I was thinking last night about "Easy Wins." By which I mean substituting X product for Y, losing a ton o' calories/fat/carbs/whatever-you're-watching, without losing out on a bunch of flavor/texture/whatever-you're-wanting. I love easy wins, cause they're so, well, easy. ;) I thought it might be nice to share them around.

A few of mine:

Egg Beaters instead of Eggs: Saves 90 calories and 420mg of cholesterol on a 2-egg omelette.

Turkey Pepperoni vs. Regular: Sometimes a girl's just gotta make a pizza. Oberto makes Turkey Pepperoni that has less than half the fat & calories of regular, and it tastes great. Pile random veggies on, along with the turkey pep, and that's a fantastic pizza.

Walden Farms Salad Dressing: Zero calories, Zero carbs, Zero fat ... versus sometimes 180 calories per 2 tbs in regular full-fat dressings (and who stops at 2 tbs when you're eating a dinner salad?). Some of the Walden Farms (http://www.waldenfarms.com/) dressings are better than others. I really like the Caesar (I zing it up with a little lemon juice), Bacon Ranch, and Balsamic Vinagrette. I also like their Zero carb/Cal BBQ Sauce. B and I just bought one of their fruit spreads last night... we thought it might be good on the 25 cal. Rice Cakes we like for a snack.

Wok With Me Sauces: I can't find a link on these, but they're great. 15 calories/tbs for their teriyaki sauce, and not much more for their Peanut, Szechwan, and Orange/Sweet-n-sour sauces. One thing about these sauces though is that they melt ... so I make my stir fry first, and drizzle a little sauce over the top... otherwise you're having soup-fry instead of stir-fry.

What are some of your substitutes?

Fat Free sugar free chocolate pudding made with skim milk. Delicious. Add some FF whipped cream for even more fun (less than 1 gram of sugar).

Mmm - pudding! :D There are so many yummy flavors of Sugar Free pudding, too.

Another one I forgot:

La Tortilla Factory Tortillas: These yummy tortillas are only 50 calories (http://www.latortillafactory.com/healthy/labels/low-carb_low-fat_garlic-herb.aspx), versus the sometimes 300-calorie ones you can get in the store. I looove to make chicken or shrimp fajitas with these (we call them "Sloppy Joses" cause they tend to be messy ;)).
