I think I missed something. What did Derek say to Addison at the bar?

12-11-2005, 09:48 PM
Hi!

He said that Christmas makes you want to be with the ones you love. Then he said he wasn't saying this to hurt her, but that Meredith wasn't a fling or a rebound. That he fell in love with her and that that wasn't going to go away because he came back to her (Addison). Make sense?

I don't know what he meant by it, I really thought after he said that he fell in love with Meredith that he was going to get up and leave Addison at the bar, but he stayed. Kind of weird. I don't know, maybe Addison will decide she doesn't want to be with him knowing that he's still in love with Meredith?

Hmm...does anyone know if we're in reruns now and for how long?

That's what I thought, but I was confused by the fact that they were still sitting there. Thanks!

Loved the episode! I took Derek's statement to Addison as a recognition of something that he had to get over and she had to deal with. So poignant!

Yeah. Basically, he was saying that he loves Meredith, but he'll stay with Addison out of a sense of committment to the marriage. I think Addison will leave him.

Burke and Christina - he should dump her. He gives and gives and she only takes!

George - love the way he's finally standing up for himself!

I loved Izzy last night! I was LMAO when she told Alex she would help him because Jesus would want or to or something like that. I felt so sad when she started crying. I was hoping Alx would break down and tell her he really cared for her so much and thta's why he was freaked out. Oh well at least he said something.

See, I like the portrayal of Burke and Cristina's (sp?) relationship. Yes, I know it is unbalanced, but you know what? So many relationships are. And I like that this show is not just giving us all the flowers and candy of perfect relationships. Sure, it should be a two way street, but to me, it does not have to be a two way street all the time. Sometimes one person gives more and sometimes it switches. I think we saw some definite vulnerability from Cristina last night when she was talking the to little fella with the new heart. I think we got to see her grow a bit, as a person and in the relationship with Burke.

I'm going to say it before the other person who says it every time. I love George. ;) (Sorry I cant remember who it was, and dont have time to look back)

He was great putting that family in its place, and I found it very funny when he told Alex he wouldn't 'cough'.

Also, I had to rewind 3 times to get what McDreamy said about 'leaving' Addison... he said he wasn't going to get up from the table and leave.

Man that guy has the puppy dog look down pat!! *swoon*

Yeah, I agree. I think she's making some strides. I also think that Christina's view of medicine as religion is pretty accurate for many doctors/surgeons. I think it's interesting to see Burke's spirituality as a doctor.

I also LOVED Izzy's "B/c that's what Jesus would FREAKING do." Too funny.

All I can add is, from a 24 wk-er's point of view, I was thrilled to see them have Bailey feel/act pregnant finally!! I've been watching, saying to myself, how the hell would I do SURGERY right now? *Loved* seeing her tell that kiddo off while he kicks her during surgery, and chug a milkshake and fall asleep LOL Now *that's* reality!

I was getting annoyed, and couldn't believe George or someone didn't go in there and kick that family out much, much sooner.

Izzy crying while she helps Alex study was so touching... really well done.

And I thought Cristina's reaction to Burke putting up a menorah was terrific -- like, ok I get it, I'll try too. So cute how she snuggled into bed :) I love them together.

I watched last night but I didnt hear him say he wasnt leaving the table???

Is that what he said?

I heard him say that" The holiday's make you want to be with the ones you love" then he said" I dont want to hurt you but Meredith wasnt a fling nor was it just for revenge", that in fact he had falling in love with her and that wasnt going to change just because he had decided to stay with Addisson and then he turned and sat down next to her and that was it.

I didnt hear him say anythign else and I took him sitting down next to her as saying "we have a problem that we have to deal with, he either forgets about Meredith once and for all and stays with Addisson or he leaves or she leaves"
I guess thats something that will have to be decided next season.

The truth is he has tried to do the right thing but he is inlove with Meredith and he cant get over her and its just doesnt make sense for him to keep on trying with Addisson HE looks miserable all the time! its like heartbreaking to see him struggle in trying to make it work when the truth is its over the moment he walked in on Addison and his best friend doing it in his bed in his house that was it man!!!

I didnt put it in quotes because I dont know the exact wording, and I'll check what he said again when i get home, but it was very low and hard to hear but he said something about it not meaning that he was going to leave (as in leave her, not necessarily the bar)

I thought last night's episode was fun. I love them when they're funny and a good mixture of light hearted, yet still manage to make you cry. I liked Izzy's "because that's what freakin' Jesus would do" almost as much as I liked George's "I can't hear you while he has his hands on your boobs."

One thing I really like is how well Meredith, Izzy and George seem to get along at the house. I like how they all hang out in the bathroom (okay, George doesn't seem to like that part), or how they get into bed together, or like last night, all hang out under the tree. It's nice to see.

I totally agree with that! I felt like he was cheating on me...so sad that I can actually get into the emotions of the characters...I watch way too much TV.

Ooooh...just thought of something! Wouldn't it be something if Addison and Derek decide to divorce but then she ends up pregnant with his child? Okay...maybe not! I would not like that to happen as they should not be together and this would further his "desire" to try and make things work with Addison.

On the Punk'd episode, she was saying really obnoxious, cruel things about the waitress who was flirting with her boyfriend. I too would be pissed if I were Punk'd; but I guess what she was saying was particularly cruel (she wasn't just mad that she was the victim of a practical joke).

I'd be nice about it, though I'd consider her behavior to be very inappropriate. It doesn't bother me if women flirt with DH, but it is very unprofessional. I'm definitely not the I'll-kick-your-ass-if-you-talk-to-my-man types.

Thank you for calling me the queen of nice. :) You made my day!

Wait, I think I just figured out what you're saying. You think that I'd joke with DH because I got the waitress in trouble? That's not what I meant. I meant that we'd eat our meal as normal. Not leave a tip, then speak to the manager on the way out about her unprofessional behavior. Then, on the way home, I'd joke with DH about how hot he is, how he's a stud, etc.

I saw the Punk'd episode the other night and I really didn't think that the waitress was flirting with her boyfriend. I thought she was just trying to be friendly with him since Ellen from the beginning was kind of rude to her. I think she made a comment that she liked his hat and asked if they'd be sharing the meal when Ellen ordered. I didn't see any hardcore flirting.

The actual joke was that when the boyfriend left her a $20 tip, he accidentally put $200 and Ellen was insisting they change it back. She really came across as a bitch the whole time, making comments about the waitress's make-up and stabbing her with a fork.

Honestly, I think I'm one of the few who don't like Meredith's character on GA. After watching Ellen on Punk'd, I'm definitely not a fan of the actress. She was mean and rude, even before the actual joke happened.

She really came across as cold, and snotty and cheap to boot. She is *nothing* like her character IRL, or at least not on that day. She was pissed that he accidently gave the waitress $200. instead of $20. and insisted that it be corrected even after the waitress thanked them profusely for giving such a generous tip, and that she was going to be able to visit her sister back home in Vegas/Florida:confused: because of the hefty tip. Anyway, she came off very poorly, and she looked awful too. I was actually cringing watching it.

I assume anyone who actually is Punk'd on TV must sign a release. Either she is a bitch & wants us all to know it or it made for good TV.

I saw it this weekend and thought she came across as a total b!tch. I thought about the fact that she most likely had to sign a release and maybe she is such a huge b!tch that she didn't notice bad she came across.

She completely overreacted to the supposed flirting. From what I saw it harmless small talk and flattery. I didn't see it as overtly flirting. If it was DH and I would be having a fight everytime we went out of the house.

GREY'S ANATOMY
Why do we love the season's hottest new show? Let's look at how each character operates: Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey, far right) has his hair; Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo, to his left), her heart; Dr. Christina Yang (Sandra Oh), her mouth; Dr. Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), testosterone; Dr. Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl), estrogen; and finally, Dr. George O'Mally (T.R. Knight) – the eyes.

This is correct. Sunday's episode will be "new" although it is just a recap of the seson so far

Oh, crud. I really didn't care for the DH "recap" and now we'll have to wait another week for a new GA. *sigh*

GA is just a recap this coming Sunday? How disappointing! I saw the Desperate HW recap (I had incorrectly thought it would be a "real" new episode) and I thought it was a complete waste of time.

The GA re-cap was better because it was a re-cap of the whole show so far, not just this season, and a lot of people didn't start watching it early on. It was great to see a lot of the earlier stuff. Now I really can't wait until next week for a real new episode.

I am really glad they recapped, and I like the way it was done - from the bartenders point of view. I like that it wasn't in order of events. I'm not sure who's into this show more, me or DH

I'm so glad they did the recap. I 'forced' Dh to watch the first ten minutes with me and he was hooked - so now he'll be watching it with me on Sundays, woohoo. I had also missed some early episodes so I saw some things I missed.

There was an article in our paper this weekend about what a big hit this show has become for ABC - they have it scheduled to follow the Super Bowl! - and how Patrick Dempsey was not first choice for Derek Shepperd (Rob Lowe was) - I can't imagine anyone but Patrick Dempsey! There was a big picture of him included with the article in the paper - I was tempted to cut it out, *lol*

Loved the recap-my best friend and I thought it was one of the best recaps we have ever seen for a show.

I just started watching it so it helped me a lot. And I was especially glad to get a chance to witness the scene all my friends have been talking about:

when Meredith says-"Pick me, Choose me, Love me!"

I'm hooked on this show.

Also, anxiously awaiting the release of the first season on DVD-I have it pre-ordered from www.overstock.com

when Meredith says-"Pick me, Choose me, Love me!"

I had missed that one too so I loved seeing it in the recap. And I totally cracked up when she's talking to the bartender later at the bar and is like "I can't BELIEVE I actually said pick me". HA!

So what did others think of last nights episode.

I am a little frustrated with Derrick right now he is trying to have it all and is not willing to compromise at all with his wife. I understand that she cheated on him before but she did move across the country. He wants his trailer and for her to just deal with the fact that he is still in love with a coworker and is making no real attempt to reconcile his marriage besides "I cooked the fish outside today." and then when she is moody he gets all on her case! Then he totally goes off and starts flirting with Meredith in the elevator!! Ugh-Men! He is just reminding me too much of one of my sleezy guy friends.

ITA! Why even give it a go if you're not going to try. It seems like he feels because he stayed with her, that's all he needs to do. I'm starting not to like him. I felt all warm and fuzzy about him at first, but now, it's sad the way he treats his wife. Loved the eye roll after she left the elevator.

I don't think he's trying to have it all. He only stayed with his wife out of a sense of duty and he made that very clear to her. He also made it clear that he loves Meredith. Derrick is being 100% true to what he's told Addison since she came back. So, why is Addison is sticking around hoping to change things?

Honestly, Im glad he is making her suffer. I mean she slept with his best friend for goodness sakes and he found them in their bed. Put yourself in those shoes he cant just forgive her and go on like nothing happened! She's got to wait it out and let him deal with it and come to terms with it. In the meantime he is with her.

I think he had the best of intentions with his wife to try and see if they could work it out but its just not happening. Its going to take a while for him to fully realize it and then take the first steps in totally ending it with her. Again its not that easy. It is 11 years after all. But that will all depend on the writers and where they want to go with the show.

In the meantime I love the tension between him and Meredith.

PS their marriage reminds me of that movie with Winona Ryder The age of innocence? remmember he falls in love with Michele Pheiffer but stays with Winona(his wife) out of duty to her and Winona knows it and accepts it.

Thats whats happening here with the only difference that divorce is much more accepted now.

TOTALLY agree. Just like Merideth herself said, he wouldn't be himself if he didn't at least try. It sucks for all 3 of them, but I do like that he's trying. I'll like it THAT much more when he and Merideth *do* finally go at it in the elevator! :D

I think that last night was the best episode of the season. I loved the "lies" theme. They did a good job of carrying the theme through the whole show.

How cute is George? I loved his speech to Merideth!

You don't get to choose......I know you have been going through a bad time...I know you miss Shepard....and I know your life has been admititally pretty unpleasant these days....you get points...for breathing in and out...you get to be a little selfish....but you don't get to choose a dog over me..I'm George ..I sleep down the hall from you..I buy your tampons ...I have held your hand every time you have asked........I have earned the right to be seen...to be respected...to not have you think less of me than a dog you got at the pound.....so I am not moving out...whether you like it or not I am staying

Islandbride1025

I didn't start to cry until Meredith had to give the dog to McDreamy. Just the fact that he would take her dog for her, knowing how much she loves the dog, was just so heart wrenching! Such a sweet moment when they were standing there outside his trailer. sigh...

PS: If I were Addison, I would NEVER have let them be alone together. I would have taken the dog's leash and stood there until she left. She has to feel the energy that is still between Derek and Meredith!

Recaps
"Tell Me Sweet Little Lies" (Jan 22)

Derek gives Meredith a blood test so they can get her mother into the clinical trials. They have to check family history first.

Meredith & Cristina both lie about their relationships but later Meredith admits to Cristina that her and Derek are not just friends. She said that he is still "McDreamy". Cristina tells Meredith that Burke thinks she moved in with him but she is keeping her old apartment.

Burke asked Meredith over for Dinner with him & Cristina. He wanted to make Cristina feel comfortable & know that all their friends are welcome in their home. Meredith later tells Cristian she needs to tell Burke the truth but then tells her not to... that it can wait.

Cristina sets Derek straight & tells him that he is messing with Meredith's emotions.

Meredith forges Burke's signature to authorize some test on a patient that she thinks is on drugs. Turns out the patient wasn't but Burke doesn't get mad at Meredith.

George threatens to move out if Meredith doesn't get rid of the dog. He gives her a chose, him or the dog.Later he tells her that weather or not she likes it that she doesn't get to choose & that he is staying. They end up giving the dog to Derek & Addison.

Alex gets his test results in but has Izzie open them for him. He passed.

Bailey is in preterm labor & Addison tells her she needs to go home and get some bed rest.

Some of the nurses at the hospital threaten to go on strike if they don't get more nurses to work.

Quotes:

As doctors we're trained to be skeptical because our patients lie to us all the time. The rule is every patient is a liar until proven honest. Lying is bad or so we're told . Constantly from birth, honesty is the best policy. The truth shall set you free. I dropped out of a cherry tree... what ever. The fact is lying is an accessory. We lie to ourselves because the truth, the truth freaking hurts...

No matter how hard we try to ignore it, or deny it, eventually, the lies fall away weather we like it or not. but here's the truth about the truth ,it hurts so we lie".

A precious Mer&Der moment The expressions between them here was just to adorable! It was the best.

Derek siting on the a chair taking blood from Meredith
.
M~Thank you so much for doing this. with all the needles and the blood. They won't except her without a family history
D~ I' am happy to get your mom in the clinical trials, even with all the needles and the blood..
D~ (Stands up close to Meredith) All done. How does that feel. ( with this so adorable look & smile on his face)
M~ ( Starring into his eyes with this " I want you" look on her face... Feels good. OMG just so *melting* how she looked at him. They were just so starry eyed over each other .

*Another M&D Precious moment* The looks between them here just show you how much they miss & need each other.

Meredith & Derek standing there talking about the dog that she gave him..

M~ So.. he chews everything, so don't leave anything out. He hates cats and small little yappy dogs. Oh ,not house broken probably should have told you that.
D~ Yeah
M~ staring at Derek (with this "I miss you look")
D~ staring at Meredith (with this "I am so lost without you look")
M~ You don't have to do this you know
D~ What..I've got all this land just don't want to waste it.
M~ Derek ( in this cute tone & little grin)
D~ It's just a dog doesn't mean anything. He'll be fine.
M~ (Smiling big) Yeah..
( both are smiling at each other with "that look"
M~ Ok..goodnight
D~ Goodnight
M~ Walking away from Derek..
D~ ( just standing there giving this sad and miserable look as he watches Meredith leave)

Meredith finally admits that she isn't over Derek! (Which we all knew that already lol.

Meredith talking to Cristian.
"I lied about Derek. We're not just friends . I mean, I am not He is still Mcdreamy.

*Funniest scene *

Bailey getting into the elevator to go home as they all watch. The elevator is closing & Bailey shoves her foot between the doors

B~ I may be 47 months pregnant. I may be on bed rest. I may not be able to see my own feet but I am still Dr. Bailey. I hear everything, I know everything. I am watching each and one of you & I will return. The way they looked after she said that was hilarious.

[outside the patient's room after Cristina confronted the patient about lying when he said he didn't smoke]:

Derek: "Yang, you were harsh in there.

Cristina: He was lying. Besides, your harsh is another man's refreshing.

D: Well, he's in shock. He lost his fingers and his only remaining habit all in one day. We need to be compassionate here.

C: Compassionate?

D: It's an emotion. Have you ever heard of it?

C: Have you? She's barely back on her feet and you've got her calling you McDreamy again. You know, I was just telling the patient the truth. You might want to try it sometime."

[Elevator Scene}:

Derek: "I just came from Mr. Frido's [spelling?] room. He's convinced he won't be able to quit smoking. Says you agree.

Cristina: Well, he asked my opinion. Want me to apologize?

D: No, I want you to go in there and tell him that you're wrong, that you're having a bad day, your favorite uncle died of lung cancer, everytime you see a cigarette, you freak out. Say whatever you need to say but get him to believe that this is about you, not him. Because if he thinks he won't be able to quit, he won't and maybe he shouldn't even do the surgery.

C: Fine.

D: What is your problem? I'm your boss.

C: You're not my boss right now. We're in an elevator
-- that's your specialty, right? McDreamy moments in elevators?

D: Dr. Yang --

C: You know what, just for a moment, I'm not Dr. Yang and you're not Dr. Shepherd. You're the guy who screwed up my friend. The guy who drove her to get a dog she can't keep, a dog she only got because her boyfriend lied to her about his wife.

D: I never lied to her.

C: Uh-huh, I know a liar when I see one 'cause I'm a liar. Fine, you want me to lie to the patient? Fine, I'll lie."

[That was an awesome scene. No wonder Cristina and Patrick are the ones that keep getting nominated for all those awards!]

[The scene where Cristina is coming out of the patient's room after examining his reattached fingers]:

Derek: "How's he doing?

Cristina: Jonesing for a cigarette but I think he'll make it through another day.

D: Good. (pauses) I was being nice to her.

C: Okay.

D: I can be nice without being --

C: McDreamy, I know.

D: I really can.

C: Okay.

D: Okay, then."

Really great episode. I LOVE Dr. Bailey and Cristina was great last night. The hot dog eating contest (done because a patient was a professional eater) was one of the funniest scenes all year.

Meredith - My take on the George speech reaction. It's pretty difficult to say anything when you've been put in your place the way she was. I don't blame her for not saying anything to him. When you are wrong you are wrong and everyone knew it - even Izzie.

I get the nomination for Cristina, but Dr. Bailey is just as good. I hope to god this does not mean she won't be in some upcoming episodes because I'll miss her (but she already had the baby in real life, right? So I guess she deserves some maternity leave!!)

ugh, seriously!! It's bad enough we have to sit there and watch the tension between him and Meredith and have it not end with a kiss and then have it pushed just a little further by having him in bed with Addison. Puke. I don't think I was ever really in the "I'm glad he's trying to work it out" camp, but now it just seems ridiculous. It's obvious he's not happy, and I think Addison should respect that (after all she's what drove him away initially) and just let him go. I like her character as a doctor, and would like her MUCH more as Ex-Mrs. McDreamy. :D

I was not surprised about Izzy having a daughter, but I think it was played out so well. I love that she didn't tell the other interns.

Sort of kind of spoiler for next week's:

Code Black is a bomb threat! We looked it up. I just put it as a spoiler for people who don't like to know anything about the upcoming episode.

According to some research DH did, a code black is a bomb, so I don't think it has anything to do with the leg.

I cried too when the woman died, though I hope DH didn't see me.

Anyone else totally hate Little Miss Doe Eyes? OMG, I just realized where I've seen her from! She was the lady at the skycap in "Meet the Parents" that wouldn't let Ben Stiller's character get on the plane because she hadn't called his row yet!

Anyway, I can't stand her. Yes, she was right in saving that woman's leg, and yes, Cristina owed her an apology, but I thought she was a total bitch. She could've been more professional, instead of saying "wanna give me that apology now?"

I loved last night's episode! My DH never watches with me, but usually comes to bed in the last 10 minutes or so and I have to keep shhhhing him until the show ends. During the closet scene with McDreamy and Meredith, I am totally crying and at the end of it, I blurt out, "Leave your wife already!" I can't tell you the look DH gave me. I had to explain the whole series and let him know that this was the only exception to the rule. The whole thing was quite funny.

I didn't think Christina was wrong, until her boyfriend entered the surgery to find out what was going on I never heard from Ms. Cheerleader that she would amputate the leg if she could not get all the infection out. All I heard her saying was that she was young and she should be able to keep her leg.

I don't think christina was wrong either - Burke was wrong & Miss peppy was too by calling down christina infront of patients, saying she was only a student & Miss peppy was the teacher. I hate when they show McDreamy and addison together like that, but I think it was to go with the 'crossing the line & going back' theme. He crossed it, and getting back on the otherside is quite hard for him.
I also cried my eyes out at the end, but I'm glad they ended on a funny note - I love George. DH said the same thing about the same time he said it.

CarlaB, same thing with us. I got mad last night and asked DH "why in the last 10 minutes do you have to know what's going on? You didn't watch the rest of it, why do you care?" Arrrghh!

Loved the show, and yes, M crying was very comical, but I did cry when she said she didn't want her Mother to die alone.

in regards to the spoiler comments about the code black see below...

i still think that could be due to the leg bc she might have some sort of infection that is a result of chemical or biological warfare. could code black have to do with something like that? rather than it literally being a bomb it could be some other more invisible threat to the contry?

ITA. I like them separately, but I am over them together----at least at the moment.

I was so moved by the Chief giving Meredith's mother hope. I adored Izzy reaching out to her patient in such a real manner. I was stunned by her revelation. I cried like a baby when Meredith had to let her patient go.
Burke was dead-on when he stated he didn't understand the issue with an intern dating an attendant until that moment....my heart broke for him. I understood Christina's reservations, since that lady was way too perky/positive for my nature. Great epsiode overall. So excited for next week....spoiler free.;)

Oh, see I didn't think the crying was comical at all -- that scene was the best & totally well done, until the awkward love eyes McDreamy started shooting at her. Grr. I was all ready for that to be the first time he was actually there for her without putting his own emotions into it -- he got *this* close and then farted it up.

2nd best moments: Izzy telling the girl's mom "If you can get past me being superior and telling you what's right for your family, can you also see that I might be right" (how you could get through that speech without losing it, I don't know) and Izzy telling the girl that "after a 12 hour shift at the diner like our moms, you won't be reading her Shakespeare." That line really nailed me.

And of course George being the sneaky picketer and going in with his nurses' list LOL He's just hysterical, and I'm always glad when they give him a real boy's line to drag him back from being TOO sensitive!

Last night was OK for me. As usual the episode had its great moments (I liked the closet scene and thought Meredith's sobbing was actually pretty real - I ain't cute when I cry either...) I just really miss the Nazi. I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her character. I thought the preppy doctor was fine - and actually dealt with Cristina the way she should have dealt with her - she's her boss and you can't run to an attending and rat her out unless she was really doing something wrong - not just something Cristina disagreed with.

Anyway...I hope they don't try to ER this next episode to get new viewers after the Super Bowl. I just don't want this to turn into some dramatic TV show not about relationships. I'm so scared to see if I'll like it next week.

I loved this past episode. I loved the whole closet scene, although I was hoping that Meredith and McDreamy would share a kiss...and then to see him in bed with Addison in the end, grrr.

George is the BEST! "No offense", hee! He's just the cutest. :D

We just watched the episode yesterday. Y'all, I wept. Not cried. Wept. Big fat sobs. My husband thought I had lost my mind.

I loooove perky resident. She is really the anti-Christina which is fun to see. And I loved Alex kissing ass. He was hysterical. My favorite line of his ever was "Fine, she's Satan's whore" in regards to Addison. It is my new favorite insult.

To whoever (whomever?) asked whether it is likely they got a resident they had never had contact with-I would say yes. Those little groups are very tight and there isn't always contact with other residents. There are fewer attendings, so they are better known. And I would think in a hospital as large as this it would be even more plausible.

I was so happy Meredith walked out of the closet when McDreamy was making kissy eyes at her! Way to be! He really is trying to have his cake and eat it too. I know we are supposed to believe he is torn b/t his duty to his wife and his love for Meredith, but to me it just looks like he is trying to play both women. Not that I don't think he is still dreamy!

The best part was George asking if anyone wanted to have sex! Hilarious. George deserves some love :)

They mentioned her being the "new" resident. I mean, she hadn't even met Burke before. It seems like she was brought in to take over Bailey's spot, not instead of it being filled by someone within the hospital. That's just what I got from it, though.

I am so glad Sandra Oh won a SAG award! She is so good on the show! Even though the show is "about" Meredith, I like the other characters, Christina and George especially, way better.

OMG, if I could have crawled through the tv screen to have him look at me the way he was looking at her in the closet, I would have in a heartbeat!! I wanted them to kiss soooo bad, but even I told DH that he shouldn't be looking at her that way. LOL!

I was shocked that Izzie had a baby! Completely unexpected.

this is the lyrics of the chorus for the song played during the closet scene...

I just found this while looking up "code black"
When the emergency room is full the ER goes into what they call code black, meaning that they will only take trauma patients. Patients needing neurosurgery, cardiac care and children are the only ones admitted.

I also see bomb threat and severe weather and violence.

I just saw another commercial for next week and i'm really excited to see it

Uh huh! Maybe this will be what brings them back together, because we all KNOW that they WILL be back togehter. :) I loved the part where he tells Mer that the feeling will pass, and then Addison comes up and asks what he's doing and he says, "waiting for it to pass."

*sigh* I just love McDreamy.

I think I will honestly bawl is Baily's DH dies. I mean, i will not recover from that...lol. It seems like i've become attached to these characters.

On a side note...I am sick of McDreamy. I'm starting to think he is a slimeball. If he leaves addison for merideth, that would be totally fine with me...but he just needs to make a decision already. I can't stand watching him lead Merideth on every week.

Interesting comeback for Christina Ricci. I mean, we'll never see her again, I'm sure. She has been off the screen for a while, it's interesting that she will be so easily forgotten.

Ok, I'm not sure what happened, but I think our station cut off the last little bit. The last thing I saw was Meredith putting her hand in there and saying, What did I do? OK, that was from the preview. Merideth is holding the bomb and she is freaking out to Christina, Everyone is discussing what they are going to do, The boss guy (I always forget his name) has a heart attack (or that is what they elude to), McDreamy asks Christina how "the girl with the bomb" is and she says "it's merideth" and he gets all...well...dreamy. Addison is crying, Baily is crying....everyone is freaked out. Pretty much just part of the cliffhanger. we'll all be guessing this week.

****spoiler of tonight's episode for those who got cut off in the middle****

Basically the bomb squad came, Izzy hooked up w/ Alex in the closet, the anesthesiologist left Christina Ricci by herself w/ 1 hand on the bomb and 1 pumping the oxygen bag in the operating room so he could evacuate, Addison told Bailey what happened to her husband and Bailey started to freak out and she decided she was packing to go home b/c she couldn't have the baby w/o her husband but George was trying to talk her out of it / comfort her, CR freaked out in the operating room and removed her hand from inside the guy and ran out and at the same time Meredith put her hand in place so now she is stuck w/ the guy, and McDreamy refused to evacuate his operating room b/c it would mean leaving Bailey's husband to die, so he let everyone else go (except 1 person it looked like) and he continued operating.

I think that's the gist, though not necessarily in order. I can't remember exactly what part it got cut off at.

In the preview for next week, it also looks like the shock/trauma of her husband's accident puts Bailey's baby in duress (?). I think that covers it, but feel free to post additional info. I'm just responding from memory.

(I Tivo'd the episode + the show on after it b/c I don't trust Tivo after sporting events!)

Such a good episode! chaeliezangel, I totally agree about McDreamy!

I think Christina Ricci looked great, and I loved her character! As usual, I am sooooooooooooo in love with George. He gets some of the best lines! There is no way they would let Bailey's husband die. I really don't think the show is like that. They'd better not!

I think that is the same anestesiologist (sp?) that had alcohol on his breath. Or, was that guy older? On second though, I think the drunk guy was older. I can't wait for next week!

What a great episode!

Does anyone else think that this incident might be setting up McDreamy to admit he really loves Meredith. I think, or maybe I'm hoping, that when the whole emergency is over (let's be honest, I can't see them killing Meredith off) McDreamy will finally tell his wife that he wants to be with Meredith?

I was so sad for Bailey. But I loved the way they showed her breaking down. I mean, she always plays such a tough character, it was nice, although so sad, to see her vulnerable side.

Thanks to laura for summing it up...but I'm confused...was it a cliff hanger?? We don't know what happens to Bailey's husband? Or to Meredith w/ her hand in the other guy's chest? OH MY!!

It's funny, some of us watch soaps every day, and really feel for the characters, but that's nothing compared to watching GA every week. When Baily found out about her husband, it's like it was a friend and I hurt for her. It's odd how a tv show can do that.

I love that it wasn't 'ER-ish' all about the bomb, but more about the lives the bomb was affecting.I liked the opening, Christina's comment -I have great hair, and then Izzy finding George on the floor and ordering him to get up. I knew that was George's dream from the minute they showed Meredith naked. George cracked me up when they were discussing who their new resident would be since they ran off all of them, and then Baily showed up and he hugged her.

Hey you! I didn't know you were on CC.

I think it's simply that Burke isn't interested in pursuing a friendship with Derek Shepard, so he keeps it real and refers to him as Dr. Maybe he doesn't want a friendship to ever get in the way of their work relationship and their obligations to the hospital. Plus....he IS the BF to Christina who is Meredith's best friend. He better not make friends with him!!! just kidding.

How odd that some people got cut off halfway through. Stupid Superbowl. I just happened to turn my tv on at 7pm Pacific and it was about to start.

Does anyone else think that George is going to coach Bailey through her delivery (standing in for her DH) then afterwards, she'll say, "Don't think this means I'm going to start being nice to you!"

Another note on the previews for next week:

It shows Addison saying that she's (I'm assuming Bailey) going to lose the baby if she doesn't deliver within the hour. I'm thinking this has something to do with her trying not to give birth while she waits for her husband.

My favorite lines of the night:

Christina in the shower to George: "You're smarter than me and you have great hair"

Bailey to the Chief and George: "I have a boy the size of a 10 lb bowling ball pushing it's way out of my body. Can you get me a new vagina?"

Those had me cracking up.

Thanks so much laura for the rundown. I'll get the full re-cap over at TWOP.
(I Tivo'd the episode + the show on after it b/c I don't trust Tivo after sporting events!)
I'll have to remember that! :)

Yes! I was thinking George was going to step in and help her at the end of the show. I'm surprised Addison isn't staying with her more.

For all the ladies who got "burned" bythe TiVo...;)

For events like this when you're not quite sure of the start and end time of the program you can Tivo by a general time period. For example, I went in (thry the "TiVo" button .. then pick programs to record ... then I believe it's record by time) and did a one time record for the timeslot of 10:30 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. (just to make sure I didn't miss a thing!). Works like a charm.

Great episode. After the first three minutes of WTF? my husband looked at me and said, "I guess this is their way of getting the post- Superbowl crowd to stay tuned." LOL!

What a great episode!

Cant wait till next week. Derek will go crazy when he finds out about Meredith and basically lose his cool and it will be evident to everyone there that he LOVES her and well Addisson will see it and understand its time for her to leave! Thats why she is crying in next weeks episode I mean she falls to the floor and starts to cry! So its got to be big.

Thats my prediction anyway. Oh I cant wait cause I just know it will be wonderful to see Mcdreamy comfort Meredith and telling her he loves HER!

Yay!!!!!!

PS George is cute ok and its nice for him to be there but he aint no McDreamy.

And I love Meredith's line about how "Addison has my Mcdreamy and my Dog, She's got my Mcdog, she's got my Mcdreamy and my Mcdog... she has my Mclife!!!"

Histerical.

OH also Burke doesnt like Shepard because he is his competition dont forget that whats his name the older doctor will be retiring soon and they have been both promised the job! Thats what its about between them.

Count me in the camp hoping this is the thing that pushes McDreamy over the edge with regards to his feelings for Meredith (except I can't see the writers wanting to lessen this tension any time soon!)...and I see George helping Bailey through delivery!

I can't wait for next week!

I'm hoping this pushes McDreamy back to Meredith too.

I am so enamored with this show - and pissed that we have to wait a week to find out what happens. ARGH!

My only nitpicky thing...Addison is a neonatal surgeon, right? She is not an Ob-Gyn, so why would she be delivering the baby? That made no sense to me, but whatever.

I was seriously crying when Bailey had her "break down." I could see myself doing something like that if DH wasn't there when the baby came. People see me as a 'tough cookie' (okay, no where NEAR Bailey), and I'd totally lose it if that would happen to me.

As much as George is okay, I'm glad to see Addison snip at him when he asks what to do/what's going on/whatever he asked. Sometimes George gets on me nerves - he is a watcher.

Overall, loved the episode.

I loved the episode, although the shower scene made me roll my eyes.

My favorite line was when McDreamy asks Mer is she's ok and she says that she's having a moment and waiting for it to pass.

Mer walks away and up walks Addison...

She asks Derek whats going on and he says "Just waiting for it to pass..."

What a moment.

Also, does anyone remember the very first part of the dream scene that Meredith has? She and Derek are standing alone in a white, empty OR. Mer has her hand out in front of her (like she does at the end with her hand in the guys body). What amazing foreshadowing. I think that is a hint to next week's episode. The look on their faces in that scene were so desperate, almost like they were longing for that moment not to end.

I think that somehow Derek will end up across the table from Mer with her hand in the guys body and they will once and for all realize that they can not avoid their feeling anymore.

At least I hope so!!!

ITA!!!!!! There is such great chemistry between Meredith and Derek...in every single episode. Like the way he looked at her when they were in the elevator a few weeks ago, when they were talking about being "over" each other. *sigh* I love them together.

Don't forget the closet scene from last week. The "I'm okay, your okay" moment when she was crying after the old lady died.

Ugh... You could FEEL the depth between the.

From the start I thought he made the right decision going back to his wife. I think that it wouldn't make sense for him to have met Merideth so recently and just immediately chosen her over his wife/marriage. I wanted Mer and Der to establish some depth and meaning before the chose to be together. Mostly because I want to believe that they would work out and be happy in the long run. I think they have done that now. I think that they are showing that they have what it takes. The actors are so good at those "McDreamy" moments. They take my breath away.

I thought she was maternal-fetal medicine specialist (high risk OB). If Bailey was on bed rest and at risk for having a premature baby, maybe that's why Addison was overseeing her care? Or, she could be over 35 (thus considered advanced maternal age).

I thought she would've delivered the baby because they were colleagues?

I had taped 15 minutes over and it got cut off by the last 5 minutes. ARGH!

Just for clarifications

Meredith said before entering the OR said to him "I have a feeling" and he said "I know, but it will pass" with this oh so lovey dovey expression and then Meredith went in and then Addison shows up and she asked " what are you doing?" and he said "Waiting for it to pass" and swallowed hard like he was in so much pain. AHHHHHHH I just loved it. He's so good at the love sick puppy looks. SO she didnt say a moment she said I have a feeling meaning she had a feeling something bad was going to happen once she stepped in there which is what she was feeling from the beginning in the morning after her dream.

Its so weird how Meredith said she didnt want to go to work cause she thought she was going to die or felt she was going to or should die. The dream sequence was weird and sort of scary in the beginning. After it was so funny with the three of them in the shower lathering each other up!! All the men at my house sat back down to watch! hahahaha

Thanks for clarifying...I have been looking all over this morning/afternoon for the direct quote from that scene and I couldn't find it anywhere.

Maybe I should have checked with you first! :D

I started crying also when Bailey broke down in front of George. Next week is going to be so good when McDreamy realizes Meredith is holding the bomb. Last night was one of the best episodes!!!

Great episode and I am so mad that we have to wait until next week for the conclusion. I especially love the end when Meredith is just repeating "what did I do, what did I do, what did I do". I also liked how the show stayed true to reality with the doctor handing over the manual pump (don't know the real name) to Christina Ricci and said "I got kids". . . that so would have been me! This is by far the best episode to date. I really hope that Bailey's husband does not die.

I have to admit I giggled when McDreamy told the bomb squad guy he would take his chances with the Chief because he would rather deal with him than with Bailey.

I thought the preview of Addison (sp?) crying was related to the fact that her husband is on the floor where the bomb is. I could see it also being him ending up across the table from Meredith and maybe that's when it "clicks" to Addison he still isn't over M, but I would be surprised if it all gets turned around in just 1 episode, KWIM? They've been getting a lot of play out of all the angst.

I also figured the Addison/Bailey connection was b/c they are colleagues. Even if she is a surgeon, she's supposed to be a specialist, so I would imagine if you are in Bailey's position you want "the best" and that's what Addison seems to be.

Overall I was glad there wasn't too much drama in the episode, but the dream sequence was WAY over the top for me. Whatever...anything to get a few million more viewers and more advertising $$.

There were great moments last night and they did try to keep it less ER and more GA - and I cheered when Bailey returned even if it was only to give birth. I miss her way too much. She's easily my favorite character on the show.

And if they kill anyone off - Iespecially Bailey's husband - 'm going to be sooooo ticked off.

By the way ... Sandra Oh and the actress that plays Addison were in Under the Tuscan Sun together. Funny...
