I think I might be borderlined obsessed with this show. It's one of the best shows on tv. Every week it just gets better.

Can I just say age has treated Patrick Dempsey VERY well. I mean I loved him in Can't buy me love & Loverboy...But danng, he just KEEPS gettin' hotter.

Ditto...on everything! :)

He looked SOOOOOOOOO hot just looking at Meredith when Miranda was telling him to leave her alone. It is so obvious that he still has major feelings for her (apparent also from previews for next week).

I really love everyone on this show. George was killing me tonight, as usual. And Miranda is becoming one of my favorites, I think. :)

I loved Addison and McDreamy (cannot remember his name right now) at the counselor's office. It just looked unnatural for them to be trying to reach out and touch one another. I give it to the end of the season before she's back to...wherever she came from.

I can't even appreciate the way he feels about Meredith anymore. He cannot have his cake and eat it, too. I think he is being WAY unfair to Addison and Meredith. if he wants to try to work it out with Addison, he has to focus on HER!

I used to really dislike Alex, but he is growing on me. His goodnight kiss for Izzy tonight got me teared up.

George and Miranda are AWESOME! Their characters are great, especially Miranda. Course, I loved her from episode one, with her 5 rules. She's fabulous!

The situation between Addison and Derek (is that his name?) now reminds me of the situation between Ross and Emily on Friends. Emily agreed to move to NY if Ross agreed to never talk to Rachel again. Substitute Addison for Emily and Derek for Ross.

Thank you. I thought for a second that it might have been that he swollowed his twin while in utero. That happened to my coworker.Considering they spoke of hair, nails, teeth and a jaw (mandible?) I think you're right in that it was a twin. I don't think a tumor can "grow" human body parts, but I could be wrong, as I'm not a doctor.

No, they said it was a tumor, but a really rare kind. I would imagine that it was rare b/c of the type of cells. If it was like an adult stem cell, then it could have formed the hair, nails, teeth and bone b/c those cells can differentiate into any type of cell.

I just have to say that I love this show. I don't even care for DH anymore. I love all the characters and all the story lines. Every week I see that it has made the top 10 in ratings and I get all excited.

My favorite part of this week's show was when Derek wanted to talk to Meredith and Izzy and Christine said "No" and supported Meredith as they all walked away. What friends!!

I hope they put Season 1 on DVD soon. :D

Now posting but I have been reading along. It is redundant to say this is my favorite show....why else would I be here?? :D

My favorite part of this week's show was when Derek wanted to talk to Meredith and Izzy and Christine said "No" and supported Meredith as they all walked away.
This was also my favorite part. And I thought that Addison looked so pretty and vulnerable at the 2nd therapy session and I felt for her as much as I want to hate her. And I loved the scene with Burke talking to the Chief about Christina and he said he understood where Burke was coming from (almost felt like a reference to his old relationship with Meredith's mom). Such excellent writing.

When Meredith entered the patients room, all of the doctors were taking bets and taking pictures in front of the patient and I guess Meredith just broke and went off on them.

And I think the relationship between Burke and Christina will go back & forth - and this is not the end of the two of them.
I just don't get Addison & Derek - why can't they be honest with each other. And Meredith is a better woman than me - b/c I would not give him the time of day after the affair became exposed and everyone knows he decided to be with his wife over her... what does he really have to say to her!!!

Love this show!! ;)

What precipitated Meredith going off on everyone in that guy's room? Our local news felt it necessary to break in to tell us about the capture of an escaped convict that they had JUST told us about in the last commercial break. UGH! When it came back she was yelling at everyone but I didn't see what happened to set her off?

ETA: It was just a quick break-in. We saw the end of the scene before (I think with George and Burke) and then they broke in for maybe 15 seconds. I just missed the beginning of the Meredith scene.

Don't worry, because of the whole football game last night, it threw DH and Grey's Anatomy off. :rolleyes: GA didn't come on till 11:30 here, or at least I hope it did. I set it to record it, so hopefully I'll get to see it tonight.

I thought exactly the same thing ejs about Ross and Rachel. The script could have been written by the same person.

I can't get enough of this show - I am so bored with Extreme Home Makeover (I like how they create rooms for each of the kids interests, but they are rooms the kids can't really grow with) and DH is just a filler until 10:00.

Did anyone else notice that the Chief basically admonished Dr. McDreamy while commending Dr. Burke for coming clean about his relationship with Cristina? I also think it's odd that the Chief has played such a role at getting Addison to come to (and stay in) Seattle. Do you think it is that he doesn't want Dr. McDreamy to have what he couldn't (the other Dr. Grey?)

Mcdreamy never really came clean, he tried to hide it. The chief has known Addison and Derek for a long time, and I'm sure is partial to them making it work. Maybe he feels like all Grey women are homewreckers? :D

Regarding the tumor, years ago, a similar one was removed from a patient at Stanford. It had teeth and hair. I think there was also a story on Discovery about it.

LOVE this show! Why is it only an hour??? :D

Notice how in the 2nd therapy session, both Shepards "agreed" to the others' stipulation for making the marriage work, but only because of a 3rd party? (The Chief basically making Mrs. Dr. Shepard an offer she couldn't refuse, and Miranda telling Mr. Dr. Shepard that he has no right to talk to Meredith.) Leaves us hope for Meredith!

Oh the show I know and love. So happy with last night's episode and I loved Bailey stepping in between Meredith and McDreamy and not allowing him to talk to her.

Previews looked interesting with Meredith telling him she missed him.

I just love this show too. And I'm on the side of the fence that thinks Dr. McDreamy is just that...DREAMY!! I'm lovin' so many of the charcters on the show now...Alex (the way he deals with patients is pretty cool), George (you can't help but cheer for him), Miranda (her tough exterior, but she's starting to show some real depth). LOVE IT!!!

I'm so impressed with the medical accuracies too. I am a biologist who actually learned about a tumour like that guy had on the show. Here is some information, if anyone is interested (since there were a couple of questions about what it was exactly).

"The x-ray shows a teratoma, a naturally occurring tumor that grows from an egg or sperm cell. Like an embryo, a teratoma produces stem cells. But the teratoma does not have the right balance of gene expression to create a fully integrated organism. So it grows into a dense ball of teeth, hair, and skin, a ghastly grab bag of organs like some randomly constructed Frankenstein."

I love this show!

This may be super harsh, but I think Addison's character is annoying. I don't know if it's the way her character is written or because she looks like a man in drag...

It is so funny that you say that b/c CSI (original) had a show on about Transvestites the other night and the friend of the victim (a transgender) looked just like her to the point that it could have been her. I spent the whole episode going back and forth on whether it was.

I don't like Addison either. I think she is very beautiful in more of a retro sort of way(if this makes sense), but she's a hooch. I don't think she and Shepard will be together very long.

Didn't much like this last episode. Yep, it was great writing, yep, lots of twists and turns, but it annoyed me for some reason!

I hate Dr. McDreamy with Addison!! I wanted to smack them in counseling! They couldn't even hold hands, and had a total discomfort there at the end. I hope that next week we see him and Meredith talking, and other things! :cool:

I love Miranda however.....especially when she was standing there and the "nurse" looked up at her and Christina......she said something like "you got the nurses mad at you???" Such poetic justice! LOL As a nurse, I'd love to pull shit like that at doctors sometimes, and put them in their place....oh wait, I have! :p

I hated the tumor guy, I felt so horrible that they were betting in his room and stuff! That just absolutey wouldn't have happened!! There are too many privacy laws now. I loved how Meredith finally woke up and made them all get the heck outa that room.

Alex does have a way with patients, even if it's a brash style. Glad he's studying too! Also glad that he kissed Izzy, and that he talked that girl into growing up and taking on her own life for the first time.

George........wtf is he thinking?? Open mouth, insert foot! Christina and Burke, love them still. I just want them to grab each other out in the open and kisssssssss..........in front of everyone! I'm thinking that will happen sooner or later, at least I hope! :D

Can't wait, again, for next week!

*Great* the way the girls & Dr Bailey got up in Derek's face and made him leave Merideth alone. And the hand-holding scene was so awkward to watch -- Addison is skeeving me out now. Do you think the actress is po'ed that she has to be so awful now?

I was aboslutely just cackling at the lady and her heart -- her husband's reaction was priceless. She's a mythical monster -- she's never going to die!!! He was hysterical (and who could blame him for going off! Although why you'd keep your mouth shut until you finally just left her, I don't know.)

Poor dumb George and his no social sensitivity -- he was just smacking himself in the head. I was so glad that Burke threw him the "you're still my guy" line.

As for the Alex & Izzy kiss... whew!! I cried and then went upstairs and found my hubby... ;) Such hotness. Seriously (heehee -- I love how she keeps using that word about him, no matter her current emotion)

I got my TV Guide Tuesday and there was an article about Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey). It was pretty interesting. I am trying to find the article on-line but not having any luck. They mentioned (what I would consider) a spoiler that doesn't make sense to me. I will type it in white so I don't ruin anything for you guys.

The article mentioned that we found out in the November 6th show that Miranda was pregnant. I don't remember hearing this. The article also said that we found out a couple weeks before that she was married for 10 years. I remember that but not the pg part. Did I miss something? I guess IRL she was pg (had the baby on October 30th) so they decided to write it into the show. She will probably have the baby on the show in the spring.

I think we'll definitely see them together at some point. I think he's going through the motions right now with Addison to see if there is anything to save his marriage, but in the end his desire to be with me...I mean M...will overpower him. So maybe that's my dream, but that's where I see it leading. How can you be married to one when the one you love is another? I know people do it all the time, but I know I wouldn't be able to.

I oved last night's episode! I tried my hardest not to cry but the old and in love couple just got me. How did Meredith even keep from bawling!?

I am loving Alex and Izzie, they are so cute together and remind me of an old married couple.

I hated the beginning of the date b/w Christina and Dr. Burke(what's his first name), it was soooo awkward. But by the end of the night after the surgery when she said it was the best date of her life I realized he "gets" her and will give her the time and space she needs to become comfortable in the relationship.

I have absolutely no idea why Derek is with Addison and so completely miserable when he is with her. If I were in that situation I don't know how I would put up with that behavior. Clearly he's got Meredith on his mind. He obviously doesn't love Addison and I don't think she really loves him either. If they aren't in love, how is either one obligated to the other? I know they took vows, etc. but I think just because you will always love someone because of a role they once played in your life(ex. Derek and Addison at one point having a happy marriage) doesn't mean you're obligated to make it work a second time. Does this make sense?

I shut my eyes during the commercials after George told the jumper that he couldn't find the woman in billing, and Meredith talked to the old husband and he siad he didn't want his wife to know that she only had a few months to live. I didn't wake up until the 11 o'clock news!

Christina and Burke - the best date ever - LOL! She did look totally hot in that purple dress.

The old couple - awww, so sweet. I hope that's how DH and I are in 60 years. The look on the husbands face when he heard the news was so sad... That's the part where I wanted to cry.

I feel like the show gets better and better every week. I am with everyone - it truly was another tear jerker.

I am sort of getting tired of the wishy-washiness of Dr. McDreamy... you chose your wife but act like you don't see her on the ferry... make up your mind and stop stringing poor Meredith along!
I also can't beleive that Bailey is pg - she is so funny to me!

I work for a cancer organization and the main storyline really hit home for me... an ethical topic that you can have a heated discussion with all of your girlfriends...

Count me as another one who is growing to love the relationship between Izzie and Alex. It's like he really really wants to continue to bee the @sshole, but she gets under his skin (in a good way) and makes him feel human just like everyone else.

And I was also getting tired real quick of all of George's talk of Carpe Diem. :rolleyes:

Patrick Dempsey looked absolutely adorable. ;) I thought Sandra Oh was hysterical--I love her bitter sarcastic character--a woman after my own heart! And I just about cried during the scene with George and his father. I'm not so happy about Derek and Meredith moving on...but I'm sure it's not quite over for them! Actually, when Addison asked him if he was "done", I thought she meant done trying, but she actually meant done hurting her. Interesting...

Anyone else watching?

I love how they used the man who woke up and needed surgery as a metaphor for how Meredith was feeling. Meredith said she'd want the surgery because it would be batter to be fixed or at peace. Derek said he wasn't sure what he'd do, she said "I know you aren't". OOOH, what a great storyline.

I felt so bad for Izzy trying to make everything perfect with no help. I wonder what will happen now that Alex has told Meredith about his failed test?

My fav. part of last nights episode was when Merideth and Derek were sitting on the bench at the end. The sexual tension between them is so real. I'm glad they had that moment because it seems like they could finally let each other go, for the most part. I kept wanting him to just give up with Addison but then when they were together at the end it just seemed right.

I just love Burke and Christina. She's so crazy!

I heart this show! Wish Meredith would quit being whiny and move on. Hope last nights ending was an indication that she is.

I'd forgotten that they called Miranda "the Nazi". I like her tough, she's softened up a bit. But she still tell's it like it is.

It was funny when Preston opened up to Christina about his personal life and all she could say was she was in surgery. Like them 2 together.

George was hysterical as ever. His facial expressions are so priceless.

I agree...another great episode. It was painful to watch Addision and McDreamy kiss though. I just didn't want to see that. I did think that Addison looked the prettiest that I've seen her on that show.

Meredith seems resigned to the facts. Sad but good I guess. LOVED her confidence when she asked the guy if he wanted to buy her a drink. That was great!

Great episode, as always -- although I do keep seeing them use similar storylines as ER. They handle them differently, at least... but it's a little deja vu-ish. (The woman cutting off breasts to prevent cancer, the long-term comatose/vegetative patient waking up, etc.)

I am so looking forward to McDreamy meeting him next week (what the hell does she do to him in bed that sends him to the hospital??? Sheesh, girl!)

And of course, George & his family -- I know it got negative and emotional later, but I loved seeing these big burly guys racing into his house to jump on him and love him. Yay, we met George's family. O'MAAAAALLLEY!!

Cannot WAIT to see how George reacts to Izzy's proposal!

This show never dissapoints. In the preview I saw, it looked like the syphillys nurse kissed Alex! What was up with that!? I am really looking forward to next week. Do you see a long-term relationship with Burke & Christina?? It seems like the more time they spend together, the more they notice that they are sooo different. Don't get me wrong, I love both their characters - but I would like to see them spend more time into her character in order to find out why she is so closed-off from others (they touched on it when she miscarried...).

And another observation - it looks like Bailey is pg in real life... her face is getting fuller and they are beginning to show her from the waist up.

i just have to say i really love how the writers/producers/directors are introducing us to all the different characters one little piece at a time ..... i thought they were just doing it with Baily (letting it slip that she's been married for 10 years, then she's pregnant) and last night's episode showed us that the bartender is gay (anyone else recognize him from that fox reality show my big fat fiancee?), and that preston has more of a heart and can cook! we got to see o'mally's crazy family, and i'm sure there have been more examples that are not coming to me at the moment ......it just makes the show so much fun- because it's not necessarily related to the direct plot or theme of the show ... it's just great character development!!!!

to respond to njdiva, i definitely think we'll learn more about christina - but just like everyone else (aside from meredith), it'll just be one snippit at a time!

Okay. I rewatched the previews for next week and the guy in bed with Meredith and in the hosptial bed are not the same guy as was in the bar with her at the end of this weeks episode. The guy in the hospital has darker skin, shorter hair.

Also. I was watching Sex and the City last night and during season four when Samantha finds Richard "eating another woman's sushi" *wink wink* she then puts flyers all over his street about how he is a cheating a$$hole. She is taping the flyers to a phone poll when a police officer approachers her and says "Mam, you can't do that" and then Samantha repsonds with "This man told me he loved me and then I caught him in bed with another woman" and the officer says "Go ahead!" and walks away. Anyway- the officer was Dr. Bailey aka the Nazi from Grey's Anatomy. Just FYI.

The bartender/booze + surgeon/scalpel comment was hilarious. Its the little cracks they get in that I love about this show. Its all dramatic and then right on to comedy! :)

I just assumed it was curiousity with McDreamy asking how long they've been sleeping together, but OOOOOOHHHHHH what a fun twist if its the brother coming into town for the holiday!!!

I almost wet my pants when McDreamy was on the ferry and his gorgous locks were whipping in the wind. Mmmmmmmm.

I think this was one of the best episodes yet. I stopped watching ER circa 1996 so I have no 'comparison' factor with the similar cases. I thought the case with the guy waking up, and then eventually dying was one of the most gut-wrenching they have shown. I was crying like a baby when he died and Meredith is getting ready to scrub in, but just drops the soap in the sink out of despair. :(

Sandra Oh was at her comedic best this week! When she yelled at Burke for making friends with her friends! :) Reminded me of the Seinfeld episode where George's 'Worlds Collide.' ;) (and, speaking of typing things and nobody reading them, may I point out a picky comment that I made pages ago? Her name is spelled CRISTINA. [I]Kudos to Txfish for spelling it right! [I]

I knew as soon as that mean doctor was talking up 'the Nazi' that it would turn out to be Bailey. :D The look on the mean doc's face was too priceless when he found out!! hee hee.

I agree with y'all about the exchange between Cristina and Bailey in the ER. Bailey lets down her guard by telling Cristina she's pregnant and Cristina lets down her guard by confirming that she and Burke are together and by not denying that Burke was the father of the baby she lost. Great scene, very touching moment between the two of them!

I hope Meredith just starts dating all sorts of hotties now! She deserves to be happy! :D

I loved Christina's facial expressions, when she got 'keyed' and when they were discussing it in the elevator about moving in. I think my favorite look was when he entered her apt.

Derek - you can totally tell he's not into that relationship at all, which is why it was more of a friend pat on the back thing. I do think we'll see more from George & Meredith, especially after the look they shared when she told 'running guy' that they were over.

I laughed out loud a ton of times last night. As for the guy-in-the-bar thing - I don't think the first guy (from last week) will be back. When Izzy and George were giving the guys nicknames, it told me that this sleeping around has been going on for awhile and that it is not the day after T-giving. (I personally cracked up when the guy sprinted by and Izzy said, "I shall call him, Running Guy."

Did anyone else think that the lady pregnant with quints didn't look big enough. I died when they said she's supposed to be 32 weeks there. Yeah right. There would be no way that 5 babies would fit it that belly. :rolleyes: I've watched enought Discovery channel baby shows to know that!

I didn't cry last night - but I'm pretty sure that I will next week. That quints episode looks pretty dramatic.

Nah, I think he'll stay around. This whole boards thing is their way of making Alex look more human and less like a stud. I think he'll finally end up telling everyone what's going on (out of desperation), and they will all gather 'round him and help him study. It will probably be some marathon cram thing, and they'll all bond during it. It will help them all see why he's been acting as he has, and they'll realize he's not some perfect guy like he pretends to be.

I am so with you on the quint belly -- no way that was big enough for 5!! The weirdest part is, I'm not kidding you 4 out of the 5 names for her girls are on our short list. I was joking with dh after she said the first two, watch -- the next one will be Audrey! Instead it was Lucy, which is HIS current favorite LOL

Alex is just an idiot. But then we knew that ;) George cracked me up -- I love him mouthing "Yes I am" at her.

When Cristina said, Now do you still think it's a good idea to live together? I told DH that Preston's correct answer was "I want to be with you, and we'll make it work". But he said no way, buying new underwear is a deal breaker, no matter how much mess you can otherwise put up with LOL

And I'm still just shivering at the idea of 3 4-year-old boys and 5 newborns. Also, at drinking out of the toilet. Urghh.

ETA: Did the woman ever confirm that she was on fertility drugs? Because if this was a big multiple eggs deal, why would one placenta be causing problems for all of them -- with fraternals, don't they all have their own placenta? And water sacs? If they were all in one and sharing one placenta, they'd have to be natural identical quints.

Could be.....I read a spolier in Entertainment Weekly before this season started where the creator of the show stated that just like in real life some of the student doctors would not make it through thr program, so it could be....

I didn't love last nights episode. Didn't hate it either though. Glad to see it is on next week, because with DH they didn't say when the next episode is on (probably because the Surivor finale is on next week, they won't have a new DH but will have a new GA because who will watch the Reunion for Survivor when no one really has cared too much about this season)

I liked last night's episode, but didn't love it. As opposed to other episodes where there was a ~theme~ to them, but not one that was too overt, I thought last night's 'lonliness' theme was way too overt. I thought when the prisioner kept saying 'He would have left me, I would have been all alone, I would have been alone." - It was overkill! They didn't need to have the prisioner repeating that. I think the audience could have surmised that if the boyfriend had threatened to leave her, she would have been alone.

Good episode, but too 'pushy' with its theme this week. IMO

I think they are portraying the Addison-Derek relationship pretty realistically. People don't usually go from separated, to back together, to separated again in a few days or even weeks. I think they are honestly showing the struggles of their turbulent/confusing relationship.

Ok, I'm in the minority here, but I'm ready to turn the page with the Sheppards. I don't care for the "hanging on" banter and I think a couple getting back together would be more affectionate, make an effort, etc.

I was a bit disappointed with last night's episode. I also agree with the above quote- the storyline with Meredith & the Sheppards is getting a little worn out. I know it is realistic for couples to go back & forth But for the sake of television - PLEASE speed it up!

And I know I mentioned this before- but I am also growing weary of the Cristina/Burke relationship... she is starting to come off a bit rude to me.

I missed exactly what it was...she asked him "do you remember when you..." (didn't hear the rest) and then he said "Yes, you didn't talk to me for a whole year afterward." Then she proceeded to say that she felt she needed to do that to Izzy.

I'm sure one of the other ladies can fill in the blanks, but there is the basic jist of it :)

Something about testing her during a crisis and seeing if she "had what it takes," even though they knew the baby was going to die. It was also suposed to serve as a lesson about the need to seperate yourself from your patients.

Addison felt that Izzie would be an incredible pedi-doc (whatever specialty that she is), but that Izzie gets to involved and emotionally invested. They seem to think that if you're that involved, you can't be the doctor you need to be. So to "teach her" to "let go" and not be so involved, she made her care for one of the babies that they KNEW would be dead by morning. Izzy would give her all, become emotionally attached and think that the baby died because of "something" she did or didn't do. This would hopefully teach her to not take things so personally and to not get so involved.

I think the lesson was that sometimes patients will die no matter what you do (stay up for 48 hours, give up your own life, etc.) and you need to know when to cut your losses, deal with the loss and move on. Being in residency is part of growing up and dealing with harsh realities of the real world (in which sadly people and even babies die). I think this was the overall theme with the show, including the bit about Alex. He should have been studying for Step 3 instead of trying to come up with a treatment for a terminal patient.

i agree!!! they are so adorable when they are together, and they have such enormous respect for each other - a great base for a wonderful relationship. perhaps, they will be come good friends and christina will start to get jealous and act more like a real girlfriend.

Did anybody see the biography that E did on Reese Witherspoon? It must have been filmed pretty recently because they interviewed Patrick Dempsey and he was wearing his hospital attire and looked hot in his Dr. jacket! I admit it, I was drooling watching him interview with his Dr. McDreamy jacket on! :)
