iTunes is my favorite. Napster is also a possibility these days, I believe. :)

You should also check out Allofmp3 (http://sr.allofmp3.com/search.shtml). You can dowload a whole CD for about $2.50.

I just had a friend reccomend Lime Wire to me yesterday. She set it up on my computer and I am LOVING it. It's free to download music on and it is soooo fast. It seriously takes me like 1 minute to download a song - if that. There is a regular copy (thats the free one) and an advanced copy (that you have to pay for). I use the free one and it works great.

-I have a Mac so I checked out using iTunes, however you have to pay $.99 per song to download. You give them your credit card # and they charge it.

-Napster was great when it first came out but now you have to pay for it.

Getting music free that you should be paying for is illegal. iTunes only charges about $10 an album, which is less than most CDs you buy in stores. Plus, you can make a couple of copies, put the music in a mix CD, etc.

Limewire is a P2P file sharing program. Many ISPs don't allow file uploading, which is what you would be doing while you're downloading your music files. So, I can't even use it.

I just found this site: www.mymusicinc.com and am wondering about it. It says you get unlimited song downloads for a basic fee per year. Does anyone have any info on it? Thanks!

Jeepgirl I don't have any specific experience with My Music Inc., but I subscribed to All Cool Music, thinking that since I was paying a subscription fee that it would be legal. No, it's not legal, and all they did was install Limewire on my computer, which is free anyway. So I would make sure My Music Inc. is actually giving you something for your money.

I have been trying to get my $ back from All Cool Music ever since, and that was in July.

Yeah... I just couldn't quite make myself sign up for it, something seemed fishy. The only thing is, they "appear" to be endorsed by many reputable companies... if you get the chance, check it out. Either way, thanks for your input!

That sounds like a download "rental" service. I just read about it here: http://ptech.wsj.com/archive/report-200508.html

However, I'm not sure if that specific service is a legal subscription site or not, so definately check into that if you want to go the rental route.

So did All Cool Music. =( I think that's why I fell for it.

Help! I want two songs for my playlist while having our baby. I can't find either on iTunes.:
Father and Daughter, Paul Simon, from the Wildthornberrys Soundtrack
Apron Strings, Everything But the Girl, She's Having a Baby soundtrack

I would prefer to download these legally, but am afraid of going to the sites mentioned above b/c of viruses etc. Also, I don't want to have to download new software if the site doesn't have the song (ie, Napster). Can anyone make any recommendations? Thank you!

New to this thread but I use allofmp3.com I, cross fingers, hope that it completely legal since we do pay for songs.

I checked and AllofMP3 (http://www.allofmp3.com) does have both of the those songs.

Thanks! I just ordered the music. Seems legit. I'll have to see how the quality comes out after it downloads.

allofmp3 is based in russia so the riaa can't touch them. this is what i've heard, correct me if i am wrong. i believe theyve already tried, according to my boyfriend. he said that they were down for a few weeks but now they are back up. my boyfriend and i share an acct and i believe we get like 3 or 4 albums for 10.00.. depending on the quality we download the songs at.

My husband has become an Amazon convert lately; I believe albums are $1 or so cheaper than iTunes there.
