QOTD: How does your DH crack you up in regards to baby?

Tom gives Thomas his nightly bath, and just to watch him turn into a kid himself during the splashing, hearing him do the high-pitched 'peek-a-boo!' just absolutely KILLS me!
And he is obsessed with brushing DS's wet hair into spikes and a mohawk. Well....last night he decides to brush Thomas' wet hair into a mohawk and let it dry that way. So this morning, my kid still has a mohawk! He has so little hair, but it's mostly on the top center of his head. Quite interesting.

1st bday: I'm sure it will be very low key. probably a bbq in the backyard with friends and family. I may splurge and get a cake from a bakery instead of making it myself. LOL!:D I don't feel the need for some elaborate set up. He won't remember anyhow.

holiday cards: We will do a family card with a picture. We'll probably dress up sometime this month to get a nice wintery looking pic.

More children; We will try for baby #2 starting next summer after DS is one. I'm 31 and want to get this birthing thing over with. :p

silly DH: It cracks me up when DH refuses to put the diaper rash cream on DS. "I don't like it" he whines. It's also so funny to hear him talk in a baby voice when he plays with Collin. Especially when I ask a question and he pretends to be collin answering me...usually with some "profanity'. I just have to laugh at him.

Flu Shot~Actually DH's aunt (who is a dr) said that getting a flu shot in Oct/Nov is virtually pointless because they only last three months and the most popular month for the flu is Feb, so the shot would run out before the peak of flu season even hit. Of course that could just be for the Midwest, but something to think about!

1st~Ideally, I would like to throw a small party with just relatives. Nothing fancy. I'm not sure DD will even "get" what is going on!!

Future Children~We plan on trying again in Jan 07. Then #2 will (hopefully) be born when DD is 28-months.

DH & Baby~I love it when he tries to calm her down when she is fussy. He sings songs that he makes up as he goes along, so they make no sense at all. The lyrics themselves end up being quite humorous!!

Well, DD is getting hungry. Yesterday she wasn't interested in cereal, so we'll see how she does today!

Goofy hubby-DH is lousy singer. He's off-key, can't remember the lyrics and pretty much messes it all up but he loves singing! He finally found an audience in Alexa. She is fascinated by his singing and will laugh and coo appreciatively. DH took a video of Alexa when he was singing "Gold Digger" by Kanye West and Jamie Foxx and it's hysterical! He was bouncing around while he was singing so it's this crazy view of Alexa looking at him as he's zooming in and out on her.

Next baby-We're not avoiding right now but given that it took us 2 1/2 years to get pregnant last time, we will look into IVF if nothing happens by February. I'm 38 going towards 39 in June and don't have a lot of time to waste. I don't think our insurance covers much of anything with IVF so we are already building up a baby fund. Aigh, not looking forward to an empty bank account, shots in the rear and no guarantee of a baby. Hey, what are you gonna do?

The funniest thing my DH does with DD is "talk" for her. And of course, he always has her saying crazy, funny things and he talks in a little squeeky voice. We both tend to make up or improvise new lyrics to songs that fit whatever we're doing at the time. We're not quick enough for Gold Digger, but I have had that song stuck in my head for the last couple days :D

Flu shot: I went ahead and got one, even though it was early b/c DD can't have one till 6 mos in Dec. Still haven't been able to make DH get one, though.

Next baby: this is a tough one. Ideally, I would like them 2 yr apart, and call me crazy, but I had an easy pregnancy and can't wait to do it again (okay, 2nd and 3rd trimesters after MS). But that would be pretty tough with my job so probably more like 3 years apart.

First Birthday Party ~ It will probably just be family. My mom has a cute number one cake pan and will decorate it (she used to bake and decorate cakes so she has many supplies, tools, and recipes). We will probably do a cookout since it will be late June and very close to the 4th of July. We will probably get a watermelon (my mom's birthday is 8 days after DD's and she always wanted a watermelon instead of a cake when she was growing up) as well. In our family we tend to get/give $$ as gifts. And we have thought about getting saving bonds for the first couple of years. Growing up I always had a family party and a friend's party so in time we will probably do the same.

Flu Shot ~ Last year I got one (my first one ever) in mid November at the recommendation of my OB. I will be getting one this year as well. DH's employer gives them to immediate family members for free. (He just needs to remember to ask them about it.) I asked DD's doctor (he's also our family doctor) about me getting one. He said that I should have one because I'm around DD all the time plus I have a chronic medication condition (my thryoid problem) which qualifies me. I asked about DD getting one (she isn't due for one until January). He said he wasn't sure if they would give her one then or just wait until November of next year.

Future Children ~ We would like to have our next baby born when DD is between 2 and 2 1/2 years of age. DH and his brothers were each about 2 years apart and we feel that this would be a good age difference. I had a rough time during the first 20 wks because of morning sickness (couldn't keep anything down including liquids .... now they say it could have been on the verge of hyperemesis gravidarum). I'm not looking forward to having to go through the next time (or future pregnancies) but the prize is wonderful at the end and I would gladly go through it again. I can always hope it won't be as bad the next time (though the chances I'll have it the next time are about 90%). Plus I don't know what the thyroid problem will do to increase my risks. I'm guessing that I'll be considered high-risk which will mean more doctor's appointments, more u/s, closer monitoring, more bloodwork, etc. Guess I'll find out when we discuss it with my new OB/GYN. Plus DH isn't getting any younger.

Holiday Cards ~ I'm not sure if we will be doing picture cards or not. We will definitely be including a family picture with our Christmas cards. We already have the appointment set up for this weekend. I wanted to be sure and have the pictures back in plenty of time. That way I'm not waiting on the pictures to get back and then having to rush to get the cards out. We will probably be including our usual letter. We had a lot of things go on this year, some happy and some not.

DD's Doctor Appointment ~ We went the other day for DD's 4 month appt. She is now 14.5 lbs and 25 inches! All of weight is in her length, which we figured. We are still comfortably in size 1s diapers. I know some of you have long since be out of that size. She can still wear some (most) of her 0-3 month outfits but needs 3-6 months for the length. He gave us the go ahead to start the rice cereal if we wanted. We didn't ask about starting solids. But we didn't plan to start them until at least January. She also got her 4 shots. She has a couple of bumps underneath two that are kind of hard. I'm keeping an eye on them and if they continue to have that hard knot I'll call tomorrow. She also has had a fever yesterday.

sophia ~ Thanks.

Julie ~ Yes, she knows and recognizes a bottle very well.

Liz ~ Congrats on the baptism. We have DD's dedication next month, which reminds me that I need to get the announcments out for that.

ally ~ Nope, your kid isn't the only one not on solids yet. We won't be starting baby food until at least January. We haven't really began rice cereal yet either.

Naamah ~ I love her Halloween pictures as well.

QOTD
More Children - Ideally we would like them spaced 2.5 years appart.

Silly DH - He does these great monkey imitations for DS - which I knew he could do but he refuses to do them on command for me. Also, he made up this whole kinda dance that he puts DS through when they sing the wheels on the bus which DS loves.

Meri~Thanks! She is now 14.5 lbs and 25 inches! This seems so big to me! Shylah was the same length but 4 lbs less at her 4 month appt. would like to have our next baby born when DD is between 2 and 2 1/2 years of age. This means we could potentially be pg together next time too! LOL.

Holiday Cards~We got 10 holiday cards with our photo pkg we ordered a couple of weeks ago. There is a small group of my online friends that do Christmas card exchanges, so I'm sending those holiday cards out to them. For family and other close frineds, I typically typ up a "year in review"/Christmas letter and will be sending photos with those.

Threadmistress~Could you change my age to 25? My birthday is on Saturday! Thanks.

Off to make lunch!

VENTING: an hour after we saw DH's family his grandmother called and said she came down w/ a terrible head cold in the car ride home and that she hoped no one else got it and was glad she got to squeeze the baby..PS Ben has a fever today. Why are family members so selfish..she claimed it was 'sinuses' in the morning..whatever.

MrsChappy~I hate when stuff like that happens!!

jmvan74
11-10-2005, 06:48 PM
Mrschappy: I can empathize. DS got his first cold from my cousin's little boy, who was supposedly "over" his cold...runny nose and all! Helloooo...

meri: Sounds like Sarah is long and lean!:D

Tomorrow I have to get blood work to check my thyroid and check for anemia. I know some of you can relate all too well. ;)
I forced myself to the doc this week. The past few weeks I've been feeling so down and not myself at all. I knew I was at risk for PPD, i just didn't realize it could happen this long after birth. Anyhow...now I need to decide on meds yes/no and figure out how to manage it. :(

Today I tried to give DS some squash. He made himself gag and throw it up! i know it wasn't too thick or anything b/c he eats his cereal much thicker than the squash was. What a drama king! Who knew a boy would be so dramatic.

Mrs.Chappy
11-11-2005, 03:17 PM
thanks

we had a 'just shots' appt today at the Ped. Ben is 16.4 oz..i can't believe my little guy who had trouble gaining weight at the beginning is up 2 lbs from last month. no solids yet..not until after our 6 month check up. i think my ped is totally a by-the-book kind of doctor.

jmvan~What a drama king! Who knew a boy would be so dramaticLOL! I had a room full of them when I taught kindergarden!

Today was an awesome day for solids!! :D After starting bananas yesterday (DH's pick) and eating 1/3 of the jar, shylah ate another 1/3 this morning, and then cleared it this afternoon! She's not set to try something new until Sunday (to make sure there's no allergy), so we may try some cereal tomorrow or mash our own bananas!

Also, we are a rolling machine!! We rolled over twice today and once yesterday! :D

QOTD~Is anyone planning on making their own baby food? I would like to try - I just don't know how. We have a small food processor. Could I just stick the food in their and hit puree?

HedgeGirl
11-11-2005, 04:59 PM
QOTD: I'd like to make our own food, but we'll see. I have a friend who does it for some stuff (esp the green veggies which they don't think taste good in the jarred variety). She speaks highly of using a stick blender instead of a food processor.

So hard to believe DD is 5 months!!! Time has flown by. I enjoy every minute- she is so much more interactive, and her sweet, sunny personality is really starting to show through. But I do miss my tiny, helpless little newborn sometimes...

Happy Birthday tgr68!!

...and happy birthday to me too! I'm 31 today. I can't believe I didn't realize we shared a birthday until today when I checked the boards...Must be that my birthday seems like such a sidenote after all of DS's milestones (which I totally don't mind at all!).

kelsey - ITA about how fast they are growing up. I too miss DS's littleness as much as I've been (trying to) enjoy every moment. I look back on the pictures from the early days pretty often just to reminiscence and remember. I'm amazed at how true the saying about how fast they grow up really is...I never fully appreciated it until I experienced it.

11-12-2005, 04:22 PM
Hedgegirl~LOL! I know so many people who I share a birthday with, and since a couple of them are related, I always get a good advance warning that it's coming up! :) The calendar link at the top of the page lists everyone's birthdays (if you have it put in) and ages. It's really kinda cool! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LADIES!

QOTD: I'd *like* to make my own, and my friend did so will likely borrow the book she used. But I might get lazy because he'll be starting food during the holidays and we'll be doing a lot of traveling.

My birthday was so great! Thanks everyone for the well wishes!

The photographer that did my dad's wedding is so awesome. Not only did she do a great job of photographing the wedding, but they picked up their wedding proofs less than a week after the big day! Step-mom picked up a price list for me, and I am in shock at the pkg prices!

Pkg A - $20
1 - 8x10
2 - 5x7
3 - 4x5
8 - wallets

Pkg B - $35
2 - 8x10
4 - 5x7
5 - 4x5
24 - wallets

Ala Carte
11x14 - $12
8x10 - $6
5x7 - $3.50
4x5 or 4x6 - $2.50
8 wallets - $6

I so have to call and get an appt! We could get all the photos we need and more for under $50!!

Happy Belated B-day Hedgegirl!

Naamah: those prices are amazing!

QOTD: I like the idea of making my own food, but...i'm really not that ambitious. i'll stick to the jars. However, I'm torn between brands....I thought I'd use beech nut, but it's hard to find around here, so i've used Gerber (organic)..i think it's called Tender Harvest.

Happy Birthday Tgr and HedgeGirl. I never knew about the birthday feature of the calendar. Nifty!

Making baby food-Yeah, we'll be doing a lot of this but not anything special. Basically once Alexa gets past the initial intro to solids, we're going to start tossing whatever we are having for dinner into a mini-food prep and whirling it up for her. We'll just be cooking without salt and pepper and heavy seasonings and then doctoring the food up once we've mixed up Alexa's portion. Also, I plan on buying whatever fresh organic produce there is and just mushing it up...bananas, ripe peaches and pears, etc. as well as organic canned food like carrots, peas, applesauce, etc. I hope I don't insult anyone but I laugh whenever I see Stage 3 Applesauce. Ummm, applesauce is applesauce. Why would I spend .69 for 3 oz. when I can get a whole huge jar of organic applesauce for pretty much the same price? I understand when babies first start solids and everything has to be triple pureed and strained but beyond that it's pretty silly. Baby food makers totally play the "paranoid parent" card too much.

Dreshny
11-14-2005, 10:16 AM
I worry about the whole organic thing. Obviously, I don't want Asher eating pesticides and hormones (milk and eggs.) But we don't buy all organic groceries (just too expensive), so if I only feed him organic produce, what happens when I start giving him our (non-organic) table food?

LIZNKEITH

Happy Birthday, Girls!!

Food
Won't be making our own. I've been stocking up on both regular Gerber and Gerber Tender Harvest (organic). Figure this way she gets to try both. I'm all about the variety.

Mrs. Chappy,
Yes, they go to a booster after that.

Naamah,
Wow! Those prices are incredible. Nice score!

Maggie,
Ava is adorable! Caroline has the exact same dress!

I plan on making most of Dean's food because it will be cheaper, and I think I can do it without too much effort. I plan on doing what Sophia said after Dean gets older and just feed him a mushed up version of whatever we are eating.

And I am not going to bother with organic things. I think that babies are a lot hardier than most people give them credit for, and I worry that if I shield Dean's system from all of these things, that he will be less likely to cope with them later. But then, I am a pretty laid back mom...I think it is because I grew up taking care of my sister (who was born when I was 15), and she was my parent's second child, so they were laid back with her. Everything seems to end up in Dean's mouth, and I would waste a lot of time if I stressed over it!

jmvan74
11-14-2005, 11:46 AM
Food: Once we get beyond the early "stages", I would probably make an effort to give DS what we are eating, but time will tell.

Organic: I'm not really concerrned with this either. Like Lizsaid, I'm mixing it up. Variety.

Collin ate a whole jar of carrots with his rice cereal today! He loves them. I'm not looking forward to the poop that follows, though! :o

This weekend, collin started sitting up on his own. He'll sit in his crib or on his play mat and play with his toys. For the first time I realized that my little man is growing up. All of the other little milestones didn't really hit me like this one did. ;) Now I just need him to start rolling over consistently.

kelseyledare
11-14-2005, 04:53 PM
Food: We will also not be making ours. I'm not really a big cooking person, plus I am too busy with work. I have heard good things about Tender Harvest, BeachNut and regular Gerber. Probably go the variety route unless she has allergies.

Well, ladies, mastitis   has reared its ugly, painful head! It is just terrible, worse than I'd imagined. :( I was able to leave work a little early today to get my antibiotics (took forever to find a pharmacy that stocked them). And BF is terribly painful on that right side, but we are trying hard to continue. I certainly wouldn't wish this on anyone!

jmvan74

Kelsey: so sorry about the mastitis. i had it early on and cried every time i nursed. i hope you feel better soon.:(

Wow, Julie… I don’t know what I’m more shocked about: Collin eating a serving of rice cereal AND a whole jar or carrots, or the fact that he’s already sitting up unassisted. Caroline is no where close to either. She’s only eating about a tbsp of cereal at a time. He’s only 2 days older than her!

Maggie,
Oh no! I’m so sorry! That’s at least one bump I haven’t hit in my rocky BF experience. I hope you feel better real soon.

Food Since I am a SAHM this year I will try and make Dougie baby food. I made yams yesterday, I loved the expression on his face when he ate them!

Sleep He has been sleeping HORRIBLE since we got back from our trip! Last night was the worst. He woke up at 12, 2, 4:30, and 6:30!! I hope that it's just a growth spirt and he will go back to sleeping until at least 5 again.

Feeling like a failure Does anyone else every feel like a failure after reading baby books? Yesterday I reread Baby Whisperer and I feel like $hit because the book says Dougie should be sleeping through the night since 10 weeks! Also he shouldn't be hungry at night (he nurses at least 6 times in the day) and I shouldn't be feeding him . :( I think I just need to stop reading those damn books!! Then she tells you how she solved baby sleep problems, but that doesn't tell me how to do it! I had more questions about what and how to "fix" my DS sleep patterns after I read the book!!

jmvan74
11-15-2005, 09:59 AM
Liz: He still falls after a while...and he tends to fall backward instead of to the side, so unless he's in the crib (where its soft) I still can't leave him sitting up and walk away. I'm sure caroline is doing other things that Collin isn't doing. ;)

Ferris; i've been trying to avoid those books for exactly that reason. I've been working on my own sleep solution. :) I started by not feeding him before 10pm if he woke, then after a week, not before 12, then 1 and so on. Now I don't feed him if he wakes up before 3. i know he's big enough and does not Need to eat so I give him his pacifier or DH rocks him. Now he will stir once or twice, but i don't actually have to get up and feed him before 3am. Works for me. He was an every 2 hour kid before.

jmvan~Thanks! I was in shock when step-mom told me how little their engagement pics cost! Congrats on Colin sitting up! Collin ate a whole jar of carrots with his rice cereal today! He loves them. I'm not looking forward to the poop that follows, though! Hehe! I know what you mean!

Sophia~Basically once Alexa gets past the initial intro to solids, we're going to start tossing whatever we are having for dinner into a mini-food prep and whirling it up for her. This will probably be what we end up doing. I agree with you on the foods past a certain stage, just another way for baby food companies to make money!

LIZ~Thanks!

Megan~Everything seems to end up in Dean's mouth, and I would waste a lot of time if I stressed over it! I am the same way. People are shocked that I (as a first time mom) don't freak over the paci hitting the floor or her putting a toy in her mouth. I know that it's just their way of exploring, and I don't want to inhibit her natural curiosity!

Kelsey~Sorry about the mastitis. :(

Ferris~Sorry about the crazy sleep schedule! Stop reading those books! They'll just make you crazy! ;) No seriously! I get to where I start questioning if I really know what's best for DD and wonder if I'm forgetting something that's going to end up scarring her for life.

Okay, gotta go get ready for work! YUK!!

Ferris
11-15-2005, 12:41 PM
jmvan74 I will try that tonight. He usually wakes up between 2-3 and only nurses for a few minutes, so I know he's not hungry but I nurse him anyways! I know bad mommy!! Tonight I think I will wait until 4 to nurse him!!

tgr68 I know I shouldn't read those books, but after 2 weeks of horrible sleeping I did! :p I was desperate!!

AF She showed up today! And I am getting crampy already. :( I sure didn't miss her!!

Julie,
Look at him! Collin is so handsome! BTW, we have the same little frog.

Jessiesmama,
Jess is beautiful! She's doing great for a first-timer.

Ferris,
Every baby is different...don't feel like a failure. Besides, he could be teething right now and that can throw off the best of sleepers. Does he take a paci? Caroline will sometimes go right back to sleep with one.

A Tip for Feeding Cereal:
Some of you may already know this, but upon discovering it, I was pretty darned impressed with myself. ;) LOL! I've found that if I keep the spoon in front of Caroline's mouth, she'll gradually suck all the food off it. She doesn't get as frustrated as she does when I just stick it in her mouth. Less gets on her as well.

kelseyledare
11-16-2005, 12:20 PM
Liz, thanks for the cereal tip.

Well, I now have thrush.:( Has anyone else had this? It is very painful and rough on the BBs, sort of like the first few days of breastfeeding. I am applying anti-fungal cream and will be starting DD on some oral meds. I don't see anything in her mouth, but I definitely have it. I would love to talk if anyone else has been through this...

Julie~He is a cutie! I still can hardly believe he should be old enough to sit up!! Love his hair!

Jodie~Looks like she did great! I need to get pics of Shylah eating on here.

LIZ~I was doing using that trick for a while. Now that's even to slow of a method to get it into DD's mouth. She has her tongue going before I even get close! Hehe!

Kelsey~Ditto to what Dreshny said. They are very helpful over there. Sorry about the thrush. :(

We went in for our weight check today. (If you remember, DD lost half a pound from 3-4mos. She was at 10lbs 8oz.) Well she is up to 11lbs 14.5oz!!! :)

jmvan74
11-17-2005, 07:41 AM
liz: Thanks! Thanks for the tip. Collin has started to open wide and practically squeal for it now!

kelsey; So sorry about the Thrush. i agree that the bfing thread will probably be your best source for suggestions. Once you and DC are on the meds it should become less painful rather quickly. :(

Naamah: I can't beleive he is sitting either. Congrats on Shylah's weight gain!

Beautiful babies! We just start giving dd pureed veggies the other day because she would wake up at night and breastmilk wouldn't fill her up enough. It is working because she's sleeping through the night again.

We had a dr appt on halloween. dd is now 16lbs and 24 inches long! Chunky Monkey! But I can tell her 'rolls' in her legs are going away slowly. :( (They were so cute)

December~Parker is so cute!

Here are a couple of pics from a recent "photo shoot" DH's cousin and I did in her front yard.

Liz Thanks for the tips about feeding...it has helped!! Dougie is eating more food now and sleeping better the last 2 nights, but not all night yet :( .

Sitting up Dougie can sit up for a few seconds, maybe 10-15, but then falls over. He has the idea but when he goes for a toy he loses balance.

I am sick :( I woke up this morning with a sore throat, Luckly my mom came over to watch Dougie while I took a hot shower and a nap, but now it's 11pm and I can't sleep a wink!:( And my nose is draining in my throat! I hope I can get to sleep soon and feel better tomorrow.

December: Collin can sit, but he has absolutely no interest in rolling over or being on his tummy for any length of time. It's interesting how all babies meet thier marks at thier own pace. Parker will be sitting before you know it. ;) BTW, her cheeks are sooo darned cute. :D

Naamah; Those are great pics. Shylah reminds me of snow white..with her dark hair and fair skin. :)

Ferris: I hope you feel better quickly.

Sitting up-Dean just started being able to sit on his own for several minutes at a time. It's funny, because like Collin, Dean has no interest in rolling over either. He has rolled both ways once or twice, but he has never started doing it consistently. I wonder if Dean and Collin can sit up so early because they such big babies!

I uploaded a video of him sitting unassisted and of him desperately trying (and failing) to crawl. If you guys are interested, you are welcome to check it out: http://www.jusspress.com/Megande. The quality of this video isn't very good, but there is a really funny (I think) video from last week of Dean playing with a bag.

Naamah-I know you posted a video of Shylah on this site a little while ago...do you keep videos updated on there? All of our family is far away, so this is a good way to help them keep in touch.

kelseyledare
11-19-2005, 07:22 PM
Ferris- Hope you are feeling better!

Megan- Wow, sitting up already! DD has rolled two or three times accidently, but I think she'll be a sitter, as she likes to watch everything going on around her.

Naamah- The latest Shylah photos are gorgeous- you should definitely have that last one enlarged!

December- I agree about Parker's adorable cheeks. A such beautiful hair! It almost makes a bald baby's mama jealous...

Well, I am finally over the mastitis and making progress on the thrush. DD has still never has any symptoms herself. IMHO, I'd forget the creams and go right to the Diflucan for two weeks. I finally noticed improvement 24 hrs after starting that. So good to finally be feeling better! :)

ferris & kelsey
Sorry neither of you are feeling 100% - get better soon!

Those videos are too funny - I love the freak out when the chips are dropped. At least you save big bucks on toys! ;) lol!

Sitting Up
He'd rather stand and do Elvis-like pelvic thrusts rather than sit. And when I do 'sit him' he immediately sees his feet and leans allllll the way over to eat them in a very yoga-like move.

Hair
Suddenly his hair is really sprouting and it's adorable because it's all soft and spikey. :D So cute...

hey guys...looking for support.
Lately i have not been myself..i wonder if its late onset PPD. I have been extremely stressed about the prospect of returning to work (Dec 7th). I know i have been very snippy w/ DH who has had it up to here with me.. He says i treat him like $h^t and i know i can be nicer to him. I keep apologizing and then freak out when things don't go my way or arent just so.
Then today i totally yelled at my little 5 month old who was extremely over tired and wouldn't nap. I was preparnig for a party for his playgroup and lost it. It was the stress of having everything just so.
I am also being treated for carpel tunnel syndrome (a new diagnosis for me) and being retested by my internist for a possible thyroid problem - though he seems to think the lab messed up b/c my test results are not consistent with low thyroid function..instead they look like it is high. Anyway, am i the only one who has lost it with DH and DS? I would never ever raise a hand but it scared me and then i cried to DH after. i feel like a terrible mother. should i call my OB and ask about PPD or wait for my blood results to come back..i know hypothyroid is consistent with mood swings and anxiety...i just feel so out of control lately..going back to work is affecting everything too..just the anticipation of it.
thanks for listening.

Ferris~Feel better soon!

Julie~Thanks! We hear that a lot. Maybe that will be next year's haloween costume!

Megan~Cute videos! I couldn't help but laugh at the bag video! I try to keep mine updated, but I don't always do the best job.

Kelsey~Thanks! There are a couple out of the set that I may enlarge, but I still haven't decided for sure on the others yet.

Kim~Thanks for the compliment! He'd rather stand and do Elvis-like pelvic thrusts rather than sit. LOL!

MrsChappy~Yes, I have found myself wanting to yell at DD, so you are not alone. I don't think I have ever done it (but I could've just erased it from memory). I usually catch myself, take a deep breath, and then hug her as tight as I wanted to yell at her! The funny thing is I usually have the urge to say, "Quit acting like a baby!" Then I remind myself that she is a baby. Anyway, {{{HUGS}}} to you! Depending on how long it will take to get your results back, I would wait. If you feel that you just can't, feel free to call your OB.

megan: I bet Dean's and Collin's size does have something to do with the sitting well. Collin has rolled, just doesn't, too. Our little ones are getting so grown up.:p

Kelsey: Glad that the mastitis and Thrush are on the way out.;)

Hair; Collin was born with a lot of hair, but now its really coming in. He looks so cute.

Mrschappy:I wouldn't hesitate to call the your ob. sometimes just talking about it with someone objective can help. I waited until I felt completely overwhelmed to get help and i wish i hadn't. i hope you are hanging in there. *hugs*

Mrs. Chappy Like everyone else said don't hesitate to call your dr. I talked to DH about it last night as well. I am just not right, if that makes sense and it hasn't gotten better. So I am thinking of call my doc as well. The only problem I have is that we got new insurance and I have to find a new doc.

Both of us are sick :( You can hear hear it in his voice...we are both not as bad anymore, but I am still not 100% and neither is Dougie.

6 months old!! My little guy is 6 months old today!! I can't believe how fast time has gone!!

Hair We started noticing his last week. It's coming in thicker, but he still doesn't have very much!!

scooting Dougies new thing is to scoot all over the floor/bed on his back! It's like he's crawling but on his back. Everytime we put him on his tummy to do the same thing he rolls over and scoots again on his back!
:p

Poop Not liking his new poops. They are really starting to stink and look gross! I don't think I will ever eat squash soup or anything that resembles pumpkin pie for a few years!! Thank goodness my Aunt is watching him (I am supposed to be working on homework) and she got to change his last explosive one!!!:p

Ferris~I can't believe how tiny Dougie was!! I know what you mean about the news poops! Not fun!!

Shylah News
She loved sweet potatoes yesterday!!! Cleared the whole jar! We got pictures of her in her Turkey onsie, so I will uplaod those probably tomorrow. We got her a ton of cute stuff for Christmas. I'll see if I can find online pics and post them.

Other News
While we were shopping today, DH's aunt gave us a call, and said that she had gone over to let our dog out to potty. She turned her back on the dog for a second and off Brenna goes down the street to visit the neighbor dogs! DH's aunt freaks and calls the dog back w/o knowing there was a car coming. On the way back to the house, Brenna got clipped by the car. Fortunately she is okay, but it sure gave DH's aunt a good scare!!

Oh, and DH said that we can go ahead and make an appt with the photographer to get family pics done!!!

Hmmmm......I think that's about it!

So glad everyone had nice Thanksgivings. Can you believe it's almost Christmastime and our DCs will be 6 mos? WOW!

My Ava is not feeling well and just diagnosed with bilateral ear infections and strep throat! :( :( Poor Baby! Hopefully, the antibiotics will kick in and she'll feel better soon! I am mostly recovered from the mastitis and thrush, though my supply seems to have permanently suffered. So we've had to add formula to fill out the EBM. But I'd like to keep pumping so she gets some BM. Overall, the whole experience was so discouraging, feeling my supply slip away.

We also started DD on cereal and fruit sooner than 6 mos which was my original plan. But she ate so well with the spoon even on the first try- she really seemed ready. She's had rice cereal and some pears. I'm trying to decide which veggie to introduce next.

DD has her Christmas / 6 mos photos scheduled for next Sunday. I'd like to get two outfit poses- anyone know Penney's policy on that?

happy belated thanksgiving.
we were able to have DHs mom watch ben and got to see Rent in the movies.

as for my thyroid..my levels went from .8 to 17!!! so i was referred to an endocrinologist...anyone know the significance of these numbers? my MD is concerned..could be why i am feeling so nutty lately.

i'll post an update soon.. gotta run...

jmvan74

liz Caroline is beautiful. :D Collin hated squash, too. When we moved on to carrots he loved it.

Kelsey; Sorry to hear about Ava's ear infection. Poor baby. We started with squash, carrots and sweet potatoes. Then we moved on to peas and green beans before fruit. The only one we've had a dislike for is squash. Collin literally gagged himself until he threw it up! LOL!

MrsChappy: I don't know what those numbers mean, but it sounds like you may have found the culprit for your feelings lately. I hope that it gets regulated soon. I know that Meri was having some thyroid issues as well. She may have more insight for you.

I guess it was a movie weekend because we took advantage of doting relatives as well and went to see Harry Potter. We ended up stressing aboout Alexa so much that we didn't even enjoy the movie. Never thought I'd be one of those parents but I am! We went to see Chicken Little the next day and brought Alexa with us. She was due to have a bottle so we fed her during the previews and she zonked out for the entire movie! Couldn't have worked out better if we had planned it.
Tomorrow is Alexa's 6 months check up (holy moly, she turned a half year old on Saturday the 26th). She is due to get more shots and she is usually cranky and tired the next day so I am taking two days off from work. I'll post her 6 month photos and check-up info when I come back on Thursday (our dial up at home is worthless for photos).
Wow, I can't believe how our kiddies are cruising through the milestones!

MrsChappy~Ben is so cute! I love his cheeks!

Shylah has really gotten into a daily routine this week. I had decided that morning naps would be around 10am, but she's been asking to go down around 9:30-9:45. Then she'll sleep until about 10:45 and play in her PNP until around 12:00!! Gives me lots of time to get stuff done!

I have coupons!!! You ladies have been great about the Similac coupons, so I thought I could return the favor! They all expire next June, so there's plenty of time to use them if you don't need them right away! PM me if you are interested. I have the following coupons:
1. Save $1 on any Grins & Giggles product
2. Save $1 on Gerber bowls & utensils
3. Save 50 cents on any 8 Tender Harvest 1st & 2nd stage food
4. BOGO Tender Harvest 1st food

Started on carrots last night. DD loved them! I think they are her favorite so far. Mu usual 1/3 jar daughter actually ate almost the entire jar. They were certainly a hit.

Sorry to hear Kohl's was such a mess, jmvan. We are hoping to knock out all our shopping in one weekend.

tgr68, that is great about Shylah's napping. It is so nice to have some reliable, productive time!

Liz, I share your dream about being SAHM.

DD is now reliably rolling from back to stomach. It's so fun to watch her roll for a toy. ;)

I am still not healing well after the thrush so I've got an appt with a BF-friendly dermatologist who sees nursing mothers. I can't remember when I've looked forward to an appt so much!

Congrats hub1176 I was just thinking about this the other day. I was wondering who would be the first to get preggo again! :D Thank goodness it's not me, although DH and I haven't been very careful!

SAHM dreams I guess I am not like everyone else. I love working and although I am a SAHM right now, I would love to go back to work. I love spending time with Dougie, but I am a better mom to him , when I spend time away from him. I treasure the time I spend with him better. I know that it will be hard to go back to work when I do, but I can't imagine staying home the rest of my life!!

Liz, you stinker! Thanks for the hints and I'm glad hub came in and told us the news. ;)

Kelsey: We made it out unscathed! LOL! I think i'll try and do the rest on my own this weekend. DH can take care of Collin. ;)

Thanks everyone!

Can I officially join this thread? The other moves way too fast as it is and there is no way I'll be keeping up with it now!

So:

Me: Hub1176 aka Kate, 29
DH: Bruce, 34
Married 7/20/02
DD 6/1/05

Ferris - I hear ya! I love having the daycare because I was going a bit nuts with just me and DD. It's not that I didn't like being her primary caregiver, but some days were very looong! This way I have a set routine and schedule which makes it very nice. I feel like I'm accomplishing something (and making some $$$). At the same time I know that eventually I will go back to working outside the home because I do miss the stimulation.

Kelsey - I'm so jealous!! Rhiley will not roll. She sucks on her hands whenever she's placed on her tummy.

jmvan74 - I wonder who will be next? :)

Christmas shopping - because I was out of work for about 6 months we are having a slim Christmas. I think I'll bake something to add to our gifts. It will probably only take us a few hours to complete our shopping.

Solids - I am asking at 6 month WBV what we can do now. DD has pretty much done all the fruits and veggies. She had to start solids early because of excessive spitting up (not quite reflux though).

Not to be nosey but I know one June mama was on ABS - did the episode air? Everytime I watched I wondered if I would be able to tell.

Braving our dial-up to congratulate Hub. Fantastic news! Keep us updated with all the details.
BTW, are you talking about Winterbride and her baby story? That aired in October (is that right, ladies?) but I'm sure it will be rerun for many months to come. I was able to catch the first 20 minutes and really enjoyed it (snuck into the conference room to watch but got called away during the actual delivery for a phone call.......stupid work). Hope you catch it at some point.

Congrats hub1176 I was just thinking about this the other day. I was wondering who would be the first to get preggo again!

I was TOTALLY thinking about this the other day too. In fact I wanted to start a cyber pool or something with odds on each member. :D Reason being that Saturday night my stomach suddenly lurched and I thought I'd lose my dinner. Sunday and going into Monday I had the same thing. It felt like my ole pal morning sickness was terrorizing me again so I POAS and got a BFN. We're not trying (not avoiding either) so I wasn't disappointed but it would have been nice to find a reason for my nausea. I suspect my period is due and since being pregnant, my period is all weird with supersized symptoms. Hopefully I'll be back to normal soon.

kimthebride
11-30-2005, 06:30 PM
Okay....a few questions:

1) Does everyone already have their period again?
Mine still isn't here, likely because I'm exclusively BFing.

2) When starting cereal at 6 months how much do you start with and is it 1x or 2x a day?
I was thinking to start Saturday with the 1 TBS cereal w/ 3 TBS of EBM, see how he does with it only in the a.m. for 4-5 days then do it 2x a day.
I put together a shelf for Thomas in the kitchen with his cereal, jarred food, spoons, bowls, sippy cup and bibs. Fun! My boy is getting so big!

3) Who's on ABC!? Exciting!!

Julie~I'm sure now that I've figured her out, she'll change things up on me, but for now, it's nice!!

LIZ~After I dropped your coupons in the mail, I found another one, so you will be getting an extra!

Hub~Congrats!! So when's your EDD?

May/June~I do a pretty good job of keeping up with it, but somedays it just moves sooo fast!!

Preventing #2? We are trying to watch and DTD during my non-fertile times. However, I haven't been taking my temp like I should, so it's really up in the air. It's not that I want another right now, it's just I don't care to have to mess with the whole charting bit at the moment. ;)

Kelsey~It's nice that she has a somewhat predictable routine now. That sucks about the thrush. :( Hope it gets cleared up soon!

SAHM Dreams~I love my job, but I love my time at home with DD so much that it wouldn't bother me in the slightest if the PT job disappeared!! I love being a SAHM!!!

Kim~AF returned very early for me. YUK! I would start him off just once a day. If he's not interested at the time, take a day or two off. Once he's comfortable with one feeding a day, then I would add another. I have found that its easier to get DD to eat late morning/very early afternoon best.

Not a whole lot here. We went to a friend's grandfather's visitation tonight. Tomorrow is the funeral. I'm not sure if I will go or not since DH can't get off work for it.

Congrats Hub! I think my co-worker who also had a June baby may be expecting number 2 soon also.

well, I am one of those who have been MIA lately. I have been back at work for a month now, and even only working 3 days a week I am too tired to do more than read at night.

period - I have not seen AF since last August presumabley since I am EBF

solids - We are also starting solids next week when DS turns 6 months. I think he is totally ready for them based on the way he was grabbing for our pizza tonight.

Holiday Shopping - Well, we don't do Christmas and in my family we don't do Hanukah gifts either so we tend to stay FAR FAR away from the malls this time of year, espacially since it is pretty hard to park on any plain old day around here.

kelseyledare - Hope you feel better!

As sophiasaid, it was WINTERBRIDE who was on ABS in October. It was really neat to see her. I'm sure it will be repeated several times. Her real name is Daria, so if you see an episode with that name it is likely her. ;)

AF:Nope, not yet. I'm still BF, so that contributes. I planned on weaning at 6 months, but I'm not sure DS is going to cooperate, so I may be looking at nursing for a year.

Solids: We started with 2TBs once aday with EBM. Now we eat 2x a day. Late morning we eat 3TBS oatmeal with 2oz fruit and in the evening we eat 3TBS rice with 2oz veggies.

Sophia: I like the idea of a cyber pool! Too funny. I think there are a lot of us who are not trying/not avoiding. :D

Spps: Your smart to stay away from the mall. It's crazy. I used to love the crowds, but now, with DS it's too much. I've done a lot of shopping online.

Soilds we just kinda tried it for the last few weeks-we have been doing rice every other day then we started doing it every day. However while at my parents house the kid got nothing!!! So we are back to every day. We tried oatmeal but he isn't really a big fan of it!

Question? Does anyone else's kid try to eat your face? I don't know if it's b/c I kiss him so much and he's trying to kiss back, but he constantly grabs my ears or hair and tries to put my nose or chin in his mouth! LOL! Maybe it just feels good on his gums. :D

He loves eating my chin and nose, and goes after DH's nose every night. So funny! He tried to eat DH's chin, but the beard growth is prickly at the end of the day - he made such a face. :)

"constantly grabs my ears or hair and tries to put my nose or chin in her mouth"

Exactly describes my DD. I bet she's just early teething, but I think to think that she's trying to show affection ;)

jmvan74 - yes, DD also grabs my ear quite painfully!

My EDD is August 6. I called to set up my first prenatal and that will be December 27. They no longer do the blood test to confirm. It seems like they have changed some of their policies since DD was born and I'm not sure how happy I'll be with that but we'll see.

Maggie,
Congrats on rolling! Caroline still isn't consistant with it. She usually tries to do it when we're not looking. Good luck with the Derm! Hapefully s/he can get you back on the road to recovery.

Sophia,
I'm with you on the cyber pool.

Naamah,
Thank you! You're awesome!! I'm with you on the charting. I haven't been nearly as good as I was last time. We are depending solely on the PO method.

Hub,
It's going to be so cool to go through your pregnancy with you again. I'll have to live vicariously through you.

QOTD- AF
I've had 3 since my lochia ended. One light one at 10 weeks, a super heavy one at about 20 weeks, and another heavy one last week.

QOTD- Cereal
The directions say to use 1 tbsp of cereal to 4 tbsp of formula/EBM. But honestly, DD did not like it that way. She prefers a 1:1 ratio. As of now, she's only eating 1-2 tablespoons at a time. We do cereal in the morning, and a veggie at dinner time. We've been mixing it up between rice and oatmeal.

Eating face
Yes! Especially my chin. She doesn't sound as loving as your DC's though. She thrashes her head violently from side to side like she's trying to rip in to a piece of steak.

Well, I am back from my dermatologist appt- she was very nice and BF all of her 5 children so ought to know what she's talking about. ;) She thought I had eradicated the thrush, but had a lot of irritation and non-healing so I am on a strong steroid cream twice a day. I am so hopeful that this will work. She also thought the stress/pain of the thrush could be what dropped my supply. Even if that does not come back, I want nursing to be a pleasant experience again so I am excited to try my new cream after pumping at lunch.

Will BBL to do replies.

Oh yes I have a face eater too. Also he started "blowing kisses" Well at least that is what I think he is doing.

My nanny got locked out of the apt with Aiden today :( Luckly Brad was on his way home. She had food and there are people in the area that she knows people in the neighboorhood. I was a mess

kelseyledare
12-01-2005, 12:47 PM
ally- that is terrible that she got locked out. thank goodness she had Aiden's food with her.

Naamah- your Christmas dress is so cute and stylish. What a great find!

Hub- It's going to be so much fun to hear about DC #2. August will be nice so that your DD will have her birthday celebration before the new little one arrives.

AF- thank goodness this hasn't returned, though I am worried since BF supply has recently dropped.

QOTD- We mix the cereal with water and have been making it thicker as DD gets better at eating. She ate an entire jar of Beachnut Stage 1 Starter sweet potatoes yesterday!

It's nice to see things picking up a bit in this thread. I've managed to keep up with reading this thread and the May/June thread...but haven't done much posting lately.

Thanksgiving - We spent a week and half at the grandparents house for Thanksgiving and I didn't have as much time to use the computer. We did manage to go out and see Harry Potter...though we had both just read the book so we spent most of the movie analyzing the differences.

Eating face - Yep, he tends to go over my cheek most, so I do think he's imitating all those kisses I lavish on him. But then he doesn't just eat faces (he was munching on my shoulder last night and he loves fingers) so who knows...could also be teething related.

Solids - We still have close to a month to go before we start, but I'm starting to get ready...we bought a high chair last weekend and I've got bowls and spoons. DS has just started showing signs of being ready and keeps lunging at our food and drinks.

AF - Nope, no sign of her here. I am still exclusively BFing. Will be interesting to see what my cycle is like (I never had a very predictable cycle pre-pg) though I'm really not in any hurry either.

SAHM - So here's my BIG news...I quit my job to be a SAHM! I'll be working through December. Since being back at work since the middle of September, I'd been debating whether to do it or not, but finally had revelation that 1) we can financially afford to do it; 2) as much as I like where I work, I'm burnt out and am ready for a change; and 3) I loved being home with DS when I was on maternity leave and I'd be silly to turn down this opportunity to spend more time with him considering the other factors. It feels odd (and sad) to be leaving the paid working world, and like jmvan I'm sure I'll miss having my own income but I feel like it is very much the right decision for all of us.

#2 - Congrats hub! Add me to the list of people not trying/not avoiding. Of course when we told MIL that I quit my job she looked at me and asked if the news meant #2 was on the way (that surprised me since that reason hadn't even occurred to me)

Maggie,
Yeah for a plan! I really hope this cures your supply issues.

Ally,
That stinks! I got locked out with Caroline when she was a few weeks old. Thankfully, my father happened to be at home so I just drove out to there house (about 10 miles) and hung out there until DH got home.

Hedge Girl,
Congratulations!!! Man-o-man am I green with envy though. You're so lucky!!

We'll probably start trying again this time next year. I really want an October baby.

HedgeGirl How wonderful you will be able to stay home with DS! It's hard to feel torn about working vs. SAH. (Too funny about MIL! Did you tell her she'll be the first to know;) :p )

allyray231 Good thing your DH was already on his way! Hopefully she will come up with a better plan for their next outing(I've heard taking the key usually helps ;) ).

kelsey Hope the meds make things better for you.

ABS - I may have seen it but can't remember! I hope they air it again.

PG symptoms - none really, although I've noticed my strong sense of smell coming back. It's very early (5 weeks). Last time it was around 7 or 8 weeks that my all day sickness started. I remember I couldn't even go to the June mom's thread because just reading about everyone's m/s made me get sick. I'm trying to take my PNV and eat as healthy as I can. I'm hoping that I won't be as sick as last time. The nice thing about the 2nd time is that you don't obsess about every little ache and pain - you don't have the time! We had tried for 2 years last time and as soon as we moved I got pg, now DH is convinced that something is in the water here!

Excersaucer - Anyone not use them because of AAp recomendations? Is it one of those things where you need common sense or are they really dangerous?

allyray231
12-01-2005, 01:42 PM
ok I just started to use DS Excersaucer -what is the deal?

sophiapb
12-01-2005, 01:42 PM
Exersaucer-I saw your thread in the Parenting section and honestly, this was the first I heard about any danger. Alexa loves both her exersaucer and her door jam bouncer. She can do about a 1/2 hour in each and can reach the floor in both. I would think they would be fine in moderation but like anything done excessively, can be damaging. We always make sure that she gets plenty of time on the floor to move around and practice rolling and make crawling attempts so that the saucer and bouncer aren't her only entertainment. I'm not too worried but would like to hear input from others.

Alexa update-Alexa's 6 month check up showed her as 26 inches long and 17 lbs 3 1/2 ozs. She also got two vaccinations (don't remember which ones, bad mommy!) as well as a flu shot. She was miserable the next day, tired and cranky with a fever. She always gets a fever after her vaccinations so I've learned to take two days off of work whenever she has a check up so I can snuggle my feverish girl and get her through the day. She's fine today and back to normal.

Alexa's 6 month photo

Compare to her 5 month photo

We also gave her some rice cereal the day after Thanksgiving because she seemed to show so much interest in DH and I eating. She did fine and we gave her some more the next day but that was it. I ended up getting sick and couldn't deal with it, then Alexa was feverish from her vaccinations and I didn't want to deal with it then so nothing much has happened since. We really hadn't planned to start solids until after Christmas so maybe we'll just get back in the swing of things after the holidays. Hey, at least it made for a good photo op.

You can see how it's pretty much just thick liquid!
http://images.snapfish.com/3456699523232%7Ffp335%3Enu%3D323%3B%3E574%3E2%3B6% 3EWSNRCG%3D32333598%3B53%3B%3Bnu0mrj

Face grabbing-Yup, Alexa's a pro although she doesn't do the face eating. She loves to grab my mouth and I pretend to bite her fingers. It's all part of exploring. DH loves her little fingers grasping at his neck and jaw. It's the cutest thing.
Eating face
Yes! Especially my chin. She doesn't sound as loving as your DC's though. She thrashes her head violently from side to side like she's trying to rip in to a piece of steak. OMG Liz, that's too funny. I'm visualizing a shark going after a piece of chum!

Congrats Hedgegirl on becoming a SAHM. Very exciting!

As for my thyroid, i am on synthroid..hopefully my hormones calm themselves and i can return to being my usual self. I go back to work on WEd which is not helping my anxietes.

EXERSAUCER: DS loves his..its fun to watch him in it.

Are we the only ones who are not on solids..he will be six mos on the 8th but we aren't going back to the MDuntil the 13th and DH will be away until the 16th so i want to start on the 17th. am i insane?

Ugh!!! Shylah does not want to nap, and she is protesting quite loudly!!! :(

Ally~DD seldomly gets solids when we are out of the house. I just forget about them until we get home, and then think "Um....I didn't give her any 'real food' today." he started "blowing kisses" So cute when they start doing this.

Julie~Not so much any more. DD used to suck on my nose when she was little if she was really hungry. It was the funniest thing!

LIZ~That sounds like us!! PO only! I think I've got my cycles down pretty good though to where I can tell. *fingers crossed* ;) I really want an October baby. Me too! Me too!!

Kelsey~Good luck with the cream!! Thanks for the compliments on the dress! I was surprised as to how similar it was to the Gymboree one, and for a fraction of the price!

Hedgegirl~Congrats on your SAHM decision!

Hub~LOL about DH saying something was in the water. In the last 4 years, MIL has had 3-5 different girls get pg while working for her! Is it one of those things where you need common sense or are they really dangerous? You just need a little common sense, as with most things.

Sophia~I love Alexa holding the paper in her 6-month photo!!

MrsChappy~No, you're not insane!! I think it would be fine waiting to start on the 17th!

I was holding DD today, and she got all excited when she saw me drinking water from a cup. Well, I thought I'd let her try since she was so interested, and she took 3 drinks!! One the third one, all the water dribbled out of her mouth, though. ;)

MrsChappy - I don't think there are any hard and fast rules that you have to start solids right when your DC turns 6 months...heck, there are people who wait several months beyond 6 mos before introducing solids. I'm not sure exactly when we are gonna introduce solids...we'll be in the car traveling to my parents on DS's 6 month birthday so I doubt we'll actually do it at 6 months. Not sure if I'll give it a try at the grandparents or just wait until we're home in 2006 to try it.

Exersaucer - We are borrowing one from a friend and DS only seems moderately interested in it (he seems to get frustrated he can't get the toys in his mouth). We're lucky to get 10 minutes out of it. Our pediatrician actually suggested it at our 4 month appt saying kids really like them about that age (with no warnings abt safety)...my take on the AAP warning is just like almost everything else, I think moderation is the key.

Sophia - I think it is great you've kept up with taking Alexa's picture in that chair every month. I love how she's got a grip on the sheet of paper in the 6 month one!

Okay, I don't know how many pages it's been since I was here and I don't have the time to sit and scroll back to find out. So if I leave someone out I apologize in advance. I skimmed over the pages in a hurry (trying to do about 10 things at once....sound familiar to anyone?? ;) )

Liz ~ Congrats on Caroline's sitting unassisted!! Love the pictures. I can you in her face. Glad that she did so good with her first day at daycare.

kelseyledare ~ Sorry to hear your little one isn't feeling very good. I was diagnosed with having borderline strep earlier this week. Hope she starts feeling better soon. Congrats on your DD rolling over. It's one of DD's favorite activities (she has been doing it for about 2 months now...it was actually only a month in between from when she started rolling over in one direction that she mastered going in the other direction).

Penney's Portraits ~ Unfortunately they will only allow one outfit per sitting. We wanted to have DD wearing one of her Pooh sundresses and her Pooh stuffed animals but they wouldn't allow the outfit change (and this was back in September). So we were stuck having to have her in the dress we took our family pictures in. Not exactly what we wanted but oh well.

Mrs.Chappy ~ I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism about 2 months after DD was born. If you have any questions, please free to send me a PM or post your questions here. From the levels you posted it sounds most likely that you have hypothyroidism (too little thyroid hormone). It's the opposite of what I have. My thyroid is working overtime (or working in spurts and then stops). Most likely mine will progress into hypothyroidism over time. Adorable pictures of your little guy!

hub1176 ~ Would you like your stats posted? Never mind. I found the post with your stats in it. Of course you can join.

A big congratulations!!!!! I can only imagine the shock. There are times that I'd love to be pregnant again but then I shake myself back into reality. I do not miss my borderline HG and I would like to get more information about the thyroid problem (the risks it poses) before we get pregnant again. Plus I'd like for DD to be at least a year old before we get pregnant.

AF ~ Okay, I'm jealous of those that haven't a return of it yet. I've had mine back for nearly 4 months now. I was so hoping for longer break but that wasn't the case. My PCP said it was most likely due to the thyroid problem that it came back.

Cereal ~ We haven't started it yet but we will soon. I think we will just do it at night to start out. The last time we tried it DD was definitely NOT interested in it at all. I believe we had 1 T and added water/formula to it. I've heard adding applesauce makes it more appealing to them. I bought a small jar in hopes of adding it to the cereal and making it taste better. I tried tasting some of it the last time and YUCK is all I can say.

ABS ~ It was Winterbride who was on the episode. I believe it aired in October. I know it's already had one repeat. I'm sure it will air again later in the year or next year.

Does anyone else's kid try to eat your face? ~ Yes. Last Saturday night while at SMIL's that is all DD would do. It was like she was trying to kiss me but ended up looking like she was eating me. Everyone got a big laugh out of it. Of course a lot of things end up in her mouth these days (fits, fingers, thumb, toes, blankets, toys, etc.). I really think that she will start teething really soon. She grabs anything in sight as well (including my hair, bracelets).

ally ~ How scary that the nanny got locked out. Glad she knew people and had food with her. And that your DH was on his way home.

HedgeGirl ~ Congrats on becoming a SAHM!

sophia ~ Love the pictures of your little one! DD is just starting to grab papers (she loves the mail, ads, the phone, and the satellite remote the best). I don't see a problem with her not being able to get into her presents come Christmas! :D

Solids ~ No solids here. We don't plan on even starting them until at least January. It will also depend upon what DD's doctor tells us at her 6 month appt. as well.

Naamah ~ DD is very interested when we drink out of cups or bottles too. In fact sometimes we can't keep it out of her reach.

Okay, this post is a little long so I'll post it and then do an update in another one.

face grabbing - DS loves to grab noses and lips!

Exersaucers: When DS was in PT for torticollis we asked about exersaucers as we had heard so many conflicting things. The PT basically said given a choice she reccomends not using them at all, but if you need somewhere to put DC so you can get dressed etc that is ok, but not for more than 10-15 minutes a day, The reason she gave us is that they strengthen the wrong muscles for walking and also don't allow for the association between moving and moving your legs b/c your legs are covered. We then asked the ped who thought there was no reason not to use one for short periods of time (more like 30 min a day). We chose not to get one though.

kelseydare - glad to hear tht the doc gave you a new cream. Hopefully this time everything will heal properly.

tgr68 - DS will do the same thing with my water but i think he likes to chew on the cold glass more than the actual water.

hedgegirl - congrats on becoming a SAHM!

DS has really mastered sitting in the past few weeks. Now he has started to move onto his stomach or push up on his toys everytime we sit him down. I guess this is good prep for things to come!

Thanksgiving ~ We had a good Thanksgiving. After we ate we went to the movies. It has become sort of a tradition with my mom and us. We had went last year to see 'Christmas with the Kranks.' This year we went and saw "Yours, Mine, and Ours.' DD was so excellent. She slept through part of the movie then woke up. We gave her a bottle. Then she watched the remainder of the movie. She loves the colors and motion so it kept her entertained. Then once the lights came on everyone noticed that we had her there. The little girl behind us came up to us and told us "that's the cutest baby." And we had a few other adults comment that she was a good little baby and they were surprised that she was there.

Friday after Thanksgiving ~ We went shopping super early Friday. Once again DD was fabulous. We were gone from 5 am and didn't get home until 11 am. DD only made one sound the entire time. Some women made a comment that it sounded like someone wasn't happy shopping. It wasn't that she wasn't happy shopping. She wanted out of the carseat but we were leaving the store so there was no reason to get her out then especially since it was extremely cold that morning.

We were able to get a few Christmas presents on Friday morning. Now we have just a few more things to get to be done. Last year we weren't done with Christmas until the week before Christmas.

Ally:The poor nanny! I have yet to lock myself and DS out of the house, but I did lock us out of the running car! Luckily, I had not put DS in yet.

Hedgegirl:Congrats on being a SAHM. I love it. :D

MrsChappy: There isn't any set time for solids. I think it's between you and your ped. I started early b/c DS was ready.

Sophia: Alexa is a sweetie pie! Good grip, huh? :D

Kate: Glad you don't have any symptoms yet. I hope you get away with out any ms!

Naamah:Collin does the same thing with water. He especially loves water bottles since that's what I always drink from. Now I give him one to play with. He knows exactly what to do. hehe!

Exersaucer: We love ours and so does DS. He spends about 45 minutes a day in it. Not all at once.

Meri: Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. It was definitely a movie weekend. That's great that Sarah was good at the movies. I wouldn't dare take my little monster in to a theatre! LOL! You were brave to be shopping on Black Friday. ;)

Sophia,
Love Alexa’s pics. I love how she is grabbing at the paper. So typical of a 5-6 month old. We can’t even read the paper anymore without Caroline trying to turn the pages. In Alexa’s picture next month, she’ll probably be eating the paper. LOL!

Naamah,
That’s awesome! Maybe we’ll both be Oct. 07 Mommies together!!

spps,
Your son is so handsome! He has such beautiful eyes.

Meri,
Wow! That’s awesome Sarah did so well during the movie. What a good baby!!

Count me in as being the first to hear of the controversy. DD spends a lot of time in her exersaucer. She loves it!

Asher is 6 months old now! I can't believe how fast that happened. In another blink, all our babies will be walking.

We don't have any plans to start solids yet. Last year, when I was pregnant, I was sure my baby would be eating full meals by Thanksgiving, and if you told me that babies don't need much besides breastmilk for their entire first year, I would have thought you were crazy, or at least pretty radical. But I guess our ideas change when our babies are actually here. I hadn't planned to start solids until 7-8 months anyway, but my LLL meeting yesterday, we discussed how it is LLL's policy to let the child decide for himself when solids should be introduced. So we're going to wait until he can sit up well unassisted (he can do it, but he's still pretty floppy) and he shows a clear interest in eating food (as opposed to just wanting to grab it, since he wants to grab everything.) Crap, now I sound crazy/radical, and I swear, I'm just normal...

Shopping: We don't celebrate Christmas, and we don't exchange Hanukkah gifts in my family. So while I'm really glad not to have the stress of Christmas shopping, and I don't usually buy anything until the after-Christmas sales, call me totally nuts, but I do like to look around in (not-too-crowded) stores and be a part of the excitement and activity. Actually, I am looking for an outfit for Asher because we're having professional photos taken in two weeks. Not that he doesn't have enough clothing already.

sophia and spps: Cute pictures! :)

I can't seem to post a picture of Asher for some reason, but I'll have DH help me to do it later.

Oh, and if anyone remembers the drama I had over trying to find someone to watch Asher and bring him to me to nurse while shooting a commercial, (I posted more of the story on the May moms thread last week, but I'm too tired to recap again) here is the result:

www.congressofthejewishpeople.com

click on me (Roseanne)--I'm the fourth one down on the left--to watch the commercial. Just a warning that it's very Jewish-oriented (supposed to be watched by Jews.)

Rushing around, but wanted to do a quick check-in:

Exersaucers
Honestly, not only does DS love it but it realy frees me up to do things when he's not happy about being on the floor. I don't keep him in it too long, but he likes to 'stand up' now and this allows him to do it off & on without me right there. He sits in it, then stands, then sits, then stands...
I am more worried about the walkers. I won't get one because we have a stairway he could fall down (God Forbid) should the stair gate fail.

Food
Six months old tomorrow :D and nothing but breastmilk yet.
He seems sooooooo ready, so we'll just give him Earth's Best rice cereal with BM starting tomorrow.
Though I will admit that I found some Good Start jars of formula (liquid) at Target and picked them up in anticipation. Since I'll start introducing him to formula right after Christmas I want to be ready and NOT have to go to Target then! Scary!

Portraits
I may do some myself here since he's in such a good mood 1st thing in the morning. We have a Santa outfit, or I can put him in his Xmas outfit. Or both. :) If they don't come out, we can go to Penny's or something.

You crack me up. :) No, you don't sound crazy! I think we can tell when our kids are "ready". Happy 6 months Asher!!
And as a non-Jew I don't have any problems with your posting that commercial...I think it's cool! And, IMO, you look totally sexed up which makes me smile. You don't wear short skirts and eyeliner when we get together! ;)

Shopping
I do a lot of little-thing shopping, so since I wrapped most of the gifts yesterday I realized how much I got DS. Oops! :o I thought I was going to take it easy this year...mind you, some of its clothes, pjs, necessities.

Humidifier Drama
So ours was too small and the cool mist was COLD. So I bought a fancy-shmancy warm mist one since Thomas' rash is back and my nose is do dry it has been bleeding a little. He can't be comfortable!
So after hauling this beast home and setting it up, I discover it's broken and need to return it. However, it did prove me right that our place is dry: it tells you the humidity level of the room which for us went from 41% before bed to 23% in the morning. Crazy! They say 40-50% is comfortable, and you can go even higher if you prefer it.
So I need to go BACK to Target today (ugh) to exchange the humidifier. I wonder if steaming the bedroom up will help with his sleep?
I hope so.

Off to shower, go to Target then have a friend over to watch DS while I drag all the Xmas stuff out of the storage. Busy busy busy...

Roseanne,
That commercial is awesome! You look fabulous and I love Asher's little cameo appearance. :D
Crap, now I sound crazy/radical, and I swear, I'm just normal...

ROTFL!!! Not at all. I honestly feel like we started Caroline before she was 100% ready, but it's what the Ped suggested for us.

Kim,
Sorry about the humidifier drama. We need to set ours up as well. It's been sooo dry here.

Roseanne: You looked great. How cool that you got to do a commercial. :p Our very own celebrity.

Kim: Yikes about the humidifier fiasco. What a pain. We have one in DS's room, but we really need one in ours, too. The dry heat is so bad. Hope your portraits come out nice. :)

Portraits: We had pics taken at Sears this morning. They came out sooo cute! The photographer even got him to smile! LOL!

jmvan: Glad to hear your photos turned out well. We are going this weekend. I am hopeful that DD will be her normal smiley self.

Kim: Ugh- what a hassle to return the humidifer. We have one set up by DD's PNP during her cold, but it is not that good and I can't honestly tell a difference. We could use a new one as well.

Exersaucer: DD will sit in ours for 10-20 mins, which allows me to do some things in the kitchen. IMHO, as long as DD doesn't spend too much time in there, I'm not worried. She plays on the floor a lot at DC.

Roseanne: Congrats on Asher's 6 mos birthday! It's hard to believe he's that old- time really flies!

Dreshny Hmmm, that's what they all say!:D Good for you for holding off until your child is ready! If my mother had had her way DD would have had cereal at 4 weeks:rolleyes: As it is I wish we could have waited.

jmvan74 Glad your pictures came out! We decided to do out own because we were nervous about how DD would be. She tends to be a bit quiet in new situations.

Excersaucer - I have become convinced that anything a baby likes and gives parents a few moments of free time will be panned by the "experts"

spps~Adorable pic of DS!

Julie~How cute about DS with the water bottle! Glad the portraits came out!!

Kelsey:I hope that your DD smiled nice for the camera! I was surprised when Collin did. :D

Kate: Collin doesn't usually smile for pic, he just stares, but the photographer was great. ;)

Roseanne: Asher is doing a great job sitting up. He looks so happy.

Naamah:LOL! Shylah sure does have a lot to say. :p

Okay, so I ordered The No Cry Sleep Solution and Solving Your Child's Sleep Problems(Ferber). I don't know what to do. I tried CIO and he screamed for 45 minutes before I picked him up b/c I couldn't take it anymore. He will scream forever. DH and I really need to get some sleep. I know he's teething and that makes it even harder. :( Boo hoo!
I finished most of my Xmas shopping this weekend and wrapped what I have so far. I ended up spending less than that I thought. When I was buying for DS I actually bought less since he really won't know the difference. I bought him mostly stack and sort type toys, but I also bought him some big crayons and paper...yes, I am going to attempt "coloring" with him :D , a nursery rhyme book and a new CD for us to sing along to.

hey ladies..snowy sunday here in NY..anyway, Bens schedule has changed..he always falls asleep ont eh bottle and then i put him right in his crib for a nap..he used to eat play nap now its eat nap and play...things are always changing. I start back at work on Wed. so my mind is trying to get into that..

jmvan: i hear that teething changes everythign as far as the baby soothing themselves to sleep. Ben has started teething and sometimes cries when we leave the room..i think he is just uncomfortable so every night is a different story.

does anyone know the weight limit for teh Graco Toile swing? I still put DS in it occasionally while i am running around the house..otherwise he rolls everywhere - off the blankets and bangs his noggin on our wooden floor.

We have Rhiley's 6 month WBV and I have a list going! I wish she would roll over already! She is doing this squeal/scream thing when we put her down on the floor, and helicopters around. She doesn't seem unhappy though so maybe she's just testing out her voice? In some ways she's ahead of the curve and in others not so much. DH does have relatives with developmental disabilities so I want to make sure that DD is on target and if not we get help sooner rather than later.
We may get her a new excersuacer after Christmas, the one she has now is a hand me down and doesn't have much activities, but we are going to check with the Dr. at her visit before buying.
Rhiley has been fussy and everyone has mentioned teething but I really don't think that's it. Both DH and I were late teethers and I don't think DD will get teeth anytime soon. Maybe a growth spurt?

Did anyone color their hair while pg the last time? I had made an appointment before I got my BFP because I noticed some gray right in front. I really don't want to cancel (you should see this gray, I feel like a skunk) and it seems like anything I've read "assumes" there could possibly be a risk. What do you all think?

jmvan74
12-05-2005, 07:43 AM
MrsChappy:I'm not sure about the weight limit, but when I needed to find the limit for my Graco swing I looked it up by looking at the product online. If it is an open top Graco....it has a 25lb weight limit. here's an example..

Hub: I had my hair highlighted in the second trimester...I usually do a foil, but had them use a cap, so less would come in contact with my scalp. I figured by the second tri...most of the important stuff was in tact! :p

Hub-I colored my hair after the first trimester, maybe the 13th week or so. I used a semi-permanent which was only on my head about 10 minutes and kept all the windows open for ventilation.

CHRISTMAS PHOTOS

We decorated our tree last weekend and I found a baby Santa hat in the box of decorations. I always put it on our gumball machine in the family room (it's the perfect size) but this year we have an actual baby to put it on. Apparently, her head is the same size as a gumball machine. LOL!

http://images.snapfish.com/34569%3C6%3B23232%7Ffp336%3Enu%3D323%3B%3E574%3E2% 3B6%3EWSNRCG%3D3233374772%3B2%3Anu0mrj

We braved the crowds at the mall yesterday and visited Santa despite a 1/2 hour wait and my migraine headache. You weren't supposed to take personal photos but DH snuck one in before politely being asked to put away the camera. His "secret" photo turned out better than the 5x7 we bought (for 11 flippin' bucks!). I do have to say this was a terrific Santa. He had a real beard, was so nice with the kids and totally knew the best way to keep a baby from shrieking in fright. Instead of candy canes, which is what I remember getting as a kid, Santa gave out rubber duckies dressed like Santa. So cute!

http://images.snapfish.com/34569%3C6%3B23232%7Ffp335%3Enu%3D323%3B%3E574%3E2% 3B6%3EWSNRCG%3D3233374772%3C24nu0mrj

A quick shot of me with Alexa so you can see the bow I had to balance on her head. It would not stay in for the life of me! The poor kid has about 5 hairs!

Roseanne,
Asher is such an adorable, happy baby. I love those big, brown eyes!

Naamah,
Only this time, I get to have the baby first while you have the earlier due date! Okay?
LOL! We'll see. We can work out the details later. ;) BTW, I got the coupons on Saturday...thank you so much!

Julie,
i hear that teething changes everythign as far as the baby soothing themselves to sleep.
I've also read that separation anxiety begins to kick in around 6 months, so it could be either scenario.

Kate,
Caroline does a shreaky thing too. Sometimes, it sounds almost like she is struggling for air, but it's just her way of expressing delight.

Sophia,
Alexa is a doll! Look at those cheeks! I want to nibble on one. LOL!
Apparently, her head is the same size as a gumball machine.
Good to know! LOL!

Julie ~ Glad the pictures came out good.

Liz ~ I think she really surprised a lot of the people that were at the movie. I think they expected that any baby that little would scream/cry at some point during the movie.

Excersaucer/walker ~ What ever you want to call it (not sure), DD loves hers. DH's grandma wanted to get her one last weekend so we went to see if they had any. It was a BIG hit with DD. She can already make herself go backwards and this weekend she went forwards in it! It has activities/things to keep her entertained. The only problem I could possibly see is if you let the child get too close to a stairway that is going down. But it seems that sometimes the people that think they know what's best for babies don't like anything that gives parents a break, no matter how short that break is.

Dreshny ~ Adorable little picture! Already doing so well sitting up.

Namaah ~ I've never seen the old one. The new one is excellent. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD. I almost think that they will be making a second one in a few years. Like they did with Cheaper by the Dozen.

hub ~ Hope everything goes well at the WBV.

squeal/scream ~ It's DD's most favorite activity sometimes. At first it was hard to determine if she was unhappy, starting to cry, or just simply wanted to hear her voice. Mostly it's just wanting to hear her own voice. Sometimes the things she says are just too darn funny and we laugh and laugh so hard.

Hair Coloring ~ I get my hair highlighted (with the cap) and did so while I was pregnant. If I remember correctly it wasn't until March. I was too sick during the first 20 weeks to even think about highlighting my hair. A very close friend of ours is a beauty operator and I had been talking to her about having it highlighted. She said it was no problem and safe but she liked to wait until after the first trimester. We put a towel over my face so I didn't breathe in the smell from the chemicals as much. If I wouldn't have had the towel over my face I probably would have gotten sick immediately.

sophia ~ Cute pictures!! We saw the prices for the pictures with Santa when we were at the mall the night before Thanksgiving and then last week (2 different malls). They are really expensive!! They really shouldn't be that high considering that some kids don't respond all that well to Santa. So you pay X amount for a picture with your (general) kid screaming and crying. Not exactly what I want to spend a ton of money on. Nor do I think that others would want to do that either. How cute that Santa gave out rubber duckies.

This past weekend was DH's unit's Christmas party. Saturday night was the adult's party and Sunday was the children's party. We left DD with a good friend of ours while we went on Saturday night. We didn't want to leave her with just anyone (i.e. a teenager that didn't have much experience with a baby) even though we were given the names of a couple of people. Plus we didn't know them. Not exactly who we wanted to leave DD with for a few hours.

She was the hit at the children's party. Everyone loved her. And she wasn't even the youngest baby there. There was one that was born about a week ago. She did excellent with Santa. When it was her turn to visit Santa she didn't even cry. She let him hold her and then she started playing with and grabbing his beard. We knew she would because she loves to play and grab any kind of hair. I'll have to transfer the pictures and post some of them. Santa gave each child a bookmark that has a story on it. There was also crafts (a necklace/bracelet, a stocking, a snowflake, and a magnet stations). And they had ice cream, sprinkles, toppings, and candy.

Trying to get the house decorated for Christmas. I want this to be a special Christmas since it's going to be her first one. And you only get to have your first one once. I can't imagine how many presents she is going to have under the tree come Christmas. I know it's going to be quite a few. Some of them are clothes that she will be wearing after Christmas (she didn't have that many 6-9 month size clothes) and we just decided to wrap them all up. She has a few toys (Baby LeapPad and 3 books, a bounce and giggle pig, a couple learning DVDs, Weebles, and some books). She has a few 'Baby's First Christmas' ornaments as well. And then her high chair. We have one thing left to get (the Ocean Wonders Aquarium that goes on the crib) and then she'll be done for Christmas.

Could you take out my WC name on the first page? I think that we have been here long enough that people know who I am now! :)

I love all the pictures! Every one of our babies is adorable, if I do say so myself! It is finally cold enough (50s  )here to feel like Christmas time! I have been celebrating by putting hats on Dean :)
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/8107/dec400625av.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Rolling onto belly in crib- Dean has been rolling over for awhile, but he would never do it consistently. Now he will roll onto his belly when I put him in his crib, and it makes him *so* mad! He cries and cries until we come flip him over. He has rolled from his belly to his back a ton of times, but I guess he can't make the connection  . Anyone else have this problem? What did you do? I don't want to teach him that all he has to do to get attention is flip onto his belly!

Megan: I love baby hats, too. We've been calling Asher "the man of many hats," LOL. And Dean's a cutie.

sophia: You probably hear it all the time, but Alexa looks just like you! When do I get to meet you guys in person?

I feel weird posting the same pictures on both the May and June threads, since a lot of us are subscribed to both. So if you want to see pictures of Asher playing in his new crib (but napping next to it) check out the May thread.

Hmmm, does she really look like me or do I just look like a chubby 6 month old? ;) Yes, I do get that all the time and I totally agree. It's sort of fun having a mini-me. :D
Hey, I do want to meet up with you and the whole NY/NJ contingent. I'm very envious of all the get togethers and movie mornings you have. Unfortunately, between work and commuting into the city, I really have to plan something specific. Maybe we can do something in January?

I feel weird posting the same pictures on both the May and June threads, since a lot of us are subscribed to both.

Okay, I actually have to admit something here. I'm afraid to join the May/June thread because Sabrinag is listed on the members list. When we were both on the Junebugs thread, people were constantly mixing us up. You know, Sophia and Sabrina, both with the twins. I don't want to be on the May/June thread and have someone ask how the twins are doing or some other reference like that so I avoid it whenever possible. Yes, I know it's stupid and irrational but this is my safehaven. I only pop over to the May/June thread when someone has specifically mentioned something they posted and then I quickly leave. :o

Dreshny I melted when I saw Asher sleeping. I just want to snuggle him. I also love the snow-eating photo. He looks scared but curious. :D

Megan-OMG, I just want to kiss those chubby cheeks. He looks like a little teddy bear all bundled up.

Dreshny

Sophia: I never mixed you up with Sabrina! But if it makes you feel any better, Sabrina's been MIA since she had her twins. I think she only posted once.

Yes, please, let's plan something for January! Kim and Ally, are you in?

hub~I hear you on the rolling!! DD still has yet to roll from back to front. She just has know desire to do so! Rhiley has been fussy and everyone has mentioned teething but I really don't think that's it. Both DH and I were late teethers and I don't think DD will get teeth anytime soon. Maybe a growth spurt? Same here. Growth spurt seems to make the most sense for us, especially since she has been eating & sleeping more.

sophia~The Christmas photos are so cute!! Alexa's definately a keeper! I understand your worry about joining the May/June thread, but I haven't "seen" Sabrina since she had the twins.

LIZ~No problem! I was wondering how long they would take to reach you!

Meri~Love your new avatar!! Glad you liked the new one! I probably won't get to see it until it hits DVD due to Harry Potter and Narnia eating up all of our extra cash! ;)

Megan~Cute pic of Dean!

Dreshny~Cute pics! How did Asher like the snow?

It's been both a sad and crazy day here. In addition to all my usual running around the house, I decided to go attempt finishing up Christmas shopping. As I was heading out the door, I recieved an email saying that one of my college professors passed away last Saturday. :( I am just numb over the news. So, I blew off Christmas shopping (with the exception of one item), and ran over to campus to visit the business school where hid office was. Then, thanks to all the construction, it tooke me an hour to get home rather than the usual 15 minutes! Ugh! I am so tired. I may go take a late afternoon nap!

hi everyone...
trying to keep up..i don't really go on the may/june thread as much as this...Ben turns 6 mos on thurs (my second day back to work). I am very anxious and cry to DH everynight..if i can just get over the first few weeks i know i will be fine. my nanny is working out well and ben is well taken care of. its my own psychosis of the fact that i haven't been away from him that long in a while. Commuting into NYC seems far now (never did before). I think the anticipation is getting to me but i knew this day would come and have been dreading it since i stopped working memorial day weekend. I remember waiting for the baby to come and thinking how wonderful it was to be carefree of work. I am thankful that i have been able to take this much time off. Anyway, i am going back wed, thurs and fridays. They are letting me bring Ben next tues to our holiday party and are allowing me not to work that friday since i am c
