Hi everyone,

I need help trying to find a nice round/oval table preferably that expands with matching chairs/china cabinet and/or sideboard. I like darker browns and would even consider black. My biggest concern besides the round/oval table are the chairs. I want chairs that are upholstered preferable on back and bottom but definitely on bottom. I don't want hard wooden chairs just because it's not the style I'm going for although most things that appeal to me are just wooden. I also can't have anything too big because the dining room isn't that large.

My taste is more contemporary/modern than it is traditional but nothing over the top on either direction.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT! Thanks ladies! POST AWAY! And once I figure out how to post pictures, I'll add some things. :p

I did a quick google search and found some great pedestal tables that fit your parameters (darker colored wood, cushioned seats, etc.):

You could always get a table and a matching buffet you like and then get the upholstered chairs somewhere else if you don't like the chairs that come with the set. You can get these chairs seperately in fabric and wood finishes of your choice:

Well, you can get this table from Pottery Barn in dark wood or black and add different chairs:

The Francisco Pedestal Table creates a graceful focal point with its turned hardwood base and shapely design that provides ample legroom for guests. A broad top and deep apron give it a substantial look. A 21" drop-in leaf extends the tabletop from a 45" diameter circle to a 66" long oval, so it comfortably seats up to six guests. Mahogany stain or hand-rubbed Black finish.

Matching Francisco sideboard:

Or this one:

A substantial turned-wood pedestal gives our table a dramatic profile. The turned center column rests on scrolled feet. Expand the alder top from a 45" diameter circle to a 66"-long oval with the addition of a locking center leaf. The table’s hand-applied stain is lacquered, then waxed, for a warm glow.

Matching Laurel buffet:

Maybe with these chairs?

Upholstered in soft, polished top-grain leather and padded for comfort, these Italian-inspired chairs are beautifully crafted on solid hardwood frames that are made to last a lifetime. The frame is covered in your choice of soft top-grain leather or our exclusive everydaysuede™, a microfiber with the seductive softness of real suede. Hardwood legs are stained a rich mahogany.

Or these?

Upholstered dining chairs are a sophisticated alternative to traditional wood seating. Ours are made in Italy of solid beech with tapered legs and softly curved backrests. The seats are generously padded for maximum comfort and upholstered in sand-colored cotton twill. Choose frame in Black or Mahogany stain.

This walnut and antique black collection (http://www3.jcpenne.com/jcp/ProductsHOM.aspx?DeptID=25438&CatID=25982&CatTyp=DEP&ItemTyp=G&GrpTyp=ENS&ItemID=0ba02b2&ProdSeq=2&Cat=wood+tables-chairs&Dep=Home+Furnishings&PCat=Dining+Rooms&PCatID=25980&RefPage=ProductList&Sale=&ProdCount=28&RecPtr=&ShowMenu=&TTYP=&ShopBy=0&RefPageName=WindowSolutionHOM%252Easpx&RefCatID=25980&RefDeptID=25438) has an extendable round table and a sideboard/server, but the matching chairs aren't padded (though you could either get different chairs or add pads).

Same thing with this dark walnut collection (http://www3.jcpenney.com/jcp/ProductsHOM.aspx?DeptID=25438&CatID=25986&CatTyp=DEP&ItemTyp=G&GrpTyp=ENS&ItemID=0cab1ad&ProdSeq=2&Cat=mix-n-match&Dep=Home+Furnishings&PCat=dining+rooms&PCatID=25980&RefPage=ProductList&Sale=&ProdCount=3&RecPtr=&ShowMenu=&TTYP=&ShopBy=0&RefPageName=WindowSolutionHOM%252Easpx&RefCatID=25980&RefDeptID=25438).

Everyone here is GREAT! These are beautiful pieces.

Smiles33 I LOVE THAT FIRST PICTURE YOU POSTED! ANY CHANCE YOU REMEMBER WHERE YOU GOT IT!?

Ivansbabe - I was thinking the exact same thing! I definitely think that it is something I am considering. I went and saw the set I picked out from a company up here in my area and I really do love it, except for the chairs! I'm going to look into it. Thanks for the suggestion!

MLA - I love the Pottery Barn Look! Thanks for posting. Once I figure out how to post pics I will definitely add the other few i'm considering.

If you right-click on a picture and click "Properties", it will tell you where it came from. That pic is from Restoration Hardware. Pretty table!

I've been searching high and low for this set actually (seen in the brown colored rooms thread)......i think it might be Pottery Barn!?

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b238/hsgeek/decoratingideas.jpg

Sorry it's so big. It was posted by Steffie and it's beautiful although it's probably an older set discontinued b/c that's just my luck.

Thank you all for this search...you've been helpful and i'm still undecided!?

You are so welcome. I think that is a gorgeous set. Some of the tables here seem more traditional and some are more modern. What style is the rest of your home's decor? Maybe that will help you decide. :)
