Seeing What Happens
08-29-2005, 07:41 AM
WHO ARE WE ???
A group of CC ladies who are Trying To Concieve(TTC) without temping(taking your temperature before rising out of bed every morning), and "charting" these temperatures on a grid. This group of ladies are just "Seeing What Happens". We do keep track of what Cycle Day(CD)we are on and perhaps note any changes in our body. We would love to hear about what you are going through. We understand the trials, tribulations and many doctor appointments that you are facing on this journey into parenthood. No question is too "stupid", asked too often, nor is any "vent" that you may have unnecessary.

This thread may move quickly at times, but don't be afraid to jump in on the last page. You don't have to read through the entire thread before you join us. The first few posts on page one are some introductory info to help everyone out as well as provide many useful links to other sites with in depth information on certain topics. A link to the new thread is always posted at the end of the current thread to help everyone find their way over to the most recent "Seeing What happens" thread. This thread starts at the beginning of each new month.

WANNA JOIN US ?

Just introduce yourself and post your statistics so we can get to know you a little better and add you to the list of "Our Family " members which is shown in the second post on the first page. Please post these intro stats in red so that you won't be missed. Wanna lurk and ask questions? Just post away....

I promise to be more active in this thread :). I'm on CD11 and my CM is just starting to ramp up. DH came home last Fri and we don't know when he'll be called back, so I'm praying for an early O. Of course, all the stress of not knowing will probably delay it .

First of all…. Got to LOVE a new fresh start! As I mentioned last month I needed to take some time off CC to avoid driving myself crazy… did it work? Hmm not sure, considering I checked on your girls every single day (and I am not kidding!), the good news is that I didn’t post, so I kind of concentrated more on YOUR girls' cycles than my own. So congrats to all the new graduates and welcome to the newbies!.
Lots going on this month and I don’t know where to start:
- DH seems more excited about becoming a father that I had ever thought possible, he keeps asking me when is my O time (I didn’t even know he knew what that was!), also on the last month he has made comments like “should we try and make our baby tonight?”, definitely a HUGE improvement from where we started. So my first update is that I think DH is as ready as I am to go into this whole parenting thing, which needless to say feels REALLY nice.
- Work- well I have been working for the same company for 6 years, there have been lots of up and downs and on the last three years they have rift at least 7000 people  … a month a go was announced that the building where I work from was closing, and everybody who worked for that specific “center” had sixty days to pick up their belongings :( . Luckily me and DH (we both work for the same company) weren’t affected and they were moving us to a different building across the street. I have been unpleased on how things have been running at work since I got my promotion last year, but I kept holding on jumping ships because a- it was just easier, b- I have accumulated good benefits and c- it would be nice to have 3 months paid for maternity leave when the time came. A week after they announced the closing I got a call from a company (a friend of mine works there and had given them my resume) and went to an interview just to See What Happened (;)), well I GOT THE JOB! I start on Tuesday and things have been just crazy around here.
DH and I thought about it very thoroughly because all of the above reasons, I could just wait and get a package whenever my time to leave was. But truth told I hate my current job, I am bored to tears and I spend 90% of the time online, reading about stupid stuff (CC NOT being one of the stupid stuff, of course!). Anyhoo, the pay is a little lower (not much difference but it is lower), but is what I have always wanted to do. So we decided to take it, a million things go through my mind, among those the fact that I went from having 3 months paid for (100% old salary), to a 6 week maternity leave (60% new salary), but it just feels right.. you know??? and we never know when is going to be our month, I can't just seat and wait until it happens, also after seeing what everyone is going through here to find a job, and how devastating is knowing you need one in a month, a week, five days... I dont know I could handle that, or that I want to for that matter. Career wise is a great opportunity, and money wise we are not too worried, thank God we are good with DH’s salary by itself.
- That takes me to the next update… September … this month is a really busy month, we are leaving tonight to celebrate our first year anniversary (don’t want to take any time off for our actual anniversary weekend), next weekend is DH’s husband (9-11) and the following is the big ONE (9-19), so will it be this month that we will get lucky?? or unlucky considering the whole maternity thingy. I am even scare to type this….BUT I feel very optimistic. I am pretty sure I O’ed last weekend, had the O cramps, which I didn’t have since my first cycle off the pill. I also started drinking green tea this cycle, I was having difficulties checking CM, for whatever reason I never got the real EWCM, or I couldn’t’ see it. Well it worked the O pains came with lots of EWCM followed by creamier and then drier CM. DH and I made sure we cover our basis on the BDing arena :D … now , if I O’ed after CD12 I am out of luck this month again :). Only time will tell.

Continued on next post...

- My mom is planning on coming next May for my sister’s graduation (my whole family leaves overseas but my sister and I), needless to say it would be perfect timing.
On the other hand (this is pathetic me looking for excuses in case this is not our month), my sister and mom were both born in May and they have very, and I mean VERY strong characters (they are Taurus), so if we don’t get lucky this month at least I can always hope for an easier baby ( hmm this excuse is already NOT working, I still want to get pg this month :D).

I am currently CD16 (I think 4DPO), not planning on testing until AF is late, I only tested the first month and the BFN was devastating, so I rather see the witches face :). That puts me into the week after next (she should show up for DH’s bday 9-11), but since my longest cycle (first off BCP) was CD30 I am going to wait until then to test, if she doesn't show before, which is exactly two weeks from today .

Until then I don’t know how much access to CC I am going to have, I will probably not get my laptop until Wednesday, but honestly I don’t usually get online after work hours, so I will probably not post until AF shows or I get my BFP (dont worry I will give you an update either way ;)), and I will definitely check on everybody (reading is a lot less time consuming than typing).
Sorry for the rambling, but hey I am only posting once a month so I have to make it worth ;.

Lets get some BFPs girls!!!

We just started TTC #2 and I have to say I am very nervous! About being pg again...about having a newborn again...about how DD will react. But we know we want 2 and this seems like the right time to start, so here we are!

I am not sure what CD I am on b/c we just decided to TTC recently and I was bad about paying attention...probably around CD 12 or so though.

Hey new girls! Hopefully your stay here will be short!

I'm so confused on this cycle...I'm cd16 and can't really tell if I've O'ed yet. Temps are kind of odd, too. We are going on vacation in a week and it will be a great time to just rest and relax! Then I leave in October for Belize...so maybe this just isn't our time to get pregnant...I'll keep everyone posted on what happens and I'm looking forward to hearing what is going on with you gals during this journey we are all on together!

CD 19 and waiting to O. Should be any day now according to what the OPK's are telling me. At least I changed a few things in FF and it changed from CD 15 O to not O yet. We are covering our bases just in case through at least early next week.

You said you tested last weekend and then again today. ..what dpo were the tests done on?

I'm on CD 31, I can feel AF but she hasn't started yet (everytime I type that she comes in like a 1/2 hour.. ugh!) I'm refusing to test until sunday if she isn't here.. no use in wasting the money.

Have a great weekend everyone! Happy BD'ing :)

Thanks Shortcake!! Good luck to you! Hope #2 comes along soon! :)

Dan's*Girl, thanks!! I’m not sure about the DPO… I thought I was going to O around CD14-15 (based on CM and cycle length from previous cycles), but then it seemed like I was delayed, so we kept BD’ing and I started charting mid-cycle. Guessing from my incomplete chart, I think I’m at 12DPO today… (??) Anyway good luck to you! Crossing my fingers you get some good news on Sunday! :)

Congratulations sourdough! Have a happy and healthy 9 months.

Not too much going on around here. I'm on CD 17. Due to DH's work schedule, I think we missed my O, but since I don't temp and didn't use OPKs this month, I have no real idea. AF is due around the 14th. If she doesn't show up by DD's birthday on the 22nd, I'll test then. I usually have pretty strong symptoms, so I'll probably already be pretty sure before I even test. I hate seeing a BFN, so I try to avoid those.

Dan's*Girl: Good luck. When's AF due?

AF is due today. She isn't here yet but my cramps are monstorous and my bb's are swollen. I'm crabby and hot. So i'm not counting on anything...but one can hope right? :)

Have a great weekend all!

Hello Ladies,
First let me send Baby Dust to Everyone. I hope to be joining this thread soon.

I have been lurkering on these cute baby sites for two reasons.
#1 Because they are soooooo cute and I would like to TTC
#2 My friend is 6 months pregant and these boards have helped me give her some suggestions.

DH (29 inDec) and I (26 in Sep) have started the TTC talk. I had always thought to have children before I was 30. Well the other day Dh said before he was 30. This is a surprise to me (and him) because that is less than 1year and 3 months away.

My question to you ladies is what are the major things to thinking before TTC? I have heard that you can never be ready.
Financial
Health
Emotional
Doctor
Good Resources
Or anything else...
Thank you and
Baby Dust

Ericka_Jarett
09-03-2005, 11:22 AM
I don't think financially you can every be ready, I know if we waited for our finances I would be 50 yrs old before I had a baby.

Health is never perfect, I am not my ideal weight but not letting that stop me.

Emotionally you should be pretty stable in this. I wouldn't suggest bringing a baby in the world if you and hubby can't agree on anything and your marriage stinks.

Doctor - have one that is understanding and ready to help you should an issue arise.
They should be willing to listen and offer advice on the next plan of action. Some people get pregnant right away others take months even years.

Good luck

I am on CD 4 after AF showed up on Wednesday after a few days of spotting. I was a little disappointed but we were really hoping to get pregnant in September so it wasn't too bad. I am a teacher and so the timing would be ideal for time off. I'll probably be more disappointed if I am not pregnant this month than the previous months.

Good luck to everyone who is about to test and welcome to those who have just joined!

Good morning ladies! Well, I am 7 DPO and on CD 25. I figure I can test a week from today? My cycles are usually between 30 and 32 days. 32 days would put me at next Sunday.

The only thing I can say MAY be pg symptoms is that for about 3-4 days now I have had what feel like AF cramps. But I usually don't get those until CD 28-29. They started on CD 21. A full week early AND at 3DPO.

This morning the cramps have been a bit sharper and more concentrated in my lower abdomen on the right side.

Other than that...no other "symptoms" to speak of. :o

I'm on my 8th day of spotting now. Still brown and starting to go away. I'm going to wait a couple more days and test. I don't have any FPS at this point but also no symptoms of AF like I have the last several months.

Good luck to Sarah and klav. Keep us posted girls!

CONGRATULATIONS, SOURDOUGH!

I'm going to be O'ing this week & DH is too sick to BD :(. Ironically I was hoping for an early O because DH could be called back to work at any time. Now I'm hoping it stays away for a few days. And I really just want him to stop hurting so badly.

Looks like I may have O'd earlier this month than last 2 cycles. FF is giving me a CD 19 unlike the CD 22 and 23 I had the last 2 cycles. If that is the case, I am DPO 3.

A couple from church announced after a long testimony that they are expecting their first in April. His wife is 7 weeks along. It's been a long road for them these last few years. He had a gland issue in his head that actually affected reproduction in him. They than looked at his wife and said she may have an issue as well. He was on about 12 different meds to try to make the "boys stronger" and he was sick of taking them. They went to a different RE and the guy said get off all meds and lets get your system cleaned out, since nothing worked. Before he had to take a new medication his wife woke him up at 4 am and told him she was pregnant. She already had 2 u/s done and they are thrilled. We are so happy for them. We talked to him after church and gave our Congratulations since we couldn't find his wife and he asked if there was anything specific he wanted us to pray for hubby and myself. We just said that it would happen soon for us again. August was hard for both of us since it was Rebekah's due date and dealing with VBS, we were away every weekend in August just to get us time. We had a church picnic afterwards and I told his wife the 2 lifesavers I had to get comfy in bed. (Her hubby told me that when she doesn't sleep, he isn't either, so told himthe same tips while at church)

CONGRATS Sourdough!!!!!

It has been a while since I've been in here. I typically chart but his month i've been 'lax. I am 10 DPO based on CM and am trying to wait to test one week from today since my LP is 15 days. I'll be 15DPO on DH's birthday so I may test early, but I wouldn't want a BFN to ruin his day so I am really going to try to wait until AF is late.

AF came saturday, so on for us to cycle 14. I've decided not to take the Clomid this month and just BD when we feel like it. I have updated the front page with charts and also have put down if you are waiting to O or test. Only about half of the ladies on our list are actively posting. Sorry to all the ladies that had AF show up. It seems like we are all in a clump (I just got AF too) so hopefully next month there will be a clump of BFP!

Pacificbliss--that cracked me up about that one won't do any good. I was talking to DH before we started one night and I asked, "Do you want me to have your babies?" just playing around (after asking if he liked me and if he loved me--it's a little thing we do in song form. I know we're dorks!) he just laughed and said nothing like pressure. I informed him that nothing we did that night would result in anything.

I am currently on CD 8 and waiting to O. I hope those of you testing this weekend get the results you want.

This thread moves too quick for me to keep up.

Sorry to all of those who have had AF show. Hopefully next month will result in many more positives.

Nothing much going on around here. Just impatiently waiting. I'm on CD21. I'll probably test late next week or early the week after. I'll probably already have a good idea if I'm pregnant since I tend to get some early symptoms. We'll see.

Need some advice....

Since going off BCP, my cycle has always been 28 days and this time I expected no different. Well, there is no AF to speak of, 30 CD and so I tested this morning with a Clear Blue Easy Digital and got a BFN. Should I try another test (different brand) or just wait for AF to begin if it does?

Dotsie Sorry if I came across as negative there. I did mean it to be funny. I am still very positive about this whole process and trying not to let it stress me out.

sunchaser26 I am about the last person who should be advising you to wait but you might want to give it a few days. I think last month I got so worked up about ttc my O was delayed and AF was delayed. I am not saying AF is coming for you. It's just that I went through 5 tests and saw 5 heartbreaking negatives. My cycles have been a perect 28 days until the first month we were really trying to conceive and then i was 4 days late. It's a personal goal of mine to try and take it easy this cycle.

Looty I am CD8 today so go figure, we're cycle buddies again this round.

Good luck!

sunchaser,

I would just wait a few more days, the digitals are usually pretty accurate.

Can't_Wait

Rejoining!

This is our 2nd cycle TTC. I'm trying to relax more this cycle b/c I think I got a little too worked up the last one. I'm definately going to wait until CD 28 to test rather than testing early. I think testing early, for me, made me more anxious.

Currently on CD 21. Not sure when I O'd as I have been trying to relax. Also I started taking Evening Primrose this cycle & it really increased my fertile CM. That was how I was determining when I O'd before. Not so helpful now.

Not sure if this is our cycle or not. DH got sick right around CD 14 so that was a bummer. We still got some BDing in around that time, just not exactly that day.

sunchaser26 I had always been 28 days, even after getting off of BC 3 months before TTC. The first month we TTC my cycle lasted 31 days. I took 3 tests all BFN. Then AF decided to arrive. I am trying to really relax this cycle b/c I do not want that to happen this time.

looty
09-08-2005, 03:18 PM
Pacificbliss-- we are cycle buddies again. Hopefully we will get to pregnancy buddies after this cycle too! :D

Sunchaser--I agree with all the other ladies to wait a few more days. The digital ones are pretty accurate as someone else said but I also think that they aren't as sensitive as some other tests. Try to hold out a few days though to save you some money.

I am still waiting to O. This is the boring part. It doesn't seem quite as long as it has in past cycles since I am actually working everyday now.

jnshanna
09-08-2005, 03:33 PM
You crack me up Pacificbliss! Poor little spermies.

Boy was this month a tough one. It's so hard when AF comes and you did such a good job with everything! We timed BD almost perfectly but it wasn't enough because that witch still came. I didn't think it would hit me so hard but it really did. And I tried to talk to DH about it but it makes him feel bad because he feels like a failure (or course I feel that way too so we're in the same boat) so we're just trying to focus on BDing and not talking about how we didn't get it right last month. ;) And the BDing can officially begin finally.

sunchaser & can't wait ~ The same thing happened to me in July. It was so weird. It was our first month trying and my cycle ended up being 37 days and it had never been longer than 34 days and even then that was a few months ago. I went from having a 26 day cycle to 37. Last month I did much better though because I was trying harder to relax and I think I was starting to get to the other side of the learning curve and didn't feel so completely in the dark about TTC. ;) Ironically last month was when I started temping so that must have put me at ease or something because I wasn't as stressed. Still stressed of course, just not as much. :p

sunchaser ~ Personally I would wait it out a couple more days before testing again. But everyone is different. It was pretty hard for me to not see that BFP line come up. It could just be that you happened to ovulate a little later this month so it may be too early to get a BFP. You never know. :)

Dotsie
09-08-2005, 03:45 PM

Dotsie that's so funny I almost said the same thing in my earlier post. All these years being so careful...

I'm reading some of the recent posts about strange cycles the first cycle of ttc and regretting that I just called my Dr's office and am sitting here waiting for the advice nurse to call. I should be CD8 today. AF was 3-4 days late and finally showed up on 9/1. She left by Monday morning and now I'm spotting again today. This has never happened before, my cycles were so regular. Now that I have read the earlier posts I think that first ttc cycle sometimes throws our bodies for a loop and this is probably nothing.

Maybe I should go yo yoga class tonight and just relax already :)

shortcake
09-08-2005, 06:53 PM
Pacificbliss - you sound pretty anxious, so it's probably good to talk to the advice nurse! Just to see what she says. When did you go off the pill? I don't know how many cycles you've been TTC, but I know when I went off the pill initially I had pretty weird cycles.

Hi everyone! I haven't posted here in a while, due to a combination of the end of the summer being super busy for me, and the fact that I needed to take a step back from obsessing and driving myself crazy.

I did miss chatting with others who are ttc, so I'm back on CC, and hope I can give and receive support through posting, but without winding myself up and stressing myself out again. :) I've been sporadically charting, but haven't decided whether I'll start it back up in full force next cycle, or take a break from it. Right now I'm probably going to test if AF doesn't come by 9/23.

As a few others have posted, my first cycle TTC, i was late by 2 days, which had never happened before. Also, my bbs were painfully sore, which was never a symptom of AF for me. I was positive I was pg, and was pretty upset when AF showed a couple days late. So I agree, i think the first cycle TTC totally throws your body for a loop!

09-12-2005, 06:32 AM
Ericka_Jarett, yep!

Yesterday morning I got a BFP!

Of course my DH doesn't really believe it yet even though my 2 lines came up pretty quickly. I did break down and test early on Thursday morning while I was half awake. I didn't really wait and threw the test in the garbage. Then an hour later I got up for the day took it out just to see and there was the slightest line. But I know that the tests aren't really valid after 10 minutes. So I waited until yesterday again and with a minute or two the line showed up. It's hard to believe it myself still.

I have my first appt. on Sept. 27th.

Here's hoping that Sarahh and other have some good news to share as well :) Thanks for your support ladies!

Hi, I think I'll join. I posted a lot on WC while pregnant with DD, but haven't posted much here, just lurking occaisionally.

Me: Shana (32)
DH: Doug (41)
Married: 6/22/02

TTC #2: 8/05

When TTC DD, we got pregnant the first cycle off BCP's. I just got AF Saturday after cycle #1, so we weren't that lucky this time. Honestly, DH is more ready this time than I am. I'd like to wait another 6 months, but b/c of our jobs, it just is better not to have another winter baby, so it's now or wait another year. So I am somewhat disappointed about AF, but not crushed.

Congrats Shortcake

Me - Presently CD 31, DPO 12 according to FF. Tested yesterday got a BFN, I was dumb and didn't wait like I was going to. Now I am not testing again until Monday as long as AF stays away. Last 2 cycles I got CD 33 or CD 34 and LP was 11 days. I O'd on CD 19, where last 2 cycles were CD 22 and CD 23

Hi girls,

I started spotting and cramping again! I was concerned so I called my Dr. office again. They told me to relax (duh I know that) and to get to bding because based on a Sept. 1 period start date I should be ovulating. Something just seemed off so I took yet another HPT...

BFP!

I called and they said I can just drop into the lab this afternoon to have it confirmed. Here's the thing. Like most of us I have been drinking since the BFN and arrival of AF. This couldn't be a BFP from this cycle could it? I am thinking I must be about 6 weeks. It's probably ok right?

Thanks girls! I am so excited.

I have been doing some poking around and it looks like the spotting/cramping (and drinking) are not uncommon in early pg.

I feel so much better. Kaiser has drop in hours for a clinical pg test and I am waiting on those results but, based on the three tests in the bathroom, I know the answer :D

Thank you everyone for the warm wishes. Good luck to everyone bding and testing.

Because of thr spotting and cramping we ended up in the emergency room last night. When I got the positive result and called for an appointment they could not tell if they should go by August 1 or September 1 for the last period. If it was September 1 then September 14th is really early for a BFP. If it was August 1st they were really worried about spotting and cramping at 6 weeks. They did an ultrasound and could not see anything in the tubes. That said they could not see anything in the uterus either so it's probably the September 1st cycle. They did a quantitative HCG and it was 1309. Tomorrow I go back for another one and will get the results on Monday. If it has gone up they will assume the pregnancy is viable. If not, they will assume I have miscarried. In the meantime I am supposed to stick around the house and lay low. I will let you know what I hear.

Poor DH got a phone call at work yesterday that went, "I am pregnant and I have to go the emergency." What a way to hear.

Pacificbliss~ Prayers and sticky vibes coming your way!

I'm trying soooo very hard to take it easy this month since I called a stop after this last AF to the obsessing and stressing. BD'ing has been more casual and actually more enjoyable than when I was die hard charting and counting and checking my CM. I should be O'ing in the next day or two based on the cramps I'm feeling and my OB said that Clomid stays in your system for a month or two after you stop taking it so in reality I get the benefits without the side effects :)

Have a great day ladies!

Married: May 29, 2005
Last BCP: September 1, 2005 ( Birth Control Pill)
TTC since: September 1, 2005

I am on CD9, I think. My periods while not on the pill are pretty irregular. They were very regular on the pill, and I was on it for 3 years, so I am assuming my cycle is 28 days and I guess if it's not I will find out within the next few months.

Mike has wanted a baby for years! He seriously tried to talk me into having one before our wedding. He LOVES our nieces and nephews and is so great with them. I know he will be an incredible father! Aside being a little squeamish about drool and puke I think I will be a pretty good mom too. Hopefully I will get pregnant quickly, but we are not charting or anything like that. Mike had his wisdom teeth pulled today so I don't know if we will be doing any BD this week.

With two pregnancies in the family right now (one at 6 months, one at 6 weeks) I am surrounded by baby stuff and baby talk and I'm loving it. I hope it will be our turn soon!

Congrats to Pacificbliss, Shortcake, and Lolly!! I hope that all goes well for you on Monday, Pacificbliss! Welcome to the newbies, too! Hope your time here is short yet fun!

DH and I just returned from a week long vacation...of course I got the "word" right before we left from FF that I had maybe Oed already...so quit temping the whole time I was away. I'll start it up again this next week. I'm at cd 31 today, so AF should arrive within the week. Who knows when this will happen for us though...I leave in a few weeks for Belize...so I'm worried about getting pregnant beforehand and then flying. (of course I will either ovulate right before I leave or during my trip based on my last few months of temping) Anyone have thoughts on flying RIGHT AFTER you get pregnant?

Mike had his wisdom teeth pulled yesterday and I think it might delay things for us. I think I am supposed to ovulate between Monday and Wednesday next week. I am trying so hard not to let my disappointment turn into actually being mad at Mike. It's not his fault and I know how miserable he feels. Like I said, the last two weeks have been torture! 3 days ago I found out a friend is pregnant and it makes it worse!

I'm thoroughly confused now. I didn't really have AF - I spotted brown for 8 days and had very little red in there. I've tested twice (but not for 2 weeks) and both BFN. I should test again but keep forgetting to get tests and don't think I'm pg. Plus, yesterday I had EWCM!!! I haven't actually seen that for a long time. Based on not having AF I'm on CD55. If I start over with couting at the first day of spotting I'd be CD21. My cycles are usually 35 days so I very well could be O'ing.

I'd appreciate any crossed fingers!

Meant to add that tommarow will be CD9. Is it too late now? What, if any, is the average CD when you O? We've been TTC since June, but we've only been 'seeing what happens' and not really charting or paying attention to when I would O. Thanks for any help :D

Thanks Shanna.

I put the thermometer away. I am going back to SWH and not charting this cycle, seemed to work the first time for me. Now that I know how long my average cycles are and how long my LP usually last I really have a better understanding of what my body is doing each month. Maybe if I don't think about it so much, it will happen faster for me. Been almost 5 months, who knew it would take this long, when you are "supposedly more fertile for up to 6 months after having a baby"

looty
09-18-2005, 08:39 AM
Welcome to Sarah and Ashley! Hope you're not around long! (Not in a bad way!)

Sorry that AF showed up Ericka. Hopefully SWH will work for you again this time!

Thanks Shanna!

As for me this is copied from my journal:

I think that I O'd on Friday. I am not sure because I am not charting or temping, but I think so due to the signs my body gave me (sore bbs, pain on my right side, etc). So I guess if that is the case I am not sure if we covered ourselves. We have been bd'ing everyday since 9/9 but I fell asleep on the couch Friday and we didn't. We bd'ed on Saturday morning but if it's after O, it doesn't help does it? If we bd'ed on Thursday is it possibe to still get pg if I O'ed on Friday? I am not sure if it was Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. I thought it was on Thursday originally due to what I thinking was O pain, but on Friday and Saturday I had sore bbs so I wasn't sure. I am not freaking out about it because there is nothing I can do about it now but I am wondering if we even have a chance at this month now.

Do any of you ladies have some insight?

pacificbliss
09-18-2005, 10:55 AM
Looty I think there's still a chance. Your body can actually hold on to his sperm for a while. I think it's as much as a couple of days. If you bd'ed on Thursday and O'ed on Friday the sperm may still have been there when the egg arrived. Besides, if I can get a BFP on CD14 I think anything is possible.

Welcome Sarah and Ashley Did I miss someone? Sorry If I missed someone.

Sorry about AF Ericka

I have tried calling the Kaiser results line several times over the weekend hoping they would make the HCG results available before my appointment tomorrow but no such luck.

flygirl
09-18-2005, 12:11 PM
looty, from what you've written, I think you have an excellent chance! Missing one day of BD, even if it's your O day, is not a big deal. Sperm live for 3-5 days in fertile fluid, and your egg lives 12-24 hours, so theoretically you can have a 7-day window of fertility. In other words, you coud BD once, 4 days before you O, & still conceive You could BD 20 hours after O & still conceive.

mayham
09-18-2005, 01:51 PM
Looty, I agree with flygirl. You definitely have a chance with your BD & O timing!

pacificbliss- sorry you couldn't get your results early :( good luck thought, less than one day until you find out!

Ericka_Jarett- good luck this cycle! I kind of put the therm away on this cycle, but ended up sneaking in temps around O time to try and confirm, and then this weekend to see if temps were going down so I could anticipate AF. I do think that taking a break from daily temp taking helped me chill a bit... not sure if that's helped our cause yet.

jnshanna- FF is not always right, you definitely know your own body better!

Dotsie- what is the grapefruit juice good for?

sarahncraig & ambam- Welcome!

As for me, I'm CD 30, and have a feeling AF is coming tomorrow. FF originally had me testing on Friday, but I think that is wrong, since I've never had a 35 day cycle, and I didn't temp through this whole cycle. I've had cramps almost all week, and yesterday my armpits were really sore, which is a new thing.

This is cycle #6. I made an appt. with a new gyn for a pap, and so I could talk to her about our TTC efforts. I have to wait almost 2 months for the appt! I'm hoping to just relax and SWH until that appointment. Though I'm thinking it may be wise to start charting again so I'd have that info to show the doc. For those of you who have charted, what do you thinK?

Dotsie
09-18-2005, 03:55 PM
grapfruit juice makes your cmmore abundant. I took the robitussin and the drank the grapefruit juice when I got pg with my DS. It really does work.

flygirl
09-18-2005, 04:07 PM
mayham, how many cycles do you have in FF? More importantly, how many are being "included" in the calculations? When you don't have enough information for FF to make personal predictions, it usually suggests that you test 14-16 DPO. Without temps or CM notes, it's impossible to tell for sure, but I suspect you O'd CD16. That would be more in line with your last cycle, based on your actual coverline & your LP. That makes today 14 DPO, and with your temp drop this morning, AF is likely to fly in today or tomorrow.

mayham
09-18-2005, 04:48 PM
Hi flygirl, thanks for taking a look at my chart. I have 4 cycles in there. I think it was off a little since I only started temping the day I thought I O'd (CD16). While AF isn't here yet, I'd be shocked if she didn't show by tomorrow evening.

Dotsie, thanks for the info on the grapefruit juice! (and it's good to know it actually worked for you in the past!) I'll definitely be stocking up and drinking that once AF is gone!

jnshanna
09-18-2005, 04:57 PM
Yeah, I like grapefruit juice so I might have to give that a try too! Thanks Dotsie.

Well, as I predicted, FF took my O date away when I entered my temp today. I'm going to do an OPK in a bit and I'm sooo hoping it's a +. I just want the 2WW here already! ;)

Oh and just because, I'll say I completely agree with the others, Looty. You have a great chance! It isn't necessary to BD exactly on your O date in order to get pg. It's the best case scenario but you can definitely get pg BDing like you did. :) Lots of women get pg without BDing on their O date.

Well, today is my first day back after "taking off" the past month, so Congratulations to everyone who got a BFP! And welcome to the people who just joined.

Today is CD1 for me, and I decided I really am just going to "see what happens" this month. I charted the first month and ended up being obsessed - I charted my 2nd month to see when I O'd, and this month I'm not going to chart at all. If I'm not pg by the end of the year, I'll start charting again.

Anyway, good luck to everyone! :)

Emmjay~ ITA with you about truely seeing what happens. We took it easy for the first 6 months, then the second 6 months I was obsessed and charting and testing CM and stressing myself out. This month I'm not doing any of those things, just enjoying BD'ing and trying not to think about it. We are hoping that the whole "just relax and it will happen" thing actually does.

Hope everyone had a stress-free monday (is there such a thing?? ;) )

I am back from the ob/gyn. My HCG levels almost doubled between Wednesday and Friday. The Dr. said they were in the normal range. He did an u/s and could just barely see what he thinks is the beginning of the embryonic sac. Sunday I will go in for another blood draw and the Wednesday after that he says he'll peek again with the u/s. At this point he says he gives it as much of a chance as any early 1st trimester pregancy. Also, he thinks I was pg before I got the 9/1 "period". Seriously, it seemed just like a normal period. Good luck ladies! I'll be checking in on you. Here's some more...

Finally! I got a + OPK today. I was getting worried because my temp just kept going down. I was beginning to think I wasn't going to O at all! Hopefully my temp goes up tomorrow and I'll know my O date soon. Whew, I'm so glad I'm almost past O. Waiting for O seemed to take FOREVER this time!

Flygirl--I am sorry that AF showed up. Don't feel bad about posting that after what I posted.

Welcome back Emmjay! I hope SWH works for you this month. I decided not to chart yet because I figure I will obsess about it too.

That's awesome news Pacificbliss! I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Still just waiting and overanalyzing every pain or twinge in the ovary areas wondering if that is O pain or if I am kidding myself and I know I already O'ed. I guess if I don't get AF by Oct. 1 I will probably test that morning. It seems like a few of us will be testing then.

Good luck to us all!

I don't know where I am in my cycle. I am pretty sure I either just O'd or I am going to within the next couple days.

On the pill my cycle was always an even 28 days. I don't know what it was before the pill.

I had AF about 6 days early last cycle due to going off the pill mid-pack. So according to FF (all I entered was AF dates) my cycle is 22 days, even though I entered it as 28. I am assuming it is saying 22 since my last cycle was 22.(and that is the only one I've recorded)

So according to FF I should get AF on October 1. Following a 28 day cycle I should get it the 7th. So knowing me, if AF doesn't show up on 10-1 I will think I am pregnant and get all excited. Then AF will show up on the 7th. So I *think* I am in the 2WW, but I guess it's more like a 3WW.

flygirl - sorry about AF, I'm right there with you, she just showed up today.

emmjay & Dan's*Girl - I'll be joining you in the "truely SWH" category. I tried to do that this past cycle, but broke down and temped around O and right before AF... but still at least I was more relaxed than before when I was temping every day.

pacificbliss - great news!!

AF showed this evening, so I'm out this month, but okay with it. I'm really more relaxed with TTC now and not obsessing, so hopefully that will work in my favor! Good luck to everyone testing in the next 2 weeks!

Yay, I had a temp jump this morning so I'm pretty sure I O'd yesterday. :D Technically I shouldn't test until later but I'm going to test 10/1 in the morning because that's my 11th wedding anniversary. I'll be 12DPO then so I'm hoping, hoping, hoping it could happen this month!

Sorry about AF Mayham. :(

I started a few days ago :( ! But that's ok. I'm going thru a bit of a quarter life crisis right now. I'm trying to figure out if now is the best time to start, after waiting forever!!! I am a SAHW now and not loving it so I am thinking about getting a part time job, going to school and then take it from there. If I can wait...

mayham sorry to hear that AF showed her ugly head!

As for me, I'm on CD14. From looking at charts they say the 17th through the 20th are my most fertile days. I dont' know if I O'd or not, but DH and I have been BDing just in case! ;)

Gook look to those testing and happy BDing! :D

Hubby cracks me up sometimes. I am not officially charting this month as I told all of you. Well he thinks I am going to chart even though I said I wasn't officially this month.

He said so where will your cycle be in February for the possible Nashville trip. I had to count forward to tell him roughly how many days I would be in my cycle so he knows if BDing will work. I said I sure hope I don't have to wait that long to be pregnant, I would only be CD 6 if that was the case. I hope I am going to be 4 months pregnant by the time of the trip.

Can I join?

Me: Lorelei (30)
DH: Jay (33)
Married: 9/11/04
Last BCP: 7/22/04
TTC since: 11/28/04
Current status: Waiting to O.

I was charting for a while, I even belonged to the TTC w/charting group on the other boards. But I stopped charting because it was too stressful. So, now we're just seeing what happens and using a bit of what I learned from charting (checking cm and cp).

Thanks!

Ok ladies, I'm not supposed to be obsessing about symptoms this month, so I'm going to tell them to you and let you do it for me. :)

I'm 5dpo and woke up this morning with a HUGE ZIT on my face. I haven't had as much as a pimple since I was 12. My pooch is rock hard and i've had gas really bad (not been eating bad or anything), and i'm been sleeping like the dead(normally get up a couple times a night).

Any thoughts?

WELCOME to the newbies, and Adrienne I miss you girl. Email me!

Whew, I'm glad you said "not that I need it" emermel! I almost got excited! ;) I don't think there is a June thread yet. I haven't seen any graduates with June due dates yet. Hopefully soon!!

Ramona ~ A huge zit and you haven't had one for a long time? Hmmmm, sounds promising to me. I've heard the 1st tri brings on bad break outs for a lot of women. I hope it means something! :D Although, to be realistic I'm not sure it's possible that implantation has happened yet but who knows, is it at all possible that you O'd a little earlier than you thought? I'm already obsessing and I'm only 2 DPO. There's no way my symptoms can be real but that doesn't stop me. :p

This is probably a silly question, but can anyone list some early, early symptoms of pregnancy, other than sore bbs?

I went through my planner and marked my possible AF dates, listing according to what source. That way I know when I hit the date that yes, I should have started by now so I should test. I am pretty sure I ovulated by now. I have had some little crampies on one side that I never got on the pill. I had those before I went on the pill, so I am assuming that is ovulation.

One more question... does anyone not like their ob/gyn? I don't really like mine. I was seeing a nurse prac. but for a colposcopy I actually saw the dr and I just didn't like his attitude. He wasn't very comforting and kinda seemed like he just didn't care. I realize that when I am pregnant I will be seeing my dr a lot more and that I will need to be comfortable asking him/her questions and I just don't see that with mine. How do you find a new one? Am I supposed to just keeping making appointments until I like one, or is it possible for me to talk to one before making an appointment? I guess I am imagining it like a sort of "interview" before I commit to a new dr.

Maybe it is just me. Is it wrong to be so expectant of what my dr would be like? I mean, you're not supposed to enjoy going to the ob/gun anyways, so maybe I'm trying to fix something that is "unfixable."

Huge Zits:

OK...I have a couple of opinions on this one (as I also developed a HUGE one on my face this week)

1) Before finding out I was pg with DD (I don't remember how much before though) I also had a big zit. I remember joking to DH "Maybe I'm pregnant"

2) Many of us have just gone off of BCP, which makes our skin wack out. I have been breaking out MUCH more than I ever did while on BCP (or even in high school).

Proactive anyone?

Michelle - I guess everyone is different. I noticed that I peed a WHOLE LOT MORE than I usually did. That's what made me test at 10dpo. I also noticed that the veins on my chest got really dark and noticeable. Fatigue, nausea, breakouts, etc. I know they are symtoms as well.

Welcome to Elenna.

Good luck to those that are trying to catch the egg now/soon or thaqt are testing soon.

I am currently on Cd 22. I think that I am about 5 DPO, but as I said I am not really sure. I will be testing on 10/1 too if I haven't gotten AF by then. I am with emerel in the fact that last month my face was out of control after being off the pill for my second month. I am happy to say that as of right now it has cleared up a lot but we will see what happens as I get closer to AF time.

I am really embarassed to be posting this, but is diarrhea an early sign of pregnancy? I have a friend who is not TTC and for some reason she has diarrhea and thinks it means she is pregnant. I don't think she has any other symptoms, but she said she forgot to take 2 pills this month and did not use other protection.

That's what I thought. I think my friend is just paranoid. She really doesn't want to get pregnant so every time she feels anything wrong with her stomach she thinks she is pregnant. I told her that if she feels that strongly about not wanting to get pregnant she should make sure she takes her pills and uses backup when she misses one.

Oh well. Thanks for the replies!

MichelleRenee - In quick answer to your questions b/c DD is calling me...1) I had super diarrhea early on before I tested and got a BFP so for everyone it's different but that might have been related for me. 2) Finding an OB - I hope you can find one you like more! Ask around with your girlfriends and co-workers...or even the receptionist at your dr's office (maybe there is a doc in the office who is more personable, or maybe she goes to another one?). Or post on a "local" thread on CC! Good luck! :)

I haven't been around in a while, so I'm re-joining!

Name: Di
DH: Dave
Married since: May 03
Off BCP and TTC since: May 05
Current status: waiting to see if AF arrives

I'm going to post my latest goings-on, and see what you ladies think.

Tuesday night I was cooking dinner and started coughing. Quickly the cough turned into heaves and I ran to the bathroom. Bye bye contents of stomach. *sigh* Thankfully I was able to keep dinner down.

I thought AF had arrived Tuesday night when I got home from work, though very light. But there was no blood before I went to bed or Wednesday morning when I woke up. It's definitely time for AF to show up, plus I've been zitty, so this "is AF here or not?" thing is weird. Since then, no AF and no spotting at all.

CD1 was Sept 1 and we only DTD once since then. My cycles since going off the pill have been quite short:
26 days (8/5 - 9/1)
20 days (7/17 - 8/5)
(damn, I can't find my records about months previous)

Not only have the cycles been short, the menses has been as well. 2-3 days of any blood, and most of it brown and a light flow.

Obviously, I'm not charting, or I'd be on another thread ;) but I was trying to pay more attention to my body's signs of EWCM and ovulation symptoms but that's not working so well. Why is it that when I read about EWCM I was like "oh yeah, that stuff!" and now that I'm looking for it, I never notice? *thbbbt*

I'm still zitty and had bad gas (sorry!) last night, though GI issues are not uncommon for me. No other PG or AF symptoms.

I took an HPT this morning, but the test was either a dud or I saturated the impregnable (hardy har har) spatter shield that covers the control and result windows. In any case, no lines in either window. Not after 3 minutes, not even after I showered (obviously the results would have been invalid, but at least I should have seen a line in the control window!). Like a novice Ghostbuster, it would seem that I'm not too good at aiming the stream effectively.

So I'll buy some more sticks at BJs or Tarjay tonight and try again tomorrow. I'm wondering if the other 2 sticks will be FUBARed as well, since they expire next month. Does anyone know what the sensitivity of the BJs tests are? The BJs brand is "Berkeley & Jensen."

If I still have no result at all or a negative tomorrow, I'll hold off until I know for certain that AF is not coming this month. It is day 22 today and I have been having short cycles as I posted above, but who knows, maybe it will be a longer one this month and I'm jumping the gun by testing.

TIA!

Di

Di,

I would say to retest, you can get Answer tests as a 2 pack at Walmart for like $6.97 They have the control window on the one side, you can flip the test over so you don't pee on that side of the test. That's what I do, so that I don't have any splash.

I noticed I was quite zitty and wondered what was up. Sure enough took a test (granted I was already 14 weeks) and got a pregnant in my digital tests and knew for sure that was why I was so zitty.

Parrothead,

Congrats on your BFP!!! More baby dust I hope that is a good sign for the rest of us.

Congratulations Parrothead ! I hope you have a healthy and happy nine months.

Di : Your last few cycles could be short from coming off the BCPs. Hopefully they'll lengthen as the hormones leave your system. Actually, I hope you won't have to find out if that'll happen and that you'll get a BFP soon. Good luck.

I had a wierd "possible" symptom today. I had a really, really metallic taste in my mouth suddenly. It tasted almost like blood, but it wasn't blood. I wasn't eating or drinking anything either. I mentioned it to a co-worker, who doesn't know we are TTC, and she said "maybe your're pregnant! I always had that when I was pregnant..." So of course that made me feel excited, but it was short lived. We haven't been trying long so I doubt I am pregnant. I guess it just felt good to hear someone say that once when we are actually hoping to get pregnant, rather than TTA!

Di, that is wierd that you had that light AF for only part of one day. I think the test was clearly not working and you should try again! My fingers are crossed for you!

looty
09-22-2005, 04:24 PM
Congrats to Parrothead! I wish you a happy and healthy nine months.

Di, I would just test again. I can't really speak about which test to use because I haven't gotten to use any since TTC. :( I think that there is a list of their sensitivity on the first page. Good luck. It sounds promising, but only time will tell.

I can tell I am hoping for a BFP much more this month. I say a really short prayer everyday (usually in the car or shower or both). It would be perfect timing for us since I am a teacher and in a few months it will be time to decide whether we want to hold off for a few months (to miss the beginning of the school year) or not. I hope we don't have to make that decision!

One cute thing that my DH did was kiss my stomach after I told him that I was praying to get pregnant everyday. I asked him if he thought that would put a baby in there and he said, "No but hopefully it will make one want to stick around." So cute!

MichelleRenee
09-22-2005, 04:57 PM
Looty, that is so cute!

I have the same issue arising. If we don't get pregnant in the next couple of months I could end up being due after the fall semester starts next year. Obviously I don't think having a baby while in school is a problem, but being due in the middle of a semester just doesn't sound like a good idea.

Good luck this month!

Thanks Michelle! Good luck to you too! :D

Well Dh just talked to MIL and informed us that SIL is pregnant! I am having mixed emotions about it which makes me mad at myself. I am happy for her and it means that our future (hopefully conceived soon) baby will have a cousin very close in age, but I actually for the first time was jealous when someone announced their pregnancy. I just talked myself out of it by telling myself that hopefully I'll be joining her soon. I hate to feel anything but happiness for her. Oh well can't help my feelings I suppose. :o

Michelle,
A friend posted in my LJ about the metallic taste!! She had it while PG, so... :)

BFN for me tonight. I used the other BJs test that I had, though I did buy an Answer and Equate from Wally World. If AF doesn't show up by day 30ish, I'll test again.

Thanks for all your good thoughts, everyone!!

Really Di? That's good, if it means I get to be pregnant now, but bad if it means I have to deal with it for 9 months! I hate that taste!! I can't even eat most canned foods because I can "taste" the can!
