sarahncraig - you can always start a topic on it in parenting or pregnancy. It is an interesting thing, and I'd be intersted in hearing from other people who have done it. FWIW, a good friend of mine ate hers, she cooked it like liver and ate it. She's also a very "earthy" type of person and well....does that sort of thing so it wasn't really shocking coming from her! :p

I agree that this topic is somewhat derailing the thread. So, as suggested, I started a new one in pregnancy. I wanted to respond to a couple things (not out of offense or anything...it's all cool) but don't want to do it here. So maybe they'll get brought up in the new thread.

Ok....I heard on the radio this afternoon that TC has stated that if he and Katie split he is going to seek full custody of their child. Has anyone else heard this???? I thought for sure the thread would have moved a lot today if they had. Seriously....who has a baby and just a few days later says "If we are going to break up I'm going to seek full custody" What a weirdo!!!!

K...just did some research and it was Star Magazine that reported this so take it or leave it.

Huh. I am so not surprised about that. I actually assumed that would be that case. He is a nut-job with no sense for what is good for children. Why should I assume that he would think two parents are better than one! He may seek full custody but it doe not mean he will get full custody.

This sounds like a threat to Katie to not leave him or else. I could really see him doing this if in the situation.

I wouldn't be surprised, it seems he probably has full custody of his other two kids. They are rarely seen with Nicole anymore.

It was posted before that Tom & Nicole have joint custody. I think the reason it seems they're always with him is because he makes sure to trot them out in public, whereas Nicole is way more private and under the radar in all aspects of her life.

RE: that stupid ass comment about seeking custody of this child.....what kind of moron-loser would make a statement like that just after the birth of his child?!?! Is this a possiblity? Are they thinking of splitting up? I mean, wouldn't your focus and energy (at this time) be on your CHILD?!

Ok....I heard on the radio this afternoon that TC has stated that if he and Katie split he is going to seek full custody of their child. Has anyone else heard this????What does "I heard it on the radio" mean? It was said between songs on a music station? Two DJs bantering about a gossip piece?

I frankly don't think that anyone who is as concerned with his public persona as TC is would say anything like that outloud. Sounds totally made up to me.

I doubt he'd actually say that outloud (although I guess you never know, I could be glib). But I believe 100% this is what he would do. I wouldn't be surprised if he got another baby out of her then pushed her away and tried to hoard them like Michael Jackson.

During a DJs entertainment update. I found out that it was Star Magazine that published that "statement" so I agree....take it for what it's worth. Even if he didn't say it though....he totally is thinking it.

Edited to say that after going to Stars website it looks like it's the cover story for this weeks magazine.

Not sure if this has been posted as I just found it on CNN.com today:

JERUSALEM (Reuters) -- Suri, the name chosen by Hollywood couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes for their newborn daughter, is raising more than its share of interest in Israel.

It means "get out of here" in the local language, Hebrew.

News of the naming puzzled even those Israelis who thought they had seen it all after pop diva Madonna turned the ancient Jewish mystical tradition Kabbalah into a faith for the famous.

"I really don't know what they were thinking when they chose this name. It's a term that denotes expulsion, like 'Get out of here'," said Gideon Goldenberg, a linguistics professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. "It's pretty blunt."

Yaron London, a cultural commentator for Israel's Channel 10 television, had this rhetorical question for Suri's proud parents: "Why didn't you just go back to your ancestors' language, and call the kid 'Scram Cruise'?"

A Cruise family spokesman said last week that Suri has its origins in ancient Hebrew, as a variant on Sarah, the biblical matriarch. But that pronunciation is all but unknown in Israel.

There are exceptions. Jerusalem journalist Surie Ackerman said her name was a formalized version of a nickname given by fellow ultra-Orthodox Jews in her native United States.

"It sounds strange to me that a non-Jewish, Scientology baby should be called Suri," Ackerman said, referring to the alternative church which counts Cruise among its devotees.

"But there are plenty of strange names in the world."

And there are plenty of alternative meanings for Suri.

It's also a Nubian tribe, the word for "rose" in Persian, "sun" in Sanskrit and a term for a form of Alpaca's wool.

Geez I think they need to give this whole name meaning thing a break now. It is past ridiculious when people start trying to find bad meanings of a name for a child  C'mon it's a newborn baby for crying out loud. Besides that Suri is unique. Sure it is not a common name but that is what makes the name beautiful. At least they did not name the baby klingon or yoda :p

My mission impossible was to be here today," the 43-year-old actor told reporters. "I didn't want to come. My daughter was just born and I didn't want to leave her and her mother."

This Tom Cruise story is too good to be true

Tom Cruise used to hitchhike with prostitutes. The now multi-millionaire actor used to hitch rides with the men picking up sex workers outside New York's Holland Tunnel when he was a struggling actor.

Cruise - who celebrated the birth of his first child with fiancée Katie Holmes last week - revealed to Sunday Times newspaper: "There were prostitutes, who used to be around the tunnel, who knew me. They'd see me and they'd go, 'Look, I'll pick up a john and you jump in'. So I'd ride through the tunnel to New Jersey.

"The driver's a little like, 'What's this guy doing in the back seat?' But he saw I'm just this 18-year-old kid. I didn't look dangerous.

"And they didn't do anything sexual in front of me. I'd get out in New Jersey and say, 'Thank you very much'. Then I'd hitchhike home."

Tom Cruise is one giddy dad. The MI:3 star is busy on his world tour and along with Katie Holmes has decided to name Kanye West and Jamie Foxx uncles to baby Suri.

The 3am girls dish:

The pint-sized Scientologist could hardly hide his glee when he told our Caroline at the London premiere of Mission: Impossible 3 who his daughter's extended family would be.

The 43-year-old gushed: "Jamie Foxx is going to be uncle. I asked him today and he's accepted. He's an amazing guy."

And his hunky Collateral co-star Foxxy is not the only megastar who will add some bling to the family chain as Tom trumpeted: "And when I get back to the States I'm gonna ask Kanye West."

Wow i guess in scientology you name your own relatives...that must explain how he can call himself Suri's "Daddy"

Shields Amused by Giving Birth on Same Day As Cruise & Holmes

Actress Brooke Shields is amused by the fact she gave birth to daughter Grier the same day Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' daughter Suri was born, claiming "the irony is perfect." The stars engaged in a public battle of words last year, after the Mission: Impossible star criticized the actress for taking anti-depressants after the birth of her first child Rowan. She explains, "You know, the irony is perfect. The world works in an interesting way, but we (were) both pretty busy that day." The 40-year-old gave birth to her second child with TV producer-husband Chris Henchy on April 18, reportedly in the same Los Angeles hospital as Holmes. She adds, "Yeah, rumor has it. Again, I was pretty distracted." When asked if she had any run-ins with Cruise at the hospital she says, "No. God, no." The Suddenly Susan star chose to take the high road when discussing Cruise adding, "It's a gift having kids, you know, so it's a beautiful thing rather than anything else."

MEXICO CITY - Tom Cruise whipped off his sunglasses with flair and flashed a winning smile as he greeted a hotel ballroom packed with journalists in Mexico’s capital.

His mission: to promote his new film, “Mission: Impossible III,” which opens in theaters Friday.

“We really wanted a story that’s going to leave the audience feeling emboldened and empowered when they leave the theater,” the 43-year-old actor said Monday.

His fiancee, 27-year-old Katie Holmes, gave birth last month in Los Angeles to the couple’s first child, a daughter named Suri.

“The hours go by so quickly as I just stare at her,” Cruise said of spending time with his newborn.

When a reporter asked about a widely circulated comment Cruise made in an interview with GQ magazine about eating his child’s placenta, Cruise laughed and said, “That’s ridiculous.”

A look at Tom Cruise's career and relationships.

He later said he doesn’t pay attention to media reports that criticize his personal life.

When he was done fielding questions, Cruise came down from the stage and mingled with journalists. At one point he produced a small digital camera and snapped some pictures of those jockeying for position to photograph him.

Cruise starred in 1996’s “Mission: Impossible,” directed by Brian De Palma, and 2000’s “Mission: Impossible II,” directed by John Woo.

This latest installment was directed by J.J. Abrams, creator of the TV series “Lost” and “Alias.”

“He’s a sensational filmmaker. I wanted a J.J. Abrams’ ‘Mission: Impossible,”’ Cruise said.

Did anyone see TC on Letterman last night? He is such a dorkwad. He talked about the same things he talks about everywhere--how much hair the baby has, and their system of "b and b," where Katie breastfeeds and he does the burping. Which is a crock, b/c Suri must be about ready to explode if she's been waiting on Papa Cruise to get home and burp her.

Anyway, he also said that he taught Connor and Isabella how to ride motorcycles, and that they have been riding since they were 2. I assumed he meant with him on the bike, but then he said something about standing by and watching them ride around and how fun it was. Did anyone else hear that, b/c I'm not sure that even a jackass like him is that stupid....I'm hoping that I misunderstood him.

He did his toothy, laugh-at-everything-Dave-says-even-if-it's-not-a-joke, thing.

He is just so full of crap. I saw him on Regis and Kelly and i didn't believe a word he said about the baby, Kate or well anything.

He did this whole solemn profound gratitude thanks to the audience for the welcome that "everyone" has guven Suri.

Did he adopt the other children as babies?? He just comes across like this whole new world has begun for him and its kind of sad considering he has two other children.

Yes he and Nicole adopted Isabella & Connor when they were babies. Peple Mag had a pic of them as a family. That's why I don't know why he's excited. He's had 2 kids. Been there, done that. I think the whole thing is fake (look at me, I'm heterosexual!?! All my parts work! :p ).

I also think Nicole was also the caregiver when the kids were younger. I think Tommy Boy hasn't grown up so now his kids (who are older) are his new BFF. :p The last time Nicole was w/ any of her kids publicly was when she won her Oscar. Isabella was sitting behind her and they panned to her when she talked about her kids. I wonder if Tommy took the kids away?

Isabella & Connor were babies when they were adopted. I can see being excited about any new child, but his excitement totally overshadows his public reaction to either of his previous children and smacks of a campaign to alter his public image or indicates he sees a biological child as more exciting than adopted children. Either way, very assholy.

Ali

It is my understanding (I could be wrong) that adoption arrangments were made before the other two children were born and that they were present for the births of their other children. I KNOW that I have seen baby photos of Tom and/or Nicole holding their adopted children. Tom is just an idiot.

Also, Mimi Rogers, his first wife, introduced him to Scientology and he, in turn, introduced Scientology to Nicole. So that is not a new aspect either.

The M:i:III publicity onslaught will quickly fade after this weekend's opening, but as the above poster (whipped up by a talented, bored reader) reminds us, we still have the run-up to a sacrifice wedding to look forward to. Unless, of course, Katie Holmes chews through both of her shackled ankles while Cruise is distracted with movie promotion and somehow teeters her way to freedom before the ceremony.

Did they adopt Isabella & Connor bc he couldn't havae kids? Or was it vice versa? Or did she just not want to be pregnant? Bc I swear I heard that he couldn't have kids but yet he was able to knock up Kate within the first few months....

I seem to remember that right at the time of their divorce, Nicole had a miscarriage. Tom was a basatrad b/c he divorced her mere days from the time frame that the law automatically declared their pre-nup invalid. (My aunt can rant about this for days, she hated him b/c of this.) Then she miraculously was pregnant within days of this divorce announcement, and miscarried b/c of all the stress . . .

The aunt crowed b/c she thought this was a direct slap to his masculinity . . . he divorces the woman AS she is pregnant with his child . . .

But I may be wrong :-)

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise have agreed on a prenuptial deal worth over £23 million.

The couple have agreed that in the event of the marriage breaking up Holmes will receive £23 million in total from the Mission: Impossible star's £250 million fortune.

There is reportedly already a £8 million fund set up to ensure that Holmes and baby Suri are comfortable, and Katie would receive the other £14 million in the event of a divorce.

The subject of the prenuptial agreement has been a heated one between Cruise and Holmes's father, a divorce lawyer. Hopefully though, tensions have lessened between the Scientologist and Katie's strictly Catholic family since the number has been agreed.

"Katie's family have always been very sceptical about this romance," a source told The Daily Mail.

"They were shocked that Katie got pregnant so quickly and did not like the way she had turned her back on Catholicism for Scientology.

"But now this deal has been sorted out they are at least relieved that Katie and her baby will be financially secure for life, even if she doesn't marry Tom.

"Tom has also made clear to Katie's parents that he was happy to give her a chunk of his money because he feels sincere in his love for her. His attitude showed that he does love their daughter - even if they still have issues about the way she has changed since meeting him.'

Tom Cruise also gave ex-wife Nicole Kidman a substantial portion of his millions when they divorced though the exact number was never revealed.

Cruise Signs Holmes Up For The Gym

May 3, 2006 8:50 a.m. EST

Ayinde O. Chase - All Headline News Staff Writer

London, England (AHN) - Getting back into shape after giving birth is Hollywood trend, and soon to be Mrs. Tom Cruise is no exception.

After giving birth to daughter Suri two weeks ago, Katie Holmes, 27, is already planning her gym comeback, with Tom Cruise’s help of course.

Reportedly, Cruise has signed her up to a company called Buff Brides, in preparation for their wedding later this year.

Buff Brides' Sue Fleming told the Daily Mirror, “Katie can and will do it... She has great motivation. She loves her fiancé and was proud that Tom oversaw this program."

She continues, “He told her he wanted her to be the most beautiful bride ever. She was in tears when he said that.”

Brad Kaufman, who heads up much of the fitness programs, adds, “The wedding is on the fast track. We've been told to get Katie into amazing shape. It's all systems go."

Not surprising Katie's dad, Martin, is concerned. The father of the bride has been quoted as not being happy with Cruise’s influence and antics. He tells Reveal magazine: “My daughter needs rest, relaxation and recuperation. Katie is already doing exercises to build up her back and shoulders and I simply can't go along with what's happening.”

This is the craziest thing. I too, was under the impression that Nicole and Tom were either infertile...and the miscarriage...what was up with that? I guess Nicole could have cheated on Tom and became PG with another man's baby, and perhaps that is why they were divorced. However, if Tom is the infertile one...how on earth did KH get pg?

After hearing Chris Klein's mysogynistic comments (much earlier in this thread), I'm really thinking Katie is used to being a doormat and doesn't realize how effed up their relationship is. Add to that her supposed girlhood crush on TC and his efforts to immerse her in Scientology while cutting off her friends and family, and I'm not surprised she's so pathetic and spineless. Disturbed, yes, but not surprised.

From the Associated Press today:

The California Assembly has voted to restrict the use of ultrasound machines for personal use, approving a bill that would allow them to be sold only to licensed professionals.

Democratic Assemblyman Ted Lieu introduced the bill after "Mission: Impossible III" star Tom Cruise bought an ultrasound machine to see images of his unborn child. The actor's fiancee, Katie Holmes, gave birth to the couple's daughter, Suri, last month in Los Angeles.

Doctors and technologists typically receive years of training to perform ultrasound exams, which help obstetricians check a baby's health.

Cruise was criticized by doctors who said improperly using the devices can harm a fetus.

Lieu said his bill was intended to prohibit copycats from using the devices at home. An ultrasound machine listed on the online auction site eBay was selling for $5,500 Wednesday.

"What we don't want is someone who unintentionally damages the fetus," Lieu said Thursday on the Assembly floor.

The chamber voted 55-7 to pass the bill and send it to the Senate.

The bill prohibits a manufacturer or person from selling, leasing or distributing an ultrasound machine to any person other than a licensed practitioner.

Some Republican lawmakers questioned whether the bill would prohibit the use of ultrasound devices by private companies that provide keepsake photos for parents-to-be.

Lieu said it would not, as long as the person operating the machine was licensed under a certain section of the state's Business and Professions Code.

Laboratory tests have shown that certain diagnostic levels can affect human tissue, according to the Food and Drug Administration. The agency has determined that keepsake fetal videos and personal snapshots are an unapproved use of a medical device.

Nothing against Aberdeen, but why Aberdeen of all places in Washington? Not exactly a hotbed of activity....

I heard on the radio the other day that a man from Aberdeen won a trivia contest about Tom Cruise so he gets a special screening of MI 3 with Tom Cruise.

Hey that is cool....as much as I find him revolting and have no desire to see this movie, I am sure that this guy is THRILLED!
I will give TC that, for the folks out there that are still into him, he does show up for them. Thank God someone wants him!:o

Just an FYI if anyone is interested. This Sunday, 'Dateline' is having a special on Tom Cruise. The comercial said something like "Do we really know the real Tom Cruise?" Not sure what time it's on though.

Oh, I don't know . . .

I get more the "I feel so awkward and big as a tank, and why must I get my picture taken with this psychopath for publication in multiple venues when I really would be better off in sweats b/c hello, am big as a tank and do not particularly want to have my big days captured in world-wide photos" feeling from these pictures.

The "my arse is bigger than the car, and I will have to waddle down the red carpet" variety.

Of course, the waddle is also due to the fact that she has to bend down to avoid towering over him, but whatever. I'm not saying this in mean way . . . simply, hello, I manage to feel this way when simply pms'ing . . . can't imagine what she must feel about her burgeoning body now. Especially with "Buff Brides" being enforced, good lord.

The bangs need to go. What's with bangs these days? I fought a long hard battle to get rid of mine way back in 8th grade or so, and now they want us to have no eyes again. . . ugh. But no, I just feel . . . sorry for her. I used to really like her in the indie/Dawson's Creek days (well, not so much DC) b/c she seemed to have some sort of spark.

Now she just waddles . . .and hangs. And stares adoringly with possessed alien eyes. Sigh. Oh KatIE, Where Art Thou?

(*snickers* ok, enough with the drama.)

Nicole Kidman: Still Loves Tom Cruise
Monday May 8 2:54 PM ET

Nicole Kidman says her divorce from Tom Cruise was a "major shock" and, she still loves him.

"That was a major shock," the 38-year-old actress says in an interview in the June issue of Ladies' Home Journal, on newsstands Tuesday.

"He was huge; still is. To me, he was just Tom, but to everybody else, he is huge. But he was lovely to me. And I loved him. I still love him," she tells the magazine.

Cruise filed for divorce in February 2001 after 10 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce was finalized later that year.

"I always knew the rug was going to be taken out from underneath me at some stage," Kidman says. "I didn't think it was going to happen in the way it happened. I had seen my mother battle breast cancer, so I had a fear of my health being jeopardized that was really where I was thinking mine would come.

"I knew I was going to get hit with something. But I think a divorce, and the demise of what your family is, is a little death in itself."

Cruise and Kidman adopted two children, Isabella, now 13, and Connor, now 11.

"I feel enormous love for whoever my children's birth parents are," Kidman says. "And if my children choose to go find them at some stage, I can't wait. Because it's the weirdest thing I actually feel (they're) very connected to us as a big, strange family, and whether they choose to search for them or not, who knows."

The 43-year-old actor's latest movie, "Mission: Impossible III," debuted with $48.025 million this weekend, a solid opening yet well below industry expectations and almost $10 million lower than the franchise's previous installment, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Katie Holmes, Cruise's 27-year-old fiancee, gave birth to the couple's first child, a daughter, Suri, last month.

Kidman, who stars in the upcoming "Fur," about photographer Diane Arbus, is reportedly dating country singer Keith Urban, 38.

"I'm pretty careful about who I share my life with," she says. "I surround myself with truthful, kind people, most of whom are not in the business. It's the life I want to have when I'm an old woman with long, gray hair."

From MSN (http://entertainment.msn.com/movies/hotgossip5):

The schadenfreude is flowing freely now that "Mission: Impossible III" failed to break the box-office bank, but before Tom Cruise slinks out of the spotlight to spend some quality E-meter time figuring out what went wrong (imagined self-recrimination scenario: "I gushed about Kate and the baby! I talked dirty diapers! I hopped on cars! I glad-handed thousands of fans! And I didn't even call Matt Lauer glib this time! What more could I do?"), here's a rundown of the latest doings in the topsy-turvy world of TomKat ...

Looks like the wait for snaps of Suri, whose dark hair and blue eyes have been kept under wraps since she silently made her debut on April 18, will soon be over. OK! magazine touts that it will have "stunning portraits of the delighted parents with their newborn" in this week's issue (per E!).

And speaking of the "delighted parents," they followed up their well-worn PDA-packed red carpet routine at Thursday's Los Angeles premiere of "M:I III," where Cruise reportedly gave three lucky fans $25,000 apiece, with a bit of paparazzi-captured hand-holding during an outing the following day.

Alas, it wasn't only the digit touching that was documented for posterity. Shutterbugs also snapped the exhausted-looking Holmes, clad in a loose-fitting camisole, accidentally (we're assuming) exposing her nursing bra. The most unfortunate part: The lactation-aiding lingerie seems to have come inadvertently (we're assuming) unsnapped.

Katie isn't alone in facing wardrobe scrutiny. The New York Daily News devotes considerable space to solving the mystery of why Tom was supposedly seeing "eye to eye" with his taller, heel-wearing fiancée at the Los Angeles premiere, "when he should have been staring at her chin."

While the paper speculates Cruise was heightening (to use the "Seinfeld" parlance) with the help of lifts in his shoes, his rep dismisses the vertical boosting chatter, insisting, "He had normal shoes on." (Our assessment, after an intense 30 seconds of photo research: Katie still has several inches on him.)

Meanwhile, is the Church of Scientology going thrifty when it comes to Suri? So claims the New York Post, which says a public relations worker from the church's expansive compound in Hemet, Calif., recently popped into a nearby Wal-Mart and loaded up on all sorts of reasonably priced baby items, including blankets, bottles, pacifiers and toys. The staffer allegedly hinted to a witness they were for the littlest L. Ron Hubbard devotee, but clammed up when the paper later inquired about the shopping spree.

And Cruise apparently shares more than just an allegiance to an unorthodox religion with Madonna. Like the Kabbalah-boosting pop icon, Tom keeps his kids, Isabella, 13, and Connor, 11, away from the boob tube.

"No television or computer games are allowed," he tells Good Housekeeping of his rules, but he says music, books and some movies get the thumbs-up. No word on whether those flicks are the ones in which he stars.

Finally, in a report we urge you to take with a Xenu-sized boulder of salt, the London Daily Mail claims that Cruise and Holmes have finally hammered out a prenup, said to be worth in the swanky neighborhood of $40 million.

According to the paper, a $15 million trust has already been set up for Katie and Suri, "regardless of whether the couple marry or not." If they do get hitched and later go belly-up, Katie will receive another $26 million.

The foot-dragging A-lister has been enthusing about taking Katie as the third Mrs. Cruise for months, recently telling the London Mirror, "I love her and I can't wait to get married to her. I can't wait to look at her and think she's all mine."

Ok, who's grossed out by that last statement? Those Scientologists are sure cheap w/ the presents. If they sucked all those people (rich and famous) out of their hard earned bucks, the least they can do is shop at some place more upscale than Walmart. Is the head of scientology being run by Britney Spears' (Ms $49 highchair from Toys R Us) relatives?

Lizard
05-09-2006, 09:23 AM

Katie Holmes topless shots cut (http://www.azcentral.com/ent/celeb/articles/0508holmes.html)

BANG Showbiz
May. 8, 2006 08:10 AM

Tom Cruise has ordered topless scenes of his fiancee Katie Holmes to be cut from her latest film.

The 'Mission: Impossible III' actor insists the actress' sexy stripping scenes in 'Thank You For Not Smoking' go against his strict Scientology beliefs, which instruct followers to act with decency and integrity.

A source said: "Tom wasn't too pleased when he found out about Katie.

"She flashed quite a lot of flesh and he didn't think it was appropriate because of their Scientology beliefs.

"Katie was happy to go along with it."

The brunette's raunchy sex scene with Aaron Eckhart was included in the first screening on the film at the Toronto Film Festival in Canada last year, however, it had been mysteriously deleted when the film was screened at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah this year.

At the festival, director Jason Reitman quipped that the scene wasn't included because of a "technical glitch", before adding, "If you want to see a sex scene with Katie Holmes, rent 'The Gift'."

Katie, who gave birth to the couple's first baby, Suri, two weeks ago, appeared topless in the 2000 movie.

I didn't click on the link, but I bet that photo is from the movie The Gift. When a local woman (Katie Holmes) disappears and the police can't seem to find any leads, her father (Chelcie Ross) turns to a poor young woman (Cate Blanchett) with psychic powers. Slowly she starts having visions of the woman chained and in a pond. Her visions lead to the body and the arrest of an abusive husband (Keanu Reeves), but did he really do it? Greg Kinnear is the missing woman's fiancee, Hilary Swank plays Reeve's abused wife, and Gary Cole is a sleazy attorney with ties to the missing woman.

Creepy Tom came to town... luckily, I live far from Aberdeen, WA, but this last paragraph in the news caught my eye:

http://www.komonews.com/stories/43347.htm

Aberdeen radio stations KSWW-FM and KJET-FM had planned an Oprah-style couch-jumping contest in their parking lot Tuesday, but dropped the idea after they said Paramount asked them not to.

"They felt it reflected poorly on Tom's image," said Tom Schlaht of Selmer's Home Furnishings, which had provided a sofa for the contest.

I'm watching Tom on Ellen right now. So far he has eluded the question of what he is getting Katie for Mother's Day by giving Ellen's mother a bike and then giving the rest of the audience (full of single mothers) roses.

Then she asked him to choose from a bunch of baby pictures the one that looked most like Suri. He picked one and said that Suri had more hair so she gave him a marker and he went crazy adding hair to the baby picture and then outlined the lips to make them look more like Kate's.

Forget whatever it was Tom Cruise told Diane Sawyer about how his relationship with Katie Holmes' parents was all sunshine and roses. Martin and Kathleen Holmes didn't even lay eyes on their new baby granddaughter Suri until the day of the "Mission: Impossible III" premiere in LA on May 4. Sur was born April 17. That's two and a half weeks, people. Katie's parents were specifically not invited to meet the baby until Tom got back home from his world-wide promotional tours for the movie. But Tom's mom was there for the delivery. So were Tom's sisters. But Mr. and Mrs. Holmes were vacationing in Florida when they got the call that their first grandchild was already here. A source says they were heartbroken, but they're scared to speak out because they're afraid they'll be cut off even more from Katie and Suri.

Sorry-- it's Aberdeen, Washington. There's an article on the last page about how TomKat went up there to meet some contest winner. I should have quoted it. :)

Wow.... I can't even imagine being THAT brainwashed into not allowing my parents to see their granddaughter.... WTF is wrong with him?

I heard on the local news the other day that Tom and Katie (sorry, I can't call her Kate) were made honorary citizens of Aberdeen. Exciting, huh?

You know, there really was not as much hype as I would have thought with them coming to town. I read that were about 1000 people on the red carpet. I would have thought that more would have made the trek to Aberdeen to see them. Back in the old days of Tom Cruise, I'm sure that more would have shown up!

Tom needs to stop wearing those tight shirts.

I wonder if ANYONE will ever see "the baby". I wonder if they *bought* one yet that was cute enough for them to do a photshoot with Vanity Fair or People magazine yet LOL. I'm sure the first time anyone sees the baby it will be a whole magazine photoshoot. The scary part is that we haven't even seen the baby leave the house AT ALL yet. Not even covered in an infant carrier or anything. I know they want their privacy, but you would THINK they would want the rumors of the pregnancy being fake put to rest.

Lame-o's.

JMHO, but I think the non-baby sighting is just another example of Tom's warped sense of ego: this is the Tom show, all Tom, all the time. A baby would most certainly take away some of his spotlight, no?

You know, I was thinking about this earlier today when I was walking past a magazine stand. The reason we probably haven't seen the baby yet is because there is NO baby! And I remember reading that they bought a bunch of baby stuff at Wal-Mart and people commented on how cheap that was. Well, if they didn't have an actual baby, why would they spend lots of money on things they don't need.
Anywho, just adding my 2 cents to the conspiracy theory. :)

There's most likely a baby... you don't get stretch marks like these unless you've been pregnant:

Is it a decoy Kat(i)e? She is wearing shades...

Katie is also wearing flats (she usually wears quite a bit of heel), so that along with the photo's angle and Tom having a heeled shoe or boot (or lifts) might do it.

sounds like Katie had something to do with it. ;)

Tom Cruise has extended an olive branch to Brooke Shields after publicly blasting his Endless Love co-star for using medication for postpartum depression after the birth of her first daughter, Rowan, in 2003, sources say.

Tom, 43 — an ardent follower of Scientology, which opposes the use of antidepressants — criticized Brooke, 40, last year in an interview with Matt Lauer on NBC's Today show.

But after the birth of Brooke's second child, Grier, on April 18 — on the very day Tom's fiancée, Katie Holmes, 27, gave birth to Suri — Tom sent an enormous bouquet of flowers to Brooke, with a note congratulating her on the birth of Grier and wishing Brooke and her family well, sources say.

"Tom is ready to bury the hatchet," a source says. "Katie and Brooke gave birth on the same day, and that bond really touched Tom."

Katie also urged Tom to make amends to Brooke because of the emotional experience she had after Suri's birth. "Katie explained to Tom what a difficult transition it is going from pregnancy to motherhood. She told Tom that he should reconsider what he said about Brooke," a source says.

Brooke's publicist, Cheryl Maisel, confirms the story, telling Star: "Tom and Katie sent congratulatory flowers to Brooke Shields on the birth of her baby."

I had heard (on Extra or one of those shows) that Brook said she never recieved any flowers from Cruise.

Edited to say that I should finish the story before I type....maybe the flowers came late ;)

As for the stretch marks, I have marks like that from my freaking pants when I'm bending over all the time (like doing yardwork). So maybe they are from gardening? LOL

Anyway, I'm surprised that Suri hasn't been posted all over the papers/mags. All the other babies born in that timeframe (Barron, Grier) have been shown in People and other mags. But no Suri. While I agree that Tom is an attention loving ass, I'd think that presenting his DD for pictures would be the ultimate attention grabber.

From MSN (http://entertainment.msn.com/movies/hotgossip?GT1=7701):

Is Katie Holmes in need of a heaping, helping dose of vitamins? Turns out it took just a month for the inevitable stories to appear speculating whether the silently birthing baby mama of Tom "Psychiatry is a Pseudoscience" Cruise is feeling a little down in the dumps.

First up is the London Sun, which recently claimed that the publicly perma-grinning mom of the still under-wraps Suri is "constantly in tears" and "seems emotional and very tired," touching off "fears she has the baby blues."

"Katie told pals it's natural for new moms to experience strong emotions," a "friend" is quoted as telling the tab.

In Touch also wonders whether the "increasingly lonely" Holmes has the "baby blues," maintaining in its latest issue that since Suri's arrival on April 18, she's been "feeling unhappy with her body and unsettled in her new life."

"Katie keeps it together in front of Tom, but when he's gone, she loses it," a source alleges to the mag.

Of course, postpartum rumblings were pretty much a given from the moment Katie showed off what would become the most scrutinized belly in Hollywood history. Cruise, as we all remember (and would desperately like to forget), railed against Brooke Shields for using antidepressants following the birth of her daughter Rowan in 2003.

"When you talk about postpartum, you can take people today, women, and what you do is you use vitamins," the L. Ron Hubbard-loving star explained to Billy Bush one year ago this week. "There is a hormonal thing that is going on, scientifically, you can prove that. But when you talk about emotional, chemical imbalances in people, there is no science behind that. You can use vitamins to help a woman through those things."

But before you wallow in the warm-fuzzy embrace of schadenfreude -- or form a conspiracy theory that the nursing bra-flashing semi-retired starlet will be miraculously cured by some Scientology-recommended Flintstone chewables, keep in mind that Cruise's hard-working spokesman says the "baby blues" talk is so much hooey.

"Those reports are not true," his rep insists to MSN Entertainment. "Ms. Holmes is doing wonderfully."

The same can be said for Shields, who was all smiles on Saturday as she stepped out for lunch at the Ivy in Santa Monica, Calif., with daughter Grier, who was reportedly born on the same day and just down the hall from where Suri made her debut.

According to Star, Cruise is now trying to make peace with his Paxil-popping nemesis, and as a first step sent an "enormous" bouquet of flowers and a congratulatory missive after Grier's birth (Brooke's rep confirms the fragrant delivery).

"Tom is ready to bury the hatchet," an insider tells the tab. "Katie and Brooke gave birth on the same day, and that bond really touched Tom."

Mike Wallace, however, shouldn't expect any floral arrangements from Cruise in the near future. In a sit-down this week with "Access Hollywood," the venerable "60 Minutes" newsman took the tireless proselytizer to task for his stance against head-shrinking.

"Tom simply does not know what he's talking about," says Wallace, who recently revealed his longtime battle against depression. "Scientology is a different thing, and God bless him. But he doesn't know his tail from third base about depression, simple as that."

That was hilarious! Well said Mike Wallace! :D
