Any recommendations for how to clean an engagement ring (gold ring with center diamond and channel set diamonds on the side). Its getting pretty dirty and I need to clean it. Thanks :D

Quick and easy way... take an old toothbrush and give it a scrub!

Also, maybe I'm on crack, but I've found that using toothpaste does wonders with maintaining your sparklies. No, seriously!

I usually bring it back to the jewlry store where DH purchsed it and they clean it free. :)

You can try Windex too--I use Windex and an old toothbrush.

My jewelry cleaner came from Walmart. I can't remember what the name of it is but it comes in a red container about the size of a peanut butter jar or something (just go to the jewelry section..it should be around there). Drop your ring into the container, leave for about 10 seconds, brush it with the cute little brush they give you, then rinse under lukewarm water. It's so easy and mess free I do it all the time..I love to see my rings sparkle.

I love Razzle Dazzle. You can use it on any kind of jewelry.

Toothpaste is great, but don't use any with grit in it, like baking soda.

A diluted vinegar solution is decent too.

When I worked in a jewelry store we had a great steam machine with a jet blast. Nothing cleans like those things, but they're major $$$.

My ering has its own toothbrush. :D I bought a travel-size one at Target & keep it in a drawer in the bathroom. About once a week or so I put a few drops of dish soap in a cup of warm water & drop the ring in to soak. After a few minutes, I brush it, rinse it & it's good as new!

I also bought cleaner for just a few dollars, from Walmart its stuff you can use on pearls, diamonds and gold. If not my jeweler told me not to use toothpaste, he said whats better is if you have laundry detergent not the liquid kind the other kind and put it in a cup with warm water and let the rings soak for a little bit and then scrub with a toothbrush it works well.

I take it to the store where DH got it and they do it for free. :D Plus they gave me cleaning stuff for in between, and everytime I got in there they ask if I need more.

I cannot wait to get it polished again. It was so bright and shiny then.......

I use the crystal detergent, although I do micro the water to almost boiling first to dissolve, and then let it soak & brush it.

My stepmother uses an ammonia & hot water blend -- she's been doing it for years & years and it has never harmed or loosened anything, despite my fears about ammonia being so harsh. Her rings are yellow gold.

This is how I clean my rings:

-Add hot water with a drop of dish soap into a dish, drop rings in for a couple minutes to soak
-Use toothbrush to clean.
-Take another dish with a drop of ammonia, soak ring for about a minute.
-Rinse, they turn out sparkling!

(I heard that ammonia is the best way to get your diamonds sparkly.)

My jeweler recommended this same procedure and it works very well. I don't even need to use a toothbrush.

Dish detergent and a soft toothbrush. Toothpaste works well, too.

I use salicytic acid soap (neutrogena) when I wash my face. My ring sparkles and shines brightly.

Just be careful with the toothbrushes, ladies... my stone loosened a bit by using one.

I use rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush. Get rid of all the natural oils from touching it. I've also heard that dish soap works too. I'd be weary of toothpaste because of a residue it would leave on the diamond.

Am I the only one who has jewellery cleaner at home? I think I have a few things of it. I also take it to be cleaned at the jewellery store.

I use ammonia, dish soap and hot water. 6 parts water to one part ammonia. I let them sit for 30 mins. They look cloudy until you rinse them off. I also take a tiny brush to it while rinsing. Then I dry with cotton makeup discs.

Anything with ammonia will do the trick. Razzle Dazzle (if I remember correctly) is all-natural, so no ammonia. I've used it and I don't think it works very well. You could always go to a jewelry store b/c they have great machines that clean jewelry beautifully!

I have jewelry cleaner that our jeweler gave to us when DH bought my e-ring. I'll use that and an old toothbrush.

I have one, but it's such a pain to get it out and plug it in. Using the toothbrush with dish detergent is quicker for me.
