Alright ladies...we are in the homestretch.
So here's a thread to kick off the 3rd tri (and the arrival of babies very soon)!

04-07-2011, 09:30 PM
Thanks for the new thread Poca!

04-08-2011, 04:11 AM
29 wks today. 9w6d left til my c/s. still a long time left but I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

04-08-2011, 04:48 AM
Thanks for the new thread!

04-08-2011, 10:31 AM
Yah for a new thread!

I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, too, since my induction will be no later than June 15. Thank goodness! :)

04-08-2011, 11:35 AM
I'm 32 weeks today and can't believe how fast this pregnancy is flying! I'm feverishly finishing painting the baby's room today so I can feel ready!

04-08-2011, 04:42 PM
Checking in ... I've been lurking but haven't had much to post. Just hit the 30 week mark today, and can't believe I only have 10 or so weeks left. It seems like I still have so much to do - things are definitely so much different for the second child. I was so much farther along in the planning, etc. with my first one. Oh well!

Had a 3D ultrasound last week and got a few really good shots. How do I post a pic here? I've never done it before and am not having much luck.

Can't wait to meet our little peanut!

04-08-2011, 04:59 PM
Thanks for the new thread :) We are all getting so much closer!! I am 31 weeks today - just a little over 8 weeks before our scheduled c-section. Yesterday & today I have been having non-stop BH's. I was a little concerned last night because they got to be a bit painful but nothing consistent. They are starting to get a little more painful again this evening. I think I lost some of my mucus plug too which happened pretty early last time too.

My niece had her baby on Wednesday - a little boy who is just precious. Her water broke and she had him less than 3 hours later! By the time she got to the hospital, she was already at a 5 and at a 10 less than an hour later. She pushed for 10 minutes and he was here. No pain meds either! It is funny to have nieces and nephews old enough to be married and having their own kids. This little one makes me a great aunt for the 5th time :)

We finally had a beautiful spring day here so DD and I spent about two hours outside poking around in our yard. We managed to get a few flower beds and raised beds cleaned up but it was pretty slow going. Regardless of being productive, it was fabulous to feel the sun and get our hands in some dirt!

Sneak Peek from my maternity/family photo session on Thursday :)

04-09-2011, 08:26 PM
Just wanted to let you all know that Pocahontas had her babygirl this morning!! YEAH!! I'll let her fill you in on all the details but I believe they are both doing fine.

04-09-2011, 09:05 PM
Congratulations Pocahontas! Thanks craftgenius! She was right that baby girl wouldn't make it to Monday! Can't wait to hear the details. I also can't believe there's already a baby born in this thread!

04-09-2011, 09:50 PM
EEK!!! Congrats, Pocahontas!! SO excited for you -- can't wait to hear more!

04-10-2011, 03:34 AM
Awesome !!! Congrats!!!

04-10-2011, 05:28 AM
Wow - congrats Poca!! Can't wait to hear the details.

Bensgirl- Great picture! I'm officially swelling, now that the weather has turned warm. I treated myself to a massage on Friday to try to help, but it all came right back after the hour of bliss. No pictures for me this time- I feel like a marshmellow!

04-10-2011, 05:59 AM
Congrats, Poca!!!!

04-10-2011, 06:51 AM
Wow - congrats to Poca!

BensGirl - Great picture :)

04-10-2011, 11:14 AM
Congratulations Poca!

This is the first time I've been able to get online this week, but I had my babies on April 3rd. Mason was born at 1:22 weighing 5lbs 12oz and 18 inches & Mallory was born at 1:44 weighing 4lbs 13oz and 17 inches - both great sizes for being 6 weeks early! Mallory had some minor blood sugar issues right after birth so she was in the NICU for a couple hours, but then she was able to be with me. Mason was having a lot of problems breathing on his own and then he needed help learning to eat, so he was in the NICU for 6 days. Mallory came home with me on Tuesday and we were finally able to bring Mason home yesterday afternoon. I feel so blessed having them both at home now!

Here is a picture of us getting ready to leave the hospital:

So happy together:

04-10-2011, 11:39 AM
Wow, more babies!!! Congratulations Delaney and welcome Mason and Mallory!

04-10-2011, 11:47 AM
Congrats Delaney! They are absolutely beautiful!!

04-10-2011, 03:22 PM
So adorable, Delaney! Congrats on their arrival!

04-10-2011, 05:05 PM
Congrats Poca and Delaney!

Any of the other June mommies feeling a little envious? After all of these babies arriving, my due date seems like it's still light years away!

04-10-2011, 05:28 PM
linekelei: Not really for me, but I'm due at the beginning of the month, so that may be why. It has kicked me into gear and made me realize I need to get my stuff together! Though I did basically finish the baby's room in the last 3 days so the rest of what I have to do is minor.

04-10-2011, 06:49 PM
Congratulations poca and Delaney!

gorgeous photo bensgirl

linkelei - yes! still such a long time left for us to go

04-10-2011, 07:59 PM
Congratulations Pocahontas! Thanks craftgenius! She was right that baby girl wouldn't make it to Monday!

DITTO...thanks CRAFT! And I had to laugh when I read this because my "PREGGO BRAIN" had me telling everyone my c/s date was tomorrow when it was really Tuesday! (AMNIO was scheduled for tomorrow which my OB always does to ensure lung maturity when taking a baby before 37 weeks.) But it matters not because...

LARISSA was born at 8:05 am Saturday, April 9 weighing in a 6lbs 3oz (almost a full pound heavier than her big brother was at birth!) and measuring 19.5 inches (an inch bigger than him too). I have pics on my camera and my cell but my cell sucks (well, I suck and am not internet savvy with this Sprint piece of crap I have. LOL) So I will get pics up tomorrow when my DH goes home (he's stayed at the hospital every night) and gets the camera cord to upload. I will also be sure to share my birth story which as you can tell from the time of her arrival realized my worst fear (that a few of us talked about in the last thread)...middle of the night contrax. Oy. Anyway...no NICU time for her despite arriving at 35w 6d. Other than a low glucose reading at birth which is easily fixed...she has been given a clean bill of health! Be back with details tomorrow...gotta get some sleep while she is being checked out in the nursery by the pedi.

04-10-2011, 08:07 PM
Love her name Poca! Can't wait to hear the birth story. And you know, if she was 6#3oz at almost 36 weeks, she'd have been pretty big had she gone all the way to 40w (though I know that wasn't going to happen!). That's awesome that she had no NICU time and is doing well. Can't wait to see pics!!!

04-10-2011, 10:19 PM
Congrats Pocahontas and Delaney!!! Can't wait to see pics of Larissa and your twins are precious Delaney. So I'm wondering...how has is been so far taking care of TWINS??? PPHEWW...I don't know if I could do it!! LOL

Today I had my baby shower and it was really nice. I received lots of great stuff, and now I can go out shopping to get the rest of the stuff I want/need to get. At the shower I received the following:

the swing
diaper champ
boppie cover (to use on my existing boppie)
crib mattress pad (my old one was in bad shape)
a few diapers
a few wipes
lots of Onesies (still need some 0/3 size)
TONS of blankets
Battery operated nasal aspirator
medicine dispenser set
comb and brush set
Several sets of Johnson & Johnson baby lotion/baby wash, shampoo
crib mobile (which matches the bedding I am getting)
a few all in one sleepers
several outfits
a few pairs of little pants to wear over onesies
teething rings
2 stuffed bears
a baby bath robe
a gown and robe for ME to wear in the hospital

Several people also bought a little something for my little girl to open at the shower too. One thing was a cute little shirt that says "I'm the big sister". She was very well behaved and didnt act jealous of all of baby brother's stuff. I really had a great time and it's always so nice seeing your closest friends and family going out of their way to shower you with their love! :)

04-11-2011, 06:37 AM
Congrats Pocahontas and Delaney!!!

They are so precious and I think it really finally kicked in that this baby will come coon (ish - DD is June8!) Maybe enough of a kick to get me through the last ~8 weeks.

Pocahontas - that is a great size for 35 weeks! DD was pretty close to that at 38!
Delaney - that's a lot of baby too! Glad everyone is doing well and you are home already!

AFM - Still miserable and down that I am only 32 weeks! I had so much lower back/hip pain on the weekend :( And if I hadn't had FOUR ultrasounds all putting my due date the same I would start to wonder. I have been getting lots of contractions. At what point would you not consider them BH? I definitely had a few that the pain started on the side and rounded around the front. A lot of them are just uncomfy - but this kid likes to stretch during them making them worse :(

Midwives appointment tomorrow!

04-11-2011, 09:16 AM
craftgenius: Sounds like it was a great shower! You got a lot of stuff! I think it's really cute that so many people got your DD something so she wouldn't feel left out. :)

lil_geek: My doctor said one of the concerns is when the contractions radiate from the back to the front. Those sound more like real contractions to me. I would definitely ask your MW about it tomorrow because it's so early!

04-11-2011, 10:09 AM
Pookie - - that was what I was thinking/remembering. I would say I had 2-3 of those over the weekend (and not back to back) just to punctuate all of the craptastic, more BH like ones.

Poca - Love the name! So glad you and the baby are doing well. Looking forward to hearing your birth story :)

Lilgeek - You and I are in the same place as I could have typed the exact same thing - even the contractions and the ultrasound comment. I feel like I am much farther along then 32 weeks...ugh.

AFM - Can I just say I am miserable?? My poor DH has had to listen to me whine and moan/groan all day & night all weekend long. Between my hips, my SI joint, the side aches and feeling exhausted if I stand too long, I am so ready to be done!! I know baby needs more growing time but....at least everyday after having the c-section I will start feeling better. Right now, I just have more pain too look forward to until we get to that point. We are a very active family and this just sucks...

OK - Off my pitty potty. Despite all that, DD and I sewed up a new boppy pillow cover, one crib sheet and some pee-pee tee-pees. You should have seen the horrified look on her face when I told her what those were for. Girls are so funny! My project list is coming together slowly but surely.

Appt with the midwife today went great! I found out that apparently my OB has decided to take Mondays off for a while (which right now is the best day for my appts), so I have unofficially switched to the midwife's care. I am okay with that, though. My OB is good, and I was pretty comfortable with him; however, this midwife is AMAZING!!!

I was able to discuss with her my preferences for birth, and she said it shouldn't be a problem to work towards that (as close to a homebirth feeling as possible). I expressed my concerns about being put on a clock, not being able to move around during labor, and avoiding another episiotomy. She was very willing to listen and addressed each of my concerns as to how she, the other midwives at the hospital, and the OBs would likely handle each situation. She also said they have a birthing ball and labor tub for use if I wished! Yay!

All in all, it was a great appt! My next one is scheduled for April 25, and then I am on to weekly appts!

jo: I'm sorry you're feeling so crappy! Sounds like you've been busy!

tgr: Yay for a good appointment. It's always great when your provider is on the same page as you.

AFM: I had an OB appointment this morning. All is well. I think I've slacked off on my growth so she gave me orders for an ultrasound in 3 weeks. I don't feel like I've grown much in the past 2 weeks either. I'm thinking I just got bigger early and now the growth is slacking some. Last time I always measured small, but she did say she thinks that's just how I carry my babies. I think she also wants them to take another look at the baby's heart. She seems to be more concerned about that than I am. I'll be 35 weeks and some change, so we'll see what their weight estimate says. I know with DD at 37 weeks they said 7 lbs and it was right on the money with her birth weight.

04-11-2011, 06:17 PM
I can't believe we have babies already!! Congrats Delaney and Poca!

jo&sean I am right there with you as far as being uncomfortable! Aches and pains are so not fun.

Pookie Good luck at your next u/s!

Tgr Glad you like the midwife. I love mine.

AFM I will be 35 wks tomorrow. Baby is still breech, despite twice weekly chiro apts and trying to follow all of her advice. Every once in a while, I think he has flipped and I will take a sneak peeks using our ultrasound machine at work to double check his position and darn it, he is still breech.

DH and I took our last mini trip this weekend up to the Mall of America. I did some quick damage to our bank account at Hanna Anderson for both girls and little man. Why is everything there so darn cute? We stayed at the Sofitel Hotel and I am pretty sure I need to have their mattresses and pillows. I slept soundly for the first time in months! I was so disappointed we only could stay one night. We hit up IKEA on Sunday. As much as I tried, after walking for 8 hours at the mall the day before, I was too crabby and sore to enjoy IKEA. :( DH tried to be patient with me but he was so excited for IKEA and all I kept doing was whining. We did manage to get some fun things for the house.

My nesting is in full swing but it is not directed at baby things. I am more concerned about the condition of the house and yard. Apparently, I think this baby cares if our eaves are freshly painted & our landscaping is weeded. :P Hopefully, I will soon turn my attention to his room!

As is evident by the DISASTER in my house because I had to do a mini bathroom reno and office organization at the same time! What was I thinking.... I can't even keep up with putting the laundry away!!

(you can post either one to the front page)

I go back Apr 21 for a non-stress test with the MFM. they'll start seeing me more often for u/s's and nst's now.

today's u/s went well. he's getting so big. estimated to be 3lb 5oz now. I'm exhausted and sleeping horribly. Next week is Spring break so I'm hauling the kids down to NC to visit my sister from Sat to Wed.

32 week midwife appointment - went really well. She was concerned about my contraction descriptions but not enough so to want to monitor them. My BP was low (102/66), baby's heart rate was low 140's, measuring dead on 32 weeks.

Interesting though is that the baby is head down, but down VERY low already. The midwife at first didn't find the head because she was looking to high (where it should be for 32 weeks). So maybe a) little baby with a little head just sitting lower or b) baby going to come earlier (like 36-37 weeks is good)

My M/W was very sympathetic to the back hip pain and joked that I must be wanting my BP to go up so I can get induced early ;) The thought HAS crossed my mind!

Next Appointments = Thurs. April 28, Tues. May 10! Then I go weekly!

04-12-2011, 02:47 PM
Lots of us had appointments today! I had an u/s to check baby's growth...he's already 8 lbs (I'm 35 weeks tomorrow) and my belly is measuring 4 weeks ahead!!! I'm looking at a 9+ lb baby for sure, possibly towards the 10 lb mark, per the doctor (my c-section is scheduled for 39 weeks).

I've been having a lot of pressure down low, and some BH-type contrax, so the doctor did an internal to check to see if there is any action going on. I'm still closed up tight and the baby is 'floating', meaning head down but not engaged in the birth canal, so he doubts baby will try to come before the c-section date.

I'm still trying to get my head around having such a large baby- I thought DS1 was big at 8.5 lbs, but he's a peanut compared to this one!

04-12-2011, 06:50 PM
Another one with an appointment today! I am 29w, 2d. I go back in two weeks, which is also when I start seeing my peri twice weekly for NSTs. Once I hit those, I think I will finally feel like the end is in sight. However, I have been having lots of contractions-sometimes up to 5 or 6 an hour. My ob wants me to head to labor and delivery if it happens again. Just when she was measuring my uterus I was contracting, and I wasn't even really feeling that one. In the past week, I've definitely been getting more and more (the ones I can feel, which are always somewhat painful), and it's been about 15-20 a day. I just want this baby to stay in until 36 weeks (end of May). I do NOT want another NICU stay! I'm praying that the progesterone shots do their job. Baby is kicking a ton lately, and moving around in many uncomfortable positions. :)

lil_geek-My DD was very low my entire pregnancy the first time around, and I had a ton of hip and lower back pain. Maybe it's the lower position that causes it?

Jane-Hope you have a good spring break and get some needed rest!

petdoc-I'm the same way, wanting everything in the house to look clean and fresh. I'm making DH fix the cracked stucco around the outside doors this weekend! And still hoping that baby turns head down for you!!

craft-Sounds like you had a nice shower. You should post a picture!

countrymouse-That is one big baby you are going to have. Holy cow!!!!

04-13-2011, 05:58 AM
Hey everyone...just popping my head in since we should be discharged from the hospital today so I'm going to take a quick nap while DD is in the nursery getting her discharge physical (and then she will have to pass the car seat test before they will release us. So definitely enough time for some sleep because I am working on maybe 4 hours! )Anyway...

We were told the day before yesterday that DD has been dx'ed with a heart murmur. Not sure if heart murmurs are genetic but if they are then she definitely got it from her grandma (my mother) who she is coincidentally named in honor of. My mother has a heart murmur which I believe she passed on to my brother (my sister and I don't have one) and I think it's in the same area of the heart (between the ventricals) as Larissa's. I am not sure how worried I am yet about this situation since I have been told by the pedi that in some babies where the heart wall didn't close in utero, it closes in infancy (sometime during their first year of life). And I know some people who have told me their child had one that resolved on its own. However, if DD is not one of those cases that resolves, we would later discuss surgery with a cardiologist. (We are actually seeing a cardiologist in the next couple weeks who will evaluate DD at the recommendation of the pedi). In the meantime, the pedi told us that she should not be affected by the murmur (I know my mother's never caused her any issues throughout her life) but gave us a few signs to look out for in case we think it is causing her trouble. So it has been an eventful start to DD's life and she's only 4 days old!

Alright...enough about that. Who's next? LOL :p Hope everyone's doing well. Back after my much needed nap with a birth story recap.

04-13-2011, 06:01 AM
I actually slept decently last night! wow, very disorienting to wake up this morning after a good night's sleep. I was a little groggy but I had to get moving fast b/c DS#2's speech therapist is scheduled to arrive shortly after #1 gets on the school bus (but the bus was a few minutes early and the kids didn't dump out an obscene amount of toys for me to clean up so I've ended up with a little lag time this morning after all).

countrymouse - wow, that's a lot of baby. of course, my SIL's first baby was estimated to be about 2lbs bigger than she turned out to be so those can be way off. I've never had a late u/s so I don't have any personal experience with it myself.

nesting/home repairs - I'm taking the kids to NC for a few days and leaving DH behind with a chore list. I don't expect everything to be done but I'll be stressed when I come back if nothing is done. It's all little stuff, nothing major. So hopefully he can make some progress on it. It's nothing critical but I know we'll have even less free time once baby #3 arrives.

04-13-2011, 07:01 AM
pocahontas - So sorry to hear about the heart mumur. I pray that it resolves on its own like the doc said it could.

AFM - I'm doing great. Feeling much better these days, but still have a few bouts of exhaustion. I saw the maternal fetal medicine doctor on Monday and he says everything looks good. Baby is weighing at 5 lbs 1 oz. However my fluid was a little low. From here on out I will be getting weekly ultrasounds. My c-section is scheduled for May 11...just 4 more weeks!! Hopefully the fluid will improve or at least stay the same and my BP won't get too high so I won't have to go in earlier (which is what happened last time around).

Nesting - I am in FULL nesting mode!!! My mother spent the night Sunday after the shower so we could do some organizing on Monday. We cleaned out the guest room closet, hall linen closet and the coat closet. We threw out like 10 bags of stuff!!! I'm am PURGING!!!! ...time to get rid of stuff that I haven't used in the past few years. My wedding dress was taking up mega room in the guest room closet...still in the dress bag. My mom took it home to the dry cleaners in my hometown to get it preserved and boxed up so I can put it away. We also put up all of the clothes and supplies I got from the shower. Now we have TONS of room to store extra diapers, etc.

Work shower - My coworkers surprised me with a baby shower yesterday. I was SO SHOCKED! They had me crying! I was definitely not expecting it! Got some cute clothes and they also collected $490!!!!!! ...which I was shocked about because people at my office usually don't collect that much money for showers, etc....$200-250 at the max most times. My mom told me "you are definitely loved".

I also finally got my maternity and easter pics back from my photographer friend. Attached are a few shots...

Craftgenius: Those are wonderful pictures! Your DD is adorable!

Definitely get it checked out by a cardiologist. They will probably do an EKG and an echo to get a better look at it. That's what happened with DD, only she was 15 months old when they found the murmur. Most murmurs end up being functioning murmurs, but I am so glad our ped didn't just shrug off the murmur and sent us for further testing. That's what sent us down this heart surgery road...she had a hole between the atria and because of the location of where hers was, they don't close on their own. There are definitely holes that do close on their own tough. I'm sure going to the cardiologist will give you lots of answers and hopefully reassurance!

Thanks for this! You know it's funny but I mentioned to DH that I was going to ask "a girl on CC" (i.e. you :p) about your DD's heart surgery for that very reason! We are going to DS's old pedi tomorrow (she's DD's pedi...for the moment. We plan to switch her over to DS's current pedi, but not until after she gives us her Cardiologist recs because she is affliated with the hospital where we delivered.) And speaking of delivery, now that I'm home and both kids are sleeping maybe I can buy a few minutes to recap the birthstory:

Friday night after DS finally decided to go to bed (and I devoured some yummy takeout DH brought home) I crawled into bed around midnight. I think I slept 45 minutes max before I felt "a sensation"...I call it "a sensation" simply because I wasn't really sure it was a contraction. It was too "tame"...calmer than my contractions with DS for sure! So I picked up my cell phone to check the time and decided I'd lay there and see if it happened again. It was 5-6 minutes later when I felt the same sensation but I wasn't ready to call it a contraction yet. Laid in bed awhile longer...probably 5-6 minutes and there it was a third time. That's when I got up and waltzed in the living room and asked DH a mundane question about locating some flip flops I had mentioned to him I couldn't find before (he had no idea I was asking because I planned to wear them to L&D in a very few minutes! LOL) Anyway, I go back to the bedroom pull out my hospital bag which was only half packed and pull out DS's overnight bag to start throwing things in it. DH comes in to help me find the flip flops (still oblivious to why I am up and it's past 1 in the morning) and I plan the way I'm going to tell him I'm in labor so as not to alarm him. I say, "DH, what are the last 4 digits of your cell phone number?" He says, "4911...why?" I ask, "What is today's date?" He thinks about it and answers, "4-9-11" and looks at me with a blank stare (like where is she going with this? :o) So I smile and say..."well, since your DD will probably be born today it's a good thing you can never forget the date!" And he's like, "Why? Are you trying to say you're in labor?"

Fast forward 2 hours later we pack the car with a sleepy DS, his bag, and our bags and drive to MIL's house. When I was in labor with DS it only took an hour to get from showering to walking to the car because my bag was already packed and we didn't have a child to get ready. I couldn't believe it took us 2 hours to do everything from shower to wake up and dress DS. So we drop him off and DH has to transfer his car seat to MIL's car (really? It's 3:30 in the morning!) And then we're off to the hospital. We arrive and it's the same scene as it was when we were in labor with DS. Pee in a cup to test for protein? Check. Monitors on the belly to pick up ctx? Check. They start an IV as is always Step 1 because they think hydrating me will slow the ctx to a hault. NOT. They keep a'comin' like they did with DS and by 6ish in the morning they are leaning towards today being "the day" and thinking they probably won't be able to send me home after all. Took them less hours to make that decision this time then with DS probably because it was my OB's partner on call this time. She came on duty at 7am, assessed the situation and said, "Let's do it!" And by 8:05 we had a baby! There ya have it in a nutshell. :)

04-14-2011, 06:15 AM
gorgeous family craftgenius!

poca - I'm glad you were able to find someone to watch your DS rather than take him to the hospital with you. I'm sorry to hear about the heart murmur. Fingers crossed that it turns out to be nothing that would require surgery.

another night of good sleep for me. Good thing b/c I need some energy so I can start packing for my trip to NC.

Baby Boy flipped! Woooo!! I am so excited and relieved. I feel like such a weight was lifted off my shoulders. I can now focus on other things besides just getting baby to turn. I started to paint the nursery- wow, it takes forever when I need to take a break every 10 minutes. This weekend, our new fence should go in (weather permitting) and our playset foes up. The girls will be set for summer and I can concentrate on our new little man.

My cousin had her baby last night (a girl- Harper Grey). She was due exactly one month before me. That really puts things into perspective. I keep thinking I have all the time in the world- um, not so much!!!

04-16-2011, 05:06 AM
yay petdoc! what a relief to have the baby turned.

I hit 30 wks yesterday. Now I'm starting to get anxious about getting things done.

04-16-2011, 05:36 AM
Delaney. Congrats on your little bundles of joy!!! Hope to see you around more. They are adorable :)
Craft. Love the family pictures! Your daughter is beautiful and you are glowing. Makes me anxious to get my pictures back.
Poca. Sorry to hear your DD has a heart murmur. Hopefully it closes on it's own so she wont need surgery but it seems like you have a good plan in place. Good luck!
Jane. Glad to hear you're sleeping well! 9 weeks until your c-section, right?? The single digits have seemed to fly by for me. I can't believe I only have 4 weeks left!!
petdoc. So glad baby boy flipped!!! What a relief, I'm sure. Now you can focus on other things. Love the name Harper! I tend to lean towards more traditional names but if I had a change of heart, Harper would be top on my list.

AFM. I haven't been around much. Well, I read daily but haven't been posting bc posting long SO's and updates from my iPhone is annoying and my laptop is always dead. Lol. However, DH surprised me with the new iPad 2 yesterday for my birthday!! It's a WiFi 64GB in white. I am in love with it! I'm a huge internet/computer/photo junkie so having this is a dream come true. Haha. Just in time for Grace to get here too. So easy to use. I will be taking this to the hospital so I can upload pictures directly to my iPad to send out immediately after her birth. DH said it's my combo present (Birthday/Push present/Mother's Day). Lol. Anyway, I turned 28 yesterday. It was a nice birthday. DH stayed home yesterday which was nice. The maid service came yesterday then I got myself together and went shopping by myself! Haha. Loved it. I bought a peg shelf for Grace's room and a cute blanket from PB that i had to have. Came home to a birthday party :). My MIL, DH, the boys, my SIL, BIL and their 2 boys. We had steaks on the grill, homemade mashed potatoes, corn on the cob and cake. I got some nice gifts ($$) which will come in handy. I'm going to get a pre-baby mani/pedi coming up here soon and get my hair trimmed.

It's all becoming very real! I only have 4 weeks left. I know they are going to fly-by though. I have my baby shower today, next weekend we are hosting Easter (this is our holiday to host), the following weekend is my BFF's son's 2nd birthday and wine festival, the weekend of the 7th I'm getting my hair trimmed and it's Mothers Day then it's my due date! We can almost see the forecast for my due date. Eeek!

The boys room is completely done and decorated. It's the most amazing room in the house. Lol. We all spend alot of time up there. Though hiking up 3 levels several times a day isn't fun but it makes me feel alive I suppose. Lol. This week I want to finish up Grace's room. It's pretty much put together but I want to get my decorative things for it. I need to order her wall decal but that's been challenging as Ben and I are still deciding on a middle name. I really want Grace Caroline. Like I really REALLY want it. DH loves Caroline too but Elizabeth has a family tie to it (his mom) but he says I have complete veto power if I feel that strongly for Caroline. However, then I feel guilty about it! I LOVE his mother. She probably knows me better than my own mother and we spend alot of time together. So it would be a wonderful honor to name her Grace Elizabeth. But I can't help that I just love Grace Caroline. DH's reasons are his mother and "just in case" we ever end up with #4 and it's a girl he wants to name her Caroline. My reasons are Grace Elizabeth as a whole is very popular, her initials would be GET and I don't see us having a 4th and even if we do who is to say it will be another girl??? That's a lot of "ifs". So we are still undecided but I'm ready to put it to rest and just make a decision.

Our bedroom furniture is being delivered on Thursday!! I'm so excited as that will pretty much complete our house renovations before baby girl gets here. I have my 36 week appt on Monday (GBS testing, cervical check and u/s to make sure baby girl is head-down) and then I have a dentist appt. Not sure why they feel the need to check to make sure she is head down as we all know she is but I guess it "protocol". I'm really feel pretty big at this point. My belly is 42" around already which is what it was with both boys at full-term! So maybe she will be bigger than her brothers? Who knows. I'm going to start packing my bag this week and maybe even install the infant base (though i may wait another 2 weeks). My MIl is watching the boys for me one or two days this week so I can wash baby clothes, get a new mattress, and return anything I need to. So this week is going to be a big week in preparation for Grace.

Well, this got much longer than I anticipated. Lol. I'm going to eat breakfast and start getting ready for my baby shower. It doesn't start until 2 but I wanted to get there early to greet everyone. And DH and the boys are going too so we all have to get ourselves together.

bensgirl = How was the shower?

04-17-2011, 06:03 AM
It was awesome, Craft! We "only" invited close friends and family (I was on the fence about having a 2nd shower to begin with but they insisted) and we had close to 40 people there! Some were kids but still that was a huge turn-out. I have alot of family though and about 8 BFF's. I was very happy to be able to see everyone. I got so much cute stuff and I never got any doubles which was great too. My grandmother got her the cutest gown from Nordstroms that has lace and little pink roses on it that I absolutely fell in love with an plan to use it as her "coming home" outfit. Lots of really nice blankets, swaddleme's, diapers, room decor, etc... It was a great time and her closet is filled with things from Newborn-9 months. I only really need to get a few more things and start washing everything.

Just lurking thru your thread and wanted to comment on this. I just finished a peds cardio rotation. Just wanted to say that murmurs are extremely common in babies/children. In fact, most all children have a murmur at some point in their lives, just depends on if someone happens to be listening. Most end up being totally benign. Obviously you definitely should f/up with a pediatric cardiologist to get it checked out, but just wanted to reassure you that this is not necessarily out of the ordinary. Anyways hope that helps you not to worry until you get to your appt.

Hi ladies-I made it to 30 weeks (today)! Yah! :) I had my sprinkle yesterday-about 12 adults (plus some little ones). It was a fun time and I got a lot of diapers and diaper wipes (which is all I really wanted/needed). Here are some pics:

The milk and cookie bar (yum!!):

Here I am with a friend-I can't believe how much bigger I look than just two weeks ago. And it's not really my stomach-my whole body is just blown up like somebody inflated me with air. I looked the same way with my first at 30 weeks, so I guess that's just the way it works with me!

THANKS POOKIE! That is great to hear! Our appt. with the Pedi Cardio is Wednesday. So I am eager to hear what she has to say and of course, remaining hopeful that it truly is nothing to worry much about.

On to our newest problem...ugh, so DD hasn't pooped in over 12 hours (probably more like 16 at this point). She has been very regular and I have been monitoring the poops and pees since she was jaundiced. Now I'm a little concerned and if she doesn't by 9 am when the pedi opens I plan to call. I hear her straining and grunting...so it's obvious she's trying to go but nothing is coming out (although she's still peeing plenty.) Hopefully it's nothing. Oy...nothing can be easy.

PETDOC...glad your son is no longer breech!

LINEKELEI and BENSGIRL...congrats on sucessful showers!

CRAFT...I still canNOT believe how big Claire is!

Alright it's 2:30 am and I should be sleeping since DD is. But I felt terrible because I kept meaning to come back in here and post a pic of DD. So without further adieu...here she is!
I call this her "tanning bed" with her sunshades on. LOL :p

04-18-2011, 04:52 AM
poca - she's beautiful!

looks like a fabulous shower linkelei.

bensgirl - my c/s is scheduled for 38w6d so yep, I'm down to the single digits now. Hopefully now is when time will start flying by. I feel like this pregnancy has moved at a snail's pace up til now. Last time I went on bedrest at 35w and the first time at 36w so now is the time to get moving and get done what needs to be done.

I'm visiting my sister right now. Today I have my 2 kids and her 2 kids while she works. Luckily the weather is gorgeous here so I am hoping to spend as much of the day as possible at the playground.

04-18-2011, 08:46 AM
Last week was crazy around our place.

Wednesday night and Thursday morning I had tons of contractions.

Now 2 midwives have told me they just sound like BH's. But one more bout and we are hitting L&D. Thursday they were <5 minutes apart, 45ish seconds the entire drive to daycare (25 minutes) - this is when I phoned a midwife (not mine they were both off call) she said I could meet her at the hospital or go home and take a bath.....since DH was at home (opposite direction of the hospital) I then went home for a bath and lots of water to drink. I had them most of the day but they did lessen up as the day progressed.

It seemed the car irritated them - because they picked up in the afternoon when I went with DH to get DD.

I went in on Friday and suggested to my boss that we get my replacement (who is only 40% time) in for the next 2 weeks straight. If this continues I will be off work after my next appointment (April 28 - 34 weeks).

Thankfully I only had a few sporadically over the weekend.

04-18-2011, 11:41 AM
Poca - What a doll! Hope your appt with the cardio goes well. Sounds like you have gotten some great advice/input.

BensGirl - Glad your "srpinkle" was fun. Sounds like you have been busy too. And an Ipad...what a great gift :)

linkelei - Looks like your sprinkle was fun too - love the cake and you look fab! I must say I am Jealous with a a capital J seeing how nice the weather is where you are!

Jane - Have a great time visiting your sister and enjoy that weather!

AFM - Over the weekend, baby dropped and quite dramatically. Freaked me out a bit because he litterally shimmied right down - I got stuck and had to wake DH to help me move in bed. LOL. The good, it took some pressure off my lungs and I can actually eat a little more at one time. The bad, it sucks having a softball stuck in your crotch :)

I had my 32 week appt today and before I even said anything to my doc about baby dropping, he took one look at me and said "wow, he dropped!". All is well though - no dilation but still a little soft. My next appt is May 2nd and he said after that appointment, baby can come anytime.

Nothing else too exciting going on around here. Our weather stinks so I spent the weekend sewing more things. DD has been very helpful - we sewed up a couple of blankets and four changing table pad covers. We got all of the baby clothes washed & put away in his little dresser and made a list of what we still need to get which is only down to a few items. Now if I could get my DH to finish a couple of projects he said would be done before the baby arrives, I will be really happy :)

04-18-2011, 12:34 PM

Jane Oh my gosh! 4 kids and pregnant?? You must be exhausted!
linekelei. Beautiful shower and where is that belly, girl?! You look great :)
Poca. Larissa is beautiful!!
Tara. Were they painful? Or just hardband uncomfortable? If they were painful I'd say they were real contractions but if they weren't then it was probably just BH. I get them a few times an hour everyday. Makes me very uncomfortable but they are never painful. Just keep an eye on them and I hope they slow down for you.
Jo. You are quite the seamstress! Lol. I can't sew to save my life let alone an entire nursery set. Glad to hea things are "moving along" and baby is getting ready. Sorry to hear you are having crappy weather.

AFM. I had my 36 week appt today and it was very informative. I did the GBS testing and had her check me while she was already down there. I am a "good" 1 1/2cm, very soft cervix and she decided not to do an u/s to check for head-down bc she said baby is very low and she felt her head as soon as she went in there. This is kind of crazy to me bc I didn't dilate at all until close to 40 weeks both times. So while I know it means "nothing" I am still excited that something is happening. Oh and as of today I'm up 34 pounds.

Funny tid-bit of the week....I broke our toilet seat the other day. Lol. I think bc I have to "lean" to the right to wipe (bc of my belly in the way) so the clips snapped clear off the bak of the toilet. DH and I were laughing so hard. So now it's a running joke that I broke our toilet seat. I posted about it in the confessions thread and some said they'd be offended by my Dh's comment. But honestly, I don't take it seriously and I don't have a weight issue so it doesn't bother me. It's all in good fun. He still thinks I'm "sexy" even at almost 9 months pregnant (or so he says...lol). In my defense though....they are probably the same toilet seats from 1995 and I'm convinced the plastic was deteriorating. :p

04-18-2011, 12:57 PM

[Funny tid-bit of the week....I broke our toilet seat the other day. Lol.

I snorted and almost spit out my water when I read this! Too funny! I hope it didn't buck you off ... lol! I had a toilet actually break. As in the entire bowl just colapse out from under me. (And I am only 5'0, 100 lber when not pregnant...) It was in a very old building so it was probably already cracked but living that one down took awhile :)

Yeah for your progress btw!!

04-18-2011, 01:03 PM
OMG Jo! That's hilarious! Lol. I had a friend try to "put out" a fire cracker in my toilet and it blew the toilet seat to pieces. Haha. Shot clear out the back of it. What a mess! And yes, it kind of bucked me to the side. I was like, "Oh sh*t!". LMAO. DH joked that we weren't buying another seat until after I have the baby for fear I'll break another :p

04-19-2011, 09:03 AM
Bensgirl - That is HILARIOUS!!! I would have been laughing with my DH too.

So the other night I had a dream that I couldn't fit through the door at work..... we were all hanging out in the parking lot trying to figure out how to get me in... when we realized I could BACK in.

I told DH and he started making beeping noises!!

Quick Q - what site allows you to link to photos? I just used to use facebook but they have changed the page so you can't do that now. I think I have an old shutterfly and snapfish accounts, either of those? I have a 32 week belly shot - and my cool 'new' stroller!

04-19-2011, 02:15 PM
petdoc~So glad baby boy flipped!

bensgirl~Sounds like you had a wonderful birthday! Yay for something happening! LOL about the toilet seat!

linekelei~What a fun looking sprinkle! You look amazing!

She is adorable, Poca!

lil_geek~These husbands show us no sympathy at all! :p As for photos, I use Dropshots (http://www.dropshots.com). Very easy to upload to and share from. Plus they'll host and all you to share videos as well.

AFM~Baby has insisted on keeping his foot jammed into the right side of my ribcage for the past couple of days. So, so uncomfortable!

DH is driving me nuts! We've had our name choices narrowed down to two options for weeks now, and I cannot get him to settle on either one. Last time being able to talk to DS during labor using his name really helped me get through things at home. I'd like to be able to do that again. I'm about to the point where I'm going to just make the decision and tell him "Baby's name is ____________. You don't get a say anymore." ;)

He's been the same way with other prep stuff, though, too. He says we still have plenty of time and is very much "whatever" when I point out that if I were to go into labor tomorrow, they wouldn't stop me. I don't know how to light the fire under his rear, but it needs to be done!

Okay, enough venting about DH. Overall things seem to be going pretty well. Other than today, I've felt pretty energetic. My next biggest nesting boost has got to be any day now because as I was driving to the library today I kept thinking that somebody needed to grab a broom and sweep those silly little helicopter seeds off the road because it was a mess.

04-19-2011, 04:10 PM
bensgirl LOL at the toilet seat story. My DH would probably have a few jokes too! hahaha!

lil_geek - I use Shutterfly and Photobucket. And BTW, my hubby is getting on my nerves too. He is not helping me at all! Which isn't a change from the norm but you would think he'd be trying to help out more around this house with me being 35 weeks pregnant. He and I will have to have a heart to heart talk before this baby gets here to let him know that I will not be able to do EVERYTHING around the house and with BOTH kids! I need his help!

Nesting is still in full swing. I plan to do more organizing and throwing away stuff tomorrow.

04-19-2011, 04:25 PM
LilGeek...all the pics I posted on the previous page were Photobucket. Once upon a time I used Snapfish for everything but I seem to remember at one time you couldn't post your Snapfish photos to CC anymore. That's when I started using Photobucket.

04-19-2011, 04:42 PM
lil_geek - I post photos on here from facebook.

I'm heading back home tomorrow. It's been wonderful visiting my sister but I am worn out and looking forward to returning home. It took us 8hrs to get here instead of the 6 it should. Hopefully the drive home will be better. This is the last of the travel for me for awhile!

04-20-2011, 05:23 AM
Ok so with my last pregnancy I got a horrible bladder infection the last few weeks of my pregnancy. Though I had no idea I even had a bladder infection until it put me into prodromal labor for 4 straight days before I actually went into 'real' labor. Anyway, on a hunch I took a home UTI test and guess what? Blaring positive result. Wtf!? I'm glad I found out but if I wasn't paranoid about history repeating itself I would have never tested. I also read online that bladder infections can exhibit no symptoms in pregnant women. So then shouldn't they be testing for it to be sure?? Ugh. So I just put a call into the MW.

04-20-2011, 06:44 AM
So, so tired this morning. DS fell out of bed around 5:45am, and I was not able to get back to sleep until 7:30am. Now I'm up for the day and feel like I can barely keep my eyes open. :(

04-20-2011, 04:18 PM
Well...I'm posting on my phone from the hospital! I had a doctor appt today after an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed that my fluid levels were low for the 2nd week in a row. So the maternal fetal medicine doc & my OB both agreed that I should be admitted in the hospital to watch it. They have me on IV fluids and drinking water. They plan to keep me here till Friday. Will have another ultrasound on Friday & if it's normal they will let me go home...but will likely put me on bedrest. If the fluids not better I don't know what they will do...deliver me, keep me here longer...who knows! :-( This same thing happened with my daughter and they ended up delivering me the next
Day..but she was @ 37 weeks! I'm only 35 weeks right now! :-( So I'm praying that these fluids increase.

04-20-2011, 05:39 PM
Hang in there, craftgenius! I'll be praying your fluids come back up.

I have felt worse and worse as the day has gone on. No throwing up but nausea has progressively gotten worse. I've had a pounding headache for the last 2-3 hours, and now heartburn has started. :( Plus baby boy has continued to wreak havoc on my cervix. I'm 36 weeks tomorrow and am honestly praying that baby gets here very soon. Starting May 1, DH and I are going to be actively trying to jump start labor. I think we are both anxious to get this little guy here.

04-20-2011, 09:02 PM
craft-Hopefully your fluid will go back up! Even if you make it to just 36 weeks, you will probably avoid a NICU stay. Hang in there!

tgr-I've got the nausea, too, but fortunately the heartburn hasn't been too bad. Have you tried ice cream, though? That seems to help me when I get it.

Anyone else carrying their baby like a doughnut around the middle? People always commented how small my stomach was with my first one, and now I'm getting the same comments with this one. I think it's because my stomach tends to grow sideways instead of out. With this one, I can feel the fluid well into my sides and love handle area, almost into my back. And, I've got kicking in my sides, too. It's a weird feeling to get kicked in the side instead of the stomach.

04-20-2011, 09:12 PM
tgr-I've got the nausea, too, but fortunately the heartburn hasn't been too bad. Have you tried ice cream, though? That seems to help me when I get it.
I've tried milk to calm the heartburn which works very well, but it aggravates my nausea (as does ice cream). I just keep telling myself I've only got 4 weeks left.

04-20-2011, 10:31 PM
MEL...I posted to you on our other board but in case you check here first I just wanted to say KJ was born at 35 weeks on the dot and required no NICU time (outside of the mandatory observation period my hospital requires of any baby born before 37 weeks.) After 5.5 hours of watching his breathing and temp (during which DH was with him every second) he was given a clean bill of health and shipped out to my room. So I am hoping and praying you can eek out a few more weeks but I did want you to know that 35 weeks can turn out fine in some cases.

04-21-2011, 05:32 AM
So - I'm sick again. Seriously. I have MAJOR congestion and sneezing. The thing that 'scares' me this time is I got a wicked cold with DD right at the same time (32 weeks) and my BP started to climb. And I was getting bloodwork done at the hospital for a research study I am in and my BP is up nearly 20 points (granted it is 117/77 - but last week it was 102/66). SO I am scared of history repeating itself. I am using Otravin and last night I took a cold pill. So frustrating since I have 3 'guides' from various hospitals and they all recommend different drugs!

Here is a comparison shot of myself when PG with DD and this time.

04-22-2011, 01:02 PM
craft - I hope your fluid levels came up, and that you are home now!!

tgr - ugh, I hate that 'banging on the cervix' feeling! I was thinking of taking some EPO and drinking RRL tea for the next couple of weeks. I am starting to get anxious, too.

linekelei - I am getting kicked in the side, too! As this baby keeps dropping, I feel the movements more and more into my sides. And that back fat/love handles thing bugs me to no end. I only get it really bad during pregnancy, so I can't wait to deliver and shed some of this baby weight!

lil_geek - I hope you feel better soon! I love the belly shots, too - I think you are carrying lower this time around; but you still look great!

I'm very late to the party, but Congratulations!!! to Delaney and Pocahontas! They are beautiful!

- - - -

AFM - it's so hard to do SO's and replies from my phone, but I have been reading along! We have been busy moving kids bedrooms around (and painting... ugh, hard work when you are pregnant!), and DH built DS a really kick-@ss loft bed for his room. I am officially DONE sewing diapers, and now I am focusing on knitting and getting laundry done. I will post a couple pics at the bottom. DD turns 2 tomorrow - I can't believe 2 years has flown by in the blink of an eye! She has been PLing and doing really well with it - she has been out of diapers during the day for over a month now, and we are super close to getting there for naptimes. Yes! One almost out of diapers just as I put another in! LOL But the good news is that a lot of her diapers are now freed up for the baby, so it's almost like doubling our stash.

I had my 37w appointment yesterday, and everything looks great! Nothing to report, really. It's frustrating driving 45 minutes (and dragging the kids with me!) for a 20 minute appointment. GBS results came back negative, we signed the release forms to decline Vit K and eye drops, and gave the MW directions to our house for my PP appointment. I love that they come to my house the next day to check/weigh the baby and myself. Baby movements get lower and lower, and my pelvis/cervix are definitely paying the price.

OK - here are some of the diapers

Some of the covers - the "Feeling Lucky" cover has a PUL layer underneath, and is from a t-shirt I wore on my honeymoon.

Couple of fitteds - made from old t-shirts of DS's. He chose the inner material, which is flannel

PUL diapers that DS chose the fabrics for, as well as the inners. The green/yellow one has brown and yellow bugs in it.

And the shorts I just finished knitting last night - a pair of sock monkey ones.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_b6mAQgigdPc/TbFp8fW6d_I/AAAAAAAACvQ/gCRREb4TsX4/s512/IMG_8194.JPG https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_b6mAQgigdPc/TbFqBFMBLKI/AAAAAAAACvU/lKDVU4ltox8/s512/IMG_8195.JPG

Sorry for all the pictures! I am just super excited about this stash! Everything I made was completely upcycled or from my current fabric stash - the only things I purchased were a couple new spools of thread and some new elastic. I had all the tshirts, flannel, towels for the absorbent parts, etc. It was definitely a labor of love!

04-22-2011, 06:19 PM
Nuhmah WOW!! You made those?? :-O That's pretty amazing! They are beautiful! ...definitely a labor of love!!

Well I'm HOME!!! WOOHOO!! I'm so excited! This morning I had my ultrasound and my fluid was normal so they sent me home. I have to go back to the doctor on Monday for a followup ultrasound. It feels SO great being home!

04-22-2011, 09:34 PM
nuhmah~Wow! That is an awesome stash! I love that you made some of them out of old t-shirts and whatnot.

craftgenius~So glad you are home and that your fluid levels are back to normal! :)

AFM~Lots of backaches going on. I'm feeling much more movement down lower, although I still get the stretching out/foot in the ribs if I try to bend over. Looking at my belly I don't think he has dropped at all, but I've been able to breath a little easier. Plus, my heartburn has also been significantly better! *Knock on wood* I've also been able to actually sleep through the night as well, although I'm finding myself waking up anywhere from an hour to hour and a half earlier than normal.

Well, speaking of sleep, I need to shut this computer down and get some shut eye. Tomorrow morning is our town's Easter egg hunt.

04-23-2011, 04:18 AM
craftgenius - that's good news! I'm so glad you got to go back home.

nuhmah - what an amazing stash of diapers! and I love the monkey pants. And here I was feeling productive for being almost done with a second blanket for the baby (crochet).

I'm back home after spending a few days with my sister. My kids were both practically hysterical when it was time to go, they were having too much fun and didn't want to leave their cousins. But it was time for us to go. I was worn out from the busy days. And my poor pregnant body couldn't take any more nights on the sofa bed. We're slowly ticking things off the to do list here. I still feel pretty good, just low on stamina.

04-23-2011, 05:54 AM
Had my 36 week appt. yesterday and all is well. I'm measuring 40 weeks, I'm up 19 lbs, baby is still head down, and I was tested for GBS. Weird, since I KNOW I wasn't tested last time b/c I was having a scheduled c-section. But I saw a midwife yesterday b/c my Dr. is on vacation and she insisted on doing it. I asked her to check my cervix while she was down there. Nothing happening, despite all the contractions I'm having. Can't believe I have 17 days to go till baby is here. It seems so unreal. This week I have got to finish up with the baby clothes and gear. DH actually suggested last night that I go ahead and pack my hospital bag since I've been soooo uncomfortable and having sporadic contractions. Probably not a bad idea.

04-23-2011, 06:00 AM
my dr did the GBS test on me last time even though I was having a scheduled c/s.

04-23-2011, 07:42 AM
Jess: We would have had a big laugh if I did that to our toilet seat! DH jokingly has called me "waddles" since early on in this pregnancy and I joke a lot about my fat ass. But I am a small, skinny person who's never had weight issues so it really doesn't bother me!

Poca: She's gorgeous! I still can't believe there are babies in this thread!

craftgenius: That's scary about your fluid levels, but I'm glad they are back to normal and that you are home. Hopefully Monday's appointment will be good news, too.

lil_geek: You look great! A tad bigger, but not much! Hope you're feeling better!

nuhmah: Your stash is awesome! I can't believe you made those out of stuff you already had!

tgr: Glad you're feeling a little better! An entire night's sleep helps a lot!

Jane: Bet you're glad to be back home! As much as I like getting away sometimes, it's always nice to come home!

countrymouse: Glad everything is going well! That's crazy that you've had tons of contractions but nothing happening. I can't believe it's almost May!

AFM: Chugging along. 6 more weeks! Some friends of mine told me last week they want to throw me a shower so I'm trying to squeak out some things for people to buy. I saved stuff from last time and already bought cloth diapers and a lot of clothes, so I'm sort of at a loss. I may wait and see what people buy and then take back the other stuff I bought since I left tags on the clothes. I don't usually depend on other people to buy things for us! I need to order artwork for the baby's room and maybe a few other small things and then that will be done! I may set up the pack and play and other get ready things just so I feel like I'm doing something.

I'm also dying to go swimming but DD is still on restriction for 2 more weeks. Can't wait until the first week of May when her 6 weeks is up!

04-23-2011, 07:52 AM
Jane&Andy and Countrymouse - What is a GBS? I had a scheduled c-section last time too so I guess this wasn't done. So what things do you guys have left to do?

packing the bag - I guess I need to do this also over the weekend because what if I go back on Monday for my followup ultrasound and they admit me again! When my hubby packed my bag on Wednesday he brought me ONE night gown, a pair of shorts, one pair of socks and FOUR robes! Why in the world would he pack 4 robes and only 1 night gown?? And he didn't pack my toothbrush and toothpaste or my comb and brush. He had to go out and buy me a new toothbrush and toothpaste and my hair was looking a hot mess the whole time I was in the hospital! LOL My mom just bought me some really nice night clothes to wear in the hospital which I will be packing. I also bought baby boy's coming home outfit and an outfit for his first photos. I'll have to post pics of them.

So yesterday we bought a bunch of diapers so I am all set with all my needed baby supplies. But hubby needs to move the eliptical machine out of our bedroom and set up the crib in there. I'm getting pretty excited. While in the hospital I watched episode after episode of A Baby Story on TLC and almost teared up every time! Dang hormones! LOL! I also watched this show about people who had babies while they didn't even know they were pregnant! That was so crazy!! I can't imagine how anyone would not know they were pregnant...especially at the end with all the movement.

Updated to here!

04-23-2011, 08:16 AM
group B strep (http://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/groupbstrepinfection.html) is a vaginal/rectal bacterial infection that is fairly common and dangerous for a baby to be exposed to during a vaginal delivery. My dr said they were testing me anyway last time (scheduled c/s) just to cover all bases. If you test positive they give you antibiotics while you labor and want you to come to the hospital earlier in your labor.

04-23-2011, 09:22 AM
Group B- The midwife said something about covering all bases, and mentioned that it was possible that they detected strep B in my urine sometime during the last pregnancy so never needed to do the actual swab test. Who knows? I just know I would remember the giant swab poking around down there.

nuhmah - OMG I am so jealous of your CD stash! And that they are homemade has blown my mind!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the wool shorts!

04-23-2011, 03:06 PM
Thanks, PookiePrincess. I'm relieved to be rid of some of those discomforts!

Left to Do~Way too much!!! I did bring the infant carseat down and may try to install it. I'm not sure where to put it in our new van though - back seat drivers side or middle captains chair passenger side. In the back seat, he'd be more interior side to side, but the middle seat would probably be much easier to load him into. I've tried to figure out a 3 across arrangement, but I can't get anything to work since the older two are still in bigger seats (almost 6yo is 40lbs on a "big" day and 3yo is 28lbs). In addition to the carseat dilemma, I still haven't repainted the boys' room or finished cleaning out the old office to set the baby gear up in. That's in addition to just playing catch up on the day to day stuff - laundry, dishes, vacuuming, etc.

Hospital Bag~I've barely thought of this. I do know I'd like a new nightgown for after that first shower in the hospital. I found a nursing one at Motherhood that I may request for Mother's Day (if I haven't had this baby by then).

AFM~DH and I took the kids to the community Easter egg hunt today. Afterwards, they wanted to go to ILs, so I headed to town for some quiet shopping time. ;) DH decided that we'd buy me a new computer with our tax return (in addition to paying off a good chunk of debt), and I wanted to do some in person research. Then I decided to walk around the mall. I still don't have a coming home outfit for this baby, but I just can't find anything cute! :(

I'm having lots of backaches these days with continued cervix jabs. As uncomfortable as it is, I'm trying to view this as a very good thing in regards to baby's arrival. ;)

As I said, we went to the Easter egg hunt today, and I ran into a lot of former schoolmates. Most couldn't believe I was so far along and said I looked great! I'm terrible about believing compliments, but I just smiled and said thank you. Of course, they all looked insanely great (after multiple children themselves)! Nonetheless, it was good to hear because I really do feel liked a beached whale and not at all like a cute pregnant lady these days.

Okay, gotta go rescue FIL from DS. :p Then it's off to figure something out for dinner.

04-23-2011, 06:39 PM
Thanks for all the diaper stash love!! :) I am pretty proud of my efforts, and I finally finished prepping and putting them away today! It feels so good to have them washed, pockets stuffed, and ready. Which leads me to my next question....

How many clothes should I have for this kid??? I had a bunch of onesies, side snapping shirts, AA pants, etc, but I lent them to my sister and she GAVE THEM AWAY without asking! Grrr. So now I have to kind of start all over. Pretty much all my NB/small stuff is gone. Everything I have that is gender specific is the wrong season (DS was born in a super hot July), or girly. So this is pretty frustrating. Any suggestions? I tend to keep my kiddos in basics for the first few months, and I'm not really into outfits when they are super young. Any suggestions, or good deals right now?

craft - 4 robes, and no toothbrush/paste??? What is with men?!? LOL My DH used to travel 5 days a week for work, and he was a master packer - or so it seemed. Now that he has stopped traveling, he *always* forgets something. We vacationed in Cancun - forgot underwear. Attended a wedding cross country - no socks. It's amazing... how do they always manage to do something like that? :)

Hospital Bag - getting my stuff together for this. I need to get it packed, but I am still procrastinating. I am only anticipating being there a few hours (at the birth center), so I don't need to pack for days, etc. I need to get all of our snacks together this time, as I definitely dropped the ball on that one last time!

I need a new Baby Book - anyone get a good one? Want to share? :)

AFM - today was DD's 2nd birthday, and I spent the morning looking at her birth pictures and videos with her. It was rainy and yucky, and my body was doing something about every 8-10 minutes today, so we just did a small celebration after dinner with the 4 of us. Ice cream cake totally hit the spot... is it wrong that I am jonesing for another small slice?

04-24-2011, 11:47 AM
Nuhmah-I would be LIVID if my sister gave away my baby clothes w/o asking first!! As it is, I've kept everything from DS1, so I have tons and tons for the new baby. I pretty much figure he'll be in onesies and sleepers for the first few months, and have a few 'outfits' for special occasions. My problem is getting everything sorted and washed. I have so much it's hard to know exactly what I have or what will fit this kid since he will be bigger than DS1.

Baby book- I just picked up one at Target. It's pretty basic, but has lots of places to fill in specific info. I was really good about keeping up with DS1's book and pictures, and it was fun to look back through it. Especially seeing what the cost of a gallon of milk was 3 years ago and the headline news on the day DS was born.

Left to do- Go through another bin or 2 of baby clothes (then wash and hang them), bring up new baby gear (bassinet, bouncy, car seat, boppy, breast pump, etc). Raise crib mattress, start baby book, pack hospital bag, stock up on groceries/snacks to have in the house when I get home from hospital. Nothing really big, but I'd like to get most of this done this week.

04-24-2011, 12:04 PM
Haha, craft, your husband sounds like mine. With my first, I went to the hospital without a bag, too, and called him with a long list of things to bring back. He didn't even bring back half of it. This time, I am packing my bag early so we don't have that happen again!

nuhmah-Wow, that is amazing that you made all of those. They are so cute!!!

Baby Book-I ordered one from www.babysakes.com (I got one for DD from the same place). I'm pretty particular about the baby book since my mom had nice, detailed ones for me and my siblings. They have some really cute options if anyone is still looking.

Left to do-Make sure my breast pump still works right and get the bassinet out. Oh, and the bouncy seat, too. DH installed the carseat in his car, so we just have mine left to do. Pretty much it's all stuff that can be done (if it has to be) while I'm in the hospital after I have the baby. I am going to start packing my bag this week. I'm only 31 weeks, but I'm not taking any chances this time!

04-24-2011, 12:11 PM
nuhmah: Yeah, I'd be ticked too!

Clothes: I do lots of onesies and sleepers when they are little, too. I haven't bought very many newborn things as I'm expecting him to be 9 pounds and I've just done a lot of 0-3 month shopping. I do have several NB sleepers, some NB gender neutral onesies and hats from DD that I have out. Then in 0-3 I have more sleepers, onesies, cotton pants, some gowns and a few rompers. The only thing I am lacking I think is socks.

Baby Book: I got the Just One Year baby book at Target, probably the same one countrymouse bought. I think it's pretty equivalent to what we got for DD. I like the easy ones where you can fill in a little bit at a time and it's not too time consuming. I had one from Hallmark for DD in addition to the other one and it was just too overwhelming and I hardly did anything in it. It was too scrapbook-y for me. I still haven't added the pictures to DD's book and I would like to do that before the baby comes. I also got the Target one because the colors match the baby's room!

Left to do: I have a lot, though they are all pretty minor things, but I still have 6ish weeks. I need to install the car seat base, I've ordered art for the baby's wall just need to wait until it gets here and get frames and hang them, order decal for over crib (will do Monday), wash baby clothes, set up the pack and play and diapering area in our room, buy a trash can and maybe some decorative things or baskets for the shelf over the changing table, maybe get a new bouncy seat (I want one made for littler babies...like the papsan style), pack my bag for the hospital (or at least get a list going for this!), and decide when my mom is going to come out and stay.

04-24-2011, 04:50 PM
How many clothes? According to a lot of registry checklists, you need 5-7 one piece outfits, 5-7 shirts, 5-7 pants, 5 outer layers, 2 hats, socks and booties, mittens and snowsuit (winter babies), and 5-7 sleepers. What do I actually have? About 10 onsies, 3-5 pants, maybe 5 sleepers, and a few pieces of outerwear left over from DS1. I'd like to get a few more pieces (specifically pants) for this baby, especially if he spits up a lot like DS1 did.

Baby Book~I love to scrapbook, so I usually put one together myself. I do like to look at the available predesigned baby book templates and copy those. I also like to print off a calendar and note firsts on it along with a growth chart to track baby's growth and add it to the very last page of the book.

04-24-2011, 07:19 PM
Nuhmah - All those diapers look great!!!

Clothes - We totally lucked out in this department as friends of ours gave us loads and loads of barely used clothes from their DS. We have way more way then we will ever really need or use. We did buy a home coming outfit and DD picked out a cute outfit from Old Navy.

Baby Book - I scrapbook and keep journals for DD. Hoping to continue that for DS. I typically do a monthly re-cap with a variety of photos and "notes". They are fun to look through and DD gets a kick out of it.

Left To Do - We are pretty much ready to go. We have been stocking up on diapers and wipes the last few months so we have a nice stash. I have been working on fun sewing projects. The only thing we really need is a diaper bag...not sure what I want though and will probably use something I already have until I decide.

AFM - Nothing much has changed. Still having back pain, side aches and am just plain tired but other than that, things are great :) Just trying to stay busy so I can keep my brain occupied. It seems like the last couple of weeks have flown by.

04-25-2011, 05:34 AM
clothes - well, I do have some good news! I found another bin up in the attic of stuff that I never sent to my sister, so I found some more things! Woohoo! I thought I had it somewhere, and was really stressing when I couldn't find it. I still need a few more things, but at least I now have some socks and things to get me through the beginning! :) We co-sleep or swaddle at night, so I don't use sleepers (usually just onesies), but I do have a few of them to use when just hanging around.

Baby Book - I had the Humble Bumble book with DS, and still don't have one for DD. Oops. Maybe I will get my act together for this third one, and do DD's at the same time? I have things all written down and notes about when things happened, so I'm not too far off.

DH fixed the heater in our big soaking tub last night (our master bath is being remodeled), and I took an hour long bath with the jets, etc. It felt AWESOME. All that weight just being lifted - and it started to get my excited for another water birth! Now I am back to feeling heavy and yucky, but I could see a bath becoming a nightly addiction. :D

04-25-2011, 06:01 AM
Clothes: I kept everything from DD. But have yet to get it out! I know I have ALL the basics in Gender Neutral, then of course tons of girls clothes. I did pick up a pair of preemie boys sleepers - DD came home and needed preemie size for the first 3-4 weeks (she wasn't THAT tiny - just everything I had seemed to fit big!)

Of course I haven't even remotely taken anything out yet. I have to get my house back in order from our last 2 projects and DH has been less then helpful.

Baby Book: Looks like I may have ordered from Baby Sakes.... I have a BabyPrints one in pink. I didn't LOVE it but since they have them still I will likely order the same one for this kid once we know what it is!

Gender Prediction: Since I am one of the few who don't know..... This weekend we did the needle and thread trick and got boy (done by both my mom and my sister before we looked up what direction is which). We also filled in my mom's calendar with date/gender, AND with all my online friends have gotten ALL Boy predictions. So - it will likley be a girl ;)

Blood Pressure: Has started to creep. 2 weeks ago at the midwives it was 102/66, last week at the hospital it was 112/77, This morning at the kiosk it was 117/85 :( I have a cold (which can elevate BP) and a midwives appointment this Thursday. This is the exact time my BP went up with DD :(

04-25-2011, 09:38 AM
Proper post later...

50% effaced, a little past 1 cm

04-25-2011, 12:48 PM

I'm so behind! So I'm going to do as many SO's as I can without having to go back 5 pages. Lol

tgr Yay for progress!
lil_geek Sorry to hear about your BP :(. Hopefully you can keep it at a decent range and it's just bc of your cold. I saw your comparison picture from DD and you seem to jut out more with this one so I'm saying BOY for you. However, I'm always wrong! Lol
nuhmah I can't believe your sister gave away your clothes without asking you!!! That's absurd! Did she give any explanation? I'd be livid. I also have a jacuzzi tub that I should definitely take advantage of but never do. BTW I love your diaper stash. Very crafty :). I was also looking at pictures of when DS1 was born and I started crying! I can't believe he will be 4 in August. They grow so fast.
Craft So glad everything turned out ok! But how scary. I'm sure that makes you want to getbeverything done ASAP bc you just never know.

Clothes Gosh I have a ton of stuff! A lot of onesies, sleepers, outfits, hats, bows/headbands, swaddlemes, blankets, etc.... Got it all. My friends and family have been more than generous and love buying for this little girl (as have I of course).
Left to do Well, we are getting her room repainted his week. DH tried to just touch up some areas after we removed both DS's wall letters (we used adhesive) and it turned out horrific. Lol. So we hired a guy to come out to just repaint the entire thing. Then we have to wait a week before putting her name decal above her crib. But thats basically it. Oh and I need to order this picture for above her changing table but that's not a necessity. It's an inspirational quote 20x20" pink and brown wooden picture frame. Problem is it takes 3-4 weeks to get here so I better get crackin'!
Baby book I bought one from BRU. It's the same maker as the boys' baby book (though I have to admit I totally slacked on Zachary's! I should probably try to finish his).
Hospital bag I started packing it yesterday. It's pretty much done except mine to add some last-minute things like my makeup bag, brushes etc...

AFM. I'm doing pretty well. I had a bad day yesterday though. I just overdid it. I was so sore and by 2pm I was ready for bed but then I was hosting Easter and everyone was coming over at 3 so I had no rest-time. Then after we put the kids to bed I decided to start washing baby clothes and accessories (just threw a giant load in the washer then got in bed). However, my poor DS1 has had horrible allergies and was up all.night.long crying, itching and coughing. So I spent a better part of the night in his bed with him (he has a queen bed thank God!) and of course got no sleep. But at least my body was able to rest bc I actually felt pretty good today. No aches and pains. Yesterday I was literally waddling and in pain. Anyway, I felt horrible for DS bc I think what happened was not only was he outside ALL day long but he took a nap in his bed after DH had him outside for over an hour and I think the pollen was actually in his bed and it was just tearing him up all night long. But he wouldn't let me take his pillow pet away or change his sheets (he was just exhausted and miserable) so he just suffered all night. I also couldn't give him benadryl bc I had already given him 24 hour claritin that morning and I was worried about him ODing on antihistamines. So today is beautiful outside and I refuse to let him out. Ugh. He's being a trooper though. I washed everything in his room today, changed his clothes and washed him off (again). Hopefully tonight will be better. Oh and as if he wasn't suffering enough I took him to the ped to get checked out bc his eyes were horrible-looking and turns out he had a double ear infection! Most likely caused by his allergies and improper drainage. All last week he was driving me INSANE and I literally was ready to ship him off to boarding school so while I was upset he had an EI I was relieved that it was something causing his awful attitude/behavior. However he never told me anything hurt!

In baby news....everything is washed and put away, my bag is packed and I will probably install the carseat sometime this week or next (well, the base at least) so we are as prepared as possible. I still have to start packing a bag for the boys since they will be staying at MIL's while we are at the hospital. I started using EPO internally a few days ago. I have my MW appt tomorrow and I'm curious to see if I've had anymore dilation bc I have been losing my MP the last few days. Nothing crazy just bits and pieces. I was 1 1/2cm last week so we shall see. My skin feels very tight too so I'm pretty sure I've started swelling a bit the last week or so. I'm so glad I only have 3 weeks left! I'm sooo done and just ready to give birth already.

04-25-2011, 04:02 PM
nuhmah: So glad you found another bin! After your post this morning I took a long leisurely bath before lunch this afternoon. Sure was nice!

lil_geek: I hope your blood pressure doesn't keep going up!

tgr: Yay for something!

bensgirl: Sounds like you are ready!

AFM: Had my 34 week appointment today. She did the GBS test, much to my dismay. I thought it wouldn't be until 36 weeks! I'm trying to keep upbeat and hoping I'm negative this time. I really don't want to have to do the antibiotics this time. She also went ahead and checked my cervix since she was down there and I'm dilated to 1 cm! Cannot believe that! I didn't dilate at all last time until 39 weeks. She did say it's pretty normal once you've already had a baby and if this was my first she'd be worried. I go back next week for an ultrasound and hopefully by then the baby will be head down.

04-25-2011, 04:07 PM
Thanks, bensgirl and PookiePrincess!

As I said, I've made a little bit of progress! :) I forgot how uncomfortable those cervix checks were though. :( I made my next two appts for May 2 and May 9. I would've made the rest except that DH and I were both summoned for jury duty on May 16! I noted on the form that I was due that week, but pgcy is not a valid excuse for getting out of jury duty (being a nursing mother is, though). Hopefully I can get out of it.

Anyway, after my appt we went to Target, where I was able to pick up some extra sheets for the crib and the pack-n-play.

Okay, I gotta run. Gotta be at our scouts meeting in 20 minutes!

04-25-2011, 04:57 PM
Tgr & Pookie: Yeah for progress!

Bensgirl: Ugh, allergies are the worst. I had them horribly as a child but I grew out of them by the time I hit my teens. Crossing my fingers your DS does too!

lilgeek I hope your BP is just because of your cold.

nuhmah: I love your cd stash! *drool* I cd'ed my first two but my stash was ruining in a basement flood. I can't work up the gumption to cd #3 with no stash.

Babybook I am still on the hunt for the perfect book. The one I love is sold out on babysakes and amazon - of course. I may just have to settle for something else. I caught up with my girls' books this weekend. If I never add another thing to my oldest, I am happy with it. My mom really slacked on our baby books so I am trying to avoid repeating history.

Clothes I am waiting on a UPS delivery from my cousin with all of her son's baby clothes. We have a few gender neutral newborn items to get us through the first few weeks and a few special items we have picked up here and there but nothing like I had for the girls.

Hospital bag I need to get it packed. I like wearing the hospital gowns (less laundry once home) so I just really need toiletries, snacks and a robe. Does anyone have a suggestion on a mid-length lightweight robe? The one I used with the girls is soooo thick and fluffy -way to heavy for my sweaty post-partum self.

Left to do I need to get some prints hung (DH needs to print them!!) in the nursery. DD1's birthday party is this Saturday. After that, I am sending this baby an eviction notice. I paid all of our bills for this month and have next months either scheduled online or ready to mail so I don't have to worry about them while in the hospital.

AFM I did way to much this weekend. Our fence is going in tomorrow and we had to clear some trees from the property line. I helped DH haul giant branches across our yard (an acre). I felt ok while helping but then when to see Rock of Ages with my mom that night and was sooooo uncomfortable in my seat it was hard to last through the show. Today, I am really feeling it. I have been having contractions on and off all day. The baby can come tonight or tomorrow but after that, he needs to stay put. DD1 would not be happy with her baby brother if he interrupted her party ;)

04-26-2011, 08:15 AM
Checking in after many months! I'm on my phone so this will be short but I've been following along. I'm 36w2d today and feeling okay. Next Friday is my last day of work - can't wait!

Oh, and we are having a girl!

04-26-2011, 08:22 AM
Getting a mani/pedi so quick post...

2cm dilated and 50% effaced. Up from 1 1/2cm and 0 effacement last week.

04-26-2011, 11:03 AM
Yay, bensgirl!!

AFM~I've been extremely uncomfortable all day today and slept horribly last night. I'm thinking it's contractions, but I don't want to get my hopes up because it could be from yesterday's appt, too. Anyway, I'm getting a lot of mild-medium pain in my cervix and my back has been aching most of the day.

I went back through my LJ from DS's VBAC, and I delivered right at 2 weeks after the dr found me at 1cm. This year that would put me delivering at the beginning of finals week for DH! I'm hoping I go before then.

04-26-2011, 09:02 PM
Glad to hear that everyone is progressing! I'm still not quite at that point yet (31w 2d). Had my first NST today and everything was fine. I also saw my peri who checked my cervix (it's shorter, but still well within normal range), placenta, blood flow, and the growth of the baby. Little one is measuring in the 55th percentile and is estimated to weight about 4 pounds. She's very similar to DD's size, but hopefully she will cook longer and will actually be bigger! My peri also said it's ok to induce me at 38w 2d because of the Factor V, so only 7 weeks to go. June 14 is the big day if I make it that far (and assuming my ob will agree to that date).

In other news, DD has hand foot and mouth disease. Ugh, we have seriously had every single cold/virus thing that has gone around this year. She's miserable and can barely eat or drink, due to the sores in her mouth. Hopefully I will not get it. My peri is not really worried if I do catch it, so I was glad to hear that.

04-26-2011, 09:12 PM
Discomfort has continued all afternoon and into tonight. I've had a dull backache for several hours punctuated with cervix jabs, nausea, and contractions (although none regular). Last time I felt like this for the two days before DS was born.

04-27-2011, 05:49 AM
Linekelei-DS had hand/foot/mouth disease last summer and I got it too. He was pretty miserable for a few days (the not eating was the worst), but I had it really bad on my feet! I had no idea how contagious it is- hope you don't get it!

Baby changed position last night from head down to transverse- it made my stomach look bizarre and was soooo uncomfortable. I have an appt. today w/ a midwife but I don't know if she will check me internally. Still having a lot of painless contractions.

04-27-2011, 05:59 AM
linekelei - poor baby, HFM is such a miserable illness. My youngest had it last summer. He came down with it right after we got home from a vacation with my entire family and no one else got it. He was miserable for a few days and wouldn't sleep for 2 nights. The dr said he couldn't prescribe anything for it. Then my nephew got it right after Thanksgiving (and no one else who was at Thanksgiving got it) and his dr gave him tylenol with codeine.

I go back to the dr this morning (31w 5d). I started having some pitting edema in my legs over the weekend but my BP has remained fine. So hopefully this is not a sign of things starting to go downhill. All along I've consoled myself with the knowledge that if I do end up on bedrest again my Mom could come and help since she is now retired. But she's spending the second half of May out in CA with my Aunt who is very ill. So I need to hold together til that trip is done. She's getting ready to book her ticket to come here on June 12 (my c/s is scheduled for June 16).

04-27-2011, 07:26 AM
tgr - GEEZ! I'd think that being due the week of the jury duty would be the perfect excuse to get out of it!! Go figure.

lilgeek - Hope your BP goes back down.

Left to do - Well we still need to assemble the new swing and bouncer and install the new car seat and base. Also, hubby needs to move the elliptical machine out of our room and move the crib into the room. Right now the crib is set up in DD room as a toddler bed which she doesn't sleep on (she sleeps in a twin also in the room). My friend has said she will give me her baby's spa bathtub since he has outgrown it. So I need to remind her of that.

getting stuff back from people - I finally got my pack and play back from my friend. She borrowed it last year for her niece and she brought it back to me this weekend. But I still need to get back the boppie, the bumbo, and a breast pump from some other people. I will be renting the hospital pump, however like I did last time, I plan to keep this backup pump that my friend gave me in my car at all times in case something happens to the hospital pump..it's loud as heck but it works. I leant the bumbo and breast pump to my friend and I'm kinda annoyed that she leant them to her sister after she was done with them...without even asking me first! I know her sister and all and probably would have said she could use them, but she could have asked me first!

04-27-2011, 07:37 AM
Like I said earlier...I finally got baby's coming home outfit and his outfit for his first photos (to be taken at my home a few weeks after he is born)

coming home outfit...

04-27-2011, 07:53 AM
Jane&Andy - Hopefully you can avoid bed rest. I was actually reading on the PRe-E website that is has little effect in keeping your BP down. Are you working? Being off work would likely help even if you aren't on 'Bed Rest'... or just having some extra help around!! My ankles are start6ing to swell :( It's still not hot here and I have been wearing ankle boots - that I can't zip anymore!

tgr68 - Yeah for contractions! Hopefully you are making some progress. With DD I had full our contractions 5 minutes apart for about 12 hours before they stopped... DD was born 4 days later :(

linekelei - DD had HFM at 9 months. It sucked but the worst was over in about 48 hours. No one else caught it from her. She had it the same month she had Roseola!

countrymouse - Ugh - transverse sounds like fun ;) Did the babe turn back head down?

Craft - OMG your wipes cases put mine to shame! I made some 'pouch' ones I was pretty proud off - but they are really basic and look homemade compared to yours!

AFM - keeping an eye on my BP and it's behaving well. Yesterday my feet started to swell. I had to go home from DD's swimming lessons wearing my flip flops because I couldn't get my boots on (we are still cool and rainy - not flip flop weather!). Today is decently warm (but rainy) so I brought out the sandals and skirt - my office is stuff and warm.

04-27-2011, 08:50 AM
cute clothes craftgenius.

my check up this morning went fine. No weight gain in 3 wks. yay! BP was fine, measuring exactly on target.

04-27-2011, 08:57 AM
lil_geek - I don't work, I've been home with my kids since my first was born. But my DH has been working crazy hours lately so I've been very much on my own with the kids from the start of the day to the very end for awhile now. Hopefully by next week things will start to ease up for him. I don't have any family nearby to lean on for help.

04-27-2011, 10:34 AM
Ugh - that makes it much harder. My DH isn't working right now - but we have a farm so he is out doing chores AM and PM. I am VERY thankful for our daycare - if I was home alone with DD my BP would be MUCH MUCH higher!

04-27-2011, 10:47 AM
my oldest is in all day pre-k so that makes the days easier for me. But my little one quit napping a few months ago and it's so hard to even get 5 min of peace.

04-27-2011, 11:07 AM
linekelei~Ugh! Sorry to hear about the HFM. :( Hope DD starts to feel better soon and that you don't catch it.

countrymouse~Sorry baby switched to transverse. Would your m/w consider trying to turn baby again?

Hang in there, Jane! Glad to hear BP is fine so far.

craft~You'd think it would, but nope. I'm still required to call the day before and show up on the 16th if the trial is still on. I imagine at that point they'll let me out of it. I just hope everything is settled out of court or the trial is postponed. I'd hate to go into labor and have DH selected for the jury making him unavailable to be there with me. I know my MIL would volunteer to be in the delivery room, but she way stresses me out and complains all the time about "women today" WRT birth. Glad you got stuff back from your friend. The wipes cases you made are awesome!

lil_geek~Wow! My contractions last time never got that close while at home. I was up pretty much around the clock with regular but not painful contractions every 20 minutes. I showed up to the hospital dilated to 7cm! Glad your BP is still good. Sorry to hear about the swelling, though.

AFM~I slept okay last night, not great but not awful either. Today, I'm still having backaches and a lot of discomfort but fewer noticeable contractions.

Ooh! FedEx guy is here with my new computer!!! :D

04-27-2011, 05:39 PM
Baby was back to head down at my appt. this morning. Either he wasn't transverse last night, or he quietly flipped back. I had a few painful contractions in the doctor's office so the midwife checked me...OMG it was SO painful!! The last 2 appointments I was checked it didn't hurt at all, but this time I swore she was poking me with an ice pick down there. Anyway, I am just a fingertip dialated and 80% effaced. She said I am 'definitely laboring', however she believes I'll make it to my May 10 c-section.

My mom came over today to help me get baby stuff together and we got a lot done. Had to wash all the covers of the car seat, swing, bjorn, bouncy. Set up the Arms Reach co-sleeper and washed all the bottles and pump parts. I feel a lot better and more ready than ever.

04-28-2011, 03:55 AM
Glad baby was back to head down, countrymouse! Sorry about the painful exam. Mine was awful, too.

I've been awake for roughly 2.5 hours now. :( I see so much stuff that needs to be done and yet have no energy to do any of it. Some of it is larger projects, but most of it is just maintenance stuff - dishes, laundry, picking up, vacuuming, etc. I've gotten the occasional burst of energy but just feel drained overall.

This is our house. We finally caught up on laundry... but dishes and general picking up are SADLY behind :( I did finally get the kitchen swept this morning.

04-28-2011, 10:31 AM
My laundry room is in such a sad state at the moment. DD did get the play room picked up this morning, so I could vacuum. At least part of the dog hair is now gone!

Of course all this was counteracted by DS "helping" clean up breakfast by dumping his bowl of (thankfully) dry cereal in my recliner, which means I've got to dig the vacuum back out with all the attachments after lunch.

With kids around to "help", the work never ends.

so, my Mom called to talk about what dates she will be here for. My c/s is scheduled for 6/16 and she wants to come and stay from 6/12 to 7/10. And then she goes on to talk about how little she can do to help me. I realize that she is 65 and had back surgery last Spring for a herniated disc and both knees replaced in January. I don't expect her to run laps with the kids but if she's going to stay that long she has to be able to help me. We're squeezing this baby into a 1400 sq ft house. I don't have room to house an extra adult for a month if she can't help. I'm leaving my two oldest with her while I'm in the hospital, if she's not confident that she can handle them then I need to know. My oldest will have school all day on the day of my c/s and the day after so that will help. And maybe I will just have to send my DH home for awhile for that second night. We'll power through as best we can but I'm really irritated that she's acting like this. She likes to be coddled and now is not the time for that, at least not from me. She'd be happier if I had little girls who would sit and quietly play dolls with her but I don't. I have two very active boys.

At least they can both climb in and out of their carseats on their own so she won't have to lift them. And both her room and theirs are downstairs. I have a BIL who is a teacher so he will be off for the summer and can hopefully come up at some point to give my Mom a break while I'm still in the hospital. My kids LOVE him so it would make them happy.

I'm trying to be realistic about what my Mom can do to help. I don't expect to be an invalid this summer but if I'm going to get the big kids out to keep them active and entertained then I'm going to need some help. She hemmed and hawed over that. If she can't at least help me get them out then why is she coming?

I emailed my sister that my Mom is currently living with to ask how she is really doing but I probably won't hear back today b/c I know she has a lot going on today.

04-28-2011, 12:49 PM
my sister called and said my Mom is fine. She has her limitations but is not a total invalid. My Mom just happened to call me when she was tired from walking the mall and feeling down b/c she fell 2 wks ago and her back has been sore. And then my Mom called to apologize for stressing me out.

04-28-2011, 08:14 PM
Jane&Andy - I'm glad your mom apologized for stressing you out. I know how you feel because my mom had been saying similar things to me...talking about she doesn't know if she'll be able to do as much this time. But I'm sure that your mom is like my mom...once that baby gets here she will be all in.

04-29-2011, 05:54 AM
But I'm sure that your mom is like my mom...once that baby gets here she will be all in.

this is very much my Mom. She's going to fuss and whine in advance, she wants attention and reassurance. But when the time comes she will pull herself together.

32wks today! 5w 6d left to go!

04-29-2011, 06:19 AM
34 week appointment - went well! BP has gone back down so it was likley just a blip/my cold. 120/60 (which seems an odd combination!). Babe's heartbeat right around 140 again. Measuring just over 34cm (work did tell me I looked bigger yesterday!!)

We talked about labour and delivery. I had some questions about what is 'normal' for a non-induced, Midwife attended birth (since I was induced and care transferred to an OB last time). I am so excited to go on my own (keep hoping!) because 2 of the biggest complaints of mine were the IV and the belly monitor and those are only needed if they see an issue in early labour.

We also talked about 'length' of labour (not that you can predict). Everyone suspects it will be faster since it will be a non-induction, second babe. THAT scares me a bit. We live ~45 minutes out. But I am in no way planning on going to to hospital at first contraction (I had a full day of contractions at 5-1-1 with DD before they stopped). Basically I have to pay really close attention to what my body feels like it is doing!

Group B Strep test is next appointment (36 weeks - May 10)

05-01-2011, 08:10 AM
The baby is being lazy this morning and not moving much. I probably shouldn't worry right? I'm kinda freaking out a bit. But I have an appt tomorrow morning. Somebody PLEASE tell me not to worry! :-(

05-01-2011, 09:53 AM
Don't worry! I had that happen the other day. After I got to thinking about it, I knew I felt him early in the day and then not much after that. Not long after he was moving all over. Give it a little time before you freak!

05-01-2011, 10:09 AM
don't freak out, give him some time.

05-01-2011, 10:47 AM
My baby hasn't been moving as much lately either, and the contractions have definitely slowed down. I think there just isn't a lot of room left for movement in there. Try drinking some juice- sometimes that seems to wake him up and get him moving.

Don't freak out yet!

05-01-2011, 11:45 AM
Craft I'm sure everything is fine. I've noticed a huge decrease in movement from starting about 36 weeks but I know it's bc the baby is getting bigger and there isn't too much room to move around. I do, however, have a Doppler so anytime I'm feeling uneasy I take a listen. And also, she will (at some point) make some pretty big movements so I'm ok. If you really haven't felt him at all thou I'd probably call. Trust your gut. Good luck!

So last Tuesday I was 2cm and 50% effaced. I'm thinking I'm probably further along now bc I've been losing my mucous plug like crazy the last few days. I've been losing bits and pieces over the last few weeks but this is a lot.

2 weeks until my due date!!!

05-01-2011, 04:53 PM
I'm not freaking out too much now, but he has definitely been sluggish today. He is moving some and if I shake my stomach he'll move. He's just moving as hard and often as usual. I'm going to the doctor in the morning so I guess I can wait till then to find out what's up. But I sure wish had a Doppler at home!

05-02-2011, 04:05 AM
Let us know, craft!!

05-02-2011, 09:22 AM
Okay, who else can't believe it's May?

I am just shocked at how time is flying. This pregnancy has flown by for me. I am starting to get uncomfortable and if we're home sitting on the couch kills my back. I've been trying to spend time on the birth ball, which is hard because DD thinks it's a toy! I am also getting a cold and it's the first time this entire pregnancy that I've been sick. Figures I'd get sick way at the end! My to-do list has dwindled. I am waiting on the decal to come and DH has to hang the 2 pictures. I installed the car seat base yesterday and set up the pack and play in our room. The only thing I need to do is detag and wash all of the baby's stuff and make a list and/or start packing my hospital bag. I am ready (well, ready in the sense of around the house, but he can wait 4-5 more weeks for closer to his due date)!

My ultrasound is tomorrow and I'm interested to see how much they estimate he weighs.

05-02-2011, 10:18 AM
So the nesting/realization has finally occurred (to me at least, DH still feels we have plenty of time and that anything I NEED done can be done after the baby comes if it had too! He is TOO laid back!)

I/we spent the weekend working on getting our disaster under control. It's still not great but the house is in MUCH better shape after last months renovations. our goal is to finish all the organization/ cleaning this weekend so we can get the cleaners in to do a 'deep clean' (where they wash baseboards and everything) before the long weekend. Car is getting detailed this weekend and I am going to install the car seat base after they are done.

Baby room is empty - but has no baby stuff in it yet. That will be this weekend too I guess - maybe the one after for the crib.

05-02-2011, 12:02 PM
Just got back from my appointment. I am 1 cm dilated and 80% effaced. Progress :) We did an u/s too to check fluid levels and all looks well. Baby is measuring at 5 lbs, 4 oz and he showed the Dr. some of his great moves.

Yesterday we toured the hospital that my Dr. wants us to deliver at and I must say I was pretty disapointed. This morning I told him my "issues" and we agreed that if I make it to my scheduled day, we can go to the other hospital (where I delivered DD) in the network but if I go into labor in the middle of the night, I will need to go to this one. My issues with the hospital were that the nursing staff were not very friendly, they were quite rude to DD and the rooms are very, very small which would make it difficult to have the baby, DH, DD and my mom to just be in the room to just visit let alone anywhere for DH or DD to sleep/rest if they wanted to. They were very busy yesterday - all rooms except one were filled but still, the person who is giving the tour should be at least pleasant. And the fact that she would not talk to DD when she was asking a question really irritated me. She is only 5.5 years old but she was asking real questions and not being silly.

Anywho. Perhaps I am feeling that way because I am tired & uncomfortable 24/7. Between not being able to sleep well, baby boy keeps jabbing me in the cervix and my back & hips aching to high heavens, I am not the funnest person to be around right now. My DD told me "it takes patience to grow a good baby mamma!". She is such a sweetheart and so patient with me :)

05-02-2011, 01:40 PM
jo&sean - I wouldn't be too happy about the hospital staff person not talking to my DD too! When I was in the hospital last week and DD came to the hospital, the nurses were all so sweet to her. One of them brought her some markers and paper so she could draw.

AFM - I had an ultrasound today and my last visit with the maternal fetal medicine doctor. He said that my fluid is still on the low end of normal but much better than it was when they admitted me to the hospital last week. He wants me to come back in for one last ultrasound and followup with my regular OB doctor on Thursday to make sure things are still the same...if so I should be good to go for my scheduled c-section on next Wednesday (May 11). I can't believe I'm down to single digits....ONLY NINE MORE DAYS!!! Baby boy is moving more today than he was yesterday...I guess he was just being lazy yesterday...so my mild freak out moment is over. :)

Hubby moved the elliptical machine out of our bedroom this weekend but he still has to move the crib back into the room and put the front rail back on as well as lift the mattress. And he still hasn't assembled the new swing or bouncer. Knowing him, he'll probably be doing that while I'm in the hospital! LOL

05-02-2011, 07:29 PM
craft-Glad to hear baby is moving more today!!

I had my NST today and it picked up that I was/am having contractions 10 minutes apart. The nurse ran it by my peri, but she said to take it easy until my next NST on Thursday. I don't know how much more "taking it easy" I can do since I sat all day other than a quick Target run with DD. I had some intense contractions this weekend, but nothing consistent, so I wasn't really worried. However, I'm only 32w 1d, so this is really too early for a baby. I'm only 2 weeks away from when my water broke with DD, so I'm definitely feeling a little nervous. I really just need to make it to 36 weeks and am hoping and praying for that!

05-02-2011, 07:30 PM
Glad you got some reassurance Craft! My c-section is 1 day before yours and I think I'm still in denial that this is actually happening...soon!

AFM, I'm slowly getting my to-do list accomplished. I brought up all the baby gear from the basement and it is all washed, set up, and 'in place' for baby. All clothes are washed and put away. Pretty much everything left on my list isn't even baby related except to pack my bag and install the car seat. Have some errands to do and a little more organizing, then I'll be set.

I have an appt. tomorrow w/ my OB who is finally back from his long vacation. It will probably be my last appointment- yikes! People are telling me I've dropped, but I really don't think I have. I've actually felt pretty good (except for horrible allergies right now) and haven't been terribly uncomfortable, which makes me think the baby is higher up rather than dropped. At this point w/ DS1, I could barely walk or sleep. I think him being breach really did a number on my body and I had hip/groin pain for a good 18 months after he was born. I don't have that kind of pain this time, thank goodness! Just the usual 9 months pregnant pain.

05-02-2011, 09:33 PM
craft~Glad baby picked up his movement and that you were able to breath a sigh of relief.

Pookie~I'm both relieved and surprised that it is May! Crazy to think more babies could be arriving any day now!

jo~Yeah for progress!

linekelei~Wow! Take care of yourself!

AFM~As of this past Saturday, I am full term!!! My belly is measuring right on schedule at today's appt. My OB didn't check me today at all, so I have no idea if I've progressed since last appt. With DS it was a couple of weeks from dilating to a one and his arrival. Next Monday will be two weeks from when the midwife checked me.

Mostly dealing with exhaustion these days. I can hardly stay awake in the evenings and that's with trying to catch a quick nap during the kids' rest time.

I also bought an exercise ball to sit on during the days to see if that helps get things moving. How long are those of you with one sitting on them? The longest I've sat on it at a time was about 45 minutes with a few adjustments here and there. Is this too long? Not enough?

Saturday I sorority sister of mine was having a huge yard sale with a friend. There were tables of both girls and boys clothes 0-4T, so I picked up a handful of things for both boys! I ended up getting a box of clothes between the two for under $10! :D

05-03-2011, 06:20 AM
tgr68 - With DD I sat on the ball constantly. I even had a 'disc' on my office chair that works the same way - so I don't think you can sit on it 'too long' unless it causes you discomfort. Actually - my water started leaking after I sat on the ball for a few hours (at 38 weeks) while we had company over and no chairs left!

countrymouse - Good for you getting all set up! Hard to believe you have such short time left!

linekelei - DD was full term so it wasn't as big of a concern with us - but I had SO MANY contractions at 32 weeks - not sure if there was a big growth spurt or something my uterus didn't like? Hopefully baby stays put another 4 weeks at least!

jo&sean - We did a tour before DD and it was HORRIBLE! The tours at our hospital are run by volunteers and they knew nothing. My L&D experience was good - but my stay after was horrible too. Go with your gut if you can!!

05-03-2011, 08:44 AM
Okay, I am just putting this "shameless plug" out there that if any of the "MAY GIRLS" want to go into labor today, it would be a FINE day to have a baby since upteen million years ago today my mom went into labor with me! LOL :p (I will leave you JUNE GALS out of it so that your babies can bake a few more weeks! ;))

05-03-2011, 08:46 AM
Happy Birthday Poca!

05-03-2011, 10:00 AM
I think I'm having some periodic Braxton hicks contractions. I didn't have those (or notice them) with my first two. It just feels funny but not painful and my belly is tight. Just now I felt one but when I stood up it hurt, it hurt enough that I couldn't walk. So I'm going to take it easy and hope that doesn't happen again. I'm only 32 1/2 weeks and I still have a ton of work to do this week for teacher appreciation week at my son's school. This is not the time for me to do anything that will land me on bedrest, or worse - delivering now. I go to the MFM tomorrow afternoon for an u/s and an nst.

I have about 2 1/2 hrs til #1 gets home from school and I've plopped #2 in front of the tv with a new video.

05-03-2011, 02:36 PM
lil_geek~Thanks. As I said, I sit on it for about 45 minutes at a time. I seem to need a break after that and can barely move to get off the ball. After a break, I come back to it. I've also been trying to sit on it instead of my desk chair for our school time.

pocahontas~LOL! Happy birthday! My kids were praying that their new brother would arrive today because they thought it would be cool to share a bday with his uncle (my BIL). We tried to make it happen, but it didn't. :( ;)

AFM~I found out 2 people due the same week as me IRL had their babies on the 1st and 3rd. One is one of my dearest friends due just 5 days before me. The other just an acquaintance. Hopefully this is a good sign for me! ;)

Continued sporadic contractions here. Sitting on the ball seems to help at least make them more noticeable, so I'm trying to sit on it as much as possible. Maybe it's wishful thinking but alot of my discomfort these days seems centered in my cervix and hips, and (TMI alert) I started having some pretty loose stools in the last 24 hours.

05-03-2011, 02:44 PM
Drive-by post:

I'm a "good 3cm" dilated and 80% effaced! She said I was probably more than 3cm but not quite 4. And I had an u/s today that said baby girl was 7lbs 3oz. So if I make it to my due date she is expected to be 7lbs 15oz.

05-03-2011, 03:38 PM
Happy Birthday Poca!

bensgirl: Yay for progress!

tgr: I just sit on the ball when possible. Last pregnancy it was really comfortable for me and I sat on it while watching tv and playing on my laptop. This time it's harder because DD just thinks it's a toy for her to play with.

Jane: I wouldn't be worried about one contraction that hurts, but if they continue I would take it easy.

countrymouse: Doesn't it feel good to get all of that done?

linekelei: I hope those contractions stop!

craftgenius: Next Wednesday! It's getting so close!

jo&sean: Yeah, I wouldn't be happy about hospital staff treating my DD that way. It would definitely leave a bad taste in my mouth!

AFM: I got nothing but good news at my appointments today! Baby is head down! Yay because I was starting to worry just a bit! The ultrasound estimated his weight at 6 lbs, 3 oz. He will probably surpass his sister's birth weight! My GBS test came out negative! I am super excited about that since I was positive last time. I'm glad she did the test this time because usually they just assume you are GBS+ if you tested + for a previous pregnancy. I'm still about 1 cm but she said not getting any softer so she thinks I'll easily make it to 39-40 weeks.

05-03-2011, 04:45 PM
pookie - it was only just the one that hurt and nothing more since then so I've stopped worrying.

I've been in such a bad mood today, hopefully I can pull myself together tomorrow. I think I'm just getting tired of feeling so tired and stressed out about the things I need to get done.

05-03-2011, 08:26 PM
Woohoo, bensgirl!!! :D

Thanks, Pookie. So glad you got great news at your appt!

I have been such an emotional mess this afternoon. I tried to put in the infant carseat and found the van to be a mess, so I had to vaccum it out. Then, I couldn't find the LATCH straps, and when I finally got the base in, it wasn't even. Now, I have to go buy a pool noodle in order to get it installed properly. Ugh! What a nightmare this one task has been for me!

05-04-2011, 04:38 PM
had an NST and u/s today. Baby continues to measure 1 week ahead and is estimated to weigh 5lbs 1oz (I'm 32w5d today). Everything looks good. I start going to the MFM once a week now for NSTs. It's a pain since I can't bring the kids with me unless I have another adult but luckily my DH can usually work from home when I need him to.

05-04-2011, 08:59 PM
Well today I spent the day driving all around town looking at vehicles. Yesterday we narrowed down our potential car selections to the Chevrolet Traverse, the Mazda CX-9 and the Ford Explorer. With the new baby coming, we needed a car with a 3rd row because we often travel out of town and go places around town on the weekends not only with our 4-year old but with my 19-year old stepdaughter and my mom as well. After driving a few cars and shopping around for low mileage pre-owned vehicles we decided to get the Chevrolet Traverse! We got a great price on a car that only has 24,000 miles on it and I absolutely LOVE it!!! It has a navigation system, 2 sunroofs, MP3, Onstar, satelite radio, bluetooth, rear video backing assist, tinted windows and lots more bells and whistles. It is really nice and is most definitely the nicest car I've ever had! What a nice Mother's Day gift from hubby! :D

I was all excited about it so I told my mom about it and she was being negative as usual. She always has to burst my bubble!! We didn't trade in our cars but decided to keep them and continue driving them back and forth to work and use the new car for our weekend car. Our two other cars have quite a few miles on them so we really wanted something new and more roomy to travel in. My mom always forgets that I have a stepdaughter who we need to acccomodate. She is 19 and is with us quite a bit when we go somewhere and I don't see that changing anytime soon. My stepson is 23, married and about to be a father himself, so he will undoubtedly no longer be riding with us anywhere...but Leah is single. My mom thinks we spend way too much money on stuff, but believe me, we are some frugal people. She always thinks about how her own financial situation was when she and my dad were raising a family (she was a teacher). But we make WAYYYY more money than she did and can afford to do the things we do...which really isn't that much! I dont' know why I feel like I have to justify myself to my mom all the time!

05-05-2011, 06:01 AM
yay for the new car craftgenius! I'm hoping to hold out about 2 more years with my Honda CRV (so only 2 rows of seating) which means we won't be able to accomodate any extra people (not that we hardly can with just 2 carseats in it - my DH has been known to sit in the trunk space rather than squish between the seats) but we rarely need to fit an extra person in there. And we'll just have to be really careful not to overpack for car trips. Our next big trip will be in August and luckily it works out that we can easily stash some of our stuff in my SIL's truck.

my c/s is 6 weeks from today! (I think I said that last week too but I was off by a week unfortunately) I need that time to get stuff done but at the same time I'm so ready to be done with being pregnant.

05-05-2011, 01:28 PM
Yay for a new car, craftgenius! Sorry your mom is being so negative. I'm dealing with negativity from my dad on everything surrounding baby #3. I have one sibling, and his new wife only has two children. He just can't comprehend how anyone can afford to raise more than two children at all, and poo-poos on our decision in his own passive aggressive way.

AFM~I've gotten a bit of my energy back and was able to make some significant progress on both the kitchen and the laundry room. I got some more of baby boy's stuff put away, but it's been a very slow process.

DH also told me I was trying to get way too much done before baby boy arrives, so I prioritized my list to get 3 (and a half) big things done before baby is here: 1)Pack hospital/diaper bags; 2)Set up PnP in our room with bassinet attached and changing supplies stocked; 3) Move pics and photo software to my new computer, so I can clear the camera and my phone; and 3.5)Finish the carseat! He thinks this is a much more reasonable list to focus on, so I'm hoping that means I'll get more help from him on getting these things done.

05-05-2011, 02:47 PM
Happy Belated Birthday, Poca! :)

Pookie - yay for head down, GBS negative, and a great appointment!

craft - the new car sounds awesome! I'm so jealous! We have a Chrysler Pacifica that we just can't justify trading in (roomy back seat, fits three across, *this close* to paying it off, low milage... ), so we are going to make do without a 3rd row. But oh, how I would love to have one!

jane - I have never had a NST, so I really don't understand - but the thought of getting one every week doesn't sound like fun! Hopefully the next 6 weeks fly by for you... well, slow enough that you get your to-do's done!

tgr - that sounds like a really manageable list! Hopefully you can get it all done. I packed my bag a couple days ago, and I was surprised at how quickly I could do it. I guess having done this twice before makes it a little easier. :)

AFM - had my 39w appointment yesterday, and all looks good! Baby is still rolled over onto my right side, but no one is concerned. He is not facing the front, and that is all they are concerned about, really. Blood pressure good, h/b normal, measuring right on target, and I have lost a couple pounds. All of a sudden my belly feels a little smaller, and my back isn't as sore - he must have dropped even more! He is so low that I can no longer feel the lower movements from the outside, and his regular movements are definitely changing. My midwife doesn't think I will make it the full week I have left until my due date, but we will see. The kids are starting to get excited, and I have spent some time with them looking over their baby pictures and little videos we took after delivery. The look of shock on DS's face when he heard himself crying was pretty cool. :) I'm also trying to prepare DD for the fact that she will have to share mama's milk with her baby brother, and I'm not sure she quite comprehends.

nuhmah - for the NST they measure the baby's heartrate in response to activity (they want to see it go up when the baby is active). It generally takes 20-30 min but yesterday mine took about 45min b/c he just wasn't active enough. And then every few weeks they will do an u/s too (like yesterday - the appt lasted 90min and it's a 20min drive each way). I can't take the kids with me it's a pain to go weekly b/c I have to make sure I can schedule it for when DH can be home (no kids under 8 in the office without another adult there). I had NSTs with my first two but those were always unscheduled. My BP would be high at an OB appt so they'd send to the hospital for the NST. So I do appreciate the predictability of having it regularly scheduled.

tgr - That sounds like a manageable list! I wish mine was that small! DH think that we still have PLENTY of time (I am 35 weeks - DD came at 38) - add to the fact that he has picked up some temporary work (good) and the weather is starting to get nice (nice weather + farm = lots of work)..... I have visions of this kid coming and not even having the bassinet at our house yet!

nuhmah - sounds promising! I noticed I lost ~2 pounds this week too - seems early to me (35 weeks) but who knows!

craft - nice new car! We have a Kia Rondo (3rd row) and though we don't use it that often it has been so nice to have! Unfortunately it is a SMALL backseat .... so I imagine I will be the only one to make it back there with the 2 car seats in the middle row now!

AFM - 35 weeks. I had a chiro appointment on Monday and she said the baby has lots of room in there.... so I am wondering if it's a small baby (M/W said she could feel a little head and I didn't clarify if it was feeling like a little baby, or just a baby head!). But the M/W was able to release a lot of muscles and my hips are feeling better. I have instructions from both M/W and Chiro to spend as much time on my hands and knees as I can because the baby is posterior (facing out).

Friend is coming over this weekend to give me a pedicure! And the rest of the weekend I hope to be doing laundry (baby) and tidying the house.

Thanks, nuhmah and lil_geek! The list I posted here is really paired down. My full list is probably three times as long with each item having multiple steps. I think that list was severely overwhelming DH. Of course, it's all still on my mind! ;)

nuhmah~Yay for baby dropping! I haven't lost anything, but I haven't officially gained anything in the last 3 appts either.

lil_geek~Glad the chiro helped with the hip pain.

AFM~Baby's movements have really slowed/changed over the last few days, and my hips are killing me! I also started having lots of menstrual like cramps yesterday. I'm still sitting on the ball as much as I can.

MIL bought a bunch of seeds and starter plants and has requested that DD come over and help her plant tomorrow. DD loves gardening, so I'll be sending her over! A lot of times when DD goes over, MIL will take DS too. This should give me lots of time to work on my big list (focusing on those things I posted earlier).

Also, I finally decided on a coming home outfit. It's one of them I picked up at Target several weeks ago. It's a navy trimmed, navy/white striped onsie with a bright green frog on it and navy pants. I think I may go back and pick up a pair of matching socks. If not, I'll just put him in plain white. Here's a link (http://www.target.com/Newborn-Boys-JUST-Carter-Bodysuit/dp/B004FN8TOC/ref=br_1_5?ie=UTF8&id=Newborn%20Boys%20JUST%20Carter%20Bodysuit&node=2382508011&searchSize=30&searchView=grid3&searchPage=2&sr=1-5&qid=1304695887&rh=target_com_category-bin%3ABasic%20Bodysuits&searchBinNameList=target_com_category-bin%2Cstyle_name%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_primary_colo r-bin%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin%2Ctarget_com_character-bin&searchRank=pmrank&frombrowse=1) to the bodysuit.

It sounds like we have a lot of people getting really close! Can't wait to start welcoming more little ones!

05-06-2011, 08:40 AM
lilgeek-Glad the chiro was able to help. I went with my first DD and it really helped my back pain!

Jane-I'm having those same NSTs, too, and it's a pain to schedule them when you have other kids to worry about.

nuhma-Sounds like you are getting VERY close. How exciting!!

tgr-I think your list sounds very manageable. I had a crazy list, too, of things I wanted done around the house and this past week I decided it was impossible to get it all done. Oh, well!

craft-Congrats on the new car!

AFM-Had another NST yesterday and I'm still having irregular contractions that are registering on the monitor. My peri switched me to heparin in case I go into labor early (heparin leaves the bloodstream faster and is reversible, so I can get an epidural; on Lovenox, I wouldn't be able to get an epidural for 24 hours after my last shot). I left with the prescription and then suddenly had a bunch of questions-does she think I'll go into labor early b/c of my history and all of these contractions? Will they try to stop my labor if my water doesn't break first? My ob is off today, otherwise I would call her. I know both of my doctors want me to go to L&D if my contractions get any more painful or slightly more consistent, but the way it happened with DD, I had a ton of very irregular contractions and then my water broke. I'm just a little worried that this is a repeat of the first time and I really, really don't want to do another NICU stay. I need to make it another 3 to 3.5 weeks!!!

05-06-2011, 10:03 AM
ETA: Some point over the morning I majorly dropped! I was in the washroom at work this morning and wondered where my belly was! My co-workers confirmed that my belly is seriously lower then yesterday! I dropped about 2 weeks before DD was born so my fingers are crossed!

05-06-2011, 10:08 AM
still feeling some sporadic braxton hicks contractions. I'm still finding it to be a very novel/curious feeling. I guess I figured if I didn't get them with the first two I wouldn't with the third.

33w today! Hopefully soon my DH will try to fit the third carseat into the car. I may need to buy 1 more new carseat so we can't wait too long to tackle this. DH's work is throwing us a shower on the 23rd. So whatever money they collect may help buy the carseat, we don't need much else at this point. And it'll be fun to celebrate the new baby. We've only received gifts from 2 family members so far. Not that I expected much (or need much) for my third boy but it's still fun to celebrate the new baby with a few new things. And I do have things to buy - like the carseats and I'd like to replace the baby carrier my dog chewed up.

05-06-2011, 01:13 PM
Jane I find it so interesting that you never had BH with 1&2 and are now getting them. Pregnancy is strange.

lil_geek Yay for dropping!

linekelei Crossing my fingers your little one stays cooking a bit longer.

tgr68 Good luck with your to-do list!

craftgenius Congrats on the new car! We have a minivan and love having the extra room for passengers.

nuhma You are soooo close! How exciting :)

pookie Yippy for gbs -

AFM: My parents are out of town this weekend so I am betting money the baby comes despite going late the last two times. I'm slightly irritated with my mom about the whole thing but there is nothing I can do about it now. I will be 39 weeks on Tuesday and contracting like crazy.

My to-do list is considerably smaller after DD1's birthday party. The house is pretty clean and laundry is under control. It will never be 'done' but I can live with under control. I just need to hunt down our laser level and hang some artwork in little mister's room. DH agreed to clean out my car (it is embarrassingly filthy) and install the infant bucket this afternoon.

Question How much time are your DHs taking off after baby? In the past, my DH has taken off two weeks straight. This time, we are considering having him work during my hospital stay (obviously not the day of delivery!) and then when I am home, stay home a week in order to maximize the time he has at home. I really don't need him at the hospital and he works just down the street so he can stop in at lunch. Our plan is to have him take 4 day weeks for remainder of the summer so I would have a more even split of days with him home vs. being alone with the kids.

05-06-2011, 02:01 PM
my DH is planning to take a month off. He may try to get some work done from home here and there as he's able. Last time he was going to take a month off but it ended up being more staggered. He went back briefly and then took more time off when I had back surgery (4wks pp). But I think my sister was here with me on most of the days he worked (prior to the back surgery I was in no condition to be on my own). And then later in the summer he's going to take a week off so that we can go to the beach with some of his family.

05-06-2011, 02:33 PM
DH Time Off ~ His store got over staffed (which usually happens when the company is getting ready to open a new location), so he may only be scheduled 3-4 days a week instead of his usual 5-6. If that is the case he'll probably not tale any time off. If he gets a more normal schedule, he'll give away shifts for a couple of weeks to where he is only working 3-4 shifts for those first couple of weeks.

AFM~ Well I decided to more part of the yard this morning. It took 1-1.5 hours to get it done. It felt great to be doing something, but it resulted in an afternoon full of contractions. I think I may be mowing another section out two tomorrow. ;)

05-06-2011, 02:40 PM
My DH gets two weeks paid paternity leave, which I think will be plenty. My mom lives close and will help with my first DD, so I'm not too worried. DH got four weeks paid last time, but that's when he was an associate and not an in-house attorney.

05-06-2011, 05:41 PM
Sounds like we are all getting very, very ready with our last few projects, laundry, yard work (which I can't believe you are out doing Tgr! :) !!)

Happy Belated Birthday Poca! Hope you had a fabulous day :)

Congrats on the new car Craft!

Linekelei - Hope your contractions stop and that your little one stays put for awhile longer.

Petdoc - I would be annoyed with my parents as well for going out of town when you are so far along. My mom lives 3 hours away and that is bad enough.

Pookie - Great news about your GBS test :)

Lilgeek - Isn't it funny when your belly just isn't where it used to be?? Enjoy your pedi!!

Jane - That is so nice that your DH's work is throwing you a shower.

QOTD: DH's Time Off - We are both self employed so we get to do whatever we really want/need - all of our clients are extremely flexible which we are both very thankful for!

AFM - My hips hurt so darn bad today - it made getting in my car today quite a daunting chore (and quite a comical site for those who saw me). Even just walking around my office and getting in and out of my chair was a difficult task. But alas, I am determined not to whine out loud to anyone around me anymore. This whole business of feeling like a truck ran over me along with being grumpy just isn't working for me! I will be curious to see if I have dilated anymore at my appt on Monday. It feels like baby boy is right there and he gets to pushing down that it makes walking quite difficult.

We have been working on little projects around the house and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the Murphy bed will be completed this weekend. Other than that, I have been sewing blankets and am planning on finishing a car seat cover tonight. The last thing I wanted to finish was the quilt but I am not digging the backing fabric I picked out so I might hold off on that for a bit.

We also want to get our garden planted this weekend. DD has been chomping at the bit to get her seeds in the ground :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

05-06-2011, 07:42 PM
DH's time off: We talked about this today. We're going to take it day by day and see how things go. Since DH took off basically 2 weeks for DD's surgery, he's not too keen on taking too much more. He's already in the hole for vacation time. He works from home so he'll be here anyway and he can take days off here and there when we want/need. Also my mom will be here through the middle of June so that will be a big help.

05-06-2011, 11:19 PM
DH's time off - My DH will take off while I'm in the hospital, but he will likely have to go in for a few hours at some point during the day...which is fine with me. My mom will be sleeping at my house and getting DD off the school each day I'm in the hospital but will likely come to the hospital each day while DD is at school...so if DH leaves to go to work while I'm in the hospital at least my mom will be there. After I get home DH may be home for 1 day but will go back to work probably the next day. Again my mom will be with us for probably a few weeks...thank God my mom is retired.

AFM - I'm on the countdown! Just 5 days! I've been feeling really good the past week. There is still a lot I/we need to do around the house, but if it doesn't get done, oh well ! I'm not gonna stress about it. But I do hope DH will go ahead and move the doggone crib back into our room!! He is SO SLOW! The swing is still in the box, bouncer is still in the box, car seat is still in the box and diaper champ is still in the box. Tomorrow we are going to my inlaws' house for a big family get together. DH has a big family (he has 5 siblings), so the get togethers are always pretty fun. We're just going down for the day but it should be a good time.

Meanwhile I've been stressing a bit about the whole Mississippi River situation here in Louisiana. We're on disaster alert here because the river is predicted to reach potential flood stages not seen in Louisiana since the 1920's. Kinda scary! My mom's hometown which is 80 miles away from my house is REALLY in a big predicament from what I understand. We are actually considering moving some of mom's furniture to a storage unit here just in case she floods. They are predicting the levels to peak in about 2 weeks...so I'll be home with a new baby wondering if we are gonna have to evacuate. :(

05-07-2011, 06:50 AM
DS is here!! My water broke at 1am Fri. morning so I had him by c-section at 5am. Totally took us by surprise but we are doing fine. He wasn't so big after all- 8 lbs 10 oz.

05-07-2011, 07:12 AM
Congrats Countrymouse!!!!

It's about to get crazy in this thread!

05-07-2011, 07:35 AM
Congrats CountryMouse!! Glad you are both doing well :)

Craft- So sorry about the threat of the flooding - that is really the last thing you need to worry about right now. Your DH sounds like mine, just takes his own sweet time....don't they understand we gotta nest???

05-07-2011, 08:02 AM
Congrats countrymouse!!!!

05-07-2011, 12:35 PM
Congrats countrymouse!!! Great size!

05-07-2011, 12:41 PM
Congrats, countrymouse!!!

05-07-2011, 05:15 PM
Congratulations countrymouse!

05-08-2011, 07:12 AM
Wow! Congrats Countrymouse!!!!

05-08-2011, 08:13 PM
Okay, my husband is not complying with my need to nest. The two things really left on my list are making a list / packing my hospital bag and hanging the art in the baby's room. The last two weekends I've told DH the art needs to be hung. He swore it would get done last weekend. Brought it up this weekend. It's Sunday evening and not done. He's going out of town Wednesday for work and if they aren't hung then, I'm doing it myself. I did every single other thing on the list and this is the one thing I need him to do!

I can tell you he will be helping me clean the house before my mom comes.

05-08-2011, 08:57 PM
My 38 week appt is tomorrow morning, and I WILL be asking the dr to check me this week. I was up a good chunk of the night with contractions, and they've continue most of the day today with some REALLY uncomfortable ones tonight after our walk. I told DH it may be wishful thinking, but I will really be surprised if I make it through this weekend.

05-08-2011, 09:23 PM
PookiePrincess - I feel your pain! My hubby STILL has not moved the crib back into out room and gotten the front rail out of the attic to install it! I asked him today, "when are you gonna get the crib set up?" and he said, "I wanna shampoo the carpet first." ...blankstare... Umm hubby we only have 2 days left! Mind you he was OFF on Friday and made last minute plans to go FISHING when he should have spent that time with the crib and putting together the new swing & bouncer...but fishing was way more important I guess. *rolls eyes* Can you tell that I'm annoyed? Today while he was chilling on the couch I decided to put up the pack & play which was all folded up. So me and my big belly are on the floor struggling with this thing...I haven't put it together in over 3 years so I kinda forgot how it works...and he is just watching me! So I say, "I could use some help!" He finally got up & finished...but GEEZ!

05-09-2011, 04:11 AM
there are now 3 carseats in my car! eek! that's going to take some getting used to. Especially once all 3 are occupied! we were able to make it work with only 1 new carseat so it's been very cost effective. And I was worried that it would be difficult to do the buckles on the middle child but I can reach it quite easily, even with my big belly.

We pulled out the swing and set it up. I think I know where the bouncy seat is so I just need to dig it up. We still need to clean up the guestroom (it's a guestroom/office so it's become very cluttered with DH's stuff) for my Mom. I think I'm going to ask her if I can put the pack n play in there. I don't expect to use it much, I never did with the first two. But that would give us a quiet (and safe from the big kids) spot downstairs to set it up.

tgr - I hope the dr checks and there's been progress! good luck!

pookie & craft - I'm sorry your DH's are not getting things done yet. how frustrating.

I go to the MFM tomorrow for another NST and then the OB on Wednesday. My BP has gone up a little for the past week but it's still within the normal range. I suppose I wouldn't be surprised if it managed to creep up more as I get closer to the end, even with the medication. After tomorrow's OB appt the rest are all scheduled with the Dr scheduled to do my c/s. So that will be nice - the consistancy and chance to get to know her better (she's been with the practice for my previous pregnancies but I've never had many appts with her).

05-09-2011, 07:05 AM
Lots of action in this thread over the weekend!!

Jo&Sean - We just put a murphy bed in our office! LOVE it! And I hear you on the hip pain - I look like I am 80! However I have been complaining as much as I can ;)

Craft - That is scary. How far are you from the river? Any chance your mom coming to stay with you (would that be a good thing)?

Pookie - I hear you!! DH was supposed to help in the house ALL weekend. Saturday I got clothes brought down to launder. Sunday he helped till about 1. Ugh!

QOTD: DH's Time Off - Unfortunately DH is still out of work (Since March 1). My prediction is that he will get a job offer and his first day - the baby will show up ;) But I guess it has an advantage of him being off till he finds a job.

AFM: Well - I managed to do a ton of laundry. DH did get the crib put together, car seat is out. So in the most bare of 'needs' the baby could show up and we would make due. However the house looks like a bomb went off and I am so limited in what I can do (and carry - can't carry laundry up and down our 1800's house stairs). I have actually been having less contractions in the last 2 weeks. And by my estimation.... cervix is high, firm and closed :( So as much as I would love this kid to come soon - I think I am a long way off! We have a M/W appointment tomorrow but it isn't practice to check until you are in labour.

05-09-2011, 11:04 AM
Quick update from my phone:
I ended up seeing the midwife today. She checked me and said that my cervix was really high. I'm externally dilated to 4cm and internally still at 1cm. She recommended Tylenol PM to help me get some rest tonight, and I scheduled an appt for next Monday although she doesn't think I'll need it.

After our appt, we went to the hospital for a quick tour, and the nurse on duty was awesome! They have a labor tub, shower, and birthing balls for use. They also have a wireless general monitoring system so that I'm free to move around during labor. The mise also said they are very open to what the patient wants as long as both mom and baby are safe, very pro birth plan, low intervention, and pride themselves on being the only pro VBAC hospital in the area. In the event where a emergency c/s would be needed they have a dedicated OR inside the maternity wing.

All in all, it was an awesome appt and tour. I need to get one more piece of paperwork ready and them I'm 100% ready to go, which is really good because I have not stopped contracting all day.

05-09-2011, 11:54 AM
Pookie - Did your DH help you hang up the art?? Why don't men understand our need to be prepared? Isn't that what Boy Scouts is supposed to teach them?? LOL

Craft - My DH was making plans to go fishing three hours away for next week...needless to say, he cancelled them. Men...lol!

Tgr - Sounds like you are getting very close! Glad you had a hospital tour and were happy with what they offer :)

Lil Geek - I was wondering if you got your murphy done. Mine is still just the box on the wall and the matress leaning against the other wall. Grrr. DH promises it will be done.

AFM - Had my weekly appt today and nothing has changed since last week (still dilated 1 cm and 80% effaced) despite feeling like the baby is pushing down hard. I had the GBS today too. My doctor & nurse were both super g.r.u.m.p.y - not sure what was going on but neither are like that. At least my appointment was quick today - in and out in 20 minutes unlike the 2 hours last time. Next appt is next Monday (5/16).

I finished my "nesting" projects this weekend but DH still has not finished his. Hoping he gets his hiney in gear! I want to get our office/guest room put back together and get the changing table moved inside. I am really wishing I could be done working but need to finish up some projects this week...ugh.

05-09-2011, 01:19 PM
My SO's are a little out of order....

Jo. Sorry your doctor and nurse weren't in the greatest of moods but yay for a little progress :). Good for you for getting your nesting projects done. Hopefully your DH will get his butt in gear.
tgr. What us internally versus externally? Not sure I've ever heard that! Glad you had a wonderful hospital tour. My hospital also has an OR in the maternity ward so I know how comforting that is in case of emergency. Hope you go into labor soon!
Tara. Glad you got so much done. It feels good to be so "accomplished" in house chores. Maybe your MW will check you if you ask her? I mean, you have a history of early labor so why not? Good luck at your appt!
Jane. I also just installed the infant base in our truck on Friday and I'm getting it checked on Wednesday. We are also doing 3 across but our 2nd row is so big it's not very cramped. We just have no more seats! Lol. Well, unless we put up the 3rd row. Good luck at your NST tomorrow.
Kristi. Sorry your DH isn't complying with this honey-do list. Hopefully he will get his butt in gear and hang the art this week.
Craft. Sorry you have to worry about flooding with a new baby at home. That seems really scary and stressful. And hopefully your DH will set up that darn crib already! I mean, you are having a baby in a few short days! Ugh.
DH time off. He is pretty much his own boss so he can be home for as long as I need him. Realistically he will be home for about a month but may need to work from home a bit or run to a meeting here and there. But for the most part he will be home with me.

AFM. At my 38 week appt last week (38w2d) I was 3cm and 80% effaced. I have another appt tomorrow (39w2d) and my BH have been super strong and practically all day long the last week so I'm hoping for more progress. My MW offered to strip my membranes at this next appt but I'm going to decline. I may consider it if I'm still pregnant at my 40 week appt but we will see. I had them stripped with DS1 at 40 weeks (unbeknownst to me and I was barely 1cm) and it hurt like hell so I opted not to get them stripped with DS2. Idk...I'm very much in the mindset that I want my babies to come when they are good and ready not when I want them to.

Let's see....what else? I can't believe I am 39w1d!. That's just crazy to me but also it feels like this baby is never coming. I just can't comprehend it. I love the surprise and suspense of it all but I have to admit I'm a little scared. Lol. Mostly of going into labor at home while DH is at work bc my labors always start off at super-speed and I'm anxious to know how this labor and delivery will go. I'm also excited to finally find out my little girls birthdate and see her precious face. Not to mention I'm pretty uncomfortable. Sometimes it hurts to walk, I can't bend down at all without feeling like I may pop a rib out of place with her butt, turning over in bed is such a challenge bc it feels like I have a 40 pound weight on my stomach and my pubic bone hurts. Fun times. Haha

Also, DH and I DTD last night and not only was it so uncomfortable and awkward but DH said he almost pulled a hammy. OMG. LOL. Then he says, "Well, I guess that will be the last time we do that!". I didn't want to do it to begin with so I'm fine with it. Haha. Sorry for the TMI but I thought it was funny.

Had an awesome weekend. Saturday I got my hair trimmed and got a mani/pedi. Then I came home and we took the boys to the park then decided to go to lunch at our local spot. Ater lunch we walked to the beach (right behind the restaurant) and the boys played in the sand/water for an hour and a half while DH and I laid in a hammock. It was heavenly. Afterwards we came home, put the boys down for a nap and I took an hour and half nao myself! Then Sunday DH got up with the boys so I could sleep in then we all got ready and went to brunch. It was amazing! I usually hate buffets (they remind me of troughs) but brunch buffets I can handle and only at certain places. I ate way too much! I didn't eat again until almost 7! Lol. Then we went to my SIL's so the boys could play then to my nephews soccer game. Benjamin was being a monster so we left and put both boys down for a nap. I also napped and DH decided to clean out the garage (something he's been wanting to do for months but it's been too cold or we've been too busy) which took 3 hours! But it looks awesome. We also put Grace's wall decal above her crib (which was a freaking nightmare BtW but it looks beautiful!). I'll post a pic from my phone once I'm done with this post.

I think that's about it. I installed the carseat base in our truck on Friday and I'm getting it checked on Wednesday. I'm excited to see what progress (if any) I've made the past week. My appt is at 10am tomorrow. I'm going to get some laundry done (God it never ends!) and start dinner so I better get off here.

I do have some minor things to do but mostly just decor for baby's room. My bag is packed, the boys' bag is packed, everything is washed and put away and carseat is installed! Now we just need a baby :p

bensgirl~I had never heard of it either. The midwife explained it to me as the part of the cervix closest to the baby's head is dilated to 1cm and the part of the cervix closest to the vagina is dilated at 4cm. Basically, I'm dilating in a V where the "external" part of my cervix is more open than the "internal" part.

bensgirl - I have to applaud you for even attempting to DTD...there is no way that is happening here until after this baby is born! LOL And I LOVE the wal decal...beautiful !

Lil_geek - I live about 6 miles from the river. We are on flood alert here too, but my mom lives 80 miles away from me in a river town as well, and her town supposedly is in more danger than mine. DH went to her house on Saturday and got some of her furniture and put it in storage here for the month. We've got our fingers crossed because mom has no flood insurance because she didn't need it as she is not in a flood zone. My God I hope everything turns out OK...my mom has a pretty nice house that is paid for. :(

funny story - I rode to work today in the new vehicle. Keep in mind that I'm used to driving a small car but this new crossover is much wider than my Corolla. When I got to my car at the end of the day to go home, someone had parked really close to me in the garage and I couldn't get in the car because of my BIG BELLY!!!!! The door wouldn't open wide enough!!!! I tried all four doors...and was considering trying the rear hatch until I tried again getting in by the rear passenger side door. I was able to SQUEEZE myself in and I had to climb into the front. hahahahaha!!

05-09-2011, 06:50 PM
Forgot to mention - I am starting to get really uncomfortable. I'm not sleeping well, I'm getting heartburn, and everytime I stand up it feels like the baby is jabbing his head into my V-jay-jay!! I only have 2 days left thank goodness.

05-09-2011, 07:17 PM
Craft. Oh believe me...I didnt even want to attemp it. But DH was being all sweet and calling me sexy (yeah right! As sexy as a cow maybe ;) ) so I just thought I'd "take one for the team". LOL! I was hoping it would put me into labor. Never again! Well, not until after the baby anyway.

That is hysterical! I also went from a Corolla to a Toyota Sequoia so I understand. At least you got in. And I'm so jealous your meeting your baby soon. Ahhh! Hopefully I'm next.

Oh and I know what you mean about baby head-butting your vajayjay. Lol. Lately it feels more like she is scratching at my urethra! It hurts so bad. I've noticed her moving a ton the last few days too. Hopefully she is just burrowing down in there.

05-10-2011, 09:20 AM
had an NST and a quick u/s today. everything is fine. my fluid levels are on the upper end of normal, which isn't dangerous - just makes me bigger, heavier and more uncomfortable.

taking the kids to the circus tomorrow, I can't wait!

05-10-2011, 11:18 AM
Craft - that is horrible. Hopefully the water slows down.

Bens - You are too funny!

Jane&Andy - glad everything is fine

AFM - 36 week midwife appointment today. We took DD (3.5) with us - she was in heaven, helped to take my BP (still nice and low! YEAH!) and to hear the baby's heartbeat. She also found a dr's kit in the toybox in the exam room and spent the entire time checking our ears, throat, giving needles etc. Did the GBS swab and the midwife did offer to check - but I declined until next week at least.

This is sad - I am 36 weeks and feeling the best I have this entire pregnancy! Turning over in bed and general 'standing up' is painful in my hips. But I feel so decent I am now betting this kid will be late!

I took a vacay day to organize/put laundry away. DH was supposed to help - but the sun in shining and he is driving tractor for his uncles. Good $$ but bad timing - the next few weeks look nice and sunny! I DID get the infant base in my car. Gosh I hate those things - they take up more space then DD's marathon did rear facing!

05-10-2011, 11:54 AM

So I had a MW appt today. Very uneventful. Still 3cm, 80% effaced, baby is still pretty high and cervix is still posterior. Grrr! This baby is never coming.

Hi ladies- I got home from the hospital yesterday afternoon and am still trying to get settled. My c-section was scheduled for today...hard to believe DS is already 5 days old! I had such a great experience at the hospital and they offered to let me stay until today, but I didn't sleep well there and was pretty much ready to get home. My mom is staying with us and has been a lifesaver. DS1 has been either in school or with a grandmother, so I don't have to do a lot for him right now which is good because I am exhausted. Baby did not sleep well last night and we're trying to get organized and settled.

The c-section pain is manageable as long as I don't overdo it. I'm taking the prescription meds but hope to wean off of them in the next day or so. Oh, and the pooping issue was pretty bad today, despite taking lots of stool softeners. I'm hoping the worst is over.

Good luck to those of you who are close to delivery! I am so in love with this new baby and despite the unplanned water breaking/contractions, it was a great experience and I'm glad I went through it.

Quick mucus plug question (sorry in advance for any grossness or TMI)...

I was in the bathtub and noticed something floating in the water. I picked it up and it looked like a hard, dried out booger. I always thought the MP was supposed to be more gooey/snotty feeling, as it was with DS1, but this thing was the right color and everything. I know it wasn't something that was left from the previous person's bath because I do a quick rinse of the tub before I fill it. Thoughts? It's okay to say I'm an over-anxious crazy pg woman. :p

Just getting back in town from going home for Mother's Day and introducing DD to my family...so I know I have missed a ton. Answering the above after the fact I know, but like JO...my DH has his own business and can work from home. So he was able to stay with me at the hospital each night. (He did for DS too even though I know that bed in my post-partum room isn't the most comfortable. LOL) He had to leave once for an appt. w/a client during my stay with DS. And this time with DD he had to leave once for a meeting. But was there all the rest of the time. He is normally home 3 days a week and has a schedule worked out with his mom to be here 2 days a week...that's why DS doesn't have to go to daycare since someone is always here with him. It has been a huge blessing because my family is 400 miles away...and can't really come down and help out.

CRAFT: We need a new car too and are planning to buy one over the summer. My cousin is a car dealer and has already told us to come down and look around. So I may check out the one you got. My DH keeps showing me this Lincoln (or maybe it's a Buick...I dunno. Can't remember 'cuz I've only ever driven foreign cars). Right now 2 car seats fit fine in our BMW because it's a 7 series...I know it'd be rough if it was a smaller version. But we are getting rid of that car (it's a 2001...10 years old!) And I keep going back and forth on being a "mini-van" mom. :p

COUNTRYMOUSE...CONGRATS! Close to 9 pounds...that's a healthy baby!! Can't wait to see who's next! :)

05-11-2011, 05:16 AM
tgr- Doesn't sound like your MP. I've lost mine with every pregnancy (this pregnancy I've been losing it for 6 weeks!) and it's more like someone blew their nose. Pretty much the same exact thing. It's gross. Lol

05-11-2011, 05:26 AM
Well, I had my boy!! :) When I posted last week that I had weight loss and dropping, I was closer than I thought! Contractions started Friday afternoon, and were 20 minutes apart until about midnight when they went to 10 minutes. They stayed that way all day Saturday, and when they finally went to 6-8 minutes apart we called the midwife. After all that, I only ended up being 3cm, and by Sunday morning (and spending the night at the birth center) I was a stretchy 5cm with a bulging bag of water. I decided to go home and get some rest, and contractions stayed steady at exactly 10 minutes apart the entire day. At 5pm, my water broke, and all of a sudden I was in real labor. We barely made it back to the birth cottage before he was born - within about 10 minutes of arrival!

We named him Thomas David, and he was born on Mother's Day at 7:04pm. He weighed 9lbs and was 22 1/4" long. We were home by 10:30 that night, and then went to bed. We are doing really well, and he looks exactly like his big brother. I will be back later with some pics - right now I am posting from my phone.

05-11-2011, 05:39 AM
Congratulations nuhmah!!!

05-11-2011, 06:38 AM
Congratulations nuhmah!!

tgr: No, doesn't sound like it to me. With DD I lost my entire mucous plug at once and it seriously looked like a golf-ball sized ball of snot. Hang in there, I know you're having lots of contractions.

bensgirl: 3 cm is nothing to scoff about! Just remember, there may have been no change, but you can still have a baby any day!

countrymouse: Glad things are going well!

05-11-2011, 09:08 AM
Thanks ladies for the feedback on the MP. It didn't quite look right to me, but I had to ask.

Congrats, nuhmah!!! What a great Mother's Day gift! :D Can't wait to see pics!

AFM~Last night was night 4 of little to no sleep for me. I am so beyond exhausted that I'm physically shakey. :( I swear, girls, I was never this worn out and crabby with my other two. I really think it's the lack of sleep that's effecting my mood so drastically.

05-11-2011, 09:54 AM
Congrats Nuhmah! Guess I got my answer to who's next? LOL

05-11-2011, 11:51 AM
Congrats Nuhmah!! Sounds like your birth experience was wonderful :)

Tgr - So sorry you have not been able to sleep. I hope you have this baby soon!! I know when I wasn't able to sleep for about a week there my mood & emotions were all over the place. Hang in there.

Countrymouse - Glad you made it home. Sounds like you are doing well :)

My bet is that Tgr & BensGirl are next :) At least I am sending positive "labor" vibes their way. (Although, I wouldn't mind being next myself...lol)

AFM - Can a person's hips hurt any worse?? That is my complaint of the day as it has been every day for oh the past ??? (lost track of how long!) Thank goodness my DH is so incredibly nice and patient. DD is another story though. Last night, she told the baby that he should hurry up and get here because she is "tired of hearing our mommy complain about hurting all the time!". Lol.

05-11-2011, 12:02 PM
Congrats Nuhmah!

I am getting so jealous of all the new babies. I am so ready to meet my new little mister. I went to 41.5 days with DD#2 and was induced at 41.1 with DD#1 so I am not anticipating going early but boy, would it be nice!!

Work threw me a surprise 'sprinkle' on Monday. I was shocked and very much touched. I have only been there 4 months and I only work 1.5 days a week. It was really sweet of them. I got a ton of boy clothes and essentials in blue. Little mister won't have to use pink washclothes anymore :)

I had my 39 week checkup yesterday. I am dilated to 2 almost 3 and I had her do a membrane sweep. Nothing happened from that but hey, it was worth a shot!

Good luck to everyone. We are all so close.

36 weeks - I dropped even more over the course of yesterday (it may not look like much - but keep in mind I am 5'1" so until about 3 weeks ago my boobs and belly were all one big 'bump'!

05-11-2011, 12:53 PM
Caleb is here!! He was born this morning at 8:45AM...19.5 inches long and 6 lbs 10.8 oz. I
Had a scheduled c-section...once the doctor got in she was shocked at how much scar tissue I had. They had a hard time getting through all the tissue and ended having to call in a general surgeon to operate on my small intestine. This took quite a while and I was so upset. The doctor said she was shocked that I was even able to get pregnant. They sedated me so I am STILL a bit groggy and legs are still quite numb. Baby is doing good and is as cute as he can be. :-) I'll post a pic when I get a chance.

05-11-2011, 01:09 PM
Congrats to you nuhmah!!! How exciting :)

Jo Ugh! I hope you're right! I'm so beyond ready.
Pookie I know 3cm is good but the fact that I've had no change since last week was a little discouraging. But I know labor can start at any second so I shouldnt be discouraged ;)
petdoc Yay for a surprise sprinkle! That was so nice of them.
Tara Oh so cute! I'm thinking you have a boy in there bc if I remember correctly your belly with DD didn't jut-out in the front as much.
Craft I thought about you today! Congrats on your little guy. But OMG I'm so sorry about the complications but thank God they were able to fix everything. Get some rest.

AFM I'm in so much pain today. My pubic bone feels like its going to literally split in two! It hurts so bad. I'm thinking baby girl dropped or something bc suddenly I feel like belly is just hanging and casuing alot of pain. I'm just so beyond ready at this point. Not only that my friend Erin (who lives in FL) just had her 2nd baby boy today. She was due last Thursday and induced today. I'm feeling sad bc I cant visit her and also a little jealous bc I want to have my baby. I also had an emotional breakdown today with my 3 year old and I feel awful about it. I knew he was tired but kept refusing his nap. I started yelling at him to take a nap so he went in his room and cried for me. I felt like a terrible person and went in and laid with him and we both fell asleep. I just love my little boys to death and I hate it when I lose my temper over something so trivial but right now I'm just not in a good mood and his defiance lately just put me over the edge.

05-11-2011, 02:38 PM
Congratulations Nuhmuh and Craft!

05-11-2011, 02:49 PM
Congrats, Craft!!!!! :D

05-11-2011, 03:22 PM
Congratulations craftgenuis!!! Welcome Caleb!

05-11-2011, 03:51 PM
Congrats craft and nuhmah!!!

05-11-2011, 05:29 PM
YAY CRAFT! I saw Caleb's pic on Facebook...oh the cheeks on that lil' guy! :) I see your second was bigger than your first just like mine! IIRC, your DD was as little as my DS and Caleb was in the same pound range as Larissa. She was 19.5 too! Sorry about the scar tissue...I was full well expecting them to read me the riot act about having a lot of scar tissue also from my myomectomy and last c/s. Surprisingly, they didn't say anything. Take care of yourself and don't over do it!

05-11-2011, 08:42 PM
Went to a friend's high school graduation tonight, and a ton of people told me I had noticeably dropped. Of course, just as many said they were shocked to see me there at all. The graduate was so excited though that I came since I initially told her weeks ago that I may not be able to make it.

05-12-2011, 04:28 AM
Congratulations craft!

bensgirl - I'm not holding up as well with my kids as I'd like to. Yesterday my 5yr old kept yelling everytime his brother bothered him and I kept telling him to use his words and talk to him. I couldn't believe he was yelling so much and then I realized that he must be picking it up from me. I'm so tired and crabby, I'm yelling too much. I'm going on an antidepressant just as fast as I can after I have this baby. Everyone around me will be happier then.

05-12-2011, 05:24 AM
Jane- I know the feeling all too well. My older DS is just so high-energy, so demanding, becoming increasingly defiant, back-talking and he's SO LOUD all the time. I feel like he's always making a mess or needing something so I've been practically forcing him to take a nap bc I need a gosh darn break from him. Ugh! I love him dearly and he's such a sweet lovable little boy but he wears me out. We watch alot of TV around here bc that the only thing that keeps him sitting still. I mean, he will literally run laps in our family room. Not sure where he gets the energy but it's exhausting. The little one is much more laid back and plays quiet. I'm sure it seems like he's "my favorite" but we just get along better. Lol. I mean, as I'm sitting here DS is watching Mickey Mouse but all of a sudden he feels the need to just yell out as loud as he can for no reason. It's only 8:30 and I'm already annoyed. Ugh!

Oh and I already have a script for Zoloft that my MW gave me last week for after I have the baby. Everyone will be much happier with me on it.

05-12-2011, 05:33 AM
Bensgirl & Jane I am right there with you ladies. My girls are driving me up the wall! I was telling DH that it has to be some kind of instinctual response in me that is making their behavior more annoying than usual - like when a mama duck kicks her babies out of the nest to make room for new eggs. Not that I would kick my 3 and 5 year old out :p but wow am I short tempered with them. It is my youngest that is the most grating. She just realized she has 'options' and has been pushing her boundaries like crazy. Her first response is 'NO!' and it doesn't matter if I am asking her to put on her shoes or if she wants a cookie. She just needs to be defiant. yuck.

05-12-2011, 05:42 AM
Yeah I mean and then I feel bad for yelling at him or talking "smack" about him (lol) when he comes over to me and just wants to cuddle. I love that! I love it when he cuddles and picks me random flowers whenever we go places or wants to "hug" baby Grace or whatever. But he can go from that to completely defiant in less than 30 seconds and my tolerance can go from "Awww my sweet boy" to "go to your room!!!" in about the same amount of time. I'm just done being pregnant. Grumpy and sore and just overall ready for my "vacation".

On that note...DH wants to leave the hospital ASAP but I tried to convince him that I'm going to take full advantage. He said while he is home I can stay up in our bed with our new baby girl, watch our brand new flat screen, he will take full care of the boys and practically wait on me hand and foot :p. Sounds like a plan! Haha

05-12-2011, 06:00 AM
neither of my kids nap anymore so I never get a break til they go to bed. I'm exhausted and desperately want some time off. And this weekend it's supposed to rain all weekend and my DH will be off running a half marathon that's 90min away. Not sure what I'm going to do with these monkeys.

we went to the circus last night so the kids were up late. #1 was up at his usual 6:30 but #2 slept way late. He woke up while I was watching for the school bus at 8:45. I was really hoping he'd sleep just a bit longer and I could enjoy just 5 minutes without kids after the bus came. No such luck.

bensgirl - I was wondering where to go for the zoloft this time. I took it after Ben was born but it was several months after he was born so I went to my GP for it. I didn't know if I could get it from my OB. That would be easier than trying to deal with getting an appt from the GP in addition to all my MFM and OB appts.

05-12-2011, 06:20 AM
I'm right there with you other mommies of two. My DC's have been fighting like crazy, and I know I've been yelling more and more as of late. DD (6 in June) has been very mouthy. My tolerance/patience level has been pretty non-existent. :( Hoping these last few weeks fly by for all of us.

05-12-2011, 06:24 AM
yesterday I had a pounding headache by the time I sent #1 off to school, just from him yelling at his brother. Lucky for me he has school all 5 days this week. And DH's work load has finally lightened. yippee!

my kids are watching too much tv these days. I was so impressed by how little tv my niece and nephew watched when I visited them over Spring break. But they are 6 1/2 and 8 1/2. Instead of watching tv in the morning they read books or played on their Nintendo DS's. Those aren't really options for a 3 and 5yr old. I'm trying to cut down some though and play music for them instead sometimes. But I still need the tv in the mornings or I can't get dressed. Or get any sort of chores done since my 3yr old has stopped napping.

05-12-2011, 07:23 AM
Congratulations craft!

I sympathize with those who are home with their older children right now. DD and I would kill each other (we are WAY to much alike!). Thankfully she is still in daycare and I am still working.

Last night work had a surprise shower/dinner out for me! DH was in on it too. We went to a really cool Taapa's restaurant downtown. We got a gift certificate for the baby store in town. Great dinner. Then DH and I went to a coffee shop around the corner and had a drink and dessert. Got home to MIL and DD doing 'worksheets'. A VERY nice night out (likely our last even though our anniversary is Friday)

05-12-2011, 01:27 PM
Jane Oh yes you can absolutely get your meds from your OB. If you are worried about PPD I'd definately bring it up now. Ask them what their protocol is and go from there. Thats what I did with my MW. I told her that I had a history of PPD (mostly anxiety) and that I wanted to get it treated asap since I've been having similar feelings for the last few months already. I told her I felt like I didnt "enjoy" the first 6 months with DS2 bc I was so anxiety-ridden and angry all the time and I dont want to go thru that again. I got it treated WAY too late and wish I would have gone for help much sooner. She told me that they can start me on meds before I leave the hospital or they can fill me a script and I can get it filled whenever I feel like I need to that way I dont have to suffer or come back in to get it. I was very happy to hear that bc I've been thinking about it alot lately. I dont want to feel anxious. I dont want to feel angry. And I certainly dont want to feel hopeless (whish is exactly how I felt). I felt "trapped" almost and it sucked. Once I started my meds I was better able to deal with every situation without freaking out or crying or whatever and my motivation to do things turned up MAJORLY. I was so depressed that I just didnt have it in me to do laundry, make dinner, etc... Everything was all so overwhleming to even think about let alone do any of it. Good luck with that. It definately is NO fun.

Tara I think you hit the nail on the head! DS and I are alot alike so we butt heads about everything. So yes there are days when I think one of may NOT make it out alive but somehow we manage ;) LOL

05-12-2011, 02:03 PM
Congratulations, Craft!!! Welcome, Caleb!

Here is a picture of my new sweet baby boy
I still can't believe I delivered on Mother's Day! My water broke, I delivered a baby, and came home in less than 5 hours. Wowza!

Being home for recovery has been awesome, and frustrating all at the same time. My parents are here, and I really appreciate their help - but since they took over, our schedule and routine has been flushed down the toilet. Is it wrong that I can't wait for them to leave on Saturday? :P They have been great - my mom has taken over the grocery shopping and cooking, and my dad has been really helpful. But the kids want ME, and my parents don't exactly play with them. They take them to karate, with them to the grocery store, etc, but they expect my 4 & 2 year olds to amuse themselves for 12 hours a day, which doesn't exactly fly. They are bored to tears, and I can't say I blame them. I scheduled a playdate tomorrow morning with a friend, and that will get us out of the house for a couple of hours - hopefully that helps. DH went back to work on Wednesday, so at least he was home for a couple of days.

My milk is in with a vengeance! Thank goodness DD still nurses at naptime - she has been helping to keep the engorgement at bay, but I feel bad asking her to be my 'pump'.

05-12-2011, 03:00 PM
So cute, nuhmah!

Still here and still hanging in there. I've been trying to lots of natural induction methods to see if I can push through this "stalling out" I'm experiencing. I was able to get a decent nap in this afternoon, and since the temp here as dropped (from 90s/70s to 60s/40s) I'm hoping it'll help my sleep at night. I have a horrible time sleeping if I'm too hot, so getting that variable out of the picture is such a mental relief. :)

Need to go figure out something for dinner. I'm not really hungry, but DS keeps asking for cookies. Also, tonight is DH's last night of teaching for the semester, so I'll start having him home two additional nights this week!

05-12-2011, 08:41 PM
So adorable, nuhmah!

Like the rest of you, I have lost my patience with DD more times than I care to think about. I think I am a mean mommy right now. DD is always asking to go to my mom's house, which is kind of sad, but also a relief because I constantly feel like I need a break.

I had a peri appointment today and so far, it looks like the P17 shots are working. Despite me having a ton of contractions (5 alone on the monitor today in 20 minutes!), my cervix is still at a 3 and my fetal fibronectin test came back negative. Supposedly the P17 shots prevent contractions from actually shortening the cervix, so this is a good sign. I might actually make it to my induction date of June 15, which in my mind, would be crazy! :) Everything else looks fine with the baby-my placenta is still functioning normally, blood flow is good, and no blood clots that she could see. The only thing that's a bummer is that I had to switch to heparin and it's a twice a day shot which makes me bleed like crazy. It's also bruising up my stomach again, and leaving it feeling quite sore.

05-14-2011, 06:33 AM
nuhmah: So sweet!

linekelei: Glad everything is looking good. I hope that baby stays in for you!

AFM: I had some contractions yesterday evening. I've only ever felt pitocin induced contractions so it was weird having them on my own. I'll be interested to see if this is an evening trend or just occasional. I'm also interested to see if it did anything to my cervix. Guess I'll see on Monday! I also feel like the baby is pushing downward, so maybe that is why I'm also feeling contractions. I never had any of this with my DD, just a lost mucous plug and water breaking.

Nuhmah - You had the baby and 5 hours later you were at home?? Wow!! Did you have a midwife?

Bensgirl -congrats! So many new babies!! How are you and baby doing?

TGR - Hopefully by now you have your little one in your arms!

AFM - I'm still in the hospital! Been here since Wednesday and will probably be here till Monday. :-( I believe I mentioned that they had to do surgery on my small intestine which is why I'm still here. Just today they started me on a clear liquid diet...since Tuesday night I have only been eating ice chips!! I am DYING for some food! Caleb is doing great! He is so sweet and I'm totally in love! :-) My recovery has been ROUGH...way worse than my last pregnancy but Hubby has been so great!! Anyway...I'll keep you updated and post pics when I can...I don't know how to post pics to CC from my phone.

Congrats Bensgirl! Grace is the same weight as my DS! Glad you didn't go past your due date this time.

Also, may be TMI, but for those of us that are suffering from constipation, let me recommend my new best friend- Fleet glycerin suppositories. I was downing stool softeners like candy to no avail, and finally remembered I had a jar of these from when DS1 was constipated as an infant (per his doctor) so I tried one...heaven!! It works pretty quickly and more naturally than a chemical laxative. I only used them twice and now I think my issues are gone.

AFM, I'm doing well but my emotions are all over the place. It takes the littlest thing for me to cry. I know it's normal baby blues but I'm just ready to feel normal again! Overall I think my recovery has been easier than last time. I'm pretty much down to 1 or 2 pain pills a day. My boobs are killing me though- I feel like DS is going to chew my nipples off! I know that this too shall pass, but I cringe every time he starts rooting around for a feeding.

Keep the babies coming!!

My phone ate my post!

Basically after making some great progress, I stalled out. Baby was doing great, so I opted to go home. We'll see how I'm doing at my appt tomorrow.

ETA: Congrats, bensgirl!!!

that stinks tgr. I hope the dr has some good/hopeful news for you today.

I go back to the MFM tomorrow for another NST and u/s. Baby is less active the past few days but I suppose he is running out of room (34 1/2 wks now). He is measuring a week ahead and my fluid levels are high yet my belly still measures where it should so that sounds to me like a tight fit for him. My feet are horribly swollen. I got a much needed pedicure on Saturday. I hadn't had one in a very long time and my feet were atrocious. I'm wearing slippers around the house now to see if that helps them hurt less. I need to find some new ones though, more of an open style so that my feet don't get so hot and so that the slippers don't cut into my swollen feet (wearing the ballet style ones and the elastic leaves a dent in them).

as more baby gear gets dug out the kids are talking about the baby more. So yesterday I thought it was a good idea to start talking to them about how Mom and Dad will be at the hospital for a few days and Nana will stay with them. They both cried. Sadly, they are not too excited for Nana (my Mom) to come. But she hasn't been able to visit much in the past 2 years and when she has come she has not been in good shape (came right before getting back surgery and could barely walk at that point, had a horribly upset stomach for half of her visit in December and then she came for their birthdays but was recovering from having both knees replaced). So she hasn't been much fun for them and hasn't played with them. She won't ever be well enough to run around with them but hopefully will be in better shape this time and will be able to play with them more. I can send DH home as needed but I'll need his help too since I'm having a c/s - I can't lift the baby into bed with me at first.

We started talking to DD about that around the same time. And while she is very close to MIL (who she will stay with) she keeps telling us she wants to come with us because she will miss me and she will cry :( We keep trying to reiterate that it will be a short time (hopefully a day I will be in the hospital if that) and that she will get to see my parents too and maybe even my sister etc.

Do you have someone who can go over and lend a hand to Nana? Even a neighborhood 'tween' who can get them out and running around the yard?

no, we didn't really have anyone. DH's family is all somewhat nearby but not really close enough and they all have small children of their own and most work fulltime (one SIL stays home but has 3 kids 5 and under so somehow her coming with her kids doesn't really work to give my Mom a break). And we live on one side of DC and they are on the other so working around rush hour is a huge issue. But, I do have one SIL and BIL who have no kids (but live 2hrs away) who can hopefully come up on Saturday and give my Mom a hand. She'll have to get through Thurs and Fri on her own but my oldest will be in school both days.
