I've always wanted to go Greece and Italy, BUT
if you know anything about me you know:
I love to travel
I love to scuba/snorkel
I love sharks
I have been shark cage diving and done free dives with sharks, but my dream is to cage dive with the Great Whites. I really want to go to Seal Island off the coast of South Africa where the Great Whites have been recorded breaching. But I just read about one that is a 5 day trip off the coast of California. My mom and dad were in town and I did a search and was so excited. LOL the catch is I would like someone to go with me. SO will do a lot of things for me, but I doubt he'll get into a cage to dive with Great Whites. So the dream is Seal Island, but I wouldn't decline the California trip! :)
How about you? What is your dream trip? Adventure? Relaxation? Cold? Hot?
Do tell! :)

Mine is to circumnavigate the globe in a sailboat with my husband - this is what we plan to do when we retire.
So I guess that encompasses adventure, relaxation, cold, hot and WET. ;)
I have seen footage of those great whites breaching - that is crazy! I would love to do that too. Maybe while we are sailing around the Cape of Good Horn. :p

When I lived in Seattle, the former "big boss" of the company did that! He would send a newsletter every month of where he and his wife were. It was so cool to read. They would write all about where they were, their boat, how long they sailed to get to their destination, the weather...
LOL I'll wave to you from the Cape!

DH and I are taking our dream trip later this year! We're going to South Africa! I'm soooo excited! We're going on a few safari's and then spend some time in CapeTown and the wine country. And since we can't make our connecting flight in The Netherlands, we decided to stay a few extra days in Europe (DH has never been)! Wooowee!
Second dream trip, go to China. :)
Hi Heather!!!! It's me, allisonmay!

A trip around the world for me. I'd like to travel by air (http://airtreks.com/), train and perhaps ship.
I'm not sure exactly where I'd like to stop on my trip, but something like this "sample itinerary" sounds pretty good: NYC - London - Istanbul - Cairo - Nairobi - Johannesburg - Cape Town - Mumbai (Bombay) - Kathmandu - Bangkok - Singapore - Sydney - Auckland - Nadi (Fiji Is.) - Rarotonga (Cook Is.) - Los Angeles - NYC

That is so cool, Jess! Thanks for the link, LOL I've been playing with it since I went to the website.
Courtney I've always wanted to do that too-over the water bungalow. Aaaah. I am daydreaming about it right now LOL.

I used that Airtreks trip planner soooooo many times before we went on our trip around the world! We didn't end up using them because we realized it would be cheaper to buy tickets as we went, and we didn't really fly very much (we went overland from Malaysia to Italy). But I love that map, they way it connects the dots for you - fun way to kill time at work! ;)
ETA - I just did our actual route on the Airtreks planner, just the cities we visited by plane. It was $4100 - $5000. I would have to double check, but I believe we spent about half of that on flights. Maybe a little more than half, around $3000. That was fun, looking at the dots on the map! :)

My entire life my dream trip was going to Greece......we finally went about 3 yrs ago and it was absolutely the best trip I've ever taken. We travel a lot and keep trying to come up w/ a place that we're "dying" to go to and honestly, all we can think about is going back to Greece! ;) The one thing I've been itching to do lately though is to spend a couple weeks on a boat touring the Caribbean.
Oh, and if money were no object whatsoever...I've love to spend a year on this ship circling the globe......www.residensea.com

dreamgirly <sigh> All of those places are dreamy! (no pun intended)
Jen I love your Avatar (I am Charmed fan!) I've wanted to go to Greece since the 8th grade. It is also a dream trip for me. I've studied Greek History in school (not my major, though) and want to learn Greek. The history and culture just fascinates me. I am *so* envious. ;) BTW, my SO's name is Todd too. :D
Kristi Another lady for Greece. I've been to Ireland and your DH would love it. The people are so wonderful and the country itself is just stunning. I have a friend from Scotland and her pics are always so pretty. I hope to get there someday. I hope you go to all three places!
Leslie That is so awesome. When do you leave?
May I just repeat myself, if any of you ladies need a chaperone on your trips I would happily volunteer my services to carry your luggage around LOL! ;)

Does an around-the-world trip count? I really just can't choose one destination. We're currently trying to plan a 7-month trip and are having a very difficult time deciding on places to visit. The problem is that we have way too many places we want to go to but we want to spend a lot of time in each one. I think I'd need 5 years of straight travel time just to visit all the places I'd like to go to.
The true "dream" trip would probably be climbing Mt. Everest. But that ain't never gonna happen 'cuz I'm too much of a wimp. The top do-able destinations are probably Bhutan and Tibet. I'd also really like to do a silk route journey from China, through Central Asia, and into Turkey. Oh, and I *really* want to see the mountain gorillas in Rwanda/Uganda. You see why this is difficult?
HeatherFL - I had no idea you were a shark fan. Cage diving with great whites is just about the scariest thing in the world to me. But that's very cool that you might get to do it!

Leslie That is so awesome. When do you leave?
We haven't booked anything yet, but the plan is to go late April/early May, probably for 3 weeks b.c there's so many places to go-London, Bristol (Paul's cousin will be living there), Paris, Loire Valley, Switzerland (Paul has family there), Venice, Florence, Rome and San Benedetto (almost directly east of Rome, on the coast-Paul has family there and in Quintdecimo, which we will also go to). I am SO excited.

I am really more of a relaxing vacationer, but I am sad that I 'missed out' on traveling around Europe after college. I sort of feel like that's one of those things that the time has passed for, but it would be fun to do it "in style" now I guess - just a different type of experience. I am, however, 'over' hostels and the rest of the cheap student ways to travel! Still - I certainly wouldn't turn down 6 months traveling around Europe.
My other dream trips:
Tahiti (Bora Bora, Moorea, I think)
Australia/New Zealand
Secheyelles (sp?)
Fiji
Not necessarily in that order. I might realize Tahiti, but I probably won't do the other 3. I haven't decided yet if I'm okay with that or not, but there are worse things in life to accept, so I must keep things in perspective.

Before I die, I will get over my fear of flying so I can:
Go to my own country Puerto Rico and see EVERYTHING.
Go to Ireland, Scotland and Wales and visit all the castles and the Highlands.
Go to Spain
GO to Japan and see where my husband grew up.

I have visited my ulimate spots of Puerto Rico {hubby's family history}, England{my family history}, and the Tahiti Islands {Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora, and Taha'a} we stayed in overwater bungalows there for our honeymoon. I have seen many other great places, but those that are still on my *must see* list:
Antarctica ---thousands of penguins, seals, whales and albatross thriving in a land as remote as this one-a place we characterize as an inhospitable environment.
South Africa A Safari just like my pal Allison---so envious girl! :p
Egypt

I studied some Greek history too which is why I wanted to go so bad! Well, that and seeing pics of the crisp white buildings w/ bright blue tops overlooking the caldera in Santorini. It's so amazing! You MUST go! And if I go back soon you can certainly chaperone. ;)
Yay for Todd's, Heather!! "Todd" is a good name....it just has a good aura about it. I've known a few Todd's in my life and they have all been "good guys". I must admit that I followed your story a bit over at WC and I have to congratulate you on the happiness and peace that you seem to have found! :D
Oh yah, and I'm a Charmed fan too but actually, the pic is of Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode. I'm freakishly too excited that they have a new disc coming out in Oct. he-he! ;)
And if I may, I wanted to add England to my list. I've actually been several times b/c my mom is British but it's actually my dream to live there one day.....or to travel there at least once a year.
