Ok- so this is something I should know how to do, but I can't seem to figure it out.
I have a ton of pics on my computer in the "My Pictures" area. I want to save them to a disc for a backup and also to free up space on my computer. How on earth is this done? I can't find it. I know its there, but I can't find it.
I have a Hewlett Packard if that helps.
Thanks so much ladies! :D

So you simply want to save your pictures on to a floppy disk or cd?

Do you have a burning program like Nero or Roxio? You just have to compile a data CD-R thru Nero (or whatever) and burn it to CD. You can even continue to add more pics later, even on a CD-R, to the same CD.

Hmm..
I *believe* if you right click on the picture OR folder it will give you the option or where to save. A drive, E drive.
Choose the CD drive..I think its D?
If this isn't right...please post what kinda windows you are running, XP? 2000?

My burning drive was D, I think...or F... Usually it's D or E.
It's important to know that you can't just save onto a CD, it has to be burned. I made that mistake once, and at a horrible time! I thought I backed up all my important info, had someone clean up my memory, then when I tried to reinstall my info, it wasn't there!

My drive is E, but I figured something out and it worked.
I highlighted the folders I wanted to copy to the CD. Then I chose to copy the folders to another place that I choose. I picked the E drive, but the whole time I was doing that it said that it couldn't work, couldn't find the device or something or another. Then I found where I can format the CD. I did that and the folders were copied onto the CD. I have checked the CD a few times and all the pics are there, so I guess I did something right.
If anyone thinks this may be a problem, please let me know. Otherwise thanks for all your help ladies!
I'm going to look into Nero and Roxio though to see what they are. Thanks, jnettie

In order to burn a cd you can not just copy and past items into another folder. Formating a cd is not the same as burning a cd. IF you have a cd burner, you have a program installed on your computer that will allow you to burn/create a cd with all of your pictures on it. What you have done so far doesn't sound like you have saved them.
Go to Start Programs and look for your CD creating program, it may be Roxio Easy CD creator. You are wanting to make a data cd and then you can point to the folder you want to save and "record" or burn the cd.

Oh I think I am getting it now. Thanks txssenorita. I will look into that later. I am so lost when it comes to all of this. But I will look and see what I can find. I must have a program for burning since I have a CD burner.
Thanks again!
Karen
Oh wait- I just looked on my CD compartment and it says CD writer- is that the same as a CD burner? What a dork I am! LOL

he he he he! Yeah, same thing!
I did the same thing as you the first time, copy, paste, and see it there. But as soon as you take out the CD and put it back, suddenly they are all gone! You do have to burn or write the CD!
