My DS slept in a tucker sling the first 8 months of his life. He figured out how to get out of it at about 6 months and we had to start safety pinning him in. We had to get new furniture when we discovered that he was picking at the brads and they eventually started coming out (revealing a nasty 1" spike). We recently discovered why our high chair has a 5 point harness system, but even when it is used, DS still escapes it. Thank goodness he hasn't figured out how to get out of his carseat!

His latest thing is that he has figured out how to open baby proofed cabinets. He unscrews the knobs! Forget using the internal clips, he figured those out months ago. What's a mama to do? I have to tighten all the knobs before I let him into a room!

Anyone else have funny stories of babies geting into/out of things?

My son was the same way. I baby proofed the whole house and he was able to figure out how to undo every single lock.

tinkerbelljenny lol! I'm betting he figured out how to get the platic plugs out of the sockets as well? So what did you do? Just increase the vigilance? If you have any suggestions I'm all ears! :)

We even call DD "Houdini baby." At 7 weeks old, DD was admitted to the hospital with an infection. They put her in this baby straight jacket kind of thing in order to put her IV in. She somehow managed to get her arm out of it. The nurse turned to me and said "we have never had a baby do that before!"

My uncle just took the cabinet doors off when he was little, so it could be worse.

My younger son who is now almost 3 was and still is a houdini. He figured out how to open or climb over every kind of safety gate. He quickly figured out how to open the cabinet doors. He also learned how to undo the harness part of his carseat. We have taught him not to touch the car seat harness until the car is completely stopped and turned off. He figured out how to open all the doors. I am now dealing with the fact that my computer is in a room he can get to easily and he is constantly turning it on and playing games on it. I have a few games on it for him to play, but he is always going on the computer. I have windows XP and decided to put a password on my account so he can't get in....well the little computer genius has figured that out too. He also figured out how to change the wallpaper and desktop on my computer!! Nothing has stopped him or slowed him down. The only solution is that he is only left alone to play for a few minutes at a time. Someone always has to keep checking on him. It is hard to get anything done, but I have no choice.

Yep. After the plastic plugs were a failure then I bought the really expensive kind that it really impossible for myself to remove and he figured out how to press the two sides and pull it out. I pretty much have given up. Here is a picture of him getting in the dryer, notice the lock on the side that he opened. This was a week after he broke into our wine cooler lock. I would post that picture but I don't want to shock any new moms. :)
