Holy smokes - anyone else have an eater who won't stop? Liam has to be getting ready for a growth spurt - the kid will eat as much as his 4 yr old sister and then some!

suzfuzsunflower

Yeah, Benjamin is a big eater. :) How much does he weigh? I'm not exactly sure, but my son is around 30 pounds, maybe closer to 32.

Sunshine

OMG 30-32 pounds?!?!? I think Allison is around 25?!

~~~
So my daughter started a new daycare! LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SO HAPPY I put her in a play school type place rather than a dayhome. Not that she was slacking in anything before but I can already see changes after 1 week.
BUT, I got a "Valentine's Day List" for cards.....um, yah. I need to buy 34 cards! LOL.
I had no idea there were that many kids, I mean, most of them are part time so I never see them. I got excited about it because I have never got to do anything like this before.....But yah, guess I am running to Walmart after work today! LOL
Mirei is around 25 - 27 too. She likes to get on the scale and look at the numbers come up.
suzfuzsunflower
02-11-2009, 09:05 AM
Well, I was around 23-25 pounds at his age, and my husband was around 35 - at least he's not that big! :)
Sunshine, I'm glad you like Allison's new daycare. I think it's really cute that she gets to hand out Valentine cards. Benjamin's going to be making V-day cards with a little friend today.
Hi everyone! Chloe is around 30 pounds or so... not sure exactly because I haven't weighed her in a while.
On another front, I'm PREGNANT again! OMG I am soooo freaked out. Have no idea how long I have been pregnant or when I am due or anything like that. Have to call the doc for an appt I guess. I have only told DH, my mom, and now you guys. I'm excited but scared at the same time... anyway, just thought I would share.
I hope all of you guys are doing well. C's been experiencing some terribleness, too. Can't believe she's almost 2!!
BTW
Jen is now 32 and Chris is now 35
maniach - congrats! I hope you find out soon where you are at!
Liam hasn't been on the scale lately - but I'm pretty sure he's over 30 lbs - my guess is between 30-32. And he's got a little black eye right now - he was playing the laundry basket and found out the hard way that he can't lean back in it! Poor kido.
Sunshine - isn't it amazing how much of a difference there can be between daycares without you even really noticing it at first? When we moved our oldest to a full day preschool - it was amazing to see the change in her. We really want to move Liam there too but need to wait until he's closer to 31 months so that we won't have to pay the toddler rate. Love my kids but I just can't afford a daycare bill larger than my mortgage.
At least three of us I think are expecting again... That's all I can count from these posts.
Has anyone transferred to a toddler bed yet? We are trying to figure out how we want to deal with the furniture situation with Baby #2... I almost hate to do hand-me-downs but it kinda makes more sense to just get C all new furniture & bedding and put the new baby in her old stuff (with the same bedding and everything, because they are gender neutral). What are you guys doing? Plus, C still turns around like CRAZY in her sleep so I am kind of worried to not have her in the crib. The doc said that if she's not climbing out of the crib, don't worry about it and leave her in there. But at the same time, I'm not going to be able to pick her up much longer. I probably shouldn't be picking her up NOW, but, yeh, like THAT'S going to happen, lol.
We are also going to have the BINKY BATTLE soon I think. She woke up about 4 times between 5 and 6 AM on Sunday because she dropped it and wanted it back. I did tough love and didn't give it to her but it's annoying that she even wakes up because of that at ALL. Figure if I break the habit, that won't be an issue anymore.
I know of at least 4 of us that are pregnant.
Toddler bed - We're going to do that soon so we can use the crib for baby #2. I wish that we didn't have to, because I really don't want him to be able to get out of his bed! I feel good at night knowing he's safe and CONTAINED!
Picking up toddler while pregnant - I was also really nervous about this when I first found out I was pregnant. Picking him up would sometimes cause a painful stretching feeling/cramping which freaked me out. Now that things have settled down, picking him up has not been a problem....however putting him in his crib will be a problem soon due to a big belly....another reason for the toddler bed.
Our "big" ultrasound to check on the health of the baby (and hopefully see the sex) is a week from today. I am so excited!
Question: Does anyone else have an elmo obsessed child? We don't watch elmo on television, but somehow my son goes crazy for him while we're out!
Sunshine
02-16-2009, 09:38 AM
Picking up our toddlers is no need to worry. When our belly's get bigger I read that we should not bend over to pick up, but can still carry if someone hands them to us. I worried b/c of my m/c.....but the doctors and everything I read says that YES< we can pik up our toddlers. I am 14 weeks and still pick up A throughout the day.
It will hurt us, not the baby. (And I still haven't hurt myself....more when we are bigger)
We are going to transition A to her toddler bed (Crib that breaks down and will buy another crib that breaks down for baby #2) but she also moves so we are going to buy those rails that keeps them from falling out.
suz~YAY! 1 week! I have to wait until I am 20 weeks along. The place was booked up :( March 26th. 6 more weeks......ugh. lol
Woah! Congrats to all the preggo mommies! My little Westley is already almost 6 months old! I can't believe it! Felicity loves her little brother! Those of you who are on #2, it's SO great! It's a little work at first, but at least most of your #1's will be older than Felicity was. I'm actually a little jealous! I love being pg, and we want lots of kids. But I look forward to Westley being Felicity's age so we can interact with him more, before we have our next one. But, we pretty much leave it in God's hands!
big girl bed- We have started talking about this, but figure we have another 2 good months before Westley starts STTN and sharing a room with Felicity. She has no interest in climbing out of her crib yet, so that's good. We may even just move the PNP in there until she starts getting out of her crib. But, we'll def have a toddler bed by 2.
eating- Felicity RARELY eats! We don't get it. She goes through major binges though. But, she's growing tall, so we're not worried. Her brother on the other hand, is BFing exclusively, and starting cereal. He can't get enough BM, and eats so much he ends up puking up half of it. :eek: He is trying to grab food off my plate all the time! LOL
I miss this group!
Wow - what a group of growing families. We are pretty darn sure that we are done unless someone else has bigger plans for us.
Toddler bed - we are in this debate. We do have a crib climber. He's only done it to us once at home - I think his sleep sack saves us most of the time since he can't get his legs too far apart to climb. But likes to do it at daycare. I'm kind of holding out hope that daycare will take the plunge of having him sleep on a cot first so we can see how that goes :o We borrowed a toddler bed last time for Kyra and it worked pretty well - but the people that we borrowed from have a little one only 3 month older than Liam - they will be needing it this time around.
I think what we might do is by bunk beds but only set up the top one. At least the rails are already built in.
Elmo - it's one of the few words that we can get out of Liam. He is too funny with out Tickle Me Elmo though - everytime Elmo falls over laughing - Liam is trying to pick him right back up. Looking out for his buddy, I guess.
gf&js
03-24-2009, 07:38 PM
How quickly the words come out. Liam finally decided that the noises he can make can actually be words. Certainly aren't a ton of words that he's using but we are finally seeing some progress. But his favorite is to tell us "secrets" - even if they are just little "psst, psst" noises - it's the best!
How is the start of spring treating everyone?
maniach
We transferred Chloe to the toddler bed last weekend. She's doing really well. Since I'm pg now, I won't be able to pick her up out of her crib for too much longer so I decided we need to start having her sleep in the toddler bed sooner than later. We also have to tackle the binky soon and I didn't want to have to do two battles at once. The binky battle is going to be hard-fought.
Is anyone starting to potty train yet? Chloe is totally oblivious to her functions. She doesn't tell us when she's wet and usually tells us she's not if we ask and we know that she is. Thus, I think potty training is going to be a pain, too.
DH is out of a job right now and we are contemplating pulling Chloe out of daycare full time. She had been going part time. I am not sure how I feel about this. I know she is happy at home with daddy, but I'm afraid she'll forget how to be in school and around all those other kids. What do you all think? Am I just being silly?
foxyboo751
03-25-2009, 06:24 AM
toddler bed- Well, we haven't gotten a toddler bed yet, but we did lower the crib rail yesterday. At least if Felicity decides to climb out, it won't be that far of a fall. She was starting to climb the rails, that's why we did this.
potty training- We toy with this all the time. DD is going through stages. We're kind've letting her lead us, with a little bribery. She loves M&Ms, so if she goes on the potty, she gets 2. However, sometimes she wants nothing to do with the potty. She does let me know when she poops and when she needs a diaper change. She says "Mommy, diper change" or "mommy, poop". It's so cute! She is also very informative when Westley poops. LOL
words- I can't believe how quickly this came around! Although she's been slowly building her vocabulary, within the past few weeks, she's really bloomed! Out of nowhere she speaks in complete sentences (of course with a few missing conjunctions and prepositions). She is in every conversation, and mimics EVERYTHING! We really have to be careful around here. :)
food- Thankfully, Felicity's appetite has come back! I think that because she sees her little brother eating solids now, she wants everything too. She'll say "mommy, i eat" when she's hungry, and she always wants "woffel" or "weweal" (waffle or cereal).
Westley is growing up too fast! Those of you who are pg with #2, don't let the time fly by with your 2nd if you can. I can hardly remember him being a newborn! Westley is now 7 months old. He's been crawling since 5-1/2 months, on Friday he learned to sit up on his own, and on Saturday he learned to pull himself to standing. His new favorite thing is to "walk" holding onto someone's fingers! Ahhh! He's way too early for this. Oh, and yesterday, he was trying to build a tower with blocks!
Anyways, just enjoy every minute you have with both of them! It's so fun to have 2! Felicity is the biggest helper, and loves her little brother. I've been blessed enough to stay home, and I love it! I'm going to start babysitting a newborn in about a month, so I think that will give me enough of a fix of new baby for a while. We want more, just not quite yet.
So, here are a few pics of my cuties!
foxy-Your children are adorable! I'm really looking forward to having 2 and seeing them interact.
toddler bed- I think we're making the transition this weekend...wish us luck! We've been hyping up his new bed and we bought him some car and truck bedding (he loves vehicles) hoping that will help.
potty training- He will sometimes get me a diaper when he is wet, and will sometimes tell me when he needs to poop. I really need to buy a potty just to have around, but I'm not sure how serious we will be about training for a few more months.
words- He is talking a lot, and his speech is getting clearer. He can put 2 words together, but he still mostly just uses one word at a time.
Benjamin is a sweet boy. I'm really enjoying this stage, and while I am really excited for the new baby in July, I worry about how this will impact him. I know it will be a wonderful thing in the long run...but MIL has been telling me some pretty horrible stories about my husband and his brother right after BIL was born...
I'm worried about the same thing. I wonder how it will be for Chloe to go from being mommy's favorite person in the world to kind of being second fiddle for a while, since newborns take up sooooo much time. I know you have to schedule special time with the first born so they don't feel neglected or unloved, but that's gotta be really difficult!
Every kid reacts so different to a new addition. For us - we realized that an infant isn't as much of a direct focus for us because his big sister provided more entertainment than we ever could. Foxy said it best - the second one flies by. For those of you who weren't the oldest in your family and wonder why you don't have any baby pics - you'll learn quickly. But it all works in the end!
You'll get into your groove. My saving grace in those early months is that we still had our daughter going to daycare for 3 days a week. But you'll find what works best for you. And this time around - the mind numbing exhaustion wasn't nearly as bad - you just work through it. :o
I'm so excited for all the arrivals!
Is anyone planning on excising the binky anytime soon? DH and I agreed to do at when she turns 2, and I'm a little worried about it. Chloe LOVES that thing. Anyone else planning the same fun?
Hey All! Happy birthday to all our little ones! Felicity is not getting much from us this year. With me now being SAHM, we don't have much to spend. However, I am starting to make tutus to sell (if anyone's interested, PM me). So I made her 2 of those, and I bought a little touch leap pad from Beall's for like $20.
So, my DS is STILL NOT STTN! It's driving me a little crazy, because he's supposed to share a room with DD, and we can't move him out until he does (he's 8 mos). I'm nursing and giving solids (4 x a day), but I just can't figure him out! He's up almost every 2 hours at night! Any ideas?
Felicity is just a little bundle of fun! I can't believe her personality! She is extremely stubborn and snotty, but also incredibly sweet. I just enjoy her so much!
Anyways, here are a few pics of her in her tutus!
We got Benjamin a play tent and a little t-ball set. My parents have a play tent and he LOVES it.
Foxy, no real advice. I think my son was probably still nursing at least every 3 hours during the night at that point, if not more frequently. If you find an answer, let me know!
suzfuzsunflower- Thank you! I'm so glad to hear that! I know he can STTN, or at least 6 hours. I'm just spoiled because of DD (who STTN at 4 weeks, but was both BF/FF). Guess we'll just have to keep working on it.
Foxyboo, that tutu is just too cute! little girl clothes are so mcuh fun!
We do not use a binky, so I have no experience there. DS sucks his thumb in his crib and I am sure there's no way of keeping it to the crib only when we move to a bed! I have heard that you can make a big deal out of the big boy bed, and say that the binky only goes in the crib....
I can't believe my sweet little baby boy will be 2 years old next week. Where is the time flying?! I am so late in joining this group. I had lurked back in the pg and newborn days... now I wish I had given the time to stick around! :rolleyes:
DS is a ball of fun, energy and laughs. Actually, he just woke up so I have to run.
As far as beds go, I don't think he's ready for a bed yet. But I'm terrified of him climbing out of the crib (he did it once already) so I'm a slave to getting him as soon as he is awake. Lately that's just too early. Any ideas? I think he'd freak at a crib tent.
It's Chloe's birthday!! Can't believe she's TWO! She threw her binkies in the trash last night. My little baby's growing up.
We moved her to the toddler bed a couple of months ago because it was just too hard for me to get her from her crib and with me being pregnant I won't be able to get her up at all in a few months. She has done really well. I was very worried about her freaking out because it wasn't her usual or her falling out and neither of those has happened yet. She actually likes it pretty well because she can go to bed on her own! HAHA!
I definitely recommend a bed if DC is climbing out of the crib. We actually asked the ped at her 18 month appointment about transitioning her to the bed, and he specifically asked if she was climbing out of the crib. When we said no, he said not to move her until she did (she never did crawl out and we still transitioned,;)).
Happy belated birthday Chloe!
Maniach - what did you do to celebrate? Wow, i can't believe she voluntarily threw the binkies in the trash. Did she ask for them again at bedtime?
Right now I am just glued to the monitor when DS is awake in the crib. He is so finicky about sleep and has never fallen asleep in bed with us, so I don't want to mess with his sleep right now. He fights naps - doesn't want to be in the crib, but won't sleep on our bed either, and at night he fights but does sleep in his crib. So I am worried that if he were able to easily get out of bed he'd never sleep! :eek: He only climbed out the one time, and it was a while ago. But I watch him and every once in a while I do see him lift his leg like he's going to try to climb....
Anyone else experencing a child whose favorite word is NO? No to everything?
She didn't seem to relate putting them in the trash to not having them anymore. She did ask for them again, we just said, "you threw them away, remember, bye bye binkies!" and she didn't ask again. She does still ask for them, we just remind her they are gone.
Happy belated Mother's Day to everyone! I hope you all celebrated in style.
We were here, with my mom in town staying with us. it was great! DH made a wonderful breakfast for us, and then my sister came over with her family. Then we just hang out, went outside and played.
I got sweet sweet cards from my little boy and DH, and a gift to go shopping :)
I'm exhausted, and should have been napping while DS is taking a super great nap! oh well.
We are looking to get DS a tricycle for his birthday, but I can't remember the one I had seen... I want to get one with a removable handle so that we can push him until he gets the hang of peddling and steering. I found one by Radio Flyer, but I remember there was another brand too.
Does anyone know of other tricycles with handles for parents to push and steer?
Thanks!!
My baby is two. :eek: So strange to say. He's suddenly become a big kid to us. Words finally coming fast and furious. So much better at using forks and spoons. Big kid bed - I can't bring myself to it yet. My husband and his dad made the crib both kids have used - we are probably done with adding to the family so it's going to be hard for me to take it down. Liam is climber but as long as we have him in a sleep sack - he stays in bed. Now going to sleep - that can be another story some nights. :rolleyes:
Congrats to all the b-day's that have happened already and for the ones soon to be! It is so wild they are already 2.
I feel like as proud as I am of what a sweet boy C is, i'm also so sad that time is going so quickly. It's bittersweet. I find that I carefully wish for time to go more slowly rather than for him to stop growing, KWIM? I'm so thankful for a happy healthy little one.
Is anyone here also on LJ? I am journaling there as well...
I guess one of my next steps is to get an avatar on here though, heh?
Closing in on 2 . . .
Wow, I can't believe that our babies are turning two! I remember other mothers saying how much fun kids were as they got older, but I thought DD was fun from day 1, but now I see what they mean!
Sonja is talking a mile a minute. She interrupts every conversation where we are talking over her and says "What is Mommy talking about?" When she gets mad she stomps around the house saying "I'm SO mad!" It cracks me up.
I hope we get to enjoy this time for a bit before the terrible twos hit. We're most likely getting her a playhouse for her birthday and her grandmother is getting her a sandbox.
I can't believe it but I'm actually thinking about #2, even as I remember how sick I was all 9 months. We'll see. :eek:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all our little May babies! Felicity turned 2 yesterday! We had a nice little family bbq with the immediate family. I'm sure some of you remember, but my bff and another friend of mine had babies the same week, so we had their parties thiss weekend and Felicity's will be this coming weekend. We're going to make a piņata this week and the party will be at a park.
We bought a toddler bed last week (her room won't fit a twin plus Westley's crib). So, in one week we've been sleep training DS and putting Felicity in a big girl bed. Actually, she's not gotten out once at night. Naps are a different story, but she only gets up about once. I just threaten she'll have to sleep in her crib, and then she won't get up anymore. LOL.
bellabonga- We're still here! It's unbelievable that our little ones will be 3 this year! My #2 will be 2 in August, and I'm expecting #3 in July! My, how time flies!
I'm exhausted! Along with my two, I'm watching two other kids on an "as needed" basis, but it sure is tiring. Glad to think that my 3 won't all be the same age.
I don't know about you guys, but Felicity is a little firecracker! She is a huge help, and usually a great little girl, but sometimes, I just don't know what to do with her! Timeout doesn't seem to be working, and I don't want to use spanking (or hot sauce for that matter). But, she's too smart for her own good, and knows that me taking things from her isn't a big deal either! Any suggestions??
Hi Bella and Foxy!! Good to "see" you again!!! And Yay foxy!! Congrats on #3!!!
I was just thinking about how soon our LO's will be 3! I have a 6 month old now which has made things interesting, but its amazing how well Allison is with him! I am finding this age a lot of fun! (Mostly as well foxy) she has been throwing emotion around lately too! Not sure if its her age, or now having another baby in the house? I am also at a loss. I haven't spanked her either. I have used time outs and they seem to work but it takes me a long time to even use them. She threw a mini tantrum while grocery shopping for the first time yesterday and I wasn't sure what to do!
So advice? No...lol. Would love to hear suggestions too!
Oh, what are all of you doing "educational play" wise and also crafts! I need ideas!
I'm here, too. Just had #2 in October. Chloe loves her baby sister and baby sister loves Chloe. I can't believe she's almost three. She's a pain in the rear sometimes as well, but she responds well to yelling... she's started getting her hand smacked at times when she won't stop touching things. She usually gets three warnings and then DONE. She hates getting sent to her room, too, so that seems to be a decent punishment.
For crafts, her favorite thing is to glue things together. I cut out shapes from construction paper and she glues them onto another piece of construction paper to make a picture. We have made Christmas trees, turkeys, snowmen, etc. She also loves play-do and we got some "tools" for her to manipulate it. And there's always plain 'ole coloring or painting with finger paints. If anyone is need of a craft smock, I recommend going to the workshop at Hone Depot... they give you one of those orange aprons that the staff wears, but kid-sized, and write their name on it and everything. It's too cute.
Bellabonga- Yes, I have learned to have a great patience with my two and someone else's. Though, I tend to lose patience when I have the 7 month old around (boy I'm bbsitting). He cries ALL the time! So, I tend to get a little impatient. That'd be awesome if you have another one. All in good time. =)
I'm sooooo excited to be having #3! I want at least 5, but didn't plan on the last 2 so quickly. Guess they were/are in God's plan for me. =) We just found out last Wednesday that we are having another BOY! Though we were both slightly disappointed, we just know that he will be beautiful and wonderful like his siblings! (And we are no longer disappointed. It was a split-second thing.) Plus, it just means we'll definitely SOMEDAY have to try for another girl. DD is having a hard time thinking about another boy. She was set on a girl, but we have explained to her that it just means she gets to be the princess for a little bit longer. That perked her up. =)
Maniach- Congrats on #2! I can't wait to have another "baby" in my arms. You are so brave to glue things! We are slowly working to that stage, but it makes me nervous because DS (18 mos) will want to be involved too. And, I can't really do it separately because they BOTH still take two-2 hour naps everyday. (Granted, we're still up at 6 am every morning. But if they don't nap during the day, they are nightmares!)
Sunshine- I've learned during tantrums in public, to give a warning about time-out at home, or take away a privilege. Or, I just completely ignore it. I now have 2 in the tantrum throwing stage, so it's easier for me to ignore it. Usually, Felicity just wants the attention, and I'm pretty focused when shopping, so she'll pull this. I just keep walking, and she'll drag along behind me whining, crying and complaining. If people give me rude looks, I just smile and say "kids." LOL. I have had to leave playdates before because of them though. It sucks because I don't want to leave. :(
AFM: We went to Disney last week and the kids and DH all came home sick. We had a blast, but I've been able to keep the sickness at bay so far. All that's left is DS's cough. I was able to go on most of the rides that the kids could even go on, so that was fun. I LOVE being a SAHM, and do not care to EVER go back to work!
Well, I better get back to making dinner. We're having homemade pizza!!
maniach- Yup! 5! I am one of those weirdos who LOVES being pg and everything about it (except the constant migraines) :eek:. But, I've also been blessed with great pregnancies, no m/s or pains, no BH contrax, and having to be induced because my babies are supposed to be giants and don't want to come out on time. I think if I had horrible pg's, I probably wouldn't want that many. =)
