Hey Natasha...it's Jen from the WC. These boards bring back memories of the WC :( *sniffle*
Anyways, now we 2007 brides actually have someplace to go. I'm going to be flip flopping between here and the WC. I'm getting used to the new boards, but still don't like them. Hopefully I'll have it easier here.
Well, I'll be back later!!

Jen, yeah, I'll flip flop too, but I am glad we have a home here! I love these boards!
Celicacutie--Feel free to plan along with us! :D yeah, 7/7/07 is fun. My mom just got married on 5/5/05, so we're keeping up the tradition!

Okay, so Tim and I were supposed to go for a tasting about a month ago but the couple wasn't having any of the things we wanted to, and were actually having family style and we want plated dinners.
Anyways, backtracking a little...when Tim and I went for a tour of the hall we were talking to Holly (VERY nice coordinator) and she told us off the bat that it's our wedding, and our money so we should act like it and not get walked all over. She also told us that with tastings, if there was something not being served the chef would make us a smaller portion of whatever we wanted.
Now with that in mind, I told her we would like to have a smaller portion of the tenderloin and chicken dinner for our "supposed to be" tasting. Holly then informed me that Reuben, the chef, really didn't order that big of a piece of meat for that small of a portion.
I'm sorry, wasn't she the one who told us we could have whatever smaller portion that we wanted?? Well, after that I told her we were cancelling if we couldn't get the tenderloin and she assured me there would be a wedding soon with that combo plate and would call me very soon to schedule.
So here we are a month later and Tim and I are getting very antsy b/c we REALLY want this place, but there was no way I was letting her know. So I gave her a call today and fibbed just a little;) I was VERY nice and polite throughout the whole conversation. I simply informed her that their hall was the last place we needed to have a tasting from b/c we'd like to make our reception decision soon. She then proceeded to tell me that we were saving the best for last and asked how the other tastings went. I simply said "They were pretty nice."
So I'm expecting her to say we'll wait a while for another wedding with that option but she says, "Hold on, I'll go talk to Reuben." So here's the shocker!! She comes back and tells me *gasp* they're having a "custom" tasting this weekend with another couple at 7:30 and they can fit us in at 8:00 with whatever we want!
I was so proud of myself b/c I'm the typical "nice girl" but today I wasn't and I got good results:D I just had to share this and hope to give a little advice to everyone to use whatever leverage you can (true or not) to get what you want.

Jen, don't hate me, but I may be switching to Fall of 06. I don't think I can have a wedding in heat like this!

Okay girls...we officially have a "tentative" hold on our date for the hall we went to the tasting at tonight I am SO excited!! Tim took a bunch of pictures of the hall on his camera. Unfortunately the hall wasn't set up for a wedding of our size so we're going back next weekend to take some pictures with the room fully set up and with the dance floor in place.
So they served us the exact menu we chose for the mock reception dinner:
First we got our soup and salad (I kinda felt like I was at Olive Garden)
- Fresh baked French bread(YUM!!) It was nice and warm when we got it.
- Tossed salad with roasted red peppers.
- Lemon rice soup(ooh my favorite)
Appetizers(I really don't know why we didn't get those first, but oh well
- Italian meatballs with marninara sauce. They weren't anything special but were very good.
- Spanikopita(filo dough stuffed with spinach and feta cheese) It was SO good, but they were a little too rich for me.
Entree(We chose a combo platter instead of having two choices and running the risk of confusion)
- 8 ounce filet with a mushroom sauce. The steak was SO tender...we didn't have to cut it much. We could just tear the meat apart. The only thing I didn't like was the doneness. I think it was supposed to be medium, but it was a little less. It was still good though (wasn't mooing;)) I really wasn't blown over by the sauce on top but it was still VERY good.
- 6 ounce chicken breast with a lemon and white wine sauce. This was THE most tender and juicy chicken breast I've ever had. It was delicious.
- 6 ounce chicken breast with a rosemary and white wine sauce. Again, it was SO tender and juicy. I will leave the chicken decision up to Tim b/c he's a little more picky than I am.
- Rosemary roasted potatoes. I think they were left over and reheated from the party earlier. They were okay, but I think we're going to change our mind on those.
-Asparagus. Didn't eat it b/c I was getting too stuffed
-Vegetable medly(broccoli, cauliflower, carrots). I don't know where you could go wrong with these 3. They were delicious.
Dessert
- Peppermint ice cream.
Tim's first reaction: Ooh...this looks so good and it's my favorite.
Jen's first reaction: Ooh...these are our colors!(Only a girl would think of that;))
It was the traditional pink peppermint with a little swirl of green mint syrup or sauce over it. Again, you really can't go wrong with it.
It's not the most elaborate menu I've seen around here but I think it'll please a large majority of people.
Oh...and children 12 and under get chicken fingers and fries for 7.95(cheap cheap)
Alrighty, hopefully I'll remember to get Tim's camera tomorrow and post those pictures. I'll get them up asap.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and enjoy the (hopefully) beautiful weather!!

Alrighty....here are the pictures from our reception hall. We haven't seen the place when it's set up for a 200+ person reception with the dance floor, but we got pictures of the wall that will come down. So without further ado;)

This is the table that they set up for us. They gave us the WHOLE room full of tables but we got our own table for 2(how romantic!)

This is one of the centerpieces that you can rent. We really dont like this one but I do like the vase/pedestal.
The following are all miscellaneous pictures of the one side of the hall we were on.

These are pictures of side 2...you can see the wall partition - it slides into the wall to open the whole room. The dance floor is 36' by 36'...it is moveable and will be in between the 2 rooms when it's opened up.

This is the set up of the head table. Excuse the blurry picture:) More than likely Tim and I will have a "sweetheart" type table up on the top and have the bridal party in front of us. Either that or have the MOH and BM up top with us and the rest of the party in front of us. We've got plenty of time to figure that out.
Well that's all we have for now. Hopefully you all enjoy!!
