jmvan74 uggh poor guy! And poor you! Hopefully you'll get a break.
kim Good luck with house hunting! I loved when we got to go in to other people's homes and see how they decorated (and what was in their medicine cabinents;) )
Food - Since Rhiley only has one tooth in I have only fed her scrambled egg whites, some Gerber puffs, mashed potatoes and yogurt. She does grab for the spoon and will wipe her mouth on her sleeve. I am planning on trying out some whole milk in the coming days because I want to be done with the formula on her first birthday (June 1!!) In any event the puffs tend to fall in her high chair and stick to her clothes, the eggs wind up in her hair....
Ferris - I love those push bikes. Good to have an alternative to the stroller. I don't know what I would have done in the early days had Rhiley not liked her stroller - those walks saved my sanity!!
I am planning to visit my sister next month who lives close to the city. I am such a dork - I'm planning on doing the whole tourist thing. One would think I've never been to the city before - but I guess I'm more exctied about getting away for a bit and having some "me" time before the new baby comes.

Ugh.
Last night Thomas had me up from 2-4am...then up at 6am but I made DH take him for 20 minutes. I thought he had an ear infection, so I made a Ped appointment.
He refused to nap more than 30 minutes this morning (he usually does 1 1/2-2 hours) so I moved up the appointment to 11am. Turns out he had some wax in his ears and his upper teeth are coming. The wax made his ears itchy/irritated, so the Ped scraped it out. DS was screaming at the second ear, and it was bleeding a little when he did it. :( My poor boy. He's finally napping - felt good enough for baby yoga and playing ith his buddies wore him out. We'll see how long he goes...I may go lay down too.

kelsey ~ Thanks. Nat sent me a PM. My mom is going to be getting a convertible carseat to have in her vehicle because there are times she babysits or we go in her vehicle. We decided not to get a second seat for DH's car because we rarely all go anywhere in his car now.
Ferris ~ Those push bikes are cute. The one that folds up is really nice for storage. I like that the first one has a strap to secure the child in the seat.
Julie ~ Thanks. I'm sorry that Collin is still feeling bad. I sure hope he starts feeling better soon. Having a sick little one is not much fun.
Roseanne ~ I hope no one says anything about the stroller be illegally parked. I can't imagine having to go down 3 flights of stairs everytime I want to go outside. I sometimes have trouble with the 3/4 steps we have to out the backdoor.
hub ~ Enjoy your trip.
kim ~ Hugs to you and Thomas. That sounds like it was painful.

We have got more walking while holding onto things.
We spent the morning looking for items related to her birthday party. My mom still thinks that we should do the Winnie the Pooh theme. The other day I got a birthday supply catalog in the mail (finally after I had to request it three times). DH loved the horse theme that was on the cover. And when I was talking to him about themes for S's party he mentioned the horse. I said you really want a horse theme for her first birthday? He then said no but at one point don't you want to do that theme. I said yes but I just didn't want it for her first.
I've found some really cute Pooh cakes. I'm still torn as what to do (the Pooh theme or the red, white, blue theme). We already bought the cake decorations (Pooh and Tigger figurines)

Thanks Everyone! Collin seems to be feeling a little better today and he slept through the night. Thank goodness. Of course, my throat is scratchy and my eyes and ears hurt. Just can't win this week.
Hub: Have fun on your mini get away. I'm thinking about whole milk, too. I think I'll start in a week or two with just an oz or so mixed with formula.
Kim: I hope Thomas is doing better today. The ped told me Collin had a lot of wax and gave me ear drops to loosen it up. I bet that is causing a lot of his pain b/c his top teeth are coming in, too. :(
Meri: If you've already got some stuff for a pooh party then go with it. You will have plenty more birthdays to use the red, white and blue theme. ;)

Julie ~ Poor Collin, poor poor Julie! I hope the meds help him feel like normal today. I usually tell people 24 hrs on antibiotics before they feel better. I'm so sorry you are now feeling sick! A lot of ear infections start as colds that don't drain well and the fluid gets infected. So maybe you are catching what Collin had originally. Maybe your DH can sneak away a little early again today so you can have some personal rest time. If not, there's always the wine ;)
Hub ~ Yeah for the mini - break! Sounds like your Rhiley will be walking any minute. I totally think the walkers are over-villified and safe if used carefully. And perfect for babies who love to walk like Rhiley.
Kim ~ I really recommend those at-home wax kits. It saves a lot of kids from the painful ped-ear-wax-scrape. Can I just say that I'm jealous of Thomas' lunch. Do you cater?
Meri ~ I am changing my vote with agree with Julie. Go with Pooh if you already have all the stuff. Her birthday will always be near the 4th so you can pull that theme out next year. Maybe even buy some 4th of July stuff on clearance this year.
Roseanne ~Illegal stroller parking? Only a single person with no kids who has never lugged a crying, hungry baby, diaper bag, stack of mail and two bags of groceries while fumbling for their house key would complain about illegal stroller parking!

Hi all!
I'm at work (exhausted and can't concentrate). didn't sleep well b/c ben was coughing in his sleep allnight..runny nose and teething related stuff, i think.
We ended up not going for the second opinion. My ped said it was an 'innocent' murmur and then the cardiologist found the same thing by doing more extensive testing. Of course i'll always have her listen for it when we go back there but i am not really concerned. Thanks for all the support.
I played catch-up....CONGRATS HUB and Sophia on the pregnancies. That's great. My relationship with DH has definately changes since the baby was born..we lost our intimacy and are trying to regain what we once had. Allother aspects of our marriage are ok but that is the one thing that has suffered. Its a libido thing, exhaustion thing new mommy thing..not sure..is anyone else in this position? DH did mention a few months ago that he wanted us to think about trying for our second in a few months but how could we when we haven't yet 'reconnected'. Anyway, i'm being analytical but that's me.
Busy planning the first birthday - Baby Einstein Theme.
DS was 'hired' by huggies to do a print ad photo shoot which was quite the experience for us all. There were a few kids selected so i'm doubtful that his shoot will actually be the add that runs. If it does, then yay, he gets $$ for college!. Anyway, that's my update.
Regarding ear wax (i'm an audiologist) be careful. Debrox is fine to use in the ears but i would let the ped or a ped ENT be the only one who removes the wax. You would be surprised what damage can be done by trying to do it yourself.

LMAO! No, but I can admit that my kid eats better than DH & I do.
Thanks for all the kind thoughts - Thomas seems to be feeling better.
I was too, until I came home to my broken ice maker and a flooded kitchen that leaked through my walls to downstairs. Ugh. Can I PLEASE have a day off from drama soon? Pretty please?

Umm, woah! You can't say something like that and then start talking about ear wax. How was Ben hired, when did you do the shoot, what was craft services like and how can I get Alexa's college paid for, too? :D

Kelsey~Maybe she will like to vacuum for you when she's older! That would be awesome!!! :D DH picks on me because I'm not a neat freak by any means, and he says that DD will start telling me to pick up after myself before long! LOL!
Julie~How's Colling feeling? Hope he is doing better!
Kim~Poor Thomas. :( Poor you about the ice maker!
Meri~I agree that if you already have the Pooh decor, to go with that. I think the 4th of July party would be soooooo much fun, though, so I'd definately save that idea for a future party! ;)
MrsChappy~No advice but I can totally sympathize with the intimacy frustrations.
Ugh! We've been suffering from allergies here! :( I think I'm going to take a nap because the sneezing and itchy eyes are completely draining me.

yeah, what Sophia said. :p
As for the earwax... is aurodex the same as Debrox? I am putting these drops in his ears 3 times a day. I'm not sticking anything in his ears or anything. It seems to be helping b/c I've been cleaning a lot of wax out the earlobe area.
Thanks Naamah, Collin is doing much better today, but still not quite himself.
Maggie, Thanks for reminding me about the wine. I really need to make this a nightly habit. ;)
Kim, That totally sucks about the broken ice maker. If it's not one thing it's another.

Julie ~ Glad to hear Collin is feeling better. Hope that you are feeling better soon. Could yours be allergies? Thanks. The only thing we really have is the cake topper figurines because the stuffed animals and Pooh things in DD's room already.
kelsey ~ Thanks. See my comments about the items we already have above. We do BBQ/cookouts in the summer a lot but usually don't do themes/decorating for those....well, other than the 4th of July when we usually have some decorations out.
Mrs.Chappy ~ I've found a couple of Baby Einstein cakes while searching for birthday cakes the other day. One of them was the caterpillar. Let me know if you'd like me to post them.
kim ~ Oh, that just sounds like a real mess. I'm so sorry. {{{HUGS}}}.
Naamah ~ Thanks. Sorry for the allergies acting up. I'm sure that mine will kick into high gear soon enough. I tend to keep myself away from a certain bush that makes me just miserable. It's pretty in bloom but I just can't be anywhere around them.
___________________________________________
DD did pretty good during the service today. She did get fussy towards the end but she was wanting to eat and was tired of sitting for an hour. Thankfully everyone was okay with her crying and talking during the service. I want to find out the 2 songs that they played during the service. One was Brad Paisley's duet with Dolly Parton (it fit my uncle to a T) and the other one I'd heard but don't know who sings it or the name of it.
I'm not looking forward to tonight. As I've mentioned before, DH plays on a pool league and the team wasn't going to play this summer. Well a few nights ago they call and guess what? That's right they are going to play this summer. I was looking forward to not smelling like a smoke factory (sorry to offend anyone who smokes) but I just hate smelling like that (and I used to live with someone who did smoke. So greatful that he quit and I thank God everyday that he did.). Plus I was looking forward to being able to do whatever we wanted this summer (work around here and get things done that need to be done, go on walks in the evenings, visit family, etc). And my major thing is that they never seem to get it in there heads that DH needs to play the first match so we can go and get DD picked up and to bed. No instead it's always that last match of the evening (which doesn't start until after 10 usually) and we don't get home til after 11. Then I spend the next couple of hours trying to get her to sleep and not go to sleep myself in the process. It just irks me to no end. I get so sick of hearing that they have to play this match because they have to be up by 5 am. Well, I have a child to get to bed and my mom doesn't appreciate having to stay until because she has to be at work by 6 (as does DH on some days). But it seems we have to tell them it every week and then it doesn't do any good. I feel like I'm hitting my head against a brick wall.

Ack! I’m so far behind! What is with all of the ear infections in here. Poor little babies. Yes, Sophia is right. We’ve had a share of EI’s. 3 since she’s been born. :( Usually after a couple of days on antibiotics, you’ll start to see a difference. We never had to use drops, just the antibiotics. Hope everyone feels better soon.
WE’VE GOT OUR FIRST TOOTH! Stuck my finger in her gum last night and sure enough, there it was!
Sex
Not happening in our household either, so don't feel bad. Seriously, we're lucky if we do it once a month. At this rate, there will be no more kids. LOL!

Meri: I'm pretty sure I'm feeling crappy b/c of allergies. It's that time of year again. Sorry that your DH is going to be playing pool again this summer. If I were you, I'd let him go alone. There's no way I'd sit in a smoke filled room just to watch DH do something. Besides, the smoke gets in to your clothes and then you bring it back to Sarah. Yuck. Sorry, I have really strong opinions about smoking. I can't beleive that most states still allow smoking in public places. I lived in DE and it was great b/c there was no smoking indoors (not in bars, restaurants or anything). It was great. MD is on the verge of passing the law. I know CA, NY and at least parts of MA have also complied.
Hi Liz. I think the antibiotics have finally kicked in. congrats on the tooth!
Yesterday was the best we've had so far. Collin seems to be feeling better each day, but he is still so snotty! I wish the rest of those teeth would break through.
sex: It must be b/c I had a c/sec b/c we've been pretty busy since my 6 week appt. :o

Hey Liz. Congrats on the tooth!
Sex-If we hadn't been TTC, I would have been just as happy with a snuggle and the remote control. ~snicker~
Alexa got another tooth last night. She seemed to have gotten a flurry of teeth all at once but then stalled with three on top and two on the bottom. It looked sort of silly, really. She finally got the fourth tooth in on top so hopefully her smile will even out a bit. Like this: :D LOL

USA: yes i think i saw that catepillar cake..i'm going to attempt it..how hard can it be..(i'm so not creative).
As for the Huggies thing. I went to this luncheon for new mommies back in nov..there was a talent agent speaker..i left a pic of the baby with them (i ran out of there b/c i was not feeling well from the flu shot). DH encouraged me to go and meet new moms. The agency called, said they had interest in DS. Sent me a folder of info..i decided not to sign the contract b/c i was returning to work part time and did not want to commit. Didn't hear from them until dec/jan..took DS on one or two auditions (huggies commercial and angelsoft print ad) he got the huggies callback but didn't get the job. i felt the rejection for him, didn't like the competiveness of the moms and said i would not let this interfere w/ my work. Turned down a few other auditions (Johnson and Johnson and others). Didn't hear again from the agency until last week. DH was home on 'vacation' and took him to the audition (mommy was working). he got the call back - was a day i wasn't working, then got the shoot - also a day i didn't work...it was crazy,..they sched. it during his nap time after asking us when he naps. As i said, it was quite the experience...slight chance of his ad running but either way, its something for the baby book. That's our excitement. Now he has a cold (pretty sure its from sucking on another kids paci at the shoot). i wasn't quick enough! Anyway, that's my spiel! One day i'll tell him all about it.
I havent heard of aurodex..Debrox sends us all the samples which is w hy i know them. If you are in doubt., ask your ped. as long as you are not digging in there w/ a q-tip then its fine.

Sex: Heh. Asher sleeps in our bed. And our other choices of location would be the futon or the floor. Factor in exhaustion and lack of libido, and I do wonder if Asher'll ever get a sibling.
Mrs. Chappy: That's cool about the commercial. I've sent out Asher's picture to agencies a couple of times, but never got any response.

Meri- Ill agree with Julie on staying home. I think as our DC get older, they are less flexible to late nights (at least my DD is). They need their usual routine or act like total grumps the next day. Do DH's friends have children? I'm guessing not or they don't bring them. Maybe you could go once or twice without DD to support DH as a special treat? Tough situation. Glad that Sarah did so well during the service. I'm sure having her there really helped some of the grieving relatives.
Liz - Horrary for Caroline's tooth! Hopefully, she's feeling better today. Way to go on all the daycare food. She definitely seems to be eating a larger variety than she did of the jarred stuff. Girl just has discriminating tastes!
Julie - I am also a big fan of prohibited smoking in common public places. That was the first thing I noticed about Vegas (okay, after the slot machines in the airport terminals). Smoking EVERYWHERE. The "no smoking" sections of restaurants are total jokes- no separate ventilation systems or anything. Even North Carolina has tighter laws than that, and tobacco has been our $$$ cash crop forever. So glad to hear Collin is finally feeling better.
Mrs. Chappy - Congrats for Ben! You will definitely have to let us know if he ends up on TV so we can look for him.
Sex - It must a C/S thing cause there's very little going on at our house either. Glad to know we're not the only ones ;)

Oh, forgot to mention that today is my first day since DD's birth that I am not pumping/feeding at lunchtime. DD is eating so much regular food at DC that she doesn't want her noon bottle. So I am dropping my noon pumping session and just sticking with early AM and evening. I am so glad for the freedom to eat with both hands (and post on CC), but part of me is also sad b/c I know this is the start of our weaning process. Watching DD grow from an infant into a toddler is so bittersweet.

I'm behind already! Here are a few shout outs:
maggie Got your check-thanks! :) I'm a HUGE fan of non smoking laws. Dallas passed a law a year or so ago that all restaurants have to be non smoking. But if there's a bar in the restaurant then that law doesn't apply. I love Bennigan's but I hate going there because it is so smoky!
mrs.chappy Very cool about the commercial! let us know if his ad comes out so we can all go by the huggies and have your DS autograph them! ;)
sex Yah, not so much over here either. We're both really tired all the time. It happens about once a week........but I'm sure when we're ready for #2 we'll find the time and energy!
liz and sophia Yeah for new teeth!
We had a little playgroup over here this morning and had so much fun! Addie finally laid down for a nap, so I'm off to lay down too!

maggie and any other pumping moms WAY TO GO! Let me just say that I am amazed that you pump every day and have done it for almost 11 months. That is quite an accomplishment. I get mad when I have to pump to leave milk with DD when my parents watch her. I can't imagine doing it everyday. I'm already getting sad about weaning too! Late last night DH and I were watching that show "Yes, Dear" and one couple on the show has a baby about a year old. The husband thought the wife had weaned the baby and in the middle of the night he "caught" her nursing the baby. The husband told the wife that he understood how it was hard for her to stop nursing because it meant that the baby didn't "need" her as much anymore, etc. The wife said, "no I'm doing it for the big boobs" DH and I were cracking up! LOL

Maggie,
Wwoo! Hoo! Congrats on dropping a session. I'm down to 4 myself. It's a lot easier to manage that way. I know what you mean. I feel sad when I think of weaning Caroline in 1.5 months.
Thanks everyone for congratulating Caroline on her tooth. Were all Moms this smitten with their child’s first tooth? I feel like carrying pictures of it in my wallet.

Liz ~ Congrats on Caroline's first tooth!
Julie ~ Thanks. I like to go because sometimes it's my only time alone from Sarah. We always go home before we go pick Sarah up so we can change clothes. There are a few restaurants around here that have no smoking laws in place. I hate having to go to a restaurant and sitting next to someone that is smoking one right after another or having to walk through the smoking section to go to our table or the bathroom. Why do I have to punish myself to simply go out to eat or go to the bathroom?
Sophia ~ Congrats on the new tooth! How many does Alexa have now?
Mrs.Chappy ~ I can post the one I found. It looked like circles for the individual sections of the catepillar. Pretty interesting about the commercial.
kelsey ~ No, the other people on the team are either single or their children are grown. I guess I wouldn't mind things so much if they wouldn't have to be told every single week that we have to be done by 10 at the latest. Even on the nights that DH's class meets on Thursdays (it a DVD class and they meet to take tests about once a month this semester) he still has to go and play those nights because they haven't made arrangements to have someone else play. One more than one night it's been after midnight when he gets done.
That was the first thing I noticed about Vegas (okay, after the slot machines in the airport terminals). Smoking EVERYWHERE. The "no smoking" sections of restaurants are total jokes- no separate ventilation systems or anything.
Oh, don't tell me that. I do have allergies to smoke (which is one reason that DH quit plus he didn't want to smoke around our kids). I was 7 months pregnant and had went with DH to one of class reunion planning meetings and had to sit near a guy who chained smoke. It was one right after another and blew it directly in my direction. It was as if he didn't give a care that I was pregnant. I'd asked him to blow it in another direction away from me but that went in one ear and out the other. Finally DH asked him to move or blow the smoke away from me since I was pregnant. He never did so finally the five of us decided to end the meeting because everyone else was not liking the amount of smoke either. That's one of the reasons that none of us wanted to have an event for the reunion there (the owner of the place wanted to have the Friday night get together there but didn't want to shut it down for just the class). It gets pretty crowded in there on certain nights and isn't all that big to start with. I already told DH that if they had it there I wouldn't be going.
Liz ~ Were all Moms this smitten with their child’s first tooth? I feel like carrying pictures in my wallet.
Yes. It's a sign that our little one's are growing up and not babies anymore. Plus it's an accomplishment and all parents like to brag about their children and their accomplishments.

pumpingI just stopped my afternoon pump session and only pump before I go to work. (but I do nurse him 3 times a day) My DS was just out eating me and I got tired of having to pump when someone else was working on her side of the classroom!! I have had to buy 3 conatiners of formula this last month and can't believe how expensive they are!! People kept telling me now expensive babies were and I didn't think so until I had to buy formula! All we had really been buying were wipes and diapers!
Walking!! Dougie took 3 steps towards me yesterday!! And it was on our front lawn which is a big hill, go figure! He can't walk on flat ground, but can walk up hill! He is so excited when he does it!!
Anger Boy has he been showing his temper! Today his cousin tried to take his toy phone and he streamed and make a growling type noise! I can't wait till the terrible 2's!!
birthday party invites are all mailed out!! I can't believe he will be 1 year old in 4 weeks!!
Kim Love the tooth!! :)

Dougie Walks
Congrats!
Walker Recc?
I think its time to get Thomas something for him to push/walk with but it'd only be for indoors on my carpeted floor. And it can't be too big, since we are in an apartment. Any suggestions?
I was thinking somethig like this Baby Steps Activity Walker by Chicco, but don't know anyone with it:
http://www.chicco.com/imgs/00_065261_000_000.jpg
I know LeapFrog has one like it, but it got terrible reviews on Amazon for falling apart...
My Little Bad Ass
Well, it's official: Thomas is a boy! He has his first black eye  . He tried to hug the head of his inflatable duck tub while INSIDE it and did this flip-around-bash-face-on-hard-tub crash that left him with a cut next to his eye and a lovely red & purple black eye.
Tom says Thomas did it on purpose since I said I was going to dress him in a "cutesy" outfit today for his girlfriend's 1st bday party, and he wanted to look tough so no one would mess with his girl.

Kim Oh No! You must have been horrified! We have the ducky tub and although Rhiley tries she can't quite figure out how to pull herself up in it, so she gets mad and starts beating the duck's head:rolleyes:
Ferris Yay for steps!
USAwife I love, love, love that New York is smoke free. I used to dread going to resturants because of the smoke(and the stuffy nose and runny eyes I would get). I do forget that we are one of the few states with the ban though and have to remember not to glare at people when we are in other places and they are smoking in public:o
teeth Rhiley has two on the bottom, but anytime you try to open her mouth she wants to bite or lick, so no pictures. Last night she slept from 7:40 until 6:45 this morning, after a week of waking up at least twice - so I'm keeping fingers crossed that she's feeling better for the moment...
sex I've forgotten how.....seriously I would much rather sleep.
Birthday party How big are you planning your DC's party to be? We plan on only inviting immediate family, and we're not really going with any specific themes (except all things pink!) Ane we haven't even done invitations yet...starting to feel guilty...
Pictures What site do you use to post pics? I was using Shutterfly but I can't anymore.

Ferris,
Congrats on the steps! Wow, I can't believe it. Wasn't it just a few short months ago that I was eagerly awaiting an email announcing his birth? He can't be walking already!
Kim,
Poor Thomas! LMAO at the "tough guy" look. LOL!
Hub,
I upload my pictures to Snapfish (http://www.snapfish.com/)
Push Toys
At dc, they have the Little Tykes Wide Tracker Activity Walker, the kids really seem to like it:

Ugh! Dean has been laying in his crib "talking" for the past 45 minutes! I know that kid is tired, why won't he go to sleep!? You ladies will distract me, right? :)
Teeth- We name all of Dean's teeth and refer to them as such. The two bottom teeth are Frederick and Reggie. The mean top tooth that is currently making my baby grumpy is named Danny :) :p :p
Ferris- Congrats on finishing your thesis!! My dissertation is about women's career choices. I am looking at why women are concentrated in jobs like teaching, secretarial work, etc. I investigate whether this is because these jobs better allow them to combine work and family or if they suffer from discrimination. I find that it is largely due to combining work and family.

Mrs.Chappy ~ Okay, posting the picture doesn't work. In the box chose First Birthday and then hit search. In the second row is the caterpillar cake.
Cakes (http://www.cakes.com/search/index.cfm?fuseaction=cakes.search)
kim ~ Cute picture. I would have one of Sarah's teeth if she would only keep her mouth open long enough for me to get a picture of them. Somehow by the time I get the picture taken her mouth is closed. Sorry to hear about Thomas' black eye.
Ferris ~ Congrats on Dougie walking! And yay for getting the birthday invites out. I can't believe that it's already been a year since our little ones started making their arrivals. I need to get working on Sarah's invites.
hub ~ I use Snapfish and Photobucket. Speaking of a glare from people smoking we got one last night while we were out eating. None of the four could have been over 18 as the two girls had jackets that the local high school baseball team has. Two of them sat down and immediately lit up. The other two at least sat down and took their jackets off before they lit up. I made a comment about couldn't you at least take your jacket off before lighting up and got a very bad look from the girl who lit up as soon as she sat down. I hate to sit in smoking with DD but that's where we got sat even though we'd asked for a non-smoking table. Oh well, that was only my second irk of the night there. The first one was that when we went in no one would get up and offer to let me sit since I was holding DD. I got the same thing when I was pregnant, no one would offer to get up and let me sit. Here I was pregnant, very swollen and only allowed to be on my feet for a certain amount of time each day and would anyone offer to give up their seat?? Nope. Over Memorial Day weekend last year our town has a celebration and there is a parade. DH and I went to it even though I was uncomfortable, having contractions, and had trouble walking because of the swelling. We found a bench in the shade and before I was able to make my way to the bench two high school aged girls ran (yes, I do mean ran) straight in front of us to get to the bench first so they could sit down. I was none too happy, nor was my DH. He said some choice words as we walked past them and had to sit down on a bench in the direct sun. I just wish I knew what happened to having young kids having manners? I wasn't raised that way and neither will our children.
Birthday Party ~ We haven't narrowed or even finalized the guest list (though I've already crossed two people off that I was going to invite but that has to do with what happened on Thursday evening). I have a rather large extended family and don't know if I'll invite all of them or not. I'd like to invite a few of them but don't want to hurt anyone's feelings for not inviting them. Guess I should talk that over with mom to see what she says.
Megan ~ Your dissertation sounds very interesting. Most of the people who work in the field that I'm in are women. A portion of them work at home for various reasons (most due to having families or because of an ill family member).

Shoes Since Dougie's taking a few steps we decided to get him his first pair of shoes. We never bought him any before these pair!! anyways we got some cute size 5 stride rites stage 3 walkers. We bought them at nordstroms and they took a pic and gave him a bunny for his first pair of shoes.
we got these...of course not in pink, my DH would have KILLED me, they just didn't have the boy ones on the website. His are brown.

I am ording these onling since they can be worn in the water. We are going to be spending a new days at the beach this summer, plus they can be worn on our boat.

Kicking his cousin in the head!! My DS spend the 30 minute drive home from the mall using his new shoes to kick his sleeping the cousin in the head!! Everytime Dougie would kick him he would smile and laugh! I kept telling him no, but I think he enjoyed paying back his cousin for all the times he was hit!!
Megan Very interesting topic. I am a teacher and chose the profession because it would allow me to be home when my kids are home, plus spend the summers with them!! :)

I'm so far behind! It's been a crazy weekend. We spent Saturday afternoon at my nephew and niece's baseball games. Collin loved being around the kids. Then that evening I went to to a viewing for one of my best friend's dad. It was so sad. I can't imagine losing my dad right now. :( I was glad that I could be there for her, though. Today we did house stuff and I got a new digi camera. Hooray! I'll post an Easter pic of Collin after I catch up here.
Teeth: I can not get a picture of the teeth! Kim, That picture is adorable! hehe! Collin has 4 teeth fully in and the way his mouth is, I just can't see them unless he's laughing hysterically.
Meri: I'm sorry you have to deal with all the smoking. Hopefully, your state will come around. ;)
Birthday Party: Our guest list is close to 50, but honestly we are only expecting about 15-20 to come. I just wanted all of friends and family to be included since it's his first and I want to celebrate the fact that we survived. Nothing fancy, though. A bbq in the back yard.
Shoes: We have a pair of striderites. Collin prefers to be barefoot, but if we are playing outside, I put them on him.
Walking Toy: Collin has the little tykes one that Liz posted. He likes it. However, if DC's balance isn't too good, it can fall backwards on them. It's pretty light, though. Collin will push just about anything. We have hard wood floors, so everything slides...dining room chairs, laundry baskets, etc...

Thanks Liz! Everyone says he looks like Jason, but I think he's a good mix. He definiately has my eye shape and he squints when he smiles, just like his mommy. ;)
Well, I finally feel like I have my happy baby back! He has not been so fussy today and has been laughing like crazy. It seems most of the snot has dried up and he has just a little cough left. I can't beleive how many teeth he has. He has 4 that are fully in, 2 poked through this weekend and 2 more just below the surface.
Weaning: We are on our way. We are officially down to one nursing session a day (early morning) and he is on water and formual during the day. Next week, I'm going to start adding a little bit of whole milk! It's a little sad as most of you know, but it also feels so great! I'm actually going out to dinner with some girlfriends this week! Whoo hoo!!
ETA: I got my hair dyed this weekend. It is brown! Of course, I think that's what my natural color is these days. ;)

Wow Julie, Collin has gotten big! He looks so grown up now. Glad that he's feeling better.
Ferris, we need to get Alexa some shoes and I do like the pink Stride Rites. Maybe we'll check them out this weekend.
Megande-Interesting dissertation topic. I personally would give support to the discrimination theory. My industry is totally male dominated and I know that if I were a man I'd be alot further than I am now. ~sigh~ I figure at least I'm trailblazing so that it's easier for Alexa and the next generation.
Well, I went for an U/S today and saw my smudge. Do we all remember the smudge stage? ;) I'm quite proud of myself because I was able to spot the smudge without the doctor having to point it out to me. I am a "smudge expert" now!

Julie,
He's definitely got your eyes. Congrats on beginning the weaning process. I can't believe how close we are getting. Just this morning I was thinking to myself "Wow, only 6 more weeks of pumping!". Not "Wow...only 6 more weeks until DD's birthday!" LOL!
Sophia,
Yay! Congrats on the smudge! I bet s/he is beautiful! :D

Julie~Meri and I live in the same state, and I have been so envious of NY and other states on their no smoking stance!! I really wish KS would follow suit! ;) Cute pics! Glad Collin is feeling better!

Birthday Question~What all are you doing yourselves? Are you making/purchasing decorations? What about the cake?

Walking toys: We've got the Fisher price Laugh & Learn Stride-to-Ride Learning Walker. DS enjoys turning the steering wheel, opening and closing the "engine" hood and putting the shapes through the openings and of course pushing it (though he tends to "walk" with it on his knees instead of standing up). The one downside is that it does move forward quicker than DS walks...which is why I think he prefers to be on his knees with it.
DS loves the music it makes (but it doesn't take much...he starts dancing to almost any music) We had a 5 year old over recently and he sat on it and started riding around on it.
Though, honestly, a laundry basket provides pretty much the same amusement (with the exception of the music)
http://www.fisher-price.com/us/img/product_shots/H6372_b_1.jpg
We have friends who have the Little Tikes one posted and their DC did pull it on himself when he was first trying to use it.
Since I haven't posted in a while...Congratulations Sophia!. We called the first u/s our inkblot with DS
Megande: Your dissertation sounds like it would be interesting reading. My undergrad degree is in sociology and I really enjoyed a class I took on Women and Work. Of course, I ended up working in a completely different field/industry (computer industry). While it is a male dominated field and feel like I was well respected for my work, I wouldn't have been able to continue working the way I had AND have the time with my family that I wanted. I did work less hours the 3 months that I was back at work and coworkers and management seemed fine with it, but it was also a slow period and I felt torn between work and family.

Julie ~ Collin is so cute! I definitely agree that he has your eyes and such a sweet smile. Was his little outfit from CP? I thought I saw that cute sweater there. So glad to hear he is feeling well again. Is your cold/allergies getting better?
Ferris ~ Really cute shoes! We are still doing the Robeez, as Ava doesn't take any steps. Were you pleased with how they fit DS's feet at Stride Rite? Since neither DH nor I have any shoe-fitting knowledge, I think we should go there as well.
Sophia ~ Congrats on smudge!! Do you have a gender prediction?
Naamah ~ I didn't know you and Meri were both in Kansas. I guess I knew mid-west, but hmm. Are you near each other?
Walking toy ~ Ava's DC has a different walker. I will try to find a photo, can't remember which brand. She doesn't use it at all, but all the standing/walking babies seem to love it. Seems pretty sturdy.
Okay, I am thinking it is this one, but now I know I have not been paying enough attention!
http://www.leapfrog.com/content/product_images/4walker1.jpg
FP Ocean Wonders Aquarium ~ Does your DC still play with this? I am thinking to buy one for Ava to entertain her in the mornings after she awakens. We have the Symphony-In-Motion music box still attached which holds her interest for a littel while. The FP aquarium seemed more interesting.

Ms. Chappy,
I think Naamah found a really cute inflatable pool for Shylah's birthday. Not sure where she got it from though.
Ally,
(((HUGS))) I commiserate.
Yup...we've got ANOTHER EI in the house. This makes #4. Who ever said BFed babies get less EI's? Caroline seems to get more than any other baby in here. Ah well, looks like we caught it in time (long story...dc called today and thought she had pink eye. get to Dr. no pink eye, but have EI. Oh the drama in my house!) as it was just slightly red. Doesn't seem to bother her at all. So, I'm grabbing the bananas and stocking up on the Yo Baby because Amoxicillian here I come!!

It will take me a while to get the new thread up and running but I'll work on it as time allows. My aunt passed away, today is the one year anniversary of DH's dad's death, I have a consult later this week for my shoulder, my dad's health, and one of horses got injured late Sunday night/early Monday morning and trying to nurse him back to health. Hope everyone understands.
