I've seen the commericals for Yoga Booty Ballet and also for Carmen Electra's Strip Workouts. Both look interesting to me. Anyone use them? Thoughts?
I have a background in dancing and am pretty limber. I'm looking to tone and have fun.

I"ve done one of the Carmen Electra DVD's and it was okay. I've also taken pole dancing for fitness at a local company and I LOVE it. It's such a great workout!

Pole dancing sounded like fun to me also, but DH was against it. He'd prefer I do any risque stuff at home (like with a dvd) instead of public.

Professional Edge Workouts: Yoga Blends
Yoga Booty Ballet (YBB), brainchild of fitness professionals Gillian Marloth and Teigh McDonough, is more than an exercise class, it's a dynamic ensemble that synthesizes "groove" and yoga between more booty shakin' than one could ever imagine! As Swerve's (a trendy Los Angeles studio) trademark team-taught workout, YBB combines elements of strength training, modern dance and classical ballet with a potpourri of hatha, Ashtanga and Kundalini yoga. Through an energetic combination of mind, body and live drums, it improves stamina, flexibility, core strength, postural alignment and balance.
"Yoga Booty Ballet is a class that employs everything I love," explains Marloth. "It's the culmination of what speaks to me—yoga, ballet, expression in workout, shaking your booty and having a great time doing it!" McDonough adds, "It embodies passion. We teach people to get out of their brains and be free in their bodies."
Although each workout is a unique experience, class format follows accordingly:
Groovin' Warm-Up: McDonough leads an energized, upbeat and hip-grinding prep for the YBB experience. It's about shake, shimmy, rattle and rock, footloose and fancy free!
Ballet Barre: Marloth guides a series of intensive ballet barre exercises targeting the glutes, hips and thighs. Proper alignment, length and grace remain its focus.
Booty Ballet Sculpt: McDonough challenges the cardiovascular system by incorporating pliés with upper-body sculpting, with or without handheld weights.
Powerful Yoga: Marloth demonstrates mindful perfection of the power of combining body, mind and spirit through yoga poses.
Pilates Abdominals: Lying supine, Marloth incorporates a 7-inch squishy ball to engage abdominal muscles and pelvic floor with inner-thigh contractions.
Cool-Down: McDonough empowers this finale with yoga, emphasizing breathing, flexibility and lengthening.

I've taken a pole dancing class a couple of times before. It was lots of fun, but wasn't really my thing. Well, no exercise is, but that's another story altogether. The pole dancing was difficult, and I swear, I had so many bruises on my legs. The instructors make it look super easy, and then I get on there and I'm like a heffer trying to work my way around the pole. It's just sad! :(

Giving a bump to see if anyone has taken a pole or chair class?
There are a few "new" fitness companies in my area that offer these classes and they seem fun.
Anyone have any experience?

I've been taking the S factor pole dancing classes....they are awesome! They're really about controlling your body movements and feeling good about yourself, plus it is an amazing workout. It really strengthens your core and loosens up your hips. I love that there are no windows, no mirrors, and no men, so you can just get really comfortable uhhhh...indulging in your sexiness! :D

My husband just bought me a pole for our house for my birthday. (I asked for it);)
I tried it for the first time last night and its NO JOKE. Seriously..heffer trying to wrap my way around a pole is SUCH a good description.
However, I am determined to get back to what I weighed on our wedding day so Im hoping that pole dancing along with my 3 miles a day on my treadmill will do the trick. I want to take a class but am waiting until I can actually do a couple of tricks on my own.
Anyone else thinking about buying their own pole?

Hah! I know a girl with a pole, so I thought I would give it a try at her house. I ended up falling off and landed in the hospital with a concussion. And I have a background in dance! :) I think I'll stick with my step class and running. :o
