DH bought me a new computer a couple of months ago as a surprise when my old one bit the dust. I love the computer, but I need a larger hard drive in order to store the same amount of pictures and music I had on my old computer, plus I am always adding more.

Is it very complicated to have this done? It is a Dell notebook computer -- Would I have to send it back to the company? I can't do that b/c I use it every day for work. My BIL is a computer-techie guy -- Is this something he could likely do?

Changing out a hard drive is very easy for someone who knows what s/he is doing. I'd check the warranty on the Dell, though, to ensure that you won't be voiding it by opening the case or changing out parts with something that isn't "Dell certified."

You'll probably want to update the RAM too, or your machine will run more slowly than your old machine.
