Since I enjoyed this thread before, I thought I would bring it back. This can be your favorite - whatever - sort of in the spirit of Oprah's "favorite things" show.

Here are some of my current faves (some re-posted from WC b/c I'm in a hurry):

My Vera Bradley Toggle Tote in Sherbet:

I LOVE this thing. It's a great summer bag, and it is the PERFECT size. I can fit a book in there, my wallet, my Palm Pilot, my iPod, etc. but it doesn't look like a suitcase!

OOOH! I love my Vera in Sherbert too! That is the current pocketbook I am carrying. It is more summery than most of my others. :) That is what my luggage is in as well but I am hoping to find a wintery one this year.

Haagen Dazs Sorbet in Zesty Lemon... it's sooooo refreshing, light, and just delicious. I am addicted. And it's low fat... I follow the Weight Watchers lifestyle, and it's only 2 points per serving, which I think is 1/2 cup (I usually just eat it right out of the pint. Yikes.)

Stephanie,

Most of Philosophy's bath products are three-in-one: shampoo, body wash, conditioner. I just use it as a body wash though. This stuff smells SOOO good... actually, all of the Philosophy products I've used smell wonderful! You can find it here:

LOL These are nipple shells for breastfeeding mothers. You put them in your bra to 'shield' your nipples from your shirt, bra, or whatever you're wearing. They sure do make you look like Madonna or Dolly Parton but they do bring relief to sore nipples. ;)

L'Occitane's royal jelly and honey shower gel -- finally, something to which my sensitive skin does not react.

L'Occitane's lavender amber scented candles -- makes any room smell wonderful!

Hermes scarves -- beautiful, practical, perfect.

Ancient Limoges "tea for one" set on my desk (from an old Ritz hotel) -- practical and beautiful.

Roses -- The Lord's perfect flower.

Sure Sposa - it's my newest 'favorite thing'! :) It's great - it really, really lengthens w/o being smudgey or clumpy on my lashes. It seems like the only mascara I've used that actually looks better the more you use. When I remove the wand from the tube, it doesn't have extra blech on the end that I have to scrape off like a lot of other mascaras do. I don't ever get 'sweating' under my eyes w/ any of my mascara, so I can't speak to that, but the saleswoman promised that wouldn't happen. Maybe someone else can attest? It comes off easily in the shower (I'm very bad about using my eye make up remover), but it doesn't run everywhere if my eyes water (I wear contacts). It is mascara perfection. ;)

And very true, Emily, I am somewhat of a mascara addict. I think this just may have cured my problem, though - it is that good. I own all of Clinique's mascara, plus the Blinc Kiss Me mascara, a NARS, a MAC, a Dior, and a Stila, in addition to a bunch of samples that I get for buying other make up - and Smashbox lash primer, which I don't even need w/ this.

I guess I should say I do have long lashes and they are fairly full (full enough for me), so I wasn't looking for anything thickening, curling, etc - I just wanted lengthening, and that's just what this does. I think that's why it seems so lightweight. Before this I switched between the Kiss Me and Clinique High Impact - mostly the Clinique, it's my second favorite.

The main thing I love about the Blinc Kiss Me Mascara is that it is an acceptable substitute for waterproof mascaras for me. I'm allergic to every freaking waterproof mascara I've every tried, so this is a good option for me.

http://www.essentialdayspa.com/images/blinc/blinc-93.jpg

But for day to day, I'm loving Lancome's Definicils. I just love that it gives great coverage without clumping or gooping up.

http://a1034.g.akamai.net/f/1034/2886/30m/www.lancome-usa.com/images/product/76805_l.jpg

Murad Acne Complex has been a godsend for me. It's a little pricier than some lines, but it is by far the most effective thing I've found to deal with break outs. I have really sensitive skin, too, and it doesn't bother me a bit. A lot of WCers recomended it, and I'm definitely on board with them now. If you've got acne problems, *please* do yourself a favor and try it!

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but L'Oreal Voluminous mascara is darn good--and this is a former "I only buy Lancome mascara" mascara snob talking! I picked it up in the drugstore one day when I was in a hurry and didn't feel like going to the mall. I've been using it ever since and have recommended to friends.

Other faves:
--Now that I've cut my hair short-short recently, I can finally wear lipgloss comfortably. (My hair always blew into my face and stuck to my lips...ugh.) Chanel Glossimer, oh how I love it. The best!
--My eternal love, White Shoulders perfume. I've finally decided I give up on all other perfumes. This one is me.

Kari: It's a good thick cylindrical brush. I know exactly what you mean about the brush. I need a substantial one--my lashes are fairly long, but they are baby fine and blond-tipped, so they look non-existent without a good bulky application of mascara.

Republic of Tea Green Chai

I love chai and I'm just starting to love green (when it's loose, at least), so I'd love to know how this tastes. Think you can take a stab at describing it for me?

apoppy
09-04-2005, 11:58 AM
Sure,Katy, I'll try.

This tea is mildly spicy and very smooth. It tastes more of the flavorings-- cinnamon, cardamon, ginger and almond--than of green tea. You can let it steep for quite awhile and it doesn't develop that bitter or grassy flavor that some green teas get. I prefer to have it with a bit of honey, although it is somewhat sweet on its own.

Although the picture I posted is of tea bags, I have this as a loose tea.

Katy
09-04-2005, 12:13 PM
Sounds great apoppy. I was worried that it might taste a bit 'grassy'. Looks like I'll be needing to pick some up. I know I've seen Republic of Teas *everywhere* but do you mind saying where you picked up this one? My first guess would be to check into CostPlus.

It's Gap Body's "supersoft" line; those pants are currently on sale for $14.99, but I really scored and got the first pair I bought for like $4 in one of the stores about a year ago. I bought a pair of capris since, and I plan to add at least 1 more pair to my Xmas list this year. LOVE them! :)

My favorite things (with no pictures because the fact that I still have dial-up is NOT one of my favorite things :)):

-My green Honda Element - so useful and so cute
-Dunkin' Donuts coffee in Hazelnut - beats any coffee I have ever had, but they don't have any DD down here :(
-Bath and Body Works room sprays - I have them in several scents
-the Fieldcrest Luxury line at Target. I have the bedding and want to get the towels - they feel as nice as the Restoration ones at a fraction of the price
-South Beach, Miami and Playa del Carmen Mexico
-Mavi jeans - not the fanciest ones out there, but they fit me perfectly
-Neutrogena Skinclearing Clean Tint tinted moisturizer - unless I am going out, I can just wear this and it keeps my skin from breaking out

Oooh, I have last year's version of that bag in black - it's fantastic. One of the single most useful handbags I've ever owned.

Kate Spade Dot Noel "Ruby" in Chocolate - it's a discontinued color, so I got it for a steal from ebags.com. It's such a great, useful bag. Not to big, not too small....just right.

Oooh - now that it is the holiday season, I have to mention another thing I love - eggnog with Kahlua. You buy the non-alcoholic egg nog from the store (whatever brand) and then mix it 50/50 with the Kahlua. Then you can use a mini candy cane as a swizzle stick - so cute and festive. I hate egg nog with rum, personally, but this stuff is great!

http://www.dansko.com/images/shoe_single/standard_247020202.jpg

Also our Graco diaper bag. Ours is black and dark blue, far more subdued. Its style is so perfect because the pockets fit bottles and food on the outside ends (very accesible), and the strap is adjustable and really easy to accomodate carrying it on your shoulder or across you.

Body Shop's Body Butter is divine! My skin is so happy in winter. I use the Mango and the Coconut scents. My skin is miserable whenever I forget to apply it.

I can never figure out the brand of those bags. Can you tell me?

they are from vera bradley (http://www.verabradley.com) -- but you have to find a store that sells them and go there (usually places like crabtree and evelyn). you can't buy anything new online, although you can get "pre-owned" stuff on ebay.

the cincinnati airport has a vera bradley shop in terminal c, which is where i bought the bag last friday.

The size difference. The Nano is smaller than most cell phones and really, really thin:

http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/images/compare_nano_off.gif

And here is a regular Ipod:
http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/images/compare_ipod_on.gif

And the biggest difference between the two is the capacity. You can buy the Nano in 2GB; which is approximately 500 songs, or 4GB; which is approximately 1000 songs. The regular Ipod is much, much bigger. You can get it in 30GB; which is approximately 7500 songs, or 60GB; which is approximately 15000 songs!!!

Crazy love for the new Oxygenic shower head I found at Bed Bath and Beyond (http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=13719837&RN=670). Our third floor bath shower has the worst water pressure. With the new head it really is super strong spray that doesn't sting and no longer just dribbles on you, rinses our hair out super quickly. I highly recommend it for anyone with water pressure problem. It really is awesome and it uses half the water. Best purchase I've made this year.

http://seattlebonvivant.typepad.com/seattle_bon_vivant/images/spega_3.JPG

It's flying off the shelves of our local Trader Joe's. I may have to start stockpiling it! It comes in little glass jars and is the creamiest, tastiest yogurt I've ever found in a grocery store.

"Flip This House" on A&E (not to be confused with "Flip That House" on the Discovery Channel)

I just love this show on A&E! It focuses on Trademark Properties, a small real estate company in South Carolina that buys run down properties, fixes them up and flips them for a profit. The houses are cool, but it's really the eccentric cast of characters involved that makes this show so charming.

Seems like everyone I know is having a baby... I've been buying tons of baby gifts lately. I love Janie and Jack, they have the cutest baby clothes! I always find sweet and special gifts here. Website: Janie and Jack (http://www.janieandjack.com)

Bought it in Paris a couple years ago and became obsessed. Was thrilled to discover recently that it's now available on the Fauchon website.

They just did a house down the street from me and it's still for sale. I'm gonna watch it now. I didn't realize it was only SC properties.

Gucci Envy Me 2?!!?!?!???

What does that smell like? I love the original!

Hmm, it's like a lighter, slightly fruitier (vs. musky) scent than the original. I liked both, but I thought this was better for a 'summer scent'.

(We were traveling last weekend and I forgot my perfume, so I used it as an opportunity to browse. If it helps, my recent 'winter scent' was Armani Mania and my 'summer scent' last year was D&G Light Blue.)

hmmm...I sniffed this at Sephora this weekend and it smells EXACTLY like RL Style which I already own. I was hoping it would smell completely different than anything else so I could have an excuse to buy a bottle!

Try the zucchini flower & truffle soap. It smells wonderful and is a great soap for the kitchen & it doesn't dry your skin.
