Favor for B-day party

I am starting to plan DH's 40th b-day party. For one of the favors I am getting pens with this phrase on it: "I survived Jeff's 40th birthday bash..." I want to put a date on it too, but do I put his birthday on it, or the date of the party?

We did something similar for my MIL's 50th, except we did labels on mini bottles of wine. In any case, we had the very same problem and in the end, we went w/ her actual birth date. I don't know if we had a deciding factor, that's just what we decided to go with; plus, that date doesn't change, so god forbid you have to postpone the party at the last minute, the favors are still good.

Thanks, laura - You are the second person to say I should use his actual birthday. Good thought about the in case the party has to be changed- at least the pens won't go to waste with the wrong date on them.
