View Full Version : Ped Egg or Pumice Stone?
since, I've been wearing nothing but flip-flops since June until now, my heels have become very dry. Daily use of Burt's Bees foot creme and a twice a month pedicure was working great for me until a couple of weeks ago (weather change?)...now my feet are a mess and I need to remove the dead skin from my heels ASAP.
I have a pumice stone, but I haven't used it in ages, so I would prefer to buy a new one....but I've also heard good feedback on the Ped Egg.
If you have used both which one do you prefer?

I love my ped egg! Pumice stones never really worked for me. With the ped egg I get a lot of the dry skin off my heels. It is a little gross when you empty the container of all the skin bits, but it works so well I deal with that.

I've always used a pumice or one of those files (like a nail file, but bigger). Got the ped egg, but apparently I don't have as much dry skin as I thought, because the ped egg hurt!

I'm not a huge fan of the Ped Egg. I know a lot of people who like it, but it never really seemed to make a difference to me.

I also found it to be very uncomfortable.

I love my Ped Egg. Pumice stones never really worked for me either. But the Ped Egg works immediately. I will agree though, that if you don't have too much dry skin it may hurt.

Yes, this. I have calluses the size of Nebraska and adore the ped egg, but I know other people who have almost crippled themselves with it. :p

Neither. I use the non-ped egg tool that costs about $4. It looks like a cheese grater on one side and a nail file on the other side. Right out of the shower, it does not hurt at all to gently grate away the callouses.

I have horribly dry feet and have tried everything.
The Ped Egg has been the best option I've used at home. I have to use it every day and it works well. I wasn't able to use it too much this summer because I was pregnant and couldn't reach my feet, but under normal circumstances I use it daily.
The only thing is you shouldn't use it when your feet are wet/damp (per the instructions). I used it before bed and it worked out well.

I have a Ped Egg. The concept grosses me out a little, but it works well. What I've found is that if I push down when I'm using it, that's when it hurts. Using it with a light touch still removes the dry skin and it isn't uncomfortable.

I have both and WAY prefer the pumice stone...the ped egg hurts me, like others have mentioned. I now use the pumice stone in the shower and come out with clean, pretty feet!
I have always had good luck with regular pumice stones in the shower, followed by good moisturizer. I haven't used a Ped Egg, but I have close friends who own a chain of fancy nail salons and are thus obsessed with pedicure products, and they warned me against the Ped Egg for the same reasons expressed by some of the other posters in this thread. But I do know some people who love the Ped Egg...

I like a good pumice stone scrub, followed by a healthy smear of cocoa butter and clean cotton socks at nighttime.

The ped eg skeeves me out, the same way any discount nail salon file does. I refuse to let them use it on my heels and insist on the pumice instead. It gets me a lot of dirty looks from the technicians, but whatever.
Pumice for me and then a good moisturizer.
Thanks everyone. I just ended up buying a another pumice stone yesterday. I used it last night after my shower, slathered on some Burts Bees foot creme and put on socks...I do notice a difference today. I'll have to keep up with it. Thanks!
