Anyone have any advise on places to stay....things to do? DH and I are looking for a long weekend getaway for our anniversary. Thought that Hot Springs sounded fun.

I haven't spent more than a few hours in Hot Springs, so I don't have any recommendations there (aside from the obvious ... go to one of the baths), but I would recommend going to the Ozarks nearby. I think Hot Springs might actually get boring very quickly. We were there for a few hours just passing through and felt like that was enough. But we loved the Ozarks! We spent 3 days in the Ozark Mountains. If you like outdoorsy things (hiking, camping, canoeing, etc.), it's a great place. It's absolutely gorgeous. Perfect for a long weekend getaway. The drive from Hot Springs to the Ozarks is just a few hours at most (I don't remember exactly b/c it's been a few years, but I think maybe 2-3 hours). You can find lots to cabins to rent and cute little "rustic" B&B's on the internet.

Thanks for the link! We ended up booking four nights at the Embassy Suites. The hotel looks really nice. It's Arkansas HOG rally up there that weekend so we're bound to have a good...loud time! I figure we'll do the baths, explore the national park and some of the gardens, maybe go horseback riding. And even if we just hole up in the hotel it looks like a really nice one. I'm excited :D

I am going with my FH's family to Hot Springs, Arkansas at the end of this month. There is about 15 people going and we are staying for 4 days and I know the first day we are going to Magic Springs! Is there any other things we should do while at our stay in Hot Springs? Shops, tours, museums? I am up for any suggestions! TIA!

Eat at Doe's Eat Place! It is amazing! You order steaks by the pound (!!), which seems like they would be tough and yucky but they are delicious. And they have the best tamales, fries and fried dough rolls.
Seriously--eat there-you'll love it. It is a great place to go with a big group because you order like 3-4 steaks and then share them.

Dexters, Thanks for recommending that restraunt. Its sounds great and since my FH loves Steaks I think we might eat on there on his b-day (his b-day is while we are on vacation). Do you happen to remember where it is located? I know we are staying dowtown.
I am still up for more suggestions! TIA!

We got married in Hot Springs. It has it's good areas and it's not-so-good areas, but overall we like it. We enjoy the outdoor and nature activities. Perhaps visit one of the nearby state parks and spend a day there. Or rent a boat and spend some time on the lake. A party barge for your group's size would cost about $200 for a day I think.

My best friend and I went to the Austin Hotel's spa for a mineral bath and massage after we took our boards. It was heavenly! Magic Springs is supposed to be a lot of fun...I've never been, though. Also the horse racing track is there, if you're into that. There are lots of little shops down town, so shopping should be good. The botanical gardens are in HS. my friends sister got married there and it is supposed to be beautiful (Garvin Woodland Gardens, I think). There are lots of parks and lakes nearby-I like DeGray Lake and St. Park. I am pretty sure there is a little restaraunt there too.
