Thanks postmaster for getting this up and running!
Yay! A new thread. It feels so clean & neat in here....wish my office felt the same way. :)
Worst. Night. Sleep. EVER. last night. Ugh. Between the achy hips (even the pillows didn't help much last night), the cramps (see below), and the dreams, I woke up what felt like every twenty minutes.
So I've hit another growth spurt. It's pretty amazing. I really "popped" even more on Sunday (even DH said, "Wow - what a quick change!"). I now look like your average 6 or 7-month pregnant woman (assuming she's having only one baby). The fact that I'm not even half done (knock on wood) and I'm already this big really scares me. Sitting is starting to be uncomfortable much of the time, too, as my belly crunches up into my ribcage. I think I'm going to need a wheelbarrow to get around once I hit 7 months. :D
I meant to have DH take another belly shot last night so I could upload both of my belly shots & post, but forgot. He's out of town until tomorrow night, but I'll try to remember soon.
I've been having a TON of cramping, some of it pretty painful, and of course it scares me half to death (especially while I was sleeping -- I had TWO nightmares last night about losing the babies). I'm trying to chuck it up to "normal pregnancy stretching & growing," and my rational side believes that, but of course there's a tiny voice in me that also says, "you should be worried."
Today I ate chicken for the first time in two months. Hey, it ain't much, but it's progress!! Pretty soon even meat-in-sauce won't sound so gross to me anymore (I hope)!
By the way, I met with a psychiatrist yesterday re: the depression I felt early in the pregancy: she believes it was caused by a number of hormonal factors, but primarily low thyroid -- I've been treated for hypothyroidism for years and yet I had no idea how much thyroid could affect mood. When my need for thyroid hormone skyrocketed at the beginning of pregnancy (as it probably would have with *any* pregnancy, but especially because I'm carrying twins), evidently that caused the depression. It's certainly true that once I started increasing my Synthroid dose, the depression started to lift. She's going to keep in touch with my endocrinologist just to confer on a treatment plan, especially for when the babies are born and my hormones go crazy again (trying to ward off screwy thyroid that could contribute to PPD).
So, the moral of this story is: if you're feeling particularly low energy and/or depressed, tell your doctor! Even women who aren't hypothyroid before getting pregnant can have thyroid shortages in pregnancy (it's very common).
(Oh, and beautiful ultrasound pictures, Shannon!)

Thanks Threadmistress or (es) for bringing up the thread! Looks great!
Shannon great scans!
QOTD- Anyone look into the cord blood banking? Any idea on costs? What's your motivation to do or not do it? We personally have not decided nor have we really looked into it.
tgal - Nope haven't started looking for a doula, I'm going to speak to my M/W about it at my next appointment.
Threadmisstress can you update?
Next MW appoint 10 / 8
BIG u/s - Oct 17
09-20-2005, 03:08 PM
Thanks for the new thread!
Shannon~~Great u/s pictures! I was just looking at Aiden's and it's just so neat to get a glimpse of what's going on in there!
kat~~I never got real big with Aiden so I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through. I felt big (and anything on my small frame was *big* to me) but looking back on my 40w belly shot I just snicker at myself when compared to others!! It doesn't really matter though because it's all in how you feel. I'm sorry you're so umcomfortable already.
09-20-2005, 03:41 PM
Yay for a new thread!
I had DH take some belly shots yesterday. I feel like it looks like I've just had too many cheetos and red bulls (a la Britney), but it's something at least.
I'm having the hardest time finding something that sounds appetizing to eat. Right now, all I want is Chinese food.
09-20-2005, 03:44 PM
I didn't *subscribe* so I'm doing that now
kdotp~~Cute! If you had too many cheetos you'd likely have a second chin too;)
09-20-2005, 03:54 PM
Yay for the new thread! :D Looks great!
Threadmistress - Could you please change my due date to March 15th? Thanks!
Had to go to the doctor today - I have a little bit of a rash. It's way TMI so I'll just leave it at that! I'm fine though, and was happy to unexpectedly get to hear Little Shamrock's heartbeat, as well as have a day off work! I also got to meet one of the midwives and I thought she was wonderful. My practice has two OB/GYN's and two midwives, and any of them could deliver Little Shamrock, so I want to meet all of them before I'm due. I gained three pounds since my last appointment on Aug 31. My next appointment is Oct 3, and my ultrasound is Oct 12!!!
Hope everything's going well for the rest of you ladies!
09-20-2005, 04:09 PM
Dropping of my belly pic from this week:
I wore that tank top to my day-of-wedding bridesmaids' brunch...back in the days when it actually covered my entire torso!
09-20-2005, 04:33 PM
Thanks for the new thread - it makes me feel like we are really making progress!
Kat - I had some cramping on Sunday and Monday. It wasn't too bad, but I called my OB anyway, and she basically said "duh - you're having twins -there is a lot of stretching going on down there." She told me to put my feet up and drink lots of water - which I did - and I feel much better today. Hopefully it's just stretching pains!
Not sure how pregnant I look - but apparently pregnant enough for people to start rubbing my belly. At work. I find that a bit weird - although at the same time, I'm still so excited to be out in the open about this that I feel like saying "rub away!"
I love seeing all of the belly shots! Everyone looks great - I'm making a mental note to get some belly shots in here soon.
09-20-2005, 05:42 PM
Just realized that I haven't posted much lately, but I have been reading along.
shannongh- Those u/s pics are amazing! Makes me so anxious for my u/w next week, which reminds me:
BIG u/w scheduled for 9/27.
Glad to see all the belly shots, I'll take some more tomorrow at 17 weeks!
09-20-2005, 05:52 PM
Thanks tunibell for the new thread!!
09-20-2005, 05:57 PM
I am SO LOVING all of these beautiful belly shots!!!!! Keep them coming! And kat, I can't wait to see your belly too! I'm sorry that you're so uncomfortable though. I hope you sleep much better tonight.
Thank you so much for the compliments on the u/s pics! It was so fun to watch him/her move around. We tried to detect the sex but never really got the perfect angle so my friend wants me to come back in two weeks to see if we can find out then.
Thank you threadmistress for the beeeeautiful new thread!
09-20-2005, 05:57 PM
Thanks so much for the new threadmistresses!
Nothing exciting really going on here... still in normal clothes, still not feeling pregnant. Maybe for 14 weeks I'll let post a belly shot. ;) Maybe....
Hope everyone is having a good week so far!

CUUUTTTTTEEEEE Bellies! I love it!
09-21-2005, 06:40 AM
Beautiful new thread! Thanks threadmistress!
I actually took a couple of belly shots yesterday am, I'll have to try to post them soon. LOVE the pics, keep 'em coming!
09-21-2005, 07:38 AM
Yay for the new thread. Thanks threadmistress.
I took belly shots every week or so with my first pregnancy, and here I am at 14w and I haven't taken even one yet. I've got to get on that.
Hope everyone is having a good hump day.
09-21-2005, 07:50 AM
Such cute bellies ladies!
For those of you that are still in your normal clothes...I'm right there with ya. My selection is more limited and pants are tight, but not quite unbearable yet. I get worried that maybe I'm not growing enough, but then I remind myself that a) there is a little bit of belly there, b) I am 5'10" and have a LONG torso (rather than long legs), which gives the baby plenty of room to grow, and c) I wasn't exactly a skinny one to begin with so there also is some extra room before my belly pops out!
JennW, thanks for the heads up on the Old Navy sale. I plan to head out there tomorrow after work. Hopefully it isn't too picked over by the time I get there.
QOTD, How has everyone been about exercise? I know in the past we asked about exercise routines, but how has everyone been about keeping them up? I'll go first and I'll be honest...
What I said earlier...I swim a few times a week and walk the dog most days of the week.
What I've really done...my hubby and I split the dog walking duties, so I usually get out there approximately 3x a week. I usually walk the dog about a mile or 1.5 miles, but not at a brisk pace, so I can't really count dog walking as exercise. As for swimming, I probably have gone 5 or 6 times during the entire pregnancy - pathetic! While I haven't gained a lot of weight, I really need to get my arse in gear. I'm hoping to take advantage of the so-called honeymoon 2nd tri and get swimming at least 2x a week.

Morning Ladies! Wow, such a squeaky clean new thread and a big YIPEEE for reaching the second trimester. Thanks Threadmistresses and congrats to us all.
I had a dr. apt yesterday and it was great! My OB was called to the hospital so I ended up seeing the N.P. and she was wonderful. She took a little more time to answer all my questions and sort of visit with me. She searched and searched and (whew!) finally found the baby's heartbeat. She said it was 147 bpm, and reassured me that it was completely normal. It sounded so much stronger and clearer than last time and it was truly music to my ears. Unfortunately DH couldn't go to yesterday's apt due to work conflicts, but he will most definitely be there on Oct. 24 for our big ultrasound!
I haven't had an ultrasound yet, and am just so anxious to *see* our little one. We won't be finding out the sex, but all I want is to see his/her little face. The drs office has a 4-D ultrasound machine, so hopefully we'll be able to make out some detail! :D
In other baby-related news, I feel like my belly has popped in the last week or so. Just see for yourselves:
As you can tell, I sort of had a pooch to begin with. But I've definitely noticed some big changes lately. Oh, and please disregard my crazy pajama pants.
09-21-2005, 08:59 AM
Subscribing to the new thread! How exciting that we’ve graduated to a new one!!!:) YAY! Thread looks great, thanks, threadmistress!:D

mrs what a relief to read your post, seeing we share a due date. i was just telling dh that i haven't felt very pregnant lately. i'm not really showing either. still able to wear some pants. i get reassurance that something is happening when i try to put on my fitted jeans and realize i can't even zip 'em. i'll post a belly shot when you do. i think i've taken 4 of my non-belly thus far.
anyone know how to do a progession of belly shots in one document?
kat sorry you are uncomfortable already, what a drag. glad you're feeling better these days. i'm sure those low days were pretty scarey.
qtod i thought of donating the cord blood, but our dr. charges $450 to do the procedure. so not sure now. that money could be well spent on other necessities.
looking forward to my dr. appt. friday and hoping we'll hear the heartbeat again. i'm also curious to see the weight gain since the last appointment.
another qtod haven't done any exercise other than taking the dog for walks, but nothing brisk, and not regularly. we have an electric fence so she gets to run around all day. there is a gym not even a half a mile from our house so i'm thinking of joining just to walk on the treadmill.
Thank you threadmistress!

qotd ~~We didn't really look into it with Aiden and haven't yet discussed it this time around but I'm doubting it.
qotd2~~Hmmm...I've walked a couple of times and did my (also walking) video a couple of times as well. I'm awaiting a prenatal yoga DVD as we speak and plan to get back into it soon. I worked out a lot with my first pregnancy (and was a server so walked a lot there too) and I really think it helped to keep the weight off and with my recovery.
You ladies look fantastic! I love seeing the belly shots and can't wait to post mine at some point!
Not much happening here! Felt quite a few flutters last night. I figured out that if I lay on my left side and drink really icy cold water it makes the baby flutter like crazy. Dh gets a little sad because he can't feel it from the outside. Other than that, just being a slob watching premier week tv. LOST tonight and I can't wait!
QOTD1: I was tempted to donate, but I had no clue that there are charges associated with the procedure. Hmmm, I'll have to look into that further.
QOTD 2: I have been walking min. 3 miles/3 x / week for the past two weeks. I have gone to the pool twice and swam 50/kick swim pulls twice. I can't believe how out of breath I get now when I swim. It feels so good to be in the water though. Sad enough, I haven't done anything this week yet, so I need to do something at least for the next few nights to make up for it!

QOTD- Blood Bank We discussed it after my nurse intake appointment back in July and decided against it. We just felt that the expense was too much.
QOTD - Exercise I've been horrible, just horrible. I said I was going to keep with my regular exercise routine as long as possible. Well that got bagged entirely around August because I was just too tired. One weekend I walked and did my prenatal yoga, but that was a couple of weeks ago and I haven't done anything yet! I've been eating horrible food. It's a miracle I haven't gained my 25-35 lbs already!
I'm glad I'm not the only one still in regular clothes. I do have a little belly, and there are some pants I can no longer wear, but most my clothes still fit. I like my pants big though, so I had plenty of room to grow in them anyway, so that's probably the only reason.
09-21-2005, 06:48 PM
Loving the belly shots! Here is one of mine from today.
The pants I had on in that picture will definitely be going in the "not again until after baby" pile, that seems to be growing by the day...
QOTD1-Really don't think we'll do the cord blood banking, although we haven't really talked about it.
QOTD2-I have really been trying to keep up with the excersize routine. It has always been such a stress reliever for me, so I enjoy doing it. But recently, it's been down to 2-3 days a week.
Anyway, can't believe that by next week we should hopefully know the sex of this baby, so exciting!
Have a good night all!

First things first!
Two GIRLS for me!
So, yesterday I had my second appointment. Babies are looking good, healthy...which is all I care!
The doctor said I have gained way too much weight for this point in my pregnancy...but, according to Dr. Barbara Luke...I am okay. He said he disagrees with her...
Hugs to all, Emma

Good morning ladies :)
I'm still waiting on the anticipated 2nd trimester energy boost. I hope it is here soon, because boy am I dragging! In bed by 9pm most nights, and it's so hard to drag myself to classes during the day, not to mention staying away to do my readings! Ah well, it's all for the greater good, ya?
Congratulations on your baby girls lovin' it!
I'm so sorry, i've missed way too much to do individual shout outs. I'm a horrible person :(
So, to answer some QOTD:
#1 - We have talked about banking cord blood, but will need to look mor einto the cost of it. I don't feel strongly either way at this point.
#2 - HA! exercise, yeah...right! Before being pg, i was swimming 6 days a week....i think i've been 6 times since finding out i'm pg! Between the nausea, the headaches and the fatigue, there's been no way I could force myself to go. I do walk alot, and even more so now (about an hour a day) so at least I'm moving.
How about a new QOTD for today?
Have you decided on a Nursery "theme" or bedding yet? If so, share!!!
We're doing froggies, and using either the Sir Leaps alot Bedding from Wendy Bellisimo or the Freddie the Frog, either one i adore :D The main bedding is sage gingham, which I've already started to buy!
09-22-2005, 07:41 AM
QOTD cord blood: Same as everyone else, I thought about it but the expense is keeping me away as well. So much to pay for when baby comes I think the money will probably be spent elsewhere.
QOTD exercise: Have been trying to really keep up as I gained weight before getting pg and am terrified what will happen during this pg. I work out probably 4-5 days a week. I don’t do anything too strenuous, but I am moving and burning calories so I guess it’s better than nothing. I am also trying to eat healthier, though I am no where near where I probably should be with that.
QOTD nursery: Waiting to find out the gender. If it’s a boy I think we’ll go with an animal theme. I haven’t decided yet for a girl. There are so many I like. (Plus, I honestly feel like this baby is a boy and have since finding out I was pg. So I haven’t looked at as much girl stuff. If they tell me at the big u/s it’s a girl, I’ll start girlie shopping/looking then!)
dec27_bride – We can’t view your picture!:( My after baby pile is huge too! I need to cycle out those clothes so I don’t have to look at them!:D
lovin’it – Congrats on your girls! YAY!:) Poo on the doctor for saying you gained too much weight! You’re having twins for Pete’s sake!
Hey red – Feel better soon! I hope that 2nd trimester boost finds ya soon!:)
09-22-2005, 08:18 AM
lovin'it~~Wow! Congrats on your baby girls!
bedding~~We'll be using the same bedding we used for Aiden.
Can't wait for more energy too:)
Congratulations, lovinit, on the baby girls! I'm kinda surprised that your doctor thinks you've gained "too much weight." Did he say why that was a concern? I know I've gained a ton (I'll find out today just how much - yikes), but so far my doctors have told me that since it's practically impossible to have macrosomatic twins, that I shouldn't worry too much about weight gain. That and Dr. Luke, of course....
I'm just curious about your doctor's concerns in case *I* should be concerned, too....hey, ya gotta have something to obsess about, right? :D
QOTD (cord blood): We haven't discussed this yet. I hear such conflicting information (all from reliable sources) that it's a decision we'll make later, maybe once I'm done grading everything this semester. I need time to really dig in and research, and haven't had that yet.
QOTD (exercise): I've been terrible. Before getting pregnant (well, before starting the IVF cycle -- they limit exercise during the IVF cycle), I was pretty good -- made sure to exercise 3-4 times a week.
Since the IVF cycle, I have done almost nothing. That pain that I keep talking about (in my hip/butt) came on at about 5 weeks and has made even walking a PITA (literally! :)). These past couple of days it's been better, but I'm a little nervous about tempting fate and starting to exercise -- will wait to talk to my doctor about it today (or maybe wait to start exercising again until after going to PT).
I'm also interested in prenatal yoga, but right now that, too, sounds like it wouldn't work until I "heal."
QOTD (nursery theme): Our theme will be pastel colors. :D I'm really not interested in developing a "theme," so we won't be doing anything in particular. We're planning to sell our house in June, so I don't even know if I'll paint the walls!
I already ordered (and received) the crib bedding -- various solid pastel colors from The Company Store. I *did* "splurge" and buy dust ruffles for the cribs, and fleece blankets. My current plan is to do the "community crib" (they'll likely share one crib for the first few months) in yellow (bought yellow sheets + yellow dust ruffle), and then once they split up into two cribs, do one in pink and one in blue. I'll keep the yellow as backup. :D
09-22-2005, 09:12 AM
Congratulations lovin it on the girl-lies!
Great sonograms too! I'm a little obtuse, in the ones were they point out the gender, what is the angle on those? Is that a toukus shot?
Excersice - um.. yeah.... I should be doing that huh?
Nursery theme - I really don't know yet. So many cute things that I see, I need to narrow it down after our big u/s. Can't wait till then. I totally feel like a kid waiting for christmas morning!
Update here. I was feeling a little bummed b/c I didn't have anyone close by IRL pregnant girls. I have my SIL and we talk a good deal, but our ideas differ greatly. So, I'm afraid to bring up some topics. And she is over an hour away, so it doesn't make for evenings of baby shopping. But, yesterday I got phone calls from two friends who are also expecting! I was giddy the whole ride home!
09-22-2005, 09:28 AM
I've been so far behind! I am leaving today for ISRAEL! I'll be back in the country on 10/2.
I just scheduled my BIG U/S! It is October 24th!
As for the QOTDS:
Cord Blood- I have not looked into this at all, to the extent that aside from having heard that there is something you can do with cord blood, I don't know anything. NOTHING!
Exercise- Um, yeah, I'm with Elenitsa. I have gone on maybe 1-2 walks per week. But I'm eating so much healthier, that must make up for it. Right?
Nursery- I'm not bringing stuff into the house until the baby is born, I think we discussed that already, but I have been thinking about the nursery. That's ok right? Anyway, what I have in my head is to make a big family tree and frame it and then have kind of a tree/forest theme. Do I know if there's anything out there that fits this idea I have? Of course not. But I like the idea of sage as a color. We'll see, since our master bed room is already sage, DH may revolt on that one.
Anyway, you ladies have a great couple of weeks. Hopefully I'll come back with a belly!! I echo those of you who aren't really showing yet.
09-22-2005, 09:29 AM
FABULOUS u/s pics lovin'it ! And congratulations on your twin girls!!! :D
QOTD cord blood-I don't think we'll be storing ours. I do want to look into donating it though.
QOTD nursery-We won't be doing a "theme" either. I have been trying to find some cool artwork as the "inspiration piece" but haven't had any luck.
QOTD exercise -what's that?
I also wanted to say that Lisa, if you're reading this, I want you to know that I've been thinking a lot about you lately and I hope everything is okay. I'm worried that we haven't heard from you in awhile.
lovinit - awesome u/s pics and congrats on your baby girls! Very exciting! I didn't have you on the chart. Were you thinking they were girls?
QOTD (nursery theme):
I don't think we are going to do a theme, but I would like our nursery to be gender specific in terms of colors. I have an awesome picture from traditional home magazine of a girls room that I fell in love with. It is a bit extreme, but I love the concept. I'll scan it and post later.
I am in love with this crib. I contacted Land of Nod (where the picture comes from) and they said the artist that took the picture owns this crib. It can't be an old one because look at the rails they look narrower than a coke can and also looking closely at the feet they are spirals which is a bit more modern. If anyone has seen anything similar, could you please let me know.
09-22-2005, 10:06 AM
lovin'it congratulations on your girls!! How exciting!! With twins, you're supposed to gain more. Ask any of the mamas in the Moms with Multiples thread, and I'm sure they'll all say you're fine.
qotd 1 cord blood. Haven't really thought about it.
qotd 2 I used to walk our dog every day. Sadly I didn't feel much like it in the first trimester. I've felt better the past week or so, so hopefully I can start picking that up again. I also bought a prenatal Yoga DVD a while ago that I'd like to start doing as well.
qotd 3 No specific theme or bedding. Because we're not finding out the sex, the nursery will have to be fairly gender-neutral. I'm making a quilt of creams and muted greens, so we'll pull all the colors for the room out of that. Our house is almost 90 years old, so I'd also like to have a more antique look/feel for the room. DH wants to completely gut and renovate the room, though, so we have a lot of work to do before we can even think about decorating! (And, honestly, I'm not entirely confident it will be finished by March)
There are some nights I come home and am still completely exhausted and there are other nights where I've got tons of energy! I know I should be expecting to feel better, but it still makes me a little nervous. I've noticed I'm not as hungry as I was a few weeks ago and I get fuller, faster, but I haven't changed my eating habits one bit. My midmorning snack was EasyCheese (you know, that chesse in a squirt can) and wheat thins!
09-22-2005, 12:50 PM
Shannon: Hi there!! Not sure if it was me you were asking about but I'm here.... You are a doll! (And I bought the toy you posted from Amazon, BTW).
Well guys, I've been gone for *ages*. I don't even know where our other thread is -- I'm hoping I didn't miss anything too big. And I'm hoping everyone is safe and healthy and all is well. I've been in NJ dealing with family stuff but I'm back home now and hoping for a little normalcy.
I'm finally out of the 1st trimester!! YAY!! Also told my bosses that I'm PG. They want to know if I'm coming back to work. Hmmm. I'm not planning to but I'm not telling them that until waaaaaaay later. Oh yeah, I got results from the nuchal trans screen and everything was perfect. Yay! I have the amnio booked for October 7th so we'll know the sex soon after.
Let's see, QOTDS:
1. Cord blood: Yes
2. Exercise: None until my next DA when she tells me I'm officially off moderate bed rest
3. Theme: well, we won't have a real nursery until the baby is about 3 months old; s/he will be in our room until then (we need to move out of our 2 BR condo into something bigger and hope to do so when the babe's about 2 months old).
So for our room until we get a real nursery I want this and this:
and maybe this:
because the last two pieces could be used elsewhere in the house after we move.
I love the french country look for a girl, (must get a chandelier) and for a boy I'd like to do a cityscape sort of feel - something really cool and urban.
That's the plan now but everything changes all the time.
I have my 15 wk appointment on Monday. Hoping to actually hear the heartbeat this time -- no one ever lets me listen!
09-22-2005, 01:05 PM
Totally OT, but....
I just got an e-mail from our photographer saying that Wedding Bells wants to feature our wedding in their spring magazine.
:D :D :D

Soo COOL Tuni!

Soo cool! I used to work for Wedding Bells / Wedding Channel in the LA office. So happy you got picked!
Let's see some of your wedding pics!!!

Hi girls. It has been a while since I have posted, but I read when I get the chance. School has started again, and I am swamped. I think I need three days just to grade all the papers.
QOTD (cord blood): It is really expensive, so we will not be storing it. But, we will be more than happy to donate it.
QOTD (nursery theme): Are you kidding? We haven't even talked about the nursery. We are about to start building though, so maybe we will start talking about it when we pick out paint colors.
QOTD (exercising)- I have actually not been good this week, but before that I was walking or doing walk/jog intervals for 40 min- an hour 3-5 days a week. I will probably get back on tonight while watching Survivor. I am starting to have issues sleeping b/c I have really "popped" in the last four days. I find that when I do exercise I sleep soooooo good.
On another note, I think that I am feeling the baby move now. It has happened everyday since Monday around 7:30pm. It doesn't really feel like a flutter to me though. It is almost more like a very, very light cramp or tightening. Do y'all think that could be it?
That's so cool, tunibell! Now I want to see pictures, too! (I gave up my bridal magazine addiction a long time ago, so you'll have to post some pics).
Just posting to say that I had my 16 week appointment this afternoon (even though tomorrow is 17 weeks). Heard both heartbeats -- sounded normal (I know that one of them was in the "high 140s," but I forgot to ask about the other one).
I've gained another 7 1/2 lbs., which is actually a lot less than I'd expected. So, from 8 weeks to 17 weeks, I've gained 15 1/2 lbs. I probably gained 2 lbs. from 4 weeks to 8 weeks, so about 17 1/2 total.
(Of course, that's not counting all the weight I gained on Clomid & IVF drugs....right now I'm a good 35 lbs. over my preferred weight, maybe a little more. I consider that "baby weight," although the doctors won't count it for purposes of my pregnancy weight gain).
She said I'm measuring (uterus) at what a 21 or 22 week singleton pregnancy would measure -- even though to me, I'm looking more like a 6-month pregnant woman.
Oh, and she said she "wasn't crazy" about the idea of me travelling to AZ for Thanksgiving (to go to my in-laws). She said she prefers that all twin pregnancy patients stay in the area after 24 weeks, and *definitely* after 28 weeks.....so either I'll send hubby without me (his family likes to golf over the holidays) or else neither of us will go. I'm not so completely upset about this. :D (But don't tell my DH! :D). I mean, a 4-hour plane ride is NEVER fun, but I can't imagine it would be that fun when I'm 26 weeks pregnant, either. If it was a wedding or something, I might suck it up and go.....but since we just saw them, and since they're moving here next spring....I can skip it. YIPPEE!!!! ;)
09-22-2005, 03:47 PM
On another note, I think that I am feeling the baby move now. It has happened everyday since Monday around 7:30pm. It doesn't really feel like a flutter to me though. It is almost more like a very, very light cramp or tightening. Do y'all think that could be it? Oooh, I've been getting those all week and I am just a day behind you. I was wondering if it was movement as well but was trying not to get my hopes up since everyone else was feeling fluttering. This afternoon, though, I felt a little "thump" and then another one maybe a minute later. Not sure if that was something either or just one of those little muscle twitches you get once in a while (though what muscle it might be, I have no idea - I don't think I have any left!).
qotd cord blood blanking - no idea!
qotd exercise - did a little walking this weekend but otherwise not really. I try to get out when I am feeling good but I'm back to feeling a bit pukey since I tried to skip the Zofran (whoops). Have GOT to start lifting one of these days!!!
qotd nursery - what nursery? The baby is going to sleep in what is currently our guest bedroom/rec room/office. We'll move the TV out into the living room and see if we still have room for the futon but the office has to stay. We're not really themey-type people anyway so will just do something simple for bedding and no other decor. We will likely be moving within the next year or two and our "target audience" will not likely have children so it doesn't make sense to "do" a nursery.
Sorry I haven't been around much lately - way too tired to do much posting these days. Going to lie down now...
09-22-2005, 04:01 PM
Not much all going on here. Still feeling icky from the allergies but it is
gradually improving. Taking benadryl at night has at least enabled me to
sleep a little. I had a drs appointment on Monday and she was able to
find the heart beat almost as soon as she put the doppler on. It was so
cool! :) I go back in 3 weeks for my 16 w appointment, and then will
have my big u/s with them at 20 weeks just prior to moving. I love my dr,
I really hate to go :( . Oh well.
QOTD: Cord Blood- No idea yet, haven't even looked into the
QOTD: Exercise- Still walking the dog daily for about 35 minutes,
and walk/chase/lift kids constantly at work so that gives me a pretty
good work out. I still want to start swimming but we decided not to
get a gym membership since we are leaving so soon.
Am i bad not to think about this yet? I guess because we are moving,
I haven't put much thought into it because I know there isn't much we
can do right now. I know if we have a boy, we will do an airplanes
theme since daddy flies :) . If we have a girl, probably no theme, just
girlie colors. Who knows!
09-22-2005, 07:16 PM
Nursery I painted the nursery before I got pregnant, so I wouldn't have to worry about fumes - DH and I just decided not to chance it. Anyway, here's a pic:
The colors are a little muted, but that's the general idea. I'm making bedding and curtains using the same colors as the wall.
We wanted to make it unisex because if we have more than one, they'll use the same nursery. (And the baby wasn't even conceived when I painted it!)
09-22-2005, 07:34 PM
lovinit- Congrats on your girls!!
tuni- That is so cool about Wedding Bells!
Tracie- Great job on the nursery, looks awesome!
I can't get these belly pics to upload...I tried Photobucket, but they're too big!
D'oh! Forgot to mention that I scheduled my next OB appointments and the "big" ultrasound (though for me, it won't be so big because I already know the sexes):
"Big" Level II ultrasound is 10/19
Next OB appointment is 10/20
Next Next OB appointment is 11/3
(I guess she wants to see me every two weeks from 20 weeks on....will start checking my cervix at 22 weeks to be sure there's no change).
Also forgot to mention that they took blood for the AFP test today; although it's less accurate with twins, it's a fairly simple & painless test so we decided to do it. The CVS already ruled out the chromosomal issues, but CVS doesn't test for spinal cord & other neural defects, so we'll have to use the AFP + the Level II ultrasounds to rule those out.
The ultrasound appointment will be TWO FREAKIN' HOURS LONG! Ugh.
09-22-2005, 08:57 PM
Congrats on your Two Girls Lovin it
Sorry I haven't posted started back to work on Monday and am just exhusted....
QOTD Cord Banking: I ordered the information, but think its out of our price range.
QOTD Exercise: Since being on bed rest no exercise for me. I am asking at my appointment on Wed. to see if I can swim or walk..
QOTD: I live in a 2 bedroom house and the baby will share the guest room and computer room. The room is green so I am going to do a green and yellow theme with frogs.
I hope you all have a good week and get lots of rest on the weekend.
09-23-2005, 05:35 AM
Glad to see everyone is doing well in here-
Tracie -- the nursery looks fantastic! I love the colors!
lovin it - I second (third & fourth) what everyone else said about your doctor's comments. Don't worry about the weight gain - it's good for the babies! My doctor told me that he doesn't quite agree with Dr. Luke - but his recommended weight gain for me was somewhere near the lower end of her recommendations. I've been putting on about a pound a week - which pretty much has me on target, I think. Kat - it sounds like I am on pace with you too - which makes me feel better!
Speaking of weight gain - I had to wear a suit to work today, and stuffed myself into one of my new bigger, but non maternity suits I bought a few weeks ago. I feel like a sausage - I can't believe how tight it is! I am vowing that this will be the last time I try to stuff myself into non maternity clothes. I'm hoping that none of the men at this deposition I have to go to notice if I unbutton my pants under the table.
QOTD - cord blood - haven't really thought about it yet.
QOTD - exercise -- I've been trying to get to the gym when I can, and have been averaging 3-4 times per week. But my doctors never really took me off of my post-IVF exercise restrictions - they keep telling me that walking and low impact activity is fine, but I need to keep my heartrate pretty low. So I've given up running or anything that really gets me moving, and have been sticking to walking and the elliptical machine (with no resistance). It makes me feel good to just get to the gym, even if I am not doing what I used to do.
QOTD - nursery -- Not entirely sure what the theme will be yet -- but I found this bedding that I love with the cutest little bees on it, so we might try to work with that. I think we'll work on this more once we know what we've having.
Hope everyone has a good friday and a great weekend!!
09-23-2005, 08:01 AM
Bernie, too funny about your suit...I'm sure no one will notice if you unbutton your pants!
kat, wow, lots of exciting appts coming up. Time is marching along :)
Tracie, wow, painted the nursery before you were pregnant. Nice to have that done now. I love the colors and the turtles, very cute!
amychris, sorry about the allergies. Good luck with your upcoming move...too bad about having to leave your dr. When do you find out exactly where you're going?
aprilshowers, ooh how fun...you may be feeling movement. So exciting. Sorry you're still so tired, take care.
trm, I can't offer any advice as to what movement will feel like, but I think it is exciting that you are on the verge of really feeling something. very cool!
junk, good to hear from you again. Fun stuff that you're looking at for your nursery. The dark wood is pretty.
kdotp, I also am noticing that I get fuller faster. I'm hungry every few hours, but fill up quickly. I've been trying to eat more meals, but less each meal.
tgal, very pretty crib. I don't know much about it, but I like that style.
tuni, so exciting that you're wedding pictures have been selected! You'll definitely have to share those with us.
IU, I guess you won't see this until you get back, I hope you had a fabulous trip to Israel.
Elenitsa, so fun that 2 friends are expecting so close to you. I have one friend that just had a baby last week and another due next month, so we'll be fairly close, but it'd be fun to have someone around the same time. My cousin is due the week before me, but she lives 1000 miles away...oh well, we've been emailing LOTS. It is fun.
QOTD - cord banking, it is too expensive for us to do for ourselves. I'd like to donate it if possible, but I'm not sure what, if any, expenses are there.
QOTD - nursery, no clue what I want to do for the nursery. Just yesterday, I started looking at some ideas. I looked on the Land of Nod website and found some really cute things. It is a little out of my price range though, I realized the Outlet is just 15 minutes from my house, so I may check it out. My aunt also sews, so I may be able to get some ideas and then see if she'll be willing to sew a few things. Since we're not finding out the sex, the nursery will be gender neutral.
Not much else to report. I had some gift certificates to Motherhood and Old Navy, so I went out and bought a few pairs of maternity pants yesterday. I'm still in my normal jeans today, but its nice to know I have some options now. My jeans are fine, by a lot of my more fitted work pants are too tight, so I may be breaking out the maternity wear next week. Fun, fun :)
Not sure if any of you are in the path of Rita right now...just know that you are in my thoughts. This hurricane season is unreal this year!!!
Happy Friday to all of us!

I only have a second, I had to log on at work. Every time I click on this thread at home, it knocks me off the internet. I cannot even read it. I have no clue why, so I may be missing for awhile....Wierd, huh?
I am really stressed this week, so I am so sorry for my lack of so's! I had my 16 week apt today and the babies heart rate is 160. I didn't mention this before, but at my last visit my bp wouldn't come down, so she put me on meds. I have been checked every week since and everything is back to normal, but I am still on the meds. As a precautionary measure, I am being asked to do the 24 hour urine sampling, not looking forward to that and she is sending me somewhere for my u/s and said they will probably want to do u/s every few weeks to keep an eye on the baby. Wow, all that for a reading of 148/90. Well, I am happy though that she is being proactive, which really calms my fears.
My next apt is scheduled for Oct 17 and the u/s place will be calling me to schedule my first big u/s.
Has anyone thought about doing a 4-D? Now that I will be having more u/s, I'm not sure a 4-D would be worth it.
Here is the nursery idea that I love. Of course, we don't have a fireplace in the room, nor do I really care for the wallpaper, but eveything else is ultimately girly and I love it! I am thinking I can find the fabric to make some of the stuff myself, that is if we have a girl, well, I could always do something similar in something more gender neutral!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! I am off to throw a bridal shower, this should be an eventful one! Too much to do and not enough time!
09-23-2005, 11:07 AM
just stopping in. i have an appt. this afternoon and hopefully we'll get to hear the hb again. curious to see how much more weight i've gained. dh is way too excited to find out the gender. he told everyone we were finding out today and "ultrasound" never came out of my mouth when i was talking about todays appt. too funny.
tgal love that crib you posted earlier, so unique! and that nursery is super luxurious! can't wait to see how yours turns out if you have a girl.
lovin' congrats on the girls! amazing how distinct their parts are!
tuni so exciting about your wedding photos! i'm with everyone else, show us the goods!
qtod - nursery i'm really only set on girl decor. i've been collecting paint samples this week and searching for bedding. what i'm finding online is a little more than i want to spend, since it's custom, but i might be able to find the fabric and have someone local make it. still trying to figure out the details. as for boy ideas, i loved the sail boats from pbk, but that seems to have since been discontinued and i love the best friends bedding (dogs) which has also seemed to disappear. the dogs was only available in twin, but thought of putting a twin bed in the nursery w/ that bedding, and just doing solids in the crib. so now i'm back to square one in that department. before i think too much about it, i need to find out what we're having and that won't be until the end of Oct. so i'll continue to gather ideas until then, and post as soon as some purchases are made.
09-23-2005, 12:24 PM
Lisa- yes, I was worried about you but am glad to know that you're okay. :) I'm glad you got the Sunshine Symphony...isn't it so cool?!
After the QOTD about nurseries, it inspired me to start looking at crib bedding...I had no idea it was so freaking expensive! Those that have posted cribs and bedding, it is beautiful. Dh and I are going furniture browsing tomorrow. I'm starting to get a little overwhelmed about how much needs to be done between now and march. I've started a "do before baby arrives list." Besides the obvious items of register, buy baby furniture, etc, I've also listed
-take infant cpr class
-draw up a will
Does anyone else have any other ideas to add to the list?
Shannon - I am also overwhelmed thinking about everything that needs to get done.
Does anyone know if there is a timeline out there someplace similar to those the knot and WC puts out for wedding planning. It would be so helpful if therewas something like that, it would really help me get organized!
Shannon, Wow! You are organized! If you actually draw up a will before the baby's born, you will be far ahead of almost every parent I know (including all the lawyer-parents I know, which is a lot considering I'm a lawyer). :) I doubt we'll get around to will-drafting (or should I say I doubt *I*'ll get around to will-drafting, since we know damn well I'll be the one doing it LOL) until after the babies are born, even though I know it should be done sooner. Maybe you'll inspire me later to get off my arse and get it done. :)
Here's something to add: do you plan to take a childbirth class of any sort? That's something we need to look into soon, since with twins we have less available time to take the class (I'll be in good shape if I make it to 36 weeks, and there's a decent chance that the last few of those will be on bedrest, so I want to get the classes done sooner rather than later).
You'll probably also want to tour the hospital or birth center, assuming you're using one.
tgal, I don't know of any timelines, but have you checked babycenter.com? I'm running to a meeting now (otherwise I'd check for you) but that's a possibility.
09-23-2005, 02:28 PM
Good suggestions kat! I'll add to my list.
tgal, that would be a great idea if someone put out a planning calendar!
09-23-2005, 02:39 PM
I found something that might be along the lines of what we were looking for--
It has some pretty good information.
09-23-2005, 03:19 PM
Shannon ~ You are so organized, I wish I was you!!
Does anyone else have any other ideas to add to the list? - Not sure who has/doesn't have but we definitely need to beef up the life insurance policies in my household. I have a small policy thru work, as does my DH, but I can't decide between whole / term and a dollar amount. I have done the online worksheets but based on what these programs suggest, we'd be spending a GINORMOUS amount of money. What to do, what to do.
Kat: Thoughts on the online will kits I've read about?
Tgal: That nursery is SPECTACULAR!! My dream nursery - love it!!
09-23-2005, 03:31 PM
Kat: Thoughts on the online will kits I've read about?
junk - I know you addressed this to Kat, but I'm an attorney too, so I thought I'd respond. I do estate planning, so this issue is near and dear to my heart. PLEASE don't use a "will kit." We see them every so often and they are universally awful. I'm not exaggerating. Some of the documents I've seen would "work", but they wouldn't acheive the Testator's goals. Others wouldn't even qualify as a valid will. They aren't always updated for state law, and they lack the individuality you need in a Will. Sure, we do plain vanilla wills occassionaly, but you'd be surprised at how no two person's wills are ever the same. There are intracasies to your life and your finances that a computer program just can't get to. It is not that expensive to do a simple will (all to spouse and to children on the 2nd death*) and it's worth it to spend an hour with someone who can look at the whole picture. *this isn't what I recommend, actually, but that's what's considered a simple will.
If you (or anyone else) has any questions about will, trusts, advance directives etc, just let me know. If anyone lives in Ohio, I'd be happy to set you up with a good attorney, or talk to you myself.
We updated our insurance, by a lot, after DD was born. We did term insurance because I wasn't planning to use it as an investment vehicle, and eventually our savings/investments will be enough to cover lost earnings, which is what our insurance is for now.
P.S. Kat, I'm one of those lawyers, estate planning no less, who didn't do a will until after the baby was born. I just could NOT come up with a guardian. I holler at my clients for that all the time!
09-23-2005, 06:06 PM
Mom 2 Amelia: Thanks *very* much for that valuable info. Too bad you're not in CA!! I will never be able to decide on a guardian -- must put that on the list to discuss way sooner than later.
I am thinking we too will do the term L.I. -- seems like the smartest option. Yikes -- all the important things we've put off until now... :)

Can't tell you how thrilled I am to have said goodbye to the 1st tri...no more m/s...a bit more energy...
Work has been crazy busy since the end of August, hence my MIA status...so glad to see so many great bellies and u/s! We had our first big anatomical u/s on Sept. 9th - it was such a great feeling to see fingers, toes...and lots of movement! We also were able to hear the hb for the first time, which was amazing. The tech said everything looked great and I was measuring a week ahead...and my OB did adjust my EDD to 3/3/06. She could tell the sex, but we're going to wait...but it was so tempting...
A bit of a scare a week later though...OB called to say that they did notice a 'bright spot' on the heart - or EIF - which is a controversial 'soft marker' for Downs...OB said that most Drs don't even mention it, but it is their policy to do so...gee, thanks. Our NT test came back negative so we opted to have the quad test before even considering an amnio...which she doesn't even recommend as she has yet to deliver a baby with DS who had this marker...especially given my age (31).
Just kills me that they tell you this and then dismiss it and expect you not to worry.... I found more info here (http://www.pregnancy-info.net/QA/answers-Echogenic_foci_spots_on_the_fetus_heart) that made me feel better....trying to put it out of my mind until we receive the Quad results...hopefully on Monday or Tuesday.
Belly is starting to 'pop'...which is kind of neat....using the hair band tip I picked up earlier in the thread to give my pants a bit of wiggle room in this in-between state. Will take some belly pics this week...
Next OB appt: 10/17/05
Next anatomical U/S: 10/21/05
QOTD: Exercise....lift for 30m and cardio (precor/race walk) 30m....usually 3-4x a week.
QOTD: Nursery...we're in a 1BR in NYC...so we will not have the pleasure of decorating a nursery...will most likely use a bassinet and turn one of our dressers into a changing table until we outgrow the apt...
Tunibell - Great news about WB! Remember you asked about running a while back...hung up my marathon shoes after NJ...planned to run NYC last year but experienced running burnount...just wasn't fun anymore...of course, now I miss it...sigh.
LOL, mom2amelia!! I no longer have any friends who are in estate planning (lost touch with the last one who was, and she didn't have any kids yet), so you may be the first estate-planning lawyer I know who waited until after baby was born. :D Hey, for you it's probably like the chef who never wants to cook at home.....
I'm glad you were here to answer Lisa's question, cuz my response would've been, "I haven't a freakin' clue." :) I've written exactly two wills in my life -- a simple one for a relative, and a more complicated one in one of my legal drafting courses in law school. One of my collegues was an estate planning lawyer before moving to academia, however, and I plan on bugging the crap out of her when I finally get around to drafting the thing.
Okay, enough of the procrastinating....time to get back to work!
09-24-2005, 06:39 PM
How's everyone doing? I am so excited we made it to the second trimester. We've got so much to look forward to soon! The "big" ultrasounds, feeling baby move, new clothes, baby showers, shopping...:D Ya'll are completely freaking me out with this will/life insurance talk though. DH and I both have life insurance through his work, but we don't have wills. ugh, another thing to add to my to do list!!
I was feeling a need to celebrate baby today so I went baby shopping today. It was awesome :D i discovered this great little baby store in town, and spent an hour talking to the women there about baby, and pregnancy, and everything, it was so awesome! I'll be a customer for life, no doubt :p lol. Also going shopping tomorrow to get started on the nursery, so excited :)
Also wanted to share, i did some scrapbooking for Lucky tonight, if anyone wants to see, i posted the pics in my journal (link in sig). I won't clog this thread with them ;)
09-25-2005, 08:41 PM
I didn't want to clutter this thread with a ton of my wedding pics, but if anyone would like to see the shots that WeddingBells is planning on using, the link to my journal is right here. (http://www.constantchatter.com/showthread.php?p=208897#post208897)
09-26-2005, 07:24 AM
WOW so much to catch up on! I was out last week in Atlanta for work and I can't believe how quickly things move!
Nothing new here to report, same old same old! Just wanted to say hello to all and that I am so happy we have made it to the 2nd trimester! Just think, most of us are at least 30% through our pregnancies! Scary to think that there is only like 25 weeks or so left!
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend, well at least those not affected by Rita. Those that were, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your families!
Shannon - Fabulous Link, thanks for sharing! It was just what I was looking for.
Junk - Could you post the link to that onesie again? Thanks for suggesting the Life Insurance too!
Per Life Insurance, anyone have a good website that assists in calculating an amount that might be right for us. I really don't trust agents to provide estimates.
Mom -Thank you so much for touching on the computer generated will programs. DH and I bought the Susie Orman version and were convinced that would be good enough for us. Guess we shall have it looked at by an Attorney!
Wills, wills, wills! I know this isn't a great topic to get into, but Gals try to get one done. I won't go into details, but let’s just say we know someone our age that suffered a loss and didn't have one. No one wants to anticipate the worst case situation, but when it does happen grieving is enough to deal with let alone dealing with legal issues. Wills are one way of making life a little easier during such tragic times.
Ok, off my soap box now!
Brooke - Hang in there! Let us know how things are going.
Tunibell - Great pics and Congrat to you and your dh!
Red - I lurked in your journal, awesome work on the scrap book! I sooo need some time to do some of this stuff. I can't wait; it looks like you really had a great time putting it together!
Update - Big U/S October 7th - I can't wait I am so excited! I will be 19 weeks, so hopefully the gender will be visible. Something I didn't realize until last night though until my MIL told me, my ob is sending me to a high risk ob for the ultrasound. All that she mentioned in my apt. on Friday was that I would be getting more u/s's due to my bp issue, she didn't say anything about sending me to a high risk ob. My MIL asked me who was doing the u/s and I told her and she asked why are you going to the high risk ob. We didn't want to tell our families about the bp issue because mil especially freaks out about pregnant women with health issues. I swear she knows every pregnant woman’s history in town and feels the need to tell me every time I see her. Anyway, not really worried myself, again glad someone is really concerned and looking out for my best interest. However, a little irked with my OB once again for not explaining things more in depth. Also, good news, quad test came back negative. Next regular Ob apt October 17th.
One more question: In regard to insurance, who do you call to find out what is covered and what isn't. I just got a bill for the quad test and for some reason they aren't paying for everything.

Mom -Thank you so much for touching on the computer generated will programs. DH and I bought the Susie Orman version and were convinced that would be good enough for us. Guess we shall have it looked at by an Attorney!
No problem. I don't know that I've ever seen a "Susie Orman Will" so I can't say for sure that they aren't any good. Just that in my 8 years of practice I've never seen a quality do-it-yourself Will. Is your program state specific? Does it allow for a trust for minor children? This is important if you have life insurance or any other significant assets - if you both die in a common disaster you could end up with an estate in the millions (e.g. you each have a $1mm policy = $2mmm estate not including other assets) and that would all go to the child/ren at age 18 or 21 under state law. You've now got a kid who's lost both parents prematurely and he's not got $2mm to spend as he wishes. Maybe he'll use it responsibly and go off to college. But maybe he'll blow it on expensive cars and extravagant vacations for all his friends. It's just a scary situation. Total tangent, sorry. I get really *into* this. In Ohio, for example, we never do testamentary trusts (i.e., trusts that are part of your will) because Ohio law makes testamentary trusts more complicated. We always do a separate revocable trust and a pour-over will (a will that "pours" everything into the trust on death). Each state has different laws that make one device preferable over another. If your software doesn't take this into account you end up with an inferior end result.
I'm sorry, I'm really getting carried away. I think, since you already bought the software, like you said, you should do the Will and then have a local estates attorney review it for you. Let us know when you do. If it gets the A OK maybe I'll have to reevaluate my opinion about do-it-yourself Wills.

What a wonderful day! One of my very good friends at work just announced she's pg (albeit very newly pg). She's due June 1. I'm so happy for her. So now that makes 3 of us at my small elementary school that are pg!
So Dh and I head out Saturday morning to go "browsing" for baby furniture. We go to Babies R Us and another furniture store and didn't really find anything that screamed "buy me!" Then we go to USA Baby and boy did we do some damage! We ended up getting a crib, dresser, and glider. Of course we didn't *intend* on buying anything but it was the last day of a big sale that they only have 3 times per year (blah blah blah, I'm sure they say that to everyone just to get you hooked--and it worked for me!). Honestly though I'm very pleased with the price we paid...I was expecting to pay more for all 3 pieces. So that was fun! Although I really felt weird buying baby furniture and I'm not even showing yet!
I'll come back later for SO's!
09-26-2005, 08:58 AM
I still cannot get on here from my home computer. Sounds like a few of you have been baby shopping. I cannot get into it yet for some reason. I feel like I need to know the sex firts!
Maybe it is because I still buy so much for DD. We leave for New York october 3rd to visit family. I am excited to leave AZ for awhile!
09-26-2005, 09:02 AM
Happy Monday morning all!
Shannon, how awesome that you bought the baby furniture! You are definitely on top of things. Thank you as well for the link to that baby check list. I need to print that out as I have been feeling completely overwhelmed by all we have to do and it is keeping me from starting anything.
mom2amelia, I don't mind your tangents about wills one bit. This is a topic that I am not very familiar with and I am happy to take all of the advice that I can get. I have one of those programs at home, so I think what I will do is create one at home and then have a lawyer review it to see what is missing. Thanks so much for your helpful advice!
tgal, wow...the big u/s appt. already...I'm feeling so far behind you right now. That is very exciting. I'm glad your OB is being proactive about high BP issues. Could you just play dumb with your mom and just say that was who they scheduled your u/s with and you don't know why they had you go to the high-risk u/s tech? Good luck!
ce_kathleen, it is funny to think we are already 1/3 of the way through our pgcies! In some ways March seems so far away, in other ways I can't believe how quickly time is going.
red, yay for shopping! So fun! I can't believe you've gotten started on your baby book already...that is great! I'm frantically trying to finish some other books that I am working on, so I can focus on the baby once it gets here. I doubt I will get much done before the baby comes...as much as I would like to.
Brooke, sorry about the scare from your dr. Sounds like the other tests are pointing you in the right direction though. Good luck getting your quad screen results back.
I am having one of my more panicked pregnancy days though. Maybe some of you can help put my irrational mind at ease...question, are any of you still in your regular clothes? I started panicking a bit this morning because I weighed myself this morning and lost a 1/2 pound and I don't think I've grown at all in the past week or so. My pants fit exactly the same. They are tight and I can't wear all of them, but the ones that I can wear, button up fine, they just start to dig in a bit as the day wears on. I'm sure you second-time moms are giggling a bit and I'm sure I will look back on these days and be so glad that I didn't gain weight so early and be wishing for my pre-pregnancy clothes, but today I am getting worried a bit. I know that I am tall (5'10") and have some room to grow into my maternity clothes...are any of the other not showing yet???!! Thank you for putting up with my irrational thoughts....

Good Morning Ladies! So much activity last week, not hardly any over the weekend! ;)
Here's QOTDs from last week:
QOTD ~ Cord Blood ~ Not doing anything with it, probably... can't afford the costs.
QOTD ~ Exercise ~ Haven't been so good about this either. Definitely need to start doing something though!
QOTD ~ Nursery ~ Thought about it. Wanted to do Dr. Seuss, because I thought that was a cute gender neutral theme. MIL doesn't like it, she's the one painting, so not sure what we'll end up. My little sister is going to do some fun paintings on the wall for me, but now I don't know what. MIL and I are going decoration/paint shopping on Saturday. She wants to be able to find out the sex so that we can do a themed boy/girl nursery... not gonna happen! Only decision made was yellow and green for walls. :p That'll probably change too!
Still feeling very normal. Gotten some of my energy back, I didn't spend all day Saturday and Sunday sleeping like I had in weekends pass. In fact, I didn't take one single nap ALL weekend!
Took belly shots on Saturday, but I swear that the days I go to take belly shots, so look very UN-pregnant. The days I don't plan to take belly shots, I swear my belly is WAY out there! ;) STILL in regular clothes though, but people are telling me that I have a tiny little baby belly starting.
I'll post my Saturday belly shots when I get home tonight... I forgot to resize and upload them this weekend. I was busy trying to pick baby names (which we are not revealing until the baby is born). :D
09-26-2005, 09:07 AM
Heidi ~ Totally with you there! There are days where I swear I look SMALLER than I did before! But yeah, as the day wears on the clothes do get tighter. Right now I am wearing the same exact skirt that I wore in my first belly shot that I took right after finding out I was pg.
Remember we're due later than most people on this thread, and you're tall (I'm 5'8", but I don't have a very long torso).
Hope that helps ease your mind!
09-26-2005, 09:46 AM
Junk - Could you post the link to that onesie again? Thanks for suggesting the Life Insurance too!
I think I have preggo brain - I can't think of what onsie you are talking about...remind me? :)
Junk - didn't it say junk in my trunk or was it a t-shirt?
09-26-2005, 10:02 AM
Hello girls! I haven’t posted in this thread in so long, but have been reading along with each new post. I need to post more often cause this thread sure has a way of getting away from you! Haha! I’m going to have a million SO’s. Things are going well and I’m still feeling relatively normal except still tired from time to time.. I had a minor surgery last week for a skin thing, but am fine. I have to go for a follow up this week but there is nothing to worry about. next ob appt = 10/6. We’ll have our quad screen done then. I hope that we can schedule our big u/s at that time, too!:D I can’t wait for my next appt. and to hear the h/b again. As usual I am getting nervous about all that (always happens about a week before my appt.!)
You all are SO ahead of me. I seem to be the opposite of everyone. I am still too paranoid to do anything or buy anything yet. Not only that but for some reason I just have this awful *everything will take care of itself* attitude. I need to get on the ball! I have a feeling a lot of that can be attributed to my still lack of tons of energy cause I am normally a super psycho planner!!!:)
All this talk of will drafting is making me nervous!!! I feel so behind!
I agree with everyone else on the getting fuller faster thing, too. That whole stuff myself with greasy food thing from trimester 1 is definitely gone. Thank God.
Okay, back to work. Happy Monday, all!:D
elenitsa – Glad you have some pg friends. I don’t have anyone that I know that is pg and almost all of my friends do not even have kids! So it is quite the lonely road. I’m glad for you that 2 friends came out of the closet on being pg! I hear you on the anxiousness of waiting for the big u/s. I am almost ready to start counting down hourly like I did for the wedding!:D
tgal – Gorgeous cribs! Sorry to hear about the BP issues. Hope the shower went well. I don’t have any answers for your insurance question, but when you find out, can you post? I know we all deal with these insurance issues crap!
kdotp – Glad I’m not the only one who is still tired some days!
Junk – Love the furniture you have chosen. The dark wood is very nice.
tuni – Congrats on WB choosing your wedding pics! That’s awesome! Your pics are beautiful!
trm and aprilshowers – So cool that you felt the baby move. I can’t wait for that!
amychris – Sorry you have to leave your doc. It’s tough to leave a good doctor behind. Glad you’re feeling slightly better now.:)
tracie – Your nursery is gorgeous!
kat – Lots of big appts.! Time is flying. Good luck and post about them all for us!
Bernie – Hope all went well with your unbuttoned suit and no one noticed!
jen71 – Hope you can get on soon from work! Have a nice trip to NY!
ellybella – Funny about DH being so excited. That is cute that he is telling everyone.
Shannon – Great list! Thanks for posting! That is precisely what I need! Great buys! You cleaned up! Must feel good to have something done.
mom2amelia – Thx for all the tips!
brooke – Sorry about your scare. I hate the way doctors word things. Hope work slows down for you soon.
red – Yay for baby shopping. And, as I told you in your journal, your scrapbook is GORGEOUS!!!
Kathleen – Welcome back!
Heidi – I would not panic! If you look in the pregnancy forum, I posted a thread a while back about when women started to show. If you read that thread you’ll feel better cause most women did not show this early. I also work with a girl who literally did not show until she was almost 6 months! So don’t worry. Everyone grows at different rates!
MCD – Post those belly shots!:) I hear you on not sleeping quite as much. I only took 1 nap this weekend, which for me was a big difference!
WOW I WROTE A LOT!!!
09-26-2005, 10:44 AM
JennW - I don't think I can keep up with your shout outs! Sorry that you feel like you are on a lonely road. Just wanted to point out that I am in NJ, sorry I forget where you are located, but if ever you might like to trade phone numbers just pm me and I'd be glad to share.
I forget who posted, but Thanks for the list of things to do before baby arrives! That is excellent.
Health Insurance - Make sure you call and harrass them about why they didn't fully cover your claim. Sometimes a phone call is all they need. I got a bunch of claims denied b/c I switched ins mid-stream. So, the original ins was billed on a correct treatment date, and I was still covered by them, but my doctor submitted the payment request on a date beyond my coverage. Their dumb computers look at the date of submission, not treatment and rejected the claim. Apparently, it only took a phone call, but how many people might not follow up and pay out of pocket. Also, my dr just sent me the bill out right and never even tried to re-process. That bugged me too and I changed drs.
Life Insurance, Savings Plans (401k) & IRA - On the list might be updating beneficiacies for those if you already have one? I need to update some of these with even DH's name.
Hope the rest of you ladies are doing well! And now for my Rant.........
My SIL invited me to this Baby Safety event for first time expectant parents. I thought great. It is sponsored by the Advisory Council on Baby Safety. First off, I have to say they did make a few important points about child safety, but overall there were a bunch of scare tactics thinly veiled in their attempt to sell some over priced baby furniture all for one incredibly low price, only if you ordered on the spot at the seminar. I don't know if anyone has recieved a similar invite in the mail, but I just wanted to offer my 2 cents opinion to all, for what is might be worth.
This might be on the list Shannon posted, but just in case it isn't. Social security paper work. I am sure you can't submit until after the baby is born, but won't hurt to have it ready just to fill in the date and send in.
Mom - I'll have to double check on those questions, but now that we are having a baby, we were debating having a professional look over or completely redoing our will anyway. It is something that is just too important not to have done right.
Shannon - We want to see pictures! Very exciting!
Heidi - I played it off well, but I am sure she is going to tell everyone in the family about it and continue to wonder why and worry at the same time. Oh well, what can you do. I haven't gained much weight and can still get into my pants, but there are only a few that don't get uncomfortable at the end of the day. Most of the time I go with elastic because I just don't know what is going to give me indigestion on any given day.
JennW - Called insurance and got precertified for the delivery out of the way! One thing to check off the list. Also talked to customer service for clarification. Huge bummer, I thought with a PPO that as long as you were in network you paid the copay and that is it. Not! Labs and diagonostics even in network are 80% covered, same with hospital, but there is a $2500 out of pocket max + $250 deductable. Good to know, but that stinks because it starts all over again as of Jan. 1st. Mental note, next pregnancy, get pregnant and have baby in the same calendar year!!!

Threadmistress please update my appointments:
10/7 - AFP Screen
10/21 - 18 week check-up
10/25 - BIG ULTRASOUND!!!!
i have a question about the AFP Screen, i know there is a triple and also a quad should i be asking for either one of these or does the OB determine the necessity?
i still haven't made any purchases, but my grandmother has. this is so cute...i got a card from my grandmother congratulating us on the pregnancy and she enclosed a one dollar bill for the baby's savings (the $1 thing is just a little joke we have) and she wrote that she bought some onesies, a hat and bib. when i called to thank her she says "i bought more today". this is the first grandchild on both sides so i'm thinking it's going to be very spoiled.
heidi i'm still not showing. no maternity bottoms yet. i did buy a size up in a pair of cords and they are working out fine. i've bought a couple ts in a size up for the length. and a couple maternity tops. so looking forward to popping. i know i'm expanding because i wore one of dh's belts yesterday because one of mine was too tight even on the last notch when i sat. i've gained 9lbs total, but only 1 1/2 in the last 4 weeks.
shannon congrats on your purchases! can't wait to see pics. i've already printed out your checklist. can't wait to go over it.
tgal sorry about the bp issues. at least you're being closely monitored.
jen you rock w/ all of your shout outs. i have to take notes for shoutouts so i don't have to keep going back.
tuni your wedding pictures are beautiful. when did you get married?
09-26-2005, 01:04 PM
QOTD: is anyone NOT getting the AFP/triple/quad screen test?
I didn't get this test done when PG with Alex and we are not going to get it with this baby either. I just feel like I am young and healthy and there is nothing that would make me change my mind about my baby. I guess my main reason is that I have too many friends whose results came back that caused them to worry and need further testing all for nothing, the baby is perfectly fine.
Oh well I don't want to start a debate with this but I just feel like everyone is getting tested and I wanted to see if there was anyone not doing the test.
09-26-2005, 01:14 PM
kathleen, i'm not either :) For the same reasons - We're young, healthy, no problems in the family, and we wouldn't do anything about the results anyways.
09-26-2005, 01:41 PM
Kathleen~~We didn't with Aiden and aren't with this one either.
social security paperwork~~Not sure if this is a universal thing or not but we filled out that paperwork and the birth certificate paperwork at the hospital and they sent everything in for us.
09-26-2005, 01:49 PM
Kathleen - we didn't do the AFP with Amelia and we aren't with this one either. I also declined the amnio (I'm 36).
We too go the SSN info at the hospital and they sent it in for us. We got her card in the mail not too long after she was born.
09-26-2005, 02:23 PM
kathleen, we also opted not to do the quad test. Though if something unusual showed up on the big ultrasound we would do it then (OB said it wasn't too late at that point). At our last u/s, the baby gave us a full wave w/ fingers all extended and the doctor said that was a good sign that there wasn't anything wrong since babies with chromosomal abnormalities aren't usually able to do that. We probably wouldn't have done the test anyway, but that helped to cement our decision.
09-26-2005, 02:24 PM
Well if you insist! :D
This is the crib we got in white (sorry for the big picture)-
I can't find a picture of the dresser online.
Glider (ours is upholstered in denim)-
Can't wait for it to arrive!
09-26-2005, 02:29 PM
Hey pregnant ladies! Thank you to everyone who complimented our nursery!
QOTD - AFP We also declined it. It's just a screening, it doesn't tell you anything for sure, and it wouldn't change anything anyway. Besides, my doctor said they can usually tell Down's and spina bifida from the u/s.
09-26-2005, 02:42 PM
I just found out that I'm going to be an aunt again! My SIL is pregnant with my fifth niece/nephew (she has two boys, and my other SIL has two boys). She and my bro make such beautiful babies!:
(That's Riley, age 3 and Connor, age 7)
I have an OB appointment tomorrow, and I am so hoping they do an u/s. I'm getting reaaaaaalllly anxious to know the sex of this baby. (Also, I think I will deserve some sort of award for taking the one-hour glucose test at the same appointment.) Either way, I'll probably get to schedule the BIG ultrasound - yippee!!!
I'm going to take the AFP test next week. I pretty much take any test they offer me (I even took the HIV test, even though I've tested negative in the past and practically boiled all of my partners pre-coital.)
I just pawned the will thing off on DH. We've been meaning to do it for some time now and really need to get on the stick. My grandfather was too stubborn to draft a will, and my grandmother was too passive to do it herself - as a result, their estate was just settled - by their bickering children - ten years later. Not good.
I'm kinda jealous of all of you ladies still in your pre-pregnancy clothes. I think the last time I wore non-maternity pants was Week 7, and I'm up 13 lbs in 11 weeks.
Drive-by to answer the QOTD (AFP/quad screen) : We're doing (as we speak!) the AFP testing, because spina bifida and other neuro defects aren't picked up by the CVS. Frankly, it didn't matter to me too much whether we did it or not -- my risk of neural tube defects ought to be relatively low (no family history + taking prenatals for several years). But we decided to do it because compared to all the other procedures/tests I've had over the last year, this one was nuthin'. And we are the types who like to know everything we can, when we can. (Although AFP test is less reliable with twin pregnancies, the test + the level II ultrasound should help diagnose any defects).
Won't be doing the quad screen (even though I'll be 37 when these kids are born) because it picks up the same things we've already ruled out via CVS.
HUGE deadline tomorrow - my "lunch" hour is now up (I gotta take a break every now & then or I'll go nuts), so no shout-outs today.
Nothing new from me re: the pregnancy - just worrying a lot about tomorrow's deadline. Happy Monday, all!
09-26-2005, 02:47 PM
AFP - just got it today. Didn't realize it was optional. Hmmm. Amnio is scheduled for next Friday -- my gut tells me to do it so I am. It won't change anything but it will be nice to be emotionally prepared for whatever we need to know, I guess.
Not sure if you guys rememember but I've been toting around a 10cm cyst on my left ovary through the whole pregnancy (it's grown steadily). She is thinking of doing a scheduled c-section and removing the cyst along with the baby. She said there is no threat of the cyst twisting now because my belly is growing but once my uterus is empty, it could twist and that causes giant problems. Kind of shocking to be discussing delivery with my doctor already.
Tgal: Junk onsie: http://www.rosenberryrooms.com/159-junk-in-the-trunk-creeper-or-t-shirt.html
Shannon : I don't know if I ever heard what happened with your cyst....will you share?
So tired, gotta get back to work.
Glad everyone is well. Take care.
09-26-2005, 02:52 PM
Didn't realize it was optional
junk ~~Everything is optional:) Even newborn procedures and vaccinations.
I can't read back far enough in this screen but to whomever was *worried* about being in their regular pants still...I was too with my first pregnancy. Well, I think I was in the next size up but I wore my jeans/pants pretty fitted. I wasn't in maternity until 16 weeks or so. Don't fret. Eventually you'll be tired of your maternity gear and ready for pants that zip so cherish this time:) I remember having a hard time remembering to zip up my pants PP;)
09-26-2005, 02:56 PM
junk~~Also, if you weren't pregnant, how would they remove the cycst? Just curious.
09-26-2005, 04:41 PM
Thanks to all for your thoughts – change my mind every day on whether or not to get the amnio…quad tests are due any day, will made a decision then….I'll be flying to Mobile, AL Thursday for 4 days for work...so would need to wait until next week if I decide to go through it...
JenW rocking the shout outs!!….quick drive-by before diving back in to work…love all the nurseries!!
Heidi0622 – I’m still in the same clothes….certain pants are a bit tight at the end of the day, but tolerable. I lost ~5lbs the first trimester and have only put 1lb back on thus far….i’m sure I’ll be one of those ‘late gainers’…but who knows, my mother actually *lost weight* once I was born…fingers crossed I inherit those genes!
which brings me to my 17w belly shot...and first  Still haven't experienced the big 'pop'...but getting there
Tunibell – Congrats on becoming an aunt again!
Junk – Sounds like removing at delivery is the best option…would they need to completely knock you out?
QOTD: Insurance…called my insurance company when I learned I was pregnant. A bit nervous as policy is vague..but they said, as long as it is medically necessary, and ordered by my in-network OB…I’d be fine..no bills yet (fingers crossed). I have United Healthcare PPO…
QOTD: Quad Tests…its funny, Kathleen, I assumed *everyone* took these tests…honestly didn’t do enough research before taking the NT test (negative)…however they would have picked up the soft marker regardless on the anatomical us…awaiting results of the quad test now. Know in my heart its unnecessary worry, as I’m young and there is no family history….given what I’ve learned about the false positives, not sure it I’d take it again.
09-26-2005, 04:53 PM
are any of you still in your regular clothes? I started panicking a bit this morning because I weighed myself this morning and lost a 1/2 pound and I don't think I've grown at all in the past week or so. My pants fit exactly the same. They are tight and I can't wear all of them, but the ones that I can wear, button up fine, they just start to dig in a bit as the day wears on.
As the others have said, don't worry. I am 17 weeks 5 days, and still fit into all my pants but the dress pants. They do start to get tighter, but I am even still wearing my prepregnancy jeans. I experienced a "pop" this past week. I'm sure yours will come soon!
QOTD: (testing) We decided not to, b/c we are both young (almost 30 and 29), there is no history of anything in our families, we are both healthy people, and mostly b/c I am the type of person that doesn't like to live my life on the "what if" or "maybe". I would rather be blissfully ignorant and deal with it when the time came, than sit and wonder/ stress over it. And, believe me I would stress and obssess. I wish the best results to those that are going through it! I know my sister did, and she was glad she did it.
I finally told work last week. I feel much better now that it is out of the bag. I had mixed reactions from the bosses, but I don't care! Everyone is really happy for me. I also noticed that once I told, I had the "pop". I think the stress and being so cautious was keeping it in. I sleep much better now.
Next ob appt. Oct. 6! I am sooooo ready to hear that HB again!
09-26-2005, 04:58 PM
Shannon : I don't know if I ever heard what happened with your cyst....will you share?
Well, since no one is still 100% sure as to what this thing is inside of me, they want me to get an MRI which I have scheduled for next Weds. I was VERY nervous when I first found out I had to get one but the more I read about it, the less nervous I become as every resource says its fine after the first tri. So I'll get my MRI and then meet with a surgeon to discuss which direction to go based on the results of the MRI.
Thanks for asking...that's so sweet of you. I'm so glad that you're able to put off surgery to remove your cyst until the baby is due! That is such a relief!
Beautiful belly shot Brooke!
tuni, hope you have a great appt tomorrow and I also hope they give you an u/s!
09-26-2005, 05:40 PM
Brooke: You're gorgeous, jeez! And I'm not sure about knock out during delivery -- I suspect the epidural would be enough -- at least I *hope* it is!!
Phart: If I wasn't PG she'd remove it via outpatient surgery -- I think it would've been a lap but with the size it is now, who knows how she would have had to get the sucker out. Anyways, I am just thankful it doesn't hurt. And glad we have a game plan to get rid of it.
Shannon: Will think of you next week during your MRI. I am sure all will be well. Crossing all crossables.
Oh, haven't done any belly shots yet. I think I'll do one at 20 weeks -- kind of the "half baked" stage. Feeling too chubby to take pictures now!
09-26-2005, 08:15 PM
QOTD: I'm currently not planning on getting the triple screen or CF testing. We're both relatively young (29) and we have healthy family histories. I still am waffling a bit, but I figure worst case, I have until 22 weeks to make up my mind about the test and I will have another u/s around the 20 week mark. If anything is questionable there, then I will look into extra testing.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! to all of you wonderful ladies who reassured my about not being in maternity clothes. I feel much better. I was having one of those worrisome pregnancy days and I appreciate all you did to help put my mind at ease.
Junk: Wow, already discussion c-section! That is good that your dr. is being proactive and putting a plan together.
Shannon, good luck at your MRI. I hope you are able to get some answers that will put your mind at ease.
My next appt. is 10/6. It's just the regular monthly check-up. I'm hoping to schedule the BIG u/s for the next appt. in early November.
Ok, in a moment of temporary insanity I have decided to post some belly shots.
Here is my first shot at 6 weeks. I am dork and tried to suck in my pudgy belly.
Here is the latest taken last week at 14w1d:
Geesh...even though I was complaining this morning about not showing, I am feeling huge from these pictures...guess I was much larger than I thought to begin with...ah, the truths of the camera
Edited because the picture was huge, I made it smaller.
09-26-2005, 10:50 PM
My 15 Week belly shot:
09-27-2005, 07:06 AM
Wow ladies so many gorgeous belly shots!!! I really need to get off my butt and take some now that I have seen yours!
Thanks to all who chimed in about whether or not they are getting the testing. It really made me feel better, especially those who reminded me that if the u/s shows something strange I can still take the test! I feel much more confident in my decision.
We also didn't have to fill anything out on our own for DS SSN. The hospital sent everything in and we had the birth certificate and SSN within 3 weeks from delivery.
heidi0622 Don't worry about the maternity clothes, with DS I don't think I was wearing them until ~18w or so. Heck, with DS at 14 weeks I had an interview and I still fit into my "skinny" suit!
junkinmytrunk so sorry that you may already be facing a c/s for your delivery. It really wasn't that bad for me as I was a scheduled c/s at 39 weeks and I just walked into the OR on my DS birthday. I would think that you should be able to have a spinal and not be knocked out b/c I don't see why you would need to be knocked out unless its an emergency. Its good to see your Dr being proactive though and setting up gameplans now!
ShannonGH beautiful baby furniture! I really like your glider. We are considering getting one like that for this baby. With DS I just used my rocking chair that was my mom's but it wasn't all that comfortable. Good luck on your MRI. I had one back when I was 16 for my knee surgery and it was pretty uneventful. I hope yours is as quick and boring as mine was.
trm98 isn't it a relief to have it out in the open at work? I told my boss a while back but I am not sure who all knows and who doesn't around the office. Its not something I am trying to hide but its not something I bring up much at work (since I work with mostly men).
brooke have fun in AL!
tunibell congrats on being an aunt again! Those boys are beautiful and I am sure they will love their new sister/brother. Good luck on your glucose test, its not the most pleasant thing but its not terrible either.
09-27-2005, 07:39 AM
Just wanted to jump in on the insurance topic. FWIW, I work for an insurance company. One of the biggest things people forget about when having a baby is that they are going from one member of the policy in the hospital to two members once the baby is born. So if you have a $500 deductible, it's $500 for you and $500 for the baby as they are a 'member' also once they are born. Do not forget to ask this question or take this into consideration when verifying your benefits as it's potentially doubling your out of pocket cost without you realizing. HTH!
LOVE the belly pics! I have popped over the weekend, everyone noticed today as I was out yesterday with an awful cold. Doc says I'm allowed to take sudafed but it doesn't work for me... might as well take nothing at all! Hope everyone is doing well.
09-27-2005, 08:42 AM
Ooooo....I believe dec27bride has her BIG ULTRASOUND today!!!
Good luck, and be sure to report back ASAP!!
09-27-2005, 08:46 AM
Morning Ladies! Happy Tuesday to you all.
I thought nesting instincts weren't supposed to kick in until the 3rd trimester, but mine arrived this past weekend. I spent two whole days cleaning out closets and dresser drawers. We also cleared out a spot in the basement for the office equipment that has to be moved out of the *nursery*. Then we had my parents over for dinner on Sunday night. Oh, my aching feet! I've never felt that exhausted before in my life. Needless to say, I stayed home yesterday from work to rest. Feeling much better today and more like myself again. Thank goodness.
We actually started talking about doing a will this weekend but that's about as far as we got. We already both have term LI, just considering if we need to change the beneficiaries.
Thank you for talking about the quad screen. I was really starting to stress about getting this done, so it's reassuring to hear about your choices. Right now I think our decision is to forgo the screening. Like many of you reasoned, we are both young and don't have a history of genetic problems. Plus, I'm aware of the high false positive rate, and I know it would completely freak me out. I'm such a worrier to begin with, it's better for me to be blissfully unawre.
Love the belly shots, Girls. Such cute baby bellies. Keep em coming!!!!
09-27-2005, 09:34 AM
It's a girl!!!!!! I can't believe it, I'm still in shock. :D I was sure it was a boy, so much for a mothers intuition, huh?? ;) Wow, I really am in shock, I'm thrilled of course, but I just can't believe it. The u/s tech joked to my husband that, "it's a little girl, she is just hanging out in there, waiting for you to buy her a cell phone." :)
Okay, well it's a good thing I don't have to work today, b/c I just can't concentrate! I have also missed way too much over the last few days in this thread, I need to go back and catch up!
Talk to you all later, oh, and great belly shots ladies!
09-27-2005, 10:16 AM
Congratulations!!!! That is so exciting!!!! What a funny comment from the tech too. Enjoy this fabulous day dec.

09-27-2005, 10:40 AM
Dec-Congrats on your baby girl :)
My big u/s is next Tuesday and I can hardly wait. We've been moving into our new house this week so that has taken my mind of off of things a little, but when I think that this time next week I'll know if it's a girl or boy I get all excited :D.
09-27-2005, 11:05 AM
Updated to here. :)
Congrats on your baby girl dec27bride! I can't believe that we are doing the big ultrasounds already!
09-27-2005, 11:16 AM
My doctor didn’t even asked if I wanted the quad screen. He just told me when I was taking it. I’m kind of annoyed now. I wish I would have been given the option!
elenitsa – Thanks for the offer, I may take you up one of these days!:) Sorry the class didn’t work out. What a waste of time!
tgal – Thanks for the insurance update. I know we all have those issues!
ellybella – Cute that your grandma is buying stuff!
Shannon – Great buys! Good luck with your MRI next week.
tuni – Congrats on being an aunt again!
Junk – I’m glad your doctors are coming up with a plan for the cyst. Sounds like they are being proactive about it, which helps ease your mind, I’m sure.
brooke – Cute picture!
– Congrats on telling work! That feels great, doesn’t it?
dec27bride – Congrats on finding out!!! YAY for a little girl. I like the u/s tech’s comment, too.:D
QOTD – What are you going to be for Halloween? We have this huge party each year and I am such a huge Halloween person I always make a totally originally, great costume. This year we’re still having our party, but I didn’t even begin to think of costumes cause I don’t know how I’ll big I’ll be by then. Anyone else have costume plans?
09-27-2005, 11:42 AM
JennW - I can't remember where I saw this, but on one of these boards I read about a mom-to-be going as a Catholic school girl for Halloween. (Apologies to any devout Catholics in the thread, but as a Unitarian member of a Catholic family I thought that was hilarious.)
09-27-2005, 11:43 AM
Congratulations on your little girl Dec27bride!
Are we tracking this on the first page? Has the Chinese lunar calendar predictor been correct?
JennW- I hear you on the annoyance factor. I specifically signed the "do not consent" for HIV test and pointed it out to the doc and his staff and was still tested for it. Nice huh? Maybe it is stupid to not want to be tested in this day and age, but I didn't. I didn't consider myself at risk and therefore didn't want to take the test, but I guess now I know.
ajb524 - Good luck with the moving!
honey_bee - I do hope my nesting response kicks in a bit early, because I sure have a lot of "home" work to do. And we want to do a home reno project set to start around the time the baby is born and have done little legwork on that one. Fortunately, we are not going to be actually living in the home that will be renovated.
Just wanted to share. Need to do something fitness minded so I bought these:

elenitsa - I believe that dec27bride's girl scores one for kathleen's mom's version of the calendar.
Reposted here: http://www.baby-parenting.com/baby/chart.html
Just a quick stop by, no SO's for right now except two things.
Awesome bellies ladies! Dec- Congrats on the little girl! So exciting! That makes 4 girls in our March baby family!
As for the lunar calendar, You betcha I am keeping track. The lunar chart I posted was wrong, but the one I think Kathleen posted was accurate.
If I have missed anyone please let me know!
Thanks to all the ladies who have already gone through this, informing us that there is no need to worry about the SS paperwork. One less thing to do! :D
Oh and to the insurance lady out there. Thank you so much for mentioning the deductable for the baby, duuuhhhhhhh, wasn't even thinking about that either!
09-27-2005, 11:56 AM
Congratulations on your girl, Dec!! How exciting! Hee about the u/s tech's comments. :)
qotd AFP I also opted out. Didn't see a reason for it, especially because it only gives you estimates, not definitives.
qotd Halloween I don't know yet. Our social circle isn't huge on Halloween parties, and the past few years I haven't really dressed up when handing out candy to trick or treaters.
I've definitely felt more energetic the past few days. Last night I took the dog on a walk, did grocery shopping and then came home and made supper. Usually I make DH to it. :p

congrats on your daughter dec27bride!
I don't think I ever put in my predictions or what the chinese charts said for me. I don't have a strong feeling yet about the gender, but I've had two "boy" dreams so far. I didn't have a single gender dream with my DD. So, I'm predicting boy. Both charts, on the other hand, say girl.
tgal - nice chart!
Great belly shots everyone! We have yet to take a single picture. Would help if DH were home every now and then (he's traveling a lot for work).
ETA - I had a routine OB visit today. HB sounded good at 152 and I've gained 3.5 lbs so far. I am pretty sure I'd gained at least 3 times that by now in my last pregnancy. But I gained 65lbs total last time, so I'm definitely not looking to repeat that. OB said my uterus is measuring big, but I didn't ask *how* big. He said that's not unusual in 2nd pregnancies, so I'm not giving it much thought. I do think I'm about 4 days further along than they do though. I don't think that would show up in measurements.
09-27-2005, 12:25 PM
Good afternoon ladies! I'm home sick today, i just can't stop gagging and i was having some cramps, so I figured i'd take a day to rest up. Of course this involved watching tonnes of daytime TV. I just cried my way through "Raising Helen". i've seen it before and don't remember bawling like that!! Guess pg hormones are in full swing today, that may explain the m/s.
congratulations on your baby girl dec27bride!!!
jenn, i think it would be fun to be a preggo nun :D Even if you need to "add" a little to the belly, it would still be hilarious! Other than that, if you have a little belly, you could be an x-baywatch star, or ms. teen parent USA, an angel, a condom spokesman, a beer-bellied man in a wife beater and stubble, or a belly dancer, or a sumo wrestler, or (hehe) a shotgun preggo bride or something like that. I am going to totally play up being preggers for halloween myself, so if I come up with anything else, i'll let you know :D
Sorry no more replies, i need to go back to the couch :(
09-27-2005, 12:28 PM
tgal-Thought I posted about this, but apparently not. Who knows, thoughts are fleeting in this prego brain lately.
My Prediction: Girl, at the moment
T's Chart: Boy
K's Chart: Girl
Contrats Dec on your little GIRL!
09-27-2005, 12:31 PM
oh shoot! I forgot to post -
I have my big ultrasound booked for October 20!
09-27-2005, 12:42 PM
tgal - Can you change my personal prediction to "boy"? I'm feeling more boy vibes these days. Merci!
09-27-2005, 12:46 PM
Hello all - I have been so bad at posting since I joined, but I have been keeping up with my reading. Maybe because not that much has been going on - it has been a very uneventful pregnancy (not that I am complaining). Most of the time I still have a hard time believing that there really is someone in there.
I still haven't had a chance to see my baby at all - is there anyone else who hasn't had any sort of ultrasound yet?
I told my boss today and he took it really well. I wasn't expecting him to take it badly, but he took it even better than I expected. Of course being in Canada it means that I am allowed to take a year off so you never know how people will take it, but he was really positive.
I have a question about the quad screening. When is it typically done? At my first appointment it was never mentioned. We were given the option of doing the nuchal translucency (which we didn't do), but I haven't heard anything about the quad screening. I have my next appointment on Oct. 17 so maybe it will come up then. I also have to schedule my ultrasound sometime between Oct. 27 and Nov.10.
Right now we aren't planning to find out the sex. I always thought that I would have to know, but now that I am actually in the situation I think that it would be fun to wait. Right now I have no guess about the sex. Initially I was thinking boy and then I changed my mind and thought girl and now I just don't know. I have had a few people guess boy and on the chinese predictor chart (not sure which one) it said boy, but for now I am remaining undecided.
I hope I can start posting a little more regularly so that you all can get to know me better!
GREAT belly shots, everyone! Hoping to get off my duff and take one tonight....'course, then I have to figure out how to upload pics to my computer from my (sorta new) camera. :)
Congratulations on your little girl, Dec!!! How funny that you felt so sure it was a boy!
I'm dying to see how close everyone else's predictions are; I'm kinda bummed that I really didn't think about it much (what I "felt" like I was having) before we learned their actual sexes.
JennW: Our friends who usually throw a big Halloween party probably aren't going to throw one this year :( , so I doubt I'll dress up. But I know someone who was pregnant (and a grad student in Linguistics, so she obviously loves language & words) and wore a black top and black pants with animal paw prints all over it. She told everyone she was a "pregnant pause." <insert collective groan here>
Elenitsa: you'll have to tell us how you like those DVDs! Not that I can do any of them (yet) - see below re: my butt/hip pain, but hopefully before I give birth! :)
kdopt: yay! So happy you're feeling more energetic! Wanna come over and make dinner at *my* house? ;)
mom2amelia: glad to hear the h/b was solid. And I dunno about the "official" measurements, but everyone I've known has been bigger a LOT faster with baby #2. It's always funny to me because that seems to be one of the only "maxims" about pregnancy that I've actually noticed is true!
red: oh, I'm so sorry to hear you're still feeling icky!! Enough, already! (maybe if we start yelling at your m/s, it'll go away). Hope you feel better soon!
Not much new here. AFP results came back "within the normal range." The test is much less accurate for twins, but any positive news is always good news at our house.
I'm patting myself on the back today because not only did I meet a horrible work deadline this morning WITHOUT having to pull any all-nighters, but I also just ate 3 servings of vegetables for lunch. I really *wanted* a tuna melt, but decided that I'd save that for tomorrow (after all the junk I ate this weekend, I have some food penance to pay...)
The only other "news" is that the hip/butt pain that I've been experiencing since week five is baaaaaack after a (too brief!) four-day reprieve. Ugh. PT, here I come!!!
09-27-2005, 01:43 PM
klm2klh ~~It's hard, I know! We didn't get an early u/s with my first pregnancy so we had to wait until 17-18 weeks to see the baby. I'm with a new OB/MW group but I think I only got one because of my possible chemical pregnancies. Hang in there!
Halloween ~~I was a drunken housewive with my first pregnancy. Not sure we're hitting the big party this year or not since we aren't really into Halloween but I've been thinking about being a Hooter's Girl if I can find a pair of orange shorts to squeeze into. Might need to check out the sports store now!
kat~~I'm sorry your pain is back:(
gender stuff~~K's chart says boy and the other says girl. My first instincts were girl but now I'm leaning towards boy. I just *knew* right away that Aiden was a boy so this stinks not having a strong feeling either way! I have an OB appointment next Wednesday so I'll schedule the u/s then and hopefully we'll be able to find out. Aiden wouldn't move at all during the first u/s so we had to wait until 31-32 weeks to confirm my intuition. I'll be sure to have a couple of Mt. Dews before this one.
I seem to vomit once a week-week and a half these days. Annoying but better than before. Other than that nothing new, really. Still tired and hoping for that to go away soon as well:) I never experienced a huge *second wind* with Aiden but am really needing it these days. I need to get off my duff and start sewing and knitting again. That nad actually keeping up with the housework;)
09-27-2005, 01:54 PM
And, FWIW, I believe T's chart is correct for my first pregnancy.
09-27-2005, 03:05 PM
Can I be a part of the gender chart? THANKS!
My prediction - Girl
K's Chart - Girl
T's Chart - Girl
09-27-2005, 03:10 PM
ce kat- Yes, it is amazing how good it felt to tell work. It is funny. Everyone keeps asking me how I am feeling. I keep teling them that I am a month into the second trimester and they freak out. They are really shocked when they found outr that it stayed hidden for so long in such a small town.
dec- CONGRATS on your little girl!!! How is hubby feeling about it?
JennW- I saw once that a girl wore sweat pant pulled up to the knees, long tube socks, a football jersey, and black paint under her eyes. She painted her belly like a football, and walked around like a football player holding onto the ball (her belly). I thought it was very original.
tgal- Add me please! I did predict boy, but now I really don't know. I am not feeling one or the other. K's chart says: girl, T's chart says boy. Boy or girl? We'll find out next Friday!!!!
klm2klh- I have yet to see Little M...sy either. I am in Canada as well. My first u/s will be the big one next Friday at 19 weeks 2 days. Sucks, huh?
Everyone's belly shots are great. I am taking them every 4 weeks. But, I may start taking them more often now that I am really beginning to pop.
Have a great day everyone!!
09-27-2005, 03:20 PM
Can you add me???
My Prediction: Girl
T's Chart: Boy
K's Chart: Boy
Supposedly fighter pilots tend to have girls if they are flying a lot when
they conceive because of all of the G's they pull. I have no idea why
this happens or if it is really true but it will be interesting to see because
Chris certainly was flying all the time!
So, we are definitely moving to Rhode Island for a year! It is happening
so fast! We put our house up for rent on Saturday and Chris goes up
there this weekend to try to find us a place to rent! We are hoping to
come back here when the year is up, but basically Chris is at a point
in his Navy career where he could pretty much pick anywhere to go
since he will be doing a non-flying tour so who knows where we will
dec Congrats on your little girl!
Probably nothing, sadly enough. That is the week before we move and
I know that we will be swamped with stuff to do! Its sad because I
do love Halloween. Last year I was strawberry shortcake.
sorry the pain is back!
sorry you are feeling sick :( Feel better soon!
My dr does the quad screen at 16 weeks but Im not sure what
the "range" of dates that you can do it is.
09-27-2005, 04:10 PM
tgal Can you add me? I don't have a strong prediction either way, and K's chart says boy, T's chart says girl.
Congratulations on your daughter, dec27bride!
QOTD - Halloween I borrowed a "vampiress" costume from a friend that will show off my belly quite nicely!
09-27-2005, 05:44 PM
tgal ~ K's chart says Girl for me. :)
Dec27 ~ Congrats on your girl!
Triple Screen/Quad Screen ~ My doctor said we could do that test between 15 and 19 weeks. That's why she pushed my September appointment back by a week, so I could get the triple or quad screen done if I wanted. I still have to decide. Guess I gotta decide by Thursday morning!
Halloween ~ No idea! I want to dress up, as I LOVE Halloween, even though all I'll be doing is giving out candy!
Okay, so as scary as these are, I have belly shots:
4w (please ignore the sunlight on me!)
14w (I look like a DORK!):
09-27-2005, 06:00 PM
Hey ladies! I know I haven't been in here in a while but just wanted to let you all know that we got an u/s this past weekend by DH's cousin and we are pretty sure it's a girl! It was done right at 16wks so it's not positive, but pretty sure. My reg u/s will be in a few weeks and hopefully they will confirm it! :) My next dr appt is Oct. 6th (if you could update my info please!)
Question~ Also I was wondering, have any of you ladies had a problem with your siatic nerve already?? I didn't have a problem with it when pg with Natalie until I was about 8mo, but for the last 3 weeks or so it has really been killing me! :( If any of you have, do you have any suggestions to help relieve the discomfort?? It hits me a lot when I am at work (standing all the time) and it just makes my day even longer! Any ideas to help would be greatly appreciated!
Well, my little girl is calling my attention! :p Hope you ladies have a great day!
09-28-2005, 07:03 AM
kristine80 ~~Wow! Congrats on your second girl!
Y'all are making me jealous with all this finding out;)
09-28-2005, 07:14 AM
Congrats Dec on your little GIRL!!!!
kristine80 not really sure what siatic pain is/feels like but I have been having some pain in my tailbone/hips and it makes it hard to walk! I have been doing some yoga poses to help (basically anything to loosen my hip/butt area up seems to help for a short time). But by the end of the day the pain is back and I do some poses again before bed. I also found that sleeping on my back makes it worse and sitting on a hard surface (the floor) makes it worse. I hope I gave you some ideas that may bring relief!
MrsCantDecide love the belly shots!
Tracie you will be so cute in your costume, take pics and share!
amychris03 congrats on your move! Don't over-exert your self while packing ;) (that's what I said when I moved last year while PG so my family came to help me)
phart so sorry that you are still not feeling well! I can't imagine how you are managing your little one at home and all while still feeling yucky!
kat I too have been having hip/butt pain and it almost feels like my hips are not aligned or something is out of joint. I hope your pain gets some relief and its better to take care of it now so you can manage until the end!
klm2klh not sure what the "range" is to take the test but when I go to the Dr next week I will be 17w 3d and he said I could get it done then or the week after
tgal my predicition is girl (although its not a strong feeling), T chart says boy and K chart says girl
red so sorry you are not feeling well and I hope you are better today!
mom2amelia good to hear things are progressing normally! I wonder if I will be measuring ahead since this is #2 for me too, guess I will find out next week.
My next OB appt is Oct 6
09-28-2005, 08:07 AM
Morning Ladies! Just a couple of things for today.
klm2klh- I'm haven't *seen* our baby yet, either. :( It's frustrating, but I have scheduled the big ultrasound and am counting down the days. I'll be 20w3d then and I can't wait! Hang in there. My N.P. said that they like to do the quad screen beteween 15 and 18 weeks. Hope that helps.
Congrats kristine80 on your little GIRL. That is just so exciting. Seems we are having a run on girls in here lately!
MrsCantDecide- Cute baby belly you have! :D
Just stopping by to post the revised chart up until this point. I'll have to make this more legible with some software on my home pc later.
I'll drop by a little later with some SO's.
09-28-2005, 08:54 AM
Thanks for the congrats girls! When we found out, I was a little relieved but a little dissapointed at the same time. We both would have really loved a boy, but at the same time we have all this girl stuff and I think Natalie would really love a little sister!
Kathleen~ It feels to me like a shooting pain from my hip/butt down to my toes... I was laying in bed the other night, and it just shot down my leg and it hurt alot! I will definately try some stretches, I hadn't thought about that. Since it has to do mostly with the nerve I think that might help... I can't sleep on my back cause my lower back has been really achy lately and that just makes it worse so I have been sleeping on my side a lot lately. Which is kinda wierd since I was always a stomach sleeper before I got pg with Nat, but it's just not that comfy anymore. Could be cause my quickly growing belly! :p Thanks for the suggestions, I will definatley try them!
Congrats Dec as well to your little girl! :) Any names picked out yet?? DH and I still need to decide on one, we really thought it would be a boy, so we hadn't thought much about a girl name.
Loving the belly shots ladies! I will have to post mine soon, before they are outdated! :p
Ok, back to work.... Have a great day ladies! :)
kristine: first off, congratulations on your little girl!
Second, what you have sounds like classic sciatica pains to me. Now, I'm not a doctor, but my mother and my husband both suffer from sciatica, and that's exactly the way they describe it -- "shooting" pain down to the toes.
My husband went to an orthopedic surgeon and a physical therapist to get relief and my mother went to a chiropractor. In both cases, they were given exercises/stretches to do and it helps. I wish I had some artisitic talent (that, and the right computer program LOL) so I could "draw" the stretches for you. Have you told your OB about it? He/she could refer you to physical therapy - that's what mine did. Good luck!
ce_Kathleen: that pain you're having sounds SO MUCH like mine. I, too, feel like the joint is just out of place. Having trouble walking when it's bad, too. So yoga helps? I've been emailing our local yoga studio and WANT to give prenatal yoga a try, but I was worried that with my sore joint I wouldn't be able to stand, let alone pose. :) I'll have to give yoga a try!
09-28-2005, 10:11 AM
Morning ladies -- happy Wednesday.
Question for you all: Is the AFP the same as the quad screen? Curious about that.
Also, if our Dear Threadmistress wants to add that I have my amnio on Oct 7 that would be great. I'll be 16w3d then. We haven't booked the big ultrasound yet but the perinatologist who is doing my amnio is also going to be doing my big ultrasound so I suspect I'll book it next week.
Otherwise, next OB appointment is Oct 24th.
Hope all is well. My regular clothes are tight as can be. Oh yeah, I stopped at Babystyle and they are having a nice maternity sale at the actual brick and mortar store if you live near one. Picked up a few cute things.
Loving the belly shots. You're all inspiring to bare my middle and take a picture one of these days.
Signing off for now, XO XO XO ~Lisa
09-28-2005, 10:21 AM
kat When I do yoga (and this is what I was always told when I took classes) is to "hold" the pose as long as is comfortable. There are times when I feel more like I am just stretching/relaxing that "posing". I do what feels good for me and then if I need/want I repeat. I also did ballet for many years (up until I got PG with DS) so that helps so I know some stretches to do also but I have been using more yoga lately. When I talked to my mom about it (she is a labor/delivery RN) she said that there is a joint there and with our hormones relaxing things we could be getting out of alignment and if things get bad some PT or a chiro may be able to help. I hope you can find some relief! I just keep worrying that its just going to get worse towards the end and that scares me so I am trying to stretch/relax in the morning and evening and it seems to help.
09-28-2005, 10:33 AM
Thanks Kat! My next ob appt is next Thursday and I am definatley going to mention it! It had just started and wasn't that bad at my last appt so I didn't think it would be that big of a deal, but it is now! I was wondering if physical therapy might help it but I will have to wait to hear what my doc says... Thanks so much for your help!
Also, Kathleen and Kat one of my co-workers who is due next month has the pain you both are talking about. She had gone to a chiro and that seemed to help her hip/butt pain, maybe that might help?? She is in her last month and it is feeling much better for her now...
09-28-2005, 10:45 AM
I'm cramming in a quick post while I eat lunch - hopefully I'll be back later for real shout outs. And I really do plan to post my belly shots soon. Everytime I think about posting them, I realize that they no longer reflect the state of my ever-growing belly!
I wanted to report that according to
K's chart I'm having a boy, and according to
T's chart it's a girl. Not sure how it works with twins - maybe it's one of each?
I'm still feeling like it is 2 boys, but DH thinks it is one of each. I can't wait to find out - less than a week now!
09-28-2005, 10:46 AM
tgal my (and dh's) prediction is girl.
dec & kristine congrats on your girls! so exciting that you know.
junk i was wondering the same thing about that test. i'm a sucker for tests too. i enjoy going to the dr.
AFP Screen i had no idea it was optional! at my appointment on friday the dr. said to schedule an appt. for two weeks to get the afp. dh and I are 31 and 30 respectively and have no family history. so i'm curious as to why he ordered it. guess i'll find out on the 7th.
movement?? has anyone else not experienced any movement?
09-28-2005, 11:25 AM
Updated to here. :)
09-28-2005, 11:29 AM
So no ultrasound at yesterday's appointment, pout pout. AND I had to take the one-hour glucose test, the TB test, and have blood drawn for the AFP - you'd think I'd deserve a reward after all that! I did get to schedule the BIG u/s though - October 25th. Not sure I can wait that long.
Did get to hear the heartbeat. I think my OB expected me to be more excited than I was. Didn't bother explaining that although it was the first time I heard the heartbeat in the office, I've been listening to it at home for weeks now.
09-28-2005, 11:44 AM
tunibell- I think my doc was the same way about the hb. For me I was excited to know that I had been listening to the right thing though ;)
As far as movement goes I *think* I might be feeling something. I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and I've been feeling lots of fluttering this week. I've felt it off and on a lot the past couple of days. A friend of mine from high school is due in November so I've been asking her a bunch of stuff and she said she started feeling fluttering around 16w, but wasn't convinced it was the baby until about 18w so I'm right on track with her.
I went this morning for my screening. All they did was take a vial of blood. Can I mention how much it sucks to have tiny veins! Thank goodness the girl today didn't want to poke around looking for a vein. Instead she just took it out of my hand. It hurts a lot less that way.
Is anyone else RH-? I've known for a while that I am. DH doesn't know what his blood type is so I'll have the Rhogam shot somewhere around 28w.
09-28-2005, 11:55 AM
Wow, we have been a chatty bunch lately.
I know I won't get to all the SO's, but I'll try a few.
Sorry Tuni about no u/s! 10/25 will be here before you know it and you'll have a better idea of the sex then.
Ellybella, no movement here, but I'm only 15 wks. I've basically put it out of my mind and am trying to not even think about it until 18 weeks. I'm not expecting to feel anything before then.
kat and ce_kathleen, thanks for the advice on sciatic pain. I think I have minor case of that as well. I'm very stiff when I get up after sleeping or sitting for a long period of time. It is right in the hip/butt area. I need to work on stretching more.
kristine, congrats on your little girl!!! You are right that while it is fun to have one of each, there are benefits of having that sister relationship.
mcd, cute belly!!
amychris, good luck with your move to Rhode Island. Things will be hectic, but it is probably nice to finally know where you're going.
klm, glad to hear it went well with telling your boss. Is the 1 year leave paid or unpaid? Very nice.
phart, ugh sorry about the continued morning sickness even if it isn't that often...no fun!
mom2amelia, glad your appt went well. I've heard too that the uterus expands a lot quicker the second time around, so it probably isn't too big of a deal that you are measuring larger.
red, hope you're feeling better today. Good ideas on the Halloween costumes!
tgal, thanks for keeping the gender chart updated. That'll be fun to compare how accurate we all are.
jenn, sorry I can't offer much in the way of Halloween costume ideas. We typically don't do much for Halloween. Although some of the other girls have given some great ideas, I may be more inspired to do something this year :)
Sorry to the others I missed...that is all I could catch up with for now! Hope all the March mommies are doing well.
Nothing too new to report on my end. I've been pretty achy the past few days, some cramping and lower back pain. Since the cramping seems more achy than period type cramps, I'm not worrying too much. My guess is that I'm going through a growth spurt right now. Anyone else getting that type of cramping or back pain?
09-28-2005, 12:23 PM
Ellybella ~ I'm not feeling the movements either... but remember, we're early still, for being 1st time moms trying to feel the heartbeat.
Thanks for the compliments on the belly shots, it's still so weird to be posting stuff like my belly on the internet!!
09-28-2005, 12:30 PM
ellybella~~I was 17-18 weeks before I first felt movement with DS and even then I wasn't positive. The good kicks, etc. came closer to 20 weeks.
09-28-2005, 01:00 PM
movement?? has anyone else not experienced any movement?
I still haven't *really* felt the baby move. With my first pregnancy I didn't feel the baby move AT ALL until around 25 weeks! Even then, she never moved or kicked much. Made me nuts.
09-28-2005, 01:04 PM
ajb524 I am RH- (my blood type is A neg and my DH is O pos and my DS is O pos). With DS it was no big deal. I did have to get an extra rhogam shot b/c I was in a car accident with him and I started spotting and I was on vacation so my Dr told me to go to the ER and get a rhogam just to be safe. But after that I just got the regular shot at 28w and then again after the delivery since DS is O pos. The only thing about the shot is that I found that it really stings! Not the needle part but the medicine they inject caused my behind (shot in the butt) to sting and feel like it was hot for a short while. My Dr made me stay for like 20 min after the shot to ensure I had no reactions to it and by the time I was leaving my butt felt fine again.
Not sure if there is anything different about a PG when you are RH- besides the rhogam but I don't recall having to do anything above/beyond the normal call of duty. :)
09-28-2005, 01:34 PM
Good afternoon ladies!
I am having a pretty boring day - not much going on work wise. Last night I took my dog Stanley (he is a 1 yr old black lab) to obedience training. We are actually repeating the class, we took it the first time last spring when he was about 6 months old and I don't think he was really ready. Hopefully this time he will catch on to a few of the things he missed the first time. My husband and I also have a 10 year old chocolate lab named Theo. So I live is a house full of males - maybe this baby will be a girl and even thigs out a little!
Tonight I have my second prenatal yoga class. I started last week and feel like a bit of an imposter being there since all of the other women appear to be much more pregnant than I am, but I figured the sooner the better. I also have a pregnancy fitness class that starts tonight too so I will be busy (plus I have to try and watch Veronica Mars!)
Heidi - you were asking whether my year off was paid or unpaid. I guess technically it is unpaid as my employer doesn't pay me, but I will receive Employment Insurance benefits from the federal government. It works out to about 55% of your salary to a maximum of $413/week (plus they take tax off that too). So it isn't as much as if I were working, but it will still be nice to stay home with my baby and still have some $$ coming in.
Hope everyone has a great day!
09-28-2005, 02:14 PM
Hi Everyone! I don't feel the baby yet either. I thought I did, but it seems that is probably just round ligament pain as it is low in the abdomen and pretty forceful.
More items on the list of things to do before baby arrives:
529 Savings account for college
Enroll in a flex spending account at work if you have that option. I think child care services can be put in the account pre-taxes too!
09-28-2005, 02:31 PM
Good call on the items to add to the list Elensita!
I'm the kind of person that once I have a list, I want to immediately start crossing things off. So this morning I just enrolled Dh & I in a pediatric CPR class. The class isn't until December but at least I can put it on my calendar now. And I've also been looking into drafting a Will (thanks for the valuable input Cyndi!)
I'm not feeling any movement. I am, however, feeling like I have a very full abdomen. I'm still in regular clothes but I'm definitely feeling like somethings down there now.
I'm loving the belly shots! :D
ETA: Doh! I forgot to say CONGRATULATIONS to Kristine!!! :D
DH doesn't know what his blood type is so I'll have the Rhogam shot somewhere around 28w.
I'm RH - , but so is DH, so I can skip the Rhogam. You could also have him get a blood test.....
junk: Maybe AFP is one of the four things in the "quad" screen? That I do not know.
Late for meeting....
09-28-2005, 03:25 PM
Boy, I go a few days without checking this and whoa! There are at least 10 new pages of news! I am sorry I can never do SOs....I am in the midst of studying for a big midterm. No fun!
My DH takes his LSAT on Saturday. He is so nervous. He has been preparing for it since February...and it is a huge deal for us. On Monday, he had a panic attack...which is so odd. So, I made him go see someone at the Student Health Center...she gave him something, but more importantly...she talked to him and calmed him down. It was wonderful!
I just keep growing like no other! I will post my belly shot from last night at the end of this email! Like many of you, I chose not to get any of the testing. In my view, which is mostly based on my religion, it doesn't matter if I have a child with down syndrome or anything for that matter. I would keep the baby regardless...
From now on, I will be seeing a Perinatologist and my normal OB. My appointment for the BIG u/s is on Oct. 19 and that is with the Perinatologist. Then, I have a follow-up appointment with the OB on Oct. 24. Hopefully, the u/s will still show that I am having girls because I have bought quite a bit of pink stuff this past week.
This past few days, all I can think of is about becoming a mom. I waited for so long and made the decision with a lot of thought, but now, I am so scared of it. I don't know if I am ready. My DH is so serene about all this....and I am freaking out. Am I the only one?
I love seeing all the tummies growing. This is the exciting part of pregnancy in my opinion. Congrats to all the ones who have found out genders already...fun, fun!
Hugs to all of you...and keep those pictures coming! Sorry that my time is always short here...Thanks for being understanding of this full-time student and full-time worker!
09-28-2005, 03:26 PM
I am in shock. Doctor just called. I had the Nuchal trans screen and passed with flying colors.
However Monday's AFP came up positive for T-21. I am devastated. My doctor assured me that false positives happen all the time, and she currently has 2 patients that were both T-21 false +'s, but I'm freaking out.

Junk - I totally know how you feel having had the same reaction after we were told of the soft marker for downs found on the us... Doctors tell you not to worry...hello??? I know. Not an easy task. Thoughts are with you...I'm sure everything is fine.
Thanks to all for your support…just received results of our NT tests…results brought our DS chances down to 1/50,000 and our chances of neural tube defects down to 1/6,100…haven’t spoke to my OB yet, but think we’re going to opt not to do an amnio….
K’s chart - Boy
T’s chart - Girl
My prediction – Girl
Have a great rest of the week all – heading to Alabama for work until Sunday…
09-28-2005, 03:56 PM
Oh Lisa, I'm so sorry. I hope and pray everything will turn out okay. When will you be able to find out for sure?
09-28-2005, 04:13 PM
Junk - I have to think that since your NT results were great that this must be one of those notorious false positives. Can you get your amnio moved up maybe? Until then...all crossables are crossed, and we have some powerful crossables in this group.
Edited to add: I just read on Baby Center that the NT test is a much better screen for DS/Tris-21 than the AFP. Hope that helps a little.
09-28-2005, 04:15 PM
Shannon: We go in for the genetic counseling and amnio on Monday of next week (threadmistress: my amnio is being moved to Oct 3 -- sorrry about that!) and I'm not sure how long it takes to get the results back. Hopefully not too long.
Oy, yoy, one thing after the other...sheesh!
Brooke: I don't think I remember what your soft marker test was -- would you mind sharing again?
09-28-2005, 04:34 PM
Junk - Sure...we had great NT test results and a seemingly great first anatomical us (not sure if this is the 'big' one..is it?)..saw fingers, toes, wonderful experience... 5 days later, when OB received the report, they noted that they saw a 'bright spot' on the heart, or EIF, which is a very controversial (so I learned) 'soft' marker for DS. My OB said most don't even mention it to their patients as there is such little research, which I didn't find reassuring in the least... Found a couple good boards here (http://bbs.babycenter.com/board/baby/babyills/babyconditions/1378212/thread/2496033) and here (http://www.pregnancy-info.net/QA/answers-Echogenic_foci_spots_on_the_fetus_heart) - - the babycenter site may be helpful for you as well as there are lots of discussions regarding prenatal testing. Helped put my mind at ease that there were others out there freaking out over the same things...
09-28-2005, 04:43 PM
junk I'm so sorry about your AFP test. I'm hoping it's a false positive!
kristine Congratulations on your girl!
Movements Haven't felt a gosh darn thing!
09-28-2005, 05:49 PM
Tunibell - Thanks so much for posting that re: NT being more accurate than AFP. You made me feel tons better.
And you are right -- we are a wonderful, powerful and supportive group and I couldn't ask for a better group of "mommies to be" to be going through this crazy experience with. Tearing up now...
Brooke: Thanks for sharing that!!
Lisa, I can understand entirely why you'd be freaking out (I know I would!) but hopefully your great nuchal results mean this is one of the false positives. And I'm glad you're having the amnio moved up.
I have no idea how long amnio results take, but in my case the CVS results took about a week (and since the tests are similar in that they both retrieve & grow chromosomes, I'm just guessing that the turnaround time might be similar, too).
All crossables crossed for you that this was just a fluke. Your doctor's attitude about it makes me optimistic that it was. Just wish you didn't have to wait so long to find out!!!! (There's no way they could do the amnio even sooner? Maybe you're more patient than I am, but I know that for me, the wait for the post-amnio results would be long enough -- having to wait even longer would drive me nuts).
Anyway, we'll all be thinking about you until this scare has passed.
QOTD (movement): I'm now 17w5d, and I haven't felt a thing, either. I keep thinking that with twins I should feel something sooner than a singleton pregnancy, but maybe my uterus has grown enough to compensate for that already and I'll feel something in the "typical" 18-22 week window.
09-28-2005, 06:41 PM
Kat: From what I understood, amnio has to be done at 16 weeks earliest, so that's when my window of time opens. I just talked to a friend who had the *exact* same experience so I feel a little better.
QOTD: Feeling nothing....BUT............Anyone have extra sore nipples/boobs? I have noticed an increase in this area in the last week or so...anyone else?
09-28-2005, 08:14 PM
junk I responded in your thread but wanted to mention FYI that from what I know, amnio results can take a couple weeks to come back, but you can have unofficial or preliminary results called FISH results much sooner. I believe no longer that 4-7 days later. Keep positive thoughts! (I know easier said than done...)
Lisa: D'oh!! So sorry. I keep forgetting that we don't all have exactly the same due date.
Oh, and the doctors offered us "FISH" (quicker results) when we did CVS, but it was $800 and they said that it was "unlikely" our insurance would pay for it. Now, we didn't even bother to check our insurance coverage because they'd told us it'd (only) be a week for results and we weren't in the same situation as you, so it wasn't a big deal for us to wait.
I'm glad that talking to your friend made you feel better!!
09-28-2005, 09:08 PM
junk, i have nothing to add information wise to the results, but i just wanted to let you know I'm sending tonnes of positive thoughts your way and keeping everything crossed :) BIG *HUGS*!!! Also,
Anyone have extra sore nipples/boobs? ha! funny you should mention this, my right nipple has really been bothering me! leftie too, but not as often. It's almost an itchy, hurty pain, quite annoying in public :p Dh was embarrassed when I had to reach *inside* to do some quick scratching in the car
09-29-2005, 05:46 AM
Good morning ladies!
I can't remember who took the 5 week blood test to find out the sex (and am too lazy to go back to the old thread to check) - but I just heard the tail end of a report on NPR about the test. I missed most of the report, but it may be on their website if anyone is interested.
Nothing exciting to report here -still holding my breath until next week's big u/s. I wonder if I will ever get to the point where I am not looking for constant affirmation that everything is okay in there.
Junk - I am so sorry about the test results - but I agree with everyone else - sounds like the chances are good for a false positive! And Monday is not so far off now - hopefully you'll have some peace of mind soon. And I am with you on the boob pain -- mine have been very sore again lately. I think (to DH's delight) that they might be growing again. Ugh. I remember reading early on in one of my pg books that some women need to sleep in their bras - I think I am approaching that state!
Kristine and Dec -- congratulations on your little girls! What is our official count so far? Five girls and 1 boy?
AmyChris - Good luck with your big move to Rhode Island! Have you spent time up there before? New England is so pretty in the fall!
Lovin it -- Hope your DH is doing okay - wishing him luck on the LSAT! I remember being very nervous before taking it (yikes! I just realized that was 10 years ago!). Are you guys doing anything fun to celebrate post-exam?
movement - I may have felt some fluttering - but it may be gas - I still can't really tell. My OB did tell me at some point that I might not feel one of the twins for awhile because one of the placentas is muffling all of his/her movement.
I love all of the belly shots! Here are my 17 week headless twin belly shots:
Can't remember who said this - but it does feel odd to post my belly on the internet!
Hope everyone has a great day!
09-29-2005, 07:42 AM
junk I responded to your other thread but my thoughts are with you and hoping you get some quick resolution to this!
QOTD movement - depending on where your placenta is may cause you to feel movement later than others. Just trying to reassure others as to why you may/may not be feeling movement yet.
QOTD boobs - my nipples have been so sore lately and I never had this with DS so I was beginning to worry. I am so glad to hear others are in the same boat.
Nothing new here, except that I am so jealous of those of you who have had your BIG u/s or who at least have it scheduled!!! I can't wait to go to the Dr next week and hopefully schedule my u/s! Is it better to get the u/s earlier or later if you want to find out the sex?
09-29-2005, 08:00 AM
Kathleen~~I think you want to schedule it somewhere between 18-22 but I think that's so they can fit all of baby in one shot.
boobs~~They were the first thing to grow/hurt with my first pregnancy. Then they didn't shrink after Aiden weaned (16 months) so I figured they wouldn't grow this time around. So wrong. They started hurting/growing a couple of weeks ago. Ouch.
09-29-2005, 08:40 AM
Congratulations on your girl Kristine! Sisters are fun. :)
Lisa I'm with everone else hoping that the AFP was a false positive.
on boobs Mine haven't been more sore, they're about the same as they've been to even a little less sore. Which is somewhat worrisome (to me) though I'm sure it's normal, or as normal as you can get in pregnancy.
Ugh. I had my second pg-related dream (that I remember) last night and it wasn't a great one. I dreamed the nurse couldn't find the hb (but was also searching for it by running a paddle-like device very quickly 2" above my stomach). I tried to tell her that she was going too fast and the baby sometimes likes to hide, but she didn't listen. They were going to take me to get an u/s but before we got there my alarm went off and I woke up. Of course, the first thing I did after waking was check for the hb. It took me a few seconds, but I found it (he was hiding!) I was finally really starting to feel comfortable with this pg, and now that's thrown it all off again. I really don't want to go through the next 20-24 weeks worrying about every little thing.
Junk - Sorry, but all that I have to add is that I am so sorry you have to go through this. You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep all of us posted.
Lovin all the belly shots ladies! Mine still looks like two big tummy rolls, so as soon as they come together as one, I will attempt a cute picture.
QOTD - Movement - Still feeling flutters from time to time, but based on what others have mentioned here, I think that the pulls in my lower abs are the round lig pains. I am also feeling pressure at the base of my tail bone from time to time, not sure what that is. It doesn't hurt, it just feels odd.
OOTD - Boobs- Nipples not sore, but TIM wow I am noticing that they are getting darker and bigger.
Things are going well here. I have had quite a bit of energy, but been consummed with a wedding that I am in in a few weeks. Things have been quite stressful with that and I can't wait until it is over because I am concerned about the stress with the baby and bp issue. Otherwise, I am feeling great, I just need time to do stuff for me! I made a wish list on Amazon per my MIL's request because she likes buying stuff in installments. She just bought the britax roundabout carseat, so that makes me happy. I already bought a peg perago infant seat, so got the two bigger things out of the way, well other than furniture. I am dying to find that crib though! I'll have to do more of an internet search today.
Lost was on last night, so no computer time at home last night. I will try to get the list reposted in a larger format tonight. Ladies, I can still add if anyone else wants to join!
09-29-2005, 08:56 AM
Junk Hugs to you on your test results! But I am also in the camp that thinks this is a false positive. I don't even think my MW does the quad at all b/c of all the false positives, only the NT test. In fact I was glad that I changed to my MW b/c my previous OB didn't even mention the NT test only the Quad. My MW said to me that be biggest and best indicator of DS tends to be the actual neck U/S measurement. That most children with DS tend to have VERY thick neck, she described it like a football player neck. So, please don't fret over this!
Kristine Congratulations on your little girl!
09-29-2005, 09:22 AM
Morning Ladies ~
I heart you all for all well wishes and positive vibes. DH did not take the news so well -- lately he's been seeing things as "half empty" and he's not being as supportive as I would like. It's nice to have you all here for me.
xo xo xo
09-29-2005, 09:48 AM
Lisa, big hugs to both you and DH. Sounds from what people were posting in your other threads that there is every reason to believe that you will have a good outcome but I know the waiting is no fun. I'll be thinking of you Monday - please let us know how everything goes.
amychris, good luck with your move and welcome to the northeast! I'm in Boston now but Rhode Island is one of the places DH and I have talked about for a future move. Where abouts in the state will you be?
Hi to everyone else! Had my second prenatal yoga class last night and am really enjoying it. I would definitely recommend it if you have a chance to take one! I'm still not sure whether I'm feeling movement or not - lots of little things that feel like muscle twitches. Originally they were just once in a while but the last couple days I've been getting them in batches. I'm hoping it's the baby - I will feel so much better about this pregnancy once I can feel it moving all the time!
Sorry I'm so bad about SO's. I realized that if I always waited until I had time to do proper SO's that I would never post!
09-29-2005, 10:40 AM
Mornin' all (and good afternoon to all you East Coasters)...
Had the [i]worst ligament pains last night. I seriously went to bed expecting my belly to be double in size by morning. This did not happen. I did, however, dream that Howard Stern was actually my baby's father and he kept buying the baby stuffed toucans. Bizarre, yes?
And finally, a shout out to klm2klh and all other Veronica Mars fans out there: (SPOILER ALERT WARNING, for any of you who TiVoed VM in favor of watching Lost...)
I personally did not wait three months to see Vernonica hook up with Duncan again. They have no chemistry whatsoever. I waited three months to see her get it on with Logan. Disappointed!
09-29-2005, 10:43 AM
So excited :D it seems like tonnes are going on baby related lately! Not only is our ultrasound booked for October 20th, but later that day we are going to do our hospital tour and pre-register! So freaking excited :D This coming monday we have our first midwife appt (after dumping the dick of an ob) and the top off those great things, on saturday my mom and I are going baby shopping :D wooo!

Bizarre! lol! However, I had some bad ligament and navel pains on Tuesday and my belly doubled in size that night. Ok, maybe it didn't really double in size, but it feels like it! My belly feels huge and I'm only carrying one! All the twin momma photos look amazing. :)
09-29-2005, 11:19 AM
Lisa~~I 'm thinking of you and DH. I think it's a bit harder on them too because they're often *disconnected* from the baby, especially early on. They can't really see much of a change and can't feel the baby yet so it's difficult for them.
09-29-2005, 11:25 AM
15 week belly shot
Compared with 12 weeks
I didn't think there was a difference but I can see there is now. I think I was about 20 weeks by the time I had this belly with Aiden.
09-29-2005, 11:56 AM
And for fun:
20w3d with Aiden (and doing the Macarena, it seems) vs 15w with this baby
09-29-2005, 12:37 PM
Great comparison Shannon! So cool! Both you and Bernie are looking awesome!
Nothing new to report here. Lisa, to answer your question I haven't really felt any extra-sensitive bbs lately. Although mine haven't even grown any at all since finding out I was pg.
Red, sounds like a fun month ahead!
kat, I've been meaning to ask you if all the baby stuff you ordered has gotten in yet and, if so, was it all in acceptable condition? I know it's kinda scary when you have to have it shipped.
tuni, WILD dream!
09-29-2005, 06:23 PM
Sorry I have been MIA this week. I am taking the LSAT and am doing last minute studying...... Today though I came home from work sick.... I just want to be able to eat normal again. This baby still hates everything..... So I am sitting here reading and decided to pop my head in. Had an OB appt yesterday nothing new.. HB was 150... I have my next OB appt on Oct. 27 and my big ultrasound on Nov. 3. But its not really that big as we are not finding out sex..... I hope all of you have a great weekend. To celebrate taking the LSAT we are going furniture browsing for the baby. ;)
09-29-2005, 07:24 PM
Good luck on the LSAT losthoosier and hope you're feeling better soon! Oh and be careful with the baby furniture browsing...my "browsing" turned into a small shopping spree. ;)
Shannon, yes, our cribs were delivered to our home a mere five days after I placed the order. :) I laughed so hard -- I'd heard all these horror stories about 5-month waits for cribs, so I wanted to order early. HA! The cribs came faster than the on-line orders I've placed with Gap Maternity!
As for the condition post-shipment.....we *think* everything is good. Finally took them out of the boxes last week, and right now they're sitting, unassembled, in our living room. :) I need to clean out the room that will be the nursery (hope to do that this weekend) and then DH will try putting them together to make sure we have all parts, etc. He noticed one small scratch on one of the cribs, but to me it isn't noticeable enough to care about (one of the "up" sides of getting a natural finish -- which I didn't like as much as darker finishes -- is that the scratches barely show).
tunibell, that dream is freakin' hilarious. Sorry to hear about your aches & pains, though. I didn't think the crappy nights' sleep started until late in pregnancy - boy, was I wrong.
aprilshowers, I'm really glad you like the prenatal yoga class. Still hoping to be able to pick up some classes soon. And I, too, feel lots of little "twitches" in my stomach, but most of the time it turns out to be gas. :D (Or my pulse, which is really strong).
redcanuck: congrats on booking the u/s and hospital tour!
yby1: I swear that my belly has grown in two huge "spurts," too!
phart: What an awesome comparison between the two pregnancies! The rest of you is so tiny, though, that I'm surprised it took you that long to get that big with Aidan. How did you manage NOT to grow wider in all the *other* parts of your body? ALL of me is bigger (I swear, even my head).
losthoosier: good luck on the LSAT! Is this "study for the LSAT" thing fairly new? When I took it (a decade ago; Bernie, you *are* my life doppleganger, I swear! :D ) I don't think anyone actually studied for it, and now I hear "I'm studying for the LSAT" all the time. What do you review to study for it? It seems like it'd be a pretty tough test to study for. Anyway, good luck!!
Tried to install the software to allow me to upload my belly shots.....and now we've discovered that my computer can't read CDs. Or at least *this* CD. Which frightens me, because when DH installed the software on his computer, it killed the computer (maybe a coincidence, but it makes me nervous that now my computer is having trouble with it, too).
So anyway, that means no belly shots yet.
Today I went to BRU and bought gifts for a friend's baby shower on Saturday (sooooo difficult when the baby is already 4 months old, you don't really know the person that well, and she isn't registered). Anyway, while I was there I bought our two carseats:
Graco Snugride - Mayfair.
BRU offers a 10% discount on certain items for parents of multiples, so for buying two we received 10% off. PLUS, I had a coupon for $10 off each carseat, so we saved some cash. I like saving cash. :D
(Went to Gap Maternity yesterday and bought a few more things, too -- most of it on sale, plus I used one $15 coupon and another $25 in "rewards" points).
I also learned that the Tiny Love company will give parents of twins a "buy one, get one free" discount, which is HUGE. Tiny Love makes the mobiles we want, plus the activity mat we want.....with their deal, we'll save about $90. I just have to get a note from my doctor saying I'm expecting twins, and they'll register me for the program. Soooooo helpful because having to buy doubles of everything all at once is really starting to pinch.
09-29-2005, 09:54 PM
Lisa ~ *HUGS* on waiting for the next rounds of tests. Makes me really wonder about getting these tests done myself. I hope with all of my heart for you, that it ends up being a false positive.
tgal ~ That's why I LOVE TIVO! I just watched Lost tonight. :)
Losthoosier ~ Good Luck on the LSAT! May you pass with flying colors!!
QOTD ~ Movement ~ Nothing, Nada Zip. :)
QOTD ~ The Girls ~ Those have been normal lately too. I think the growth spurt slowed down drastically too... good thing, I'm up to like 38 DDD or something! But I do hate that nipple itch!
Had my doctor's appt this afternoon. She was asking me about getting the quad or triple screen. I just can't make up my mind, and I'm scared to ask hubby. I don't think we'll have the same view if it does turn out that something IS wrong! So I'm leaning towards not getting it.
But the doctor found the h/b right away, it was beating at 158 - 159 bpm. She was even talking about how you could hear the baby's movement in there. :D I recorded it again so hubby could hear. :)
My next OB appt is: October 27th and my big u/s is October 28th.
My MIL stopped by this afternoon with 2 of the baby blankets she's knit, and a big bag full of clothes for me. Some maternity pants and everything. :D There was probably 5 or 6 outfits in there! She picked out some way cute stuff! I love my MIL!
Have a good Friday girls!
09-30-2005, 05:36 AM
Just popping in to wish you luck, losthoosier! How long do you have to wait for the results these days?
Kat - thanks for all of the shopping tips! My current obsession is double strollers - I plan to drag DH out on another test drive this weekend.
MCD - glad the appointment went well! And that is so nice of your MIL!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
09-30-2005, 07:53 AM
good morning ladies!
lost good luck on the LSAT!
phart glad you showed those comparison shots. i was getting worried that my belly isn't really a belly yet!
red how fun you're baby shopping on saturday!! i'll be at the mall on saturday so i'm hoping to pick up some new maternity pants. i've been wearing my one pair of cords most of the week...gross i know! :p
tgal how lucky you are! it's great to get some of those big ticket items!
kat you're getting some great shopping deals. where do you get your coupons for the gap?
mrs how are you recording the hb for dh? my husband has been at the last few appts., but not sure if he'll come everytime so it would be great to know how to do this. what a nice mil, my own mother doesn't dare buy me any clothes because i'm so picky.
reading about all of your nice and generous MILs makes me kind of sad. dh lost his mom in '94, and i know she'd really be enjoying this time with us. his dad's wife (he refuses to call her his step-mom) has no personality what-so-ever, so we have no relationship w/ her. i just feel for dh and how he must be feeling. he and his mom were so close. i'm lucky i got to meet her before she died, wish we had spent more time together though.
had the worst stomach ache last night. i honestly thought i was going to wake up and have "popped", but no. must have been something i ate.
hope you all have great weekends!
09-30-2005, 09:18 AM
Hi girls. Quick fly by post, without my usual long list of replies…:) I swear I am reading every post, I just don’t have the time for SO’s now since I was out yesterday.
You all came up with some great costume ideas! I love them all! You guys are all so creative.:)
As for who asked about RH-, I am also RH negative and plan to get the rhogam. Seems pretty standard and not much to worry about.
Junk – As all else have said, I am thinking positive thoughts for you. This link http://www.dynagene.com/education/patmsqs.html has some info about the quad screen. All tests are different, but this made me feel better in preparing for my tests because it talks about the likelihood of false positives. This says it all:
False-Positive Rate - refers to the percentage of women who undergo the quad screen and receive a "screen-positive" result for a pregnancy with Down syndrome, trisomy 18, and open neural tube defects that is proven false when followed up with diagnostic testing. Since the number of women with pregnancies actually affected with a certain genetic disorder is a small fraction of all women who receive a screen-positive result … the screen-positive rate is also considered the false-positive rate.
The fact that the positive rate is also considered the false rate says something!!! I hope you get some relief from worrying soon. We’re all thinking of you.
TGIF everyone!!!:) Happy Friday and weekend!:D:D

With the change in the boards I can't believe I missed the wonderful news...
CONGRATULATIONS Christy5599, red_canuck, MCD & Junk!!!!!! I'm so happy for you ladies....
Enjoy your PGs, it is so worth the weight....motherhood is the best :)

Wifeandwannabe ~ Thanks so much for your congrats!!
JennW -- that is good news. Thanks so much for sharing.
Will be back later.

UPDATED TO HERE!
09-30-2005, 10:16 AM
Another thing to add to the list of to do before arrival:
Find a Pediatrician
Happy Friday All! B-back-l8tr
09-30-2005, 10:29 AM
We'll be going in Monday late afternoon for an u/s with my friend to try to determine the sex. :D I'll be 15w1d at that time so it still may be a touch early to determine anything.
I also wanted to share this--
If you need me to email you a clearer copy, just PM me and I'd be happy to. Unfortunately it's only good at B&M locations. Expires 12/21/05
09-30-2005, 10:46 AM
I swear this is the last one for a while:) I think I'm a little fascinated by the difference this time around.
15w4d with Aiden vs 15w with this pregnancy
ped~~FWIW, we didn't have a ped before we had Aiden. We used the group suggested by our favorite nurse and we're still there nearly 2 years later.
Add getting your carseats checked by your local health department or fire station:-)
09-30-2005, 10:50 AM
Thanks Wife!!!! Couldn't be happier!
09-30-2005, 10:59 AM
Good afternoon ladies! i am in a super good mood as my thre ehour class today was cancelled, so it's a wonderful friday for me!!
a few quick SO's before I go back to the couch :D
thank you wwbm! we are so super thrilled :D
phart, those pics are so super cool! thanks for sharing :D I am fascinated by belly shots, so I am all for you posting as many as you want!! I remember following along in lurker mood during your pgncy with aiden;)
elly, OMG, you're too funny - you are so not gross! I've been wearing the same pair of jeans all week! they were worn all last week too, with a washing this weekend. It's so sad. I wore them out last night to a friends, and i think they have finally reached max. capacity! So sad. I'll be buying mat. clothes this weekend too, hehehe. I am actually SO looking forward to the wide elastic waist bands!
I rented a doppler yesterday :D Should be here early next week, i simply cannot wait!!!
Drive-by to answer ellybella's question: the one coupon I used is the same on Shannon posted above.....I think there was a link for it on babycenter.com. The other was "rewards points" for being a Banana Republic Luxe member (or maybe just for having a BR credit card). I also get some rewards points for using my Gap card, too. Thankfully, the BR points are good at Gap (babyGap, Gap Maternity, etc.), because it'll be a while before I'll be buying anything at BR for myself! (I have an overabundance of bags & shoes already).
09-30-2005, 11:17 AM
Question for whomever might know: ~ How early can a baby's sex be determined via ultrasound?
09-30-2005, 11:20 AM
junk, they say sex can be determined as early as 12-14 weeks-ish, but it's not very reliable because boys can still look girlish IYKWIM ;) By 16 weeks it should be pretty reliable, and by 18 it's pretty definate.
09-30-2005, 11:39 AM
red: so you think my u/s on Monday (15w6d) has a chance of being accurate to determine sex?
09-30-2005, 11:45 AM
Definitely a chance junk! My friend said it depends on how big the baby is measuring and how he/she is willing to participate in giving the money shot. ;)
09-30-2005, 11:47 AM
ITA with shannon, junk. Good luck!! :D
09-30-2005, 11:53 AM
i have a friend who found out at 12/13 weeks. she's in an early detection program because of chromosomal abnormalities with her first child. they got a very clear "money shot". of course the tech says it's not 100%, but they were pretty sure.
More great belly shots!
elenista - Totally forgot about that one. Dh's aunt sent us the run down of all the pedi's in our area, so I guess I need to take a look at that.
I ordered the book from the link Shannon provided. I went on Amazon to look for comments and apparently there are some other lists in the book. So, when I get the book, shame on me, I'll scan the good ones and post them if anyone is interested.
Monday is going to be a fun day hearing back from all you regarding gender! I can't wait. Which reminds me to e-mail myself the spreadsheet at home so I can post it in a more legible format.
TGIF! I hope you ladies have a wonderful weekend!

I had to end up making an unexpected visit to the doc yesterday because I thought I had a UTI and was in a lot pain. Well turns out I have that and a yeast infection (sorry if that is TMI). Double whammy  .
I am looking very forward to my u/s on Tuesday. I'm still thinking it's a girl. I even dreamed that I was looking at the u/s and somehow I could make out that it was a girl just by looking at the u/s before the doc told us for sure.
Phart- Great belly shots. You can definitely tell a big difference from the first time around. I'm thinking your belly looks more like you are carrying a girl this time :D.
JennW- It was me who asked about the RH- :). I was really worried when I first found out that I was RH- (about 10 years ago). But from what I hear it's nothing to really worry about as long as you have that shot.
Junk- My doc said she could tell around 16 weeks, but it was much better to wait until 18 to be positive. Hopefully they will be able to tell though :D.
Are there any suggestions for ways to stir the baby before you go in there, so it moves about enough to get a good view? That probably sounds mean, but I have heard that ice cold water will do the trick when it comes time for kick counts.
abj: I feel for you! I hope the meds kick in soon for you. I had to deal with the same issue twice already and I know it isn't fun.
Just want to say "knock on wood first" drink blueberry and cranberry juice daily or at least around the time you have sex! Really, I have chronic issues and I noticed the two times I got uti's recently they occurred when I ran out!
09-30-2005, 12:08 PM
Another uti tip...pee immediately after sex. It flushes the bacteria out. I haven't had a single one since I made that a rule.
09-30-2005, 12:15 PM
For those still having a hard time sleeping, Overstock has this pillow for $30 with really good reviews. Just thought I'd share.
Here's a link (http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?page=proframe&prod_id=62045#)
ajb524, sorry about the yeast infection. Those are the worst.
tgal, I've always heard to drink OJ or eat something with sugar. You'd better believe I'm going to be doing both!
09-30-2005, 12:18 PM
Crazy Dream Alert: I was hanging out with Britney Spears (she was still pregnant in my dream) and we were in her convertible, driving through Malibu. Actually I was driving her car and she was eating corn out of a cup with a plastic spoon. I kept telling her corn was known to bring on labor. I was much more pregnant looking in my dream. Can't remember what else happened but it was very realistic.
Anyone have a real registry yet? I have a real one under a fake name on Babies R Us and Babystyle -- not sure how much will change/stay the same but I'm definitely working on them.
09-30-2005, 12:46 PM
kat, do you know if BR gift certificates are good at GapMaternity? I still have some leftover from Christmas last year and, like you, won't be needing them for some time!
LOL junk! That is one crazy dream! Is that true about corn?
tgal, like Shannon mentioned, I've heard OJ will get them moving. Also M&Ms. And really, given the choice, I know which one I would choose ;)
Shannon, I'm going to check out babycenter.com for that coupon but if I can't find it, you may be getting a PM from me. Thanks!
Happy weekend everyone! I'm going to try not to let the Red Sox/Yankees series stress me out too much...
09-30-2005, 01:01 PM
tgal – I want to be included on the gender guessing, too!:) (Better late than never I suppose;))
For K’s chart: Girl
For T’s chart: Boy
Of course this is all assuming baby was actually conceived in June. We were on the cusp of last days of June, first days of July!:D
10-01-2005, 09:49 AM
junk- Sorry about the AFP results. But, as the others have stated they are notorious for false +. My sister had a + for T-21 as well. Today they have a beautiful, energetic 2 year old blue eyed blonde that is perfectly healthy and has been given the nickname "The Blonde Bomber". As I said, she is energetic! ;) I'm praying for you that you have the same experience. I also hope that DH starts to look at things as "the glass half full". As for the sex, my Dr. said 16 weeks, but that the closer to 20 weeks the more definite. My best friend had the first one done at 18 weeks and they said 75% sure it is a girl, but that the testicles and penis could drop as late as 20-22 weeks in some babies. When they went back at 22 weeks, they gave her a 100% chance of a girl. Hope that helps.
tgal- Thanks for getting the list together of the predictions. Your doing great! LOST was great, huh?
amychris- Good luck on the move. Be ready for cold winters!
20w3d with Aiden (and doing the Macarena, it seems) vs 15w with this baby
This cracked me up. You look great btw!
Losthoosier- Good luck on the LSAT today! I'm sure you are ready to just get it behind you!
Kristine- Congrats on the baby girl!!
kat- Those are great deals you have found for multiples. Glad there is stuff out there like that. It is so expensive as it is for one!
ajb524- Sorry about the yeast infection. I hope that it clears up soon.
QOTD: Movement I'm not sure. I think so, but it doesn't really feel like "fluttering" to me. Who knows!
QOTD: BBs- They have been pretty sore on the sides by my armpits. I have also noticed them being sore in bed when I roll over.
I had my first pregnancy dream last night, and it was of the big U/S. They said it was a boy, but I couldn't see the little guys goods. It could be b/c I am having the big u/s next week, and the fact that one of my friends had a baby boy yesterday. Another one is due with a little boy anyday. So, I guess I have boys on my mind! :p
I also have HUGE news for DH and I. After waiting three years and 4 months, I finally have a FT job again!!! It has been a LONG, difficult and mainly frustrating road through immigration, teacher certification boards, etc, but I now am a contract teacher! It is such a huge relief for us!
I guess that it is for me. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!
10-01-2005, 06:39 PM
Thank you all for the well wishes... Not sure how I feel now that its over... I always freak out about standardized test so we will see...... I can only say I tried my best......
I get the results in 3 weeks........ so now it just the waiting game. My DH is taking it in Dec. so if I did really bad I will be retaking it........ I am just hoping for a high enough score to get into an average school No Harvard here..... as we want to stay close to my husbands family especially if we both get in...... Hope you all have a great weekend
10-03-2005, 07:30 AM
Good morning girls!
I ordered the crib this am!!!!
I did call when I saw that Penny's shipping to home address' ($100!!!!). They do ship to their stores which was only $40 which I can suck up a lot easier than $100. The store is only a couple of miles from our house and it will be in after 4pm on Wednesday so that's good. I didn't order the mattress to go along with it, I'm thinking we'll just register for it and hopefully it will be a gift. DH will be away this weekend so we're planning on getting the nursery cleared out this week so I can chip away at a couple of things to get ready for paint in there. The closet doors have recessed panels in them that are wallpapered and there are ugly shelving units attached to the walls that all need to come down.
Anyone else stressing about daycare yet? I have a list of places to call today to find out availability and make appts with hopefully this week or next. I feel like the halfway mark of this pregnancy is fast approaching and I haven't even started looking into things yet!
Hope all is well with everyone!
10-03-2005, 07:39 AM
Christy, yes, definitely getting a little stressed out about looking into daycare. Haven't even started and don't really even know where to begin. Uhg.
Junk, I wanted to know that I'm thinking of you today!!! I also hope baby cooperates and you're able to tell the muchkin's sex!
10-03-2005, 08:08 AM
Christy-Where did you order your crib from? I really like it.
Tomorrow is my big u/s!!! I can't wait. I'm not the only one. My 11 year old sister is about to die to know as well. She's going with us tomorrow.
So far everyone is guessing a boy for me, but I'm still going with a girl :). I've had 4 girl dreams and only 1 boy dream. I guess we'll see tomorrow :D
10-03-2005, 08:12 AM
ajb524, it's from JCPenny's. It's not convertible but we're planning on putting baby number 2 in it also. We don't have huge bedrooms so there wouldn't be space for full size beds in kids rooms unless we plan on moving! I just wanted something simple and not ornate which is hard to find these days it seems! Good luck with your u/s, can't wait to hear!
Shannon, I'm with you on not knowing where to start. I'm just going to call around to a few I've heard good things about and that are close by. I suppose I'll start by asking about availability around the time I'll be heading back to work and then see if we can make an appt. I'll keep you all posted on how it goes!
10-03-2005, 09:11 AM
I went to the Land of Nod warehouse sale and had great luck! Bought a crib, a pretty white Jenny Lind crib. It was $60 off the list price and in stock, so the crib is at our house and sitting in a box! Here's the crib:
My biggest finding of the day was the crib bedding. I bought this adorable alphabet bedding I had been admiring. It would have been over $200 had I bought the pieces individually on the website, I got a quilt, crib bumber and skirt for $20!!! Why so cheap? The quilt was the floor model, so it was a little faded, but not noticeable unless you put it right next to the crib bumper. The crib bumper had one tie broken which my mom has already fixed and the crib skirt had some dirt on it which came out when I put it through the wash yesterday!!! I was so excited. Here's the bedding:
I am very excited as we are off to a good start with the nursery. We need to pick out some paint colors, my aunt is going to make some curtains and we need to pick out a rug and some accents for the room.
I bought a few more maternity clothes yesterday. I've broken down and started wearing maternity pants now, they still are pretty big though, so I am hiking up my pants multiple times a day. Oh well, it is worth the comfort.
Hope all the other March mommies are doing well. I'll be back to do SO's in a little bit.
10-03-2005, 09:17 AM
Love the goodies you got Heidi! What a steal!
10-03-2005, 09:28 AM
Thanks Shannon! I'll be going at 1pm PST so I'll post asap.
Let me know how your U/S goes as well!! :)
Very jealous of the Chicago girls and the Land of Nod sale -- I wanted that crib!! Great great great price on the bedding, Heidi!. We never have warehouse sales in Los Angeles (at least not on stuff like baby furniture!)
10-03-2005, 09:52 AM
Back from Israel and finally showing a little! YAY!
Sad to hear that I missed the Land of Nod sale while I was gone, but oh well.
junk~ Hope the amnio goes well today and I join the ranks in saying that it's probably a false positive. I am keeping all my parts crossed.
to everyone who has found already~ congrats on the girls and boys we have already! So jealous, I can't wait until the 24th to see my little one.
QOTD re: testing~ We declined the AFP/ Quad Screen. The false positive rates were too high for me and I am SUCH a worrier.
In Israel they do so much more testing! I have 2 preggo cousins and learned that pretty much every preggo has a nuchal, AFP/Quad Screen, and an amnio. And very little is covered by insurance. But then my 2 cousins were SMOKING at the wedding we went to (they say it's only one every once in a while, but I was nauseated!), so I say I'd much rather just TAKE CARE of my baby than be tested all the time and then smoke!!! Sorry to vent, it just drove me nuts.
Wills and insurance talk makes me stressed. I don't even know where to start!
10-03-2005, 11:06 AM
Just got off the phone with several day care places, the majority of them said I was calling early so that made me feel good! (I was feeling very behind.) They all kind of took the lead when I called, asking how old the baby was (ummm, gestational or LMP? ) and then they gave me some general info. We have two appts set up for this week and a third that is just an 'open door policy' which we'll try to hit this week or early next.
Hopefully the process will continue to be as easy and we can nail one down!
Fantastic cribs ladies! My mom wasn't able to make it to the Land of Nod Sale. If you hear of another, please post because I would love to fly home for the event!
Where are all our ladies with u/s's today???? I am on pins and needles here!
I went to a Motherhood Maturnity outlet store and scored on a couple of outfits. Not quite drop dead sale prices, but I really liked what they had in stock this time! I got a little chuckle out of the fake tummies they have in the fitting room too.
I received the first time mom book and for anyone that feels the need to get organized, this is really a good book. There are additional lists other than what was on the website. www.firsttimemomonline.com
For those of you thinking about daycare, here is some info from the book. Not looking for DC myself, so sorry if these are a bit elementary compared to others on the internet.
Well, those didn't turn out so well. If you want to PM me I can email you the digital images, they turned out much better than this post.
Chart! I apologize if I overlooked anyone. Please post again if I did!
10-03-2005, 02:36 PM
Just wanted to stop by really fast and send some good vibes to Lisa!
Im sure all will go well and hopefully you will get a gender shot in there!
Also, good luck with your ultrasound today Shannon. Im off to
register.... Evidently my work is throwing me an impromptu shower before
I leave and they demand that I register at once! Fun yes, but I still feel
clueless about what I need! I guess I can just put the basics on there
10-03-2005, 04:59 PM
Had my prenatal appointment today! Everything's going well! Only a week and two days until my ultrasound - I can't wait!
Day Care - I was hoping to get started soon, but my MIL might be able to watch the baby part of the week. Problem is DH hasn't gotten around to asking her yet. I need to know if she's going to and how much before I start looking at places. But yes, I am stressed about it.
10-03-2005, 05:14 PM
We are 85% sure we're having a GIRL!!! I'm so freaking excited!!! My friend (u/s tech) said she's 85% sure but wants me back in another week or so to verify. My Dh was of course happy but he said he felt out-numbered with all of the girly squealing going on between my friend and I. ;)
I'll scan the u/s pic tomorrow at work and post it.
Thank you tgal for scanning those charts and questionaire. I'll PM you for a clearer copy.
amychris03, how fun that work wants to throw you a party before you leave!
Tracie[/B, yay for a great appt!
10-03-2005, 05:37 PM
Wow...how many girls does that make so far??
10-03-2005, 06:35 PM
10-03-2005, 06:48 PM
Congratulations Shannon on your baby GIRL!!!
10-03-2005, 07:25 PM
Congrats Shannon! I can't wait for the other mommies to find out what they are having! Because so far...this looks like a very girlie board to me!
Congrats Shannon! :D 6 Girls 1 Boy
I thought there was another u/s yesterday! Anyone else find out, still sitting on pins and needles!
amychris - Not sure if you bought baby bargains, but it is a huge help with registry stuff, not just big items, but I think there is a page or two that suggest how much of the small items will be good to start off with. Also, I don't have the first time mom book here with me, but there is also a list in there. I was planning to scan more based on the topics brought up here, so I will try to do that tonight and post. Those that want better copies can PM me again.
Random thoughts! I am really not thinking straight anymore.
Not much going on here! I had a little m/s again yesterday, not sure what was up with that. Kinda felt crappy, but made it through the day with plenty of energy. Hearing everyone talk about their u/s is getting me so excited for Friday. My dad called yesterday to tell me he thinks it is a boy. I went to dh's cousin's JV football game last night and wore a maturnity top for the first time, I swear everyone in the family came up and touched my tummy. I don't think I have grown that much in a week, but apparently the top made it look like I did.
10-04-2005, 07:46 AM
Congrats, Shannon, on your little GIRL!!!!! So excited for you, let the shopping begin!
10-04-2005, 08:09 AM
Where, oh where, is Junk? Am waiting not so patiently for an update on yesterday's amnio...
10-04-2005, 08:12 AM
Thanks for the congrats ladies! :D
Here are pictures of our probable little girl!
On the last one my friend said what they are looking for on a girl is the "hotdog in a bun" (ie. 3 little white lines).
Good luck at your BIG u/s's today Bernie and ajb524 !!!
Thanks for updating the chart tgal. It's really fun to look at as you start filling in the blank lines! Sorry you felt crappy yesterday.:(
10-04-2005, 08:18 AM
Hiya Girls!! I think someone asked how I was recording the heartbeat that I had heard at the doctor's office (I think it was here, sorry if it's not!). I just use one of those voice recorders that you can get at like Office Max or someplace like that. Nothing special, it's just a voice recorder. :)
Like tgal, I went Maternity clothes shopping this weekend too and was absolutely DYING at the fake belly. All the ladies in the store asked if I was the one laughing because I tried it on, and I kept telling my little sister that I had a lumpy baby! It was way too funny! Apparently not too many people laugh at the belly though, so the ladies working there said it was a welcome change. :D I did still feel like an imposter though, but I guess they are used to seeing people that don't look very pg come in. ;)
I think I popped Sunday night, because all of the sudden, I can't cover up the belly very well! People are definitely noticing now. My husband told me yesterday that my belly was getting huge  Uh thanks hun... I think I have a few more weeks to go! hee hee.
Congrats to all of the girls finding out the sexes of their babies!
I had a lumpy baby
MCD - Oh my gosh, a friend was with me who wasn't preggo and she tried it on saying the exact same thing. We were like two teenagers with that belly thing laughing our bums off!
10-04-2005, 08:45 AM
Wow so many GIRLS in this thread!!! Congrats Shannon!
Not too much going on here, I am seeing my OB this week but it shouldn't be a big deal except I am hoping to schedule my u/s!
QOTD: are you girls getting flu shots? I called my OB about it and they recommend that I get one but my OB doesn't give them out. So I called my regular DR and they just ordered them and don't know when/if they will come in! I am really upset about this and don't know what to do.
10-04-2005, 08:47 AM
QOTD-yes I will. I work in an elementary school so I think it would be wise for me to do so. Our health insurance company sends a nurse around to all of the schools in our district to give them out for $15.
10-04-2005, 09:16 AM
The baby wouldn't cooperate this morning so I didn't get to find out :(
10-04-2005, 09:26 AM
Awwww! Do you get another try AJB? Or do you just have to wait it out?
Just out of curiousity, was the baby not moving or moving too much?
10-04-2005, 09:28 AM
ajb524, oh I am so bummed for you.:( Do you get another chance? I sure hope so!
10-04-2005, 09:35 AM
QOTD: (Flu Shots) My job is offering them for free (YAY!) so I'll be getting one. Called the doctor yesterday who DEFINITELY recommended it.
tgal- thanks for the website. I think I need all the help I can get!!
Shannon- congrats on your little GIRL! Great pics!!!
ajb- Sorry the bebe wasn't cooperating... it must be fate.
Not much new here. In and out between services... Happy Rosh Hashana to all the Jewish ladies...
