Show me your small porch

We have a carport and small porch. Pretty soon, I'd like to start scraping my trim and repainting it (hell I'd love to do the whole house but a chore that big scares the bejeezus outta me), Anyway Is there any hope for my small porch to look inviting and cute? Here's a photo.

One word: Flowers. :D

Flowers do wonders, they're easy, and they're cheap. I'd even run a row of flowers down along the carport. Is that a bush in front of the carport? If so, maybe you don't want to rip that out... ;) Perhaps a hanging basket, if you can't plant right in front of the porch? I wonder if there is a climbing vine you could get (Clematis??) to grow up that pole to the right of the door...?

interesting. Hanging plants sounds good. I'm not totally opposed to pulling out those bushes. If the weather holds out this weekend i May start in on the posts around the carport and we may start pulling out some of those bushes and stuff.
