Inspired by the other thread....
Anyone interested in getting together after Labor Day for a weekday meet for local new moms, SAHMs...and even soon-to-be moms?
What day/area is easiest for everyone?

Oooh...me! Count me in. Thanks, Kim for starting this thread! I'm in Manhattan, high UWS, Columbia area, but I'll travel pretty much anywhere, including NJ, as long as it's accessible to public transportation. And I'm pretty open as to the day...

Oh, oh, oh... count me in, i think. It will depend where...Nic's not good with long car rides yet, although we're working on it. We're in Jersey (on the border of Monmouth/Ocean counties)...

Yay! :D
I am thinking maybe we can meet up at one of the parks on the piers in Hoboken?? This way NYC girls can hop on the PATH or ferry, both which drop you off within a quick walk from it. And NJ girls can drive in and park.
Once we get everyone interested, I'll swing over to that area to chose the best spot and post directions.
Is there a weekday best for you two? I'm thinking to do it the week after Labor Day...

Funny, I had that same thought last night, but was too tired to post it (I'm pretty familiar with Hoboken.) Please pick a spot with a bathroom nearby, okay? :)

Hi Kim, Not a NY mom but I lurked because I knew you were trying to get moms together and I popped in here when I saw the thread to see how your plight was going. Glad to see you are making headway!
i am interested but i live in queens and it would be nearly impossible for me to get to hoboken w/ my dd. hope you guys have a great time and if ever you are going to do a GTG in the city i will be there. :D

09-07-2005, 06:47 PM
Okay, ladies! It looks like all next week will be sunny and low 80's.
Is Tuesday the 13th or Wednesday the 14th better for you all?
Shall we meet in a park under some shady trees, or do you prefer a coffee shop?
Option 1: A Park
- If we do this, I am thinking we meet in a shady spot around 11am or so. We can bring our blankets and let the kids play together. This way it's not too hot yet, and those who want to grab lunch after we've had our fun in the sun can do so.
Option 2: Coffee
- There is a Barnes & Noble with a Starbucks inside at the end of Washington Street that's closest to the PATH station and right next to parking. We could meet for coffee and chat there, or walk from there to the park....or shop. :)
Let me know your preferences, and we'll get this planned out before the weekend! YAY!

09-08-2005, 06:03 AM
I don't have anything planned either day... hopefully nic will behave himself in the car so we can come :) (but, if i end up standing you guys up, it because nic was a head case in the car and we turned around cause mommy couldn't take it...)
Oh, and I vote for the park too... we can always move to the coffee shop later. Or, would it be easier to find each other in the coffee shop and then move to the park? (which park? if i remember right, theres a ton of them)

Hi
I vote for Wedenesday (9/14) and I also vote for meeting up in the park!
Kim, If I'm coming from the city can I take a Water Taxi over or do I have to get on the Path? I'm not so fond of bringing him underground (subways and such) just yet.
Let me know and thanks so much for organizing!

09-08-2005, 06:27 PM
Ok....I'll be there tomorrow and will pick a park. Once I do that, I'll post all the commuting info (train, ferry & driving).
Let's say Wednesday at a park. yay! So close to being totally planned! :)

The NJ/NYC Get-Together!
When: Wednesday September 14th 11am-Whenever
Where: Park in Hoboken on the Hudson River (directions below)
How to Find Each Other: I will be under the trees in the park with a sign & my son :)
Directions
From NYC...
...by train: Take the PATH to Hoboken Station ($1.50 each way, website with train schedules and station locations is http://www.nj.com/njtransit/path.html ).
When you walk out of the train station, you will be on Hudson Place at the corner of River Street. Walk straight onto River Street, and the 2nd block will be First Street.
Turn right onto First (you will be walking toward the Hudson River).
At the end of First you will come to Veteren's Way, and will see the park with a big fountain and American Flag. We will meet under the trees just past the fountain and to the left.
...by ferry: Take the NY Waterways ferry from the WFC to Hoboken South ($3.50 each way, website with ferry schedules and pier locations at http://www.newyorkwaterway.com/hoboken_wldfinctr.html ).
When you walk out of the ferry stop, you will be by the PATH station on Hudson Place at the corner of River Street. Follow directions above.
...by car: Take the Lincoln Tunnel into NJ. Once you exit the Tunnel, stay to your right and enter the 'exit' that says "Weehawken/Hoboken".
At the 2nd light, take a left (at the gas station).
Then take your first right at the light, going between Dyke's Lumber and the gas station.
Go through 1 light, take a left at the 2nd light onto 14th Street.
Follow a few blocks, turn right onto Washington Street.
Follow Washington all the way down (about 13 blocks) and turn left onto First Street.
Follow this straight towards the Hudson River until you can't go any further: that's the park in front of you. There is parking all over that area.
*** Note on parking in Hoboken: There are 2 kinds of parking signs! White signs with green lettering are OK to park in - these are metered spots or 4 hour parking. Green signs with white lettering are permit parking only. Park here without a permit and your car will be booted immediately, about $150 to get removed. ***
From NJ...
...by PATH: Just take it to the Hoboken Station (see website and directions above).
...by Light Rail: Take it to the Hoboken Station (website for shcedules and maps at http://www.njtransit.com/sf_lr.shtml ). Follow directions above from PATH, since it stops at the same terminal.
...by other NJ Transit: here is the main website with all the bus and train schedules at http://www.njtransit.com/ .There are so many bus and train options I can't list them all here, but you just want to take them into the Hoboken station, which is the same one the PATH, ferry & Light Rail.
...by car: you want to get to the intersection of First Street & Veterens Way (MapQuest can help you with directions) then find street parking. If you want to park in a serviced lot or garage, there are a few within blocks of the park. I can get the addresses if interested.
Any other directions needed, just post here and I'll help you out. :) YAY!
Roll call: Who will be there?

We'll be there. What's the name of the park, by the way? (I once did a play in all of the Hoboken parks, so I wondered which one this was.)
kimthebride
09-10-2005, 03:12 PM
It might be Sinatra Park...but don't hold me to it! It's the very 1st park on the waterfront. Pretty nice.
See you two there!
Dreshny
09-10-2005, 03:55 PM
Nah, Sinatra Park looks like an amphitheatre and has a snack bar. I think I know which one you mean, though.
Kasia216
09-10-2005, 06:29 PM
Count me in! I'm hoping the weather stays as beautiful as it's been!
Thanks for posting directions as well. Have not decided how I will get there yet as I'm not sure I'll bring my stroller or not and that will dictate my transportation.
What do you think --- Should we bring our lunch?
Can't wait to meet everyone!!!
kimthebride
09-11-2005, 06:39 AM
Re: Food (the All-Important Topic ;) )
Since I am close by, I'll bring something for us to snack on (likely fruit etc). This way, those interested in grabbing lunch together can do so after we have some time to get acquainted. Washington Street is only a few blocks away, so we could walk over and grab lunch somewhere - there's Mexican, a Panera Bread (sandwiches, soup, salad), Pita Grille, Japanese, literally everything you could want.
Sound good?
Dreshny: I have a feeling that the entire waterfront park (which as you know is - of and on - the entire length of Hoboken) is called Sinatra Park. All the other little parks scattered about are called other names.
BTW: This is who you will be looking for!
(I wear thin wire glasses)

hi. we're planning to come as long as nic doesn't freak out in the car. I'm gonna try and time it right for nap time ... so i might be a lil late. Can i pm someone a cell phone number in case you guys move on from the park and i'm still on my way? (we're probably just under 1 1/2 hrs away ... more with traffic/nursing breaks) ... i'd hate to come all that way only to miss you all ...
And, is anyone good with a ring sling? i'm having issues with figuring mine out so i usually leave mine home... ill bring it with me if someone can help show me how to use it.... thnx
:)
kimthebride
09-11-2005, 05:56 PM
PM me, I'll def have my cell on me.
As for the ring sling, sorry I can't help you there. DS is really funny about carriers! He'll only accept The Ultimate Baby Wrap, and every so often the Nojo sling for a short while.
Dreshny
09-11-2005, 06:55 PM
I'd feel better if I could have a contact number, too. Kim, could you email me at roseanne at ny dot com?
Ring sling: Yeah, I can try to help you. I prefer my pouch sling, but I've used the ring sling, too. (Wow, Nic naps? Asher takes maybe 5 naps a day, but the longest each one lasts is an hour.)

dreshny - you've got mail. :)
If anyone else wants to trade cell#s just in case, let me know.
Weather Update:

argh! I can't make it Wed. Orla's 2 month appt has been pushed from Tue to Wed and we have to go on Wed - we are going to Ireland this weekend and need to get her shots done and done in time for a 'reaction'
have any of you done "Reel Moms"? The Loews theater on 34th St shows movies on Tue at 11a. We have gone 2 times. Hopefully we will be able to go again when get back from Ireland. I like the fact I can see a current movie/get out of the house!
hope you ladies have fun Wed! it would have been nice to meet some of the July mom's and other mom's in the area!

happy - hope to see you there! Tell Nic that Thomas is looking forward to seeing him, so to please rest up. If he's good, Thomas will share his favorite toys. :)
doco - sorry you can't make it. :( I have been meaning to go to the 34th Street Reel Moms, but whenever its a good week for me they are playing something I don't want to see. Figures!
Marisa
09-12-2005, 05:07 PM
Kim, if it's not too late and if you'd all like to meet the famous Joey, we might like to stop by for a bit. :) You're meeting up right around naptime so I don't think we'd stay long, but we're only >10 miles away in Nutley, so it could be our morning outing and he could fall asleep on the way home.
Also -- I have this shirt that my aunt bought me, I don't think she really "got" it though. It says "Made in Hoboken". I think she got it b/c she likes Hoboken, but my DS was "made" in Bloomfield, if you catch my drift. Might your DS be able to wear it? If so, I'll bring it, it's yours.
Dreshny
09-12-2005, 07:17 PM
doco: I was at Reel Moms last week. We saw The Constant Gardener. Were you there?
Marisa: Hope you can come! Maybe you could help me (and happy1) with the ring sling. Right now, only DH wears it, and it works, but he wears it wrong. Somehow the rings always end up in the middle of his back.

no I didn't make it last week - we had a houseguest last Mon night/Tue &
I was afraid to go to that movie anyway - it looked like it might be hard to follow with babies making noise - was it good?
I saw Must Love Dogs and March of the Penquins and was wondering if any WC/CC ladies were there :)
kimthebride
thats what usually happens to me too! when I can make it the movie is something I would never go see! like today its the Exorcism movie and I can't go next week so I know it will be something that I would probably love to see  :p
kimthebride
09-13-2005, 05:25 AM
Marisa
Def come! I think your WC wedding avatar is burned on my brain I saw you around there so often before The Big Move. It'd be nice to meet you in person. And meet Infamous Joey. :)
However, Thomas was Made in Weehawken ;) so that tee may not work. Though I know a handful of moms at the Friday weekly playgroup in Hoboken who could put it to use, lol!
doco
Yeah, I was wondering who the heck came up with playing an EXORCISM movie to a bunch of sleepless moms and newborns. There are so many other movies I'd like to see! Maybe I can PM you next time I see a good movie playing and can make it so we can meet up.
Just a Thought Ladies...
I have a fistful of coupons I am bringing to give away, for things I know I won't use (like Huggies diapers, etc). If anyone has something they'd like to hand over/share you are welcome to it.
Marisa
09-13-2005, 06:27 AM
Right on, we'll plan on it! :)
Just look for this guy:
http://www.treglio.com/album/2005/aug/images/118_1849.jpg
and listen for a mommy-voice saying, "Joey! No, get back here! Wait for me!" :D
Dreshny
09-13-2005, 07:00 AM
Marisa: He got big! (well, he was big already...) :)
doco: Well, I'm easily distracted these days, but The Constant Gardener was still pretty good. I would definitely have been more interested in it without all the babies, though.
Me: Look for a short dark-haired woman with a baby in a sling (or a baby attempting to jump out of a sling.) If I can post a picture I will, but long story short, we have two separate computers, the camera docks in DH's, he'd have to email me a picture for me to post it, and he's at work right now...

09-13-2005, 05:49 PM
I'm hoping to still make it tomorrow.
Here's the problem:
I live on the East Side in Midtown and there is MAJOR Gridlock today and tomorrow as the President is in town and I guess tons of Public Officials as the streets are a complete mess here.
I was planning on renting a car & driving to NJ but that's not going to work as I'll probably move a block an hour with the traffic. I do not use the Subway or Buses with Jackson so the only other way for me to get to NJ is to take a Cab to the Ferry. That will limit what I can take with me - probably his car seat for the Cab & the Bjorn (I wanted to take the stroller :-()
I'll post in the AM to let you guys know yeah or nay! I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone!
lil_nance
09-13-2005, 05:57 PM
Kim I emailed you.
We hope to be there. Connor has a Dr. appt. in the morning. If all goes well, we'll be there. :)
kimthebride
09-13-2005, 06:14 PM
Kasia-
Ak! Can you take the stroller in the back of the cab? I've seen moms do it... does your carseat snap into your stroller for after the cab ride?
We watched the presidential copters scoping out the Hudson the other day - man, they are loud! It's always soooo annoying when Prez comes to town.
Hope to see you there!
nance
Got ya!
NOTE: To those taking the ferry:
Make sure you take the WFC ferry to the Hoboken SOUTH stop. Otherwise, you will be on the Hoboken North one that drops you 14 blocks away from your destination and there are no cabs there. Yikes.
But...
If you are in Midtown (and hate going downtown) you can always take the NY Waterways ferry from 38th Street to Port Imperial (in Weehawken), and take a cab from there to the park. The cab would be about $8. Just tell them you want to go to those cross streets. If you have a car seat, I can always drop you off at the ferry when we're done.
I'll be checking this out in the morning before I go, just in case there are any other questions. See you all there - just look for the yellow sign! :D

UGH! I really, really want to come but I'm trying to figure out the best way to get there and what I need to bring. Is anyone else bringing strollers? My stroller is such a PITA. The seat does not detach from the base very easily :( and I don't have the adaptors that are needed to attach my car seat UGH AGAIN!!
I was thinking of just popping him and the Bjorn & taking a Cab to the ferry. No Stroller, No Car Seat. I know it's not safe to ride in a Cab with no car seat but all my friends do it (which doesn't make it right...).
I'll post in the morning once I've had a chance to think it through.....
Kim - Can you email me your cell number in case I'm running behind and don't find you girls.
Thanks!
Dreshny
09-13-2005, 07:04 PM
kasia: If it makes you feel any better, I'm also coming from Manhattan, and I'm just taking DS in a sling and my backpack. Besides the fact that DS wants nothing to do with my Bugaboo, I don't even think I could manage the subway and the PATH with DS + backpack + my cheap umbrella stroller. I say Bjorn him.
Kasia216
09-13-2005, 07:22 PM
I'm thinking of walking to the PATH Station on 33rd/6th with the stroller :( . It looks like that station is Handicap accessible so I shouldn't have a problem with getting the stroller down stairs (if any). I swore I wouldn't take Jackson underground just yet as he's only 2 months old and doesn't have any shots yet but it's a short trip so I might bite the bullet. If not then I'll take a Cab and just put him in the Bjorn or Sling :o
Ok so count me back in again.....

09-14-2005, 05:16 AM

I'm sure I'm forgetting a million things, but I think we're packed up (well as long as he doesnt go through more than 2 outfits and 6 diapers ....maybe I'll add a few more just in case) ... I'll have to take a rain check & meet you guys next time as my husabnd just got back from the doctor and was told he has a case of the Chicken Pox! Yes - no joke! I'm flipping out right now cause I hope Jackson has not been infected. I called my Pediatrician and he said Jackson is too young to get the vaccine and it's probably already to late as the virus is usually spread before any of the bumps appear. He might be safe as he has my anti-bodies and I've had the Chicken Pox. My husband was never vaccinated (grew up in Poland) and doesn't remember having them as a child. In any case, I do not want to infect anybody so it's probably best I stay away! Sorry about that and I hope you have a great time. Hope we can do it again in a few weeks :(
Marisa
09-14-2005, 12:29 PM
Kasia, it's too bad, around here we're trying to avoid the chicken pox vax so I actually wouldn't mind if Joey caught it! ;) (He's 20 mos. though -- it's a different story with these other tiny guys!)
Ladies, it was great to meet some of you and see some of you again! Joey had a blast, thanks again Kim for the fruit salad -- he actually ate it and didn't store any for later... :) -- and he was passed out before we made it out of Hoboken. He's still sleeping now! I think he must be making up for our little Teletubbies/molar party from 11 PM - 2 AM, though. All those circles around the park couldn't have hurt though!
Ah, sounds like he's up now. Thanks again ladies, we had fun! :)

definitely PM me if you see a good movie listed - I go back to work 11/7 so I plan on trying to go whenever the movie is good (not scary) since I only have a bit of time left! I keep seeing commercials for "In Her Shoes" with Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette. I have read the book and the movie comes out 10/7 so hopefull 10/11 it will be the mom movie :)

What a great day!
It was so nice to meet you Nancy, Rosa, Roseanne & Marisa! I've never been with a group of all boys before - Thomas had a great time making some new buddies. ;) Amazing how the time really flew by.
Next time we can meet in the city so the Brooklyn/Queens moms can make it too. :)
Kasia - OMG! I hope Jackson is okay and stays spotless. Let's def get together in the city once you get the All Clear. Your poor hubby...
docoNY (& anyone else interested):
Reel Moms at the 34th Street Loews is playing "Just Like Heaven" on Tuesday 9/20 at 11am. Anyone want to meet up for that? Provided the weather is nice, I can definitely do it.

I know they have a bus thats pretty local... what do you do about carseats on a bus? or do you not use them? hm.. i'll have to think about that one.)
Nic was really good on the ride home... he was asleep before we left hoboken. We hit a spot of traffic about 20 minutes from home and he woke up screaming, so I had to stop and feed him for a few, but then he made it home ok. :) Apparently, the fresh air/baby companionship does him good :)

happy1: Asher also passed out on the way home and slept for an hour. :) Yes, you can take babies on buses. It would be great to see you and Nic again...

Sorry I missed you guys last week.....
Wanted to see if anybody was up for a GTG in NYC? We could pick a park that would be central to everyone. The ones I know off the top of my head are of coarse Central Park, Battery Park and the Park in Union Square. I'm sure there are some smaller ones that I don't know of.
I would be more than happy to organize if we can get a few interested people.
Thoughts?

I'm up for it!!!
I was also thinking...are there trees in Bryant Park? Because all the trains from Queens, Brooklyn and all over kinda converge in that area or at least close by. Then of course, I can be flexible as long as we're in Manhattan. :)
As for Reel Moms tomorrow, I'm out since it's likely to storm. :( Why must it rain when I least want it to?
Kasia216
09-19-2005, 03:50 PM
Hey Kim,
Bryant Park is a great suggestion! How Funny, I'm stumped on whether there are any tree's :p I'm sure there must be some "shady" spots. I'd be more than happy to take a walk up this week to check it out!
How does the week of October 3rd work? Anybody have a day of the week that is best?
Can't do Reel Moms tomorrow either as DS has his 2 month Dr's Appt @ 11A and he'll be getting a shot :( I hope to go next week providing the movie is good. I'm kinda hoping they show Proof

I'd love to get together in Bryant Park. Week of Oct. 3rd is Rosh Hashanah (eve of 3rd plus 4th and 5th) and I'll be out of town, but I could do it on Thurs or Fri (6th or 7th.)

Ok, week of Oct 3rd:
Monday is out for me, music class.
Tuesday is out for me, 4 month ped appointment.
Thursday is out for me, baby yoga.
I can do Friday if need be, will skip playgroup.
And Bryant Park does have trees!
As for Reel Moms at 34th Street Loews...
Feature Film: Flightplan
Date: Tuesday September 27, 2005
Time: Doors open early for socializing and getting comfortable, and the movie starts at 11 am
Anyone interested?

hola ladies
we survived our first international trip with Orla - she did great and think she misses all the attention!
I would love to try and make it to the NYC gathering - the w/o 10/3 Friday works well for me
I was planning on going to the movies today but wasn't too keen on the movie - hopefully next weeks will be better! I prefer non scary / creepy movies!
hope everyone is doing well

Missed the movie yesterday at Loews as I decided to visit a friend out in Long Island. It was too nice a day out to sit in the movie theater :)
So it looks like Friday October 7th might be a good day for a GTG in Bryant Park! I can head up there this week to check out the park so we can pick a meeting place.

Sorry I'm late with this note. It was great meeting everyone the other week. Connor woke up about 10min from home and of course we hit traffic too. He was not happy. Got home and some dinner and then back to sleep. Those 2mo shots and the fresh air tired him out.
Our local Loews cancelled Reel Moms. I am very disappointed.
Bryant Park sounds like fun but I'm not quite brave enough to travel to the city with him yet so we'll opt out. Have fun! Hope to see you all again soon.

I have no plans so I would love to meet you at the Theater. I was waiting to see what the movie was going to be playing on Tuesday. Is "In Her Shoes" the one starring Cameron Diaz? If so, it looks cute and I don't mind seeing it.
Let me know on Monday if you can make it and we can pick a spot to meet!
About another GTG - Today was Soggy so it would not have worked out. Let's try to pick another day!

Yep, it's the one based on the Jennifer Weiner book starring Cameron Diaz. Heck, if it sucks we can just go next door for some Mexian. ;)
At this point, as long as it's not stormy I am willing to weather a little misty rain to finally get together. So I'll let you know on Monday for sure. :) Yay!
As for a non-RM get together, I am of course up for that now as well. My bad days are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

I'm hoping the rain holds off tomorrow as I would like to walk up to the theater with the stroller. If not, then I'll jump in a cab with the Bjorn but either way I'll be there. He's been cranky all day today so I hope he's not a Cranky-Puss tomorrow :p
Let me know if you still plan to come. Hope to meet you tomorrow!

Hey KASIA!! NYC Tuesday Forecast: Cloudy, damp, breezy, high of 62
So, looks like no rain other than a little drizzle maybe, so we'll be there! My friend told me they are giving a little presentation before the movie begins about how to lose the post-baby belly, so I may try to be there by 10:30 the latest. I'll email you my cell# now just in case.
I'm taking the stroller & Bjorn in - I was going to just do the Bjorn but Thomas was sooooo cranky today I don't want to risk him refusing to nap in it. I'll ferry & ferry bus in, so it's pretty quick. YAY! I'll see you tomorrow!
Dreshny
10-10-2005, 06:31 PM

He's getting shots tomorrow, so I don't know how he'll be, but are you guys doing anything AFTER the movie?

As long as Mr. Crankypants calms himself down for tomorrow, I am good for something not too far from 34th/42nd after the movie (they are the easiet streets to catch the ferry bus back home on).

I'm going to take Jackson in the stroller and walk from my apt. I should have no problems getting to the theater by 10:30 if I leave at 10A. I kinda know what you look like from pictures so I think you'll be easy to find provided it's not a mob scene ;)
Did not get your email? Can you send me a private message through CC with your cell? I'll email you my cell number through CC as well.

"In Her Shoes" was cute! I had a great time meeting you kasia, and seeing you again, Roseanne.
BTW: for the future if anyone else plans to go to Reel Moms it's on 34th & 8th and you have to check your stroller. I hauled mine into the city on the bus since Thomas sleeps well in it, and it was a waste since I couldn't bring it into the theater. :(
The Reel Moms experience was nice, well lit, not too loud and they had mats on the floor outside the theater so you can put baby down to get your Bjorn back on, change him, pack up, etc. Definitely doing this again!

Anyone thinking about going? A question - since you check strollers or "bjorn" the little one - they just sit on your lap?
Classes - What are you taking and where? Anyone take any classes on the upper east side?
Also - has anyone done the New Mommy Lunches at Kidsville (used to be at High Life).. it's very upper east side apparently. It's on Tuesdays as well...you have lunch, socialize with other mommies, and there's a guest speaker.. for $30 a pop.
Also considering the new parents get-together at the 92nd Street Y -

I would go but I am back at work next week :(
yes - the babies sit on mom's laps.. usually moms take up 2 seats - 1 for the bjorn/diaper bag, etc and one for you and the baby..sometimes the theater has reserved seating area that have a table and that is handy.. today's didn't have that
There is also a giant pad outside the theater where babies can play or get changed
Also a mom said last weeks movie was supposed to be Dreamer but they ended up showing Good Night and Good Luck.. I was going to go just to go even though I had no interest in the original movie but the pouring rain kept me home so keep in mind that they might not always show the movie advertised
Diane
I think the movie theater on 86th st between 2nd/3rd shows mom movies.. my DH saw it advertised but I never checked it out (I am in Brooklyn and it would be a schlep)

it was the movie theater on 86th.. the one that is all funky inside.. he was walking by and saw a poster or something.. we used to live on the UES and don't remember the name of that theater but its definitely not the loews theater :)
have fun on Tue! I was nervous too the first time.. I couldn't imagine how everyone would change their baby in the bathroom :D and if you watch any ABC soaps you could win prizes

I think calling in sick day #2 of work after 4.5 months of leave would be pushing it ;)

I get there around 10:15 since my two options are...
1) Take the 9:45 ferry and get there 10:15
2) Take the 10:00 ferry and get there at 10:55
I usually try to sit in the center of the 1st row behind the railing (you know, you walk up the steps rather than down the ramp?). More leg room and easier for my friends to find me.
I Bjorn Thomas for the commute, but bring the stroller so he can sleep while we eat lunch and then I walk back to the ferry for exercise.
Maybe we should do some signal to ensure you find me??
I know! I'll be dressed all in white with a 1st edition of Pride and Prejudice in my right hand bookmarked with a single red rose.

What kind of time off do you all have between Xmas and New Years? Would it be crazy of me to suggest a weekday GTG in the city at that time to include you all?

Barging in--
Hi ladies-I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this but I'll give it a shot.
In January/Feb we will be moving to the Parsippany area first renting while we find a place we'd like to buy.
Not sure if any of you ladies are familar with the area but I was hoping I could get a recomendation for an OB and a ped.
TIA.:D

Would love to meet up with any other NYC mommy for a GTG. I think weekends will work best for me for the most part;)
Where would we all meet without it being waaayyy too croweded due to the holidays and the cold weather?

Parsippany is in Morris County...you may want to check out the NJ board here for more ladies in that area. They's all so helpful to those moving in! I was there recently with a friend and can recommend a nice optician ;) but otherwise I'm not familiar with that area. Welcome to NJ!

Lol - GREAT question! So many of the easy-access places in the city I completely avoid from Thanksgiving til New Year's because the manic shoppers and tourists drive me nutso. :) I am literally booked every weekend until the new year, but once that rolls around I am up for a weekend GTG!

I hear it's Walk The Line today - I wish I am an iota of energy in me to go. :( Got back late last night from our Thanksgiving travels, so I am pajama-bound and in recovery today.
