I have been feeling movement for about a week and a half, but not frequently. Usually I feel a couple "pokes" once or twice a day. This morning, very early, I felt a series of movements for the first time-- over the course of 2 mins, I felt several pokes. :D I have never felt "flutters" or "bubbles," just little pokes; that sounds like what you were feeling too.

Jackie - ahem.... that is QUITE the boy you have there!! My goodness, he is very well endowed! ;)
I am so happy for you!
Jason has been on a deadline all day long so I didn't want to bother him with the u/s photos. Hopefully he can do it tonight or tomorrow.
My boys butt (that sounds so funny!) didn't look like yours but mine wasn't really cooperating. We didn't get such a great shot of his hiney. We did see him smiling, sucking his thumb and kicking me! When we did see the goods it was just his penis sticking out and not a great shot of his butt.
I can't wait till everyone else finds out!! This such an exciting time for us as mommies!!!!!!

Lots of boys!!!
Feeling pretty good these days just trying not to stress too much about our amnio results. I had gained a total of 5 lbs so far so that sounds about right but I do have to say I feel like I have gained 20. We move into our new house on Thursday so lots of things going on....

Wow! Boys abound! Congratulations to all the new boy mamas. Has anyone been checking out the December mommies? I lurk from time to time, and they are also having a slew of little guys.
Tsmom - I am so glad to hear that the amnio went well. Fingers are crossed for great results. This is definitely the worst part, IMO.
Thanks for starting a new pretty thread ladies! ;) Here are my stats:
Yoganut
Me: Ali, 32
DH: Jason, 32
Married: 10/13/01
DS: Rowan, 12/2/03
EDD: 1/3/06
Gender prediction: Started as girl, but changed to boy after
I had a boy dream
Amnio results: 100% BOY ;)
Y'all have seen this u/s picture of my peace-loving baby, but I would love to have it added to the u/s photo section.

Jackie - That is definitely the classic 'boy' shot. Once you see it, you definitely know what to look for. I saw that angle at our 12 week ultrascreen, and knew for sure what it was. Congrats!!!
Seattle was fantastic. We had gorgeous weather, and really enjoyed exploring. I had work on Friday, but after that we walked all over and ate a wonderful dinner near Pikes market. Saturday, we drove up to Edmonds (cute town!) took the ferry to the other side of the sound and back. DS loved riding on the boat. Also went to Pike's market to see the flying fish and eat homemade doughnuts :) Sunday, we drove up and checked out Kirkland (which we love) visited the REI mega-store and went to an awesome children's museum. Needless to say, we are all exhausted today.
Hope everyone else had a great weekend!!

MrsTazlvr - Doh! My bad. :) I've never been a mod before, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.
tsmom - You've only gained 5lbs?! :eek: I've gained 13. :o :(
yoganut - Sounds like you had a great trip! I'll have to put Seattle on my "must-see" list. :)

Hey Ladies,
Hope everyone is doing well, I am exhausted!!! I thought we were suppose to be getting a burst of energy :confused: I mean I'll start off excited and ready to do things like this past weekend I was cleaning out our bedroom closet and it's like every 20 minutes I had to stop and take a break.
I'm starting to feel it in my back now and whenever I have to pee my stomach feels soooo heavy I tell ya I'm wabbling to the ladies room and I'm only 19 weeks!!
Is anyone else experiencing back pain or abdomen pressure?
Let's not even talk about sleep, what is that? I try so hard to get comfortable on my left side and end up on my stomach which is how I always sleep then I feel guilty like I'm hurting my lil jelly bean so I try to lay back on my side. So I'm tossing and turning all night.
You know what though even though I'm not the most comfortable right now I am so happy that I am experiencing some form of pregnancy with my son I had NOTHING!! I mean if it weren't for my stomach growing and the u/s you couldn't tell me I was preggo even when it was time to have him I had no contractions no pain nothing (I had a c-section) all I expereinced was my water breaking. So I kind of felt deprived.
I know alot of women complain about being pregnant and how miserable they are but in a way I am loving it in some wierd way, feeling this baby move, the morning sickness (although not fun at all) and all of the other things I've dealt with it assures me that my lil jelly bean is doing well and the bond I feel is incredible.
Okay coming off of the emotional soap box now :rolleyes:

I can't believe I have hit the half-way mark already! This pregnancy is going by so much faster than my first.
Cori/Moderators - !I was 16.5 weeks at the time of that u/s. Thanks
J&K - I didn't realize you lived in Seattle! We are seriously talking about moving up there next Spring. There is a chance my company might move me to focus on our clients up there...and we are so sick of LA (and LA housing prices) right now. That was part of the reason for our trip...to check things out and decide whether this is where we want to go. Thumbs up all around :D
terrys wifey - I am sorry to hear that you are so uncomfortable. I am experiencing a lot more exhaustion and discomfort this time as well, and my ob had warned me that I might. She said it was common with #2, as you are so much busier and don't have the same time to rest and relax. You have a great perspective though!
Name - We have definitely decided on a name for this peanut...its going to be Reece Stewart B.. DH is still trying to convinve me to go with the Welsh spelling of Rhys, but for now its the 'c' version. I can nickname him R2 around here (since DS#1 is R :rolleyes: ).
I feel so bad for a good friend. They had been trying to get pg for a few months with no success. Their doctor is really pro-active and sent friend's DH for an SA. The news isn't good, and now her DH has completely shut down and said that he just isn't meant to have kids, and he won't go to the fertility specialist. She is even open to adoption, but he won't hear of it. My heart is breaking for her, as I know she is so depressed. Uh, I can't help but feel guilty. Does this make sense? I know I should be thankful and reminded of how blessed we are...I just feel so horrible. Incidentally, she wanted to throw a shower for me (which I totally don't expect being this is #2), and now I definitely don't plan to bring it up. That just might be too painful for her. Ugh.

Terryswife~ Sorry you are so uncomfortable. Yeah, I am feeling tired a lot, too, but then again I am chasing a 20 month old. I think it is certainly harder for us secondtimers (or more). Yoganut is right. We just can't rest the way we did the last time around.
Update on me: Not much to report. Most of the M/S is gone, but I still have boughts of nausea some mornings. Nothing major though. I go for the big U/S on Friday, but I am pretty sure it's another girl. Yoga, wanna trade. LOL ;) We are trying to come up with a name but so far it has been a major struggle because we are naming after my grandfather and DH's grandfather. We need a D and a J name. So far Daniella has grown on us. I like the name Jamie, too, but Daniella Jamie just doesn't flow well enough for me. It's keeping me up at night. It was much easier naming our first DD. :rolleyes:
OK, off to nap while DD is naping. :D

Just got back from my OB appt. My big u/s is scheduled for Aug. 29th!! I can't wait! :D The baby's h/b was 154 (last appt it was 161) - maybe I'll add a much-needed GIRL to the group??
The doc also gave me a Rx for Nexium for my bad heartburn. I'm soooooo looking forward to not having to deal with heartburn as much.
Today was the last day of my graduate summer session. I get 2.5 weeks off before the fall quarter starts! I'm going to enjoy this time off, since the last time I had a break between school was when I was battling fatigue and m/s (so my days were spent on the couch).
terrys wifey - Sorry you're so exhausted. :( It's probably best to get as much rest as you can now anyway. :) I've been having lower back aches a lot lately. Mostly if I stand or sit for too long.
yoganut - I love your name choice! :) Your friend's story is so sad. I hope her DH is able to get over this and keep an open mind re: fertility and/or adoption.
MrsTazlvr - Sorry about the naming dilemma! I have no advice. :(

I just wanted to let the mods know that I'm not able to do updates at work but I can do them in the evening. So if your getting swamped during the day I can also do them at night. Thanks for keeping on top of everything.
I'll be back later to do SO's, chasing after a naked toddler. :rolleyes:

terrys wifey--I am having back pain sometimes already too. I mostly get back pain if I'm busy doing a lot of stuff that day. I was never big into sleeping on my stomach, but I can't even lay on my stomach anymore. I toss and turn a lot at night too. I try to lay on my side, but then find that my shoulder gets sore so I end up switching positions a lot.

terrys wifey, I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble sleeping already. Have you tried using multiple pillows (between your knees, under your belly, or at your back) to try to keep you in place? Luckily I am already in the habit of sleeping on my left side, but I'm finding that sticking a pillow between my knees makes my back feel better now. Oh, and I'm loving every minute of this being pregnant stuff, too. I think it's amazing despite all the yuckiness that goes along with it.
yoganut, wow 20 weeks! Congrats on making it to halfway! I love the name Reece (or Rhys). You're lucky to have figured it out so quickly.
jules, congrats on being done with school for a while! I hope you get some good relaxing in. I hope the Nexium works wonders for you.

I can't believe all the BOYS we have in here. The girls are going to need to catch up soon! I also noticed that the Dec thread has a lot of boys too, what is going on?? Must have been a lot of good BD timing! ;)
terrys wifey~ sorry that your not feeling well. My back hurts on an off too. I don't know if it's just when I sleep on it wrong or if it's actually due to baby. I also toss and turn a lot at night, I have problems with my hands falling asleep at night so I wake up a lot and try to shake it out. It was really bad when I was pg with #2 but not so bad with my last one. Unfortuantely I know it's just going to get worse the bigger I get. :(
Jules1025~ glad to hear you got something for your heartburn, I didn't know it was that bad. Hopefully you will start feeling better soon. Have fun relaxing these next few weeks!
yoganut~ congrats on the halfway mark! I will be there in two days! :D I also love that name, yeah on making a final decision. We probably won't have one until the baby is here. :rolleyes:
tsmom~ good luck with the move and remember to take it easy! We moved into our house when I was 9 mos pg, it was so nice to sit with my feet up and point and tell people where to go. :D
Jackie and Karen~ congrats on your BOYS! You definately have a boy there Jackie, I'm sure your DH is proud. ;)
Amie~ how did your U/S go today, do you still have a girl?
I just have to say I'm so excited for my U/S after hearing about some of you finding out. It's only a week away yet is still seems so far. Still not feeling much movement but occasionally (in the mornings when I'm laying really still) I can feel a little poking movements.
Name~ I do have a little dilema about the name if we do have a girl. My MIL passed away unexpectedly last Nov so without even talking about we both knew we would use her name for the middle name if it's a girl. She always wanted a grandchild named after her and while she was living that was never going to happen b/c of reasons that don't matter anymore. But my problem is her name is Linda and nothing really goes smoothly with that name. I haven't talked to DH about it but I thought if we used her middle name, which is Ruth, it would sound better with more names than Linda would. I don't know if that would be good enough since noone really knows her by her middle name. What do you all think? I know if she was alive and we used her middle name that wouldn't be good enough. Her daughter, my SIL, named her daughter Bailee Lynn and Lynn just wasn't good enough because it wasn't Linda. I suppose I could just mention it to DH and see what he thinks. I know you don't really use your middle name a lot so maybe it doesn't matter but yet it still does to me. Maybe this will be a boy and I won't even have to worry.

yoganut-- We are CA escapees. :D DH is from LA, we met and lived in San Diego for 5 years, and because of my job made our way to WA. We've lived here just short of one year, and really like it. The stories of rain are exaggerated, if this past winter is representative.
Wasn't last weekend beautiful?! My parents were in town and we made our way to Snoqualmie Falls and Mt Rainier Nat'l Park-- the weather was gorgeous! Of course today is a gray day. Anyway, let me know if you have any questions about the city-- I'd be glad to tell you what I know. :)
Love the name Reece! It made our short list.
jules1025-- We are u/s twins. :)
MrsTazlvr-- I've been lurking in your naming thread. I voted Jamie Danielle, probably for selfish reasons. :o I am Jamie Michelle, and have always loved my name. I think those two go great together, and it has a similar ring to my own.
terrys wifey-- Yeah, no bursts of energy here either. :confused: More like I'm still falling asleep on the couch at 9pm. :rolleyes: Re: sleeping, have you tried the Snoogle? Mine was worth every penny. Love it!
~~~
The big u/s is 2 weeks from today. The anticipation is overwhelming! All of your u/s pics just get me more and more excited for the big day.
Hi ladies! Been MIA for a bit, had a busy b-day weekend, and THEN I got sick Monday. :( My first cold while being PG, it sure sucked not being able to take the usual Nyquil! Doc said I could use Afrin for my congestion, which has produced nothing but nosebleeds. :rolleyes: Oy. Starting to feel a little better today. Some good news though: I felt the baby move, for the first time, on my b-day!
My u/s appointment is next Monday, 8/22. I can't WAIT! It seemed at first like it'd be forever until we could find out the gender, now the day is almost here!
terrys wifey ~ I'm in the same boat with being tired all the time. My housework/gardening is suffering as a result! And no exercise either, sadly. Maybe that would help, so I've ordered this prenatal yoga DVD. If it helps my energy at all, I'll let you know!
yoganut ~ Such a sad story about your friend. :( It must be hard to get that kind of news, but for her DH to now shut down....man, I don't know what I'd do. On the brighter side--I do love your name choice!
jules ~ Hey, our u/s's are the same week! :) I'm hoping to add a girl to the mix here. My 'instinct' says girl, but who really knows!
jasonsgal ~ Yay on u/s pics! :) Such a cute little thumb-sucker.
Names ~ We have narrowed it down more. Our GIRL name is Kayleigh Rose. DH has an aunt Rose, and I liked how it went with Kayleigh, so there you have it. :)
Our BOY names (we have that narrowed down to two), are Jack William, or Harrison James (Harry for nn)
William is my dad's name, and James is my grandpa's name. Very hard for us to decide between those two, as we like them equally!
Anyway, next Monday we'll find out which name it'll be, when we find out the gender!
Kerrie~ You're not stepping on anyones toes. We'd love the help because it's actually easier for you and me to edit than the other mods of this thread because they have to log out of their own names and into the January2006Moms name. You and I don't have to do that. I'll add your info now, but please feel free to help out if you like. ;) Congrats on seeing the baby move. By the way, my Dr. said Tylenol PM is OK once in a while so maybe you can take that when you have a cold next time. ;)
ETA~ Kerrie, your info wasn't lost. We started the new thread with everyone left off and everyone had to check in to the new thread so we can get it organized from the start with everyone who was still here after the great WC shuffle. ;)
Well everyone, I am absolutely dying for tomorrow to get here for the BIG u/s! My friend just found out she's having a little boy and my DH's response to that was: "Wow our daughter will have so many men to choose from." (Lot's of little boys being born in our church right now) He has supreme confidence that we will have a girl. I am hoping for the same, but not as sure as he is!
The next couple of weeks it seems we'll all be finding out (those who want to) which is just so exciting!
chefker I like all your names. We are also stuck between boy names (I keep swinging back and forth) Miles or Jeremiah. Maybe we'll both have girls and we won't need to make that decision!
Hey Guys!!!
Our u/s was yesterday...everything looks great. Baby is measuring a week ahead and my weight is still at -5 from pre-preg(woohoo) and BP was 122/80.
It likely jumped though, when we got the shock of our lives! It seems that little Grace has grown a little winky!!!! :D
jules1025~ Sorry to hear about your heartburn. I had it most of my pregnancy with DD and I know first hand how painful it can be. Have you changed your diet? I would if I knew what was causing it. The heartburn can come after eating a salad, fruit, potatoes, pizza, etc. It doesn't seem to matter. I don't eat fatty foods already. I sometimes eat acidic foods, though (pickles, vinaigrette dressing), so I'm trying to cut those out. What did you do to change your diet with your DD?
Amie - OMG! What a surprise. This baby likes to keep you on your toes already! It sure looks like 'boy parts' to me. Did they say they were 95%+ sure?
Jules - I'm sorry you are still suffering with heartburn. I have been experiencing major indigestion and now I think heartburn in the last week and a half...it makes me miserable. I thought it was a stomach virus, but it keeps coming and going. I was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome last February, and then once I got pg the symptoms went away. Seems to me like its back. I asked my ob's nurse yesterday what I could take - and I was surprised when she told me Pepto was OK. I took some last night, and it made a world of difference. I really hope you find something that works for you!
Here's a funny story...our management team at work consists of 5 of us. Me and my VP are both pg and due within a week of each other. The Managing director is of course thrilled. Then, yesterday I found out the other VP is also pg - and due in early March! Something definitely seems to be in the water!
Amie, holy crap! Congrats on the boy! Did you go out and buy many frilly dresses after the last ultrasound? The same thing happened to a coworker of mine. They'd gotten a bunch of clothes, the bedding, border for the wall, etc. and had to return it all. (ETA, I noticed your u/s pics are at photobucket. In case you don't already know, it's real easy to shrink the pics. Click on the edit button above each one and scroll down to resize picture. 75% should be enough for yours.)
jules1025, sorry to heartburn is still around.
My pregnancy curse is the perpetual stuffy nose. We've had a major cold front come through and I think the changing barametric pressure has made it worse. This is awful. I am going out right after work and buying some Sudafed. I've wanted to avoid unnecessary drugs, but I just can't take this anymore.
I am going on a little mini vacation this weekend to see my good friend in North Carolina. Her husband is going out of town, so we're going to have a fun girls weekend. This'll be my last chance to do anything like this for a long time...
MrsTazlvr... like you my m/s is gone but I still have boughts of nausea too and gagging. As far as your name how about Jamie Daniella I like the way that flows.
Amie... CONGRATULATIONS!! on your lil boy.. see that's what I am afraid of that I will told one thing then it turns out to be another. What made them give you another u/s?
Thanks everyone!!! I am 17w1 day for those u/s pics (yesterday). Thanks for updating MrsTazlvr.
I'm not sure if yall remember, but we were given the 95% girl by a specialist at 12 weeks. I was having trouble believing it that early, but he was so sure it was a girl and said 'her' 'three lines' proved it. But yesterday, the new sono lady says it's a boy - and she's 95% sure! lol!
I have another sono in 2 weeks to confirm. I'm not buying anything until then!
BTW, if he stays a boy, we are naming him Samuel Andrew, but we will call him Sam
Well I lived on Tums, but I *tried* to avoid citrus, tomatoes, etc. I love Italian food, but the tomatoes, cheese, and garlic really set me off last time. I am really hoping it doesn't happen this time. I already have IBS and that's really enough stomach woes for one mommy to take. ;) I hope you find relief soon. :(
Updated to here.
I am adding all of the u/s pics that everyone is sharing right now, but I am realizing that even with the extra space I left (several blank posts), there won't be room for everyone's u/s pics because I can only post a few images per post per CC rules. Right now we can leave them all there, but I think that once we all start getting more u/s pics, we are going to have to limit it to one u/s pic on the main page per person. I am so sorry to have to do this, but there is no other way to fit all the pics in because of CC's rules. I just wanted to give an early heads up. :(
MrsTazlvr, I think that Daniella Jordan is my favorite combination. I like how it is a soft name and a hard name, if that makes any sense.
Yes, that makes sense to me. Thanks for your vote. Keep the votes coming, ladies. I am really stressing over this. So not good for the baby, huh?
MrsTavlvr ~ I changed my mind, now I like Daniella Jill (having voted for Daniella Jane before in your other thread!). :) I like having a multi-syllabic first name paired with a monosyllabic middle name.
For those who have had them already. :)
My upcoming u/s will be done at approx. 18 weeks (17 and a half really). One of DH's co-workers, whose wife is expecting as well, told him today that there is 'no way' we'll be able to tell the sex at 17-18 weeks.
Is this true? If so, I'm feeling kind of sad that we might not find out the gender, as we really DID want to know, and I doubt my insurance will cover a repeat u/s just to find out the sex. :(
chefker - I've read that you can tell the sex beginning at 16 weeks. I doubt your doctor would schedule you during that time if they knew there was 'no way' you would be able to see the sex. (FTR, my doctor only schedules her u/s's between 18-20 weeks.) Hopefully those who've already had u/s's can give you a better answer!
That's what my books say too! Plus, several ladies in this thread found out the gender at 16-17 weeks or thereabouts. DH's co-worker was saying that the baby is too small to see anything.
Umm...I know how big the baby is supposed to be at this stage. Also, one of my friends (who has a girl and a boy) was telling me, if it IS a boy, you will KNOW, because their....ahem....twig & berries appear humongous! :)
Anyway, DH is down after hearing this, but maybe I should just tell him his co-worker is a pessimist.
Amie- WOW !!! I can't believe that Grace is a boy!!! Congrats and welcome to the all boys club! p/s I friended you on lj :) - Love Sam!!
Julie - I have probably piled on a few more lbs since my appt but I had been so sick the dr was happy that I had gained. With T I didnt gain till about 20 weeks then it was 10lbs in 2 weeks - my dr almost fell over! Not sure but very well could have something to do with ice cream :D
Yoga - So glad to hear that you had a good time in Seattle. My Sil and her hubby live there. They moved from Marin and love it. I would love to be able to get out of here eventually - we actually want to go back to Marin but that is like going from the frying pan to the fire as far as housing and costs go. You are right this has been the longest 10 days of my life - I cannot wait for Friday to get here to know that everything is ok... I go from being ok and thinking positive to just being worried sick. LOVE Reece! Dh is going to be ecstatic with your pick! Totally understand you feeling guilty and not wanting to talk about your pg with your friend - hopefully her dh will figure it out soon and get it together. I remember
Glad to hear that everyone is starting to feel a bit better - from the m/s anyway! I am basically in the same boat with you guys feeling better with occasional bouts of nausea etc..
chefker - I definitely think the co-worker is being a pessimist. We saw the 'twig and berries' at 12.5 weeks, though my ob said that is really early. The parts are developed that early though. You should definitely be able to tell at this point in pg, unless your baby is not cooperating. It should not be a matter of whether the baby is too small.
Also, my ob and fetal medicine specialst told me they sometimes like to do the u/s around 18-20 weeks to get a great view of the heart. It had nothing to do with whether the sex parts were visible. Chin up...I bet you will get the info you want :D
chefker~ I agree with everyone else. I had my other u/s's around 17 -18 weeks and I found out with all of them. This is the first time we are waiting until almost 21 weeks but that was because of the Dr's schedule. :rolleyes:
Amie~ WOW, what a surprise! Congrats on your BOY! Good thing you found out now instead of at delivery! :eek:
MrsTazlvr~ I have to say I like Daniella Jordan too!
I'm finally starting to feel big, I'm scared to see how much I weigh at my next appt. I have lost three pounds since becoming pg so I know it's about time I start putting on the weight. I'm sure I will make up for it the rest of the way. :rolleyes:
I asked was an u/s schedule also and was told that since I had one last month (due to spotting) that my doctor put in my files that my next one would after this appointment. Which means September :mad: DH and I had our hopes up, when we get there I'll run by my doctor and see what he says but if not it will be another month of waiting.
Yeah I hope we can get too, I actually had 3 u/s back to back one at 8 week, the other at 12 weeks b/c they couldn't hear the heartbeat too well through the doppler then again when I was spotting.
He's pretty cool though so if they are not booked up for u/s that day I'll see if we can do it. To my knowledge it's not dangerous to have alot of u/s right?
Thanks, MrsTazlvr!
I can't get over all the BOYS around here! Where are the little girls? Must be something in the water.
Y'all, this kid has been moving up a storm! I had my regular OB appointment Monday, and he could barely get the h/b because Baby was so active. My OB actually started laughing and said, "Wow! That's one wild baby you've got there!" So it looks like we might have our hands full after this little one arrives. ;)
Anyone else having dizzy spells/shortness of breath? I've been having spells of dizziness and shortness of breath in the mornings fairly often, and it's starting to get annoying. I plan on mentioning it to my doctor, but I thought I'd see what you ladies have experienced.
Also, anyone care to share how much weight they've gained? At 21 weeks, I'm up 15 pounds, and I'm a little nervous I'm gaining too much too soon. My doctor doesn't seem overly concerned, but he did tell me to cut down on carbs if I'm worried. Huh. Anyone? I'm worried I'm way too big for this point in my pregnancy. Strangers on the street are already remarking on my tummy! Is it normal to be visibly showing at this point?
And here's a recent belly shot at 20w2d:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/umbetsy/IMG_0028.jpg
DH and I spent this past weekend in New Orleans to celebrate our anniversary, and this was taken in the lobby of our hotel. Sorry, you can't see my tummy that well in this shot....I'll take some "real" belly shots later this week.
Hope everyone is doing well!
ETA: chefker, we clearly saw the sex of our baby at 16w4d, no question. If it's a girl, it might be a little bit harder to tell for sure, but I'll bet you won't have any problems at your u/s.
I'm not sure where all the girls are, but I have a feeling I have one of them. We find out for sure tomorrow, but since the U/S a few weeks ago didn't have a penis, I am still thinking girl.
DH really wants a boy this time, but I am kinda liking the girl idea. I went to a Children's Place today and for $1.99 each I got the cutest matching 4th of July shirts for DD and the baby if it's a girl. I couldn't resist. Then it dawned on me how much fun it will be to not only dress up another girl, but to be able to dress them alike. :D
Betsy, I'm glad you found us!
I'm not sure how much I've gained at this point (I don't actually own a scale). I'll get weighed next week at 18 weeks. Last appt at 14 weeks, I was only up 2 or 3 pounds. I've actually been worried that I'm not gaining enough weight. :o I think you look right on target for half way (cute dress btw). I'm at the point where you can definately see a bump if you know to look, and I'm a few weeks behind you.
My DH is really bummed out as he had his heart set on a girl. I would have liked one too, but was so happy to see our little guy and how everything measured perfectly. It kind of rained on my parade that he is not excited at this point. I really need some encouragement from all of you mommies expecting boys, because it was not what was expected and I really need to now get excited about having a son!! ACK! Congratulations on your boy, KRL626! I can kind of relate to your post in that I was totally expecting to have a girl. Not because I was "feeling" girl with this pregnancy or anything, but because I just always figured I'd have girls. I think of myself as a "girl mom," ya know? So when I found out I was having a son, it kinda rocked my idea of what parenthood was going to be like. I know what to do with little girls -- you fix hair and play Barbies and dress-up -- but what do I do with a boy?
But I have to tell you that I am so in love with this little boy, I can't imagine a room filled with girls! You'll get used to the idea, and before you know it, you'll be looking forward to making mud pies and catching bugs in the backyard. :)
Betsy - So glad you found us. You look BEAUTIFUL! I wouldn't worry at all about your gain. You are over half-way, and have gained 15...considering you should gain about 30 total. That sounds perfect. I know it can be disconcerting getting used to the scale going up, but just remember that its all temporary. :D You will probably lose all of it afterwards. I actually ended up smaller than before pg with R, and didn't really work out. So, this time I'm trying not to stress about the weight too much...though I still have my moments.
Oh, my belly is really big y'all. I am not exaggerating either. I am carrying all in front and look like I shoved a watermelon up my shirt. I will get DH to take a picture tonight. I definitely look bigger than I did at 20 weeks with R.
KRL - Congratulations on your Boy! I can understand what you are going through, but I think that you soon will be excited. Before I had R, I had dreamed about having little girls - especially since I had grown up with boys (2 brothers) my whole life. Then I found out he was a boy, and my 'vision' of what motherhood would be like had to change. I got excited and bought cute boy baby clothes, but was definitely wistful for the little dresses, etc. Once he was born and I got to know him, I couldn't imagine things having worked out differently. He is absolutely perfect for my family and I can't imagine loving a child more. Wasn't what I expected, but in the end I feel like the 'man upstairs' knew better what was right for me. It might not happen overnight, but the shock will wear off and by time that little guy is in your arms...you will be thrilled beyond belief.
Which leads me to relate to Cori
I also really wanted to balance out my family with one of each...and finally get that little girl. After I had a boy dream early on, and felt deep down it was a boy, I was really sad. I realized that things probably weren't going to work out according to my 'perfect' idea. Then we went through all the drama over the ultrascreen false positive. Of course, that changed my perspective and all I wanted was for him to be OK. Again, I have readjusted my idea of what my family will be like. I am honestly really excited to have 2 little guys so close in age now. I can't wait for them to be buddies and grow up together. Do I still want a girl someday...sure. But I am now happy with what I will have. I think its tough changing your perspective, but also admitting that you are a little disappointed. I believe it all works out the way it is supposed to. Just my opinion...sorry for the novel.
I found this bag that I really like -
Babystyle Diaper Bag (http://www.babystyle.com/common/dProductDetail.asp?PMId=18274&SIND=1&dept=3&cmCL=maternitydept-diaperbags&cmPG=)
I normally don't buy nice purses, so I feel like $70 might be high for a diaper bag. I don't know!! I'm conflicted :rolleyes:
I still haven't felt much in the moving department. I've felt flutters, but I'm waiting for a full on kick!
So far I'm up 6.5 pounds. Since I'm plus size to begin with - my dr. wants me to keep it around 15-20 pounds. Not sure if that will happen!
I just scheduled my first pregnancy massage for tomorrow morning!! I can't wait. My back and shoulders have been hurting lately, so it should help.
Has anyone gone for a pregnancy massage yet?
Jackie&Tom, I had a pregnancy massage this past weekend, and honestly, I was kind of "eh" on it. It was nice and all, but not as great as the regular massages I've gotten in the past. And it wasn't like I wasn't in a nice place -- I was at the spa at the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans! My main complaint was when the masseuse worked on my back, he had me just lie on my side, and he wasn't able to use much pressure. I think some prenatal massages use a special table where the expectant mom can lie flat on her tummy, but that wasn't the case with me.
Not that it sucked or anything -- it was nice and relaxing! Just not very deeply relaxing, if that makes sense.
Betsy - How was the anniversary weekend - that was from lj right? :D I am not on your fl there so I didnt get any details but I sure hope that you had a fabulous time!!!! You look great in the pix and I wouldnt worry about weight #'s at all.. I gained 45lbs with T and it was so fun... Ice cream every night ate whatever I wanted - loved it - I did end up losing all but about 2 lbs after too and I hate to admit it but since T I really have not worked out at all. So enjoy yourself - you look wonderful!!
Pg Mssg - Totally agree with Betsy on this!!! I have not had one this time yet but did have several with T. They were all just so-so and all from nice places!! I think they are just too worried to use enough pressure on you. Toward the end I seemed to enjoy a facial more than a massage. I hope I am wrong about yours and that the table makes the difference! pg massage - I have to agree with Betsy & Tsmom . I have had a couple pg massages, and have never walked away with that wonderfully relaxed feeling. They really haven't massaged very deep. One thing I am curious to try is a watsu massage, which they do with you floating in a pool. A resort we like to visit in San Diego has them, and recommends them for pregnant women.
Belly shot - OK, here is my 20 week belly shot that DH took last night. Now, be honest...does my belly look abnormally huge? I have little lines on my side from laying on it (thank God no stretch marks yet...but at this rate, I might get some this time).
Yoga - you do no look abnormally large but you are right - you have that little boy right in front of ya!! I think you look great! I am hoping that will happen with this little guy b/c with T I carried her all over and I felt huge - ok myabe it was the 45lbs :)
We are remodeling - I dont know what we were thinking but we are in the midst of it. All new hardwood floors in the liv,din,fam and kitchen. Tore out a wall between the family room and the kitchen and completly gutted the kitchen. We also filled in the sunken living room (which we called the pit - b/s the sunken part was like 4' below the other room - perfect for a toddler to break things - like arms and legs). So needless to say.....a war zone~~!
Ohhhh the watsu, pool float sounds great!!! I could use that right now! Hope you all have a great weekend - I have no idea where our computer is let along the dsl line!!!
The spa near me offers pregnancy massage too. I'd love to get one, but not if they go 'too gentle' on me, KWIM? Maybe a facial & pedicure would be nice though!
I am having GIRL DREAMS up the yin-yang lately! Had yet another one last night where I was having the u/s, and the tech told me "It's a girl!"
I wonder if my dreams actually 'mean' something, or if it's just my subconscious playing tricks on me. :) The big u/s is this Monday, so hopefully we will find out either way then! I think once we determine the gender, we're going to order a crib. There is a beautiful 'girly' crib I like if it's a girl; and, a saw a nautical looking 'boy' crib, if it's a boy.
My energy levels are S L O W L Y increasing. It's about time! I'm tired of feeling so TIRED. My yardwork is suffering, I just haven't felt like doing any weeding. I'm going to get out there right now and start on that, since it's blissfully cooler out today.
J&K2003, I've been having some major round ligament pain, too. If I cough, sneeze or change positions too quickly, I'll get shooting pains down the sides of my tummy in the low part of my abdomen. Not comfy.
Me too, I also get them when I rollover quickly or stand up quickly. The last time I had it was sore for quite awhile, like a pulled muscle.
chefker~ good luck with your U/S tomorrow.
terrys wifey~ I hope your Dr lets you have your U/S tomorrow. That would really suck to have to wait another month.
tsmom~ wow, you are brave to take on all that work while pg. I thought it was bad enough just moving but then to remodel at the same time. You are one tough woman!
yoganut and Betsy~ your bellys look so cute and yet so different.
Well I can't believe the day is almost here. Tomorrow will be a long day just because I can't wait for Tues. Chefker when I was pg with my DD I had one dream about the sex before I found out and it was a girl. I could see exactly what she looked like, she had dark black hair. My two boys both came out blond so it was totally opposite of what I have had in the past. When she was born she looked just like the baby in my dream, so I think dreams can mean something. I'm curious to see if yours is right!
Betsy ~ I have the webpage bookmarked at home for that nautical crib (I'm at work now). I'll hunt it down for you later though!
J&K ~ Yup, I'm having that round ligament pain too. Along with a host of other aches & pains, I feel like I'm falling apart these days! :)
Nikkid ~ I'm curious too, to see if my girl dreams mean anything! :) That's funny about your dreams, and how things actually turned out.
I cannot concentrate for crap today, since the ultrasound is this afternoon! I'm leaving the office at 1:00. That'll give me time to get home, guzzle some water (they said to drink only 1-2 glasses, which isn't bad), and then DH will take me to the u/s for 3:00.
I'm having that stupid round ligament pain, along with OTHER weird pains--today my left heel is killing me, every time I take a step, and I ALSO have a shooting pain in my collarbone. Ugh. I did kind of bust my butt weeding on Saturday, so maybe I just overdid things and strained something. I've been hurting since Saturday, so I probably just did too much!
Wow, I was only gone for 3 days and I feel like I missed a ton! My little vacation was good. The baby either loved or hated the plane, because I was feeling some crazy movement. The weather Friday was bad, so the ride was pretty bumpy and I was getting lots of kicks.
Congrats on the girl, MrsTazlvr! I'm sure it'll be a blast having two little girls.
chefker, good luck with your u/s today. I can't only imagine how much you're dying right now. I will be in the same boat on Wednesday!
yoganut, great belly! I think you look cute for halfway there. You're not much bigger than me, and I'm only 18 weeks.
I know I'm missing a bunch, but it took me so long to read everything that I now have to get back to work.
It's funny how Dr's offices differ. I have my appt at 1:00 tomorrow and at 11:00 I have to empty my bladder and then drink 32oz of water between 11:00-12:00, and then hold it until the U/S. I learned my lesson the last two times and did not drink that much water because I was in serious pain until the tech told me I could go to the bathroom. :rolleyes:
For my regular OB I would have had to drink the 32 oz before the u/s. Like you, the first time when I had an u/s with DD I was miserable because I had been drinking all day and never really emptied my bladder before the 32 oz. Thank G-d I had my u/s at the perinatologist last week because their u/s is a level 2 and you don't have to drink for it. It is torture when you have such a full bladder and have to lay on the table with them pushing the u/s wand on your belly. I had that for this pregnancy when I had an u/s at 7 weeks and I didn't even get to enjoy it because I was in such pain. :rolleyes:
We started registering on Saturday! That wore me out. We're holding off on registering for clothes (layette) until about two weeks before our shower.
I think I ate some bad food on Saturday afternoon b/c I got sick that night and all day Sunday. I was so miserable. I'm feeling better this morning, so I hope it's over!
J&k - I have round ligament pain, too. But mostly when I change positions, sneeze, cough, etc. It's just a shooting pain and then it's gone.
I posted last week about my u/s tech being kind of wishy washy on the results of my u/s (saying I was there too early, etc.)
My dr. wants me to go for a follow up to see the heart better. I go on Tuesday, August 30th for another u/s!! I really excited. I'm hoping this tech (we're going to a different center) will feel more confident about our baby being a boy. Everyone that looks at the pic says, "oh yeah, boy 100%".
Good luck with all this weeks u/s!! I am also excited to see the results. Maybe girls will start to catch up with our boy count :)
Okay ladies.... I had a very busy day today, first DH and I took our son to school for his first day, then to the post office, to the grocery store to get me some ginger ale b/c I was having one of my gagging moments.
We finally arrive at the doctor office and I am more then relieved b/c I was walking in BIG time discomfort with a full bladder.
We were finally called in the office and the ususal was done blood pressure and look over my file. B/P was good 120/80 all of my blood work for the Spina Bifida and Downs came back good.
So my doctor asked me how was and how was everything going, I said great we're really excited today to find out the sex of our baby (mind you the receptionist told me he wrote down in my file not to have another u/s until my next visit) so he starts to look over my file and says yeah I see you had your last one a month ago, well I think we can do one today come with me and I'll put you in the room. :D
We go in and the process begins, the tech looked over "everything" the head, spine, stomach, kidneys, heart making sure all 4 chambers were there, counting fingers and toes. So the next thing we know she turns off the monitor and says okay everything looks perfect.
So we're like ummm did you see the sex of the baby? :confused: She says Oh!!! I totally forgot :rolleyes: let's see if we can see something so it took awhile b/c the baby had it's legs closed so she finally got the the spot and saw what she needed to see and she said that she is 90% sure we are having a................................................. .........
GIRL!!!!!
I thought my husband was going to kiss the tech he was sooo happy!!! :p :D
I on the other hand was so skeptical b/c this tech just doesn't seem to be I don't know the right word to use. I guess I am so paranoid
that maybe she didn't get a good look and we'll end up having a boy.
Anyway DH and I left the office on cloud 9, and we go to get some breakfast and to look at some cribs and of course clothes. We're crusing along and the next thing I know we get pulled over by the police for speeding (doing 47 in a 30 zone)
So we give the registration and license and he asks DH so where are you going in such a rush? My DH beaming from ear to ear says we're going to breakfast sir, we just came from the doctor office and found out we were having a girl. I'm sorry I didn't realize I was driving so fast.
So the police said congratulations and just gave us a verbal warning but gave the other driving behind us a ticket. :o
After breakfast to look at cribs and clothes and found the Aspen 4-n-1 crib at Walmart so we got it, we walked in the baby section and I went crazy and had the cart full of clothes of course I am keeping my receipt just in case there's that 10% chance we'll see a little penis at the next u/s.
terrys wifey, congratulations on your GIRL!!!! YAY!
I met with my high risk OB this morning for our fetal echocardiogram, and the baby looks wonderful. His heart is perfect, and he's measuring right on target. We are very relieved that everything appears to be going so well, physically speaking. The doctor told us if he were unaware of our genetic history, he would tell us we were having a perfectly normal pregnancy. I liked hearing that. :)
I go back in five weeks for another u/s check, just to make sure things continue to go as well as they are now. We are so thankful that our little boy seems to be healthy.
I'm here! Quick post--it's been a long day, and I'm dead tired, but I wanted to let everyone know.....it's a BOY!!!
At least we think it is. :) I wasn't 100% confident because BOTH the doc and the u/s tech kept saying 'the legs are crossed....it's hard to tell'. Finally they let me pee (thank GOD), and the baby moved around a bit, and the u/s tech was able to focus in on some 'bits.' :) I can't see it, but she says it's a boy! DH was actually able to go to my appt. He was just amazed at seeing the baby up on the screen. :)
I have a follow up u/s on 9/19, they want to take another look in a month. I hate being paranoid about the gender results--but I do have a friend who was told he was having a boy. His 'boy' is now a 13 year old girl. :D
Sorry no shout outs - just wanted to come in real quick and tell you about my final drs. appt. i had today. We move on Thursday!!! Close on our house this Friday, so lots of stuff going on.
My dr. received the results from the u/s and was disappointed to find that the cyst I have grew to 7 cm. from 4.5x5.
I asked him if I should have a c-section so they can remove it at the time of birth instead of waiting 6-8 weeks after the baby is born and he said that he would not recommend that because there would be a 75% chance I would lose my ovary that the cyst is attached to. If I wait 6-8 weeks after the baby is born I will only have a 50% chance of losing the ovary. He warned me to pay attention to any weird pains I have on the right side because these types of cysts are known to twist and turn around the ovary and that could cut off blood supply to the baby. :( Definitely not the news I wanted to hear that I may lose an ovary and that this cyst could potentially be dangerous to my baby. On the bright side he recommended a great dr. in our new city who specializes in these type of cases. I already made an appt. with them.
Please wish me lots of luck with our move. I don't know when I will be back on because the next week is going to be pure hell. I already told everyone that I will be the "director" of the move and Lily (our dog) is going to be the "inspector" since she likes to smell everything :D. We feel very lucky that our friends are being wonderful about this and helping us out with the move.
Karen - So sorry to hear the news about the cyst growing. Hopefully the new Dr. will be able to shed more light on the proceedure and cut down the risks. From someone who totally understands = try and take it easy while you move. Rely on your friends and try to relax some. I will be thinking about you and I know it is way too easy to do too much!
ChefKer - Congrats on your baby boy! The u/s pix look fantastic. It is amazing to see all the babies sucking their thumbs - look at that perfect hand :)! You dh must have been ecstatic to see the baby!
Betsy- When T was first born I bougt a great little sail boat that hangs on the side of her crib and plays row row row your boat when she pulls the anchor. It does not match her room at all but we are big sailors and I just loved it. I got it from potter barn kids - will see if I can find it again!
Just got back from my U/S and Dr appointment. Baby looks great, measured at 20w 4d and is 14oz so almost a pound! I was a little ticked at first because I had to wait about 30 min before they came and got me and boy did I need to pee! As soon as I layed down I felt much better. So the first thing the tech asks us is if we want to find out the sex and of course we both blurted out yes. So immediately when she put the wand on my belly she zoomed right in and much to my surprise it is a....................................
BOY!!!!!
I was in complete shock because I was so positive it was a girl. Here I was calling him a her the whole time, poor guy. I was just slightly bummecd because I thought it would be nice for Kaitlyn to have a sister but now she will have 3 brothers to protect her from all her b/f's. :D DH was excited and felt the same as me, it would have been nice to have two of each but we are excited to have another boy also. So now we have the challenge of picking out a name. We had such a difficult time with our first DS so I don't know how we will pick out one for this one. I did get a bunch of pics but I don't have a scanner so I won't be able to post. :( They are so cute though, I also have one with his hand up to his mouth. DH thought it looked like he was chugging some liquids. :rolleyes: Maybe I can find a way to post them.
Congrats to everybody who has found out so far!!
I've been absent because I am super stressed. Throwing up seems to be increasing. I don't even want to guess who much weight I'll have lost at my next appointment. The Zofran does nothing at all. Coke, which used to settle my stomach nicely now makes me barf if I drink it too fast. I'm sure i should be drinking more water but that makes me barf too. Pretty much the only that does lead to throwing up is a very small meal, eaten very slowly. Today I pretty much only ate fruit, oh and two mini danishes. ;) I'm not worried that baby is getting short changed, it's just that I'm not getting as many hours at work as i should. I either come in late or have to leave early.
The other big stresser is that DH is really unhappy at work. We moved and he took a new job just before we found out that we were pregnant. The new job sucks and now we're sort of stuck. We've been looking at different jobs for him, but it's hard and he's so unhappy that he can't think clearly about what he needs and wants from a new job.
This pregnancy just isn't going the way I thought it would. I didn't realize I'd feel crappy the whole time and wouldn't be able to just sit back and think lovely thoughts about baby room decor and the merits of one stroller over another. Sigh!
sophonisba9 - Sorry the m/s is so bad for you. :( If it's not one thing, it's another, or at least it seems that way in my pregnancy so far!
********************
And welcome to the second trimester for me. First tri was mostly constantly feeling like I was going to barf, or I would just have dry heaves. Lovely. It seems like I had 2 or 3 GOOD weeks--now I'm having massive heartburn, and even worse--chronic sinus congestion. :(
I've read that sometimes the nasal passages swell during pregnancy, which is just ducky on top of my ragweed allergy! Is anyone else suffering from congestion too? I know I probably sound like a crybaby, but I seriously can't breathe at ALL--and last night woke up choking half to death on mucus. Blech. Finally I took some Afrin spray, which did help. I know it's easy to overdo that stuff though, a friend of mine actually became addicted to it, and I DO NOT want that to happen!
I don't want to have to take Claritin every day while I'm pregnant either--but I HAVE to be able to breathe! I've been taking Claritin maybe every other day, or every two days; and I only use the Afrin if I have trouble breathing in the middle of the night. I hope this is just a 'phase' that will end soon, because it's just so scary not being able to breathe while you're sleeping!
I still can't get used to saying "her" instead of "it." :D
sophonisba9, I'm sorry to hear that you're so sick. Also sorry to hear about your DH's job situation. We're a bit in the same boat. My DH got a job a couple weeks after our BFP (he was unemployed at the time of the BFP). He's not real happy in his job, either. To make matters worse, the company isn't all that stable. But it's all we've got for now. I hope things start to look up for your DH.
chefker, ahhh, the stuffy nose. That is my pregnancy curse as well. I must go through a box of kleenex every few days. I've been taking Sudafed, but I feel bad taking it too often. Mostly I just sit at work and suffer. I'm really sick of it, but I've kind of come to accept that I could very well be like this for the next 5 months. :(
ETA: My next regular appointment is Sept 20th.
Elladee Much congrats on your little GIRL now my lil girl has a partner on here :)
Did they give you a % of assurance? Mine was 90% that it is a girl.
Sophonisba9.. I am sorry that you are having a rough time with the pregnancy is there another medication your doctor can Rx? I am praying that you DH finds something he likes and is happy with.
Keeping you and your family in my prayers.
Take care :)
The tech said she was 99.9% sure it's a girl. I was pretty happy with that, till this morning when one of the guys at work said the tech was about that sure his boy was going to be a girl. (Lucky for them, the had another u/s a month or so later and found out the mistake.) That upset me for a few minutes, but I've decided that I'm going to forget he said that, and just go with what the tech thought.
Here are my u/s pictures (Mods:feel free to just use the full body shot on the first page):
Yea!! Congrats on everyone finding out the gender! Especially those of you who are (finally) having girls!
sophonisba9: I'm sorry you're really suffering thru your pregnancy. I don't think I'd be very happy either :(
chefker: I had extreme stuffiness thru the whole 1st trimester; I had to keep insisting to my patients that it was baby related, not a cold! Then, it spontaneously resolved... here's hoping for a quick resolution for you!
In other news, I finally felt the baby move the other night (I think). Then, last night, I was really feeling it. I tried to feel it from the outside and couldn't, but I did tell DH who was sitting there with me what I was feeling. He put his hand on my belly for a while, and nothing. :( But I told him he could keep his hand there if he wanted to (I wanted to get back to watching Alton Brown :p ). About 5 min later, baby started squirming again, and gave a good swift kick or punch right to daddy's hand. It was SO COOL!!! He looked at me and said agahst, "was that the baby???" I got all teary and nodded. The baby kicked around a bit more after that, but then he was done. It was really nice to feel something after all this time. I feel so behind!
elladee - Congrats on your baby GIRL! That's great that there is a little more pink in our group!
sophonisba9 - I am so sorry that this pg isn't an enjoyable experience. I have had a few friends with extreme m/s, and it just sounds like the most miserable experience. I think one of them ended up taking a different medication from zofran. Maybe you could ask if there are other options? ((HUGS)) Hang in there!
chefker - That really sucks that your sinuses are acting up. I hear you on being concerned about getting addicted to Afrin. My g-ma was, and it really freaked me out. I hope you find something that works for you!
Jen - That's great that your DH felt the baby! Mine did this morning for the first time...though I think his issue has been patience. He never kept his hand on my belly long enough. ;)
I felt the craziest thing in the middle of the night. I was laying on my back in bed, and my belly was soft. Then, I felt the baby wedged way up high (I think my uterus is above my belly button now). I put my hand on it, and felt what I am almost certain was a foot wedged at the top. It was hard, and about an inch long. I pushed on it and then R2 moved! So fun!
I haven't been in here in a while, but do try to read when I can. Life has been super busy.
I'll be 18 weeks on Friday, and we had another ultrasound last Friday. The doctor said he was sure we've got a little boy and a little girl. We are so excited. After that, I took the liberty of doing some shopping for our little girl, and of course added to Caden and our little boys closet. EXPENSIVE. We have another ultrasound scheduled for the 30th, an over all everything is going well.
We are pretty set with another crib and car seat, just need the odd items like sheets, bottle nipples, and things like that. Time sure is flying. I'll be cutting my hours at work shortly to help with my fatigue.
Glad to see everyone else is doing well. Keep those babies growing. :)
Mrs. Puls~ Nice to see you in there and congrats on the boy/girl combo! I check in on you on the twins thread every now and then. Glad you are feeling well and keep us updated on your progress!
Elladee - Congrat on baby Girl :p You are just going to love having a little princess. Beautiful pix of that little girl :)
sophonisba9~ So sorry to hear that you are still suffering from m/s... I feel so bad for you - there is nothing worse than that icky feeling. I am sorry that DH is not enjoying his new job. Hopefully he will find something new soon so that you guys can relax a bit. I crossing my fingers that you start feeling better so you can enjoy your pg!
Chefker - Elladee - add me to your list of stuffy noses! It is driving me nuts and really making it hard to sleep. Normally I take Allegra but I have been trying to hold off since I have been pg. Poor DD think she has my allergies as well. This am she could not stop sneezing and her little face was so swollen. We should all invest in some Kleenex company!
Jen~Yoga - congrats on your dh's finally feeling the kicks! I think that makes it really "real" for the guys. Jen - we love Alton Brown - bought DH his dvd set for fathers day last year....
Ali - did you see that pix floating around the internet of the pg ladies belly with the perfect foot sticking out... You remind me of it - not sure if it was real or computer generated but it did look amazing!
***
nothing really new here - sick of take out food and dry wall dust (probably not helping with the allergies and sneezing). Have my big u/s and I finally get to see my ob on Monday. (weird I have only had 1 dr. appt and my amnio so far).
Hope everyone else is doing well - have a great day!
Just 4 more days until our big u/s!! I'm getting so excited!
chefker - I feel for you re: the heartburn!! My doc prescribed me Nexium when I was downing at least 12 Tums a day to deal with my heartburn. So far, Nexium's working pretty well. I've gotten heartburn a few times while on it, but that was b/c I ate a trigger food. Sorry about the congestion, too. I haven't had to deal with that yet - just typical allergies. My doc said it was ok to take Claritin daily, but I really haven't needed to.
elladee - cute u/s pics! :)
Jen309 - That is such a cute story! Awww... I can't wait for my DH to feel the baby move.
yoganut - How cool! I keep feeling on my belly hoping to feel the outside of the baby, but I have no idea what I'm feeling.
MrsPuls - Congrats on your boy/girl combo! You have a matched set now. :)
tsmom - We are u/s twins! :) Our u/s is also on Monday.
Thanks for the sympathy everyone. It's so nice to have such great support. things really could be worse for me. I'm not nauseated much. i just throw up. Mornings are kinda generally icky, but that's mostly being tired and not being a morning person. :rolleyes: afternoons are much better and except for a sort of two minute warning of impending vomiting, I'm ok most of the day. I actually called today to see if there was anything else they prescribe, but the doctor's assitant said it was either zofran tablets or iv zofran in the hospital. Definitely don't need to be in the hospital so I guess I get to deal with the vomiting on my own.
I had my first moments of pregnancy brain this week. I totally screwed up the dates and we ended up showing up on tuesday for a baseball game that had been played on monday and then today I found out that my scrapbook class wasn't Thursday night it had been wednesday night. Even worse, my friend missed the class too because I told her it was on thursday. I need to call and see if they will give us credit towards another class.
Very excited about the big ultrasound next week.
sophonisba9~ Glad that the nauseated feeling is kinda going away ...that was the worse for me. I was ok if I could throw up and feel better it was just the feeling that I had to all the time that was the worse.
So funny about your pg brain -I had this BIG time with T.... my best trick was leaving the stove (gas and flame) on all day while I went to work - not once but twice! DH didnt know what to do with me so he made a little list and stuck it on the front door so I would see it when I left.. (stove off?, water off? coffee pot off? chothes on?) He thought he was really funny!
Jules - looking fwd to the big u/s to make sure baby parts are all there and working.. .hopefully we will get some good pix :)
I just lost my job on Friday. I went in to talk with my boss about cutting back at work a bit because I've been so tired and having lots of braxton hicks, and she asked me to leave. Basically upper management told her that I was to be fired when I asked to cut hours, and that they didn't have work for PT people. So in a nutshell, I was fired because I'm pregnant. Nice. She told me to go home and take care of myself and enjoy the pregnancy. Kinda hard to do when now I need to worry about paying the bills. I better get unemployment!!
I have a lead to work at home with West Business Services taking phone calls, so hopefully that will work out. I'm sure it won't pay what I was making, but anything is better than nothing.
MrsPuls~ Congrats on your boy/girl combo! I cannot believe your work fired you! I would think their would be some kind of legal action you could take? You should definately be able to get unemployment. I hope this other job works out for you. If not try not to stress about it, I know easier said than done, but I'm sure everything will work out. Take care of those babies! :D
sophonisba9~ I'm so sorry to hear that you've been so sick and haven't been able to enjoy this pregnancy. I'm glad it's not that bad that you would need to be hospitalized with an IV but I sure hope it will ease up for you. Sorry to hear your DH isn't happy with his job either. My DH was in a situation like that too, thankfully he is now in a job that he likes. It makes life at home much easier too. Hopefully things will work out for him.
Chefker~ I had really bad congestion and stuffy nose in the beginning too and now it has seemed to resolve itself. I did have a bad cold a few weeks ago and was on an antibiotic, don't know if that helped it or if it was just a coincidence but my nose has been better since. Hope you find some relief soon.
I still can't get used to saying "her" instead of "it
I know what you mean! I have a hard time referring to the baby as him. Mainly because I kept calling him a her. Sometimes I have to stop and think to call him a him when I'm referring to him. There, I just did a pretty good job. ;)
Well I have definately been feeling a lot more movement lately. I feel him every day now. The other night I was drinking a glass of ice water and every time I took a drink he would kick hard enough for me to feel him on the outside. So after the fifth time I had DH put his hand there and then of course he stopped. I'm getting a little nervous though, he seems to be active most in the late evenings and during the night. I hope that doesn't mean I'll have a night owl on my hands.
QOTD (since we haven't had one in awhile) If you are planning to b/f what type of pump do you plan on using?~ I'm considering b/f this time and I've been doing some research on women who have had breast reductions and b/f successfully so I'm kind of hopeful that I will be able to b/f. I would like to purchase a pump but I just don't know for sure if I will be able to b/f successfully. Anyone know of any cheap breast pumps I can buy just so it wouldn't be a waste of money in case I can't b/f?
MrsTazlvr
08-28-2005, 10:55 AM
Nikki~ I rented a pump from the hospital last time. All the parts that stored the milk, touched my breasts, etc. were new of course. It worked out great because BF didn't work for me last time so I wasn't out a lot of money. I think I will probably go that route again as I plan to try to BF with this one. I will then buy a pump if BF actually works for me this time.
Congrats on the all the boys and girls - this is so exciting and awesome!!!
The BIG u/s is TOMORROW!!! :D I'm so freaking excited!!!
Today we began the long process of cleaning out our second bedroom (in preparation for the nursery). The closet in that room has been home to a bunch of crap since the day we moved in. It was so nice to get it cleaned out. We need to paint the room, buy a new fan and window shades before we start setting up the room.
We bought our crib and mattress yesterday! We ended up buying a Babi Italia 3-in-1 crib - the "picket fences" style (can't find a pic of it online). We bought the Sealy Baby Soft Ultra spring mattress (that was recommended in Baby Bargains). DH put the crib together today. The mattress fits perfectly and we're really pleased with it!
QOTD - I plan to breastfeed and registered for the Avent Isis pump. I picked this one b/c I've read great reviews about it. It's a hand pump - since I will not be working, I figured I didn't need an electric pump. It's around $45 (I think).
MrsPuls - I'm so sorry to hear about your job! I'm pretty sure that firing you b/c you're pregnant is definitely illegal. You should investigate taking legal action against them - esp. if you have trouble finding a new job. I hope your lead works out though.
Nikki - Yay for feeling movement every day!! I was feeling movement at least every other day, but I haven't felt anything for the past 3 days. :( I know baby is ok b/c I have a fetal doppler (that I've been using a lot these past few days!). I wonder if the baby is in a position that makes it hard for me to feel anything?
Ole Miss Bride - I hope you are safe from Katrina! You and your family are in my thoughts!
Amie - Sorry about the kidney infection. Yikes! Glad to hear you are feeling better though.
jules1025-- YAY for ultrasounds tomorrow! I can't wait either!!
MrsPuls-- Your story about your (former) employer really ticked me off! My advice would be to investigate through HR and look into legal action. I'm pretty sure it is illegal to do what they did to you. :mad: :mad: :mad:
Amie-- Glad you're doing better. Whew!
MrsPuls ~ IA with the other ladies, what your job did to you was lousy, fight it if you can! Is this NOT the 21st century? :rolleyes:
On a happier note, congrats on your boy/girl twins! Woo hoo! I think this is the first mention of twins in our thead?
Betsy ~ thinking of you, please stay safe during the storm!
Amie ~ Sorry to hear about the kidney infection. :( Glad you're on the mend!
Jules ~ Best of luck at the u/s! So excited for you, and can't wait to hear the big news! :D
J&K ~ Darn, I missed the Gymboree sale! Too bad. I was at Kohl's this weekend, and saw TONS of cute things on clearance. It was hard, but I did restrain myself. I want to wait until my 2nd u/s before I go out and buy all sorts of blue clothing...even though we're fairly certain it's a boy, just call me overly cautious.
*************************
Quick post tonight ladies! I have to get to bed soon, as tomorrow I have to get to work super early--I'm taking some time off tomorrow, my mom is going in for a colonoscopy. Completely routine, but she is scared as HELL to have it done, seeing as her sister died from colon cancer. :( Fingers crossed that everything goes well...
I am completely in love with this little being growing inside me! I don't know WHAT has come over me this week, but I just feel more 'connected.' Like I really FEEL pregnant now, or something. Which sounds so dumb, like the m/s, dry heaves, sinus crap, and heartburn weren't enough of a tip-off...lol. It is feeling 'thick' around my middle now--harder to bend over to tie my shoes, etc. (and I know THAT will get worse....). Maybe that's what's making me feel 'more' pregnant now than before. I'm making NO sense at all, I am sure!
Lately I am talking to my belly and addressing it as 'Harry.' :) For those who may have missed it, I had started a name thread with a poll--DH and I were torn between Jack William and Harrison James (nn Harry), for a baby name. Obviously, Harry is finding more favor with me lately....lol. DH said "well I guess his name is going to be Harry!" :D So...nothing's written in stone yet, but Harrison is definitely finding favor with both of us lately!
Speaking of baby names......I have already had 2 polls going to help choose a name. DH changed his mind half way through the first poll and decided to go with a J name instead of a D name. I started a new poll and got everyone's opinion. Now DH has decided that he really wants to go with the D name so we have decided on Daniella. The problem now is deciding between Daniella Jamie and Daniella Jessica. I can't start another poll as I feel silly already and I don't want people to get tired of me. :o Can you ladies please let me know which one you like so I can at least get an idea of opinions? Thanks a million ladies. :)
Which do you like better?
Geeze, I missed a whole bunch!
MrsPuls, congrats on your two little one! A boy and a girl, how exciting. I can't believe your work did that to you.
Betsy, I'm thinking of you guys, too. I hope you all are safe.
Jules, Ultrasound Day!!!!! I hope it goes well for you.
chefker, I feel more pregnant now, too. It really is a neat thing we are going through.
MrsTazlvr, I like Daniella Jamie better as long as Jamie doesn't clash with your last name.
QOTD, I'm planning on bfing, but I haven't thought much about pumps yet. I'm going to take the full 3 months off before I head back to work, so I may go with a smaller hand pump at first to see if everything works ok and then buy a more heavy duty one if I need it.
Well, the u/s was a little disappointing. :( We are not certain what the gender is, but the tech said there's an 85% chance it's a GIRL. We have another u/s scheduled for 9/27 to check again. DH and I are referring to the baby as "her" though, until we are told otherwise! I guess my intuition was dead WRONG!! LOL! I totally thought it was going to be a boy. But, I'm getting excited about a girl! :D I just wish we knew for sure.
On the bright side, all of the u/s measurements were completely normal. The baby is developing right on target! And, our triple screen results are negative as well. :) I was really happy to see the baby moving in the u/s b/c I haven't been feeling her move around very much lately.
The u/s pics aren't very good b/c the baby was in such a weird position, but I'll scan a few later today and post them.
J&K - I hope your u/s goes much better than mine! Can't wait to hear what you're having!
Awww, Jules, that's too bad that they couldn't tell for sure. At least they are giving you another u/s, though. I would have been SOL. The only way I'd have gotten a second was if they couldn't get a clear picture of something vital that they needed to measure. Apparently telling the sex isn't vital. :rolleyes: Glad to hear that everything is measuring normal!
Jules - Sorry you weren't able to get a more diffinitive answer! I'm glad they were able to schedule another u/s though!
MrsTazlvr - I like Daniella Jessica. Don't know why - I just do :)
J&K2003 - I was almost late for work today looking at the Gymboree website!! I've never looked at their clothes before - SO CUTE!!!!
chefker - How was your mom's procedure??? My dad had one a few years ago and was really nervous too. No problems though (well, at least with the test itself)! Hope it went well. I'm sure she's glad you were there :)
QOTD - I plan to rent a pump from the hospital. I really hope bf'ing works out for me, it's something I want to do. I'll be home for 3 months, but then I have to go back to work. So I'll need to store up!
Is everyone feeling movement?? Still no kicks for me, but I have been feeling the quickening for about a week. My dr. said it's completely normal, that some women don't feel kicks until the later 20 weeks. I'm kind of bummed - I want the really kicks :)
We have our first class at the hospital tonight. Really, it's just an orientation. Tour the hospital (which I can't wait to see the rooms, etc.) and pre register. I'm such a planner - doing these things makes me feel better!
Tomorrow, we're going for our follow up u/s. I'm hoping they get a better reading on the boy parts so we can be sure. We already bought a couple blue lamps and registered for boy clothes! Everyone that has seen the origninal u/s says, "Oh yea, 100% boy!". We'll see what this tech says.
A couple of weeks ago we bought our crib and changing table. We're going to paint in a few weeks then set up the furniture. I can't wait :)
MrsTazlvr
Jules~ Bummer that they couldn't tell for sure, but at least you get another u/s in a few weeks. Both of our girls were 80% girls for my first u/s and reconfirmed at the next one. ;)
elladee~ I have the same thing, only one u/s, but since they couldn't see a few parts at my u/s a few weeks ago, I get to have another one next week. When I had DD #1 I was high risk and I got to have u/s every month. I am glad I am not high risk this time, but I do miss having the u/s so often. ;)
chefker~ I hope all is well with your mom. I had a colonoscopy a few years ago and it wasn't that bad. I was knocked out for it. The worst part was the drink you have to drink the night before to clean out your system. Let's just say my poor butt was raw after that. :(
Kate - Welcome! I think you are our only "surprise" baby! V. cool!
MrsTazlvr - I'm thinking it's most likely a girl, but we just couldn't get a good view of the bottom. Good to know I'm not the only one this happened to!
Jackie - I just feel the quickening movement every couple of days. Still not consistent. I'm ready for some full-on kicks, too! :)
Updated to here! :)
ETA - MrsTazlvr - I tried to change the title with the newest count, but it's not showing the new title. :confused: Do you need to change it?
MrsTazlvr
Yes, I need to change the title because only mods can do that. What are we changing it to? 4 Girls? Is Jules counting herself as a girl mommy or waiting until the next u/s?
ETA~ I see now that it was changed from 10 boys to 11 boys and still 3 girls, right? Who was the 11th boy? I am so lost. :confused:
MrsTazlvr - I updated it. :) MrsPuls is having twins - 1 boy, 1 girl. So that added to both sides. And, Kate just joined as a surprise. I'm not adding myself until I find out for sure next month. Hope that clears it up!
ETA - whoops! This is Jules1025. Forgot to log out.
MrsTazlvr ~ I vote for Daniella Jessica! :) Just think it sounds pretty and feminine.
Jules : Sorry you didn't get a more definitive answer on baby's gender at your u/s!
Kate&Joey ~ Welcome! :D
------
Thanks to everyone who inquired about my mom. She is FINE. :) The colonoscopy test sure sucked, but she did say that the prep for it (drinking 1/2 gallon of that laxative junk) was probably the worst part.
Her BP did dip VERY low after it was done---about 80 over 40! :eek: So she's been dizzy/woozy all day. I brought her out to lunch (she had fasted for nearly 24 hours), and gave her a batch of cookies I had made. I hung around for a while and kept her company while she came out of her 'fog.' Anyway, they didn't find anything BAD, other than diverticulosis, but non-severe. So that is a relief to all of us!
QOTD : I've felt more movement lately, the fluttery type of stuff. More so when I'm laying down at night (thx, trying to sleep here little one!) I definitely feel like my uterus is bigger.
Another QOTD --since I've been thinking about this a lot lately! Has anyone written out, or been thinking of a birth plan? I definitely want to make clear that I DO NOT want an episiotomy, unless it's absolutely medically necessary. It's my understanding those aren't as routine as they used to be anyway, but my mom had a really hard time with hers healing properly.
I'm also investigating whether or not to use a doula. It sounds like my cup of tea, but we'll see how much the fee is, etc.
We are having...
a surprise!
jules1025 I feel your pain! Today was not a good day for finding out the gender, eh? :rolleyes:
All the coaxing in the world couldn't make this baby uncross his/her legs! The technician tried having me roll over on either side, empty my bladder (twice), and even "tickled' baby with the u/s wand. The tech was very sweet, and very persistent. Nothing. She said over and over, "You have a very modest baby." Strike 1.
Then we went to the OB appt and told the doctor that we couldn't see baby's sex. She wheeled in the ultrasound machine and did another ultrasound, but no luck. Baby was still not giving it up! Strike 2. The OB said, "Your baby is in the worst possible position for finding out the gender." He/she is transverse, with the head facing my spine, legs clamped shut. So mommy is grumpy.
The good news is that baby is measuring a bit off on dates, so our OB put in another u/s request for next month. :D I'm not worried at all because I was charting and I know that the OB's due date and my own are a bit off. I know when I ovulated and she doesn't! ;) But I get another ultrasound and that makes me very happy-- another chance at learning more about our stubborn baby.
Baby is healthy and looking right on! And that is definitely something to smile about.
J&K - Ah, man! I was hoping to hear some good news from you. We have some stubborn babies, don't we? ;) Your u/s tech sounds really nice! Ours was a sour puss. She only checked twice, and didn't even answer me when I specifically asked her if there was any way to get the baby to move. :rolleyes: Then she proceeded to take the crappiest u/s pictures ever! I was a very grumpy mommy, too. Your u/s pics looks great! Love the thumb sucking pic!
Awww, no, sorry to hear that your kid was being less than cooperative, J&K. Thinks it's a sign of things to come? ;) Nice pics, though. I really like the thumb sucking one.
chefker, so glad that your mom is doing well.
Well Allie used to be VERY active inside of me. She would kick the fetal monitor off of me when I would go to the OB toward the end of my pregnancy. Now she is a fiesty 21 month old. I don't think much has changed. ;)
Thank you all for voting. I think we decided on Daniella Jamie. Mainly because there were too many A's in Daniella Jessica. :)
Hey Guys!
Looks like Grace is in fact a BOY!!!! :D
The ultrasound was so cool and it's so nice to KNOW that it's a boy (well, 95% sure, anyway)
We're having another sex check in 4 weeks just to make sure, but she says it looks that way!
I got the cutest boy clothes after my appointment!!
I'm in love with my little Sam :D
Kate~ welcome to the group! Glad you decided to join us!
Jules & J&K~ sorry your babies didn't cooperate. That's cool that you both get another U/S. I only get one unless their was reason to have a 2nd one so I'm sure glad we were able to find out.
Amie~ congrats on your for sure BOY! That must me so nice to get another U/S. I wish I could have another one just to make sure. Even though I'm pretty sure I saw boy parts I still have some small doubts. I want to know for sure, KWIM?
MrsTazlvr~ congrats on picking a name! I don't think this kid will ever have a name. I've thrown about 50 names at DH and their was one that he maybe liked. I don't even know which one it is anymore. I'm just getting so frustrated!
Jackie&Tom~ congrats on your for sure BOY too! I bet it was fun shopping for him. I still haven't done that yet. I'm sure I'll start browsing in the boy section next time I'm at the store.
I've been having terrible heartburn the past few days. It seems no matter what I eat I get it. I had this earlier on too and then it went away. Today seemed much better though. I wonder if it has to do with the position the baby is in? Other than that I've been feeling pretty good. I'm about ready to go and buy another body pillow though. My DH stole the one I had from my last pgcy and won't let me sleep with it. :rolleyes: That's ok though, this one is all flattened out now so I need a new fluffy one!
Jackie&Tom and Amie, congrats on the for sure little guys! I bet you had a blast shoping for the clothes. I love baby clothes.
Nikkid, aw, sorry to hear about the heartburn. I've been lucky in that department so far, though I do occasionally get some wicked indigestion.
Speaking of body pillows, I got my Snoogle this past weekend. It's pretty nice and really does seem to make my hips and lower back feel better. I really like having something to cuddle with that doesn't have sharp elbows to dig into me (sorry DH).
Kate - Welcome! Glad you joined us!
jules and j&k - Congrats on the great results from the u/s. Sorry your little ones were shy though. I hope you get the info that you want in a couple weeks with the follow up u/s.
MrsTazlvr - That's great that you have picked a name. I really like your choice.
Nikkid - heartburn is the worst! I have also been suffering with it this pg, mainly in the afternoons. I can't seem to find anything that helps...so if you do, please share.
Body pillow - I would be lost without mine! Funny thing is, when DS wakes up early and we bring him in our bed he tries to hang on it too. I have to battle my toddler for my body pillow!
Betsy - I hope you are someplace safe and that your family is OK. I don't know if you are able to log in, but just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts. One of my best friends just moved to Gulfport in June, and while she is safe at her parents' in FL - I just can't imagine the devestation they might face with their home. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who lives in that region.
I had a doctor appointment yesterday and everything seems to be going great with the baby so far. My next doctor appointment is 9/26. My u/s is tomorrow, so that is what I'm really looking forward to. It will be so nice to get a little picture of the baby inside.
DH has been going to all of my appointments with me so far because he has been able to easily work them into his schedule. I think though he is getting frustrated with them a bit. Yesterday when we were leaving the doctor he said that we spent more time in the waiting room than with the doctor. I said that they just need to make sure that everything is going ok. His response was can't you just call in and tell them that everything is fine. He will probably still want to go to the next appointment in September though. So I guess that leads me to a QOTD... Do your DH's go to all of your doctor appointments?
elladee
Jackie&Tom, that's a really neat picture.
meggers, best of luck at the u/s tomorrow.
QOTD-Dr appointments
Well so far I've only had 4. DH has been to 2 of them - when we got to hear the hb for the first time and for the u/s. Unless things start to go badly, I highly doubt he'll join me for any more.
QOTD... Do your DH's go to all of your doctor appointments?
DH has been to all of our appointments so far, but is starting a new job soon. He will miss the next one for sure because of it. I hope he starts coming again after he settles in at work; our OB is always great about making sure to talk to him too, not just to me, and always asks if he has any questions.
Re QOTD:
My husband only goes to the ultrasound appointments. That was how he was for my daughter too. He has very little patience when it comes to waiting, and I always wait at least 30 minutes or more before the doctor sees me. Plus, the regular appointments are not too exciting. I pee in a cup, get weighed (very glad hubby is not there for that), check blood pressure, then wait in the waiting room again for the doctor. I only see the doctor for 10 minutes at most. Checks my tummy, the heartbeat, goes over any questions I have and then I'm out.
Hearing the heartbeat probably would have been the most interesting thing to my husband, but we had a doppler so we could hear the hearbeat anytime with DD. I let someone borrow it and now they are in the hospital on bedrest so I can't get it back anytime soon. :( I really wish I still had it.
QOTD:
DH has gone to both ultrasounds. I couldn't imagine asking him to go to the regular appointments...he would go insane with the waiting room! Anyway, I work downtown and my OB is downtown, so it would cost $$ for him to either take the train or pay for parking. Not worth it, in my opinion!
I think that's very sweet that other DHs go to the regular appointments. You are lucky girls!
MrsTazlvr - I like the name you picked! I didn't vote before b/c I really liked both of them. :)
Amie & Jackie - Glad you were able to find out that you are for sure having boys! Have fun shopping for them! :)
Nikki & yoganut - I sympathize with you on the heartburn. I hope it does go away soon. If not, Nexium is working really well for me!
meggers - Good luck at your u/s tomorrow! I hope everything is well with baby and he/she shows you the goods! ;)
Body pillow - I ordered a snoogle online and it's supposed to arrive today! I'm really excited! My hips and back KILL me at night. I always end up rolling onto my back b/c my hips hurt so bad.
QOTD - My DH has only been to appts with ultrasounds, which makes 3 so far. He'll go to the next appt with me since we're having another u/s, but he probably won't go to anymore appts after that. All they do at my regular appts is check the h/b, measure my belly and ask me if I have any questions. The time I spend waiting for the doc is much longer than how long I see her. I don't want my DH to use vacation time for that.
Kate welcome!!
Amie and Jackie congrats on your BOYS!
Jules and J&K Sorry you weren't able to find out the sex. Hopefully you'll have better luck at the next u/s. I hope you both get what you want!
Betsy Joining the crowd in hoping you're somewhere safe.
Nikki & yoganut I have had intermittant heartburn, but luckily a couple tums usually kicks it. I'm coming to the point where I really need to bring in a bottle to work though. It can get bad after lunch!
QOTD: So far, my DH has gone to all of my Dr. appts with me. The first couple and of course the u/s appts. were important for him. He is a teacher, so he had the benefit of not having to take off any time to come to them. Now that everything's becoming more routine and gas has skyrocketed, I plan to tell him that it's ok if he doesn't come for a while. (He would keep coming even if he didn't want to unless I said something about it... what a good guy!). This is also our first baby after a long haul in TTC, so that also may have something to do with his exemplary attendance.
Amie - Please do!! I can't imagine how stressful this must be to her and her loved ones. If she or her family needs anything (gift cards, baby stuff, etc.) please let us know. I really want to help - and while I am donating through work, I want to try and do something that I know will get to the people directly and fast.
Question -
Does anyone have their placenta in front of the baby?
I found out at our last u/s that the placenta is in front of the baby and it might be a while before I feel him kicking!
The dr. said it's common, it just happened to be where the placenta formed.
Just curious if anyone else has this??
Thanks!
When I was pregnant with DD, my placenta was anterior. It is less common than a posterior placenta, but is still common. I felt my dd move for sure at 21 weeks, but I think I felt some slight movement inside around 18-20 weeks. Some people (friends/relatives) did tell me to be careful, but my doctor was not concerned at all. It did not negatively affect the pregnancy one bit.
My plancenta is posterior this time around.
Well I'm back from my trip and so glad to see all the exciting news! Boys, Boys everywhere! But glad to see a few girls are now in the mix. We had a nice time, but it was HOT! No A/C and I was dying!
In pregnancy news I've had a couple of Braxton-Hix Contractions. At first I was worried but What to Expect... says it's common after 20 weeks. Anway, sorry to make this short. I know I have so much catching up to do!
Oh yes and as you can see below, we've changed our baby boy's name. I think it's set now though!
Congrats to everyone who is 1/2 or more......
Betsy - so sorry about your house - I posted in you LJ
My big u/s was great - the tech had a wee bit of a prob finding all 4 chambers of the heart but it was only becasue of positioning... my ob checked after that and said all looked good.
Hope you are all taking care of yourselves - have a great night!!!
