Marking my spot in the toddler thread!!!!! I still can't get over how much Aaron is walking! Just yesterday he was mostly crawling and only walking a little bit. Today he's practically not crawling at all! WOW! :eek:
The HVAC guy came and was able to fix our heat for MUCH less than we thought and we don't need to replace the furnace, thank goodness!!
We had some friends over the play this morning and since it was 61 degrees outside, the big kids were all outside for almost 2 hours!! Poor Aaron missed it, though. He was sleeping and then had to eat after he woke up. Then everyone left while he was still eating and I had to tuck Jackie & Seth in for nap/ rest.

Dana That's a super cute pic of Addison! I can't remember if she has any teeth, but that's a nice toothless smile!
Lisa Yes, I was amazed at how fast Wyatt was full on walking too. It seemed like 1 week he was all hesitant and everything and now he goes all over. We have a game called "Come with your mama!" I make a big hand gesture & say that to him and he'll follow me where-ever I go with the proudest, happiest face-it's so sweet!
I think that Wyatt is getting better, he fever has seemed to improve, now we just have the super runny nose & cough to get with. I'm wondering how much of that is due to his teeth though. The bottom 2 canines are through-I just can't believe it! Just 1 molar and 2 top canines to go and then we should have a good long break!

Such cute pics!!
Megan, I'm glad he's doing better.
So Aaron went to bed w/o nursing first last night. :(:)I really don't know whether to be happy or sad about it! LOL I had already nursed him 4 times yesterday & I didn't want to do a 5th since we're weaning so we gave him a sippy of milk downstairs and after our bedtime routine, put him in the crib and he didn't make a peep! Yet there are still times when he wants me and nothing/ no one else!

Tripp's birthday party was Saturday. The weather didn't cooperate and I was very worried that our house was going to overflow with people, but it all worked out. We had 18 kids here and their parents and then a few couple friends that don't have kids. All-in-all I think there were about 50 people. Probably too many for a 1st birthday party, but it was one of the most fun parties I've ever thrown. My parents were in from Florida so that was icing on the cake for my kids.
We had a face painter come and oh my gosh the kids LOVED her. All the kids, even the babies, loved her. It was so much more fun that I could imagine. I wondered if the smaller kids would sit still for the face painting, but they did. All of them!
We did the King of the Jungle theme that matched the paper goods I posted a few weeks ago. The face painter painted all animal faces on the kids. The goody bags were filled with jungle type things - bubbles with jungle animals on top, jungle animal stickers, notepads, and rubber duckies, and animal crackers. I got all but the crackers from Oriental Trading Co. and I was pleased with all the items. They were very cute!
I also made a 12 month photo banner that turned out so nicely. I'm not generally crafty, but the banner was so easy to do. I also made a little banner to go around the high chair tray. I tried to buy a custom one off etsy but I delivery would take to long so I made one. Also much easier than I thought! I did buy a banner from etsy to hang that said "Happy Birthday Tripp" ... it was very pretty. Lastly, I did photofetti. Those were my personal touches.
All in all it was a great party and all the kids had fun! Some of my friends called me yesterday to tell me their kids were still talking about the face painting and that made me feel really good. So if any of you are thinking of parties for an older kid, I would recommend face painting!
Here is a picture of Tripp from his party. Sweet little lion :) Oh, and he demolished his cake. Whoa! I'll post a pic of that when I get them uploaded. He was a complete mess. DH had to give him a quick bath during the party. I've never seen anything like it! LOL

Sounds like a fabulous party! I can't believe the little kids sat still for face painting! I don't think I'd have the guts to try it on anyone younger than 2 or 3!! How did he not wipe it all off? Impressive!! I wanna see more pics!

BTW how's the weather by everyone? We have 8.25 inches of snow and counting (I keep going outside every hour or so w/ the tape measure! LOL). It's supposed to keep snowing until 8 pm and from about 11-1 it's supposed to be pretty heavy. I posted pics in Facebook of Jackie & Seth playing outside about 1.5 hours ago, but here's a few...

Tammie - That is such a cute picture of Tripp! I can just picture all those little ones sitting to get their faces painted-too cute!! I knew your party would be a blast! Can't wait to see the picture of him with his cake.
I posted last night, but it got lost becuase my internet went down just as I posted it!:mad:
Lisa I'm sure Aaron will continue to want/need you for other things! I was surprised when you said that he was OK without nursing before bed though! That was the last one that Wyatt let go of, but maybe because I work so we aren't together all day?
Wyatt seem to be doing much better-no more fever, we're just down to a runny nose & goopy eyes-and they are much better today than they have been all week! Of course, just as I was worried about it, I am coming down with something. I had to get up during the night last night to take some Tylenol because I was burning up, but don't think I've had a fever. My neck is achy on the sides & my throat is a bit sore & of course now my nose is starting in! Ugh! Just as I was thinking I was convincing myself to stop worrying about this pregnancy too! I would have loved to baby myself and stay home today, but I am going through my sick days at an alarming rate. Whoever said that mom's aren't allowed to be sick were right! I'm just praying that I'll be able to take maternity leave at the end of the year!

Lisa We cross posted....I'd love it if you could keep the snow there please! I've had enough of this winter and am very anxious for spring to get here already! It was 11 degrees on my way to work this morning and is to go down in negative temps today with the wind chill-I've had enough! LOL!

LOL I'll do my best to keep the snow here! LOL I'm glad Wyatt's better and I hope you get better soon! I'm getting sick too and so is Aaron. It's non stop! I wonder if that's why he went to bed so easily w/o nursing the other night, he's been so exhausted. That 9and the night I went out for Mom's Night Out) was the only night I didn't nurse before bed.

Tammie ~ What a cute picture! The party sounds like it was a blast!
Megan ~ I'm sorry that you seem to be coming down with the sickies. I hope that it passes quick and doesn't settle in.
Lisa ~ Our weather is FABULOUS. We went to the zoo yesterday and it was such a beautiful day. It is supposed to be 90 degrees today :eek: We have been spending a lot of time at the playground lately since we don't get too much of a spring and it gets to be too hot to be outside pretty quickly. We actually had to turn on our air conditioning this weekend. Lucklily it is supposed to dip down to the low 80's next weekend.

Lisa We cross posted....I'd love it if you could keep the snow there please! I've had enough of this winter and am very anxious for spring to get here already! It was 11 degrees on my way to work this morning and is to go down in negative temps today with the wind chill-I've had enough! LOL!BTW I saw on weather.com that when Scott leaves for work tomorrow at 5:30 it'll be 6 degrees w/ a -9 windchill! OY!!

Hi ladies -
SO's later. It snowed here overnight and is still snowing but i'm stuck at work. DH took today off and is home with Ollie. Our computer hardrive also went kaput. Our friend came yesterday and got everything we need off of it but it went fast.
Recommendations for laptops (non MAC unfortunately) would be appreciated.
I know this is also wierd to ask because we just had his 1st birthday but i'm in the market for some new/different toys for him. He doesn't play with any of his toys anymore at home. He is very into pots and pans right now but I was wondering if anyone had any recent toy purchases (over 12 months old) that their DC like?
Any info would be great!!! TIA!!!
SO's later, back to work!

Lisa ~ It's been so weird watching thew news with the east coast covered in snow and here people are lying out and getting their pools ready. It is a bit unseasonably warm but this is always a nice time of year!
Megan ~ I do have to say that it is quite nice ;) I definitely couldn't handle snow.
Sashi ~ Speaking from experience I say keep the tupperware cabinet full! For some reason pot, pans, and the boxes the toys come in are the biggest hit for this age group. We keep some wooden spoons and the tupperware handy!
Actually right now Ethan is loving the Parents Goody Goody Gumdrops (http://www.target.com/Parents-Goody-Gumdrops/dp/B000LVHV2I/qid=1236023638/ref=br_1_14/184-7871157-4244805?ie=UTF8&node=161212011&frombrowse=1&rh=&page=1) toy from Target. He loves putting the balls in it and making them come back out.

s&s That toy looks fun-I'll have to look for it, even though DH doesn't want me to buy anymore toys. I told him that I'm done with saving the stuff that DSS has outgrown-there's so much, I just can't find anything!
Sashi Yep, Wyatt also loves the tupperware cupboard and pots & pans. My sister gave us a play kitchen that he just loves!! She also gave us some play food for it & I know that I have a bunch somewhere that I saved from DSS - I just have to find it! I'm also wanting to get him some toy pots & pans and dishes. He loves to put lids on pots and also loves to have things that he can put things in...he'll fill up the toy coffee pot with toy french fries-it's funny! How has Ollie been sleeping?

Sashi - Tripp loves swinging around and banging DH's drumsticks. I try and replace with wooden spoons, but he always seems to find the drumsticks (slightly dangerous!). He loves banging anything that makes noise. I, too, have the tupperware and pots/pans cabinet, although he's less interested in it now than he was. He does love to push the tupperware around though. Push anything, really. He has a push toy he really loves even though he's walking pretty much all over really well now.
I will say that DD never plays with any of her toys. Never has. Plays with anything that is not a toy. Like the box the toy came in ... or pillows .. or I don't know, something I would never think she'd play with. Tripp is similiar but does play with a few toys.
Tripp received that Paren'ts gumball toy that Sparkle posted. We haven't opened it yet, but I think he'll enjoy it since he likes to take things out and put things back in (like shoe boxes, pots and pans, etc).
He did get this toy for his birthday and he seems to really love it. We just opened it on Sunday, but he played with it happily both Sunday and Monday. DD likes it too. The cars race down the track and make a race car type of noise. You have to push a button to make them race down. He loves it. He can push the button and he laughs every time. He tries to put the cars back on the tracks but can't quite figure out how to put them at the very top. When the cars reach the bottom after they race, he goes and gets them and laughs/claps the entire time. He has several Tonka toys and likes them all.

Sashi I also wanted to say that Wyatt loves the big legos- I think they're called Duplo's. They come in a bucket & he loves to dump them out, put them in, and he can even get a few pieces together everynow and then. he especially likes the Duplo "people" and dug through the bin for them yesterday and stacked the 2 people together-it was cute. I got him mega blocks for his birthday since they are easier to put together, but he much prefers the Duplos.

Easter For those who celebrate...are you doing an Easter Basket for your dc & what are you putting in it? I started thinking about this yesterday, we will be doing baskets...is there a baby friendly alternative to that PITA easter grass stuff? I'm thinking I'd just get a little toy and maybe some sort of a treat to eat. We've always loaded DSS's basket up with candy, but he's older, so it's different. Wyatt's too little for candy!
sparkle&shine
03-04-2009, 09:26 AM
Easter for the little ones ~ I don't ever use the plastic grass stuff since it is a PITA to me. I usually get some play clothes and use those to line the bottom and throw in some baby friendly snacks like goldfish and a board book or small toy. Even for my older DS he gets dried fruit since I am not big on letting him have much candy.

Aaron: ear infection (2nd in 3 months) & a cold
Seth: double pink eye
Jackie: pink eye
Me: tummy feeling icky & a cold, finding out tomorrow if I need knee surgery
BAD week here! LOL
BTW on Thursday Aaron was still mostly crawling and only taking about 7-10 steps at a time. On Friday, just 5 days ago, he stopped crawling and is full on walking! I'm glad we got his shoes last weekend! Today I even parked when dropping Jackie off at school (we didn't know about her pink eye until after I picked her up and we took Seth to the doc) and Aaron walked (holding my hand since it was a parking lot) from the parking lot to the school and back!!
Toys: Aaron LOVES all our instruments, but especially the drum sticks. He also LOVES all the cars (he pushes them and says "vroom"), blocks and puzzles, the toy kitchen, and the Little People.
Easter: sorry, can't help you there! LOL

We had Declan's 1st birthday party on his birthday (2/21) and it was a lot of fun. It was a casual party in our local park with picnic food and cupcakes. A good time was had by all, especially Declan when he got his first taste of sugar. :)
Here's some of what Declan is enjoying these days:
Tonka Mighty Truck (http://www.amazon.com/Tonka-Toughest-Mighty-Truck-handle/dp/B00020LXKY/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1236550622&sr=8-1)
(he pushes this all over the house and the backyard-- see photo above)
Water Wheel Play Table (http://www.amazon.com/Step2-GEEal753800-WaterWheel-Play-Table/dp/B000641DPQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1236550834&sr=1-1)
(You can fill it with water or sand- those in colder climates may have to wait until it warms up outside)
Yookidoo Discovery Dome (http://www.amazon.com/Yookidoo-D40111-Discovery-Dome/dp/B0014I90UI)
(LOVES crawling inside it, playing with the keys and balls, hiding other toys in there)

(We have several of these and he likes them a lot)

(Another favorite- he likes the music and movement)

We are taking Ethan for his second haircut this afternoon. His hair is getting in his eyes and everyone has been telling me how beautiful she is ;) I have to agree but she is a he and Andrew always corrects people. Ethan has been calling everything Kitty for the last week or so. The week before everything was fish. It cracks me up. He can point to the pictures in his books if I tell him the word. So he is obviously working on his verbal skills rather than motor skills. He does stand on his own now for short spurts but he is still not walking yet, but Andrew didn't walk until he was 14 months old and it looks like Ethan is following suit.

I've been wanting to take Wyatt for a haircut-it's getting in his eyes & is way over his ears. At the barber shop where DSS goes, you just go & wait-no appointments. Or I could call & make an appointment with my stylist, so we can go & not have the wait. I just have to call I guess-I don't know why I drag my feet on it! Cute about Ethan and his words! Wyatt barely says anything other than nite-nite now. He points to stuff, but doesn't really have much to say I guess.

Hey there! I think this is the first time I've posted in this thread. I have a good excuse though we have all been sick for the past month! Leo started with RSV and as soon as he was done with that...the stomach flu hit. It was awful. He was sick for an entire week (Saturday to the following Sunday). It's only been the past two days that he has been back to normal. DH and I were sick too, thank goodness my mom lives close by and was able to help out. I think the whole week Leo ate a total of a handful of Cheerios and a few bites of applesauce. It was so hard watching my baby be so sick.
His vocabulary is really growing. His new favorite word is "airplane"! He loves to search the sky and point out every airplane he sees or hears.
Mostly I just wanted to come in and say Hello! I'll try to be back with SOs.

I took Wyatt for his haircut this morning. She cut his bangs waaaaay too short :mad: so it'll be awhile before we do 1 year photos now. He's still cute-DH keeps teasing him :rolleyes:. I'll try to post pictures later on. i've been exhausted! I had yesterday off work and took a nice 1 hour nap. Took one this afternoon too, when Wyatt took his nap, but he woke up after only 50 minutes, so it's going to be an early bed time tonight!
I had my first OB appointment yesterday, just the standard stuff. She said that she thought my uterus felt like the right size for where I was. I have an ultrasound next Friday-so keep me in your prayers! DH just realized yesterday that this one will be born right at the very height of hunting season. I never told him the due date because we had a bad convo when I told him I was pg again, so I really haven't been talking to him much about it. :( He's better about it now than he was-but I still don't talk much about it because I don't want to get my hopes up (I haven't been really successful in that either!).
Hope everyone is having a good weekend. It was nice out today, so I took Wyatt outside to play for awhile-he had a grand ole time just walking around the yard. He didn't like the mud much, but maybe he'll warm up to it when we plant our garden in the spring!

McGwigwan-Where did you end up taking him, your hairdresser or the barber? that stinks that she cut it too short! Glad things are going well so far with your pg., I'll be thinking of you on Friday. Sorry about your DH.
laMer-So sorry to hear Leo (and you and DH) have been so sick! It's just awful to see them like that. My older son had the same thing right after he turned 1, where he had the awful stomach bug for a week.. my sympathies I remember it well, but glad to hear he is on the mend.
Sparkle- Too cute about all the words!
Rosebud-Glad to hear Declan is doing well and gaining weight.
We are all doing well over here. Had the last of the birthday parties today, now we are done till next year! ;) But, Drew is full on walking now. He started about a week or so ago and there is no slowing him down now. It's nice because we have a fenced in yard, so with the weather being nicer, Drew is just happy to just wander all around the yard and play with the balls, slide, etc., he cried when we have to go in the house. Other than that, his one word is "kitty", everything else he just points and grunts at. :) Here are a few pics from today/yesterday.

Hey strangers!! I can't believe it's been about a week since I've been in here, so not like me! It was a busy week (so what else is new) and we were gone all weekend, starting with Friday. I think the kids had drop off play dates every day last week and on Wednesday they each had one! :eek:
Anyway, all seems to be going well here. Jackie & Seth's pink eye is cleared up, Aaron's ear infection seems cleared and my sinus infection is cleared up as well. No more meds for anyone, thank goodness! I actually taped a bright piece of paper to the kitchen cabinet saying when we were each done w/ our meds since I was having trouble remembering!! As for my knee, the ortho wants me to exercise and try to build up the muscle for 2 months and see where we are then. The more I move around, the more it KILLS so I know that's not the answer. I'm getting very frustrated and am considering getting a second opinion, but haven't decided yet.
Last week was Purim and the kids had a ball in school at their carnival and we're now starting to get ready for Passover. Spring has arrived, well at least in terms of Jewish holidays! LOL I'm hosting the Seder the first night, like usual, so I'll have A LOT of work to do in the next few weeks getting the house ready and stuff. Then my parents will take the kids to my Nana's nursing home the second night for their Seder and will keep the kids for 2 days while I stay home (alone since Scott will be back at work) w/ Aaron. I'd love to spend the holiday w/ my Nana, but the thought of 2 whole days w/o any driving and w/ just Aaron is like Heaven for me!!
My cousin's son was Bar Mitzvahed on Saturday and my Nana was able to go. It was fabulous to have her there with most of her great grandchildren and some of her grandchildren! Even in her wheel chair, she was on the dance floor dancing in her chair w/ Jackie dancing next to her! Once I upload my pics, I'll have to post that one for you!
As for Aaron, forget full on walking (which he's only been doing for 2.5 weeks), he's climbing and trying to run now as well! He also started dancing this week!! :) He sort of bends down and sticks his tush WAY out and then bops up and down! It's hysterical and he was the hit of the Bar Mitzvah (well my cousin told me all 3 kids were!).
~~~~
Megan, how's Wyatt feeling? How are you feeling? I'm sorry you and DH had a bad convo when you told him about the PGy. What happened, if you don't mind my asking (if you do mind, just ignore me! LOL)
Rosebud, that's great about his weight!! I know what it's like to see that curve go up and how exciting it is! (Jackie wasn't on the charts at all at first).
Sparkle, second haircut? Sheesh!! Aaron's still not anywhere even close to his first!! LOL
la_Mer, RSV? Oh no!! How's Leo feeling? How are you and DH feeling?
Brady, adorable pics! I love the baseball one.. he looks so grown up!
~~~
Haircuts: Is Aaron the only one who hasn't had one yet and is no where near getting one? He's getting hair finally, just not enough to cut yet! Most of it is in the back. Anyway, when we take JP & Seth we go to Snip Its (http://www.snipits.com/) and we LOVE it there! If any of you have one near you, I'd highly recommend them! Jackie's even thinking of having her 6th bday party there!

Brady Wyatt had a pair of camo pants like that-but I think they were a 3 month size! Too cute! I'm jealous that you have a fenced yard! We don't, but we don't have close neighbors either, but it'd be nice to have an area that's fenced to have him in. I am not comfortable with kids being outside without me anyway since we live near the thruway.-I'm sure your little ones aren't out there without you, but when they get older, they'll want to be! Wyatt's a pointer too & doesn't really say much. Nite-nite is pretty much his only consistant word right now. He hasn't even been saying mama & dada !
Lisa Wow-you've been really busy!! My sinus infection cleared up too, still have a cough & hopefully it'll be gone soon. Don't judge DH - he's all stressed about the economy & business has been quite slow ever since the bank bailouts. Anyway, when I told him I was pg (it was first thing in the morning) he said that he couldn't believe it, it's just that the economy was horrible and he had actually been kind of relieved that I had my miscarriage. He immediately apologized and stuff, but I basically spent the whole day crying/trying not to cry over it. It was the worst possible thing he could have ever said to me (yep-I told him so too!). So anyway, I am still pissed that he said it no matter how much he apologizes it won't take it back & the damage was done. So that's why I haven't really talked to him much about it-he does bring it up and has said that it's just the anticipation of it has him nervous and he'll love it once the baby is here, but....sigh! Just fyi-he was upset when I had the miscarriage and cried and said he wanted to TTC again sooner rather than later- his comment just seemed so out of line, for what I saw of him when I miscarried.
We're kind of down at work, so maybe I can upload pics of Wyatt's haircut. BBL later with them!

Megan, {{HUGS}} I'm not judging him at all, don't worry. I'm sure he was just scared of another M/C as well as the economy. I'm sorry her hurt you, though.
I LOVE having a fenced in backyard! First of all, we wouldn't have bought this house w/o a fence since we back up to a major road. We have a full fence plus 20 feet of trees between us and the road so it's perfectly safe. The kids can't open the gates themselves so I'm perfectly fine w/ letting them in the backyard alone. They were just out there earlier this morning while I was doing some cleaning. I keep the sliding glass door open w/ the screen closed, so I can hear them and they run around and have a ball!
I forgot to tell you we took Aaron out back for the first time since last year when he was just a blob. He was apprehensive at first but once he realized he could walk all around and play with the leave sand sandbox and stuff, he had a ball!!

That Superman costume was Seth's Halloween costume when he was the exact same age, 13 months... but it was a bit too small for Aaron! LOL

Megan-Yeah, no Mama Dada here either. He'll babble Mama, but not really in relation to me yet, and I can't even remember him saying Dada! With him being my 2nd though, I am no rush for him to start talking- lol.
Lisa- Drew is still pretty bald on top also, he has most of his hair in the back also, and with it being so light like Aaron's, he still looks like a baldie. I took him to my hairdressers about 3 weeks ago to just trim around his ears, as he had pieces I had to keep tucking behind his ears, :) but she didn't cut anything else- I don't see him needing a real haircut for a while. Connor had one right after he turned 1, it's so funny how different my two boys are.
Is anyone else on 1 nap yet, or still 2? Drew has been trying to figure it out and it's so hard during the transition. A couple of days last week he slept late, so he easily made it till around 1pm and took a 2-3 hour nap. Then he woke up early for a couple of days and took 2 naps, today he was fighting his AM and just when I was going to get him ,he fell asleep a little after 10am and is still asleep now (11:30), the problem with this is I think it will be it for the day and is going to make for a looonng afternoon. If he takes one big one, I'd rather it be in the afternoon. Anyways, I just guess I Have to be consistent and just stick with waiting until after lunch.
ETA- I missed all the pics when I posted. Wyatt's haircut looks cute! I see what you mean with the bangs, but if you just push them to the side, I bet it's not even noticeable. Nice pictures of the kids, Lisa- Aaron reminds me of Drew a lot with the light hair and the cheeks!! ;)

We're still on 2 naps a day here. Sometimes it gets hard since Seth takes 1 and Jackie rests when Seth naps. Aaron usually wakes up about an hour before their nap/ rest time so I'm never w/o any kids at all (unless it's a T or Th when they are both at school). Aaron still goes down about 3 hours after waking up. Usually his am nap is about 2 hours and his pm one can be 1-2 hours, so I'm lucky!

We probably should have tried for a later one yesterday since he slept late (7:20). But he went down for a nap at about 10:00-11:30is) and then in the afternoon went down for a nap at 3 and woke at 3:45! :eek: I thought for sure that he'd have a good afternoon nap because he had been outside for about 30 minutes right after his nap and then another hour at the park after lunch. It may have just been too late for a nap-he had to go to bed early last night at 7:30 and woke at 4:30 but went back to sleep until 6. But yeah, we're mostly on 2 naps still.

Ohh I hae when their naps are really short! If Aaron gets up in less than an hour, I can leave him in there even if he's crying and he'll go back to sleep eventually.

I was just thinking about it this morning - one year ago today, I dressed Wyatt up in "baby's first St.Patrick's day" outfit and was taking pictures and was soooo excited that I caught him smiling in the pictures! How much he's changed since then!!

Leo had another first today...first trip to the ER :eek:! I got a call from his daycare mid-day that he got his finger caught in a door. They called the emergency response team and when I got there (about 15 mins after it happened) he was still screaming. The paramedics suggested I take him to the ER to have X-Rays to make sure his finger wasn't broken. Luckily DH was able to leave work and go with me. Thankfully his finger isn't broken, but it's swollen and bruised and has a big cut. Poor baby. I'm so mad at his daycare teachers. It seems one left the door to their closet slightly open and Leo stuck his fingers in the open hinge side. I'm not sure what to say to them about it. Sure it was an accident, but it seems like it could have been easily prevented :mad:.
megan Wyatt still looks cute, even if his haircut isn't perfect. He always looks like such a happy little guy, it's infectious. Sorry to hear that your DH had a hard time hearing about the pregnancy. Even if you know he'll come around YOU need support right now! I think about you all the time, hoping everything goes smoothly. Please keep up updated!
Lisa Your kids are too cute! They have such personality, it must be so FUN being their mom (and tiring too, LOL). Leo is doing much better (well apart from the trip to the ER). He had RSV (well all did) but got over it just in time to get the stomach flu! February was a rough month in our house.
Brady Leo does one nap at daycare but still two at home on the weekends. I should probably just transition him to one to be consistent but I think we both enjoy our weekend schedule with two naps.

La_Mer Gee!! So glad that it wasn't broken..& yes, they can simply keep the door closed all the way to prevent that. Yikes! We have had a rough winter season in our house with everyone getting sick. I'm hoping that it's over and we'll all be able to be healthy now. It makes me fear for having a baby right before winter begins....we will definately all be getting flu vaccs & whooping cough vaccinations this year!! Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts! I have my ultrasound on Friday & can't wait and will update as soon as I get back to work from it!
Lisa Yep-you have a jolly bunch-better to be kept on your toes than having to entertain them!
Yeah-I have come to love Wyatt's little haircut. He looks like such a little boy and he has been sooooo smiley this week it's adorable. Last week he had the worst poopy diapers and we couldn't figure it out until the end of the week-he was getting his upper canines in-they came through over the weekend, so he's got quite a set of teeth now and no more bad diapers - yay!

I feel like I've been gone forever! How is everyone? I'll do some catching up tomorrow.
I went out of town for business last week. I was in Hilton Head from Tues - Friday. It was nice to get some time to relax, but I really just missed the kids. Flew into Atlanta Friday night and drove to Daytona to see my family. Of course Tripp still hates the car so we ended up having to pull over and get a hotel for Friday night. Ugh. Poor kid hates the car. Does anyone have any suggestions? He's turned around and everything. I'm out of ideas! Just got home from Florida last night. Feels good to be home!
I think Tripp is working on more teeth. Maybe the canines. He had some crazy poop that actually gave him such bad diaper rash that he was bleeding just a tad on his bottom. Of course that happened while I was out of town. He was running a fever yesterday and last night and grunting in his sleep. I took him to the dr. today and fully expected another ear infection but the dr. said he was completely healthy, didn't even think he has a virus. So crazy! The one time I totally am proactive and make a sick appointment without thinking about it, wondering if I should or shouldn't take him, I just take him ... and nothing. LOL Looks like maybe he is having some teething issues.
Tripp is all but running these days. He's into everything! OMG he's just crazy. I can't blink without him getting into something. Love him though. He and Sophie are really interacting these days and it warms my heart. Speaking of Sophie, she's in her big girl bed tonight. First night! So far so good.
Ok, off to read about what's going on with you girls.

Tammie Wyatt had really bad poopy diapers for about a week while his canines were coming in. I let him have more bottles than I should have because he wasn't eating well either. His ears bugged him too & I was hoping it was due to the canines. One was bugging him again last night, but no fever, so I don't know what the deal is.
Lisa Yay!! Did the tooth fairy come too??
Nothing new here, excited that my ultrasound is tomorrow...it's finally getting here!

Two big milestones going on with me. First, we transitioned Sophie to her big girl bed on Wednesday. She loves the bed. She wants to jump on it none stuff, but she loves laying in it too. First night went well. She went right to sleep and woke up briefly, but went back to sleep with a little pat on her head. Last night was a little more difficult. She had a hard time getting to sleep and we had to go in to settler her numerous times. But, once asleep, she did not wake up. She wasn't feeling well last night so hopefully that was the problem. We'll see what tonight holds. It feels weird to have my little baby girl in a big girl bed!
Second milestone, I'm done with nursing. It's been hard to let go, but I finally decided yesterday that I would wean. I had weaned down to feeding just at night. I did that just before I left for my business trip. I pumped while I was gone, but got such a small amount that I figured either my supply was down or Tripp really wasn't eating much any longer. I think it's the latter because he really only nurses a few minutes before he falls asleep. So I had a few beers with dinner last night and decided I would let DH put Tripp to sleep and I wouldn't pump. I feel sad that I'm done, I really loved this time with Tripp. But, at the same time, it's nice to not worry about pumping ever again. That's the positive! LOL!
Awesome news Megan!! I'm so excited for you. I can live another pregnancy vicariously through you! :) I'm sorry that your DH said those things about your pregnancy. But I'm sure he didn't mean it. I guess DH's are allowed to get stressed over things just like we do and are allowed to vent. Problem with most guys is they say stupid, hurtful things before they realize how stupid they sound. You know? I'm sure he'll grow to love this pregnancy daily and once baby is born he'll realize what a dumb thing he said. Guys, you know?!
Oooh, Del, Addison is a slow tooth getter (ok that sounds stupid but I'm leaving it to show how brain dead I am today). Reminds me of Sophie. She didn't get her first tooth until after she turned 10 months. She only had 2 by 1 year. You are lucky that you got to enjoy that gummy smile for so long! Can't wait to see an updated pic of her with her new teeth!
Lisa - Look at Jackie with a missing tooth!! I thought Sophie's milestone of moving to a big girl bed was a big one, but looks like you have a bigger one. Wow. Did the toothfairy hit your house? What did she leave for Ms. Jackie?

Tammie Thanks! Yes, DH is trying his hardest now, in fact he was calling me as I was walking out of my ultrasound appointment. He didn't go with because he had an appointment, who ended up being a no show anyways...grrrrr! Does Tripp drink a bottle then, or is he just on sippies now? The only reason I'm asking is because Wyatt is very attached to his bottles now and I have to wean him of those...but I do love my time with him before bed when he has his bottle! Congrats on the weaning! (even though you have mixed feelings!) I was thinking that it'd be very difficult on Wyatt to be weaned at this age and am glad I did it earlier!
DelSol Yay-another tooth! So is it her 2 bottom ones she has now?
Lisa I want to know what the tooth fairy brought too!

Megan I'm so happy to hear that your u/s went well.
Tammie Deciding to wean is so hard, good for you for recognizing that it's time. I'm guessing that the decision to wean is the hardest part, once it's done it's probably very liberating. I was *this* close to weaning Leo, then he got the stomach flu and would only take breastmilk. Now I have no idea when we'll stop, but probably in the next month or so.

What a week!!! Jackie & Aaron have ear infections, and Aaron & Scott have pink eye! I can't believe how much we've seen the ped recently! She said that if Aaron or Jackie get 1 more ear infection it's off to the ENT for them... :( Jackie's on her 2nd in one month and it's only 6 months after her tubes came out. Aaron is on his 3rd since December!! :eek:
Aaron cut 2 teeth last week so he'll have 8. As Jackie loses teeth, Aaron gets teeth!
We're down to nursing 3 times a day and the hormone change is hitting me hard! I did 4 times a day for a month and I'll do 3 times for a month, then 2 times for a month, etc. I should be done totally by June 15, when he hits 16 months. I get a bit engorged in the morning and I'm definitely crankier than usual! It's hard for me knowing the end is in sight and this is my last baby, but I'm also excited to be able to start losing weight and to finally get my body back to belonging to me after almost 6 years of giving it up to my kids! Scott also said I can get some new Victoria Secret bras once my boobs get back to their normal size!!
I have some pics I want to share and a video of Aaron dancing (or jumping, they look exactly the same) but I'm too tired to upload anything right now! LOL
So the tooth fairy gave Jackie $2 (for the first tooth only and it'll be $1 after that). We weren't sure what the "going rate" is so we figured $2 for the 1st and $1 afterward is ok. Her other bottom tooth and her top 2 are all loose as well!!
~~~
Tammie, congrats to Sophie on her big girl bed! Does she have a toddler bed or a twin? Congrats on how far you nursed Tripp!!! How are you doing emotionally w/ the weaning? I'm going nuts here! Oh, and Jackie's milestone isn't bigger than Sophie's, just different!
Megan, congrats on the good news! Oh, ear infections are not contagious at all, according to our ped.
Dana, yippee for tooth #2!
Oh, ear infections are not contagious at all, according to our ped.
Lisa Yeah, I didn't think so, just didn't want to have to argue something like that - too tired to start! LOL! I think that's a good amount for the tooth fairy to give. They loose them in spurts. I swear that it seemed like DSS lost 4 of them within a month of each other! I don't blame you for not uploading pics because you're too tired. I was doing a monthly eamil on Wyatt with a little blurb about him and photos. I still have yet to do his 1 year email....but i also did tell everyone that once I did the year one, I was going to be not sending them anymore.
Tammie I forgot to say....Yay for Sophie in her big girl bed!!! I'm curious too-is it a twin or toddler bed? Instead of getting another crib for baby#2 we're going to try to get Wyatt in a toddler bed. He's young though, so we'll see. I know my DH will probably want to go to a twin, but I think I'll go ahead and spend the $$ on a toddler bed-they're not that much & I'll feel better if he's in something smaller (lower!).
We had a busy weekend it seems. I think I wasted the day away yesterday and took the boys shopping with me in the afternoon. Had to get some shorts & cleats for DSS and some new bottles for Wyatt since all our Playtex ones now leak & I can't find new nipples where I live! Wyatt woke up at 3:30am last night & DH ended up waking me up because he could not get him to drink from the new bottle-which he did fine last night and all day today, so I was up at 3:30 and don't think I was able to get back to sleep! I'm hoping we don't have a repeat tonight!
Lisa Cute Video & pictures from the Gym! He's such a ham!!
We went to my IL's yesterday afternoon & I feel horrible because their livingroom is raised -there are 2 doorways in & you have to go up 2 steps. Why she won't get gates is beyond me, but of course, Wyatt & his little cousin were both there. I was playing with my niece when DH handed me Wyatt ( he was crying over something) so I stood up with him to show him some pictures to distract him & before I knew it my niece had fallen down the 2 steps :(. I know that these things happens, but really-when we were all there at Christmas time we thought gates would be a good idea. MIL & FIL are not financially strapped and the cheap gates at Walmart are on $12. I'm getting them for their house-there's just no reason to not have them. I feel horrible she fell!:(
Weaning - Doing ok emotionally. Easier than I expected. I think LaMer is right in that it's hardest just making the decision to ahead and wean rather than the actual weaning. I'm giving him a bottle, so I'm still doing the routine of pointing him to bed which is really the part I love. Tripp also did fine. Hasn't tried to nurse or anything. Just happy go lucky all the time. I'm lucky there.
Toddler Bed - Couple of you asked about the toddler bed for Sophie. She is doing great! We had 2 or 3 nights where she didn't want to go to sleep and she cried and carried on, but other than that she's done fine. I'm really proud of her. She loves her new bed now.
She's actually in a full size bed. Her crib transitioned to a bed and that's the size it takes. It does also transition to the toddler crib, but I figured why go through 2 transitions - crib to toddler and toddler to regular bed? I thought it would be easier to just do one transition, especially since she's already 2.5 years old. She handled it well.
Megan - Yep, I give Tripp a bottle at night now. It's the only bottle he gets. The rest of the day he gets sippies. I know all bottles are supposed to be stopped at 12 months, but I nursed past that. It was natural to me to go to bottles. Once DH is home and not traveling, I'll stop bottles. I just to have backup in case it's not easy. I need someone to help put Sophie to sleep if I can't get Tripp asleep. I don't suspect it will be a huge problem though. When I was nursing, Tripp always fell asleep and I put him down asleep. I'm sorry, but I just wasn't going to wake him just to put him in his crib. But with the bottle, he doesn't fall asleep. He becomes drowsy, but doesn't fall asleep. I lay him in the crib awake and he rolls over and goes to sleep. Hopefully it will be the same way when there is no more bottle. I try to read him books, too, but he wants no part of that bedtime ritual. Like you, I really love the snuggle time that goes along with feeding at bedtime. I'm going to miss it. Boo. Oh! My dr. said ear infections aren't contagious. I asked the last time Tripp had one. If I understand correctly, the virus that baby gets before the ear infection is, but by the time the ear infection is there then it's not contagious any more. I think that's right.
LaMer - Hi! You are right. Totally harder to make the decision to quit nursing than to actually stop. It's a head game. I thought you had actually weaned Leo. I remember he got sick and you nursed, but I thought you only did it until he was better. Well, take your time and do it when it's right for both you and Leo. How is he?
Lisa - Tripp has that same Born to Rock shirt that Aaron has! :) Saw the video on FB .. adorable. Your kids seem to be so well-behaved always and so happy to be playing together. Must warm your heart. I love watching Sophie & Tripp play and hope they stay sweet to each other as they grow up. Some of the toothfairies in my neighborhood bring $20 for the first tooth and then $5 or $10 for additional teeth. Isn't that crazy?
Hey Ladies.
Thanks for asking about Leo. After our trip to the ER last week, all has been calm on the sickness/injury front. Now I just have to work in getting him to sleep through the night again. I guess he got used to getting up with mommy again. I just can't CIO because every time I tried in the past I always found that he really did need something. So I just can't let him cry without feeling like something is really wrong. I'm not too worried about it, just really really tired. I know he can sleep all night so he'll go back to it eventually. Once I get up with him and get him settled I do put him in his crib and he goes back to sleep.
Lisa I'm sorry to hear that the hormone change is hard on you. It's good that you are weaning so gradually. Cute cute pics of Aaron, he looks like such a confident, happy kid.
Megan My DH would probably say the same thing about having someone with an ear infection over. He has funny ideas about germs and how they are spread. It's interesting that he was ok with DSS going over to the kids house. Maybe he was trying to protect you from getting sick :D?
tammie I almost weaned Leo but he's such a boob man, and I'm a sucker so we are still going strong. I only nurse morning and night during the week but I find it so hard to say no during the day on the weekends. He also doesn't like to take bottles from me. I think the next step is to cut out the morning session. Wow, Sophie has a full size bed all to herself, what a treat. That would be like if I had a King size all to myself, how luxurious, LOL.
Tammie I think it's going to take me a while to get Wyatt off the bottle. I give him one in the morning and 1 at night. Plus on the weekends, I'll give him small ones before naps. The sitter also gives him one when he gets up from his afternoon nap. The kid gets probably 24-30oz or so of milk a day in bottles! :eek: I think on the high side, but the pediatrician didn't think it was anything I had to worry about, just said it's not cool to have a toddler walking around with a bottle. That's pretty much all he said on bottles.
We have the problem of Wyatt not drinking really well out of sippies-he spits a lot out and plays with them. I am going to have to just bite the bullet some weekend and give only sippies all day to get him switched over! I alsways find a reason not to do it though!
La_mer Glad everyone is staying healthy there. I think that part of DH not wanting the kid over was that we have all been sick excessively this year-him, me & Wyatt-he didn't want any new germs introduced into the house-we have enough of our own it seems!
Lisa Talking about cell phones - Wyatt had one of those Duplo's that had a door on it last night-he'd open the door and put it to his head & babble. I swear he was pretending he had a cell phone-it was too cute!
Hey everyone!!! As usual it's been a crazy busy week for us. I feel like I have no time to do anything anymore, especially online! Scott's going away tomorrow until late Thursday and Passover is next week so I'll be busy again this coming week since I do the first Seder here every year. I'm so excited, though, my mom bough tix for her, me, Jackie & Seth to see Mamma Mia on Broadway on the 7th!! It's a 2 for 1 w/ kids going free and it was her treat! I haven't seen it since it first came out years ago and the kids are so obsessed by the movie they'll have a blast! Scott's staying home w/ Aaron.
Weaning: How are my fellow weaners doing?
Tammie, how's Sophie doing w/ her new bed? It definitely made sense at her age to skip the toddler bed step. It's funny you said bottles need to be gone by 12 months. Our ped says 15-18 months although w/ Jackie & Seth I gave myself a 15 month goal. Why do all docs have different guidelines for the same thing? One thing I've been doing w/ Aaron at night (I still do my 3rd nursing of the day before bed) to help him be able to go to bed w/o any nursing or sippy or anything is that I now nurse him downstairs before we go up to get ready for bed. This way he's starting to not associate it w/ going to bed. Funny you said my kids seem so well behaved when Jackie's in her room right nwo for not listening all morning! LOL She's getting a little attitude and we don't know what to do about it. I can't believe how much the toothfairy brings to some families by you! OMG! :eek:
la_Mer, how's Leo feeling? How's he sleeping? It's funny, Aaron is a boob man as well but he seems fine w/ the weaning and will happily take his sippy of milk. He doesn't come to me begging to nurse but he'll happily climb p on me if he sees me reaching under my shirt to undo my bra! LOL
Megan, my kids always drank a TON of milk, even more than what's recommended, and there's never been any problems. They say if you give more, it'll fill up the child and they won't be hungry to eat, and eating has never been an issue in our house! We don't give juice until they are 3 and in school (it's easier to send in juice boxes) and the kids aren't crazy about water so it's usually milk. How are you feeling?
mcgwigan
03-29-2009, 06:24 PM
Lisa I've tried juice with Wyatt, but he just will.not drink it - fine by me, I'd rather him not have it, but it would be nice if he would drink a little apple juice when he gets constipated! I've been cutting his bottles down to 5 oz with a little more before bed, so today actually we did well with 4 bottles, so he only had about 22 oz of milk all day-which I think is fine. I gave him a sippy of water at my grandma's house today and eat sip he let run down his chin so he was wet right down to his pants within minutes! I think he did it more to show off-he pulled out all the cute tricks for her & my parents!
I'm feeling OK-thanks! Nauseus on & off-mainly when I don't eat and tired. I would love to be able to take a nap every day! It's reassuring because I got my energy back too early with the last one! I have another OB appointment next Thursday & hopefully we'll be able to hear the heart beat on the doppler - I'll be 11 weeks.
I can't remember where I"ve posted, but I ended up telling my co-workers that I'm pregnant again on Friday. I've been struggling to stay awake all afternoon everyday and I usually feel really sick around 12:00 for a while-usually until I go to lunch-even though I've been eating at my desk all morning! They were all happy and excited for me & it was good to be able to get it out in the open! Now I can feel free to wear maternity clothes-yup-already! I brought them up from the basement this morning-basically all my pants are too tight already!!:eek: I've got like 1 pair of regular pants that fit, only because I bought them right when I went back to work after Wyatt, so they're a size bigger than my regular ones.
OK-sorry about the rambling! Hope everyone is doing well & enjoying nicer weather!!
So I have to share (ie brag) about how smart Aaron is! Yesterday we were heading out to ILs for their anniversary and I noticed Aaron had taken off one of his socks. It was just Aaron & Seth in the room w/ me so I asked Seth if he had seen what Aaron did with his sock. I looked all around and didn't see it. After I asked Seth about 2 times, he cried out excitedly that Aaron found it! Aaron heard me asking Seth about it, understood me, remembered where he put it, got it, and handed it to me!!! :eek::D
Well we're off the the ENT in a few weeks... Aaron has his 3rd ear infection in a month!!!! :eek::eek: He had one on 12/18 and then 3/3, 3/19 and today!!! My poor baby! I'm afraid he might need tubes since it's hereditary and Jackie 7 I both had them. Jackie told me 2 days ago her ear hurts so I have to keep an eye on her since the ped said 1 more for her and it's off o the ENT again! Scott's away in Memphis until Friday and between that and having a sick baby, I'm feeling very overwhelmed this week....
Lisa I missed your post from the other day - too cute about the sock. Wyatt tries to put his back on-very unsuccessfully. Sorry about the ear infections! I am so glad that Wyatt hasn't had one yet since my mom is convinced that my ear infections and tubes led to my hearing loss. She always said that my hearing was perfect before tubes. All I can do is hope that Wyatt will escape it!
Nothing much new with us. Target has the Elmo Live doll on sale this week for $29 and Walmart also lowered their price to match so I picked one up yesterday for Wyatt & I will put it away for Christmas. I had just shown it to him in Target on Saturday & he LOVED it and cried when I took it away & put it back on the shelf. With a new baby coming and I'm hoping to be able to take 12 weeks off, i'm going to be broke. I'm hoping that I can have all my Christmas shopping done by the time the baby comes so I don't have to do it while I'm out of work!
Yeah Aaron has also been trying to do things like put on his socks and shoes or brush his hair! Just now I wiped his nose w/ a tissue and as he tried to grab it from me, a piece got stuck on his hand and he tried to wipe me nose! LOL
From everything I know about ear tubes (from me, my brother, Jackie and my friends who's kids had them) they are supposed to help your hearing, not make it worse. Jackie went form 20% loss to perfect hearing w/ hers.
Good idea about doing your holiday shopping early. We had ours done by the summer last year since there were a ton of sales!
So when I took Wyatt to daycare this morning, he went straight over to the table where she had put some Cheerios for him. She had told me that he likes these new Bannana Cheerios and said that again this morning. I had not heard of or seen them and neither had one of the other mother's that was there. The daycare provider said "yeah, they're Bannana Nut Cheerios" and I told her that I hadn't given him nuts or peanut butter yet, I'd been holding off for that. She felt really bad about it and it really hadn't occured to her - she said she didn't think there were really nuts in them. I told her if she read the ingredients she would probably find that there are (there are).
I'm actually OK with it since he hasn't had a reaction or anything, but Jeepers - that could be a little dangerous to not pay attention like that-yikes! She did feel bad and said that surely he must have had something with nuts or peanut butter - nope-nothing! I'd been waiting! Not that I'm going to go hog wild with giving him all sorts of peanut stuff, but gee!
Why MUST he have had something w/ nuts in it? He's only 13.5 months old!! I'm glad to know there are nuts in it since all 3 of my kids are allergic to peanuts, we know to avoid those Cheerios!
I know - she was like for certain that I had given him something with nuts...but no, I have intentionally not. Well the name Bananna NUT would give you a clue!
I wanted to mention yesterday, you talked about Aaron brushing his hair. Wyatt loves, loves, loves to brush his hair and wants to use a real brush to do it, not his baby hair brush! It's just too cute. I will probably pick him up his very own brush for his Easter Basket. (It's not like he's going to be getting peanut butter eggs in it! LOL!)
Yeah I guess the nut would give a clue! I missed that part of your post! LOL Aaron doesn't even own a brush since he doesn't need one yet! He likes to "use" Jackie's! He also hands us our jackets when he sees we're getting ready to leave the house, and he even knows whose jacket is who's!
Megan ~ at least Wyatt loves to brush his hair, when I try to brush Addison's she has a fit.
Lisa ~ hope Aaron is doing ok with his ear infection.
I've been following along, not really posting. Work is work, meeting going on today to decide what to do, reduction in force or leave everything alone and hope we get a couple big jobs in soon. :(
Addison is doing good. Getting bigger and smarter every day. Now she is climbing on our furniture and when we tell her no and take her off, she cries. I'm hoping it gets old fast and she'll go back to playing with her toys.
Hi to everyone else!!!!!
heee, heeee!! Wyatt hates to be told "no" too. He'll go play with the cat food and we'll tell him "no" sometimes we have to tell him multiple times but he'll stop what it was and come crying to me with his arms up in the air. I give him a hug & tell him he's a good boy. It's really working...he no longer cries when I tell him "no" to the cat food-he just goes on to something else.
It's so adorable!
I hear you because I have to try not to laugh because sometimes, she'll look at me pout, cry and when I take her off the sofa, sometimes she even rolls on the floor crying. And I'm trying not to laugh because nothing is wrong with her and she acts like there is something wrong. I do end up picking her up and telling her she's ok.
Tripp = no more bottles! Actually, he hasn't had a bottle since last Saturday. We went to our friends' house Saturday and we stayed very late. We had to put Tripp down there so DH just went upstairs, rocked him, and laid him down. It was that easy. And that's what we've done every night. So bedtime is really easy now. I'm can't believe it was that easy. I don't know why, it was that easy with Sophie too. Neither one missed the bottle.
I ran 5 miles today! This is huge for me. I've never run this far. When I started running before I had Tripp, I had never even run a mile (grade school excluded). I was just hitting my stride when I found out I was pregnant with Tripp and had to stop running. I made a New Years Resolution that I would run the Peachtree Road Race this year. It's a 10k. I just decided I wanted to do it. Prior to Jan 1, I never wanted to run further than 3 miles. Running gets addicting though. Every time I reach a new mile, I want to go another. I hadn't run in weeks then I ran 3 miles last week, 4 miles on Tuesday and 5 today. Hopefully I can keep it up. Hopefully I get a number for the Peachtree! I screwed up the registration, long story, but they have 10,000 numbers left and they are going in a lottery. Let's up me and DH get numbers. DH ran in 2 years ago. It's a huge thing in ATL. Everyone just wants to run to get the coveted race shirt. It's true. Run a 10k just for a shirt. But people who live here are proud to wear that shirt.
I'm also really intense with my running now, because I have to lose 15 or 20 lbs. I just have to. We are going to Hawaii in August. WOOHOO ... I'm so excited. Our friend's sister owns a condo by the Ritz in Maui and they invited us to go there with them for 7 days. So we are going! We also cashed in all our skymiles and we are flying for free in first class both ways ... YES .. fantastic trip for free ... now I just need an acceptable bikini body. LOL I had lost 10 lbs and was looking better, but miraculously gained it all back the month I didn't run. Boo.
megan - that's really weird about the nut thing, i think ... especially for a daycare provider. i mean, they need to be extra careful and not many babies have nuts. that's weird to me. you feeling ok? how many weeks are you now? i can't wait to hear if you are having a boy or girl!
lisa - what in the world were y'all doing today? gardening? messy!! lol looks like you guys had fun. tripp does those things that aaron does as well. i'm amazed every day at the things he understands. i thought it was tripp, but now i'm wondering if it's a younger sibling thing .. like they are smarter because they watch us and other kids do things? i don't know. tripp likes to try to just walk down stairs ... like regular walk, not step down, so last night i said "tripp, sit on your bottom and scoot down" ... he kids sat right down and scooted down. i was like "really? what the heck" ...i thought it was crazy. i think we have some smart boys!
dana - eek about your company. i hope it works out for you. is your mom still watching addison?
Delsol I hope your work meeting goes OK...are you a decision maker that is in on all the decisions? What field are you in? Just curious. I know it's been hard on you with longer hours...this economy sucks! big time!
tammie I saw on FB that you've been running a lot --that's great!! Awesome about the trip to Hawaii-I'm jealous!! Too funny about Tripp being so easy going about the bottles and doing what you suggested with the stairs. I also agree that we have some smart little ones...I'm amazed all the time at the stuff Wyatt does! I'm 10w now, as of yesterday, so far, so good! I've been awfully tired and more nauseus with this one, but I'll take it...all very reassuring to me. AND my BB's got bigger - I was worried last time because they didn't remember? It's a big deal to me because I am pathetically small and really enjoyed actually having boobs while I was pregnant & nursing...they did not stay after Wyatt, they went right away...even before I stopped nursing! I have my next OB appointment next Thursday and will be getting the NT scan the following week.
I still haven't told many people IRL that I'm pregnant - just the 2 sets of parents & co-workers & my brother. Not even my sister or grandma know...I'm pretty proud. Yesterday I was talking to my SIL and she was telling me how she's joined a gym and started tanning-getting ready for summer. It was on the tip of my tongue to tell her, no me, I'm just gonna get fat! But, I didn't! It's hard though - I'm glad I have CC as an outlet! LOL!
Megan, actually we just went outside in the back since it was 68 degrees. Jackie found a puddle since it rained the day before and all the kids gravitated towards it. We deiced to just let them go at it and Aaron joined in the fun! LOL
Tammie, yippee for no more bottles! Way to go Tripp!! Great job w/ the running!! I can't believe you're going to Hawaii for FREE!!! No way!!!! With all that running, you'll look gorgeous! LOL We were just playing in the yard and the kids found the mud puddle! I can't believe Tripp walks down the stairs already!! We can't even get Aaron to crawl down since he always tries to go back up! LOL
Hi Ladies -
Haven't been around in a while. Still half reading along. Been a very strange 3 weeks. Ollie got another round of the GI issues. Had to take off a week of work and he started feeling better finally. Then.......he got Hand, Foot & Mouth last week! It's been a rough 2nd year so far for Ollie. He's all better now but we have some issues.
#1 - He won't nap during the day in his crib. He actually won't nap anywhere but the car and that is an absolute last resort. This has been going on since he started on a cot at daycare (February 27th). I don't want to buy a bed yet or a cot because he's ok in his crib at night and i'm not ready for a bed with him yet. I don't know what else to do. he did fall asleep yesterday (Sunday) in his crib after a couple minutes of crying but that wasn't until 1:30pm. he slept for only an hour when he normally sleeps for 2 at daycare.
#2 - Temper tantrums, anger, extreme screaming and crying. Anyone else experiencing this? It's extreme, we are shocked by how different he is all the sudden. When he doesn't get his way with something as little as a toy he can't find or the wrong type of cup for his milk he FREAKS out totally. He's also no longer ok in the car. No matter if he has a binky (which he doesn't seem to like anymore) or his little einstein videos. he freaks out once he realizes he is strapped into his carseat. He screams the entire drive home from daycare and then doesn't calm down for at least 20 minutes until he's out of the car.
I hope you are all well. i'm just overwhelmed with work and some personal issues to post a lot.
Sashi Sorry to hear about the issues!! Wyatt has been fighting his naps on the weekends also. Saturday was an OK day nap-wise. A little short on the afternoon nap, but we did get 2 of them in. Sunday he had a morning nap-on & off for about 1 1/2 or 2 hours and then no nap in the afternoon. He was in his crib for an hour and never went to sleep. He was so miserable by 5:30 that I put him in his crib and he did go to sleep from 6-6:30 then went to bed by 7:30. Naps at daycare were a little on the short side yesterday. I'm not sure what the deal is-if maybe he's trying to go to just one nap? Nothing has changed in his sleeping arrangements at home or daycare.
Wyatt has been super clingy with me. He's fine as long as I'm sitting on the couch-he'll play. As soon as I start to do something though-he wants me to pick him up. It's a challenge just to make dinner & do dishes. Last night he cried almost the whole time becuase he wanted me to hold him. He wouldn't play with DSS. It's just me that he's like this with too. This morning I got up earlier so I could spend a bit more time with him before we had to leave, hoping it will help. I'm wondering though, if it's because I'm pregnant. I've heard of toddlers all of a sudden becoming clingy when mom becomes pregnant. I'm hoping this phase passes soon whatever it is. One thing, is that I'm trying to just keep my cool and not do anything different and make sure to give him plenty of positive reinforcement.
Sashi, I'm sorry you have so much going on. I don't know what to say about his napping at home. Can you try a make shift cot (like a rest towel or something) at home for naps so it's similar to daycare?
Megan, it's definitely possible he senses something new going on. Even though he's young, do you talk to him at all about the baby in your belly? Maybe it'll help him to get a baby doll to take care of?
Well Aaron's on day 3 of a fever and this morning it was up to 103!! :eek: I took him to the ped yesterday (day 6 of a 10 day antibiotic) and it turns out this one wasn't doing anything for him. We're thinking the fever was because it was like the ear infection wasn't treated. He's on a new one now (his 4th since March 3rd) and this one BETTER work!! 2 weeks from tomorrow is his ENT appt and I'm very anxious to go and get his ears taken care of. He's been napping a lot but I know it's because of being sick. Motrin does wonders and once it kicks in, he has no fever and is perfectly happy, but when it wears off he's miserable again.
Tonight my mom & I are taking Jackie & Seth to The City to see Mamma Mia on Broadway and I don't know who's more excited, us or them!! I don't think I've been a Broadway show since Scott & I saw Mamma Mia a week before it opened and the kids are IN LOVE w/ the movie (they know ALL the songs by heart) so it's going to be a blast! Of course it's an 8 pm show and their bedtime is 7:30 so they'll be exhausted when we get home, so will I! We won't get home until about midnight!
Tomorrow night is the first night of Passover so anyone who celebrates, enjoy your seder! We're having both our parents here and I spent the entire day yesterday cleaning the house and doing all my prep work expect cooking, which will be all morning tomorrow. Then my parents are taking the kids Thursday through Saturday so I'm alone w/ Aaron Thurs & Fri and I can't wait for my mini vacation (although I will miss the kids)!
Megan-How many weeks are you now? I don't have the experience with that young of a child, but I know with my son (who was 2 when I got pregnant), he def. went through that super clingy phase, just sort of "knowing"...
Sashi- So sorry. Drew is def. more tempermental now also when he doesn't get what he wants (which is usually something he shouldn't have of his brothers, 90% of the time!). :) It's tough, I just try to immediately redirect him to something he *can* do, in our case. The carseat thing is tough. My older son was miserable in his seat right up till about 18 months, I got a portable DVD player which worked from about 15-18 months and then I just phased it out and he was fine again.. but it was soooo frustrating in that time. Hang in there, I hope it passes quickly.
LOL- completely unrelated, but my 4 year old just asked me if I had a dream last night.. I told him I couldn't remember it, and he said "Are you sure you didn't dream about Barbie?". ;) Gotta run, I told him we could head outside while Drew napped...
Lisa Have fun at the show!! No, I haven't talked to Wyatt at all about the baby because we still are waiting to tell DSS. I figure Wyatt doesn't have the sense of time, so figured I'd wait til later this sumemr or early fall to start talking to him about it.
Brady I'll be 11w on Thursday - time seems to drag. I have an OB appt on Thursday and can't wait to go & hear the heartbeat!! Maybe your DS had a dream about you & Barbie and that's why he asked you about it. Too funny. Glad your weather's nice enough to play outside. We have snow here!!
When he doesn't get his way with something as little as a toy he can't find or the wrong type of cup for his milk he FREAKS out totally. He's also no longer ok in the car.
I have no idea what happened but all of the sudden I have the whineiest baby ever. He also freaks in his carseat now. I have no idea what triggered this but I hope it passes soon for both our sakes. . He wants to be held all the time and is still freaking out if I leave the room. It is driving me bonkers and I am not sure how to handle it properly since DS1 never acted like this.
But in GOOD news.....Ethan finally strung a few steps together. I think he may be the only one in the group not walking yet! So he is starting to take a few steps so I am sure he will off an running in no time!
Man, Tripp has started to hit. Great! I’m the mom of the little bully in the one year old room. Perfect. Ok, not really. We haven’t gotten any reports from school – yet – about Tripp’s hitting, but I have witnessed it firsthand. Last week I was at a friend’s house. Her son was born about an hour before Tripp. They are good buddies. Tripp is walking, the other boy is not. Tripp was hitting him on the head. I thought maybe he was playing, but I don’t think he was. Yesterday he hit DH on the head. Today he hit me … multiple times … then started to laugh. I mean seriously? I think he thinks it’s a game. He definitely likes to see our facial reaction, so now we are trying not to react. How do you even really discipline a 1 year old. We didn’t have this problem with Sophie. He hit me several times in the face tonight so I put him in time out. That’s the stupidest thing for a 1 year old, but I tried it. He just screamed and kicked then got out of timeout and ran away. Ugh. Any suggestions?
We did have a really nice Easter. Tripp did excellent at all the Easter egg hunts we went to (3 – neighborhood, birthday party, school). He did much better than Sophie. He was actually interested in finding the eggs and putting him in his basket while Sophie was only interested in what was inside the egg. Same as last year. LOL I tried to explain that if she collected more eggs she would get more of the prizes inside the egg, but she didn’t care. They were both really cute. I’ll post a picture. It really was a nice Easter. Church was nice because we went with all of John’s family. The only glitch was the tornado warning that almost came to reality. They had to move all the kids from Waumba Land into the halls and the service was delayed. We could hear the hail on the roof, extra loud because the roof is metal. Power flickered. I just kept thinking we would be fine because we were in a house of God, right? LOL It was a nice service. Felt bad about not going to Mass, but I really enjoy the church that I attend with DH so this was my first year as a “bad†Catholic. Dad wasn’t too happy about that.
We got a train table for the kids. They both love it! I was surprised to see that Tripp actually plays with it the correct way moving the trains up and down the track. Pretty cool. Sophie is in love with Thomas so this is right up her alley.
Sashi – Hi! I never got to weigh in on what was going on with Ollie. First, I hope you are doing ok. You said you were overwhelmed yourself because of work and personal issues. I hope things have gotten better for you personally. Secondly, is Ollie feeling better? Has he started calming down a little bit? I can certainly sympathize with the crying in the car. That’s been Tripp for nearly a year and he has gotten much better since turning around the car seat. I was hoping that would be the saving grace, but not so much.
Brady – Pretty funny about the Barbie/dream comment!! LOL
S&S – Beautiful pictures of Ethan. He looks so happy! Awesome that Ethan is walking. Be prepared …. Two walkers is something else LOL … lots of fun, but I’m tired from chasing both kids. It’s crazy that we are all experiencing these tantrums. Tripp doesn’t really have tantrums per se, but he does yell at me … I feel like I’m an old lady and we’ve been married for 50 years .. he yells “Ma†.. “Ma†… until I answer him. It drives me bonkers!
Megan – How’s it going? Feeling good? How’s Wyatt?
Lisa – How’s it going with you? The kids still on their Broadway – Mama Mia high? I think it’s so awesome that they got to go to a show at their age. Some people never make it to Broadway (as sad as that may be) … do you take them to the City often?
That’s the stupidest thing for a 1 year old, but I tried it. He just screamed and kicked then got out of timeout and ran away. Ugh. Any suggestions?Actually, they (well my ped LOL) say you can start doing time out at a year. He may not understand it yet but he'll catch on. Aaron's been smacking me in the face (and Scott too sometimes) and luckily it's just us. He hurt me so much yesterday that I actually yelled my "NO!" instead of just saying it firmly. He looked so shocked and then he burst into tears! I felt so bad for making him cry but he didn't do it again for a while. Not that I'm saying to yell at them, but discipline, at some form, does work! Unfortunately, at this age, they don't remember it for too long so repetition is the key. Another thing I started doing it saying firmly "no hitting, make nice" and take his hand and show him how to nicely touch someone. I don't think, at this age, they are doing it to hurt. Like you said, they are doing it for your reaction and don't know that it hurts.
So tomorrow is the last day of Passover and I'm so sick of matzah stuff! UGH!! I want pop corn! I want Cheez-its!!!! The last few days are always the hardest for me. I have to say,though, the kids are doing great with it! Even Aaron has turned into a matzah monster!!
Aaron's ENT appt is a week from today and I can't wait! I'm very anxious to go and get it over w/. I'll be SHOCKED if he doesn't say tubes are needed.
I'm going back to my ortho this afternoon (the only appt they had was in the middle of nap time so that's gonna stink going w/ 3 tired kids... Jackie & Seth are still on Passover vacation from school). I had to stop PT since it made the pain worse and I can barely move now. :(
Happy 14 months to Aaron's birth buddies!!! How is it possible? 14 months old already? Weren't we all just announcing our PGs and joining the Feb '08 brith group? I think I'm still in denial that he's a toddler!
~~~
Sparkle, adorable pics! I love the bunny ears!
Jay, I agree that B&W pic is fabulous!! Well they both are! LOL
Megan, how are you feeling?
Tammie, I take it you're Catholic and DH isn't? Crazy about the storm!! I think the kids are still on their "high" since they keep talking about the entire night! We don't get into The City that much anymore, but Scott & I used to go every other month to see shows BK (Before Kids). We'll probably go in soon to let them walk around and stuff. My oldest friend lives there so we go in a few times a year.

Tammie Glad you had a nice Easter! Not sure about the hitting thing, but when Wyatt was biting I would firmly tell him NO and sit him down - it usually caused him to cry. I'd wait a minute then pick him up & hug him, tell him, I loved him while giving dozens of kisses and tell him again that we can not bite. It worked well and he stopped biting...well until yesterday it seems. :rolleyes: But I really think that Wyatt is really wanting to give kisses and just gets carried away, since he always seems to do it when he's hugging me. Wyatt will pull the defiant stuff, throwing his food on the floor or doing things that he's not supposed to & he watches me the whole time to see my reaction-so like you, I just try not to react. I can't wait to see your pics from Easter!
Lisa Happy 14 months to Aaron too! I took Wyatt into my office this morning and realized on my way that today was the 14 month mark...it's unbelievable!
Sashi I was wondering about you the other day too. How is everything going?
Me: Everything's great!! I had my NT scan this morning and baby is doing great-measuring at 12w2d (I'm11w6d) and heart rate was 167...so whoo-hoo! I'm actually excited! I've been really tired and nauseus lately, but it's all reassuring to me. After my appointment today I did a little shopping and met one of my friends for lunch. I'm hoping to squeeze in a nap, go grocery shopping and pick up Wyatt early, but seeing that it's already 2, the nap might get forfitted. Hope everyone is doing well!!

Megan, yippee for a great scan!!! Do we get to see a pic of your little blob? I'm thinking girl for you, BTW.
I forgot to say that today is my last day of nursing 3 times a day. Tomorrow we go down to twice a day for a month, then once a day. The day he turns 16 months will be our last day nursing. :( Physically I'm so ready: I'll get my boobs back, I'll be able to start losing weight, I'll be able to take whatever meds the doc wants to give me for my knee, etc. I've also been PG or nursing almost non stop since May 2003 so by the time we are fully weaned I would have given of my body for my kids for 6 years!! As far as my emotions go, I'm a wreck! I'm not ready to let go of this last part of him being a baby, especially since there will be no more babies. I'll miss the closeness and bonding (and I know we'll get it other ways), I'll miss the way he plays with my hand and looks at me when he nurses.

Lisa Yep, when I get it scanned in, I'll post it, but don't think I'll get it done tonight. I picked up Wyatt early & we had a snack before we went outside to play and he was in the swing for a while. Well, of course, when we came back in, he threw up-thankfully in the kitchen, so I had to mop the floor. To keep him out of my way, I put some Cheerios in one of the snack traps I just got today and showed him how to get them out & let him watch Sesame St. Of course, he shook the thing so that they would come out and had them all over the floor :rolleyes:. My very good dog would not eat them, because I have repeatedly told her no to the baby's snacks-so, good dog, but she wouldn't clean up for me, so I vaccumed. We went to the diner for dinner and I'm beat! Plus I only have about 30 mins til Lost, so I'll scan it tomorrow.
Tammie Happy Birthday! I hope you had a great day!

Too funny!! Aaron's been using a snack trap for a while now and he stopped throwing them all out on purpose, but he does grab too many so he always drops a few w/ each handful. No dog here so he either takes them off the rug (I let him if I recently vacuumed since we don't wear shoes in the house) or I end up vacuuming a lot! LOL

(I let him if I recently vacuumed since we don't wear shoes in the house
I'll admit that I'll let Wyatt pick them up & eat them regardless of if I've vaccumed recently ... as long as he's not picking them out of a pile of ick. Heck-I've even let him eat dog food - I figure that there's really only one way to cure that obessession! :p LOL! He likes to take a sppon & spoon the dog food into the water dish, then back to the food dish. Every time I take the dish from him, he grabs a piece of food and puts it in his mouth...I only let him have it once & took it out the next time (he made a mess with it!).
Cross posted from the Oct/Nov Mommies thread:
Here's one of the pictures from my ultrasound yesterday - there's another one with baby facing out, but I didn't have time to scan this morning before I came to work...I'll get it on later-it looks like a little ghost saying "boo!"

BTW we think Aaron has seasonal allergies now. Yesterday was day 3 of being outside practically all day (not including naps) and his back is COVERED in eczema. Neither of us has eaten anything new or w/ peanuts or garlic in it (that we can think of). So I e-mailed the allergist who said we can give him 1/2 tsp of Zyrtec once a day as needed and use tons of Aquaphor and then she'll test him at the end of the summer.
Oh, Sethy is night time potty trained now (2 nights in a row w/ undies and now accidents after a week of a dry pull up) and Jackie can brush her hair now!! WOOO HOOO!!! You've all seen pics of her long, thick, curly (gorgeous) hair! It's not easy to brush but she can do it now and get all the tangles out herself!!

HI ladies -
YOu are all so sweet for thinking of me. Things are good. Not much better as far as free time goes but i'm trying to make up for as much of it with ME time as possible right now.
Napping situation is still a problem. Today we installed a curtain rod and new curtains for his room. We have blinds but they are white wood blinds and they don't block a lot of sun so this way his room looks 'dark' when it's day out. We'll see next weekend. It took us yesterday to decide which one to buy and today to put them up. We found out that he HAS to be in the darkest corner of the room at daycare or he doesn't sleep there either. All i can think is, GREAT i have that child everyone gets annoyed with! They keep trying o assure me that he isn't as needy as it seems and there are much more needy kids in his class at daycare but who knows.
Tantrums - have improved a bit. He whines but that's about it now. He'll only cry and scream when he is overtired. I believe his illnesses week over week contributed to his angry screaming behavior. Definitely the Hand Foot & Mouth. Poor baby. He is sooooo different when he's feeling good. When he has a stomach virus he is very klingy and only wants to be held. The Hand Foot & Mouth he was just miserable and wanted to sit in a corner and scream all day every day. :( This has improved.
We're deciding though on how to start time-out or just general discipline for him. We went to our friends house for a playdate and he was very bad with the sharing and general kid stuff. He was overtired so his reactions were 200% more than they needed to be BUT he definitely shares at daycare and was not hsaring this weekend. My fear is that this is because he thinks he can get away with it with us as opposed to his teachers.
Sorry i'm not on much. Our laptop died and I use my work computer sparingly at home.
McGwigan - CONGRATS and what a sweet pic!
Love all the updated pics ladies. I hope to post some soon, I have 2 months of photos on my camera. I hate when computers die!!

Sashi I'll be curious to know how it goes with nap time for you next weekend! Wyatt sleeps in a very dark room at daycare, even though I asked her not to do that so he wouldn't be trained to need it dark. We had a wonderful nap weekend last weekend and a horrible one this past weekend, so I may try putting some curtains up for next weekend. It's going to make his room look really "ugh!" because I have nascar (black & white checked) curtains that we used to have in DSS's room. Since I'm going to be moving Wyatt into that room during the summer, I can't see spending $ on something that matches his room now & then have to change it when DSS is moved in there-oh well. I can totally relate to the nap situation though. Wyatt took an OK morning nap & no afternoon nap..until 5:00 when he slept for 30 minutes. It is just stressfull listening to them & hoping he'll go to sleep!
Glad that the tantrums are better! As far as sharing, I'm not sure if you can really "expect" it at this age....from what I've heard that doesn't come until a bit later? I think at daycare it's different since they are always with other children, it is maybe easier for them in that environment. I do know that my daycare provider has told me that Wyatt's very posessive of his bear if another child gets it, he makes sure to take it back...but that's his lovey...she doesn't like them sharing those since they are in mouths so much!
i hear you on the ME time too. Yesterday morning when I got Wyatt down for his nap, I told DH that I wanted to go to the outlet mall & would be back for lunch. I was only gone for 1 1/2 hours and only went to 3 stores, but it was nice to get out shopping a little alone.

SOs later, been a busy few days...
Aaron had his ENT appt this morning. He was such a good boy at the appt! The doc stuck this thing in each ear to clean out the wax. There was so much in there he couldn't see if there was fluid or not! Aaron sat still the entire time (and probably feels better w/ that goop out of his ears!). He failed his hearing test, it was so bad :-( and the doc thinks the fluids been there since his first infection in December. He gave me a choice of waiting to see if it clears up on its own or do tubes and I said tubes. Surgery is May 5. We'll find out the time a few days before.

Addison had her 15 month WBV last night, she's 29 lbs and 33" long. I have a big girl. She got 3 shots last night, cried but only for a minute or two. I gave her Tylenol before we left. Found out I should be giving her Children's Tylenol instead of Infant Tylenol because of her weight. I didn't know but in looking at their website I can still give her Infant Tylenol because it goes up to 35 lbs. I gave her some more this morning because one of the shots was the Tetanus shot and they are painful.
Forgot to mention, Addison now has a top tooth! We noticed it on Saturday.
She has also learned the word no, very well. Tells me no on everything. She is wearing the perfect shirt for her today, it says "Angel with Attitude"
Lisa ~ hope the surgery does the trick.

DelSol Wow! Addison is a big girl! Sounds like she's doing well though! When I had Wyatt in at the pedi for fever virus, they went ove the dosage of infant Tylenol with my and told me to give him the .8 on the dropper, plus another that is .6 (not marked on the dropper, so I just eyeball it). Up til the doc told me that, I couldn't figure out why it didn't seem to help much! I wasn't even thinking about the weight! he was only 22lbs at the time. I'm curious to see how much he weighs now - I do know he feels quite a bit heavier to me....especially when I'm carrying him up the stairs! Yay for the new tooth!
DelSol
04-23-2009, 08:59 AM
Megan ~ I was giving her 1.6 for Tylenol since that was what I was told to give her last, didn't know I had to increase it from there so soon. I thought the same thing about Addison's fever last week/two weeks ago, when her doctor told me she needs 5 mls(?) now of children's Tylenol.

Boy, we've really quieted down in here!!
We had gorgeous weather over the weekend and I took the boys to a humance society that was having a farm animal day. Wyatt loved looking at the horses and cows! They had balloon animals there - a whole farm of them on display - it was really cute-Wyatt so wanted to get in there to play! :)
Sunday I took Wyatt with me to my Grandma's for a family get together and DH had to stay behind to take DSS to his baseball photos. I finished telling the rest of the family that I'm pregnant, so that was fun! I didn't take a bottle for Wyatt - he's still been having them before naps & bedtime plus 1 in the morning, so we're stuck at 4 a day for now. Anyway, he would not take a nap there and was pretty pissed when he was tired, wanted to go nite-nite and I gave him a sippy. Poor baby. He ended up napping in the car on the way home.
I have barely any summer clothes for him and my daycare provider gave me a bag of shorts and shirts plus a pair of sandals yesterday...whoo-hoo! Seriously though, I really need to go do some shopping for the little guy! I'm trying to hold off though, because he's been wearing 12 months sizes for about 6 months now and he can actually still wear some of the 6-9 month stuff. I know he's growing though, because he is heavy to me! We have his well visit on 5/18 so i'm curious to see how much he weighs now.
I'm officially in th esecond trimester and feeling much better than I was. I really need to get some stuff done during this trimester before I loose my energy again. We're switching the boys bedrooms so I should really start going through DSS's stuff so that I can weed some stuff out. It's hard because he doesn't go to his mom's anymore and he wants to keep everything!
ETA: Hope everyone is doing well!!
Sashi How did it go with the napping over the weekend?
Brady
04-28-2009, 09:07 AM
Megan-6-9 months still? Wow! ;) My little football player is in 24 months. I also lucked out in the bag of clothes thing as I would of had nothing for him (my older son wore 12-18 months when he was Drew's age!). A friend of mine gave me a bag of great clothes, sandals, etc.- so thank goodness, considering it is 90° out today! Glad you are feeling good also.
Lisa-Poor Aaron, hope the tubes do the trick for him.
As for us, not much really new to report. Drew is still my crazy little guy, running all over the place and just a generally happy kid, I feel very lucky and am enjoying every minute of it.
Here's a picture of him this weekend "helping" my DH and father build a sandbox in our yard and climbing the dirt pile, you can just imagine how dirty he was after that...

Just wanted to pop in and say Hi! I'm sorry I've been gone, life has been super crazy lately. We are all sick..again...Leo had another ear infection and DH and I have major colds. I am so sick of being sick!
Leo is doing well otherwise. He is picking up new words everyday. He's always pointing to objects and saying "This?" so we will tell him what it is. He is also loving books right now. He'll bring me a book and say "Book" then sit in my lap to read it, it's so sweet. The only problem is that he wants to read the same book 10 times in a row. His favorite books have little flaps to lift up or textures to touch.
Right now his favorite books are Peek-a-Who?, That's Not My Dragon, and Quiet Loud. We also have a box of little Sesame Street board books that he loves because they come in a box that he take them in and out of.
What books are you guys reading?
We are also transitioning to one nap. He does one nap at daycare since he is on a cot instead of a crib now. On weekends he does either one or two depending on the day.
Here is a pic of Leo from Easter:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3540/3483748012_2f6efefbb3.jpg
Brady Love the pic of Drew "helping". Leo loves all things with long handles too - brooms, shovels you name it.
Megan Woo Hoo - congrats on entering the second trimester. I'm so glad to hear that everything is going well with this pregnancy.
DelSol Wow, Addison is a big girl!
Lisa I hope the tubes help Aaron. I'm sorry to hear about the eczema - Leo has it really bad and the only thing that helps is lots of Aquaphor.
Sashi I hope the napping is going better. In our room there is one girl older than Leo who should have been moved to a cot before him since she is older - but she still needs to sleep in a crib because she has a harder time sleeping (she's in the back corner too). Everyone understand that that is what she needs and no one thinks of her being a "needy" kid. I"m sure it's the same with Ollie. You are doing a great job with him!

Brady I meant to say earlier...cute pics!!
LaMer Glad Leo's doing great...he's a book worm! Wyatt will let me get through a whole book once in a while. He'll bring me one and we'll read and most of the time he wants to shut it and get back down to play. He does like the ones that have flaps and textures too! Very cute picture of Leo by the way! Sorry I've been MIA. It's been crazy around here. Aaron's surgery is on Tuesday and I'm getting closer to being told I need knee surgery again. I've been in a lot of pain and even the pain meds I'm on aren't fully helping. :( We've been spending a lot of time outside since the weather's been GORGEOUS the past few weeks.
Aaron is getting so big! He understands EVERYTHING! It's crazy!! He LOVES being outside and freaks out if we don't let him out or when we try to bring him in. He decided the Terrible Twos should start at 14.5 months and will have a tantrum if we say no to something or take something away from him. He covers his eyes w/ his hands and screams and cries while tears run down his face. He loves to help with everything especially cleaning up and giving everyone their shoes when we get ready to go out. Seth doesn't go to school on Wednesdays but when Aaron saw Jackie putting on her backpack this morning, Aaron grabbed Seth's and handed it to him! He also gave each of us our correct shoes!
Life is so busy and hectic that I started trying to type this out at 8 am and it's now 3:52 pm!!! :eek: Anyway....
~~~
Dana, wow she's big!!! Aaron was a hair under 24 lbs at his 12 month WBV and we were told to switch to the Children's about a month later (when he'd hit 24 lbs).
Megan, we didn't have a lot of spring/ summer stuff for Aaron either. Seth's 18 month stuff was mostly winter so whenever anyone asked what we wanted for Aaron's bday we asked for 18 month spring/ summer stuff. The 18 month shorts fit him fine but the pants are a bit too long.
Brady, size 24 months?! WOW!! :eek: OMG those pics are just too cute!!
la_Mer, poor Leo! How is he feeling? Great pic!!! I'm actually anxious now for Aaron to go to 1 nap since all 3 would be in theirrooms at the same time. Now It's Aaron's nap, then Jackie & Seth, then Aaron again. I have someone napping from about 10 am until 4"30 pm and never all at once!
Aaron's favorite book is What's Wrong Little Pookie (http://www.amazon.com/Whats-Little-Pookie-Sandra-Boynton/dp/0375845526) he got it as a Hanukkah gift and he makes us read it before and after every nap and bedtime! Even the kids have it memorized by now! LOL
Lisa Gee-you have been busy!! Cute about Aaron wanting to go outside all the time. Wyatt's the same-he just loves it and wants to go out no matter what the weather is.
DH gave Wyatt a few rides on his tractor so now when we go outside Wyatt either wants to swing or go on the tractor. Over the weekend, DH rode the tractor over to the garden to have DSS and my niece pick the rocks out of it (yeah-we believe in child labor-makes them strong LOL!) and Wyatt cried because DH left without him. He is getting better at walking across the yard and walked over the the garden so he could get a tractor ride-he cried every step of the way pointing at the tractor the whole way..poor baby! I think DH is going to have a hard time with him everytime he mows this year (it's forbidden to give him rides if the mower is on the tractor-I just can't allow it!).
I ended up going to BJ's and KMart last night - they had seperates on sale for $2, so I got Wyatt a bunch of 18 months shirts and shorts, so we should be set for summer now, I hope!
Ladies,
I am so pleased to see that everyone is doing so well! I left off with everyone around page 30 of the first thread and have been trying to catch up ever since. :o I've read that everyone has had their share of ups and downs during the past year or so. I commend every one of you for coming on here and being such a wonderful community of laughs, answers, advice and support.
Things have been much better for me since my surgery 11 months ago and I've just been left to try and juggle the demands of being a Mom, a wife, a full-time worker, a freelancer and a homemaker...just like all of you. I honestly don't know how everyone does it, especially those with more than one little one. But my little Tally is my heart and I live for her hugs and smiles.
A recap:
She's a big goof who's just starting to like tantrums. She's a fantastic eater and we call her our little vacuum. She's cursed with big feet like her parents (almost size 6 already!) She didn't get her first tooth till right after Christmas and started to walk the week before she turned 1. She likes to "woof" and snuggle with really soft toys. She strokes her lovey before falling asleep at night and just learned how to sip from a juice box. When she "cries" now, she'll look like Popeye with one eye closed, and one open to gauge our reactions. She likes to "dance" by waving her hands in the air. She'll stand beside you with her mouth open, saying "ahhh" waiting for you to share food if you're eating. It's a struggle to get her to drink her milk, but she'll down a string cheese in 30 seconds flat. She screams like a velociraptor just because she can. She used to hum herself to sleep and is a mouth-breather. And her smile can light up a room.... :p
I'll update stats when I have my little book in front of me. Maybe on Tuesday as that's her 15-month appt. *gulp* She's getting so big. In the meantime, I'll try to get back into the swing of posting. Attached are some pix from the beginning of May. She actually had a fever over 105 that day and we didn't realize it till that evening! She never complains when she's not well. We rushed her to the ER, allowed her to get poked and prodded and xrayed only to find out that it was a result of an ear infection that hadn't cleared up from 3 weeks prior (which was her first ever)... we had a very sick household for about a month and a half. It was no good. But anyway, we had a good time that day, running around with kites and taking pictures.
Hope everyone is well (Megan...congrats!) and I look forward to rejoining the fold. :) Happy spring!
Sashi How are things with you??
Wyatt is still drinking 4 (!!) bottles a day and I am having a hard time with getting him off any of them!! Ugh! Yesterday the daycare provider thought he was so cute when it was time for his show (Super Why) before nap he pointed at the TV & the remote and then after she changed the channel he went in the kitchen and pointed at the fridge for his bottle (he has them before naps) :eek:. Yikes - I told her this morning that I am going to have a bery hard time getting him off of them now. This weekend I'll start with the 1 before morning nap and try to eliminate that one first. We'll see how it goes. He still spits out most of what he drinks from his sippy too it seems - ugh!
Megan, I don't even want to think about how busy this upcoming week is going to be for me!! Monday the kids have a field trip at school and drop off and pick up times are smack in the middle of both of Aaron's nap times so I have no clue what I'm going to do. Tues is Aaron's surgery, Wed morning I have parent teacher conferences for both kids and my CT Scan in the evening. Thursday will be a CRAZY BUSY day with Jackie's first kindergarten orientation! But at least Scott & I are going to the movies and out for dinner (at the Melting Pot) Saturday night and then spending the night in a hotel while my parents watch the kids and we'll be back home on Sunday in time to have the family over for Mother's Day.
Raven, great to see you!!! I'm glad you are doing well. Tally is so adorable!! Isn't it amazing how big they are getting?
Hi Sashi!
Sashi: Thanks! It's good to be back.
mcgwigan: Definitely doing better, thanks. As for bottles... Tally's daycare provider had been giving her a sippy cup even before we did on a regular basis, so luckily she was at least used to those. We had been giving her a morning and bedtime bottle up until March, but she decided to slow down her consumption in the morning to less than 2 oz, which I'd follow up with solid food, then at night it was a mixed bag of sometimes 4 and sometimes 8 oz. (Kinda like how she weaned herself from the breast at 5 months...she just stopped drinking.) In March, she caught a stomach bug on top of her cold and ear infection and the thought of force-feeding her medicine down her throat when she was puking it back up was terrible so we did what we shouldn't have and tried dosing her bottle. Really, the only thing it did was make her refuse it. Even after the medicine was done, she wouldn't take the bottle anymore.
So that being said, is there anything you can add to the bottle, that he may not like? Say, maybe, watering down his milk, formula or juice? Only give him the real stuff in his sippy cup? The only thing I can think of is that Wyatt won't let himself become too thirsty. He'll drink from the sippy if that's the only place he's getting what he likes...in theory. Good luck!
Eliezrah: Yay for the Melting Pot! LOVE that place! We got our neighbor a gift certificate for there when she gave me her breast pump. Heh.. her thought was to have us all go out to use it. Works for me!
Raven ~ great to hear from you! Talia is a cutie!
Megan ~ Addison still has 4 bottles a day. I'm going to start to give her one of her "bottles" in a sippy but I'm going to start with the lunch one. I guess I need to figure out when to wean her down to 3 bottles. I should probably cut out the noon bottle. Normally has a bottle at noon and it's off to nap for her so cutting that one out probably won't be the best idea so now I'm thinking the 4PM one. Her schedule now is , she gets her breakfast bottle around 8AM, then breakfast at 10AM with some juice, then 12PM bottle, late lunch at 3PMish with some juice, bottle at 4PM, sometimes a snack/dinner at 6PM and then her bedtime bottle, around 7:30PMish. And that's probably why she weighs so much. LOL
Lisa ~ sounds like you are one busy lady! Have fun at the Melting Pot, never been there but heard it's good.
Brady ~ I decided to skip over 24 months clothes and went right to 2T, since when I looked at the weight range and knew she was close to 30 lbs, those clothes probably wouldn't last through summer. I have a lot of 24 months, I'll be selling (bought last year, can't return) but I'm going to try them on her, some I did and couldn't get past her butt and she was fussy so I need to try them on her again.
La_Mer ~ Leo is such a cutie! Love his outfit.
Books ~ Oh I'm so bad, I read very little to her but she loves to "read" them herself. I need to really start being better at this. I do try at times but she doesn't sit very long to listen. She has book that is her favorite to look at, it's called Five Wishing Stars.
DH took Addison to parents, she was there since Wednesday, just came home today. I can't wait to see her. DH has been watching her since they go home about 2PMish, guess that are making out pretty good, haven't gotten any phone calls. :p
Health-wise we are both feeling better, I still have a lingering cough.
Addison learned the word no and it's so funny the way she says it and then points her fingers. I have to try and keep a serious look on my face because she's all serious and mad and goes NO and points two fingers instead of one. She loves to play ball and a game we call "Where's Addison?" basically she sits and thinks she's hiding at the end of the sofa, we pretend we don't know where she is and we go where's Addison? I don't see her, where is she? She comes running/crawling out laughing. And then we go Oh there she is!!! She gets all excited and does it all over again.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
DelSol GOod to know we aren't the only ones with that many bottles still! Wyatt loves that hiding game too...he'll "hide" behind a leg on the dining room table and I'll be on the other side and he'll block his view with the table...it's hysterical! He also loves when I toss a blankie over him and start with the "where's wyatt??"!
So this morning, since DH was gone hunting, I was the one to get up with Wyatt and I filled up a sippy cup with milk then took him into my bedroom, changed his diaper and turned on Barney so I could at least lie in bed (he woke up at 5:30!). He was fine with the sippy. He didn't drink as much of it as he would a bottle, but that's fine-he gets probably 30oz of milk a day, which is really too much. He also drank about 5oz out of a sippy of milk at dinner last night, so I think that we'll just elimintate that morning bottle and then start with the nap ones. I had to give him one before nap today - it is opening day of baseball, so we had to go to the parade instead of Wyatt taking a nap. When we got home, he guzzled his bottle and was aslepe within 6 minutes (of starting the bottle!). Hopefully he sleeps a long time, because I don't think we'll be able to get one in for him this afternoon since we have our bball game. Remi's on the RedSox this year.
Raven, yeah I'm looking forward to dinner on Saturday. I usually go there w/ my mommy friends for Mom's Night Out but it's nice to go w/ Scott once in a while as well! LOL
Dana, yeah I'm always busy!
Lisa The morning sippy is going well!! I haven't taken away a nap time bottle yet since our weekend was so hectic -he only got one nap in on Saturday and then yesterday, I just wanted him to be able to get rested up from Saturday. I may try not giving him a bottle before his morning nap next Saturday-we have a baseball game, but he should go down for nap before that so the schedule shouldn't be as messed up as it was last weekend.
Yay for dinner out-we're going out to dinner on Saturday night too, I just have to decide where I want to go...AND we're also going out to brunch on Sunday I think. At this point, the less cooking i have to do, the better!
Megan ~ glad the morning sippy is going well. I tried to give one of her bottles in a sippy and she threw it at me, twice!!! :rolleyes: Then I figured she just a had a nice meal, she won't need the 4PM bottle since she ate at 3:30PM but by 5:30PM, she was in such a bad mood, I finally caved and gave in. I think I'll try to offer her more food next time I try to do this, it won't happen this weekend since we'll be out of town. I really need to write down an eating/bottle schedule and see when I can drop that one bottle.
DelSol There was one night last week that Wyatt was in such a miserable mood that I gave him a small bottle after dinner. You win some and you loose some....but I'm really trying not to give him any outside of the nap & bedtime ones.
Wow ladies. This thread is really dying out. Or we are all just incredibly busy lately. I can say the issue is #2. I used to come here multiple times a day and now we are lucky if I make it to CC 2x a week. I'm going to try to get better about it as my work load has gotten somewhat better.
Things are going well, I'll give an update on Ollie:
- His 15 month WBV is next week so we'll have updates on weight, etc. but he's definitely taller as he now bumps his head on the refrigerator
- He is saying a few words: More, Thank You, Banana, Dada, Up
- He LOVES dancing and clapping to songs anyone sings or music on the radio. Currently, BINGO is his favorite and gets him going crazy hyper!
- LOVES water and would love to be put in a pool for hours on end no matter how cold. Our friends house has a pool and it was 90 degrees here so we went outside in their backyard where Oliver tried to throw himself into the 50 degree pool! He was content to sit with his feet in and occassionally dip his legs in (with supervision). Poor tootsies were freezing but he thoroughtly enjoyed it.
- We just got over hand Foot and Mouth and now have major diaper rash. I believe his eye teeth are coming in or the teeth near them and that is what's causing the rash. It's definitely not like the burn rash he gets from tomato sauce and we know he hasn't had tomato sauce in a while.
- He is still throwing tantrums but not as bad as a month ago. I think i know where they come from though. HIS FATHER! My DH will not let him wimper for a minute! It annoys me. He also is real insisitent on giving him milk so if he doesn't take it in his sippy then he gives him a bottle and this also pisses me off. I want to throw all the bottles away and he wants to keep them around just in case. He always takes a sippy and it's a rare occassion when he doesn't. UGH!
- He's got tons of curly hair and i wish i could post a picture. SOON I promise. Still no laptop at home and the pictures were loaded onto shutterfly which now don't allow you to copy from them. OY!
- He's becoming a very picky eater and i'm not too thrilled about that. Loves to shake his head no and is very clear as to what he wants and doesn't want. If you put it near him he will NOT eat it.
Other than that, just waiting for the weather to get nice. I hate the rain. DESPISE it. And I'm waiting for nice weather. We bought a little $10 pool from Toys R Us 2 weekends ago and I want to use it. our development has an awesome pool and playground thing and we'll be visiting there often.
I'm obsessed currently with The Twilight series. Reading New Moon on audiobook while I work and LOVING IT. I got through almost 4 discs today. Had to stop because i found myself loosing interest towards the end of the day. We are getting gym equipment at home too so we can finally start working out again in the convenience of our home. DH can't do anything without doing it big so we are putting a door/drywall in where the office used to be in our basement. I just want one eliptical in the center of the room and he is building a room and getting a home gym, treadmill and eliptical. I'm sure i'll use it and be thankful but geez, it's taking forever!
Sashi Wow, sound like you have a lot going on! Yay for the home gym...how nice! I have an eliptical and don't use it nearly as much as I should...I really need to get going back on it! Wyatt had diarhea and a rash when his eye teeth were coming in...it lasted for a bit over a week and then calmed down. Wyatt's also kind of a picky eater - he not only shakes his head no when he doesn't want something but covers up his whole face!! It's too funny! Can't wait to see a new picture of Ollie when you're able to post them!
My daycare provider didn't give Wyatt a bottle before his nap this morning and he did great! Just drank some out of a sippy and took his nap!! I'm pretty excited about it and glad that she tried it!
Yes- I think that everyone is pretty busy!!
Aaron's home and doing great! He was very cranky in recovery, understandably, and nursed twice in there! He passed out in the car and woke up when we got home. He's happily sitting on the floor now, eating and watching Mickey Mouse. I know he'll be out of it for the rest of the day.
Lisa Sounds like he's doing great!! I had to hold Wyatt all day when he cam out of anesthesia! Aaron will probably just take a longer nap or 2!
Wyatt's crib has been recalled-I just got an email last night...it's one of the Jardine ones. Anyway, it's a huge pain - Jardine will fedex me an envelope, I have to FedEx the hardware for the crib back and then they will FedEx a voucher back to me that I can then take to BRU for a new crib. I called the store and the only work around they are allowing is to go buy a new crib and then credit my account when I get the voucher. Their website said that it was possible to just take them the crib and get a new one, skipping the whole voucher process. I'm not very happy about it and then the assistant manager at the store was like, well, you've used it for 14 months and there's been no issues....:eek: Yeah-I know, but does that mean that we should wait for it to be an issue?? To make matters worse, I dont' even really see any online that I really like :(. I'll have to make a trip there soon though to see what I can find..poor Wyatt's going to be sleeping in his pack n play til I get it figured out!
Lisa ~ Glad to hear Aaron is doing well.
Megan ~ That would totally sucks about the crib! - So I just checked and it looks like our crib was recalled also. Not that Ethan has ever slept in it ;) I need to double check the dates at home tonight.
So Ethan is getting over Roseola (http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/skin/roseola.html)! I thought that he was just teething or had an ear infection that was causing the fever but he got the rash today so that confirmed it. He did pretty well so at least now it is out of the way!
Lisa, also glad to hear that Aaron is doing ok!
mcgwigan, I think our neighbor has one of those Jardine cribs and didn't see anything they liked either. So far, they're holding out and not dealing with the recall yet. Not sure if they will or not. That is kind of odd that the manager would say something like that though.
sparkle, yikes! I've heard about Roseola but hadn't known any child that's had it. Hope the little one is doing ok now and that the rash isn't bothering him too much.
Talia's stats for the front:
Birth: 8lbs 10 oz, 21"
2 months: 13 lbs 2.5 oz, 24.75"
4 months: 15 lbs 2 oz, 26"
6 months: 17 lbs 12.5 oz, 27.5"
9 months: 20 lbs 1 oz, 29"
12 months: 22 lbs 6 oz, 32"
15 months: 24 lbs 0 oz, 32.5"
She's still on track growth-wise and thankfully her ear infection is all cleared up! Finally!
Raven I talked to DH about it last night and we aren't going to worry about it just yet....I would like to get it taken care of before the new baby comes though, so I'm hoping that I can try to transition Wyatt out of it in a couple months and then I could do the recall stuff for a new crib for the new baby. We'll see how Wyatt does with the transition to a bed first though!
Just stopping in to say hello and share some updates. I am way, way behind on this thread so I need to go back and read through all your posts. The state of Declan:
Declan is 14.5 months now. And he's stilllll not walking. He takes steps here and there-- he's perfectly capable of walking-- he just prefers to crawl. He loves to walk if I'm holding his hand, but not on his own.
He has 5 teeth now and is about to get a couple more. As a result he's been fussy and a nightmare to get to sleep at the end of the day.
Favorite activities include dancing (he's always bopping around to any music he hears), playing in water, pulling all his books off the shelf, flipping through them and then discarding them, throwing balls, driving his push toys all over the house.
We didn't have any trouble ditching his bottle at 12 months, so he's all about the sippy now. He eats just about everything, except eggs, which he hates. Of course, throwing food on the floor is much more fun than eating it.
He takes one long nap, usually starting around 11am and lasting 2-3 hours.
Hi everyone! I'm so exhausted from this week (which still isn't over yet) and I feel so behind on everything. Jackie had her first (of 3) kindergarten orientations yesterday which went really well. Aaron's doing better but has been waking up CRYING at 4:30 every morning since the surgery and finally going back to sleep around 5:30 but then I'm up for the day by then (especially since Jackie's been coming into my room then). I don't think Aaron can be in pain from his ear tubes anymore so I'm not sure WTF is waking him so early!!
Rosebud, adorable pics!!
Eliezrah - I'm so sorry about Aaron waking! Ollie has been too. Every morning at 5:30. Honestly, I think it's the birds chirping outside that's waking him. We have a huge tree that sits outside of his room so I assume the birds are waking him. He's so cranky and tired all morning because of it. We bought curtains to make his room even darker and that hasn't helped (although they look nice!) YAY! For Jackie's orientation. Such a big girl!!!
Rosebud - Adorable pictures of Declan. That class with the swings looks interesting, what is the idea of the class? Are you still nursing, I can't remember if you've previously said.
This week has been a long week, everyone has been saying so. I think it's the weather over on the east coast. Ran for 9 consecutive days or something like that! It's sunny right now and humid but who knows!!!! I hope it's warm enough on the weekend to enjoy some outdoor fun, hopefully go in the little pool i bought for the neighborhood kids!
Work is boring for me right now. I have stuff to do but i'm just feeling like I need a break from it. BLAH! My vacation isn't until August 29th!!!!!!!! We are going to OC, Maryland for a week, renting a house with friends of ours who have twin girls. Looking forward to it but I really miss being able to sleep in on vacations and weekends. I feel like 1-2 extra hours of sleep a day would be soooo helpful!
Any plans for Mothers Day? My DH informed me last night that he'd like me to tell people (if they ask) that I got a huge gift for Mother's Day. A home gym. We are buying an eliptical, treadmill, bench and free weights. Yes, this is a great gift. yes, one that I will use and he will use. Yes, I told him I didn't want anything for Mother's Day. He feels guilty and thinks I should tell people when asked that this was partially my Mother's Day gift. We'll probably go out to a dinner, nothing special.
Rosebud Cute pics of Declan!! Yay for no bottles too!!
Sashi Sorry about Ollie waking early...Wyatt has been too, 5:30. I told DH that for Mother's Day I want to sleep in at least one day this weekend...so really, that's what you need to tell your DH! He sounds like he's over the top with wanting to make sure he does something special for you-sweet!! DH told me that we could do whatever I wanted, but we're just going out to dinner (my sis is babysitting for us) on Saturday night and then brunch hopefully on Sunday. Other than that-no plans!
Lisa Have you called the doc to mention that he's been waking so early crying? So strange...you wouldn't think it's his ears, but you never know!
I chased Wyatt all over the park and field last night at DSS's baseball game. Finally I had had enough and Wyatt was getting cranky, so decided it was time to go-we'd been there for 1 1/2 hours...I had no clue-I didn't think it was that long! After I put him to bed, I realized that I had quite a bit of pain in my abdomen - OB thinks just from not having as much support as my first pregnancy-the nurse said you get pregnant the second time and it's like your body just kind of deflates. Anyhoo...I am just taking it easy today and for the weekend-I feel fine as long as I'm not up and around. The OB had a hard time find the baby's hearbeat at my appointment this morning, but finally did-s/he was hiding. Anyway, it seems fine and HB was 162, so things are still looking good. I'm 15w now and they scheduled my ultrasound for 5/28 - whoo-hoo!
Rosebud - Adorable pictures of Declan. That class with the swings looks interesting, what is the idea of the class? Are you still nursing, I can't remember if you've previously said.
We take him to MyGym, which is awesome. It's an hour-long class with dancing, instructor-led games and exercises and lots of free play time in the gym. Declan loves it.
I stopped breastfeeding at 11 months. Supply was just gone. His weight has steadily climbed back up the charts ever since, which is a huge relief.
So, Declan started walking on Thursday! Very exciting. :)
No big plans for tomorrow -just relaxing. DH took me out to dinner tonight and my sister came and babysat for us. Wyatt was a little out of sorts - he was tired since we had a bball game today, so he didn't get his morning nap, but he was quite happy when we got home. I do have to say, that even though I'd love to be able to stay home with him full time, the greatings that I get when I pick him up from daycare and when we got back tonight are priceless!!
So I went to my orthopedist today for my follow up after my CT Scan. He said the knee cap is a bit off but that's fairly common for females and doesn't seem to be where my pain is. He feels the pain is more where the cartilage graft was done about 3 years ago. He thinks it's possible that some cartilage sort of grew over the spot and needs to be smoothed out. He'll go in arthoscopically and shave it down and see if he sees anything else going on. Hopefully that'll be it and I'll be fine.
The surgery is set for 2 weeks from tomorrow on Wednesday, May 27th sometime in the morning (I get the exact time the day before). Scott will take off Wed, Thurs & Fri to help me out (and bring Aaron to his surgery follow up on Thursday) and the doc said I should only be on crutches for a few days.
Hopefully this will be the last surgery ever! This will be my 3rd one on the right knee in about 3 years!
Just thought I'd come in and post that Ollie is going to be a big brother!!!! I got a BFP last Thursday and am not surprised as we weren't being safe. Some of you already know because we follow each other on LJ but for right now CC & LJ is everyone that knows. I'm not announcing it IRL life, especially on FB because I have work friends on there.
It's still early, nearing the end of my 5th week but everything is happening within the same time-frame (except a month earlier) as did Oliver. I was due on a Monday and by Thursday I was feeling crampy, bb's were sore and no AF so I tested and was shocked but not shocked if that makes sense. I tested again 2 days later just to make sure and sure enough.....BFP again.
I know it's early and I'm sort of going against superstition here but am thrilled so I wanted to share.
That's all from me for now. :)
CONGRATULATIONS SASHI. That is wonderful news! I'm so so excited for you.
Sorry I haven't been able to keep up. I'm trying to be better about my internet time at work - and by the time I get Leo in bed at night I am too tired to post.
We had Leo's 15 mo WBV today. Here are his stats:
Weight: 25 lbs 6 oz (but I swear he feels heavier!)
Height: 30.75"
He had 4 shots - boosters for dTaP and Polio and Chicken Pox. All in all he's doing very well, except he's still anemic despite all my efforts to pump the kid full of iron. We are now onto straight iron drops, sigh he's going to HATE that.
He's running and climbing all over. He has lots of words, but they seem to go in and out of rotation. His current fav is "bird" and also "balloon". He signs for "more" if I ask him if he wants more of something, but he also uses it to ask for food.
Quick SOs
Megan I can't imagine trying to run after a toddler while PG. While I'm sure it's good to stay active make sure you get your rest too!
Lisa Sorry to hear you have to have surgery again, ugh. I hope it goes well and this is the last of the knee issues.
Rosebud Declan is so so cute. I love his curly locks.
Hi LaMer! Poor Leo with all the shots. They didn't have any of his 15 month shots in stock at the local Pharma company this week so no shots for Ollie. What a mess. Yay for all the words! Ollie also signs MORE for food and more of anything. Sometimes it's a myriad of things he wants and can't get enough of. Thanks for the congrats!
La_Mer Yep, it is tiring chasing a toddler while pregnant. I picked up some iron supplements for me last week and it helps immensly. When I was pg with Wyatt, I had to take iron 2X's /day since mine was so low. Really the only times it gets to me is when I'm chasing him around at DSS's baseball games. We generally don't last through the whole games when they're in the evenings since Wyatt gets so tired & cranky...he ends up running circles crying because he's tired. I'm just trying to not think about football...practice starts in August and is every night until dark. Games are usually just on weekends though.
Lisa Sucks about your surgery....hopefully it'll be your last time! How long will the recovery be?
Hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day. We spent the day running between his parents house for breakfast and then dinner with my family but it was a good day overall. Tally looked cute in one of her Old Navy dresses I bought on sale for like, $4, at the end of last season. Don't think I got any pix though.
Rosebud, look at those curls! So cute! And yay for walking! It just gets that much more exciting around the house. LOL.
mcgwigan, glad you were able to hear a heartbeat and that you're almost at your "big" ultrasound!
Lisa, good luck on your surgery. My brother also is having an outpatient surgery that day so I'll keep you both in my thoughts.
Sashi!!!! Congratulations! Keeping my fingers crossed for you. I think we're all lucky to have had winter babies. That way, the most uncomfortable part is when it's cold out. :) So January is another good month. But what a busy month! I just got to your post with all of the birthdays and anniversaries... :) DH doesn't want to have a baby in October for just that very reason (even though I desperately want a little punkin).
Also meant to share... Saturday evening, before Mother's day, I had a mini-breakdown. Things were busy, trying to prepare for both family gatherings, plus cleaning our house and preparing a couple of dishes. DH was out running errands. Tally had been throwing food and just being a general pain so I got her down from her high-chair and was cleaning up crumbs from the floor when I banged my forehead on the corner of our kitchen table. I hit it pretty hard and something just snapped and I started bawling, squatting on the floor of the kitchen. Tally was standing a few feet from me then came over and just draped herself over my arm and leg, just standing there, hugging me, not saying a word. It made me cry harder. :o When I started to calm down, I picked her up and she just draped herself over my shoulder and continued to hug me.
I just couldn't believe how empathetic she is at just 15 months. She's just such a wonderful little girl and I couldn't ask for any more than that. That made my Mother's day right then and there.
I'll be bask ASAP for SOs. Life has been hectic, to say the least, lately. Aaoon didn't recover as well as we thought from his surgery and now I'm dealing with my knee pain where I can barely move. Lisa - So sorry about all the hecticness. I can totally relate although I can't imagine having 3 kids and severe knee pain to boot. Poor Aaron, what is the issue? I'm not talking to my mom or MIL so i totally get it without even knowing the details. My prayers are with you.
Raven - LOVE the story about Tally hugging you. This is definitely the age where they are very loving (and sometimes pulling hair or squeezing my nose until it hurts). I've been where you were with the losing my mind. I feel like I was there for an entire year after birth but I've finally started being normal again. And the throwing food....TOTALLY PAIN THE HEINIE!
Mcgwigan - how are you feeling? What does the iron supplement do for you? Would it help with energy for someone who doesn't have a low iron count to begin with?
I'm feeling ok, bloated and crampy. I remember the cramping but I don't remember the bloating. I know you tend to show quickly after your first pregnancy but i'm so not looking forward to that conversation at work. And I hate keeping it a secret because i'm so excited about it, especially from my co-worker. No sickness yet and I'm finally getting over a head cold which has made me have a very small appetite lately.
Our gym equipment isn't coming in until May 28th, I'm pissed about it. We ordered it on Saturday and they never mentioned to us over the last 3 weeks that we were deciding what to buy that the wait time for installation was 3+ weeks. Otherwise I would have made a decision more quickly and it would have been ready to go as soon as the door was installed. UGH! DH is calling their today to try and raise some h&ll.
Sashi The iron helps improve energy level....but I don't know if anything helps the exhaustion in the first trimester!! LOL! I never had low iron, but it was checked during my pregnancy with Wyatt and I was told to start taking iron 2Xs /day since it was so low. I did get some energy back after the 1st trimester, but was still dragging quite a bit, so decided to start taking it-just once a day and it seems to help me.
Just wanted to drop by and say hi! :) Glad to see people are back in here. I've been very busy - out of town, in town with DH out of town, looking for houses, etc. so I haven't been online very much at all. I'm going to try and post on here tonight. Miss talking to you all!
We had Wyatt's 15 month wbv visit today.
He's 33" tall
weight is 23 lbs
head circ. is 45 (I think)cm.
Had prevnar and chicken pox vaccs. :(. He fell and hit his head on a chair while there, so the visit just went downhill from there. Then he cried when I left him at daycare.:(
I think that he's trying to drop down to one nap. The sitter was telling me that last week he had a hard time settling down for naps and over the weekend he did too. Yesterday I don't think he fell asleep for his morning nap & then took a nap from 3-6 so was up watching Survivor with us until 9:30 :p. He loved the music on the show-it was too cute!
tammy So are you relocating, or just looking to upgrade the house?
Hope everyone had a good weekend....I'm exhausted & am coming down with a cold thanks to our crazy weather!
Ugh! I always sit down here to read through everything I keep missing and then something happens or someone calls or one of the kids needs me and I don't get the time. ARGH!!! I'm hoping to have some time (if I feel up to it) the days following my surgery since I can't do much of anything else! LOL Aaron's doing great and was 26 lbs at his 15 month WBV this week!!! We took him to the farm today and he had a BLAST feeding the animals! My surgery is on Wed, 4 more days, and I can't wait so I can start recovering and hopefully feel better!
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend everyone!
mcgwigan, Wyatt is looking about on the same track as Tally. :) I hate leaving her at daycare after shots too. :( She's always snuffling. Good news though, I don't think they have to have any shots at 18 months, or it may just be one if anything.
Sashi, Ollie is adorable! You look great too. :)
Elie, no worries on missing out on catching up. We're all in the same spot. :)
Our weekend was nice and not overly productive. Though Friday I was let out early from work and came home, did two loads of laundry, ate lunch, cleaned my bathroom (ugh, was it nasty!) AND washed my car. I think that was enough for the whole weekend. ;) We had friends over for a cookout yesterday and today made it to the pool for a few, but the water was too chilly and the sun had been gone for a while. Poor Tally's teeth were chattering away. She also took a bit of a nose-dive into the water and was freaked out for a little while. Guess I got to get her back into the swimming class. We had taken a few back in the fall and she loved it but it's been a while.
I also think she's teething again. She's only got 6 so far (two bottom, four top) and I think a bottom one is coming up. Those are the ones that caused her the most pain and she's been ear-pulling, thumb-sucking (which she never does), and cheek-pushing all weekend. She's also been waking up during the night more, which she rarely does. So yeah, guess we're due for another.
Hope everyone was able to have some time off to relax and enjoy. And thanks to everyone who's in the military or knows someone who is. Your service is appreciated.
Lisa Good luck with your surgery tomorrow...hope it helps you and it's a fast recovery!
raven Sounds like you had a great weekend...I always feel so proud of myself whe I have a productive day like that!
I wasn't feeling so well yesterday- very nauseus and my lower back is very achy...it's just too reminisent of my miscarriage, so I'm waiting for the office to open to see if I can get in to make sure everything is OK. Meanwhile, I'm a bundle of nerves. It doesn't help that I can't feel the baby move consistently yet, but I usually am able to feel it every now and then. I'll be 18w on Thursday.
LOL I'll try to log on and post, if I can, to let you know how it went. If not, Megan & Tammie are on another board w/ me and I have the cell phone #s for some of the girls on that board. I might text one of them, have them post it on that board and then ask Megan and/or Tammie to update you guys.
Megan, {{HUGS}} let us know what the doc says. Is it possible you over did things this weekend?
05-26-2009, 08:14 AM
Yeah - I'm thinking (hoping) that's the case and I just over did it, or it may be a UTI. Wyatt has decided to try to drop his morning nap and I'm going with it, but it makes for a cranky baby sometimes!! Yesterday morning I took him shopping with me and he wanted to be held basically the whole time....he probably would have taken a morning nap if we'd stayed home!:rolleyes:
Eliezrah
05-26-2009, 08:22 AM
Oy!!! Aaron's slightly cranky right now so I feel your pain! He fell asleep nursing and woke up when I put him in his crib. He was up at 6 so he NEEDS to nap (and his girlfriend is coming over to play at 12:30) so I left him in there and he's getting cranky! OY!
Speaking of nursing Aaron, now that we're down to once a day, he's starting to ask for it! Not just ask, he'll lift my shirt and try to latch on! He doesn't like it if I say no (which I'll only do if he already nursed his one time that day) and it makes me feel bad, but it also makes me realize that I'm making the right choice for me to finish nursing on June 16 (the day after he turns 16 months).
mcgwigan
05-26-2009, 08:28 AM
Lisa Good for you for sticking to your guns with the nursing! I'm so glad that I weaned Wyatt around 8 months - he wasn't old enough to know that he could insist and get something. I think if I had waited til he was a year, it would have been much more difficult to wean him!
Wyatt wakes up around 5:30 every morning, so I was surprised that he was trying to skip the morning nap already! It doesn't help him to sleep in either!
It means the world to me to FINALLY be able to nurse for as long as I wanted to and not for as long as a medical condition of my child allowed me to! But, IMO, once they can lift your shirt and start "asking" for it, it's time to end! It's sad that I only have 3 weeks left (from today) to ever nurse and then the baby stage of my life is officially over. BUT... I can start losing the weight finally and get my body back to belonging to me after giving it to my kids for 6 years straight!
I just got back from the midwife's and all is well with baby (phew!) I don't even have a UTI (they thought maybe that was the case). She did think that I may have adhesions in my uterus from the C-section that's causing me pain, so hopefully it'll work itself out soon.
Oh - I have my ultrasound next Thursday, so will let you guys know if Wyatt will have a little brother or sister if we can find out!
Tripp has his 15 month WBV tomorrow. I'll try and get back in here with an update on that.
We started Infant Swim lessons today - the survival ones. He actually liked them. Sophie, not so much, but Tripp yes. In fact, he was laughing about being dunked and told to swim. The instructor said that he is only the 2nd kid who has ever laughed. Great! I'm telling you, he's a freaking dare devil.
Tripp bit a kid in class today. Just flipping great. Apparently he did it for no reason. I feel terrible for the other kid. Ugh. Not sure what to do about it.
We bought a new house!! I'll come back and tell you about that tomorrow. That's why I've been so busy and out of the loop lately.
That scared me Megan! I'm glad you and baby are good. Do you have a thought on whether you are having a boy or girl? About the move - we are moving by DH's family. Don't need to, just want to. Got a great deal so we couldn't pass up the opportunity.
Lisa - I'll post an update in here if you want me to tomorrow .... just let me know. Good luck tomorrow. Hopefully this will be the last surgery! And WOW with Aaron and the shirt lifting. My DH's cousin's daughter used to do that all the time. I told John I'd stop then and there if Tripp ever did it. She, on the other hand, nursed for more than 2 years ... and there was access like that all day. Whatever works I guess!
Raven - Good to see you back on here! I missed seeing you around. Talia is a pretty little girl and you are certainly blessed!
Lisa Good luck with the surgery!!
Tammy I'd love to move closer to family, but don't think we ever will....we aren't too far. 30 mins to my inlaws and about 1 hour to my parents...it really cuts into the day when we go though, so it would be nice to live a bit closer so we could pop by more often.
I've been thinking girl for this one, but it'll probably be a boy. The only reason I say that is that DH really wants a boy- claims he won't know what to do with a girl :rolleyes:. It'd be nice to have 1 of each, but then I also think it would be nice for Wyatt to have a little brother....we'll find out in a week from tomorrow. I'm a bit bummed because DH won't be going to the ultrasound with me though.
JHi Ladies -
We are going through some major sleep regression at our house. Screaming when he gets put in his crib at night, sometimes for over 30 minutes! Then waking at random times (last night was 12:30 and the night before was 2:30) w/o any ability to go back to sleep. Dh has been sleeping with him in the 2nd bedroom. Something I'm opposed to but there is no rational conversation at 12:30am when you just went to bed 2 hours ago. I just don't know what to do about it. Do we sleep train again or do we just let it cry and hope it passes? Anyone else deal w/ sleep regression?
mcgwigan
05-27-2009, 06:43 AM
Sashi Yes! We went through this!! I used to take Wyatt into his room and hold him in the rocking chair while he drank his bottle and then I'd rock him for a couple more minutes and he'd go happily into his crib, with never a peep. I don't know what happened, but that came to a screeching halt with all kinds of tears and screaming. I found that If I let him watch a show on TV while he drinks his bottle before bed, then I turn the TV off take him in to say nite-nite to DSS, he'll go happily into his crib. It causes problems for me sometimes if DH is around because he always wants DH to hold him and play....he's daddy's boy!! So, usually either DH will bold him while he watches his show and then I take him into bed, or DH will come to say nite-nite to him while he's drinking his bottle, but before I go to take him into his crib.
We've been dealing with a little seperation anxiety when I drop him off at daycare and of course, he cries a lot to leave his daddy too. Is Ollie maybe going through any seperation anxiety? Is he more attached to DH than you? maybe try just having one of you put him to bed, or maybe try a little something different in the routine? Sorry it's not much help...we don't have a problem with Wyatt waking back up once he's down...so I'm really not sure about that.
Sashi
05-27-2009, 06:46 AM
Ollie is definitely going through separation anxiety right now, has been about a month. Only a week and a half for the sleep problems. He is definitely more attached to me than DH but cries bloody murder when he drops him at daycare too. We did start a new routine with watching Sesame street before bed (after his bath) and then we say goodnight to Elmo and go in his room. Last night he fought me to even pick him up to go in his room. All the previous nights he would whimper as we walked towards his room.
mcgwigan
05-27-2009, 07:02 AM
Sashi I think it's the seperation anxiety that has upset your bedtime routine. Wyatt does the same with the wimpering when we head to his room. He started doing that last night, but I told him that we were saying nite-nite to Remi, then he seemed fine. I did have to rock him for about 10 minutes and I have to play with him a little in his crib, but it seems to work. I'm hoping that the seperation anxiety ends soon. Thankfully when I drop him at daycare, she takes him and when we say bye-bye immediatly starts trying to distract him. I can relate though!
How have you been feeling?
Sashi
05-27-2009, 07:06 AM
Megan that might be what it is. Hadn't thought of it. The separation anxiety at daycare has been going on longer than the nightime stuff but I really feel like i need a reason!
I am starting to feel the exhaustion of the 1st trimester but thinking it might have something to do with my running around this weekend all over the world and having 20 people at my house on monday for a bbq and not sleeping the night before. Otherwise I'm ok. Getting full faster and staying full longer which I can't remember if I felt that way before. But my hunger comes on faster. I'm definitely gaining weight already and that's a huge problem. I have very little clothes that fit and can't seem to find the time to excercise. Our gym equipment is getting delivered tomorrow so i'm super excited that i can start working out!
How about yourself?
Sashi & Megan, you will definitely pop much earlier this time than last time. With Jackie I was in maternity (transitional) clothes at 8-9 weeks, with Seth it was about 6-8 weeks and with Aaron it was around 4-5 weeks!!!
Sashi, I would just be careful about sleeping with him since he might get into that habit and not want to get out of it, we had issues liek that when Seth was a baby.
Tammie thanks for updating everyone for me!
So when I came out of it yesterday I wasn't breathing too well. They had to sit me up and put me on O2 and I was a bit better. My throat was very hoarse and I had trouble swallowing, which I thought was just from the dry mouth. Scott did some research and we see it's a common side effect from the tube that goes in your throat. It's possible it inflamed my throat. I forgot about that when I went to sleep until I woke up not breathing. I had to sleep on my side, which isn't easy to do after knee surgery, so I didn't sleep well. I'm on my meds now & am in pain. My knee is bruised and swollen, but the inflammation in my throat from the tube seems to be better today.
I seem to be a bit better today, though, but I'm not going to try laying flat on my back until Scott's home later this morning (he took the kids to school & Aaron to his follow up for his surgery 3 weeks ago.)
As for my knee, Scott said the doc showed him pics of it. The cartilage was loose and Scott said it looked all stringy! I hope I get to see the pics at my follow up. Anyway, the doc told him that he hopes this is it and feels it should be. If it isn't, then he'd have to go back in and re-align the knee cap! I don't even want to know what recovery would be like for that!! Hopefully I won't need to find out...
Tripp had his WBV yesterday. He's doing well. Dr. said physically he acts more like an 18 month old, but talking wise, well, he's not talking. He does say mommy and daddy when he's whining or mad and I'm pretty sure he has said doggy and sassy (our cat), but that's it ... and not consistently. I'm not worried because Sophie didn't talk until after 18 months either and I didn't talk until after 2 years. So, all else he's on track.
His stats:
Height - 33 inches - 90% - 95%
Weight - 24 lbs 13.3 oz - 50%
He's still a tall little dude! I'm really loving his hair right now. It's kinda that surfer look where it flips out at the sides and is long in the front. DH wants to cut it short for the summer, but I put my foot down and said no way. It's just too cute how it is (IMO!).
I went to the movies to see 17 Again tonight. It was super cute. It made me smile ... or maybe it was Zack Efron that made me smile? LOL Honestly, I just kept thinking that Tripp might be that cute one day with cool hair like that (since his is similar right now) :rolleyes:
Separation Anxiety - We are going through that big time right now. Big time! Tripp basically grabs on to me and holds as tight as possible and the teacher has to pry him off me so I can leave the room in the mornings. It's really said. He has also started hanging on my legs and crying for me to pick him up. I never had that with Sophie. She was more clingy with DH. It's really sad. Hard to cook, but I just want to hold him when he does that. Mostly because I like the cuddle time and as inconvenient has it is, it's not going to last forever I know I'll look back and wish I would have taken the opportunity to hold him and cuddle with him while I could ... fine line between giving in and picking up and letting them cry a little so they don't associate crying with picking up, isn't it??
Sashi - We had nights like you are describing with Sophie. We let her sleep with us. I think we were lucky in that we didn't have a hard time breaking her of sleeping with us, but I have heard horror stories. We probably stopped letting her sleep with us occasionally about now (as in Ollie's age). I've been told if you let it go on much longer age wise then it's really hard to break baby of that habit. I'm sorry you are having sleepless nights again! If it makes you feel any better, Sophie's sleep did not get any better until literally the week before I had Tripp ... then she miraculously started sleeping through the night ... and she hasn't looked back, thankfully! Hopefully Ollie will do the same for you by the time new baby gets here.
Lisa - Ugh! I hope you don't have to have another surgery. I'm so glad that Scott is such a great husband and support system for you. There aren't many dads out there that could handle 3 kids, their schedules, a wife with a bum leg, and work. Go Scott! Hope you are feeling better today.
Megan - Bummer that DH won't be there for the next u/s. Does he have to work? I hope it's a girl ... just so DH really sees what it's like to be "smitten" ;)
Dana - You're welcome! :) By the way, those zoo pics of Addison are just way too adorable!!
tammie Tripp and Wyatt are the same height...Wyatt grew 3" in 3 months-it was unbelievable -the Dr had to re-measure him. I just got him some one piece 18 month short things for summer and think that I'll need to get him some 24 months ones to last us through...his torso is long. The 18 month pants are pretty long on him though! Let's see a pic of that cool hair!!
Lisa Glad that you are feeling a bit better!!
I hadn't been able to find my camera for the whole week and was on the verge of tears over it last night...I had one of those Murphy's Law nights last night and it seemed like every little thing that could go wrong did! Tammie- I could have written the same post you just wrote. Drew is very similar, serious hanging on my leg issues and he has the same words (Mama and Dada when he is whining, and will say something that sounds like kitty and doggie, that's it), I'm also not worried though, my older son didn't really start talking until close to 2 and well, he doesn't stop talking now. ;) We have his WBV on Monday, so I'll find out the stats then.
Is anyone else going through serious food pickiness? Ugh, this stage is so hard. You know they will eat when they are hungry, but it's hard to watch them eat nothing at a meal somedays. Drew was such a good eater right up till the past month or so, now he's in that "I'd rather be running around the kitchen, then sitting in my chair and eating" phase. Like today he had a good breakfast, a snack and then wanted nothing to do with lunch. Sigh. He also refuses a bunch of food he once ate voraciously. Being my second though, I'm not too stressed as I remember this well with Connor also!
OTher than that- Drew had his first haircut this week. Well, like half a haircut, lol. He had a sort of baby mullet going on with the back growing and top not, so he just had around his ears and the back of his hair cut, the top is still short enough that she didn't have to touch it. He was SO good, just sat there like "whatever"... having a 4 year old who is STILL a nightmare getting his hair cut, it was quite the pleasant treat for me!
Brady - Drew is just soo friggin' cute! We are going through food pickiness here as well. He wasn't eating good for a while but this weekend started to pickup. Now that he can shake his head no and yes and actually gets responses and knows what they mean he is VERY picky with food. I'm home by myself for dinnertime and it's his crankiest time so I just turn him towards the tv, put on Sesame Street and he'll sit there for almost 20+ minutes and eat everything on his plate). I think the food thing is just a phase. Keep re-offering it too him. He gave up on berries for an entire month and now wants them at every meal!
Lisa - can't wait to hear a better update. Feel better!!! I seriously don't know how you & Scott do it. 3 kids, work and pain!
tgoody3 - Tripp is sooo tall! (And I guess Wyatt is too mcgwigan). People tell me Ollie is tall for his age but he's only 31.5". He's also 27lbs so i guess those 2.5 lbs make a difference! We aren't saying too many words although we are working on it a lot at daycare and home. He's been acting out physically because he doesn't have his words. He started with Mine last week and he loves the word More. He likes to repeat what we say but it's hit or miss. He used to say a lot last month but now it's just babble again. Thanks for the advice and hopeful thinking on the sleeping situation. He seems to be getting better and I think it was lack of sleep. He takes two naps on the weekends and he took two naps 1 day at daycare too. He just needs more sleep than he's getting and the easiest would be if he slept longer in the morning but he doesn't. Separation anxiety is still there though.
Brady Drew is so cute!! Wyatt's haircut is actually a mullet - the back is curly and I'm having a hard time getting it cut-I have trimmed the sides and front since our first haircut though. Everytime DH comes into the bathroom while I'm washing Wyatt's hair, he keeps commenting how his hair is going down his back :). I'm afraid if I cut the curls, it won't curl anymore-it's just cute!
Wyatt's been kind of picky with his food do, I just keep offering and he finally has picked up some new things and will now eat scrambled eggs and oatmeal -he decided oatmeal was good again this weekend. I think it helps that I give him a spoon and let him do it himself. He also loves to feed me too, but it seems like once we start that he's done. He used to raise his arms up and say "do" for done-now he takes his messy hands and squishes them all over his face and hair for done :rolleyes:.
Sashi Good for you with 2 naps...Wyatt's definately down to the one nap a day. Saturday I made the mistake of letting him take a nap at 10, hoping he'd go down for another one, but no such luck so he only had 1 1/2 hour nap all day - grumpy that night!
Just came back from Drew's WBV
Weight- 25.6lbs
Height- 32.5"
I think it was like the 60th for weight and 80th for height. He dropped down a bit in the weight percentiles, but I sort of expected it with how active he is now. He's tall and thin. ;) It's funny because whenever i check his stats vs. Connor's, he consistently is always where Connor was 3 months forward. So, he's now the size Connor was at 18 months. lol.
His Ped. wasn't concerned about his only having 3 words at this point. He just said he'll reevaluate where he is at 18 months and take it from there (which I would guess would just be an EI appt. at 18 months, he's looking for 10-20 words at 18 months) Otherwise he had some fluid in his left ear, but nothing that required meds, just a follow-up in a couple weeks.
Megan- Too funny about the mullet. My brother was like that, he had really curly hair as a kid, and once I think my mother cut it, the curls were gone. So, I don't blame you for hanging on to it- so cute.
Hellooooooo everyone..
Lisa How are you feeling? I hope your knee is healing up and your throat has recovered.
Sashi I hope that Ollie's sleep regression was just a phase. Did I tell you how adorable those pics of Ollie are - how on earth did were you not both covered in chocolate in the dessert pic :p? Leo goes back and forth between using words and just babbling. I swear the kid has whole conversations in his own language.
Brady We have some tall babies in this group, Leo is the same weight as Drew but about 2" shorter. Leo is the same regarding food. I can not get him to sit in his high chair and finish a meal, and one day he will love something and then next he wants nothing to do with it...soooo frustrating! I hate going though all the effort make something he likes just to have him feed it to the dog! He looks so handsome in the pic.
Megan Wow 3" in 3 months, that's amazing! Leo usually ends meal-time with food all over too, on his face, in his hair. Sometimes we just go straight into the tub. I probably shouldn't let him do it but sometimes it's the only way he will eat (if he gets to play with his food first).
Tammie Wow Tripp is a tall skinny dude. I saw some pics of Tripp, I think on your blog, and I know what you mean about his "surfer" hair - it's too cute. He's going to be a real heartbreaker someday.
Leo is a mad man these days. He will just run and run and run - with no fear. We took him to this very crowed faire on Saturday and he just ran into the crowds exploring everything and keeping me very busy. He climbs on everything, spins around in circles and is go go go all the time. It's fun but exhausting. He's also very accident prone - we get accident reports (minone ones ) from his daycare several times a week. DH is sooo ready to TTC again, and while I also want another baby I'm just worried about being able to keep up with Leo while pregnant or taking care of a newborn.
I'm also going on a work trip for almost TWO WEEKS! I'm really dreading it, even though it's for something I really want to go to. I think that DH might change his mind about TTC after watching Leo without me for so long. They are actually going to come visit (I'm going to Vancouver) for a few days - but he'll still be responsible while I'm in class during the day. It will be a very interesting time.
Hope all is well!
Hey guys! I'm doing a bit better, thanks. I was doing better yesterday (Scott's first day back at work) and then I had to drive the kids to school today. It was not a pretty site! I'm leaving in a minute to get them and I don't want to drive since I know it'll hurt! To add insult to injury, I got my first PP AF yesterday! It's my 1st one since I got Pg 2 years ago and my 2nd in 4.5 years (I only got one between getting PG with Seth and getting PG w/ Aaron) so you add in the cramps and headache to the knee pain, and you don't get a happy camper! LOL
Lisa Feel better soon....in my house it would be either Pizza or Chinese food for dinner when I don't feel up to it...sounds like you need something like that tonight.
La_mer I picked up one of those toddler leashes for Wyatt because he was running all over at baseball games and they are sometime crowded. He doesn't always like wearing it, but I feel much better with it on him so I can keep track of him! I hope your 2 weeks away goes quickly for you! If your DH still wants to ttc after you've been away that long then at least know if you do that your DH will be able to help you with Leo doubly when you are pg. ;)
Unfortunately we really can't do that. I mean I COULD put the PNP in the guestroom (it's down here) for Aaron but there's no way Seth or Jackie would nap/ rest if they weren't alone in their rooms and Seth would never go up w/o being tucked in. I spoke w/ my doc (before I fell) since his wife told him I was in pain and I'm seeing him this afternoon (it helps to be friends with your doc). Jackie has a ride to school this morning and Scott's picking her up at a friend's house later. Tomorrow Scott's working from home and will drive the kids and my dad will drive them to Field Day on Friday.
I had my ultrasound today, so thought I'd pop in to share that Wyatt is going to have a little brother! DH is, of course, thrilled. I can look forward to weekends alone in the future when they are all old enough to want to go away hunting with Dad for the weekend!;)
It's actually perfect! The babies are going to be sharing DSS's current room, which is very boy themed and I was worried that if we had a girl, I was worried about how to make a corner of the room girly for her. Problem solved!!
LaMer- I meant to comment earlier on your TTC debate. I know it's always pros and cons vs. age spacing, but I will say I was very happy with the almost 3 year spacing (I got pregnant a couple months after my oldest turned 2), but mostly I had all the same concerns as you, when I thought about doing it closer to a 2 year spacing. At 3 though, my older son was potty trained a couple months after Drew was born, he could help out with things, get himself dressed (usually!), and was just much more independent. Good luck with your decision!
Megan, I congratulated you on the other board but congrats again!! It is fun having 2 of the same sex so close in age (and easier on the clothing budget if they are born around the same season)
Spacing: I have to say I LOVE the age difference between all my kids! Jackie & Seth are 22 months apart and the boys are just under 2.5 years apart. Even though Jackie wasn't even 2 yet when Sethy was born, she was able to help me get diapers and stuff. I also already had her mostly out of the stroller so I didn't have to worry about getting a double stroller. The hardest part about being PG then was that he was born in Sept after one of the hottest summers in ages around here and being that PG in that heat wasn't fun. Seth & Aaron being almost 2.5 years apart isn't bad either. My brother and I were the same age (but we were 2 years apart in school whereas my boys will be 3). Even though both times I had a new baby the toddler wasn't potty trained yet, having 2 in diapers wasn't that bad (for me at least). My kids are each other's best friends just like me and my brother were until the day he died. Scott & his bro are 4 years apart and Scott says they weren't really friends until after college. Just my 2 cents on the subject, but then again some peopel say I"m nuts for having 3 kids ages 1, 3 & 5!
Lisa Thanks! And yes, another boy does make it better on the budget right now. I was telling my mom over the weekend that I may still need to buy some things for the new little guy, just because he will be born at the begining of winter & Wyatt was born at the end of winter, so our seasons may not really match. I'm not too concerned about it. I'm hoping that I can get Wyatt into a bed within the next month here. I was thinking about just putting a twin mattress on the floor, but today have been thinking that maybe I should go ahead with a twin bed with a rail to make it more crib like. He no longer is such a happy boy when he goes to bed an whines/cries a little bit at bedtime now. Not long-not even a minute, but I was thinking he may be more apt to stay in bed, if I have it an actual bed with a railing - a twin mattress on the floor, he'll just get right out of, I'm sure.
spacing I think I'll like having them close, however, I am an old mama and didn't want to wait a couple years. My brother and I are 15 months apart & these 2 will be 20 months apart. I'm sure it will be hard the first 6 months or so because I think that Wyatt is going to be jealous of a baby, but we'll get past it! Whatever you do-don't do the 10 years apart....not that it's horrible, it's just more fun for the kids to be close in age!
Seth was a fall baby and Aaron winter so our seasons don't fully match either. For 12 month stuff Aaron needed an entire new wardrobe. We were ok for 18 month stuff since anyone who asked what we needed for his bday we told them 18 month stuff. Most of Seth's old 18 month stuff is fall/ winter and Arron needed for spring/ summer. But I'm sure he'll still be in 18 month by this fall so we're set then. I guess it'll catch up by around 2T or so.
We put Jackie in a toddler bed at 18 months so we could get her used to not being in the crib by the time Sethy was born. Seth was in it at 23 months for the same reason. Jackie did surprisingly well for being so young! Both of them got their twin beds around 2.5 (Jackie never needed guardrails believe it or not!) Aaron will most likely get the toddler bed sometime before he's 2 just because we don't know what it's like ot have a 2 year old in a crib! LOL
Sashi I was just wondering if Ollies sleepin was any better?
I ended up changing Wyatt's bedtime routine a bit & he's my happy boy when he goes to bed again. After bath, I give him a bottle while he watches a show - usually a short one like Blue's Clues, which seems to be his favorite at the moment. Then we say nite-nite to daddy and his brother and go in his room and read 3 books - The Foot book is his favorite and sometimes we read that one over and over...I let him pick the books - sometimes we get halfway through one and he switches. I rock him a bit as we read - then he goes happily in his crib for his little peek-a-boo game and goes to bed without a peep again. I have a video on FB that shows him playing peek-a-boo in his crib when he goes to bed- I think it's the sweetest thing! He had reverted to crying at bed time for about a week-so I think he just needed a little change.
We're down to just the bedtime bottle. Last weekend at home I didn't give him one for naps and he was fine and the sitter was able to not give him a bottle. She has a new baby starting next week and I was worried that he'd see the bottle and want it, but the sitter said that there's a little girl Wyatt's age that goes there and she has a bottle constantly and it doesn't bother him. He'll pick it up & give it to her. Anyway, I think maybe next week I may try to do away with the bedtime bottle...I'll have to see how he is with the new baby starting at daycare....he gets quite jealous when his daycare provider holds a baby, so I may end up waiting another week.
Once we're done with bottles, I'm going to wait a few weeks and try the bed transition. We go on vacation in the middle of July, so may try the bed thing after vacation.
Sleep has gotten better! Thanks for asking.
We are following the same routine so I don't know what it was. It was just two weeks of h-e-l-l honestly. Hope it never happens again but with a new baby coming I'm sure it will. He still cries when he goes in the crib and he knows we leave the room but it's not more than 10-30 seconds. He's just one of those kids that isn't happy without his mommy and/or daddy when home. Oh well.
I got to see the baby yesterday. Still looks like a blob, i'm only 9.5w but it was nice to see the heartbeat, especially with all the pains I'm having. And if there was no baby I would have no excuse to not fit into my clothes at this point.
I'm wondering if Wyatt is getting his second molars in. He soooo congested right now and totally drooley. Of couse, I can't get him to leave a bib on, so have been changing his shirt multiple times a day - he ends up soaked down to his belly!! So it's either teeth or a nasty, nasty cold. The sitter called my at 11:30 because his temp was 100.5 and she was going to put him down for a nap. She wanted to know if she should give him tylenol, but I told her no- it wasn't high enough and if it goes up and i take him to the peds, I want the temp to be accurate.
I would have loved to just keep him at home today, but am trying to not blow through all my paid time off before the new baby comes.
Hey everyone!
I have been reading along but haven't had time to post.
First Congrats to Sashi on the Pgcy! Also Congrats to Megan on learning about another son on the way!!!!
We are doing pretty well. Ethan just brought in 2 molars and I think the other 2 are just waiting and will be through shortly. He had a hard time teething but is a much happier baby now. He still isn't talking a ton but if you ask him what sound a cow makes he'll moo. He understands and will do simple instructions - he will take his dirty diaper to the trash ;) He knows how to turn off the TV and put his own shoes on. He has tried to figure out how to take his clothes off but hasn't figured it out yet luckily!! He is infatuated with shoes and will put any shoes on that are about the house. He will put on my shoes his brothers shoes and so on. He LOVES them. When he wants to go somewhere he brings me his shoes or he'll just put them on and point to them. It's pretty cute!
I hope everyone is doing well!
Too cute! Aaron can't put on shoes yet but lifts his feet for them so he knows what to do. He knows whose shoes are whose and will bring them to the right person when it's time to go out (he also did that w/ the kids' backpacks for school!). Aaron also isn't talking too much but understands a ton. I'm glad he's not the only one!!
16 months today (happy 16 months to our birth buddies!). We will nurse 1 time tomorrow evening (after Scott gets home to take a pic) and then we are done and I will never nurse another baby again.... :(
Hi Ladies!
Hope all is good with everyone and you're enjoying your summer.
We are doing good.
Is anyone dealing with their child whining? Addison just whines, what seems like all day long. I think it's in part that she can't communicate with us and gets frustrated. I've been trying to teach her different words when I notice her whining and wanting something. Helps a little bit. Any suggestions on how to deal with it? It drives both me and DH a little nutty.
We went to Atlantic City for 2 days we took Addison and we had my ILs with us. It was nice to get away for 2 days from work. I really can't wait for my long vacation to Ocean City, MD.
I hope everyone has a nice weekend!
Aaron doesn't whine but he does have full blown throw himself on the floor screaming tantrums if he doesn't get what he wants when he wants it! He just had one a second ago when he tried to grab my iced tea bottle. I had given him some but took the bottle away since it was empty. I was on my way to the kitchen to get him a sippy of after but until he got it he just sat and screamed. The second I gave him his cup, he was fine! The only thing I can think of is to just wait it out! Jackie NEVER had any tantrums at all, no exaggeration, and Seth's started after age 2 and were nothing compared to this!
Camp starts next week!! YIPPEEE! It's been a tough week w/ all the kids home and still more rain! UGH!! Today it's finally not raining but the ground is so soaked that we can't go in the yards. We did take a 1/2 hour walk around the neighborhood and it was SOOO nice to get out.
Lisa ~ we have that also. If you give her a piece of food you have, she wants the bigger piece or has to take if off your plate herself. Very independent. I found out my DH was the same way, not an easy toddler/child.
I hope the kids have fun at camp. I hear you on the rain, it's depressing. If it's not raining and Addison is whining, I'll try to take her outside to walk up and down our street, just to burn some of her energy off.
DelSol Wyatt does get pretty whiney and I know it's because he wants something, but he's not really using any words yet, so I'm trying to hold off on giving him stuff right away and trying to get him to use words to convey what he wants - eat, milk would be nice ones! He's most whiney in the evenings when we get home - he's tired and he wants to eat right away!! I've been giving him a bit of a snack when we get home to tide him over til dinner -which I usually get together pretty quickly - I'm amazed at how much he eats.
We've had a couple full blown tantrums and really, he only has them if he is tired or something else is wrong -hungry. A couple weekends ago we had a baseball game to go to for DSS at 3:30 til 5:30 and I made plans to go out to dinner with MIL & FIL afterwards. Wyatt had an earlier than nnormal nap that day, so by the time we got to the restaurant, he was pretty beat. He ended up having a meltdown in the restaurant - but I know it's just because he was tired.
Lisa Sorry about all the rain. Our whole weekend will be a washout here - it sucks because the Carnival is in town and the parade is tonight. DSS is in the parade for his football team from last year (they were undefeated) and I know he'll want to go to the Carnival because he's been talking about it all week. I'd like to take Wyatt -but it's supposed to rain tomorrow for sure. I'll take Wyatt tonight if the rain holds off, but I'm not holding my breath!
Dana, oh yeah Aaron's like that about food as well! It makes it hard when Jackie & Seth eat at the kid's table in the family room. We have to make sure that Aaron has his food first so he won't take off their plates! The good thing about that is that it makes Jackie & Seth clear their dishes right after they are done eating! LOL
We went for a walk this morning for about 1/2 hour. The kids wore their water shoes and I let them jump in the puddles! It got us out of the house and they were ok w/ not playing in the yard! The temps actually made it to 70 today!! And once in a while we see a tiny touch of sunlight poking through! It's a tease since the 10 day forecast has rain the next 8 days!! :eek:
It's been rainy in our area too & it cleared up enough yesterday late afternoon that I was able to take Wyatt to the Fireman's Parade & Carnival here. He was really good-sat and watched the parade on our laps and then we took him into the Carnival and tried him our on some rides. I was not sure if he would sit on one, but I put him in a little car with a stearing wheel, did up the lap belt and he was fine & stayed in it. He threw a fit every time we took him off a ride - he went on three. It was real cute. I'll try to post a few pics of it tomorrow - right now, I think i'm headed to bed soon! I swear, I can not remember the last time that I was able to stay up past 10 - 10:00 is a rareity for me as it is!
