Anyone have one? My son had a hard time sleeping unless he was reclined the first several months of his life and with #3 on the way this has me very curious...looks pretty comfy and can be used up to 20lbs (my kids don't hit the 20 lb mark until well after a year) but I don't want to shell out $100+ for something no one I know has tried.

That looks like a highly padded version of a carseat. My DD slept in her carseat for a good 3+ months. Every single night and a good number of naps. (I folded up a few blankets to pad it and keep the buckles out of the way..she was swaddled and couldn't roll so it was safe).

My DS took quite a few naps in his car seat. Like boilermaker said, it looks like a padded version of a car seat. I always buckled DS right in the car seat so I never had to worry about him coming out somehow. That napnanny thing looks like it also has a strap. Maybe try your car seat first?

For the first few months with my dd, the only way we could get her to sleep by herself was in her carseat. I'd definitely try the carseat first to see how it works.

It seems ridiculously overpriced for what is essentially, a piece of foam and some material. I don't think you would get much use out ofit past 3 or 4 months. Even if they're not 20lbs, by then they're starting to wiggle, roll over, and move around in their sleep. I'd be worried about sids or something much past that.
It looks very similar to a bouncy seat or a carseat. After baby comes and he/she is having sleep problems and nothing seems to work, then maaaybe I'd try it as long as I could return it if it didn't work out.

Many of the new swings have the same angle and seem more useful. You don't have to turn the swing feature on. I think the new graco one has a bunch of different degrees of tilt you can choose from.

not for 130 bucks! I would try the carseat or swing first

I was just going to say both my DD slept in their carseats in their crib every night for several months. It was a much cheaper solution!

The only place DS will sleep is the carseat. We buckle him in and he's out like a light. Try that first!

i always wondered why there wasn't something out there that resembled the seat of the swing - my kids lived in the swing because of the way it cradled them. i would try it if it could be safely used in a crib to avoid the whole swing to crib transition.
wasn't there a study that said sleeping in a car seat isn't safe? i tried it once when ds was sick and i couldn't do it, his head wasn't at the right angle.

I think this would be great for a baby with reflux, but the price is a little insane. Though I might have considered it when Daniel was tiny. He spit up all night long.

Plus I swear I heard something about their faces could become 'smashed' against the sides that prevents air flow?

I did see one very small study that showed there could be problems with sleeping in a car seat but it had to do with getting tangled in straps and their heads falling forward. Everything else I have seen says it is fine...including my ped.
I didn't mean to start a trend dissing the nap nanny. I actually meant it to be a post stating that it looked a lot like a car seat, which was very comfy for my DD. So it could be a nice looking way to get that comfort without using your car seat.

IF your kids are more comfortable sleeping upright, this looks like a great alternative to a car seat or swing. I never let my kids fall asleep in the bucket car seat - they seemed to fall over and I worried about the suffocation hazard. And I never felt comfortable sleeping while my kids were in the swing - just had images of them falling out. That's just me.
As to the cost, I'd pay much more than that to get a good night's sleep in the newborn period! For me, anything that helps them sleep is totally worth it!

I wish I would have known about this when DS was born!! He is 9 mths now and still isn't sleeping through the night! But, he is too big for one now. I agree with the PP that I would pay more for a good night's sleep. I think esp since you said this was your 3rd child - you will need all the sleep you can get to have energy to keep up:)
If I have another, I will definitely look into one.

Thanks for the feedback, ladies. I guess maybe I'll just wait and see what kind of sleeper this kid is and go from there...just curious if anyone here actually had actually used one. I agree, pretty expensive for what it is, but I will definitely fork over the cash if I have another sucky sleeper. My kids did occasionally fall asleep in the car seat, but I was too nervous to let them sleep in it for long periods of time. They did sleep in the swing pretty often, but now that we have a 2 story house, I don't want to have to drag the swing upstairs for bedtime. Also, I like that I can just put the nap nanny directly into the crib, hopefully making for an easy transition.

I just noticed their website says:
"The Nap Nanny is a free-standing product that is never used inside the crib."
Confusing since they comment that this was created because swings and carseats can't be used in the crib.
It does look cozy, but for that price, you can get an extra carseat or swing, and each of them would last as long as any other. Can't go wrong either way. Since you're probably buying very little else for baby #3, I wouldn't mind the splurge so much.

Graco makes a swing that you use with a carseat. I think it's called the snug glider or something similar. You can transfer babe from car to swing to wherever. It wouldn't be good to always be in the carseat, but in moderation I could see it being really useful.

I'm cracking up reading this and thinking, yet again, about how different babies are--my kid HATES the carseat and it's just about the last place he would ever want to go to sleep. I'm sure he would be shocked to learn that there are babies out there whose parents are looking for something that mimics a carseat just to get them to sleep better. :p
