okay, I asked about this in Chit-Chat, but I thought I'd x-post here, too.... who do you tip? The packers, unpackers, or both? Do you do it on the spot or do you wait to see if they did a good job?
Also, do the movers unpack your boxes? My FIL said to make sure they unpack anything of value, like china.

My uncles own a family based moving company here in IL.
I would say a good tip would be at least $20 each mover. I would tip on the spot. I've never heard of a tip coming in after the fact.
Typically, movers do not unpack your boxes. If they do, it will cost you extra.
You said in your post that your FIL said for them to unpack anything of value..like china. Personally, I would leave that for me to unpack.
