Is it safe to crunches while pregnant?

I did them with a personal trainer the first trimester or so. As soon as your OB wants you off your back (some say 12 weeks, some say 20 weeks, others say something else), stop them.
Congrats!

my OB ok'd ab work throughout pregnancy as long as after around 20 weeks, i nix the ab exercises that involve laying flat on my back. :)

My OB said to not do ab work after 4 months because of being on my back but he's been ok w/ me doing ab work in my water aerobics class - obviously not putting any pressure on the back in the water.

What about with the Ab Lounge - since you aren't really laying flat on the floor?

PS - Not PG, just curious! :D

My MWs have approved ab exercises throughout pregnancy - even if it means being on my back for short periods of time. They've all pretty much told me to do what's comfortable for me and if something feels 'off', stop. That's what I did w/my first pregnancy and that's what I'm doing now. I'm 23 weeks pg now and pretty much the only thing I truly can't do is Pilates-type moves that involve laying on your stomach - that isn't comfy, but I can handle most other things, albeit usually slower or fewer reps than the instructor ;)

My midwives just said to stop if they got uncomfortable. I did them for all 40 weeks--my water broke while doing sit-ups!
