I was on 50mg of clomid this cycle. I know I am crazy to poas at 8dpo, but it was calling loudly and it won. Obviously a BFN. I took another at 10DPO and a very faint BFP. They were both Answer from the same box. So I am curious, what are the chances of one giving me a false postive and not the other. And I know it isn't an evaporation line, because it came up right away. Also the other test didn't have an evap line either. I am not pg, had bloodwork done and af is on her way. But do you think this was a chem pg?

Hmmm. When was the blood work done?

I'm not an expert, but if you did get a BFP and then AF shows up, it sounds to me like that would be considered a chemical pregnancy. I wish I had a better answer for you, sorry!

The blood work was done yesterday. When I got my BFP.

Thank you!

Both on the same day. I don't think it could be a chem. pg, then, because the blood test would have picked up the same (or similar) amount of hCG the HPT did. I hate to say it, but it does sound like a faulty HPT.

Depends on what bloodwork you had done and how much the Dr or nurse tells you. Was it the quantitative test, the beta hCG? Or was it the qualitative, yes/no test?

The yes/no test would say negative even if you did actually have a low amount of hCG. Even with a beta, some Drs will tell you "negative" because it's 5 or below, when any number over 0 actually indicates that most likely there was an early miscarriage. If an Answer Early picked up an hCG level of say 5 or so, and the beta did as well, it would still indicate a chemical pregnancy even though the person reading the results just read them as "negative."

If you want an answer, you can call the Dr's office & ask which test they did, and if they did do a beta, what was the exact numerical result?

Thank you all for your responses. I can't remember exactly what test they did. I wish I did. But she said the result came up less then 2. So I guess that means it was just a faulty HPT?

Well that would be a beta, since they gave you a numerical answer. Like I explained, if it were the other test it would have been a "yes" or a "no."

Sounds like a faulty pg test then!

Thank you.

I guess I assumed that both of the tests would be faulty and not just one in the package.
