I started taking 50 mg of Clomid this cycle on CD 5-9. Ever since, my pre-O temps have been abnormally high. Usually my baseline pre-O temps are 97.5ish and on the clomid they have been 97.7 - 97.9. Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon? I'm afraid I won't be able to detect an O temp spike b/c of these high temps.

ETA: my chart is in my sig if you want to take a look! TIA!

Lots of women have screwed-up temps while on Clomid. Mine were so screwed up (I did four rounds of Clomid) that I eventually just gave up temping (in my case, that was an easy decision because we were doing the trigger shot anyway). I assume that women who didn't do a trigger shot (and instead tried to predict O with TCOYF signs) counted more heavily on their pre-O signs to time intercourse.

Good luck!

I just started Clomid as well. I'm on my third dose of 50 mg today and I'm on CD 5, taking Clomid on CD's 3-7.

I'm experiencing the same thing. Usually I'm always 97.3. I've been 97.4, 97.5, and now today I was 98.0! I was wondering what was up with that, too.

I'm gonna put my chart in my sig, if you want to take a look.

I am on my 3rd round of clomid and my temps have been mucher higher too.

Also, try not to look too much into the 2WW temps. Mine were picture perfect high and it meant nothing. I got my hope way up to be let down. Clomid does funny things to a chart!!!

Are you having any side effects? I'm not feeling anything at all. I know I'm only on the third day, but I expected to feel something, I guess. I've just had NOTHING going on for soooo long (9 months of no O), that I just sort of expected feel different somehow. Some sort of stirring in my abdomen or something. Do I sound like a nut?

I'm driving myself crazy mentally. Is it going to work? Is it not going to work? Should I not get my hopes up? If I try not to think that it'll work, will I keep it from working by some weird power of the mind? I'm worried about our sex life becoming a chore. I'm worried about everything. And I'm just starting out.....

kat ~ Thanks for the advice. But I don't think I can tear myself away from charting, mostly b/c I am not being monitored w/ blood work or u/s during my cycle and I have to take progesterone starting 2DPO for a short LP. Besides, I am not entirely convinced that the OPKs are working for me. So I am just trying to predict O w/ cummulative info from TCOYF signs, charting and OPKs, and hope for the best! Thanks!!

jbenny75 ~ Glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing wacky temps and anxiety over every aspect of TTC! You don't sound like a nut...I promise (b/c I am worrying over the same exact things!). I do have some s/es...hot flashes. Blah. But no "stirring" in the abdomen either (or bb pain or anything like that)!! Good luck!! I hope it works for you!

gmb4503 ~ Thanks! I think I am going to stop charting after I O for that very reason! ;)

Clomid causes picture perfect charts for me, month after moth. I get high temps, implantation dips, and triphasic temps. Other people have had the same experience. Not charting after O is probably a good idea, if you want to stay "cautiously optimistic."

jbenny, I didn't get side effects until several days of taking the meds. It was only after I stopped them, and then when I O'd, and then the entire 2ww, that I had basically every side effect possible! So don't worry if you're not feeling anything yet--maybe you'll be lucky and not have any.

I've noticed higher temps on 100 mg as opposed to 50 mg (the only other time I O). Since they're so high pre O, they're going to have to be higher post O (since they are normal post O temps for me).

As for symptoms, I wish I could say that I had none!

I'm afraid I won't be able to detect an O temp spike b/c of these high temps.
I think you still would see a temp spike. Yes, it would be higher than normal, but remember, with charting you're looking for a PATTERN of temps to determine ovulation.

Okay, now my temps are just plain weird. 96.8 yesterday and 98.1 today. Taken at the same time.
