Hi,
I'm Kim and we're building a new home. I seriously don't know how people would do this more than once. Unlike a pre-owned home, you have to wait. And wait. And wait. We're lucky because we don't have to wait as long as others. Closing in 2 months? I wish!
We're lucky because it was being built when we found it. We could still make all the choices, like countertops, appliances, carpeting/hardwoods, etc.
Basic info. Feel free to add your own info:
Name: Kim
Location: Durham, NC
Started building: March, 2005
Estimated finish date: September, 2005
Estimated close date: September, 2005 (still not solid)
Square footage: 2150 sq feet
Where are you now? Just finished drywall
Problems: Oh, so many. We found misc. holes that wouldn't have been covered up had we not caught them (siding wouldn't have helped much with the cold!). The missing spicket on the side of the house. Electrical and phones/cable in completely wrong place. Sockets in completely wrong place. Missing phone outlets. All in all, not too bad considering.
Include a picture too!
Where we are now. Progress pictures to come. The house next door isn't on top of us, it's the angle. So are the wide hips you see. I'm leaning on one side. Truly! What we love is the huge lot of land (for the area, which is usually about 2 feet of land). We have protected woods in the back (meaning no neighbors in back of us) and we own a huge side and front lot. We even own a little stream (to the right). No neighbors on the right.
