Tomorrow I am attending my first Quinceanara.

I am going to the church celebration at 1:00 and then the party at 5:00 which lasts until 1:00am!! It will be quite fancy with a mariachi band and supposedly a well known Latin DJ - should be lots of dancing.

Question is do people change clothes between the 2 celebrations? I am assuming it is a bit like a wedding and dress accordingly. Also I know the father and I am thinking a check is a nice gift? My DH and I are going and was thinking around $75?? We are in California if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I would definitely dress as if it were a wedding and I think a $75 check is perfect. I would not change clothes between the church and the reception. It has been a while since I've been to a quinceanara but I've never noticed anyone doing so, similar to when there is a break between the wedding and reception.

If you wanted to, you could change accessories between the church and the party. Same outfit, but more conservative for church and a bit more hip at night.

Actually I want to change because there is no way I can wear heels all day. I purchased a new dress that is a bit "sexy" and I want to wear it to the night event but not to the church. Want to surprise DH with a bit more seductiveness than he is used to.... We don't go out much and so this is a big event for us.
