I seem to be a week off, but even with eating like crap this weekend, I managed to go down 1.3. I'll take it. :) It's up from where I was before the weekend, but I'm in a good spot. I'd love to lose 10 pounds by the beginning of October for my conference, but not sure if I can get there safely. I'll do my darndest though!! :)

So I got a gym membership on Aug 18th and I've gone religiously 6 days a week and work out for over an hour each time. I use the arc trainer for my cardio (35 min on level 8) and burn close to 500 calories. I'm sweating and my legs are like jello when I'm done. Lol. I also do alot of ab exercises and weights. However, I haven't lost a single freaking pound! My DH says I look smaller but I haven't seen the scale move at all. My weight fluctuates from day to day between 125 to 127 pounds. I desperately want to lose the rest of this baby weight before it starts to get cold bc otherwise I'll have to buy all new jeans! I do feel good about myself though for committing to work out and I actually love exercising (never thought I'd say that) and look forward to going to the gym but I was really hoping to lose something by now. I am BFing (but that never caused me to hold onto weight before) and I haven't really changed my diet (for fear of losing my supply) but I'm tempted to see a nutritionalist. I eat too many sweets :(. And finding time to eat in the morning is hard bc I'm just not hungry but by the time lunch rolls around I'm ravenous and over-eat/binge-eat. So there's my faults!
Anyway, I was wondering if any of you know a better way to eat while nursing but also cutting back on calories? Maybe suggest foods that are healthy yet keep me full? I don't really know what to do. People always say to "just eat healthy" but what does that mean?! Surely I won't lose my supply for cutting out cookies but maybe suggestions on replacement foods?
Sorry for the novel! Any advice would be great :)

The only thing I can tell you is that I too would be starving by lunch, only to eat everything that I could find in the fridge, pantry, etc. This happened because I was out of my normal going to the office routine, which included a big bottle of water on the commute, coffee as soon as I got to the office, a yogurt after that, and then something else about an hour later. Once I was home full time, I would start doing a million things and then all of a sudden it was lunch time and I was so hungry. I had to make a point to eat breakfast, hungry or not. Some mornings it is more elaborate, like an egg white omelet with spinach, other days it is a Kind bar. But everyday, I eat something between 9 and 10. I suffer if I don't.
You also aren't limited to breakfast foods if you don't like them. You can have a sandwich on whole wheat bread...I personally love an open faced grilled cheese: on a baking sheet place a slice of whole wheat bread. Slice a tomato, then grate some cheddar cheese on top. Broil in the oven until the cheese is melted.
Also, if you like the convenience of a cookie (eat with one hand, on the run, etc), why not bake some oatmeal lactation cookies?

SKIP me for week 1 please. I completely forgot to weigh-in, and honestly with school starting here, I don't want to step on the scale for a late weigh-in because I know it's not going to be pretty. :(
Also, if you like the convenience of a cookie (eat with one hand, on the run, etc), why not bake some oatmeal lactation cookies? This was going to be my suggestion, bensgirl.

I confess that I'm completely embarrassed by this weigh-in. I knew last week it would be bad, so I was avoiding the scale. This week I wanted to full on skip my weigh-in. I knew I needed to buck up and give myself a reality check. We started school here on 9/6, and I haven't worked out a second since. It seem as though I either get a few free minutes to myself or I get the kids' school done but rarely both. DH and I also decided to cancel our gym membership in favor of working out at home due to the cost of membership fees, gas, and time. (It took at least 2.5 hours out of my day to accomplish a 1 hour workout once you figured in driving time and drop-off at the onsite childcare.) I'm also not sleeping well again along with having random aches and pains that leave me not wanting to workout, but I know both of these are caused by me not working out.
Anyway, I'm rambling, but all this to say that I'm very frustrated with myself. :(

Dana- what program?
it's through a local gym. it's small groups that work with a trainer / nutrition person for 8 weeks - it's 3 intense workouts per week + 3 workouts on your own. plus, you keep track of all calories eaten and all calories burned via the exerspy and the trainers track everything and coach / help / push you along. what i've learned so far, that i didn't already know, is that exercise, while important for muscle tone, energy and just feeling better, doesn't burn that many calories. they said that weight loss is 85 % diet. using the exerspy has shown me that i burn almost as many calories getting the kids ready for school as i do working out. my super intense (omg, this is so freakin' hard) type workouts are not even burning 300 calories, that's only 2 cookies! getting the kids ready for school is about 150, my home workouts are about 200 and just running 3 short blocks was like 175.

No carbs after lunch and that's really helping (only doing it last week and this week). I had been .4 pounds away from my goal, but of course we had a weekend with more carbs.... and I put back on two pounds. But that's okay. I'll get there :)
I think this is the week before AF... and I usually never lose weight. So if I can get the 2.4 off I wanted, that would be fan-freaking-tastic. :D

Thank you everyone. :D We've really turned a corner and feel this is our new way of doing things. And considering we've stuck with it for 9+ months, I think we've got a keeper :)
Jesseybell - I'd like to get down to about 175-180. It's at the high end of the healthy spectrum for a woman my height (5' 10") and with my athletic build, my trainer thinks that is healthy and realistic. I once got down to 150 pounds (still a size 10) in high school. I showed him a picture and he immediately said no - I looked "sick" and now with two kids, it wouldn't be realistic for me. So, I'd like to get down another 50 or so pounds. It will take me into next year, but that's okay. It took me quite a few years to get here, I can take a year+ to get it off :)

does anyone here have experience with losing weight when you're hypothyroid? i was just diagnosed on monday and while i'm happy that i have a reason for the way i've been feeling, i'm really, really scared that it's going to screw up my program. i haven't lost anything since last friday, i actually gained a pound, but i've been doing everything the same (af is coming too though).

Dana, I have been hypothyroid since I was 12. Once my meds were correct the weight gain stopped. However, the weight also didn't just melt away like I hoped it would. It did take some time to get the meds correct and I have had 2 or 3 adjustments since, the biggest of which was after I had my daughter. I feel that my metabolism is still slower than others and I have to work harder to lose the weight. But, slow and steady wins the race in the end! About 9 years ago, I lost about 50 pounds on WW and kept it off until I got married and had a baby. A baby, who at the age of 4 STILL does not consistently sleep through the night. I stopped working the program as I tried to figure out my new role of wife, mother and working full time. Thus, the weight came back on. Now I'm using My Fitness Pal and have lost 16.5 pounds since July 1. Maybe not as easily as some or as quickly as some, but I'm sticking with it and it IS working. Best of luck to you! Let me know if you have any hypothyroid questions. My mom, both my grandmothers and an aunt have all had hypothryoidism, so there isn't a lot we haven't seen!

OMG - this is so embarassing! But, to my defense, traveling is not fun for healthy eating! Especially when you're working. The food is definitely not healthy, you shovel in what you can, when you can, never have enough water.... Needless to say I'm back on the wagon this week!!!

I just haven't been with it lately. GFIL was quite ill, so he, GMIL, and MIL were out of town at a specialty hospital for 3 weeks. Then my family has been passing around a head cold for the last week. I continued to get my water intake where it needs to be, and it has helped because although I haven't been officially weighing in, I know I've hit as high as 179.5 pounds. To see 178.2 is actually a good thing at this point, and it motivates me to continue drinking my water!

Wow - totally didn't think I'd have a loss this week! And I spent the better part of yesterday snacking. Healthy stuff, but snacking none the less.
And today hasn't gotten off on a good start. DH picked up some overtime at work and worked much longer than anticipated. YDD and I were walking around the mall. I got a frappacino (full fat) and then we stopped for lunch at McDonald's (and got another salad). Ugh - need to be working out tonight I guess! :)

Ugh! I haven't been around in a few weeks. In the last few weeks, we sold our house, bought a new construction house, moved in with my mother-in-law and I haven't been keeping up with the gym (or my weight loss). But I'm still holding steady since last time I checked in. I'm finally getting back into a routine with the gym and went the past 2 days so hopefully I can shed these last 10-11 pounds before we go to Florida in December.
