"Terrified" is actually putting it lightly. DS is 2 1/2 yrs and we just enrolled him part time in the daycare across the street from our house. Since we moved here a year ago, he's been watching the kids get dropped off and picked up and he hears them in the back playing and he's always been curious. Now that he gets dropped off and picked up himself, he can't stand it. He only goes mornings on Mondays and Thursdays and he's been there 5 times so far. The first 2 times went great but at this point, I don't know how I'm going to get him across the street tomorrow. One of his teachers came out yesterday and waved to him while we were in front of the house and when she started moving towards us, he bolted. Ran into the house and upstairs to hide behind mommy's bed. When he came back down, he was crying hysterically and shaking saying he wants to go home (we were home). I don't know what to do. The teachers say he does play with the other kids but he's starting to cry more during the day. When I went to get him on Monday, they were in the middle of lunch and he was sitting there making crying faces until he saw me. I'm trying to peak an interest in it while we're home but the mere mention of the word school brings tears to his eyes. Any suggestions?
