I am looking for more ideas for snack mixes. I love Chex mix, but have also enjoyed other "new" ones like ones that are spicy or sweet and have all different things in them. So if you have any snack mix recipes PLEASE POST! I would love to try new mixes!!

This is one I make - it's just from Chex cereal.

INGREDIENTS:
9 cups Corn Chex®, Rice Chex® or Wheat Chex® cereal (or combination)
2 cups small pretzel twists
2 cups bite-size cheese crackers
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1 (1 ounce) package ranch dressing mix
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
Mix cereal, pretzels and crackers in 1-gallon-size resealable plastic food-storage bag.
Add butter, dressing mix (dry) and cheese.
Seal bag; shake until well mixed.

I've made something that is more like a trail mix, but it's still a good snack!
I don't have a recipe, but I just use mixed nuts (whatever kind you like), crasins, and mini m&m's. It's a mix of sweet, salty, and chocolate! Yum!

Anybody know if it matters if the Chex cereal for the Chex mix is a little stale?

If you are making the kind of chex mix that is baked in the oven, then I would think a little staleness won' matter.

My grandmother used to make this and now it is a family favorite...

1 box oyster crackers
1-2 packets ranch dressing mix
dill weed
1/4 cup olive oil

Mix all together (use dill to taste- I like a lot of dill), and put in a cake pan or baking sheet and bake about 15 minutes, or until the crackers start to brown. Let cool before eating.

Will give you horrendous breath, buy yummy!

I make one from Trader Joe's stuff:

Asian rice crackers (can't remember the real name - mix of small crackers)
peanut butter stuffed pretzels
wasabi peas
craisins

I eat it all the time and it keeps forever as long as you clip the bag shut. It's sweet/salty/spicey and yummy.

I make this one for parties. It's pretty sweet but addictive--

White Chocolate Gorp

2 pounds white chocolate
6 cups crispy rice cereal squares (Rice Chex)
3 cups toasted oat cereal (cheerios)
2 cups thin pretzel sticks or small bite-size pretzels
2 cups cashews or other nuts
1 (12 ounce) package mini candy-coated chocolate pieces

Melt chocolate in a large saucepan over low heat or in microwave until just until soft. Combine the crispy rice cereal squares, toasted oat cereal, pretzels, cashews and candy in big roaster pan or bowl. Stir chocolate into mixture. Turn out on waxed paper and let cool.

1 box honey grahms cereal
2 bags of blanched peanuts
2 bags M&M's

This makes a TON but I love to have it around the holidays, its very addicting.
