Thanks for starting a May mommies thread! I just joined the April one last night, since due date calculators give me either 4/29 (based on LMP) or 5/1 when based on my longer cycle and the day I *think* I O'ed. But I'm guessing I'll be a May mommy since I've never had a 28 day cycle (more like 30-34) so I guess I'll join here, too!
My first appointment is a 2 hour cosultation with a CNM on Sept. 6 so hopefully she'll be able to help me figure out the due date. I have to go in again on 9/15, as they scheduled me for another 30 minute appointment that day. I'm so nervous!

crazycaro - How cool that you are in Australia! I am sending you tons of **sticky vibes**! We're kind of in the same boat since we both have toddlers to chase this time around :)
smiles33 -I also have a late April due date if you go by my LMP but I'm using my O date to get the May 1st due date :)

QOTD: What are your early symptoms?
I am a little nauseous off and on, and slight cramping here and there. . . it scares me everytime. Definitely notice changes in BBs - all the ones listed as possible PG signs - now I know what they mean when the say dark, raised bumps, and veiny

***Updated to here (I hope)***
I'm so glad we're getting more May mommies :) I think I've added everyone's info but please feel free to let me know if I missed anything. I have my nurse's appointment tomorrow-nothing too exciting medical history, insurance info-all that boring stuff.
QOTD - My symptoms so far are sore bbs, fatigue and I have noticed that I seem to be a little hungrier than normal. With my first pregnancy I gained about 30lbs so I'm trying to stay around 25lbs this time. Anyway-I hope all is well and I'll chat at you girls later!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to be joining this thread. I am due in May but will be having an April baby due to a repeat c/s. So, I am posting in both threads! Here's my stats:
Missy 329
Me: Lisa, 36
DH: Jim, 37

Married: 5/17/03
TTC: 12/04
BFP: 8/23/05
EDD: 5/6/06
I am looking forward to meeting all of you. Here's a silly QOTD- How many HPT's did you take? I took 8!!! And I had a test at the Dr's and I still keep telling my DH that I am not sure if I am pg! I just don't feel pg this time around- I was so sick and tired last time and I feel ok this time around. So, my husband says he will pray that I start feeling sick
Guinness
08-30-2005, 08:25 AM
Welcome Missy. I took 6 HPTs and I don't really feel pregnant either. I kind of realize things are different, but always want to test to make sure again and again. They say no m/s means a boy right?? Maybe that is why you feel different ;) . This is my 1st, so I really have nothing to compare to.
I can't believe I have to wait so long for my 1st appointment. Many of you will be on or past your 2nd appointment by then  What did you do at your 1st appointment?
kristin9903
08-30-2005, 10:00 AM
QOTD-symptoms My BB's are sore and I have horrible acid reflux. I'm also cramping from time to time and have (TMI) crazy amounts of CM. I also haven't been sleeping well, due to the fact that this kid is making me the temperature of the sun!
QOTD-tests I've taken 4, with my latest being last night. I'm officially out of tests now, but seeing the lines get darker and darker help me hold out until my appointment next week.
Doh! Would you mind changing my EDD to May 8, 2006. I'll blame my error on sleep deprivation and pregnancy brain. :p Thanks so much!
Thanks for the congrats, Sonya . :D
QOTD -Symptoms? I've been ravenously hungry, tired, and my bbs hurt though not as much as they did when I was pg with #1.
QOTD -As for pregnancy tests...I plead the fifth. :p Let's just say more than five, but less than ten. I couldn't resist. They were calling my name.

Well, I thought I would join this thread. I just found this site recently. I was at the "other" site (same name), but didn't post often. I'm hoping to be more active here. I definately have a reason to be now!!

QOTD - symptoms Sore bbs, a little cramping on and off, and it seems like I have to pee ever 5 minutes.
QOTD tests: I took four. I messed up on of them (apprentaly I can't poas) so I didn't really count that one. So it was three days in a row, with the lines getting darker.
I meet with my reg doc next week to get referals and will then make a appt. I'm not expecting it to be for several weeks though.
It still doesn't seem real. I am convinced I will wake up one day and I won't be any more. Wishing all of us a H&H 9 months!!!

Hi! Congrats to all of you!!!
I am a little too nervous to join after joining and having to leave a group last month. I have a second beta on Friday with results due in on Tuesday; perhaps I'll have enough confidence to join at that point. In the meantime, may I interrupt to ask a question?
Does your bb soreness come and go with intensity? I definitely still feel them, but not as much as yesterday, for instance. I'm just so paranoid and looking for similar experiences for reassurance.
Thank you. I hope to join soon.
kristin9903
08-30-2005, 02:21 PM
Bloomwood Absolutely. Some days they hurt so much, that just brushing up against something makes me wince. Some days, my dogs can pounce on them and nothing. The days without symptoms are what kept me taking all four of my HPT's. :)
Bloomwood
08-30-2005, 02:39 PM
Thanks Kristin!
Bloomwood The days without symptoms are what kept me taking all four of my HPT's. :)
LOL - right after I posted this I took one of my digital tests. Definitely not highly concentrated "u" and it still came back "PREGNANT." That made me feel a little better. I keep jumping up and down and feeling myself up to experience even a little aching!
I moved my next blood draw up to Thursday, so hopefully I can join soon. :p

I threw up this morning, yuck - I hope morning sickness is not here already. I had it with Ruby and it was awful!
Stacey, isn't it going to be fun having a toddler to manage as well as a newborn??? :D Missy is in the same boat. Hey if Kim is doing it for a third time it can't be too bad. Maybe. ;)
QOTD: sore boobs, tiredness, moodiness, maybe the beginning of morning sickness? My cramping has eased off a ton. Oh I have heartburn too, I hate it, I remember it with Ruby and it was painful. I am totally stocking up on heartburn meds soon.
How many tests: Six so far, since last Thursday. :) I have one more left and will use it tomorrow. I'll do a pee test at the doctors today too! I also used an OPK I had, just for kicks.
Wow Bloomwood, we are in the exact same boat as each other. I also had an early loss last cycle. Hugs to you, it makes things are bit harder doesn't it? I am feeling pretty optimistic, but I am worried like every newly preggo here is. Fingers and toes crossed we all have sticky babies here.
I got a BFP on CD30 with a digital, that was so exciting. :) I had got a BFN with one just 3 days earlier (but a faint BFP on a normal two line test).
Hope everyone is well. :)

Bloomwood, my soreness was sporadic too. Now it has either subsided a lot or I got used to it. At 1st it was mostly nipple soreness, now it is more overall tenderness when they are sore. This early stage is scary. I keep running to the bathroom checking tp. . . . oh the beginning of a lifetime of worries I wouldn't trade for anything

***Updated to here***
A big thanks to Tulip for stopping by-isn't it neat how you can have "friends" on these boards that you've never met but that you still feel connected to :)
Good luck Bloomwood - hopefully you'll be "officially" joining real soon!
QOTD-tests - Okay so I've only taken about 8 tests  I had an early loss before my DS and was also a little paranoid but now I'm over it, thinking positive and excited about a happy and healthy pregnancy :)
Kim - I guess a May 2006 baby would make more sense :o
As for me-I had my nurse's appointment today-nothing exciting-she gave me a EDD of 05/03/06 but I'm still sticking to my O date of 05/01/06. I got weighed and measured, we went over my medical history, and I got a nice little bag with tons of info and a book. My next appt is September 8th with the dr.
Last but not least-welcome to all the new mommies :D

QOTD symptoms: Lower back pain (started 2 days before I got my BFP!), sore BBs (but not as sensitive now), occasional bouts of cramps/pinching/pulling, dry mouth (and I drink like 12-14 cups of water a day!), aversion to red meat (and I usually LOVE ribs, steak, beef brisket, etc.), extremely vivid dreams, occasional waves of nausea (very brief episodes, no gagging), fatigue
QOTD tests: I've taken 2 this cycle that registered BFP (had to take the second one right away to confirm!), but at least 5 before that (3 in the previous months' cycles and 2 earlier this cycle)
I'm curious--is anyone else uncomfortable missing work for appointments without telling them why yet? I'm pretty close to my boss, so I feel weird not telling her yet but I also feel like I need to do so soon since I have 2 appointments in 2 weeks and will need to take time off. I'm horrible at lying so I feel really uncomfortable not just saying I'm going to the doctor.
I just had my annual exam in July, which my boss knew about since I had to take a second afternoon off to get my blood tested for cholesterol screening, so I couldn't say I was going in for another doctor's appointment, as she'd be concerned and wonder what was wrong.
My first appointment isn't until next Tuesday, but I already told my boss I have to leave early because I am taking my in-laws to the airport (which I'm actually doing Sunday). THe next one is on Sept. 15 and I haven't mentioned it yet. I may just say I have a dental appointment or something.
So, is anyone as neurotic as me? :D

Hi all! Can't believe this is such a big group already!
Have an update for the profiles...First appointment on Sept. 15th!
Symptoms - Fatigue, a tiny bit of morningsickness. So far, that's about it... freaks me out because with my 1st, I spent a full day and a half puking before I even knew I was pregnant and then it lasted 4 months!
How many HPTs? - Actually, only 1, and it was a faint line, but when AF didn't show up, I knew a line was a line.

Welcome Angela!
Hope everyone is doing well. It is quiet in here.
I am doing well, tired, but good. I wish the time would go by a little faster! My appointment is in 3 weeks, and I am having a hard time waiting until then to make it official. Last night was a friend's birthday, we went to a wine bar. I didn't want to say anything in the large group of people, so I said I wasn't feeling great and only had like a sip of my tiny bit of wine. My friend was like you didn't drink your wine. . . yeah I don't feel great. I am sure she didn't believe me, but I am just not ready to say until after the 1st appointment. Anyone else feeling like a big fat liar to some people?
I feel like I have PREGNANT written on my forehead, yet I am not acknowledging it. This weekend we are telling some family in person, so maybe that will make me feel better.
Well, hope everyone has a good day. STICKY VIBES to all!!

Guinness, that's how I feel about my boss, as I hate lying and I consider her a friend (we knew each other before I started working here). My first appointment is Tuesday, and then I have another on 9/15, so I may end up telling her before the 9/15 one.
Anyhow, so last night we had dinner with DH's grandparents (both in their 80s) and surprised them with this:
http://littledragonflies.com/cgi-bin/image/templates/1982.jpg
His grandmother started crying and got so emotional, and then I got emotional and then even DH had watery eyes. It was beautiful! She told us how she has been waiting and praying for a great-grandchild for so long (we've been married over 3 years). I was surprised, as she has been so nonchalant about it, trying not to pressure us. It felt so good sharing the news!
Guinness

Smiles, ah what a sweet story about your grandmother. So fun. That is right, you mentioned the conflicting feelings with your boss. It is so hard to hold a secret from those that you really want to tell. My friend is actually a colleague, and I am just not ready for the info to get around work yet. I probably won't officially tell until 12 weeks for work, but I will probably tell her at 8 weeks because then I will feel much more comfortable. It is pretty hard to justify your 'unlike you' habits though ;)

09-01-2005, 01:40 PM
Tell me about it! I had to pretend to sip champagne for a reception last week (everyone was toasting and my boss knows I LOVE champagne) and then secretly dumped it out. I was so torn, as it was good champagne but I didn't want to risk even taking a sip.
I have a wedding to go to Saturday for one of my old law school drinking buddies (a bunch of guys) so I KNOW i'm going to get some major crap for not drinking. I may just have to tell them I'm pregnant, as I used to tease them all the time about how I could outdrink them--which resulted in three empty bottles of whiskey at my wedding and some very bad hangovers.
Guinness
09-01-2005, 01:57 PM
We sound like we came from similar cookie jars. I can always outdrink friends (guys and gals), and haven't ever seen a drink I didn't like. So going to a wine bar with a tiny bit of wine in my glass (I would wet me teeth every once in a while), and still left that saying I didn't like it . . . right  My mom told me that even if it was obvious, people usually won't say anything until you tell them, then it will all make sense :) .

We've been trying for 22 months, unblocked a tube, took medication and shots. I had 2 BFNs with HPTs before my bloodwork showed a 'low' HCG level of 23 on Monday. My second betas were 63, so we're headed in the right direction! I have antibody issues, so I will be monitored closely until about 12 weeks. I am so happy to be here and looking forward to getting to know everyone!
QOTD O.k, it was a few days ago, but I want to play from the beginning ;) Symptoms not too many, feeling a little icky, twinges, nips hurt periodically. HPTs 3 - 2 were BFNs, had to take another after the bloodwork to make sure I hadn't dreamed it!
smiles33 I have been taking time off consistantly (or coming in late/leaving early) for many RE appointments, so I know how you feel. It's awful lying to people. But there are enough excuses (doctor, dentist, in-laws, emergency at home, etc) that have kept me busy.

Guinness, your mom's advice/observation makes sense. Wouldn't it be embarrassing to assume someone was pregnant and then be wrong?
MMHinCA, I bought it from www.littledragonflies.com but I got the last one! I actually ordered 2, one for DH's other grandma but they only had 1 left.

Guinness and smiles, ITA about hating having to lie to people! And I'm so afraid I'm going to slip!
It hasn't been too hard not telling people at work, but I'm starting to get icky pulling feelings when I'm lifting heavy stuff. I don't want to ask someone else to do it without explaining why :( Kinda a conundrum there. But not telling my family is killing me! I know they'll be so excited, but that's exactly the problem. My brother and SIL are due with their first child any day now. I don't want to seem like I'm trying to steal the show when it's their turn, so we're trying to wait until after their child is baptized and all the parties are done before we announce. But it's so hard when their baby isn't even here yet! C'mon baby!

QOTD/Symptoms - None so far. I had horrible m/s with E. I'm still breast feeding, so no sore breasts this time either.
Telling people - we'll probably wait a bit. Last year I didn't drink a this huge outing we do with our friends (200+ people). I was 7 weeks along and we hadn't told our friends (but they suspected). The gathering is in 3 weeks and I'll be (hopefully) 7 weeks again.

so excitinng to see so many May mommies! I had a doctor's appt. on Wednesday for my initial bloodwork (b/c of a previous m/c in April at 6.5 weeks), and I just got it back today: my HCG was 639 and my prog. was 34! My next doctor's appt. is on Sept. 15 for an ultrasound. (I cancelled my Sept. 6 appt.). I am so glad I am going in for an ultrasound then b/c it will be at almost the exact point in my last PG that I m/c. I am keeping my fingers crossed and saying my prayers for this one!
I have had pretty sore/tender nips and fuller boobs, as well as a good bit of fatigue. I am also SO hungry all of the time. Ugh. ;)
I have taken a ridiculous amt of PG tests, just for reasurrance!
I really want to tell my immediate family, but I don't know if we will. We are going out of town for a week next week with lots of friends and everyone knows how much I love my wine, so I am trying to figure out how to keep it quiet. I just hate telling friends this early, so I may just do the whole hold-the-glass-of-wine-and-pour-it-out-in-the-bathroom-occasionally trick.
My birthday is Sunday (31!) so I am so excited to be PG for this one. Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend!!!
I'm sure I'm probably just worrying for nothing, but I'm taking a one a day vitamin now, with just 400mcg of folic acid. Should I switch to to a prenatal? Or just add extra folic acid?
Also, my vitamin use was a little sporadic before TTC, so I wasn't taking anything before the week we were TTC, should I be worried?
Thanks!

Welcome to all the new May mommies!
QOTD I've told my immediate family and my two best girlfriends. DH has told everyone else in the free world. I told my dad and stepmom to keep it quiet until after my appointment on the 7th.
mrsk 800 mg of folic acid/day is what's recommended for pregnant women. If you want to switch your vitamin, I bought some prenatals at Target for around $7.00 that has 800 mg of folic acid in it. There are 200 pills in the bottle, which is almost enough for the entire pregnancy! Also, there are some foods that you can be eating with high amounts of folic acid. Leafy green veggies, OJ, and fortified breads and cereals all contain either folic acid or folate (folic acid is a synthetic version of folate which is more readily absorbed by the body). I wouldn't worry too much about not taking vitamins prior to your pregnancy. I think that by starting vitamins as soon as you found out, you're doing a great thing!
kristin9903 thanks for the quick reply. I'll check out those Target prenatals.
Guinness
09-02-2005, 01:52 PM
Mrs. K. I just added an extra folic acid. I have seen others prefer that in case they at some point can't keep anything down, it is really small. Either way, I think you are fine starting as soon as you found out.
Welcome Bloomwood. We will be here to celebrate with you come Tuesday!
Thanks Guinness! I feel much better. Isn't it amazing how you can have almost no symptoms, yet already be so worried?
Mrst2001 have a great birthday!
And I hope all of the May 2006 Mommies have a great Labor Day weekend!

Forgive the intrusion, Congrats to all of you ladies. Hoping that I will be joining all of you in a few weeks.
Just wanted to mention that most OTC prenatals have 800mg of Folic Acid. I found the ones from Target to be rather big. I got my prenatals from Walmart, you take 2 caplets but that will equal the one big one of Targets. These prenatals from Walmart (OneSource) are like the size of an aspirin caplet.

Hi Everyone...been in meetings off and on at work this week so I haven't really been around....
Guiness Yes, I was charting for awhile and getting frustrated, so I took this last cycle off and got pg! So, I guess I technically didn't chart for the pg cycle so I didn't feel comfortable gradutating from that thread, I guess. Thanks for thinking of me :)
Smiles That is a really cute story about telling your grandparents...I bet their expressions were priceless
Caroline, Amanda and Melissa Welcome to the May thread! I'm so excited that this thread is growing :)
QOTD I've told DH, My mom and two friends at work. I feel really bad about not telling my bosses...but I had a m/c in Jan. and I don't want to go through "untelling" people again. I'm going to *try* to wait until I'm about 10 weeks....its sooo hard!
Congratulations bottleored ,marchfamily ,mrsk ,and Bloomwood! (Did I miss anybody?) :o
Mrst2001 -Have a wonderful birthday weekend!
QOTD -I'm going to try to keep it a secret until DD #2's birthday in October. DH and I would really like to announce it to both of our families together and in person. Since his mom lives out of state and is going to be in town for the birthday party we figured this would be the perfect opportunity. Truth be told, I'm not sure how I'll be able to hide it for 12 weeks. With baby #1 people at work didn't notice I was pregnant until I was around 18 weeks. With baby #2 people started noticing much sooner. Maybe 11- 12 weeks I started to get a little pooch? I'd guess that #3 would show around then as well since my stomach muscles are pretty shot from having 2 kids 16 months apart. We'll see. Oh yeah, the morning sickness was a pretty good give away last time, though maybe I'll be lucky enough to avoid it this go around. I can hide a belly with baggy clothes. Kind of hard to hide running to the bathrooom to be sick especially when I see my family a couple of times a week.
I had my appointment today. Had a whole bunch of bloodwork done-beta level and TSH levels checked, immunity to MMR, varicella, toxoplasmosis, and Fifth's disease checked. Don't really remember what else. I know I had more than the standard blood work up done, by my own choosing. Since my 3 year old will be attending pre-school next week I wanted to make sure that I'm immune to Fifths disease since it's a common childhood illness, and since my almost 2 year old will be getting her MMR vaccine and chicken pox vaccine soon I wanted to make sure I have immunity to those, as well.
I ended up having an ultrasound while I was there because I was worried about some pain I've been having in my side. He thinks it's a corpus luteum cyst. The good news was that we saw the sac. :) I have to go back in about two weeks to hopefully find a heartbeat. (Fingers crossed)

Happy Birthday Mrs. T!
Well we are off to visit DH's brother and family this weekend. Also two of his sisters are coming as well (he is the twin baby of 6). It will be the only family we get to tell in person, so we are excited. Seems a little early, but otherwise we won't see anyone until TG and Christmas and I thought that was just mean to wait that long. So hopefully this sticks.
I am also starting to feel a bit more m/s this last couple of days. No big deal if this is it, but I am afraid it is going to get worse. For those experienced mommies, if you got m/s when did it start?
Have a good weekend everybody. Hope to see lots of new May Mommies!

CONGRATS to all the new members! I can't believe we're on page 7 already...
QOTD: We've told our immediate family and DH's paternal grandparents. We wanted to do it in person, so we haven't told his maternal grandparents yet (they only live 1 hour away so it should happen soon) or my paternal grandmother who lives in Asia (so not sure when we're going to tell her). I want to wait until 12 weeks if possible, but I might tell my boss after my appointment on Tuesday, since I feel badly lying to her to take time off for another appointment on 9/15. Oh yeah, I'm going to a wedding tomorrow night so I probably will end up telling those friends if they pressure me to drink. I already told my friend, the groom, so he doesn't come by and make me take a shot with him. :)
Have a great Labor Day weekend ladies!

Since IndianaBride was the original host of this thread, I think that means no one can update it with info on new members (unless you're a Mod). Is there a Mod who is a May mommy who can take over this thread?
Or, in the alternative, can someone else volunteer to take on the responsibility of managing a new thread? I'm usually only here on weekends (besides quick 5-10 minute visits during the week) and am unable to manage on my own, but if there was some way for 2 people to share the duties of updating info, I'd be happy to split the duties with someone.
