Disco -Your pages are great. We went on a cruise for our honeymoon-I'm so mad now that I didn't think to save all our stuff. Guess since I didn't start scrapping until well after our wedding I didn't think in the scrapbooking mind.

Em-I love love your pages. That is one book you can be proud of. Question-once you are done with Noah's first year will you start a book for his second year etc. That's what I'm trying to figure out. Once I'm done with Josh's book how I should continue kwim.

Jen - Yes, I'll keep doing albums for him. I bought his 2nd year album already. I don't know if I'll do a new album for every year, or do a 1st year one, a 2nd year one, a preschool years one, a elem school one, etc, etc. Or maybe I'll just do a yearly album for him until there's another baby, then start family albums. Dunno!

Jen, your pages are wonderful, and you know why... BECAUSE you are journaling in them, and adding color and embellishments to them, where in a normal photo album, there would be nothing!

I don't feel you should ever feel embarrased by them... or think they are not as nice! I loved looking at them!

Well, there they are...a little taste on what I've been working on. They're not very good- but I'm still learning. Any constructive criticizm is appreciated!

MandyMaloo, I think your pages are pretty darn good - what are you talking about not liking them? The only thing I could even think of changing is the two pages that say "Korean" and "War." You could add some mats behind a few pics, a little more color somewhere, but that's about it. If you want to change up things a bit, you could crop some pics into shapes, such as the middle pic on the baseball page with 5 pages: I'd make the center pic into a circle shape. But seriously, that's a personal taste issue.

I really like the Sunshine/Summer pages, the wedding dress pages and the I'm 21 pages!

Well I finally finished our first page!!! WOOHOO!!!

Here it is in all its glory. Unfortunately our digital camera sucks, so I had to take this picture in the dark because the flash is broken...or something. :confused: Hopefully you can see it okay.

Since this scrapbook will begin with how we met and end at the honeymoon, I wanted to incorporate all of that into the first page. The pictures at the bottom show when we first started dating, then go on to the engagement, wedding and HM.

Does anyone have any layouts that include their wedding program? We had an out of the ordinary wedding program and I cannot figure out any way to attach it and display it in my scrapbook. Our program was a flipbook-type, but I'm curious to see what you've done as well.

Thank you. Mine is actually a tri-fold, and I have the front of the cover on the page before it, but don't have a picture handy of it.

I have an 8 month old daughter and, so, I haven't done much scrapbooking lately.... I just did HER first page the other day - one of her baptism. But I did quite a big scrapbook for my wedding and also one for my DH (then-BF) when we moved in together. I moved in a month before he did and didn't have a TV so I got a lot done. :rolleyes:

These were all my first attempts at scrapbooking...my LO's now have gotten a little better and not so bland....I think these are all okay for it being my first time doing it but now looking at them, I want to change them.
Trust me, we ALL feel that way! But, don't go back and change them. If you did, then you'd never get anything done, and by the time you changed an old album, you'd be wanting to change it again. We should leave the old albums the way they are and realize how great they look!

hi ladies!! i didn't even know this thread existed! one of my journal buddies sent me over here after i posted pictures from my pregnancy scrapbook i nmy journal. I love the layouts you guys have here!! I've gotten a few ideas I hope to put into plan soon.

I love patterend papers, I'm not the most patient person in the world. My goal is to get pages out and not spend days on one layout. So the patterend papers help me do this by being decorative.

Went to a cropping this past Saturday and did the first page for my MIL wedding alblum and for my parents. I was really happy how they turned out. The one with all the colored block is actually using paint chips from Wal-Marts.

Tell me, does anyone else feel the need to purchase at least one or 2 sbing related item everytime they go to the store. I know I have way more than enough supplies but it always seem like I'm missing something. Don't have the right stickers, need more variety rub on letters,etc. Ughhhh I swear I think I've spent way too much money on this hobby. LOL

We ALL overspend on scrapbook items! For example, I will soon start an album on my trip to San Francisco. So, I'm buying SF paper, die cuts, a few stickers, etc. But you know I won't use all of them - so I'll end up with extra SF stuff that I will never use again. That does kinda drive me crazy, but what can you do? I'd rather have extra than run out of what I need during a crop.

I also think all of us look back at some of our first few layouts and think, "what was I thinking!?" :o It's just part of the evolution of scrapbooking as our skills get better. Sometimes It's fun to sit down and just do a page with the supplies you have on hand...do a little mix and match with your letters, colors, stickers. Sometimes that makes for a more fun and better page than one that is all nice and neat and coordinated.

Disco Diva I understand completely. I go to the store with a album in mind and then I get in there and go thru the aisles and I'm like ooh that's cute..ooh I like that..it never stops! LOL My husband has since stopped rolling his eyes at me since he has a new hobby now. But boy, it's like money will burn a whole straight thru my pocket if I don't stop by the sbing aisle at some store. Doesn't help that Joann's, Michael's and my LSS are all in the same parking lot..geesh "What were you thinking people!"

I look back on my first pages now and laugh, they really do make good memories and it's fun to see how you've grown and come along. I'm sure my son will look back on it too and laugh when he's all grown and flipping through the book.

beachlvr-That is a great page! Is that font from the site you posted in the other thread? I love the coordinating papers. I'm so afraid to use something like stripes and polka dots together. Every page I see done like that, I love, but I don't think I can pull it off, kwim??

I am generally not a big patterned paper user. But this was from the same product line, so I figured it was safe since all the colors matched :D

I mounted it on a red background and then added the stripes and solids. The large letters are rub ons and the journaling font is from that website I posted.

I always bring home just piles of stuff from our trips--brochures, tickets, maps, postcards, and so forth. And then I can never figure out what to do with them. Sometimes I've just slapped them in the scrapbook any old way, putting the whole brochure or whatever in there. Sometimes I've just thrown them away. This is so much better! I'm totally hooked.

Am I a freak if I'm tempted to go back and rip apart some of my old "basic" scrapbooks to improve them? I don't actually have the time or the energy to do it, but I wish I did, especially for things like our Hawaii trip in 2004 and our wedding/honeymoon scrapbooks.

Never go back and redo books. If you do that, then you'll never get anywhere! Think about it, by the time you finish one album, you're already wanting to start that one over because a new trend/style of scrapbooking has come along.

One of the fun (and sometimes painful :p ) parts of scrapbooking is looking at your old books and saying, "What was I thinking when I did that page??" Additionally, you get to see your growth as a scrapbooker - and that's just as much a part of your story as the scrapbooks themselves.

Sometimes I've just slapped them in the scrapbook any old way, putting the whole brochure or whatever in there. Sometimes I've just thrown them away. This is so much better! I'm totally hooked.

Am I a freak if I'm tempted to go back and rip apart some of my old "basic" scrapbooks to improve them? I don't actually have the time or the energy to do it, but I wish I did, especially for things like our Hawaii trip in 2004 and our wedding/honeymoon scrapbooks.

I wouldn't recommend going back and doing all of your scrapbooks over again, because like you said, who has the time - but I would re-do your wedding/honeymoon scrapbook if you aren't happy with it. This is actually my concern with getting into scrapbooking. I kept EVERYTHING that could possibly be a memento from our wedding, and I got a creative memories Wedding Album. But, I'm really worried that with it being my first scrapbook, and my not having alot of good stuff that it is going to be ugly. I really don't feel that I have the time to pick something else to work on first as a prelim as it's already been a year from our wedding, and I need to get started on scrapbooking it. I'm really worried about it, though b/c I want it to be really nice.

Ardathpaige~Try not to fret about the end product. Just take things one page at a time. I found that when I focused on the overall project, I was not near as pleased with how things turned out. The hardest and longest part for me is always trying to pick out exactly what pics to use! Good luck!!

I just started scrapbooking this summer, after the wedding. My "practice" album was the start of our relationship up to the wedding - it wasn't anything very exciting at all. My second album was for our honeymoon, which was a little better - I ordered a lot of Hawaii papers that I used. By the time I got to our wedding scrapbook (which was much more of a planning album) I was much more creative, though I did run out of steam a little bit by the end.

I plan on pulling out all the stops when we have kids - that will be so much fun!

It is so cute - DH now remembers to save every little scrap of paper from the major things we do in case I want to use it in a scrapbook.

I have a few months worth of stuff that need to be scrapbooked, which I'll get to now that I have finished our wedding one.

I am not sure what I am going to do when we have kids - create 2 of them, one for each? Our continue with family albums? My friend is doing family albums, but what is she going to do when her kids each want momentos?

My parents are in the process of going through all their slides (yes, they love slides, not prints) and figuring out the ones to keep and what to throw away as a preparation of them downsizing their house in the next few years. Most of the slides haven't been made into prints, but I am thinking about taking the people shots (my dad takes more 'scenery pics' than people pics) and making prints of them and then making a Family Scrapbook from our childhood, but that could take forever! But it could be fun in my spare time (what spare time?).

Scrapbooking is so addicting!!!

This is one of my Christmas gifts for MIL. I scanned tons of her old photos, and had them reprinted at Costco for this project, so I didn't have to cut up any of her originals. She has no idea - I had SIL sneak the photos to me while they were away on vacation. :) Some of the pages look like there are gaps for journalling - that's because that's exactly what they're for - so MIL can fill them in with her own special thoughts about her kids, etc.

For the wedding album, you could get it in order now. Buy the album, see how many pages you will need, lay out the order of events, figure out what pictures go on each page, see if you want to make any enlargements or convert some pics to b/w, maybe find some embellishments or letter stickers to use, etc. You could also prepare your honeymoon album the same way.

But, I'd continue scrapbooking other events (not necessarily a whole album) for a few more months until you feel confident in your abilities and know exactly what you want your wedding album to look like.

When I first started scrapbooking, I used waaaay too many stickers on a page (and I think most ladies here did the same thing). As my skill has grown, I've adapted my style a lot. I use less stickers, I use much more patterened background papers, I've learned to use fiber/ribbon embellishments, I occasionally journal on vellum and the computer instead of writing on the page, etc. My pages have evolved into more mature, elegant pages.

If you feel the need, buy a book or magazine all about scrapbooking a wedding and copy the pages for your own. There's nothing wrong with that: that's what the magazines are there for!

I do have boxes and boxes of pics I have taken in the past. (I LOVE photography), so I would guess I could find some different albums to do, maybe even my neice and nephews albums.

neenbean - I think your pages look great! Love the camping one! A tip that I find helps add to a page is dots. Little dots around pictures. Sometimes I surround a whole picture with dots and other times just a side or two. I will try to post an example when I get to my home computer.

Sunshine - I didn't start scrapbooking until after our honeymoon. The first book I did was our pre-married life and I'll admit - it pretty much sucked! Then I did the honeymoon - since it was in Hawaii I practiced but didn't have to do too many themes since all the pages were very Hawaiian. So after 2 books I felt prepared to tackle my wedding one (I think I started it in Sept/Oct from a May wedding)

One thing I forced myself to do (or should I say not do) was not to do any pages if I wasn't in the mood, just to get it done, because that's when my creativity lacks and I just throw it together.

Also, I did a lot more planning ahead of time so I'd have the proper accessories in house (I bought way too much!) and if I was working on a page and found I didn't have something I wanted, I stopped and waited until I bought it instead of moving ahead with something I didn't necessarily want.

My wedding scrapbook is a lot more of the planning than the actual day - I have my professional picture album and my non-professional album and my wedding day recap that really tell the story over and over again, so actually the pictures of the actual wedding aren't that elaborate (and I didn't always adhere to my own rules!!) I felt better once I resigned myself to the fact that I couldn't tell the whole wedding story with just my scrapbook.

PalmBch2002 , I know exactly what you mean! I was in a rush when I "finished" the shower and b-day LOs, but I will be adding more and I find new ideas (like adding DOTS to a couple photos!). :D Thanks for the suggestion.

Sunshine, THANK YOU for the compliment!! I was pretty happy with that, too. I wanted to emphasize my enormous belly- pretty much the only time in life when you are proud of a BIG belly. ;) Good luck with your own scrapping. I say just start working on ANYTHING- your wedding or current life happenings and try to enjoy it! That is what this is all about. :D

So last night I started to organize some thoughts for my wedding scrapbook! I will do a few pages first, but really want to start organizing my thoughts.
Because I have SO MANY pisc, and so many great ones, I decided I would do the classic wedding scrapbook, very simple and elegant, and then I would do a 2nd book, a ABC wedding scrapbook! I saw an example and thought it was so cute, and a great way to add pics of the reception, or bartenders etc, that maybe not everyone will want to look at.....but if they do it will be interesting enough to flip thru!

Oy was it stressful trying to pick the best pics for the classic book. I worked on it for about an hour and realized I needed to take a break for the rest of the night! LOL! My photographer was just so awesome, I really love all of them but realize I should only pick the best and go with those.

jesseybell~Thank you so much for your reply to my post:D I didnt have a "profesional" photographer, so i dont have a book from one. I really want to make sure that I love my book for many years to come, so I think I may do like you, maybe start with a pre-engagement book of us, and then do the honeymoon. We went to Mexico, and I got WAY more scenic pics than anything, so it will prob be an easier book aswell!

neenbean~Thank you! I DID actually start organizing my book. I am 'pretty' good when it comes to crafts, I made all of my wedding invitations myself, and they were a pretty complex design, and I needed to use various different adhesives and papers, so I am prety confident in that area!
I just cant wait to start putting pages together!:D

Thanks girls! I'm pretty excited with the way it turned out!on your bingo card - what are the pictures? We actually played Bingo one night on the ship. I took pics of the guy calling the numbers, but they came out REALLY dark. The only thing that showed up was the board highlighting the numbers, so I cut circles around the part of the board with the numbers. When I looked at the card I made those numbers were actually on it, so I place covered the numbers with the appropriate pic (the blank one went in the "free space").

I have been a scrapbooking fiend lately! Not only did I finish up my cruise album this weekend, but I also managed to get 5-6 pgs done for DDs book! :eek:

I attended a 12 hour crop last weekend, so I got some pages done. I spend waaaaay too much time on each page!

You'll notice that I tend to not do a lot of journalling. I'm really into photograpy and find that the photos often tell the story. I do, however, journal names, dates, basic thoughts about the event, etc. I'm not one to do a whole story.

I also love to mix and match prints. It can be tough making sure they match okay!

Yep and I will never, ever, EVER do it again. ;) That friggin' thing took me forever, it was hard to do and didn't do that much for me once I got it done. :rolleyes: Now I've found my style and won't need to since it doesn't "go." KWIM?
