I was just wondering what everyone used for their recessional song after the ceremony. If you want to include your other music too, that would be great!
thanks

I had just a harp player and she did a beautiful job. I had Canon in D, Bridal Chorus, and Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, in that order for the ceremony. I wanted my recessional song to be Wedding March, but she didn't know it and I was so disappointed. She was a very accomplished player, but still in high school and she didn't do many weddings. She decided to go with Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring and it was perfect. She played it a bit up tempo and it had a very joyful and happy feeling to it. I was very pleased with it all and so glad that I had the harpist and not the organ. I had been warned about the church's organ player! I guess that she had a real tendency to pound while she played and blast church members out of their seats. ;)

We originally wanted "Happy Together" by the Turtles, but when there was a problem with the CD, our DJ played "It Had To Be You" by Frank Sinatra instead. When we found out that our CD didn't work, we asked him to pick a Sinatra song for us (our preference was "Love and Marriage" and if he didn't have that we told him to pick an appropriate one of his songs).

I'm having Celtic Harp & Flute. My mother played the Celtic Harp and knows the lady who's playing, and I love Celtic harp music so that part worked out great. :)
She will play music before the ceremony while people are waiting for things to begin. For all of our ceremony music, I said: "Nothing too popular. No Greensleeves, no Titanic, no Canon In D." The bridesmaids will walk up the aisle to "Innishere." I can't remember what I'm walking up to but it's a very lovely song by Gluck. Something about "Blessed Spirit" or something like that (I think it's a little funny that I can never remember what that piece is called).
For our recessional we are doing a Celtic song called "High Mountain." It's joyful and happy and makes ya want to kick up your heels. :)

I don't rightly know what ours will be yet - it hasn't been created yet. FH is a composer, and he'll be writing all the music for our ceremony.

We had a piano soloist, no vocals.
I can't remember all the music I chose but it was several classical and modern pieces for the seating. I can't believe this but I can't remember now what the bridesmaids walked down the aisle to! I walked down to the traditional bridal march. Our unity candle song was the theme from Somewhere in Time.
The recessional--L-O-V-E, (the most famous version is sung by Nat King Cole)

Oh, MrsHill, I know just what you are talking about. I play the flute and performed Dance of the Blessed Spirits by Gluck so many times in high school. It was one that I used at competitions and had piano accompaniment. It really is beautiful and will sound so good on the Celtic harp! :)

We used "Arrival of the Queen of Sheba" for the reccessional. I wanted something upbeat for the pianist to play.
Our prelude music was
-Linus and Lucy
-Prelude in C
-Ribbon in the Sky
I think there was one other song
The bridal party song was
-The Look of Love
DH's song was
-Moonlight Sonata
My song was
-At Last

Hooray, Stephanie! That's exactly the one! Now I will know it is here in this "Recessional Songs" thread and will never forget the name again. :)

Our recessional is going to be All You Need is Love by the Beatles. We both love the song, and when we saw it in the film love actually, we knew we wanted that.
Our bridesmaids are walking up to With or Without You by U2, except it's all strings, and I am walking up to She's The One by Robbie Williams performed on the piano.

We did Ain't That A Kick In The Head by Dean Martin. It was swingy, upbeat, and celebrational and everyone got a kick out of it!

We walked out to 'I've got the world on a string' by Frank Sinatra. I walked up the aisle to 'Can I have this dance' by Mary Chapin Carpendar. We didn't have any traditional wedding songs in our music and it was great. It really fit us.

Ours was The Who's "Baba O'Riley" We timed it say that we would be announced right before the drums kicked in. Definitely my husband's pick, but everyone thought it was so cool and unique. Made the moment absolutely sureal. It will be our soundtrack for the rest of our lives!!!
