View Full Version : November 2005 Mommies! - Our first baby is here!!!
Getting stuff ready: I agree. I just need to get it done but on the other hand how am I supposed to if DH won't help and he is going to be gone for 3 weeks.
2nd Timers:Are you buying new nipples for your bottles or using the same ones?

Lindzee - I didn't meant to sound like you didn't want the best for your baby. Of course you do! I just wanted to point out that there could still be some problems even though our babies are technically done developing in there, you know? You definitely look like you dropped!
cramping & contractions & pain - I had to get up last night to pee at 1:45am and I had a terrible contraction I think. BH I guess. My belly was so tight and it was just uncomfortable. After I went back to bed I woke up at another point and I was laying on my back and I felt this excruciating pain up in my ribs. It went away as soon as I managed to roll over to my side, but boy did it hurt!!! Baby must have been poking her hand or foot up there or something. Ouch!!
Tomorrow I go to the doc's for my 35-36 week appointment. I know I am having my Group B Strep test. I wonder if she will also do an internal while she is down there?
I'm definitely looking forward to having the baby and no longer being pregnant, but I dont really want to have the baby until I'm 39 weeks. And at the same time I dont really want to go more than 1-2 days overdo either.

Kristen - Yeah, I knew what you meant. Good luck at your appointment tomorrow. That would be cool if they did an internal because you could see if you were actually making any progress!

Breast pumps- I officially have the preggo brain. In my last post I said my mom bought me a Playtex breast pump! Is there such a thing? I meant to say Evenflo. Isnt playtex tampons!! haha, Oh well! So does anyone know what you would use for storage for this pump?
Cramping-I too have had this symptom pretty bad for the last two weeks. I actually called the on call doctor Friday night cause I had this cramping along with contractions but I guess its pretty commom. Besides the woman in my child birth labor class came to the first class with only three weeks left till her due date and she was dilated 2cm and 50% effaced so she thought for sure she would go early! She ended up being induced four days after her due date so really there is no telling when our babies will make their appearance. I have a doc's appt tomorrow and I wouldnt be suprised if she told me my cervix is changing. I have been so uncomfortable but we will see. I wont get my hopes up thought my SIL was another one who was dilated 2cm for a month!! She went into labor four days late as well ugh! This week starts my weekly appts until the Kaylin is born so that is exciting!! I think it will help the time pass a little more quickly!
Dropping-I am not sure if I have dropped! I will post a picture soon and put up an older one to see. Its so hard to notice on yourself.
Packing bags-I too am going to get my packed by the end of this week and both of them in the car by next cause you never know...

Hi everyone... everything is about the same for me... Im getting more uncomfortable.. but thats about the only change.
can i just say... im a little bit green with envy that so many people are having labor symptoms... i havent had any contractions.. just BH as usual... I guess i shouldnt be surprised since it seems like everyone goes late in my family.. but still... id like to feel like i was getting somewhere!
Hawaii2SJ your pumpkin patch picture made me laugh out loud. Your dh is so funny :)
Sleeping i have had some better nights recently... but i guess everything is relative! i wake up about every hour at night now to pee... (like 6 times a night!) but at least i can fall back asleep each time. I can totally deal with that... its the nights where i am up in the middle of the night for 3 or 4 hours that kill me.
we are getting out carseats (well one car seat - two bases) inspected tonight! i will be glad to have that out of the way... they only do it once a week in our city...
we have a big week coming up.. breastfeeding class (finally) on saturday and then we are attending a pediatrician open house next monday...
today i am going to pick up loads of hand me downs from my sister.
I think ill start washing clothes sometime next week.
I havent pack our bags yet but i have a big list of everything i want to put in
them. hpoefully will get that done this weekend.

I have my dr appt this afternoon. Love them since I get to leave work early :D !
I feel like I've gotten huge these last 2 weeks so I'm a little nervous for that scale! I think I might be getting my Strep test today as well.
car seats We are getting ours as well as our base inspected on Sat too. I bought a base for my mom's car too, so I'm hoping she will be able to come as well and get hers checked out.
sleeping I'm still sleeping pretty well. I get up on average 2-3 times per night to go to the bathroom, but usually fall back to sleep w/o much of a problem thank goodness.
Hawaii and Lindzee Great belly shots! I took new pix over the weekend and will try and upload them later when I get home to post.
washing clothes I'm going to try and make a dent in the huge pile of clothes and blankets we have this weekend. I want to start washing as much as possible and putting it away in the closet.
Our furniture is coming tomorrow!!:D Can you tell I'm excited? I'm just so anxious to get the room all set up. After the furniture comes, I can put all the bedding on and then DH can start to hang things on the wall. Too bad my glider probably won't be here for another 4 weeks or so (if it's on time).
No real cramping yet...I do get BH contrax often, but they aren't painful.
Hope everyone is having a great day...and for everyone in the northeast...when will this RAIN ever stop!!!?

Hi Ladies! I am so glad to be able to post finally. The bleeding was so scary and so strange. I was in the middle of checking out books to 7th grade when I felt something kind of warm coming out of me ( I was sitting down behind a desk). But as we all know, pregnancy is filled with lovely stuff coming out of you ALL the time, so I wasn't concerned and only had about 2 minutes until the kids were leaving. Then I stood up to dismiss them and felt something like a huge bubble blowing up and then it burst. I thought for sure that my water had broken and I just looked at this one girl and said that she needed to tell her teacher that I wouldn't be taking the rest of her classes that day. When I ran into my back room to call Adam I looked at the ground and saw blood dripping on the floor. That is when I really freaked out. I was totally shaking and trying to call the doctor who told me to go to the nearest hospital immediately. The third grade teacher drove me and everything was happening really fast. I kept calling Adam on the cell and was just waiting for him to get there. When he finally walked in and I saw him I completely fell apart. I was so hysterical and I have literally never been so happy to see him. I was transferred to the best OB/GYN hospital in the city by ambulance (an interesting experience) and then was there for 2 nights. The baby was fine the whole time and was moving around like a champ. Needless to say, I am SO glad to be home!
It was literally heaven to get into a nightgown that covered my tush! Its the little things, right? I am allowed to move from my bed to the couch one time during the day and I can shower once a day, too. I also have bathroom privleges, so that is the most exciting part of my day usually (aside from my shower and when DH finally gets home!) I will be visiting my regular doc on Monday and I am very interested to see what he has to say. According to the 4 ultrasounds we had and the doctors at the hospital a few things are going on... 1) I have a low lying placenta. I guess it isn't a full placenta previa, but it could have been low enough to cause the bleeding.
2) I had a small placental abrubtion which is when the placenta pulls away from the wall of the uterus. That could have caused the bleeding.
3) My amniotic fluid is low. I guess a normal fluid volume is 10 and 5 is so low they would do an emergency c-section. I am at 7. This worries me a little bit and I am wondering if I lost some fluid when I had the gush.
4) My cervix is shortened. Again, it could stay like this for weeks, but I guess a normal cervix at 31 weeks is 3.5 (milimeters? I am not sure what the measurement is) Mine is at 2.7.
I am just hoping that BF stays put until 36 weeks. Already he/she is 4 pounds and if I go to 40 weeks it is likely that BF would be a healthy 8.5 pounds! YAY! Stay in there little one.
I am typing on the bed and getting all cramped up from my position. I am going to re-read everyones posts and then come back to add my two cents! So happy to be back with you guys!

abbytfox - Oh my goodness! That is so scary. I am so sorry you had to go through that. I am just so glad that all is well with you and baby. Definitely take it easy and follow all the doctor's rules. I hope that BF stays in there and continues to grow nice and big for a couple more weeks. Thinking of you!

Abby--I am so glad everything is going well. Ugh for bed rest, i kn ow that can get boring (and uncomfortable). Here's hopin the baby stays put for as long as possible!
QOTD--Belly button? What belly button? LOL I haven't had one in months...
So, as if being 5.5 weeks from my due date wasn't nerve racking enough, SO got the news today that Friday will be his last day of work. He was hired as a contractor at a pretty big defense company, and was told they were keeping him till November, at least. Guess not. So, that, and my cold, has my stress levels pretty high.

bellybutton - Mine is still in there, and I dont think it will pop out. I have a pretty severe innie.
Natasha - we both have the same due date, so aren't you 4.5 weeks from your due date instead of 5.5? Or am I the one doing the math wrong?
Lindzee82

Natasha - Sorry about your SOs job. That stinks. I hope you can figure something out. Thinking of you! And Kristen is right, you only have 4.5 weeks left!!!!

2nd Timers:Are you buying new nipples for your bottles or using the same ones?
I'm just going to use the same ones mostly. I threw out the ones that look worn and I'll replace those but for the most part we're just going to reuse what we have.

Oooh I love a busy thread! :)
First some SO's:
Abby WELCOME HOME! What a scary experience to go through - keep yourself nice and rested!!!
Lindzee & Hawaii great belly shots!
Sem good luck with the furniture delivery tomorrow! Hope the doc went well! Regarding the rain, I seriously might build an ARK! ;) I don't think the sun has been out in over a week now - how do people in Seattle do it???
Now for some QOTD:
Birth Control funny this should come up... DH and I talked about this the other night and he said how about the pill. I told him I would have to look into it because I wasn't sure how it affected BF. Then he shocked me by saying "well, why use anything... I mean, we want to have more than 1 so why stop now"... UMMM -!
Hospital Bags I was going to be sooo pro-active with this and pack over the w/e. Until DH mentioned that we live 5 minutes from the hospital and I really didn't need to pack a huge bag to lug w/ us. He'll run home for things as I need them. Whew! So, I'm going to pack some supplies like shampoo, makeup, toothpaste, back massager, pads etc. and then pack the rest next week after my shower (boppy, baby's coming home outfits). But I'm not going to go overboard. The online lists can be pretty daunting... our hospital supplies a lot of things for me and the baby and whatever I need, DH can run home for. Pretty convenient living down the road from the hospital! ;)
Belly button mine is *this* close to popping... it's hanging on for dear life though. I'm hoping it doesn't pop - not looking forward to witnessing that. I took my belly ring out in the beginning of the pregnancy and that area is pretty discolored... nasty!
Labor Symptoms/Contrax hmmmm... not sure if I'm experiencing anything or not. I often ask my mom/sisters/friends whether I will really know if I'm in labor or not. I mean, my doctor mentioned that my belly was back to measuring normal sized for where I am but that that could be from his position - he's now very low and "engaged". So, other than that I don't think I'm experiencing anything. I am a bit crampy at times but can't tell if its contrax or not since I've never felt them before. I'll be looking forward to the internals (did I just say that??) since I really can't seem to get "in tune" with my body like everyone else is. Kudos to all of you for recognizing labor signs!
Car Seats the town next to us has our counties "car seat inspection station" in it so we'll be heading there to have them check it for us once we install it. I'd rather install it ourselves first and then have it checked so that we have some idea on how to do it rather than just have someone do it for us. For those of you looking for the nearest car seat inspection station, there's a website you can use... I just don't have it handy now. Google "car seat inspection" and it should come up though.
I had my work baby shower today! :D Can you say uncomfortable?!?! I'm sooo not a fan of being the center of attention... so it was awkward. But so thoughtful and nicely done! I was really impressed... we got a $500 gift card to BRU along with lots of baby clothes, things from our registry like Baby Einstein dvds and the gymini to match too... the bundle me, sheets, decorative baskets. I was really surprised! And now have so much laundry to do for the baby... who knew such a little person could have so much laundry before even coming into this world! :)
Off to grab some dinner now!

abby Oh wow that is so scary. I can't even imagine that happening....especially while you were at work. I'm so glad you are home and settled now. All you need to do is REST REST REST!
beevo the room came out great!!
Seb DH is home today waiting for the furniture....I'm hoping they have it all covered when they bring it in the house since it's pouring AGAIN! ARGH...this weather is SO depressing. You made out like a bandit at your work shower. I'm pretty sure they will have something here for me....but I'm not sure when it is. Hopefully, I'll do half as well as you did!!
dr appt yesterday went well...no internal yet. my next appt is fri 10/21. I will have my first internal as well as my strep test.
BP was good, baby's HB was strong...he also said he thought the head was down now so that was good news. I'm up a total of 26lbs. I feel like I've gained most of it in the last few weeks!
I have my latest belly shots to post...I'm just waiting for DH to upload them at home and email them to me....I'll post them later!

Abby WOW. what a story... what an incredibly frightening experience! I am so glad you and BF are at home safe and sound. I hope you have found some fun projects to help you pass the time!
Sem cant wait to see pictures of your furniture!
beevo great job on the nursery! you must be feeling so good having so much done!
Sebski HOLY COW on your work shower! That is so awesome! Im totally with you on hating being the focus of attention.. but wow. thats some crazy GC you got!
We had our car seats inspected last night and DH did a great job.. they just had to adjust the seat height, but otherwise they were A-Ok!
we got SO much hand me down clothing from my sister last night and we also received a box from DH's sister we spent a couple hours sorting through everything ... it was a fun but surprisingly tiring job.
I am so tired today despite sleeping relatively well last night.. i think its this weather.. its SO dreary out... all i want to do is curl up and sleep!

Doctor update-I had my 34wk appt today. Cervix is long closed and soft so no change there. The doc had a hard time finding the babies heartbeat which was nerve racking but she was bopping around the whole time so I wasn't too worried. The doc couldnt find the heart beat b/c of her unusual position!! We had to do an ultrasound to figure out if her head was down or not. We found out that she is laying transverse breech which means she is laying across my belly. Which explains the discomfort I have been feeling. Maybe she is making my decision on vaginal vs c-section since obvioulsy vaginal is out of question if she doesnt move ahh!! But who knows maybe she will move again. I am just worried that she is too big too move!! I have an ultrasound and consultation with the doc Thursday the 20th to see if she has moved and to discuss the c-section option! So I guess I know I havent dropped:eek:
Sebski-Congrats on the gift card that is awesome!!
Beevo-Awesome job on the baby's room!!
belly button- Mine didnt pop out but it is flat now! I took my belly button ring out in the beginning and now I have an X (stretch mark) over the hole! X marks the spot.

first-time momIsn't it the worst when they can't find the baby's HB right away? Even though BF has been SO active, it still freaks me out. Crazy that your babe is laying across your belly. Hopefully, it moves into position soon. You must feel so stretched!
BeevoYour nursery looks great! So lush and warm. We are kind of working backwards from you...we have the closet all organized, but not much else done (we have painted the room, thank goodness!) Isn't it amazing that soon a little person will be sleeping, eating and changing in there?!
semGlad your appointment went well. 26 pounds is awesome! Isn't it crazy that we are STILL gaining? Where will it go? Thank you for your thoughts. I am doing a lot of resting and trying to just relax, but it is so hard when you HAVE to relax, not just when you WANT to. I know it sounds dumb and I should be really enjoying this time when I have no responsibilities, but I just want to get things ready for the baby or help in some way. I am trying to be a good patient and do nothing.
AlannaThanks for your concern and well wishes. I am knitting up a storm and watching lots of TV. My best friend is coming over on Saturday and hopefully she is bringing some scrapbooking stuff so I can start my baby book. I think that would be really calming for me...just being able to focus on this baby and a healthy pregnancy from here on out. Sorry the weather is so gross there...I was watching the Today Show and it was pouring! Yuck. Glad the car seat is safely installed. That must feel great!
SebThanks! It is SO good to be home. I have been moving from the bed to the couch and trying to maintain a sense of schedule by getting up with Adam and showering first thing in the morning. Usually by lunch I am so ready for something exciting to happen. Today I have a girlfriend and her daughter coming over to hang out with me for a couple hours. Can you say excited!? It is so nice that your work put together a shower for you...and how generous of everyone! That gift card will help a lot, I bet!Have fun shopping for the baby.
LindzeeThanks for your thoughts. It was actually really comforting to know that you guys knew what was going on with me. I was so appreciative that Adam agreed to post an update. I think he would like to be a part of our thread, now. He always asks me what is going on here. So cute! I am sorry that you are starting to feel really uncomfortable...if it helps you look great! You are such a darling pregnant lady...all belly! How is the nausea going? I hope it has subsided at least a little. I know what you mean about wanting Matthew to arrive early and healthy. That is what I am thinking at this point, too. Get my baby here safe and sound and get me out of this bed! The docs all said that 37 weeks was full term and so I am hoping I hold out until then and then the baby decides its ready!
AlbThanks for your concern! I know...can you believe that I was walking 3 times a day and now I can't walk more than to the bathroom? I am trying to keep healthy with stretches and bed exercises, but it is obviously not the same. I was joking in the hospital (after the initial shock wore off) that it was the restricted carb diet and all the walking that caused the bleeding! I am very curious to see what my doc says when we visit on Monday. Hope you guys are doing well!

NatashaThanks for your offer to help! I will definitely PM you if I need anything. I am feeling really lucky to have my mom and dad so close (in Palo Alto) and friends nearby as well. It helps to know that everyone is willing to pitch in...what an amazing feeling! Thank you!
HawaiiI LOVE your pumpkin picture! Fall is my favorite time of year and I am so into halloween and Thanksgiving. On October 1, I was already talking about going to the pumpkin patch to pick out my pumpkin. It is one of the things I am going to miss out on while I am on bedrest. Your picture was just the best! I think I am going to send Adam to pick out some great pumpkins for our family.
**************
I hope I didn't miss anyone. Please know that everyone's support was so helpful and kind. I really appreciate it all.
I have been knitting and watching TV and am looking for a good book to read. Normally, I am reading Young Adult fiction in the library so I am interested in some fluffy girly novels to keep me occupied. Any suggestions?
My baby shower was originally planned for October 8th and since I was in the hospital it didn't happen. My best friend has rescheduled it for October 29th at my house. I am so glad and can not wait! It will be so wonderful to celebrate with everyone and I am just itching for the company of all my friends! We have gotten our PNP, highchair, monitor, bouncey seat, boppy and a few other things delivered in the mail. SO exciting! Also, yesterday my Aunt and Uncle sent me my diaper bag. It is the Oi Oi one with the black and white flowers that I really wanted. I was thrilled! Hope you East Coasters are staying dry! It looks like terrible weather on the national news.

Abby, you've probably already read most of these, but if you haven't, anything by Amy Tan (Joy Luck Club, The Kitchen God's Wife, etc.) or Barbara Kingsolver (The Bean Trees, Animal Dreams, etc.) is candy-reading for me. I simply cannot put those books down. I went to work on zero hours of sleep thanks to those two on many occasions. The Poisonwood Bible (Kingsolver) is a bit more serious than her other books, but it's a really amazing and eye-opening book. My one criticism of it is that I can't imagine sisters from the same family being quite that different from one another, and that one aspect seemed unrealistic to me, but I thought the rest of it was really beyond criticism. In a way, it must be nice to have the chance to burn through some novels--in a few more weeks, none of us will have that luxury for a long, long time! But I'm sure you'd happily throw that luxury and all the others that come along with a lot of time on your hands right out the window to have not had this scare, and to not have to deal with bedrest. Hang in there!
First-time, transverse breech?! I can only imagine how uncomfortable that must be! For you, and actually, for her, also! Poor little things, I can't help wondering if they mind being so squished. I would! I'm claustrophobic and just imagining how it must be for them at this point, rolled into little balls and facing a much-too-tight exit, gives me the heebie-jeebies.
Alanna, can you believe we're going to be *full term* in THREE MORE DAYS?! Hurray for hand-me-down clothing! Actually a good 80% of ours is from a consignment shop (my mom and cousin hit a shop in Montclair NJ when they had a closeout asmuchasyoucanstuffinabag for $5 sale), but I swear I can't tell that it's not brand new. I was really intimidated by the mountains of stuff for a long time, but now that we have our dresser and our painting done, I've had no excuse for not doing the laundry. So, I'm doing lots of laundry these days, and folding and putting away little baby clothes. It doesn't look like as much stuff when it's nicely folded and put away as it did when it was in mountains on the bed in our spare bedroom. I'm mystified by sorting it into correct sizes, though--what is 0-3 months in one brand seems bigger than something that is 6-9 months from another brand! And I'm heartbroken to look at some of the smaller little short-sleeve things--I'm so afraid Baby will get too big to wear them before the weather gets warm enough next year for me to have a chance to put her in them! Returning for larger sizes is out of the question--lots of stuff is from that consignment store and all of it has been mailed to me from the US. I don't have a single receipt even if exchanging via international mail were a viable option (it's not!).
sem...we're waiting impatiently for those belly shots! And also furniture pictures! Hopefully your DH has had it all delivered and assembled by now!
Beevo, Congratulations on having your nursery all done! Amazing! I agree with some of the ladies on the nursery pics thread, I don't really think you need to recover the glider. The blue picks up nicely on the blue in the border. But if you would like it better in different fabric and you have the energy for such things, more power to you! And....LOOK at all those CLOTHES you have! I've been meaning to ask--for those of you having boy babies, is it SO frustrating to shop for clothes? There really seems to be so much more for girls. I was looking through the stuff I've been washing and sorting, and man if these ultrasound gender predictions have been wrong, we're going to be dressing a little boy in some *incredibly* girly clothes! Even the yellows and greens just don't seem very gender-neutral to me.
Sebski, hurray for your awesome baby shower! Sounds like suffering through the center-of-attention thing for a little while paid off nicely to me! You work in the city, don't you? Getting all that stuff home must have been a challenge!
-----------------------------------------------
OK, I have to show you guys what I bought!
http://store1.yimg.com/I/aibf_1863_5709122
I got the limited edition, signed version. DH will kill me. Oh well. I thought it would be cool for Baby to have a limited edition print from the year she was born, and I'm trying to do hot air balloons (if I ever get around to making the papier mache ones I'm imagining) for the nursery. I'm also not so into baby-baby decorations, and I think this one could be appealing in a nursery without being too cartoon-character-y for me. Now I'm just worried whether the poster will look funny over the wallpaper border I bought (another thing DH doesn't know about--yet). It was a battle to convince him to paint the room light green instead of leaving it white! We live in a rental and I know he won't be happy when I announce I want to hang this border. The border is 7 inches tall (so the scale of the images here is all wrong, the border is much *much* smaller in comparison to the 3ft high print), and I want to hang it at a little above chair-rail level:
http://images.solidcactus.com/usawall/picture.aspx?i=NB76954&w=&h
(Beevo, do you remember it? I think you were the one who found it for me!) But the room is incredibly small and I'm worried that hanging the print over the border will look funny--the print has some strong colors and the border and wall are more subtle, muted light green. Should I leave the border off the wall where I plan to hang the print? That would mean putting the border on two walls, opposite each other--one has the crib against it and the other has the dresser/changing table. Of the other two walls, one wall has the door and built in closets, which are all white, and what little actual wall there is on that wall we left white. The wall opposite that is where I plan to put the print--it has the door to the balcony and I have the nursing chair against that wall. The room is tiny, TINY, did I mention that? I'm worried that too much "stuff" will be overwhelming. As it is, the chair, footstool, dresser (that we're using as a changing table), and crib make it seem full of furniture, if not already overstuffed. And I still want to add a bookshelf. Anyway, picture a smallish light-green wall--this poster will dominate what space on that wall is not already taken up by the balcony door (the poster is about 2ft x 3ft). Would it seem funny if the same wall had the border, under the print? Or should I leave the border off that wall? Would that seem funny, with the border only on the walls facing each other? I know I need to get some freaking pictures already....

Lastly, Tulip.....Tulip.....where are you?!

What a busy thread! I stayed home from work today, I was feeling super dizzy this morning when I woke up. Like I had the spins from too much drinking, it was strange, I had a hard time walking straight. DH stayed home with me for awhile, and it seems to have gotten better now. I know some of you guys have had issues with light-headedness and dizziness but this is a first for me. Luckily I have a drs. appointment this afternoon so I can ask about it then.
Alb I love the print! I have a print of Babar with some hot air balloons in our nursery. From reading your description it sounds to me if the print will be directly OVER the border that it might be too much, I like your option of having the border on 2 opposite walls. But if you have some pics of the room that you want to post that might help.
Abby hang in there with the bed rest! Glad you have some friends coming over and are trying to stay 'scheduled', that sounds like the thing to do to survive bed rest. Are you planning on doing birth announcements?? Maybe you could start on those now, you could do some really fancy ones with all the time you have on your hands.
Beevo I also really like your nursery, I love animal themes. I bet your son is going to love it as he gets older and can enjoy all the animals himself.
First-time mom that sucks about the baby being transverse. Where do you usually feel the baby kick, on the sides? I wonder because when I'm upright I get kicks only in the top of my belly (with some headbutts in the cervix) but when I lay down I only get kicks on the sides of my belly. Hopefully your baby will turn in the next week. That's funny about your X!

Yikes, is it really only 4.5 weeks to go!? My math was off. Duh, makes sense, tho, halfway through my 35th week. Maybe I'm just hoping she'll stay in a little longer!
Abby--No problem. I really don't do much during the week, so if you need anything...
Beevo--The nursery looks amazing!
Alb--I really like the hot air balloons. And, funny you said that about boys clothes. When I was preggo with DS, all i could find were cute girl clothes, there was almost nothing for boys. Now, it seems like all the cute stuff is for biys, and the girl stuff is blah... lol The grass is always greener, I guess.
Alanna--That is great, about the hand me dows. a friend of mine had her baby in April, and she wants to give me some of her old stuff. Works for me!

Just spoke to DH the furniture has arrived and is being set up now! I'm going to take some pix and then will post when I get the bedding all put on!
ETA: I just looked at these pix...don't I look much bigger in the last pic than the middle one? It's from the other side...but it seems like there is a big difference!

dr. appointment - I had my appointment this morning. I am up a total of 26 pounds so far. I am pretty happy with that. I only gained 1 pound in the past 2 weeks. Yay me! I think weight gain starts slowing down in these last few weeks so that is good. I had my Group B Strep test today. It was a piece of cake. I asked the midwife how common it is to test positive and she said that 25-33% of women test positive for it. So if I do test + I am not going to freak out about it because its pretty common! 2 weeks ago my baby was breech but she has since moved I guess and now she is in the perfect position. We listened to the heartbeat and it was good. I got my first internal just to make sure the head was down, and it was! I am 1 centimeter dialated and very soft she said, so those are both good things I guess. But my cervix is still long. Baby probably weighs about 5lbs 5oz or so now. I got my pre-registration paperwork for the hospital and I got a recommendation for a pediatrician, so I have to call this week to set that whole thing up. Everything is looking pretty good. :)

AbbyI know it drives me crazy when they cant find the hb right away it makes you really nervous. Its crazy that their position can affect finding it. Yes I do feel stretched! I thought this was a normal uncomfortable but now it makes sense why I am so uncomfy:(
Shirsty-Yeah I get limbs sticking out of my sides!! I was wondering what these lumps were, now it makes sense!! The strange thing is after I got home I could feel kicks down by my groin so I wonder if she jammed herself up their in an attempt to turn while I was at the doctor? Either way her feet are still down near my cervix and head up high! I am not sure if she will be able to flip!
Alb-I know I dont like close spaces either! I cant figure out how she can be comfy there. The first thing dh said was she cant hurt herself can she? ha I thought that was cute! I told him not to worry she is surrounded in water, its me thats uncomfortable! Who knows maybe she will suprise me and get into the right spot. My moms best friends baby turned at 39 wks which is crazy! I would think I would feel her make that kind of a move?
Sem-Nice belly shots! I look bigger on one side as well! Maybe your peanut is hanging out on one side vs the other:)

abbytfox - Thanks for the compliments on my belly! I am very proud of it, if that makes sense. The nausea is getting worse as I get closer to delivery. It stinks, but I can deal. I have made it this far. 37 weeks really isn't too far off from you. It sounds like you are really doing a good job of resting and staying calm so I think you have a really good chance of keeping BF in there until the end. Have you ever read the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsela? They are the best!!!!! My favorites by far!!! Sorry your baby shower had to be cancelled. I am glad that it is being rescheduled. How exciting to be receiving such great gifts in the mail! Take care of yourself!!
albuquerque - Nice poster! Yes, we definitely need pics!
shirsty - Sorry about the dizziness. I had that before and it is not fun! Take care!
sem426 - Looking good!! Sooo glad your furniture arrived!! How exciting!!
kristen78 - Yay for being dilated!!! That is awesome!! Baby girl is definitely making some progress. Glad to hear the Group B test wasn't that bad. I am a little freaked out for it.

abbytfox some of my most favorite light authors are Maeve Binchy, Rosamund Pilcher and Elinor Lipman... they all read like candy...
Have you ever listened to audio books? Im totally addicted to them i listen to them in the car but also when i am in bed and have insomnia... they might be a fun thing for you to try if you havent yet...

LindzeeI haven't read those yet. I think Adam will be stopping on his way home tonight to pick them up. I have seen them before and they look really fun and mindless...just what I am wanting for this time! Thanks!
KristenSounds like your appointment went well. I have read that as you get closer to the end your weight gain can slow a lot or even stop. Glad your baby has moved into position! Isn't it amazing that they know exactly what to do to get ready? We are running around trying to prepare and they know just what to do!
semLooking good! I also think that I am bigger from one side than the other. I am going to take my 32 week shots today and I'll check it out and see if that is still the case. Can't wait to see your furniture and bedding!
ShirstyWe are going to do birth announcements, but I am thinking about having inababycarriage.com do them. I am going to use some of this time to research where we might want to get them. I don't think we have sophisticated enough equipment to do them at home the way I am envisioning. Thanks for the idea though. It reminds me that I need to start looking into that!
Alb I LOVE Barbara Kingsolver! I haven't read the Poisonwood Bible yet, but you reminded me that it has been on my list. Thanks! Also, I love that poster you got for your nursery. The colors are amazing and so happy! Can't wait to see it all come together!
CONGRATS TULIP!!!!What great news!

Congrats Tulip!! Welcome baby Fletcher, how great he is nice and big coming 18 days early :)
Abby So glad to hear that you are home, and I am sure that DH is taking extra special care of you. They found someone to replace me at work earlier than expected, so this is my last week there. I have no idea what to do w. myself for the next 6 weeks so we will have to keep each other busy :D
Sem great belly pics! My belly looks just like yours, all round :) I am proud of it too :) and baby & I got lots of compliments at our shower on Sunday.
Alb Great print, love the hot air ballons idea for the nursery.
Beevo I love your nursery too!
Cramping I am starting to get crampy too, over the last 2 days. Mostly in the morning when I get up. I am going to discuss it w. doc at my appt on Monday, but am not thinking much of it. I think drinking water helps, once I eat breakfast and drink something they tend to stop.
I am amazed at how much I feel now like I did in the first trimester. My nausea is back, and I am exhausted by little things (like getting in and out of the car LOL). I am hoping to get an energy burst or something soon or I will never get the nursery ready lol.
I am also trying to figure out how many more clothes I need. Its hard b/c we are not finding out the sex of the baby, and I have heard from friends that once s/he is born, people will buy gender specific clothes. I am leery to rely on that though, and as of right now I have only about 8 outfits as our shower was almost all baby stuff off our registry (not that I am complaining!). I have a few NB and the rest 0-3m or 3-6m. I am thinking I am going to get at least 4 more outfits in both sizes. I am having a hard time though as all the gender neutral stuff looks the same to me.

Yay Tulip! How exciting! Hope you both are doing well!
Bliss--I actually went through all the baby clothes we had, and made an itemized list. Then, I tried to remember what i needed with DS, and went from there. Outfits are good to have, but some neutral pj's and creepers are great to have! I remember doing a lot of laundry with DS as a newborn, and alot of times you can find cute footie pj's and gowns in packs. Good luck!

Tulip - Congrats!!!
some after dr. appt spotting - So yesterday i had an internal exam at my doc's and the midwife said I would probably see some bleeding afterwards. Which I did. It was dark brown though, which is normal. Then last night it dwindled but it came back this AM with some clear + brown mucous. I wasn't sure what to make of it. I would compare it to what you might see at the very end of your period or something. It wasn't that much so I think its just from the exam yesterday. If I see much more I may call my doctor later, but I'm 99% sure its just normal from being poked and jabbed "in there".
Lindzee - Really the Group B Strep test is nothing to be anxious about. They just took a large Q-tip and wiped it around the outside of your vagina. That was it. I could have done it to myself really...
Lindzee82

Kristen - Sorry about the spotting. I am sure it is normal. It is crappy though. Maybe since there was some mucous you are starting to lose your plug? She could have jarred it loose or something. Keep an eye on it! I had read that in the Group B test they swabbed your butt, too, so that is what I was worried about. If its just the hoo then I am a ok with that! Thanks for the info!
Kristen78

Lindzee - I thought they swabbed your butt too, but honestly I didn't feel any swabbing going on down there. Ha! It only took like 2 seconds.
