That was definitely the scariest tv series I think I've seen. I had nightmares last night. Especially about the guy standing over the crib.

The ghost in the back seat scared the bejeezus out of me. Like whoa.

The dripping blood gave me chills! I wondered how they were going to keep Sam from going to law school...I certainly didn't think that it would have been by killing his girlfriend (although I should have known better----pretty blonde girls must die  ). I wonder if what they are hunting is drawn to him for some reason.
I like this show so far. I hope it doesn't die an early death like other shows with a supernatural theme (Miracles, Point Pleasant, etc.)

Maybe it's because we're getting ready to be parents, but both DH and I made comments on how scary and gory it was for a 9 p.m. show - figured it would fit more at 10 when the kiddies are more likely to be in bed!
The part that freaked me out the most was when the ghost was on top of the guy and Dean was shooting through the window and she kept flashing between skeleton and normal-looking girl. Creepy.
I am interested to see where they go with this, but I don't know if it will last. I love Jensen Ackles (the older brother Dean)...*drool* so I'm probably going to keep watching. :D

The WB only has shows on until 10.

I thought bits of it were somewhat meh, but all the stuff with the "woman in white" were definitely creepy. I'll tune in tonight, but not sure if this will be added to my schedule of programs.

I've enjoyed the first couple of episodes, I even found them to be a bit creepy, which impressed me. I think they did a good job with the music and foley. And, the special effects are great for a tv series. Looking forward to next week since Amy Acker is guest starring.

I thought I recognized her in the preview, but I wasn't paying close attention. I heart Amy Acker.
This show isn't as smart as I'd like it to be, but maybe it will get better. Last night Tommy was reading Joseph Campbell in the tent right before he was attacked---I was glad to see that because it gives me hope for future episodes (and also because I am a nerd).

I really liked the first ep, but was kind of bored with this one. I hope it gets better. The special effects were pretty cool for TV, though.
I heart Amy Acker.
Me too. :)

Further evidence of my nerdiness, here is some background on the show's first two identified monsters/supernatural creatures:
The Woman in White (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Llorona)
The Wendigo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wendigo)

DH is something of a cryptozoology fan, so he was able to fill me in on some Wendigo "facts" already. I like how the show is covering actual myths and legends so far. I wonder what's in the water next week...
Did anyone used to watch Angel? I thought Amy Acker did a great job as Illyria at the end. (I just saw a last season rerun, so it's fresh in my mind.)

I thought Tuesday night's episode was somewhat creepy, especially at the end when they showed the little boy's head popping out of the water...remided me of The Ring.
I hope next week's episode is good, but I'm a little skeptical since it seems the possession thing is getting over used.
bunnybeth
09-29-2005, 09:31 AM
It didn't seem as creepy as the first couple, but I admit this week I wasn't paying full attention to the show. I was a little disappointed it was a ghost again, and not a creature, but then again it does seem to be a more ghost/demon-centric show.

I agree...very creepy! I am disappointed that there is so little character development on this show. I am not sure how long I can stay interested in the mini-horror movie of the week like they have given us so far.

Anyone stil watching? I thought the "Bloody Mary" ep. was the scariest of all, but was disappointed that they completely ripped off the ending of The Ring with the girl crawling out of the mirror.
Last night's was pretty good, and I enjoy seeing which urban legend they're going to conquer next.

I'm still watching, but I am also still slightly disappointed. The plot holes are huge. Huge!
I love the creepy special effects, but I wish there was more to the stories. It is amazing how little storytelling they do with a whole hour of time.

Yeah, I saw The Ring reference as well. But, I was like WTH with that whole ending. The curse kills the curse? So freaking confusing.
This really isn't as good as I hoped for. But, I still like keeping it on in the background on Tuesday nights. It's got the creepy vibe and I love making fun of the plot holes. :p

I hope next week's episode will be good.

Anyone still watching? The little bit of horror geek in me kept me tuning in. And, now they're finally getting into some overall plot, with the demon that kills the important women in Sam's life and the hitchhiker girl.
And, it did make me happy that the scarecrow wasn't another ghost, but a pagan diety. More of a supernatural variety. :p
JamBray
01-12-2006, 09:13 AM
I'm still watching, but thought Tuesday's episode was a little goofy and off base. At first the whole scarecrow thing was scary, but when Dean's tied up with the girl and then Sam comes to rescue them...and then it's morning? I was like "What the???" What happened to all the rest of the townspeople and the scarecrow? He just stopped chasing them? I also didn't like the pagans-sacrificing-people theme, because it just lends to those ideas that people have of us, which aren't true at all.
However, it is interesting that they've now thrown a couple of new elements into the show. I just hope they don't make these storylines too ridiculous.
bunnybeth
01-13-2006, 07:38 AM
Yes, there were many goofy parts to it. I was sure they were going to have the scarecrow be another stupid ghost though. Actually, DH said it was really similiar to the movie Jeepers Creepers. So, they lose points on the monster-of-the-day, but I'm starting to like the overall story that's being developed, so I'll forgive them... for now.
What happened to all the rest of the townspeople and the scarecrow? He just stopped chasing them?
After he grabs the aunt and uncle, he's appeased for another year. But, I really don't get why the rest of the townspeople left them alone. Especially the whole time they were searching for the tree and burning it.

I like this show and hope it lasts. All I have to say is that scarecrow scared the crap out of me. I was watching with the covers over my eyes waiting for DH to tell me when the scary part was over. :D I'm also surprised this show is on so early.
Does anyone else get confused when Sam (Jared whatever-his-last-name-is) calls his brother (Jensen Ackles) "Dean"? Since Jared's name was Dean on Gilmore Girls, it confused me for the first few episodes!

I'm wondering when they are going to bring in the father to meet with the sons. I'm guessing it will be the season finale, but if he doesn't show when Dean II was dying. . . I'm wondering if they ever will.
So excited to see "Darla" from Buffy and Angel on this episode. I love seeing that they are getting work. However, she looked a little old for him.
bunnybeth
01-19-2006, 07:36 AM
I hope they have a good reason why their father is keeping such distance from them. I mean, when they went back to their house, he was right there in town and avoiding them. I guess that will be explained when they all meet up again, maybe it will be at the season finale.
The WB seems to like recycling their actors. Not only this week's appearance of Julie Benz on Supernatural, but Dean and Not Dean are from other WB shows. And, the main character on One Tree Hill was from Gilmore Girls, etc.

How funny! I also think it is weird that they had to named Jensen's character "Dean" and then "Dean" from Gilmore Girls played by Jared is named Sam. The whole Dean thing gets a little confusing sometimes. And I agree that the "Bloody Mary" episode was kind of lame due to the fact that it reminded me soo much of "The Ring" & "The Grudge." I also thought that the "Scarecrow" episode reminded me a lot of "Jeepers Creepers" too. The show is okay, but they need to start writing some original stuff soon.

I thought last night's show was pretty good, and more creepy to me because it had to do with real people.
They really need to work on their endings though, because they're pretty lame. I mean how did Dean get away from the little girl, and they just locked her in a closet with no worries about her escaping? Yeah, needs a little work.

DH was on edge for this episode too because it was real people. He even said at the end it was one of the scarier ones. But, I'm a baby and I found the other monsters scarier.
I mean how did Dean get away from the little girl, and they just locked her in a closet with no worries about her escaping? Yeah, needs a little work.
I KNOW! Plus, what happened to the other brother? Did she lock him in a cage too? The should really work on the endings.
Interesting that there will finally be a reunion with the father on the next ep. I have quite the grudge against him with the times he did not show up for the sons (ex. when Dean was dying).
ETA - I think i have a little crush on Jensen (Dean).

Dean is Dean, Sam is Not Dean. ;)
I thought last night's episode was kinda boring. I wasn't scared at all. It felt like a poor rehashing of Texas Chainsaw with a bit of Hard Target (I believe that was the title of that Van Damne movie) thrown in. And, the ending was kinda sloppy. I guess I'm just more scared by the monsters and such as well! (Unless the monster is a possessed truck. That was just stupid.)
That said, next week's episode does look good. I like all the ones that have the overall plot with Not Dean (Sam) and his powers, their father, etc. Oh, and that reminds me. I did kind of like last week's episode. The telekinetic powers was not a surprise (called that pretty early on) but the kid's mom being killed the same way as their mom was a nice touch. Really tied the plot together and gave a new power to Not Dean.

My DH is a big SF fan, so I started watching this with him. I can usually figure out what's going to happen about half way through, but we still like it. The only thing I don't like about it is the cheap trick they use to creep things up: Weird lighting. They often darken the scenes, or create a sort of flashing effect when something "other worldly" is happening, or they'll use a very high contrast that bugs my eyes out a bit.
Otherwise, we're fans.

Hi everyone! Wow I just noticed this thread and am here to say, yes, I watch Supernatural. The WB gives me a full Thursday night of Eye Candy from Smallville right into Supernatural so who am I to complain? Speaking of, Jensen Ackles is way hotter as Dean than he ever was as wimpy Lana's bf on Smallville.
Anyhoo - last night's ep was pretty cool. I thought the dead chick was very creepy. I liked last week's ep better and also the one with the other "special" kid that could get people to do whatever he wanted. I'm sad their Dad died but am interested to see where they go with the chosen kids and the Demon.
