Definitely! That's what I tell people. If you didn't like Seinfeld, you won't like this show. I also tell them that this show is for smart people :p

Remember Julia Louis-Dreyfus on AD? She was hilarious! I wish she was a regular, just loved her character.

I've loved this show from the beginning and DH got into it last year. There is a part of me that wants a Roomba now...

I really have to remember the switch to Monday nights. It was so easy to watch it on Sunday, I hope I won't miss a bunch now.

Not sure if it's really like Seinfield, it's so much wackier. I never really cared for Seinfield that much, though. :p

Yay! Fellow Arrested Development fans! I just love this show!

When it first came on I just caught a random episode and just did not find it funny at all. But then my sister came home with the box set of the whole first season and I happened to catch the first episode by accident. I was hooked! You really have to see them all to truly find the humor in it.

I can't wait till the 2nd season comes out...I'll definitely be picking it up!

My husband and I have been rabid "Arrested Development" fans since Season 1. We love the humor and the ensemble cast. And Ron Howard's voiceovers rock!

I'm sad that "Arrested Development" lost the Best Emmy for a Comedy Series to "Everybody Loves Raymond." Back in the day, Raymond was great, but last season left a lot to be desired.

While I'm sad Henry Winkler won't be on this season, I'm thrilled with his replacement - Scott Biao. Bring it home, Chachi. This should be interesting.

I love the actress who plays Maeby (Alia Shawkat). A few years ago she was on a really cute show called "State of Grace." "Arrested Development" is sooo different.

Can't wait for tonight - my TiVo is set!

I heard about Scott Biao joining "Arrested Development" the radio. Henry Winkler commited to a new series on CBS titled "Out of Practice" (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/out_of_practice/).

Did you notice that the actress that played George Michael's girlfriend Ann was the same one who played "Grace" on "State of Grace?" I wasn't sure at first, but the IMDB confirmed it. I thought it was interesting that the two actresses ended up on the same show again - and in vastly different roles than they'd had before.

I just read that AD got TANKED in the ratings last night. CBS' "King of Queens" and "How I Met Your Mother" more than doubled AD's ratings and NBC's "Surface" tripled them. Even WB's "Seventh Heaven" beat it. Sad, sad....

AD was great last night!

The problem with that show is that the humor is a different class than most of the other shows. I don't mean to offend anyone by saying that, but it's more a "smart" comedy, like Seinfeld, except you really have to see more than one episode to see the humor.

I think AD's "problem" (if you can call it that) is that there are so many running jokes that you almost have to have watched all the way through. It's hard to watch sporadically and I guess a lot of people don't want to commit to watching every week. Plus, it's too smart for like 80% of the population!

Actually, I find that you can miss an entire show without losing too much of the narrative thread, because they burn through story lines so fast that the chances are good that by missing one or two shows you'll miss several entire plots and not even know it. But don't try to come in five minutes after the show has started, because you'll miss all the running gags. :)

doradora, we always record it now, even when we're watching in real time (we don't have TiVo), because that's the only way we know we'll catch all the jokes!

Networks Cancel 'Arrested Development,' '7th Heaven'

By Nellie Andreeva, Reuters

LOS ANGELES (Nov. 11) - The Camdens will bid farewell to viewers in May when the WB Network's top-rated family drama "7th Heaven" ends its run after 10 seasons in what sources said was largely a cost-cutting move.
The Bluth clan of Fox's ratings-challenged "Arrested Development" is also headed for the exit after Fox cut the third-season order on the Emmy-winning comedy to 13 episodes.
Also getting the ax at Fox is "Arrested's" companion on Monday, the freshman comedy "Kitchen Confidential," whose order will not be extended beyond the initial 13 episodes.
"7th Heaven," whose debut on August 26, 1996, marked the first-ever Monday broadcast of the then-fledging WB Network, will bow out as the longest-running family drama on television.
After 10 seasons, the show is still a top draw for WB, averaging 5.1 million viewers this season to date. Creatively, the show also will go out in style, creator Brenda Hampton said.
"I think this is the best season we've ever had, and we're planning a very exciting and heartwarming conclusion to the series," she said. "On the show, we talk about choosing your feelings, and we chose to feel happy and blessed to have been on the air for so long."
There is talk about a potential "7th Heaven" spinoff, but Hampton admits that would be hard to do.
"('7th Heaven') is a family show," she said. "I think the success of the show is that the family is intact with the mom, the dad and the children, so it is a very difficult show to spin off."
Sources indicated that the reasons to take "7th Heaven" off the air were primarily financial. As series age, they get more and more expensive, with the price tag especially high for a show with a large cast like "7th Heaven." The cancellation of the long-running series also comes during a process of extensive cost-cutting across all Warner Bros. divisions.
As for the demise of "Arrested," it comes just as the acclaimed comedy came back this week after a hiatus to make room for Fox's baseball coverage. The two back-to-back episodes averaged a paltry 4 million viewers Monday, sending Fox to fifth place in the 8 p.m. hour and putting a dent on the ratings of its lead-out, the rookie drama "Prison Break."
There is a possibility that the show will be shopped around, but its high cost is expected to be prohibitive for a cable network.
Fox said Thursday that it will pull "Arrested Development" and "Kitchen Confidential" off the schedule for the remaining three Mondays of the November sweep, replacing them with a rerun of the previous episode of "Prison Break" leading into an original episode of the serialized drama.
"Arrested" and "Kitchen" are set to return to their time slots with original episodes December 5, following the fall finale of "Prison Break" on November 28.
I assumed this would be its last season, since it's getting destroyed in the ratings on Monday nights, but I thought they'd at least let it go through to the end of the season! I don't think I've ever been this sad over a TV show going off the air. :( :( :(

Fox set it up to fail, plain and simple, when they moved it to Monday.

The way I see it, there are people who get AD, and there are people who don't. And if you get AD, you probably also like the Simpsons, Family Guy, King of the Hill, etc. It was perfect on Fox Sunday Night. It's just incongrous to me to put a silly, smart comedy as a lead-in for a gritty hour-long drama, unless you are really just trying to kill either or both of them.

I am the least optimistic person in the world, but, given what Fox did with Family Guy, there may still be hope for AD.

Oh I was so happy with the full hour of AD last week. The whole show had me cracking up, but I really lost it when Gob came up with "Tiny Town", and Bob Loblaw said that he thought the room might contain some sort of listening device as we see the boom get quickly pulled out of frame. :D

And now they're talking cancellation? :(

I think that American TV viewers need to be told when to laugh. AD has no laugh track. Kitchen Confidential, while not in the same league as AD, had a lot of potential, but it didn't do great and got pulled. It didn't have a laugh track either. But that drek "The War at Home?" Laugh track and people eat it up with a spoon.

I don't have any premium cable, but if Showtime picks up AD, I'll get it. If they don't and AD is gone forever, I'll pick up the Season 3 DVDs and be glad that I had 3 seasons of a fantastically funny show that went out with a bang and without "jumping the shark."

I was just reviewing my TiVo To Do List and saw that on Friday, February 10th, Fox is airing a 2 hour Arrested Development episode. Or perhaps it is more than one episode - from the description, it looks like it could be three separate episodes. This is how it is listed:

Fakin' It / Family Ties / Exit Strategy

It sucks that it's going to be over, but at least we'll get some closure and have a chance to see the final episodes.

Maybe they figured that the two demographics don't overlap? They certainly don't in my case. The only time we watch the Olympics is for Curling and the associated "HUH?!" factor.

Eitehr that, or Fox just really wants to make it look like AD's ratings were poor, even for the finale.
