do you think we should combine our group w/the June '08 mommas thread?
Hi everyone! sorry I've been MIA, one of our dogs was sick and we had to put her to sleep Sunday :(
DS cut his first tooth last week, that sucker is sharp!! He still continues to pull himself up on anything and anyone and will take a few clumsy steps if you hold onto him, but hasn't crawled. He gets himself into position, but then decides it's just not worth it... I have a feeling he's going to go straight to walking.
Solids DS still gets 1 meal a day and I usually have daycare feed him, it's usually mid morning depending on when he takes his nap. Although the past few days I've been giving him some prunes at night to help things along. I very rarely give him cereal anymore, only if one of his foods is mixed with it. I'm not quite sure when to start him on finger foods etc... We had pizza tonight and he was grabbing at DH's slice.
Lvella43 I leave daycare 4 4oz bottles for the 9 hours I'm working and he usually gets 2-4 oz of food. If it we me, I'd probably leave a bottle for every 2-3 hours I was gone. Can you leave some frozen BM and it can be defrosted if needed?

We are on 3 meals a day and I am giving her pretty much everything (including yogurt and cottage cheese) except shellfish, nuts and citrus. Two days ago she had beef and tonight she had salmon, she has been eating chicken for a while now. I am still mushing it up, but making it chunkier. I have also introduced finger foods. Some Cheerios softened in formula first, then some ripe pear diced, and today it was carrots and peas.
If you are looking for guidance on what to introduce and just general ideas, the site steviem posted previously is a great resource: www.wholesomebabyfood.com

JLR - I don't think we need to combine threads...
Solids - J is getting 3 meals a day and 4 bottles a day. Breakfast is typically oatmeal or granola with fruit mixed in and a bottle. Snack - bottle. Lunch - jar of veg and jar of fruit and a bottle. Dinner - one of those mixed dinner jars and a jar of fruit, then a bottle. I've been making about half of J's food myself and the rest I just buy (like the mixed dinner jars).
Question...and this is a rookie question...we wait to give cow's milk after the one year mark but other dairy is fair game? At any particular month (J is 7.5 months)? For example...I was thinking of doing an ice cream cake this summer for his birthday, but since it has dairy in it, I figured to scrap that idea.
Lvella - yikes, that is tough! J gets 4 bottles a day of 5-7 oz each, so 28 oz? He is FF, which I know makes a difference. Also, I am going to check out that carrier this weekend, thanks!

Hello everyone! It's been a crazy past few weeks with work, but DD has been growing up so fast! She's officially mobile, been rolling around like crazy. She's scooting backwards and can get on all fours but hasn't managed to figure out how to go forward. She also loves to stand, assisted of course.
She's eating 3 meals a day, we've tried cereals, peaches, avocados, yams, sweet potatoes, and bananas. I think we're going to try some green veggies next, maybe peas and green beans. It's all purees so far, I'm impressed that some of you have moved on to finger foods. She's drinking about 20-25 oz of EBM/formula per day, hopefully that's enough.
She's been sleeping much better lately, she's been generally going down around 10/10:30 and getting up around 9/9:30, DH is much happier about that.
I signed DD and DH up for a weekly Baby Tales storytime class at our local library - I hope they have fun. She also loves going to the park and sitting in the swing. This is such a fun age!
We've been thinking of taking a trip somewhere but haven't figured out where would be a good destination with a baby...do you think it would be better to do a city trip or a beach trip?
Will be back later to do SOs...

Hi Daisy,
Like Bloom suggested, if you go to wholesomebabyfoods.com, they give info on why you can give your DC dairy products, excluding milk, before your baby is 12 months. It basically has to do with the fact that when making yogurt, cottage cheese, regular cheese, the lactose is mostly removed and therefore, it is easier to digest. In milk, the lactose is not removed..... or something like that :)
I haven't started giving Avery meat yet, but I will do so in the next few weeks.
According to our pediatrician, the following things can be given to babies in the 6-9 months age range: cereals, fruits, veggies, rice, potato, egg yolk (not the whites), and strained meats. I think chicken is usually recommended first since it is easier to digest.
Avery currently gets 3 meals a day, along with 4 bottles (6 oz each).
Early morning: Bottle
Breakfast: Some type of cereal with some fruit (ex. 1/2 a banana and some applesauce)
Late morning snack: Bottle
Lunch: Usually yogurt or cottage cheese along with a veg like sweet potato or avocado
Late afternoon snack: Bottle
Dinner: Usually a veg and a fruit
Evening Snack: Bottle
One of my favorite things to make when DS was around this age, was a big pot of minestrone soup. I addition to all the veggies, I would add ground beef or ground turkey (which I browned first),as well as some noodles. I would then strain the broth out and "mush" up the veggies/meat/noodles and feed it to him. Once he got better at "chewing," there was no need to mush it up since all the veggies were soft. It was a huge hit and so easy to make. I would do the same thing with chicken noodle soup.
Have a great day ladies!

meh. we've got colds here. I think we've managed to give it to a few others too. dS has been waking up the last few nights. I'm sick of being Sick & having colds!! I've never in my life had this many before. ugh.
Today has been a grumpy day for me & I've had a sinus headache all day.
Otoh, I have 1 of my sisters staying w/me, therefore, I have extra help for tomorrow! My family is going home Sunday, boo.

Spring has sprung and we're being hit by allergies...bleh. You know it's bad when it looks like it's snowing because of all the white pollen "fluff" floating around. Landon has been miserable and is up every 2 hours at night to feed. I'm so tired... So once again, we're all on meds-- I think my family is keeping the drug companies in business :)
We're heading to SD for a few days. I've been reading along but will need to SO later. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

I got sucked into all these blogs by way of a party planning blog. I think I saw lola b. I'll have to check out the other one. I've started bookmarking them to dig into later. Hi Lvella,
Here is the minestrone soup recipe that I mentioned in my other post. I have also included the groundbeef/veggie recipe that I use for stuffed bell peppers.
The great thing about these recipes is that you are not custom cooking for the baby- you are cooking a meal that everyone can eat :) You just puree or mash it up a bit for the baby :) Hope you enjoy.
Minestrone with Pasta & Beans
3 Tbs olive oil
4 oz pancetta, roughly chopped (I usually just use 2 strips of bacon)
2-3 celery stalks, finely chopped
3 medium carrots, finely chopped
1 mediun onion, finely chopped
1-2 cloves of garlic, crushed
4c chicken stock
1-28oz can of chopped tomatoes
1-14oz cans of cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
1/2c short-cut macaroni
4 Tbs chopped flat leaft parsley
Salt & Pepper to taste
Shaved parmesan to serve
1. Heat oil in large saucepan. Add pancetta (or bacon), celery, carrots and onion and cook for 5 mins, until vegetables are softened.
2. Add garlic and tomatoes, breaking them up with a spoon. Pour in stock, add salt & pepper to taste and bring to a boil. Put the lid on halfway, letting the soup vent. Lower heat and simmer for 20 mins, until vegetables are completely soft.
3. Drain beans and add them to the soup, along with the macaroni. Bring to a boil again. Cover, lower heat and simmer for 20 more mins. Check for consistency and add more stock if necessary.
4. Stir in the parsley and taste for seasoning.
5. Sprinkle with parmesan and serve
**For the baby, I use a slotted spoon to remove most of the broth and put some of the mixture into a small bowl and mash up with a fork. Or, you can run through a food processor if you want to make smoother, like a puree.**
Stuffed Bell Peppers with Ground Beef
2 Tbs olive oil
1 medium onion chopped
2 celery stalks, finely chopped
2 carrots, finely chopped
2 zucchini, finely chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
1-14 oz can of crushed tomatoes
1 small can of tomato sauce
½ c brown rice (or white rice will work fine too)
6 red or green bell peppers
Salt & Pepper to taste
Parmesan
1. Heat oil and add onion, celery, carrots and zucchini and cook for 5 mins.
2. Add ground beef, salt & pepper, and garlic and cook until ground beef is just about done (no pink left.) Drain grease/fat and return to heat.
3. Add tomatoes and simmer for 20 mins.
4. While mixture is simmering, cook rice according to package. Once done, add rice to mixture, stir and simmer for 5 more minutes.
5. Cut the tops off of the bell peppers and stuff with the mixture.
6. Add a little bit of sauce to the top of each pepper along with some parmesan.
7. Bake in oven at 350 for 25 mins and serve.
** For the baby, I just take some of the “mixture” and mush it up a bit. You can run it through a food processor for a second to get a smoother puree, or if your baby can tolerate the small chunks, just mash with a fork.**

Up for day around 6:30am or 7am
Nap 1: around 8:30 or 9am
Nap 2 around 11:30 or noon
Nap 3 around 3pm
Bedtime around 6pm
On the days Jack is not at daycare it looks like this for us:
Wakes up anywhere from 5-7am to eat -- if up before 6:30am, he will usually go back to bed until 7:45-8am
Nap 1: 10:00am (sleeps until 11-11:30am)
Nap 2: 2:30pm (after I nurse him at 2pm) (sleeps until 4-4:30pm)
Bedtime around 7:30pm (after bottle at 7pm)
At daycare his nap schedule is a total cr@pshoot -- yesterday he only napped from 11:15-12:30:eek:
Usually Ro's schedule goes something like this:
7/7:30am up for the day
9:30 1st nap (anywhere from 1-2 hours)
1/2 2nd nap, usually about 2 hours
7pm bed time (he has gone down as early as 6:30 or as late as 9 depending on what we are doing that day)

7:30/8 - up for the day
9/9:30 - first nap (usually 1 hour long)
12:00 - second nap (usually 1-2 hours long)
4:00 - third nap (also 1-2 hours long)
7:30 - down for the night
6:30-7 - up for the day
9-10 - first nap (90 min-2 hrs)
2-3 - 2nd nap (about 1 hr)
sometimes a third nap, if I'm lucky - 1-2 hours
8:00 - down for the night usually, sometimes it could be later
Then up 1-2 times (sometimes 3) to eat...

7:30-8:30a - up for day; on the days I don't work
10:30 or after - 1st nap; naps between 2-2 1/2 hrs..
3:30 or after - 2nd nap; naps between 1 1/2-2 hrs..
8:00-9:00p - Bedtime! (I don't get home till 6p or later on days I work, so I like to spend time w/him.)
I have to say that the time change hasn't done us good either. His napping all went capoot, when it occured. I NEED a blackout shade for my DS room. It's SO bright in there even up till 8p! The sun sets on his side of the room(West side).

Avery is down to two naps per day:
6:45-7:00am: Up for the day.
9:45-10:30ish: 1st nap
1:00-2:30pm: 2nd nap
7:30pm: Down for the night.

After complaining about nap woes last week, S decided to work on it a bit. Granted, she has been sick, so once she is feeling better, we'll probably be fighting naps again. This week it looks like this:
7/7:30 up for day
9:30/10 down for first nap for about 1 or 1.5 hours
1:30 down for second nap; this one lasts about 2.5 hours
7/7:30 down for bed
She pretty consistently sleeps through, but last night was up crying. I have a bad feeling it might be yet another EI. She also puts herself to sleep sucking her thumb and cuddling her blanket (small Little Giraffe).
The time change hasn't affected us. It never has. Basically we just keep them up a little later for a couple of nights and they still wake at the same time, so after a couple of days, they are tired and go to bed at the normal time.

for those that are still BFing, how many times are you nursing a day?
I'm down to about 4xs/day. I would like to finish bfing around 12-13 mos. & have him weaned completely.
My sil is due anyday now, and will need the double elec. breast pump from me in about 2-3 weeks.
Any suggestions on weaning?
for those that are still BFing, how many times are you nursing a day?
Depends on how often he wakes up at night, usually 4 or 5, then I pump 3 times at work. On the weekends I still nurse on demand, so it depends on if he eats a nice meal or if he feels like snacking. I'd like to finish pumping, but still nurse after he turns one. Depends on if he still wants to by that time.
for those that are still BFing, how many times are you nursing a day?
Any suggestions on weaning?
I am no longer EBF but am still nursing 2x per day (middle of the night and when he wakes for the day), I also pump 1x at work and at night so my DH can give Jack a bottle before he goes to bed, Jack takes 2 bottles of formula at daycare and then a bottle of BF pumped at work the previous day.
What I did to wean to formula was mix it in at greater amounts over time -- for example, DS takes a 6 oz bottle so for 3 days I did 1 oz formula/5 oz BM, then I did 2 oz formula/4 oz BM for three days and so on until the bottle was totally formula. To wean from a nursing session I cut it out completely and waited about 2 weeks before I cut another session out (I had an oversupply issue so I think you could probably do it quicker if you wanted to -- I think kellymom.com says 7 days between dropping sessions).

Nursing - We're at 6-7 times in 24 hours. Landon isn't sleeping thru the night lately (allergies, teething, illness... always something) so sometimes even more! He's a momma's boy, so weaning will be tough. I still have to watch what I feed him because too much and he's either constipated or has a complete blow-out.
Sleep - It's pretty craptacular actually. DS1 wasn't a good napper until he was over 1 yr old. L. appears to be following the same path, but I'm not able to devote a lot of time to it like I did with DS1. DS1 is starting to drop his nap so it makes it even harder! I have mommy guilt...
4 AM-ish - up to feed
7:30/8 AM - up for day
10 ish - down for nap (usually less than 1 hour and ALWAYS on my back)
2nd nap is all over the board
5 PM/6 PM - 3rd nap (usually a short 30 min catnap)
7:30/8PM - down for night
11PM/12AM - feed
Calling all sleep experts-- Does CIO work for naps? He's been CIO for 30 minutes so far and is still going strong :( I may resort to pushing them both around the neighborhood in the stroller to get them both to nap....aaah!
stevie - thanks for posting the recipes. Both sound delish! MMmmm I love stuffed bell peppers.
bloom - Aw, Landon says thanks! Poor thing is always mistaken for a girl though... even in full baseball garb :D

You guys are evil with all these web sites, I spent a good chunk of the day looking at party ideas and supply web sites. I have no idea what I want to do for J's birthday.
JLR - congrats? What did they name him?
So I tried a free Gymboree class yesterday and, compared to my small kindermusik class, it was a bit disorganized (chaos to me, probably not to most others). There were 12-15 moms/babies in the class and it was not that structured (esp compared to my kindermusik class - it's more organized but there are also only 5 of us). Does anyone else take one of these classes? Is this typical? I like structure, so my initial reaction would to not go back...but who am I to push my like for more structure on Jensen? Maybe I need to expose him to all kinds of structure/organization? My kindermusik class doesn't have a summer session and I'm looking for an alternative until the fall session. Maybe I will try the Little Gym.

Tomama:Ooohhh!!! Thanks for sharing those blogs. I heart them.....
JLR: Congrats on your baby nephew! I love the name.
Daisy: If you called Gymbo and explained your concerns (lack of structure, etc.,) I wonder if they'd let you go for another free session so that you can make your decision?
We've never done Gymbo or Kindermusik, but we've done classes through our local parks & rec program: tiny tumblers (gymnastics) and creative play. The gymnasitcs class is more like "free play" with very little instructions/structure, while creative play has a lot more structure (circle time, craft, etc.). I am like you, in that I prefer the structured class, but I think kids can benefit from both types of environments :)
Hope everyone has a good weekend. It's beautiful here in SoCal.... time to get my backyard in shape- must plant flowers and my vegetable garden! I've been wanting to grow my own veggies for some time now, but never seem to get around to planting a garden.... no more excuses!

JLR - I like that name too! I have 4 friends that are preggo right now and due within a month of one another, it's nuts.
Steveim / Gym class - I agree. I spoke to some people in my kindermusik class today about the gymbo class and it occurred to me that that type of class would probably be best suited for a toddler or a mobile 1+ year old. I need to look at the local guide I picked up for summer kid/baby stuff in our area and see if anything in there looks better. Because it's so nice here during the summer (we typically don't travel anywhere during the summer months), we may just keep busy enough with regular outside activities anyway (park, lake, beach, pool, etc.).
Hope everyone has a nice weekend. I'm drinking some Chateau St. Michelle cab right now. :) Tomorrow we're getting Jensen's 8 month pics and then we have a couple's shower.

yay! S's first tooth finally broke through!
I am so not a fan of gymbo. I'm sure it is just me but I really dislike how they want you to go around talking about your kid's accomplishments. I know it is b/c a lot of parents use it as their socialization time, but I've always had other outlets and not been into that. We go to Little Gym now and it is much more laid back in that respect. I like it for DD2 and DD1 but I don't like the instructor for DD1. I've been trying to find other fun things for DD1 and I to do together on our mommy and me day but I know she really likes gymnastics.

I have a ton to do tomorrow and did not want to have squeeze in at the dr's office, so we called a service that does house calls. The doc even came with the antibiotics so I didn't have to go to the pharmacy. Hopefully it kicks in soon and we have a quiet night. Hey Ladies,
Not much new going on with me, I've been crazy busy with work this week, but luckily I have help twice a week now (my nanny was only coming once a week for awhile). My poor nanny is a wreck - she needs a hysterectomy (this is why you need annual exams!) and she is getting a divorce. :(
We had Jensen's 8 month pics last weekend and it ended up being scheduled right when he wanted to sleep, so the first half of the pics are cute and we were able to get smiles out of him and the rest are of a sad, non-smiling baby and some had tears, oh well. There are enough good ones to choose from.
Bloom - omg, poor baby, how is she doing?
lvella - I want to make that soup too! I wonder if Jensen will be the same size as Dylan when he is 9 months.
Steveim - I'm jealous that you were gardening, I am so ready to do some. It freaking snowed here today! Okay, it didn't snow much and it didn't stick, but still, where is the spring? It has been raining for days too.

Hey there! I am enjoying my slow time at work and doing some sewing projects. If anyone is interested in some little reversible tunic top/dresses for their girls, let me know what size. I have lots of fabric, but don't have pics so if you trust me to pick something cute....LOL
Just let me know:
Size
General color - super girly/flowers/pink...or something cute but not necessarily super girly.
I am just looking to get the $ back it takes for making and mailing which is about $12.
Here are some general ideas:

Hi Girls...
I feel so bad every time I post because I know it has been so long since I have posted. Gavin just turned 8 months on Monday, I can't believe how fast he is growing up. He got his two bottom teeth back in February and he is cutting his two top teeth right now. He loves to get up on all fours and rock but he has not yet realized that he actually has to move his arms to crawl.
Gavin is doing well with his cereal, fruits and veggies. We started giving him the Gerber puffs and he looves them. We only give him one at a time because he loves them so much he will try to shoove like 3 - 4 in at one time. :p We have not given him any meat yet. I guess that is next.
We recently bought a Joovy Ultralight Caboose stroller. Originally we did not want a double because DS#1 is already four but we decided to buy it because it's a sit-and-stand type stroller. We love it and what is even better is our 4 year old will actually sit in it. I think I have decided to buy either a Beco or and Ergo. I have a BabyHawk and I have been wearing Gavin in it every Saturday for Dylan's soccer game and I just don't find it that comfortable so I think I need something else.
So my friend had her third baby (a girl) on Monday and I went to see her in the hospital. Holding a newborn made me so emotional. Probably because Gavin is growing up so fast and I am pretty sure he is our last baby. Ever since I held her all I can think about is that I want another baby. But that is crazy, I can barely handle the two that I have. Are there any other RO who are considering having a 3rd? Please tell me I am totally crazy.
I will be back later to do some much needed replies.

my poor son is constipated... going to the grocery to pk up some prunes. Any other suggestions?
A's top 2 teeth are coming in at the same time! They've just barely broken through... What a difference the last day made!
lcarlson hang in there w/the teething. I'm right there w/ya. Sounds like he's doing well otherwise!
Well, I only have ds, but am considering ttc#2 sometime this year? We may try on our own, but it kinda looks like we may have to go back to see our lovely RE, since I don't get my AFs on my own(induced w/meds.). I'm really not excited about clomid/met. & etc; etc..
Girls clothes are so much cuter than boys lvella those are cute! A girl can dream, right?!

JLR Try mixing applesauce or pearsauce in any of the food he is eating. Works like a charm in this household.

Lana turned 8 months last week. I thought 7 months was fun but 8 is even better! I went to a storytime at the library with DH and DD on Tuesday. It was fun to see her interact with other babies and talk to other moms. DD is still scooting backwards, still hasn't figured out how to go forward.
She's had her two bottom teeth since 6 months and I think her top two are just about to come out.
We're still slowly incorporating new foods, just purees. She loves fruits but we haven't had much luck with the veggies though we haven't tried that many yet. She couldn't stand the peas. I just bought some squash to try
out.
So I've been EP'ing but lately my output seems to have gone down and it takes longer for me to letdown. Maybe it's a sign that I should actively start weaning.
DD is huge, must be 22 lbs by now. It's so hard to carry her in her Graco SafeSeat, so we finally installed the Britax Marathon and bought a Maclaren Quest. Much easier on the back...
I was thinking of going to Disneyland with DD and DH since it's free for me on my b-day but I'm not sure that DD is old enough to enjoy it yet.
Has anyone introduced a sippy cup yet? I'm wondering if we should start trying it out in the near future.
JLR: We give DD some white grape juice diluted with water after her solid feedings to keep her regular.
Lvella: Those dresses are cute! Do you have sizing dimensions and what fabric options are there?
Bloom: Hope DD feels better soon. DD also started clapping a couple days ago, it's so cute.
Lcarlson: I'm thinking about when to have #2 but haven't managed to convince DH yet. I come from a family of 3 so I've always wanted a bigger family.
Daisy: How do you like your nanny and how'd you find her? We'd been looking at daycare centers for when DH starts work in July, but I've heard that nannies are a little less expensive these days since the economy is so bad. Thinking it might be worth exploring.

Bloom: Oh no! I hope S feels better soon. Poor baby.
Lvella: Glad at least one of your kiddos liked the soup :) Avery gives me weird looks too when I give her something for the first time. We tried rice and black beans the other night and I think she thought I was insane!
Daisy:Good for your for keeping up with pics for DS. I find the whole professional picture taking thing to be way too stressful  I took DS twice when he was a baby (to Sears ). DS cried the whole time, I was a hot sweaty mess and the pictures turned out like crap, yet I proceeded to spend several hundred dollars buying ALL of them cuz I am a sucker. Needless to say, I have not taken Avery once! Poor girl..... now I feel guilty ;)
JLR: Prunes worked in our house. I heard that any of the "P" fruits will help with constipation (prunes, pears, peaches).
Undesigned: We went to Disneyland for DH's bday in January. Granted, Avery couldn't go on any rides, but it was still an enjoyable day. She had fun looking at everything.
Lcarlson: So great to hear from you :) With regards to TTC #3, I stress/obsess over it ALL.THE.TIME!!! After having DC#1, it was a non-issue about TTC #2 cuz we knew we wanted another one for sure and we knew that I wasn't a spring chicken so we planned to TTC #2 when DS was 15 months. I didn't think/fret/worry about it since it was something we both wanted. Now, with having a 3rd baby, that's a whole other story!! DH is mostly content with having 2; I am the one who *thinks* I want a third. But our house is small, 2 kids seems manageable (each of us can man-handle a child if needed), and 3 seems over whelming. BUT...... there is something inside of me that says I want another. DH and I haven't even sat down to have the big discussion since I am afraid that he will say no.... ugh! So I think about it all the time..... should we stick with what we've got (2 healthy babies) who each can have their own room, or, take the leap and go for a third. I just really, really wish I wasn't already 36 cuz I'd love to wait a few years, then work on #3, but I don't have that kind of time. Decision, decisions.....
Hope you all have a great weekend! I have my first wedding of the season.

Happy Friday!!!
Third Child - there was actually a good article about this in the current Parents magazine. I can't really join the convo since I only have one, but I am definitely having another.
Steveim - you can probably take really nice photos of your kiddos yourself! I'm not totally thrilled with our photog (I bought a first year package), but about half of them do turn out fab. When I'm done with her, I'll be using my friend that has a studio in her house (I should have used her from the get go, but felt weird asking).
Undersigned - We actually found our nanny and Saturday night sitter on Craigslist. They are both about 45 and our nanny is $18/hr and the sitter is $15/hr. This is pretty much the going hourly rate range in my area. A friend of mine (who lives out on one of the islands, so much more rural) claims she pays $8/hr - to me this seems like robbery, isn't that below minimum wage? My back-up nanny is $15/hr too and both nanny's do laundry, dishes, meal prep, etc. I'm pretty sure that day care facilities in our area are less expensive, but I've never looked into it. And, yes, there are tons of available nanny's in my area, tons! Good luck with your search.
Lvella - super cute dresses! I sure wish I knew how to sew.

Landon is such a funny character-- always smiley and happy, even with very little napping...ugg. I've tried everything. Lately I just put him down 2-3 times a day in hopes that he naps. He just cries most of the time-- sometimes catnaps for 15-30 minutes. Weird. At least he goes down easy at night.
His bottom 2 teeth are completely in and now he's working on his top 2. He ♥'s puffs and barley teething bisquits... basically he loves anything that goes in his mouth. His latest "trick" is giving high-fives. Again, funny little guy!
I'll BBL for SO's.

Hi Everyone!
Last week was miserable for us. Ben was sick for the first time with a cold that turned into a double ear infection. It was so traumatic for me, I felt so helpless. His sleep which was getting better totally sucks again now. He is up just about every hour and then up for the day at 5-5:30am. He's teething too, so hopefully soon he'll be back to sleeping more. Needless to say, I am one tired mama.
On top of that, a good friend of mine is once again going through chemo treatments and it is roughing her up a little this time. This is her 6th round of treatment (5have been in the past 8 years). She is/has been Stage 4 for the past five years and is such an amazing fighter. She just found out that she has pneumonia on top of everything which is really scary. I pray everyday that she'll come through it again for her DH and her two little boys...
Other than that things are great. He started crawling the beginning of last week! We still have to babyproof. He is into everything and is keeping me on my toes. How did my tiny little baby get so big??!!!
Just found out that my FIL liked to feed my 16 month old niece ice cream from when she was 6 months old as his special treat for her. It came up at a family dinner..someone said something along the lines of "too bad Grandpa K isn't here Ben, cause then you could be eating ice cream." Uhhhhh.....hell no. I was really put off by it and said so. I am so glad I have never left Ben alone with my in-laws and now have even more of a reason. Seriously who gives a 6month old ice cream?????
Finally have time for some SOs.
ToMama - Landon is such a cutie. I feel your pain with the naps, but it's great that he's such a happy little guy.
Daisy - Hope you are enjoying your Saturday nights out. That is a great idea. Sorry to hear about your nanny. Good to hear you got some good pics. I've been kind of lax about keeping up with the pictures. We have a first year package, and I've only used it once so far. Chiming in on the gymbo thing from a while back. We did the trial class, and it was okay. I was going to sign Ben up for something to do, but I never got around to it. It was unorganized in our area too. I think I am going to do a trial class at the little gym and see how they are.
JLR - Pears or prunes work great for Ben. That playdate sounded fun.
steviem - Thanks for posting that recipe. I think I'm going to try it. Ben eats just about anything. Have fun with the wedding....is it going to be a busy spring season for you?
undesigned - Good luck with the veggies. I'm sorry to hear about your supply. I'm impressed that you made it this long EP-ing. I hate the pump and would rarely get anything. I was so happy that I decided to stay home and didn't have to worry about pumping.
lcarlson - I don't think your totally crazy for wanting a third. I come from a family of 4 kids, and I love it....as does my mom. Ben loves the Gerber Puffs too. He had what I think was his first little tantrum in the grocery store the other day. They were on sale so I put about 4 containers in my cart, and he saw them and started crying because I wasn't giving him any. He did the same thing when I put them on the conveyor belt.
Lvella - Cute dresses. I wish I could sew.
Bloomwood - Hope S is feeling better. Yay for clapping her hands!

jeanine- Aw, hope Ben is feeling better soon and you can get some rest. His sleep could also be affected by the new teeth and also new skill-- crawling is a big milestone! It seems like everything always happens at once and sleep goes by the wayside. Hang in there! So your FIL likes to give babies ice cream? I caught my MIL giving Landon syrup... WTH!!! She thinks he's starving... no, he's teething and his first food shouldn't be high fructose corn syrup...Arrgh!
steviem- I'm exactly where you are re: #3... I don't think DH wants another though. He's not really a baby person and he keeps saying how going from 1 to 2 has been a huge challenge. What to do...
undesigned - We've taken L. to Disneyland twice so far and he absolutely loved It's a Small World. Both kids were enthralled.
JLR - Be careful with those prunes, they can lead to, um, explosive diapers :) I saw your thread about rolling over. If you're worried, don't hesitate to ask your Ped for a referral for an evaluation-- if anything for peace of mind. I mentioned it before, but both my kiddos were/are in P/T stemming from torticollis. For DS1, there were some slight delays, so he was in P/T from 7 weeks until age 2. He rolled tummy to back at 7 months and back to tummy at 9 months-- this was with P/T, may have been later without. Each state is different, but in Calif. his delays qualified him for P/T, E/I (early intervention), O/T (occupational therapy) & Speech thru age 3-- all paid for by the state and administered by the county. I'm so glad we had this resource-- He's now a typical, crazy little boy :)
lcarlson - You're not crazy! Okay, maybe you are, but so am I. :p
lvella - I wish I could sew. I was just thinking about buying a sewing machine & winging it... Cute dresses, I like the fabric on the 1st one. Alas, no girls here.
bloom - Poor little S! Impetigo too? I hope she's feeling better. House calls, now that's a great service. We may need to do tubes with DS1, he's had fluid in his ear since January and is on his 4th ear infection... He's such a drama king, I'm hoping that this last round of antibiotics clears it up.
I better go... DS1 is still up and it doesn't look like DH is putting him to bed anytime soon.
Have a great weekend!

Daisy - I have not taken G to Gymboree yet but I took DS#1 very early on. I don't really think he enjoyed it until he was old enough to crawl. I have only bee to My Gym once and it was for a party but I thought it was pretty cool.
JLR - Congrats on the arrival of your nephew. That is great that he will be close in age to your little one. Sorry you are having issues with constipation. DS#1 has always had issues with constipation since he was a baby.
StevieM - I hope your first wedding went well. I love planning events and always thought I wanted to be a wedding planner but I don't know if I could deal with the brides. I just planned a bridal shower this past Saturday and I had a hard time just working with the other bridesmaids.
I hear you on being conflicted about having a third. At least if you decide not to have another child you have already been able to experience a boy and a girl. I think that is the biggest reason I want a third is because I have always wanted a daughter.
Bloomwood - I am so sorry that S has had so many ear infections and now impetigo. :( It seemed like DS#1 always had an ear infection the first year he was in daycare. For some reason G has not had one yet. That is really cool the you have a physician that will make house calls. I wonder if we have a service like that where we live?
Lvella - I can't believe that D is already 9 months old. It looks like you have a little peanut compared to my chunky baby. You are so talented. I love your little dresses and I would definitely buy some, put I don't know if my DH would appreciate me putting Gavin in a dress. ;)
undesigned - That's great that Lana is scooting at least, my baby gets up on all fours and rocks but he doesn't know what to do from there. I can't believe L was still in her infant seat. We had to switch G to the Britax at 6 months.
ToMama - G sounds just like your little one. He is not a good napper but for the most part he is pretty happy during the day. I do find that he wants to be held all the time and I wonder if it's because he is tired. That is so cute the L gives high fives.
Jeanine - I am so sorry that Ben was sick. Ugh, just when you think you are getting them into a good sleep pattern then it seems like something screws it up. I am so sorry to hear what your friend is going through. I HATE Cancer. I can't believe you have a little crawler already. That is so funny about Ben having a tantrum over the puffs. Gavin gets really angry when we take them away from him too.

Bloom That sucks! Hope everyone feels better soon!
We had a hell of a weekend, DS DID NOT want to go to sleep... 2 hours of fighting with him each night. Well yesterday the culprit showed itself, he cut his 2nd tooth. DS has also started crawling with more frequency, he still would rather stand and try to walk, but at least he's moving around. Although nothing is really that important for him to crawl very far :)
I'm hoping that my DH can get the Britax that's in his car inspected this week so he can install mine in my car... I'm getting a backache from carrying the chunky monkey in the infant seat!
I completely forgot that Easter is this weekend. Hopefully we can get him to see the Easter Bunny by Saturday and I wondering if I should do a basket or not. For those that celebrate, are you doing a basket and what are you putting in it??

Sue - I am glad that the sleep problems were just temporary. I can't believe your baby is crawling already. G really wants to he just can't seem to figure it out. I can't imagine carrying an 8 month old in the infant seat. You must have some great arm muscles. I bought DS a cute fabric bunny bag from PBK but I haven't filled it yet. I think I will probably put some Gerber Puffs in it, a little bunny and maybe a board book.

Am I a bad mom if I skip Easter this year? It's not like J will remember anyway. I am not super religious and DH has never celebrated. We're out of town and will be on a plane Sunday.

Daisy - I think you're fine skipping Easter this year. We haven't planned anything yet either. I hope I'm not being a grinch, but I'm thinking about not starting the whole Easter basket/Easter bunny tradition this year-- we really don't need anymore candy, toys or books right now.
carrier - We still have L. in his carrier and boy do I have the arm muscles to show for it. :p Today was the worst, took both boys on a train ride w/ DS1's school and ended up having to lug Landon (sleeping in his carrier) & meltdown DS1 back to my car. I'm exhausted!
Oh gosh, L.'s up from his 1/2 hour nap. BBL.

Daisy - You are not a bad Mother for skipping Easter this year. Like you said J will not remember it anyway. I have to do something because I have a 4 year old and he would definitely know if I skipped Easter. ;)
I am actually really excited about Easter this year. I bought the boys matching Argyle sweaters from Gymbo. They are going to look so cute. I think it's so funny that DS#1 (who is 4) is so excited that he is going to have the same sweater as his baby brother. In a few years he will be pissed that I ever dressed them alike.

Thanks ladies - I have this voice in the back of my head that keeps telling me that I need to do all these special things because it's his first ________.
lcarlson - they are going to look so cute, I totally know which sweaters you're talking about too (since I seem to be in gymbo twice a week lately).
tomama - me too, my arms have never been so buff! :D
sue - wow! Jensen only throws it in reverse.
So I would like to restart my morning - Jensen woke up way early (like 6:45, usually we get up at 7:30/7:45) and he totally peed out his diaper and it soaked through everything. Not really what I wanted to deal with. Since I'm complaining, I'll continue...my dad is coming today, which is typically fine, but I have a boat load of work to get done before tomorrow evening and it would be nice to stretch it out over 2 days instead of doing it all tomorrow. We're going to Palm Desert Thursday night and I plan on doing some major shopping at the outlets on Friday (I am sooo excited!!) and I do not want my clients bothering me. :p
Also, DH was not paying attention yesterday when he was giving J dinner and he kicked the jar of food and the entire thing spilled on our light cream colored carpet! Good think we're planning on replacing it, it's a freaking disaster.
Hope everyone is getting a better start to the day!

Yep, I skipped Easter for DD1 her first year (well, we still went to brunch). S gets a basket this year because, like lcarlson, her sister does! You are not a bad mommy for skipping.
Daisy - those outlets are seriously THE BEST. My parents live down there but I don't get to go the outlets often enough. Do some shopping for me!! (and tanning for that matter)
S's sleep is so amazingly f-ed up after the weeks and weeks of illness. We are going to start STing her again tonight. I can't imagine it will take more than a night or two but I am one exhausted mommy.
On the brighter side, she will NOT let me set her down. She wants to stand. As soon as she sees the floor coming, her feet go stiff and she looks for what she can hold onto.

I was at the mall yesterday and we got a picture with the Easter bunny, so now no one can say I didn't do anything for Easter!! :D
Yesterday, Jensen peed out 3 diapers, WTH. One in the morning (peed it out in his sleep), one right after that (which was on him for like an hour) and one later in the afternoon (that one was probably my fault, the other two, I have no idea).
Our Babystyle is still open - I think it's still getting what's left at the warehouse. Anyway, I did pretty well in there for J yesterday - clothes and toys.
JLR - I got mine back on the day I turned 30, it was lovely.

Daisy - I hope you have a great time in Palm Desertand shopping at the outlets. Sorry that J has been leaking through so many diapers. I found that with DS#1 when he started leaking out of the diapers it usually meant it was time to move to the next size up. I know I sound so crazy but I have been dreading moving G out of the Pampers swaddlers because I feel like moving to the Cruisers means he is not my little baby anymore. :(
Bloom - Sorry S's sleep has been so messed up. Hopefully it will only take a few days to get her back on track.
JLR - Sorry that AF is here but I guess it's a good thing if you plan to TTC soon. I know so many people who used fertility meds/treatments to get preggo with baby #1 and then they got preggo with baby #2 on their own.

Sue - I can't believe your son is crawling already! L. hasn't figured it out yet and kicks his legs like he's swimming. I'm okay with that though because once he's mobile, I'm going to have a heck of a time keeping all of DS1's little cars and trains out of his mouth!
lcarlson - What a cutie you have! I love his cheeks!! How do you like the Joovy? I wish we could've gone with that, but DS1 is not mature enough to stay put-- he's into doing the opposite of what you tell him (with a rascally smile) and is driving me insane!! I ♥ my Beco. I don't think you can go wrong with it or the Ergo.
Liquids - What and how much are you giving your babies besides milk/formula? L. gets constipated easily and I'm wondering if I need to give him more water. I find that if I feed him more than once/day, he gets constipated, then tries to poop at night (which means he's up a lot in discomfort). I've been trying to give him more of the "P" fruits with the veggies or grains. I feel like I should be feeding him more, but it's a delicate balance.

SO's...
undesigned I hope you had a great time @ storytime! We love it & will continue going!! I still can't believe you have DD in the infant carrier! You must have some very toned arms!
Sippy Cups - I have some & have tried it w/him. We have the soft/hard spout ones w/handles. He does o.k. w/them, but just pushes it away for the most part. He's more into the solids right now & not into the bottles or sippys. He hearts food.
TOMama Wow - Hi-Fiving already!?! I'm impressed! Thanks for your experiences about EI. Good to know that it's helped you/Sons along the way! I know that you've mentioned torticollis here before, but can you give me a refresher? BTW, I hope your Easter lunch turns out great! Have fun w/the Easter egg hunt.
Liquids - I just give him about 2-4 BM mixed in w/his grains for part of his breakfast and then again @ dinnertime & then I just nurse on demand throughtout the rest of the day. I'm finding that's he's less interested in BM these days.
jeanine sorry to hear about the double ear infection. Those are the worst! Wow! Crawling already!!! Have fun childproofing the house! I can't believe Grandpa was giving the grandchild Icecream! Oh my,....
lcarlson G is such a handsome lil' guy! Love his eyes! I cannot believe how fast our little ones are growing! I bet the boys together will be So cute in their Gymbo outfits! Have fun @ Eastertime this year! I'm sure your DS1 will have a blast finding eggs!
Sue Wow! another Crawler...! Have fun w/that! We're nowhere close as of yet! I love our Britax & glad we went w/that carseat. It's such a pain to install in DHs 'cause we need 2 people to install(he doesn't have the Latch system, but I do & love it!) As far as teeth goes, IMO I think the 1st set of teeth were the worst for my DS. His top 2 have broken through & haven't really been a problem thus far.
Easter Baskets - haven't bought one, I don't think I'm gonna buy one. I'm just going to buy DS an outfit or a few toys/books. However, I took him on an egg hunt last wknd.. & he had a pic. w/the Easter bunny. Tonight, we're coloring eggs as a family!
Daisy Have a Great trip!! Have fun shopping too! Do you think your LO needs to go up one size in diapers? Sorry to hear about your baby food accident & the carpet. At least you have a good reason to replace it!
Bloomwood hope the ST'ing is going well again...
Let's hope you're ALL feeling well these days! How's the house remoldeling going?
Waving hello to MrsR Hope J is doing well!

We have DS 9 mos. wbv next Tuesday a.m.. Just this week, DS self-fed himself a barley teething biscuit for the 1st time. Proud momma! I've been trying to work w/him on this & getting him to work on his pincer grip. He just sits there & plays w/the cheerios & puffs. He can grab them, but then doesn't know what to do w/them next!
We've also been working w/ds everynight this week. He's been getting tons of tummytime, but still, no rolling over. I'll be mentioning this to our Ped.. He also loves to stand & everytime we try & get him to sit, he won't. He won't bend his legs/knees.
I took ds to see the easter bunny last wknd. & also took him for an egg hunt too. He was fascinated.
Our Easter plans - we're having my ILs over for brkfst @ 9a tomorrow. I'm making a few quiches & some other things. Unfortunately, dh is working from 12-8p. boo. I'll prob. take ds & we'll go visit my grandparents & then go over to the ILs to see my Dh's rest of the family(they want to see A)!!
I love my Mom, but she's a craigslist addict. We've now inherited a playhouse, a little tykes slide/playhouse & now another thing I'm picking up today w/my FIL. She crazy! Gotta love it though, since we now don't have to spend the $ on toys/outdoor stuff for our DS. ;) That's what grandparents are for, right?!!
I've been thinking a lot about planning his 1st bday...we're looking @ 3 diff. dates, since we're renting an outdoor shelter w/a sprayground park.

I hope everyone had a great Easter wknd.! Good thing there's not a lot of choc. around our household.
Ds made out! He rcv'd an inflatable safety duck tub by Munchkin(he's not sure of it; he's scared of the quack noise-Lol!), FP sit-to-pound Arcade, $, clothes, easter bunny, & diapers.
I went to the Carter's store yesterday & bought him some clothes for his Easter present, since they had most things marked @ 70% off!
We had my ILs over this a.m. & everything went well. My quiche turned out great. Ds went down for his nap & so did I!:p Later in the p.m., we visited my Dad, Dh (he had to work; boo:(), my G'ma & then over at the ILs to see Dh's rest of the family/kids.
Tomorrow, I'm watching our friend's little girl(turns 1 @ end of month). The 2 of them play well together!
.....In other exciting news: my son finally rolled from belly to back today! :D Twice, actually! Such a pround mommy! He rolled over once more earlier this week. We've been working w/him & putting him on his belly more often, than he wants. Now, we just have to get him to roll from back to belly.

Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone had a nice Easter. We had a really fun time in Palm Desert. I did sooooo well at the outlets! I'm jealous of you ladies that get to visit more often. I am definitely going to try to make it down their more (which hopefully won't be hard since DH loves to golf). It was so nice to shop for an entire day without a baby in tow and only buy stuff for myself. :) Some of the deals were amazing! J did fine on the plane, but he didn't sleep despite being exhausted - it was a good thing it was a short flight! Anyway, I feel refreshed from our little getaway in the sun.
J just peed out another diaper this morning (none while we were gone thankfully). The actual diaper seems to fit fine, so I don't know if it's a size thing or not. Maybe I will buy him a size 4 just to see. He's been peeing out the huggies. I have some seventh generation in there, so maybe I'll try those on him for the next couple of days and see.
My club just added a 5 week kindermusik class (since the one we're in ends at the end of the month), so I signed up for that and it'll take us into mid-June.
Also, I think J may be moving into a 2 nap a day schedule. His nap schedule has been really screwey for the last 1-2 weeks and I think this may be what's going on.
JLR - yay for rolling over!!
ToMama - do you not sleep? How do you have time to make those cute little baskets with two kiddos???
Liquid / Formula - I'm not giving J any liquids besides formula - he probably drinks around 20 oz. a day.
Bloom - wow, S is tall!
lcarlson90 - I feel the same way each time I have to retire some of J's clothes. I was especially sad after his first set of clothes were retired. I think he wore those newborn sizes for the first couple of months. I think the next time I go to Costco I will buy the size 4 box and try them out...I just feel like the size 3's fit perfectly though, so I'm having a tough time figuring out what the heck is going on.
Hey ladies -- so sorry I have been MIA -- these days I feel like I am barely keeping it all together -- I am super stressed about my job situation (I am getting laid off any day now) and Jack has been going through some sort of phase where he is not drinking/nursing much so I feel like I am constantly on pins and needles. . .
My SIL was here for Easter -- she came in on Thursday and left today. She is SO WONDERFUL -- she is a speech pathologist and works with kids from 0-3 years old so she is SUPER patient and loves to play with Jack *all* *the* *time* -- she told me Jack is doing well with his speech and he was right on track, so that was at least one less thing for me to worry about.
liquids -- well until last week, Jack was drinking 2 6oz bottles of formula and 1 6 oz bottle of BM at daycare, drinking a 6.5oz bottle of BM before bed and then nursed about 20 mins when he woke up in the morning. On the weekends, it was about the same except instead of the 6oz bottle of BM, Jack nursed for about 30 mins. So I would estimate that he drank about 30oz or so a day. These days he is drinking about 10-12 oz at daycare, drinks about 5 oz of the bottle before bed and only nurses about 10 minutes in the morning (and about 15 mins in the afternoon on weekends) so maybe he is taking in 20oz???
I will BBL for SOs
Here are 2 photos from yesterday (ignore my baby pooch, I think it looks horrible from the picture angle -- I hope I don't look like that . . .)

Length - 28.5" (65%)
H.C. - 18 1/4" (75%)
I spoke w/the DR. re: rolling/crawling & he said he's doing fine! Rolling over is not a developmental delay he said.
I may just have a child that will skip crawling all together & just surprise me by going straight to walking, when least expected! If we put him on all four, he can do it for seconds before doing a face plant into the carpet.

Bloom - Wow! S is a tall little girl.
Tomama - Those little easter baskets you made are adorable. DH was reluctant to buy a double stroller but I convinced him to buy the Joovy and we both really like it. It made sense for us because DS#1 was 3 1/2 years old when G was born. He doesn't actually stay put in the stroller but at least when we are walking a lot he is not asking us to carry him. My DS has very selective hearing too. It must be a boy thing. I just received my Beco yesterday and it's really cute, I can't wait to try it out this weekend.
JLR - That is great news that A rolled over. Sounds like you had a nice Easter and the baby made out with some nice presents. I love the Carters outlet but the closest one is about an hour away. :(
Daisy - I am glad that you had fun in Palm Desert. It's always nice to get away for a little bit. I would try another brand of diapers before you switch to a bigger size. I can't imagine you would need a 4 because I know J is a little peanut.
MrsR - It's nice to hear from you. Sorry about your job situation. I wouldn't worry too much about J not drinking a lot. I remember w/ DS#1 I was always stressed because he would go through bottle strikes, but he is just fine now. They also cut down on liquids a bit when they start eating more solids. I love the pics. Jack is such a little cutie pie.
Liquids - What and how much are you giving your babies besides milk/formula? I tried giving G watered down white grape juice in a sippy but he didn't really want it. I am not sure if it's because it was in a sippy or if he just didn't like the juice. I think I might try giving it to him in a bottle. G usually has 4 - 5 bottles of 5 - 7 ounces a day plus 2 meals.

Hey Ladies,
Ok, so I have used gymbucks a few times before, but I think I'm having mommy-brain and I'm making it more confusing than it is. I have $372 worth of receipts attached to gymbucks, so that means I have $150 gymbucks, right? So do I have to spend $350 or more to get the $150 off? This is going to be hard since I already own everything I like and J has a ton of summer clothes already and there isn't much fall stuff out. blah Plus, a couple of my friends are having babies this fall, but they don't find out what they're having until after gymbuck time...I don't really want to buy the green newborn stuff, but maybe I just will or I'll get that cute box of onesies for them.
I think I'm going to give J some cottage cheese today for the first time. He also suddenly has the sniffles (which I'm sure is due to the old nasty plane we were on last weekend).
MrsR - your pictures are great. Sorry to hear about the job front. A few of my friends have been laid off from their firms as well (we even laid off a newbie), it just blows.
lcarlson - I think you're right, it must be the diaper brand. I did buy a box of size 4 and I'll just store them until J fits into them - they look so huge!
lcarlson90
04-14-2009, 04:47 PM
Daisy - You have to spend $50 to use each Gymbuck. So if you have 6 Gymbucks you have to spend $300 to use all of them. If you don't plan to use them all I think you might be able to sell them on Ebay or I am sure the ladies in the 0 - 12 month sale thread would love them.

lcarlson - thanks, that is what I thought - I'm not going crazy after all. :p Ok, off to pick out a ton of stuff.
We dont' have our WBV until May 1st, but the kid is growing like a weed. He is in 12 months now, so I need to do some shopping so the kid has something to wear! I have 1 gymbuck, but the pants don't fit him right, so I only get tops there.
He's still crawling up a storm, now he crawls after me when I drop him at daycare or even around the house. He pulls himself up on everything and tries to stand up from a sit... I foresee some face plants in his future :) I think his gums are finally feeling better, it wasn't such a fight to get him down last night and he slept through the night! I hope it's the first of many :) He usually gets up 1 or 2 times to eat.
Cups I've been trying to introduce DS to a sippy cup and he just doesn't seem to get it... at first I thought it was because he had to tilt his head back, so I got a cup with a straw, but that didn't seem to work. Anyone have any success?
Lvella43

sippy cups I have been offering a sippy cup with every meal since he started solids. I would say he's only been "getting" it for about 3 weeks or so. We use the Nuby with the soft spout (http://www.diapers.com/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?productid=6755&&cm_mmc=cse-_-googlebase-_-null-_-null&cvsfa=912&cvsfe=2&cvsfp=NY-002).

My great day, ended up being such a bad evening.
I came home last night, walked into my son's room(lights were off & was dark) and as I turned around to turn the lights On, I tripped/fell over the d@mn foot stool. I was holding my son. He was facing me. I went into panic mode. I called dh right away to get home a.s.a.p!!! Ds was screaming. I didn't know right away, if he'd hit his head on the portable stereo Or on the wall, on the way down. He didn't. It all happened so fast. I hurt my self, in the process. When I fell, I guess I kind of braced him.
I didn't know right away, but he was bleeding in his mouth. He'd bit his tongue w/his teeth - prob. on the way down. Poor thing. :( I know accidents happen, but I felt horrible last night & felt like such a bad momma. I suctioned the blood out. I gave him some Tylenol to help w/the discomfort/pain. I didn't let him sleep till 1 hr. later. I wanted to make sure he was o.k. & conscious/responding well.
I checked on him throughout the course of the late evening to make sure he was o.k. & breathing.
Today, he's back to himself, with the exception of his bitemark on the tongue. ...i'M relieved.
My neck is killing me today

JLR - yikes, how scary! I'm so sorry and I'm glad to hear you two are okay (except for your soar neck). Very cute pics too.
Sippy cups - I offered J one about a month or so ago and he wasn't interested. I offered him one again a few days ago and he just took it and started drinking out of it! Go figure, I guess he decided he was ready!
He cut another tooth on the bottom (so now he has three down there) yesterday too. He has been a drooling machine.

Sue - My DS is also in 12 -18 month pants. It's crazy how fast they grow. That is great that your baby is already crawling. I think G will be crawling within the week. I am looking forward to it, but on the other hand I know I will have to start watching him really closely once he is mobile.
Lvella - Thanks for the recommendation on the sippy cup, I picked up a few of those Nuby cups at Target last night.
JLR - A is adorable in the pics you posted. I am sorry about your fall. It's always so scary when something like that happens. I am glad that you and A are doing okay. Please don't feel like you are a bad mamma. Things just happen.

We had a great weekend! It was so warm out this weekend that it felt like summer. Saturday morning we took DS#1 to soccer and I got to wear G in my new Beco Carrier. I love it, next weekend I am going to try the back carry.
Saturday night DH and I went to Flemings Steakhouse for dinner for our 13 year anniversary of our first date. It was so nice to have dinner alone and be able to talk. When we have dinner at home we don't even bother to try and talk to eachother since DS is constantly talking.
Sunday we took the boys to the pool. It was G's first time at the pool and he loved splashing in the water. It was great.
G has been sitting up well for a few months but last week he started pushing himself up to a sitting position from his tummy and he can also spin around while he is sitting up. He is really close to crawling, I am guessing he will be crawling really well within the next two weeks.

Today is my 8 yr. wedding Anniv.!
Nothing spcl. planned. Dh's parents gave us a card w/some cash, so that was very sweet. We're going to try & go out for dinner, but DH's mom won't be able to come over to sit, until about 8p(which is DS bedtime). However, his Dad can come over beforehand, so we'll see... We may just wait til the wknd., so we can go out earlier & enjoy ourselves. DH gets up after 5 am & honestly, I don't think he'd be able to last much much later into the night. Maybe we'll just go out for a drink/dessert for tonight & dinner later.
Where O' Where is the Sunshine?!?! It's cold, wet & dreary outside.
Thanks ladies.
DS is back to himself!:p I can still see the mark in his tongue. I, otoh feel like poopy. Besides coming down with the sniffles/cold, my leg is really bruised, everything is achy and sore ALL over, my neck, arms & shoulders hurt. I feel like I have whiplash. I didn't realize How hard I fell..... I've been taking 800mg. of Ibuprofen & it's not helping all that much. I did use a heating pad last night on my neck & it helped some.
lcarlson sounds like you had a great evening out! We have a Fleming's here in our town, but have yet to go. G is going to be one busy bee crawling around, once he starts!

Sue: Sounds like you have an active little guy! Avery isn't crawling yet, but any day now.....
JLR: Happy Anniversary! And so sorry about your fall :( Your little man is super cute!
Lcarlson: Yum... Flemmings...
All is well with us. Avery is about to crawl any day now :) She is still a good sleeper and goes down about 7:30pm but she is now waking up at 3:30am which sucks. I just stick her in the swing and she falls back asleep until 6:15am and then she is up and ready to go! Oy!! Too early for this mama.
She continues to eat well. She is eating almost all finger food now. I still give her some purees every once in a while but she mostly eats "real" food now. She is down to 2 naps a day- one small one around 9:30am then a big afternoon nap from 1-2:45pmish. She turns 9 months on the 23rd! This is going by way too quickly for me.
Here are some recent pics of my little lady. Sorry if they are big!
Hope you are all well :)

Hi Ladies -
I'm so glad it's Friday and that's is sunny and supposed to be for the next week. :) Not much new with us - J is close to crawling. We've also been doing some finger foods and the sippy (I bought some of those Nuby's too). His 9 month WBV is Monday and I'm really excited to see where he is at. I finally put away all of his 3-6 month clothes a couple of weeks ago and the 6-12 month gymbo clothes fits him perfectly. I got a ridiculous amount of stuff with gymbucks, so this kid is totally set through 12-18 months. Also, our nap schedule is still screwey - some days J will take 2 nice 2+ hr naps, the next will be 3 one hr cat naps. He clearly is moving into a 2 nap a day schedule - I am just ready for a schedule again. Our 3 nap a day schedule worked like clockwork.
Steveim - I made your minestrone soup yesterday (finally) and it is so good! I plan to give some to J today. Your pics are super cute too.
JRL and Lcarlson - happy anniversary! I have no idea when our first date was, sometime is June 1998 I believe.
Ok, time to quit slacking and get ready for the day, have a good weekend everyone!
Jack had his 9 month WBV today and here are his stats:
Height: 31.25 inches (off the charts)
Weight: 22.5 lbs (80th percentile)
Head Circumference: 18.75 inches (95th percentile)
I am happy his head has caught up to the rest of him!!! His doctor said Jack's drop from 95th percentile to 80th in weight is totally normal for breastfed babies, so I am not too worried (and my arms are happy that is slowing down on the weight gain:)).
He did not get any shots, but did get his toe pricked to check his iron level -- he has a bit of an iron deficiency (he was at 10.9 and they want him to be at least 11) but the doctor told me this is something that is also common for breastfed babies. We are going to start giving him an iron supplement a few days a week and try to give him more iron rich foods.
It looks like I am going to have to start putting him in 18 month clothes soon:eek: Maybe I can get away with 12 month shorts, but his 12 month onesies are getting a bit tough to snap. . .
I am hoping Jack is going to start crawling soon -- he is reaching for things really well, but I think his length is getting in the way of the crawling . . . maybe I should be happy that he stays where I put him for now (especially in the mornings when I am trying to get everything ready for daycare. . . )
stevie and JLR -- CUTE pictures!!!
sippy cups -- Jack has been getting a sippy cup at his meals, but I think most of the water ends up down his front:rolleyes:
solids -- Jack is not really into anything other than his cereals and purees -- I have tried puffs but he seems to gag on them and I have tried cutting up turkey meatballs from Trader Joe's -- Jack sucks on the meat until there is no taste but then he spits the food out:rolleyes:. I have mashed a banana and he eats that so-so. . . let's hope that I am not making purees for the kid until he is 10;)

steviem Avery is soooooo adorable!!! I love the cheeks!
MrsR Great wbv; good to see Dylan isn't the only big guy in here :-) I sooo get you on the tired arms thing! My older son Jack would sometimes be given purees when he was as old as 2.5! I did it because he would stop eating veggies so i would puree them and then mix them with applesauce then each time lessen the applesauce to get him used to the veggie flavors again. For us, it worked like a charm!

My baby is crawling!!! We just finished putting the locks on all the cabinets in the kitchen today so it was perfect timing. We had to put new locks on everything because they were all broken thanks to our 4 year old. ;)
JLR - Happy anniversary. I hope you and DH were able to enjoy a nice night out. Sorry you are still feeling like crap. It's amazing how long your body can ache when you fall like that.
Steviem - Avery is such a little doll. G goes through phases where he will wake up every morning at 4:00 am but luckily it usually only lasts about a week or so. I can't believe Avery will still sit in her swing. G doesn't want anything to do with it anymore.
Daisy - It sounds like you got a lot of great stuff at Gymboree. I bought a few things from the new turtle line. I feel your pain on the nap schedule, except that G has always been bad with naps.
MrsR - It's nice to hear from you. Wow it looks like you have one tall little guy. I can't believe that J doesn't like puffs, G practically inhales them. I hope everything is going okay with your work situation.

I've had a really annoying / irritating day. I'm not sure what will make it better but a cold beer.
Anyway, we had Jensen's WBV today and he is still little -
Weight: 18.5 lbs (10-25%)
Height: 27.75" (25-50%)
Head: 17 5/8 (25-50%)
I thought for sure he would weight closer to 20 lbs. The Dr is happy with everything and said an additional 4 teeth will be poking through soon. Jensen also apparently had an ear infection (probably from the nasty Alaska flight we took to CA a couple of weeks ago when J got the sniffles), but that it is probably taking care of itself. Aside from the sniffles, Jensen did not show any signs of having one - no fussing or anything.
MrsR - wow, Jack is so big! Jensen also sometimes "gags" when I give him puffs.

lcarlson yay! - Crawling Uh-Oh!!:p Great timing w/the cabinet locks.
MrsR is Jack on any vitamin drops w/the iron already in it? Wow. He IS a big boy!! Very lengthy!
Daisy hope you have a better day tomorrow. Good to know that the DR. was happy regarding J.
My son already has 4 teeth(2top/2bottom). I just noticed tonight, that he's cutting 2-3 more teeth. fun.fun.
Crazy, but my ds took a 3 1/2 hour nap. I checked on him yesterday because I was worried after 2 1/2 hrs. in, but all was good!
Anyone else here having a problem w/their DC not wanting BM/formula? I'm still BF'ing. He's batting at the sippy/bottle of BM and even when filled w/water or water & juice together. He doesn't want anything to do w/it & all he wants is FOOD!:o
I've been offering a sippy @ every mealtime.
Well, I think I've given up pumping as of Today! Part of it, is because I had to give my pump to my SIL. She's almost 5 wks. PP & is going back to work FT this week! She needs it more than I. I have 100ozs. of BM left in the freezer, so I think it's enough to get me through till the end of June, before we introduce Cows milk.-(hoping he takes it!) Other than that, I just plan on BFing whenever I'm home & not working & *try* get him to take my freezer stash, when I am.
Tomorrow, I'm watching our friend's 1 yr. daughter all day. The kiddies play well together & then I have a playdate w/my other friend's two Identical twin boys, set for Wednesday! They're 3yrs.. They're cute & their names are Kaz & Kasen.-(1/2 japanese)

Just thought I'd pop in for a minute. I am under serious dusty chaos getting settled back into our home. I am so so happy to have S back in her very own crib. I think I mentioned she's been in her pnp and I've been giving her the bottle while sitting on a vanity stool. I was in heaven sitting in my cozy glider the first night. And, we have our black out shades so she's been sleeping better/longer.
I'll chime in on food b/c I had a major accomplishment last night. The whole family at the same dinner at the same time and I didn't have to spoon-feed S while I ate. We had turkey meatloaf, twice-baked potatoes and asparagus. I cut it all up in small pieces and she went to town and I gave her some banana too. Tonight I made one of those Amy's frozen black-eyed pea and brown rice bowls and she gobbled that up as well - I spoon fed her most of that. I am hoping that I can keep feeding her at least the same thing DD1 eats and be done with purees. I need breakfast ideas though - thoughts?

Bloom: Breakfast ideas are hard. We are still doing ceral w/ fruit for the morning. However, I am thinking of trying waffles for Avery (Van's multigrain) w/ some cream cheese on them. Other than that, the only other ideas I have are yogurt w/ fruit or maybe toast (but not toasted very much). Eggs are good but I know we can't give them eggs yet.
JLR: Congrats for lasting this long with pumping! As far as BM or fomula intake, once Avery started on solids, her intake of formula decreased. She gets about 20 - 24 oz per day max.
MrsR: What a big boy you have :D
Lcarlson: Can you believe our babies are crawling! How'd they get old so quickly?
Avery is officially crawling as well. She started towards the end of last week. She isn't too fast yet, and tends to stay in a small area which I like. I am sure that will change quickly though. I have to get the safety gates out and put them back up.. yuck!
I am starting to have MAJOR anxiety for leaving the kiddos when we go to Hawaii in 2 weeks :( I totally don't even want to go now, but we have to for BIL's wedding. I know the kids will be okay with my parents, but I know I will miss them and I worry that DS will miss DH too much (he is super attached.) I think Avery and DH will be just fine....it's me and DS that will be the problems.
I am also starting to have anxiety over the birthday parties! Why-oh-why did I have kids with June/July birthdays? At this point, I am having two parties, exactly 4 weeks apart.... yuck! And the worst part is, the guest list for both parties is identical. I probably should just combine the parties, but I feel bad not giving Avery her very own first birthday. I say every year that I am going to tone down the parties, but then the guest lists grows and grows and all the cute/fun ideas overtake me ;) Because it will be so hot out during both parties, I am thinking of doing late afternoon parties this year (4-7pm). Is that weird? Most parties we go to are early afternoon.... hmmm..... I'll have to think about this some more. Even though I love to cook, we are going the simple route and doing pizza from Costco with green salad, fruit salad, chips/dip, etc. for DS's bday. Has anyone tried the pizza from Costco? Please tell me it's good! For $9.99 for a large pizza, it seems like a great option! I still am undecided on Avery's menu..... am leaning towards more "girlie" food (good sandwiches, chinese chicken salad, etc.) I still have to try making those mini-cupcakes from Bakerella... the whole party theme hinges on those suckers!
Hope you are all having a great day.

Just flying by because my kids are not napping and driving me crazy!!! It'd be nice to have at least 5 minutes of personal time...
Stevie- Costco pizza is good! It's huge so it'll be great for a party. I was going to do L's bday from 4-7 on Saturday, but the place we want is booked so we're stuck with Sunday-- most likely in the AM. I'm still waiting for a call back for confirmation... it's been a couple days since I called and sent an email. I'm so impatient about these things!
Just a quick post....
We decided not to rent the picnic facility for DS/DH's party. Right now $2000 seems well spent other places. I'm kinda bummed, our place is too small to hold a lot of people and I was looking forward to doing something for my DH's 40th and the pool :) I think we might look into a restaurant to have his party, although it would have been nice to be outside at the end of July...
DH bought some summer clothes and guess what size the little chunker is wearing?? 18 months! They fit him perfectly... His WBV is Friday, can't wait to see what he's up to.

I'm holding a sleeping baby... reading along but will do S/O's later when I have 2 hands. Sounds like everyone is busy, busy, busy!
Things have been xtra crazy here. We put in an offer on a short sale a couple of weeks ago and just received a counter from the bank. These things can drag on for months so it's nice that they responded so quickly, but now reality has set in-- are we really ready to move??? It's a good deal (we think) but we still need to do a lot of work (aka more money, inconvenience)... Plus we're not going to sell our current house just yet & will need to convert it into a rental. Decisions, decisions... And I thought planning 2 birthday parties was stressful! :p
Landon's doing well. Not crawling, just lunging, pivoting & rolling like a madman-- usually after big bro's toys. He's super active & is a little heat beacon when I pick him up. We had his WBV a couple of weeks ago & he's slimming down-- 18.5lbs (10-25%) & 28" (50%). Our ped isn't concerned since he still has some chub & loves to eat. He'll probably have a lean body type like DH & DS1.
Oh, and sleep is not so good now either because of teething. He has 2 on bottom, 1 on top, and 3 more coming in.
Hope you're all having a great day!
Good thing we decided to not to go the picnic route... I got laid off today.
Good thing we decided to not to go the picnic route... I got laid off today.
Sue -- I am so sorry -- I know what you are going through -- I have been given a "heads up" that I am about to be laid off too . . .
Thanks... What really sucks is that I had been there for over 2 years, but I took 2 weeks longer than the 16 weeks CT FMLA - so they terminated, then re-hired me when I came back to work. When they did lay offs by tenure, I was low man on the totem pole. I'm more pissed off than anything.

Hello everyone! We went to DD's 9 mo WBV on Monday.
Ht: 29" (92nd)
Wt: 23.2 (97th)
Head: 17.5 (65th)
We have a really big, chubby baby. :) She's still not crawling, probably because she's lugging all that weight. She did pull up by herself earlier this week. She also loves to stand supported. I'm wondering if she'll be one of those babies that skips crawling altogether. She has two new top front teeth so that makes it four altogether with her two bottom ones.
Solids: We've been admittedly very slow about moving beyond purees. Ped made us realize that she should be eating a lot more solids and less milk. We also need to start giving DD more protein and starting meats. It's hard to come up with interesting meal ideas. DD loves puffs but she hasn't figured how to feed herself yet.
Sippy: DH bought an Avent but she hasn't really taken to it yet. We'll just have to keep trying.
Sue/MrsR: So sorry to hear about the job situation.
ToMama: Good luck with the house purchase!
StevieM/lcarlson: Yay for crawling!
Bloom: I'm so impressed by the foods you're feeding S.
Daisy: Hope J's feeling better.
JLR: It's taking a lot longer for DD to finish up her bottles, not sure if she's not hungry or simply distracted.

Hi Ladies,
I'm a little stressed right now - my nanny has the flu and I have an incredible amount of work to get done this morning. I hate working while J is awake, it makes me feel bad. Because of all this work, I couldn't get to sleep last night and I just kept thinking about quitting my job altogether (which I do realize is stupid), argh. So yes, I'm taking a CC break.
I started giving J yobaby yogurt/fruit/cereal and he really likes it. I've been giving him meat for probably over a month now too and he does fine with all of it.
ToMama - wow, that is nuts, but exciting at the same time. Why do I think you guys moved last summer as well?
Undersigned - she is a big baby! It can take J a really long time to finish a bottle too, it's like he needs frequent breaks or he gets distracted.
Sue - yikes, I am so sorry. :(
MrsR - that blows, did they give you any info on the timing?

I am so stressed out about my baby. This is the third day that he has been refusing a bottle. He has been waking at about 4:00 am and he will take a 6 oz bottle but the rest of the day I am lucky if I can get him to take anything. I think he is averaging 10 - 13 oz. each day. I wouldn't be that concerned except that he will not drink water or juice from a sippy cup. I am just worried that he is going to get dehydrated. I am pretty sure it's because of teething, since he isn't showing signs of illness.
_______________________________________
Daisy - I am impressed that you are able to get work done at home when J is awake. G wants me to hold him all the time, which makes it really hard to get anything accomplished.
JLR - That is so impressive that you have kept up with BF. It looks like you will definitely make that 1 year mark.
Bloom - That is great that you were able to get S to eat turkey meatloaf. I really need to start giving G more table food. For some reason I am nervous about giving him meat. You must be so excited to be back in your home. How did everything go with the renovations?
undesigned - Don't feel to bad about not trying new foods. We have been really slow with the solids too.
MrsR - I am sorry that you got laid off. It's such a hard time, I know so many people who have been laid off.
Stevie - I was just thinking that we had to put our baby-gates back up too. I have to tell you that I am a little jealous that you are going to Hawaii. I am having some serious vacation-lust right now. I find myself looking at travelzoo all day at work.
I could have written your post about birthday parties. Every year I tell my DH that I am going to keep things reasonable, but I always feel like I have to impress everyone. I love planning the parties and finding all the cute ideas but then when party time comes around I always regret it. I am also considering doing a late afternoon party because of the heat. I love Bakerella's blog and I wish I had a little girl so I could make the cupcake pops.
ToMama - Did they accept your offer on the short sale. I have a friend who just purchased a bank-owned condo and she complained that the bank was so slow, she ended up being in escrow a lot longer than she planned.
Sue - I am sorry about your job, that just stinks. :( I think it sucks that they didn't let you keep your seniority when you returned back from maternity leave. Is there any way you can fight this?
TOMama
05-02-2009, 12:45 AM
I'm going to attempt S/O's...
Sue - I'm so sorry, that sucks. I agree with lcarlson, losing seniority over what seems like a technicality doesn't sound right.
Lcarlson - Oh, I hate bottle strikes! Have you tried a straw cup or having him sip from a regular cup? L. plays with his sippy but I find that he actually drinks with the straw cup. G sounds very similar to L. with the wanting to be held all day-- I struggle to get even mundane stuff done during the day. Re: the house-- We put in our best and final offer to the bank's counter offer and haven't heard back yet... hopefully by next week. Such a weird process!
MrsR - I'm so sorry about the job. Big hugs!!!
Daisy - No, we didn't move last summer-- I'm not THAT crazy! :D But we were looking when I was in my 3rd trimester. With this real estate market & economy, I'm sure glad we didn't find anything then.
stevie - I'm also having "party" anxiety. So many cute ideas, but now I'm overwhelmed. DS1's bday is in a couple weeks and I'm just getting started.
I didn't get very far, must go to sleep!

lacarlson aww, thanks ;) It's been a looong process...
FYI, I'm currently going through the same thing as you are w/your DS. My sitters have tried getting my ds to even take 5 ozs. of BM & he won't. He's also boycotting water/juice and Or BM in the sippy(even from me). Seems as though he ONLY wants to BF. I even offer it at every meal & this is what we get. My only sol'n right now, is to just give him grain cereal w/BM in it, so at least I know he's getting something when I'm not with him. Any suggestions?
bbl
Thanks ladies -- it truly does suck -- I am a finance attorney so it looks like there is no way I am finding a job anytime soon.
Daisy -- this was my second firm -- it had a much longer partnership track (12 years or so was usually the earliest they made people partner) so I would probably have probably made partner if I was somewhere else awhile ago (since I am a '99 grad) . . .
JLR and lcarlson -- so sorry you are going through this right now -- DS went through the same drinking strike a few weeks ago, but after about a week he got back on track.
I finally stopped pumping the evening bottle last Sunday:p -- I have enough frozen BM plus the "extra" I have been pumping during the 2:00 pumping session during the week to get me through another week or so until he will need to take formula for that bottle. I decided to stop pumping that session because it was becoming a huge PITA and my output was not even enough for the bottle he took at night . . . it has been really weird to say the least.
Our current issue is naps -- at daycare, DS usually only takes 1 nap -- depending on the day he either refuses to take a morning nap or an afternoon nap -- at home I can usually get him to take 2 good naps each day but yesterday he refused to take a morning nap and last sunday he refused his afternoon nap -- it is very frustrating since he is so tired at night when he only takes one nap -- fingers crossed he takes both today. Daycare has said they will be transitioning all of the kiddos to 1 nap as they approach 1 year old -- seems a bit soon to me, but I guess they know what they are doing . . .

Sue and MrsR - I am so sorry for what you are going through right now :(
JLR - is A back on the bottle yet?
TOmama - good luck with the purchase!! It is definitely the time to buy RE if you have the means.
Lcarlson - hmmm...has he taken the bottle again yet? I guess if he has we diapers he is okay. The fruit purees have water in them, so maybe you can push those a while?
S doesn't take a bottle if she's filled up on her meal too much, but she drinks water during meals. I think I should probably give her formula during meals so she is getting the nutrients.
Yesterday, she shared my chicken and veggie green chili enchiladas!! I made them, including the sauce, so I knew they were "ok." She also chowed on breakfast sausage when we were out. Today she devoured pancakes for breakfast. I really hope I can keep giving her this variety of food and she'll keep eating it. It was such a PITA when DD1 turned picky. I am slowly using up my purees and so excited to be through them.
Stevie/breakfast food - funny you mentioned the waffles as I had just picked some up that day along with the cream cheese. That was a breakfast staple with #1 for quite a while. I am going to try giving her the oatmeal that we eat too with some yogurt mixed in. Should be ok.
Now that we are home (I'll post pics soon) S is sleeping so well in her crib/blackout shades/temperate room. She is a master crawler and can pull up on things in a blink. She hasn't figured out how to cruise though and gets frustrated when she is standing and can't get down or move.

Hi Ladies,
We're finally starting our kitchen floor reno today (thanks to a water leak over a year ago). I feel so out of commission - my appliances are already sitting in my living room and nothing is going to get put back until Wednesday, blah. I can't wait until it's all done!
So DH had J all day yesterday alone since my GF had her annual yard sale (we have a lot of fun with it). Anyway, DH and J stopped by on their walk and DH says to me, "yeah, I don't need to watch J when he stands anymore, he's so stable." WTF, um, yes you do, he can and will still fall! Good lord.
No new milestones for us - J isn't too interested in self-feeding and he's hit and miss with the sippy. I think we're really close to crawling though.
Bloom - can't wait to see your reno pics! How exciting, are you happy with everything?
MrsR - 12 years does seem like a long time, I feel like a lot of firms around here are more like 7 years? My firm doesn't have a partnership track, so I guess I have no idea. It's a good and bad thing...but I always assumed I would end up in-house anyway. I'm so sorry, any thoughts on your next move?
ToMama - ah, that is what I must have been thinking of! Is the new house close to where you're at now?
lcarlson - working from home has been really overwhelming lately, I realize it's the ebb and flow, but I also know that this will eventually come to an end. I have a huge case of mommy-brain lately and just don't feel like I'm giving it my all when work is on my mind. I forget, do you work full time?
Stevie - I forgot you're going to Hawaii! When do you leave? I wish I was going.
JLR - feeding getting any better? J seems to take less bottle when he fills up on food.

We took G for his 9 month WBV yesterday, but it actually turned into a sick baby visit. My little guy has been running a 101 fever since Sunday morning. The doctor thinks that he has been refusing the bottle for the last week because he was not feeling well, not because of teething like I had thought. They didn't give him his shots because he is sick. Here are his stats.
Weight - 20.2 pounds
Height - 29 3/4 inches
Head - 17.5 inches

Daisy feeding ds is much better(solids). I'm still at a battle w/the BM(but not with BF'ing). BTW, I hope your kitch. reno. goes smoothly!...& back in commission soon!
bloomwood I had leftover thawed BM from my sitter Mon., so I gave DS the rest of it that night. I was getting ready to give it to him & he took it right out of my hands & started chugging away! teehee I usually BF @ night and don't give him a bottle. Wow. Sounds like miss S, is njoying trying new foods & liking them too! Is she getting close to walking?
MrsR yay on not having to pump that last bottle! Hope J's naptimes are adjusting well. When are his 2 naps, usually?
I babysat our friend's 1 yrs. old daughter on Sunday, I had her all day today & I will have her the majority of the day tomorrow.
Ive had no down time for anything. Since I don't have a double stroller, I'm kind of stuck in the house. When one napping, the other one is up.
it's too funny to see them interact w/one another. (esp; w/toys!)
omg, I'm so tired.
I'm in birthday planning mode. I've been looking at Etsy & getting some ideas. I'm making my own bday banner. whimzycreations has some great banners! also, for those that are doing a circus theme, PolkaDotsandPirates has an unbelievable 'circus' theme!

Oh no Lcarlson! I hope G feels better soon :(
Lvella: How cute is your little man? Geesh.... adorable!
JLR: LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the banner! How'd you do it? Is that scrapbook paper? I want to make one for Avery too :)
Daisy: I hope the kitchen floor turned out exactly like you wanted :)
Well, we had Avery's 9 month WBV yesterday. Everything went well. I have a big lady on my hands!
Height: 30" (Off the charts)
Weight: 21.6 lbs (75%)
Other than that, I am continuing to get organized for Hawaii. And ladies, I am not joking when I say this mini-vacay is going to suck big time..... seriously. We are going for BIL's wedding. Both DH and I are in the bridal party. We get in on Wednesday evening and fly out on Sunday morning, the day after the wedding. The bride and groom have us busy the ENTIRE time (tuxedo rental, bridal shower, rehearsal, golf for the boys, helping bride with favors, etc.) so I literally have a few free hours on Friday to enjoy Hawaii (the beach, pool, etc.). And, DH won't even be able to hang out by the pool with me since he will be golfing. And to top it off, the bridesmaid dress is HIDEOUS.... like serioulsy gross. I realize we could have stayed longer after the wedding, but truth be told, I am having a really hard time leaving the kiddos behind and I want to get home ASAP. I am having major anxiety with leaving the kids.... from the packing for them to go to my parents house to the thought of DS freaking out when we leave..... I think I need to drink a bottle of wine the day we leave just to get through the day.
Anyway, I hope you all have a great day :) I am actually going to a nice lunch with my old work friends. My good friend offered to watch my kids so I don't have to take them with me :) Yippee!! (See, I totally don't mind leaving them for a few hours for things like a nice lunch, mani/pedi, etc., but the idea of leaving them for several days freaks me out!!)

Hi Ladies,
Since I've been house bound this week with the floor work being done, I've had plenty of time to do some 1st birthday party planning/research. I think I'm going to go with this theme: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=24516783. I found some party blogs that have given me some other ideas to add to it too. I kinda feel a little better now that I've picked a scheme.
QOTD - anyone have special plans for mother's day? DH surprised me with a weekend in Friday Harbor (in the San Juan islands) at this hotel I've been wanting to visit for a couple of years now. J is going too of course. It'll be a nice little weekend getaway, we'll leave sometime in the afternoon tomorrow.
lcarlson - I hope everything is ok, that is scary.
JLR - wow, you are crafty! Now I feel the need to make something for J's birthday! Also, I don't have a LJ.
steveim - I second what lvella said, post pics of the dress! :) Hopefully the few minutes of R&R you get in the sun on the beach will revive you. Avery is so tall!
lvella - cute pic! I need to get better at posting pics.
Daisy, I didn't even think to check etsy for birthday stuff... I think I'm in trouble! Do you mind sharing the party blogs?
Mother's Day as far as I know, DH doesn't have anything planned. He's actually working that day. AND I had to remind him that Mother's Day was this weekend...

Sue - of course! I've been online for almost 2 hours this evening looking at stuff...I have this huge urge to go to Michael's right now. :p So here are the sites/blogs I've saved to my favorites.

Daisy - I follow those same blogs... plus tons more :o. I'm addicted now that I've discovered Google Reader and have them all categorized & saved there. Cute theme, Tomkat has some really cute stuff.
QOTD - I have no idea... my dream is to sleep in-- but that's probably just a dream ;). My inlaws are in Vegas & my parents are coming up on Monday, so it should be fairly low key & simple.
Sue - Er, Men!
Lcarlson - How's baby G? Poor little guy, and poor mama!
stevie - I'd be stressed leaving the kids for that long too. Plus being put to work on top of that would put a fork in the whole "destination" wedding experience. And bad dress too??
Oh man, crying toddler... gotta run!

JLR - As I mentioned on the Birthday thread-- LOVE the banner! And how did you get it done watching 2 kiddos?? Hope you're feeling better. I had really bad allergies too. Our spring seems kind of short this year. I'm bummed that it's starting to feel like summer already-- I'm NOT a heat person.
Lvella - What a cutie you have there (actually 2 cuties)! He looks like a big boy with that hat and riding the car.
Bloom - You must be so happy to be back home. Looking forward to pics of your reno.
Food- Aside from some fruit purees, L is eating "people" food. He's definitely a foodie-- When I'm cooking he yells and pounds on his highchair table in excitement. Tonight he had turkey spaghetti w/shredded carrots & spinach "snuck in". I'm so relieved since DS1 was and still is a picky eater (he just recently started eating meat sauce ). Preparing food for him still stresses me out!
Birthday Party - I'm in full circus party mode. I really like the circus themed decor from polkadots & pirates and just ordered the "ringleader" onsie (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=24359428) from persnicketyme that coordinates with the theme. Also booked the entertainment today. Now I guess I'm stuck with the circus theme! :)
We found out this morning that the bank rejected our "best & final" offer and said they're moving on to the next bidder. The funny part is that the other bidder put in a lowball offer 2 months ago (we're not supposed to know that but our agent is friends with the selling agent). Uh, what makes the bank think they're willing to come up 300K?? The problem is that the house appraised too high because they didn't take into consideration that the other comps were highly upgraded. DH and I are okay with it. With all the upgrades that need to be done (backyard, kitchen, flooring, window treatment... basically all the big stuff) there's no way it's worth a cent more. So we'll see... interesting process!

ToMamaThanks! my kiddo doesn't move & my friend's daughter is a good kiddo & plays on her & sometimes stands near me. I just did - like they say, get 'er done! I had already had most of my circles traced, so it was a start! My allergies have been killing me! Haven't been able to wear my lenses for weeks now. Too funny about your son 'yelling' for food! Same here w/the bday planning - I don't know if you caught it, but I mentioned PolkaDots & Pirates - don't you just love their 'circus' line theme?! Excellente!! Bummer about the offer. Maybe the next one will work out.
Sue Esty has THE cutest stuff there & great bday ideas too!
Daisy yay for finding a theme for the bday! I've been saving my Jo-Ann coupons(for bday planning) & I also need to go to Michael's. That's sweet of your dh to surprise you for 1st Mother's Day!! Have a great time w/the family. You need to get a LJ acct.!
lacarlson BIG Hugs to G. sorry he's feeling miserable & I'm sure you are too. having a sick child is no fun. Hope he gets well soon!
lvella thanks for the banner comps.! ;) the littlest things that excite me.... So, the ride on toy that D is sitting on, can he push with his legs? My mom bought a used one for A, however he just sits there.
steviem thanks!! yes, it is premium scrapbook paper stack that I bought. I'll post what it came out in my next post, so you'll have an idea. yeah, you should make one for A!!
Wow, she's very tall! Sounds like a healthy baby girl!!
I hope you had a great lunch out w/your ol' friends & that's awesome how you had a sitter for that too!
sorry to hear about your upcoming trip to Hawaii & how you won't have hardly anytime for yourself Or w/dh. Hopefully, you can squeeze some time in! When I went to Hawaii a little over 2 yrs. ago for a relative's wedding, I flew out of a Fri. and came back home Mon. - talk about NO time, but we made it worthwhile & had a blast! I flew out w/my cous' & dad and quite a few other relatives flew out there as well. Sadly enough, Dh didn't go & had jury duty haha! At least you'll have the warm, bright sun-shiney sun to put a smile on your face! Enjoy it while you're there!!

for those that were asking -
I free-handed the letters & cut them out myself, using decorating/pinking scissors. Those took the longest. I had used bowls at home & traced my circles. ;) I used decorative scissors to cut them out w/a diff. edge. I got my ideas from etsy seller, whimzycreations I just googled birthday banner on the etsy site or your could google birthday decorations too.
Here are just a few sheets that are inside this Premium scrapbook stack They're really nice heavy duty cardstock

http://i537.photobucket.com/albums/ff334/jlrenheos/1st%20Birthday%20-%20%20July%202009/586aa1b7.jpg
I used this for the circles that I cut out - this is my inspiration(since my DS's wall has safari animals). I saw this @ Jo-Ann Fabric & had to have it. I Loved the colors! They had them on $ale last week from $19.99 down to $9.99 for 48 sheets of printed/glitter premium paper! They also have coupons.
http://i537.photobucket.com/albums/ff334/jlrenheos/1st%20Birthday%20-%20%20July%202009/319ed53d.jpg
I used this for my Alphabet cut-outs. I'm also going to do a 12 mos. photo theme & will use the remainder of these for the backdrops against his photos-

Jo-Ann fabric, had all differnt kinds of 'themes' of the scrapbook stacks-check it out online
TOMama Sorry about the house, but in this market, something else will come up. Cute birthday theme!
Lcarlson Hope he's feeling better!
Daisy Thanks for the links! I need to get my butt in gear and pick a theme... I just haven't found anything that has really caught my eye. Girl parties are so much cuter it seems!
JLR Awesome banner!
Steviem It sucks that the dress is hideous and that you can't enjoy any of your time in HI. I understand wanting to get home to the kids.
Bloom Can't wait to see pictures!
Food DS is hit or miss with food. He loves to pick things up and put them in his mouth, but sometimes he chews, sometimes he doesn't! Which makes me a little hesitant to give him anything too big or that requires to much chewing. Any suggestions for what I can give him that he won't choke on? I've given him fruit in his mesh feeder and he likes that, but I'm a bit clueless on how to start giving him more people food.
It won't be long till DS takes his first steps... he loves to let go and stand on his own and he's getting very good at it. His balance is really improving. He's crawling like a maniac and still pulling up on everything and cruising.

Hi ladies! :) Hope everyone is enjoying their wk.
DS - hasn't rolled since the wk. of Easter. He loves to stand w/our help. He can kind of scoot or get what he wants by sitting & manuevering himself(side to side/turning himself around on the floor)*if* he wants it bad enough! Showing a lot more interest in moving. He had a horrible diaper rash last week & I think it was due to more teeth coming in w/2 more on top - 4 top/2bottom.
He says mama a lot & sometimes dada, makes the sounds of a cow, says, "uck" for "up", and kind of says "hugs". He does the generic "bye-bye" wave sometimes. I say & teach him words as I'm doing things. He plays well on his own, but also loves the Disney network. Have I mentioned, that he's a screamer & loves making tons of sounds - he just lights up when he goes bye-bye & sees kids. Quite the chatterbox!! He LOVES kids! I love his personality!
Mother's Day - went to DH's parents in the a.m. & visited for awhile. The 3 of us came home, dh finished up yardwork & DS/I took a nice nap! The rest of the day we spent going to Jo-Ann fabric to buy a craft stepping stone to make w/my DS, the park, getting Graeter's & getting carry-out for dinner. It was nice. Nothing extravaggant.
Dh has some family in town from Cool, Calf. visiting. They're coming by tomorrow evening to visit us, see the house & DS. My Mom/family are coming in for the wknd. & will be staying w/us. DH/I are going to try and have a date night out then! I'm taking DS for his '10' mo. pics. Friday afternoon. I'm hoping to buy a swimsuit this wknd.(for our Fla. trip!). I found 2 of them @ Target that I like. Besides my DH's OP, now I must get my Mom's too!
I finished DS Birthday Banner! I hooked them together using gold brackets/fasteners. They worked out well! Now I just need to get string for the ends of it.
eta -lvella boys are cute! That is not a bad pic. of you! Sounds like your DH had a nice Mother's Day planned out for you(besides going to the ILs)

Hi Ladies,
How is it only Wednesday??? Hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day, we had a lot of fun in Friday Harbor - we had great weather, our hotel was great and all the restaurants we went to were good. Plus we hit a couple of wineries - also good. :)
Kitchen floors are done too! They finished Monday...what a freaking mess they made of my house. Any temptation I had to get new carpet is gone, I can't live with workers in here and I have no desire to pack up all my stuff. So I got the carpet prof cleaned yesterday. :p Anyway we had 13x20" taupe ceramic tile installed (staggered) and it's heated and I am so loving it.
One of J's top teeth broke through yesterday and I think the other one will poke through any day now (he now has 4). He's also a chatterbox and I'm starting to sign with him. He's not signing back, but I think he's starting to understand what they mean (kinda like when I reach to pick him up and he puts his arms up so I can get him). He's not crawling on all fours yet, but he somehow can make his way around a room.
JLR inspired me to make a birthday banner and I finished it yesterday. :) I'm still doing a cupcake/dot theme. I'm also going to make those cupcake toppers.
lvella - those are great pics!
ToMama - sorry to hear about the house. Any other contenders?
Sue - I agree, I think I would have a much easier time picking a theme if it were for a girl. I was in JoAnns and Michaels for hours the other day picking out paper for my banner.
JLR - are you on LJ? The few times I've gone to check it out, it seemed kinda of archaic (sp?).
Just a quick post, I finally ordered the decorations for Ryan's party... I knew it was dangerous looking on etsy :) http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=20264674
I'm going to do either M&M's or jelly beans, decorated cookies and cupcakes for the favors. We got useless crap from my niece's 1st bday party - stickers, a straw, bubbles - what the heck is a 9 month old or his parents going to do with that stuff? I figure you can't go wrong with something edible.

I'm enjoying myself a Mega bottle of Rieseling....ahhh....
Sue yes, through my research on etsy, I found piratesandpolkadots - Awesome estsy seller! I love their ideas & will use some of them to incorporate them for my DS 1st bday. I'm glad you found something you liked!! I totally Love the idea of the M&Ms theme. We have friends that did their gender neutral nursery in primary colors using the M&Ms theme - it was Super cute! Ditto on the edible stuff.
Daisy glad to hear your kit. floor reno. is complete! I'm sure you're glad to have a kit. back in working order! Can you send your prof. carpet cleaner my way? - we desperately need to have ours done.
How'd your banner turn out? - Pics.? Jo-Ann's had their scrapbook premium papers on sale again this wk.! There's SO much to look at!
Yes! I am on LJ. I have a diff. screen name over there, so if you sign up, I'll PM you my screen name! It's so much easier to post pics. there, rather than using PB.
lcarlson have fun making his banner! I'm sure it'll turn out great!

Keeping it short because I'm tired. Both kids not napping much is killing me! I'm not a nice person to be around come 4 PM...
I'm also making a banner-- see what you've done JLR! :) I got a cricut for Mother's Day (hurray!) and am putting it to good use. I just need to string the banner together. I think I'm going to punch holes using a 2-hole punch and pull tulle ribbon through since it's easy to manipulate. I'm also making a flag garland & pinwheels using extra scrapbook paper-- so far I've cut out 300 triangles which should get me around 150 feet of garland to string around the pavilion... or maybe in the trees. And I've made 20 12-inch pinwheels to stake in the lawn. My DH hasn't said anything, but I know he thinks I'm crazy!
JLR - Enjoy that Riesling!
Lcarlson - I hope you and little G are doing well.
Sue - I'm with you on the crappy favors. Edible is much better-- I think I'm doing kettlecorn.
Daisy - Sounds like you had an awesome Mother's Day! Yay on the kitchen floors being done. You must be so happy to have that behind you & the contractors out of your house.
lvella - Cute pics!

ToMama Holy shiite! Wow - 300 triangles! What size are your circles for your pinwheels? How are you making them? I thought about making them, but don't know how to go about it. My DS is fascinated by a pinwheel.
I used brackets/fasteners to attach together all of my circles(I think they're at least 9" in diameter) & it worked out great!
In fact, you can find colored brackets & also funky designs to use rather than the plain silver/gold. What I like about using them, is that I can easily fold, if you will & put away. I'm afraid using the string would rip the holes.
I'm thinking about having them laminated.
Anyone else here watch Grey's Anatomy? Oh my....what a tearjerker! I can't wait till next year. Who do you think is leaving??
sue -- I love that seller too but now she isn't shipping until August so that won't work (obviously):(
lvella -- love the pics too -- I think the crying ones are much cuter;)
JLR -- ahhh, love wine -- I tivo'd grey's so I am going to watch it this weekend. . .
TOMama and lcarlson -- wow, making your own banners -- you guys are so crafty -- even though I am now a stay at home mom without a kiddo for a few months, I am not even going to try to make anything for Jack's birthday since art is not my strong suit. . .
So, in our news, Jack started crawling on Tuesday:D He had been getting close for a few days (up on all fours, rocking and then falling on his tummy when he tried to move forward) but when I went to pick him up from daycare on Tuesday they said he had been doing it all day!!!!! I guess baby proofing is now on my to do list next week.
I bought this for Jack to wear for his monkey themed first birthday party:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25010301
now I just need to figure out decorations -- one woman on etsy had decorations that were the same monkey, but I wan't a huge fan of the banner she did. . . what I think I want is just a big banner, a highchair banner and then maybe balloons and plates (so it is not too matchy-matchy . . .) I guess I will check out oriental trading and party city. . .
MrsR I know... I got the last spot before her vacation. I would have tried to do stuff myself, since I'm out of work and have the time  , but I just don't have the patience or creativity to do it. I saw this sellers monkey party, maybe you'd like her banners? http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7172340 Yay for crawling! Ryan is into everything, his latest is standing on his own... He hasn't tried to take a step yet, but I don't think it's too far off. I need to pick him up a walking toy, he likes to stand behind our step stool and push that around.
lvella I love the pics too. DH forgot to take any pics of my first Mom's Day... guess we'll skip over that in the scrapbook :p
I think I'm going to get the matching t-shirt or bib also... http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25006469 someone needs to stop me....

Happy Friday :)
Sorry I didn't update on how my little man is doing. After 5 straight days of a fever I took Gavin to the doctor last Thursday morning. After spending 2 hours they basically said that he had a virus and that I would just have to wait it out. I was pretty surprised that he didn't have an ear infection. I think Dylan had at least 4 ear infections before his first birthday and Gavin has yet to have one. Wouldn't you know that same day that I took him to the doctor his fever went away for good. He still has a cough and is still not drinking his bottle great but at least he doesn't have a fever. This week he passed his germs to Mommy and Daddy.
It's so much fun to hear what everyone is doing for their little ones parties. My current dilema is the invitations. I am trying to decide whether I should buy custom invitations with G's picture on them or just buy cute circus invites without his picture.

lcarlson - I hear you, I have found several cute ones that don't have the picture on them...that being said, I know many family members will want the picture (and ask for one), so I think I'm going to get ones with the picture. Glad to hear that Gavin's fever went away - sorry he passed it on though!
ToMama - wow! Please do share how you made your pinwheels and post some pics!
JLR - I got everything at JoAnns on sale. :) Even the fancy punches for the cupcake toppers. Yes, I watched Grey's - I wouldn't be surprised if George and Izzie don't come back (given the rumors). It's been interesting to watch Izzie's story line since this is what FIL died of last Dec. IL2 is seriously hard core chemo - as in, you're in the hospital for a couple of weeks each time because it makes you so sick.
MrsR - I really like the monkey theme. Polkadotandpirates did a super cute monkey theme in her blog, too bad she isn't selling it right now.
Sue - I almost bought that same party! Love it, love the colors, but I was a little worried about the ship date/timing.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend. We're headed to my moms later this afternoon for the weekend - it's supposed to be super warm there so I am looking forward to the heat. :)
Happy Crafting! :p

MrsRyay for J crawling! You'll have to be more on your toes now! Luv the shirt you found on etsy! Have fun finding a banner for J! Have a box of tissues ready when watching Grey's. I fell asleep watching the 1st half, then woke up after 1a & watched the rest of the show. Let's just say it was a Jaw-dropper finale!!!
Sue like the etsy seller you posted! My next project, is to make some cupcake toppers myself, since I have left over paper! Now I just have to go buy some tiny wooden dowel rods.
heehee Etsy is addicting! ;) I have found so much on there that I like.
lcarlson good to hear from you. Aww, glad he's feeling better, but sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather. Tough decision on Bday invites. I haven't put much thought into that yet, however, I may make my own. We'll see and that's *if* I get really adventurous.... I think either one would be fine Or you could just take a really cute Candid photo of G @ home or wherever & have him holding a sign saying something like, "Come to my 1st Birthday!" or etc; etc......
Daisy sorry to hear that's what your FIL passed away from. just horrible. Jo-Ann's - glad the store could be of your service!!!!:p;) Have fun @ your Mom's!

So, I've been reading along feeling all smug because DD1's birthday was a success and Iw as done while you all were still planning. Uh, hello??? What about DD2??!!! I need to get on it.
I decided not to do the luau theme I was thinking of before, but a more "sophisticated" party since we're inviting mostly our adult friends. I think I'll dig through my 2 boxes of stuff from DD1's first two parties to see if it inspires me. I think I'll do a champagne bar that I read about somewhere on here (by sivalleysteph, I believe).
The circus theme was a huge success and so much fun to throw. I have a GIANT box of stuff left from it that I am going to keep to do one for DD2 someday.

Hi ladies,
Well, I technically should be en route from Hawaii to LAX right now, but that isn't the case. We had some really bad news last week....... my dad passed away on Wednesday 5/13 of a massive heart attack. I am still in shock and disbelief........it is so painful and I cannot even believe that this is real and has actually happened. My dad was only 60- way too young to die.
DH and I left for Hawaii on the morning of 5/13. My mom was at my house watching the kids. I was already a nervous wreck leaving the kids behind and I called my mom a million times before our flight and when we landed in Honolulu to check-in. She said everything was perfect. I just started to relax and was so looking forward to checking into our hotel and getting a drink by the pool.
About an hour after we landed, we were driving to the hotel and my mom called with the bad news. She had spoken with my dad in the morning, but didn't hear from him for the rest of the day. She got worried, so had a neighbor go and check on him. The neighbor found him at his desk/computer in their office. It is so tragic and sad.... I just want this feeling to go away.
My mom was in a panic... she was at my house which is 2 hrs away from her house with my kids. I immediately called my BFF to go and be with my mom. DH and I turned our rental car around, called BIL and said we had to leave and that we couldn't be at the wedding (DH was the bestman and I was a bridesmaid). We got the redeye flight to LAX. We arrived back at LAX at 5:30am on Thursday and drove home to my house to get my mom and kids and head up to Ventura to their house. We've been here ever since making all the funeral arrangements, etc.
Ladies, this is the hardes thing that has ever happened to me. It is so unbelievably sad and even worse is seeing my mom so upset. She lost the love of her life.... married for 39 yrs. It's bad enough loosing my parent, I cannot even imagine the pain she is feeling for loosing her husband.
Anyway, sorry for the depressing email. I just cannot believe this happened.
The ONLY good thing that came out of all of this is that I didn't have to actually wear the evil/ugly bridesmaid dress! Ha!

We've been busy finalizing all of the funeral arrangments these past few days. I like being busy- helps to keep my mind off the sadness. Thankfully, my kiddos have been so well behaved..... I think they know (especially my DS) that mamma can't handle anymore craziness so they are both being on their best behavior.
Can't wait for this to all be over so I can focus on fun stuff like planning birthday parties. BTW JLR, I found some really cute scrapbook paper at Joann's and intend to make a banner too :)
Thanks again for your kind words.

I hope you and your family are getting the support you need during this tough time. Thinking of you~
Great Birthday party Bloomwood! Cute ideas ;) Glad it was a success!! Did the kids like their party favors?
Fantastic kit./living rm. Reno.! Wow!! Hope you're enjoying it!!
I'm working FT this week, so I haven't had much downtime to make other things/prepare for DS 1st bday(44 days left to go!).
The most recent thing that I bought are brightly colored napkins. I think I bought 6 diff. colors. :p
We did finalize our date for the bday party - Sunday, July 12 at a really neat clubhouse w/inground pool access! WE're expecting 40+ppl.! I really wanted to have it on a Sat., but it just wasn't going to work out.
My MIL said that my DS rolled from his back to belly today! However, I don't believe it, till I see it. He's getting really interested in wanting to crawl. I can tell that he wants to & that he gets frustrated just thinking about it. I think it's gonna happen soon though. However, he gets around fine for now, by scooting aound everywhere! I don't know if you have lowered your crib yet, but we did over the wknd.. - I suppose I have a late bloomer here. My DS recieved an early bday present from my Mom....a Radio Flyer Wagon(has belts & the backrest). He LOVES it!! We've been taking him walks everyday in it!

I can't remember if I mentioned this already, but the girl who watches Gavin is pregnant and due in late September. My Mom currently watches Gavin on Monday's and I just assumed that she would watch him full time for the 8 weeks until the girl who watches him is back from Maternity leave. I just talked to my Mom and she said that she thinks she could do two days a week. She has fibromyalgia so I know it's physically difficult for her to take care of the kids. Ugh...now I am totally stressing about what I am going to do about child care for two months. I hate this part.

Bday Plans You guys are on top of it!! I am keeping it simple and actually doing some things similar to how I did Jack's first.
First Haircut Dylan got his first haircut this week! It felt werid because it seems so early, but he was born with this crazy flock of seagulls tuft in the front and it was just getting crazy....boy band crazy. Anyway, here are pics:

Hi Ladies,
lvella - cute pics! Wow, he did have a lot of hair.
Steveim - I'm glad to hear that you're finding distractions. How are the arrangements coming? I remember when FIL died, getting everything together (albeit quickly) was so exhausting and kind of a headache. We're thinking of you.
Bloomwood - I saw your party in the other thread, wow, you put in a lot of work! It looks like it turned out great and was a hit.
Tomama - thanks for posting that info...now I want to make some pinwheels too! I made a banner for his high chair last night. :)
lcarlson - what a PITA! My nanny can't find more work (I just need her PT and her other PT family summers in France), so she may leave me and go work in another town for the summer and come back in the fall.
JLR - we have a radio flyer too - thanks for reminding me! It's still in the box from Christmas. I need to get that sucker out for park outings this summer.
Not much new with us. We're taking J to a baseball game tonight, we'll see how long he lasts since the game starts at 7:10. I'm so looking forward to this weekend. Anyone have any fun plans? We're staying home, but we have plans with friends and we'll probably take the boat out for the first time this season, I'm really looking forward to that. J can try out his new life jacket. :D

lvella - What a cute little retro rocker baby you have. Landon also needs a haircut, but his is more like a Donald Trump comb over-- when the wind blows, the whole right side lifts up :p
L. is doing well-- happy, teething (5 so far w/one more coming in), eating everything in sight, babbling away, very observant and still not a good sleeper. He's still not officially crawling but is scooting backwards and is a rolling machine. We're working on the crawling, but I'm not too concerned since my kids seem to be late crawlers/walkers.
We're leaving on a cruise tomorrow... with the kids. I'm so not ready. It's a short one with DH's company (thank gawd we're rerouted to Catalina instead of Mexico), but I just hate thinking of all the stuff we need to pack for just 3 nights. All I have packed so far is a container of antibacterial wet wipes...
Have a great weekend!!!

TOMama have a great trip, even though it's a short one! Love how your bday crafts are all coming together! Looks fantastic!!
Lvella Love the before/after shots of D!! What a cutie ;) He looks older w/his new do'! It's hard to believe our little ones will be turning 1 soon. Is D starting us off w/the 1st bday?!
lcarlson I sure hope you find someone reliable & trustworthy to watch your kids for those 2 mos.. It's so hard to find someone that you like. Here's hoping it works out w/your Mom.
Daisy hope you had a nice time at the game. The wagon has been the best! Grandpa put ours together, so I didn't have to mess w/it:p Just make sure they don't toss things from the wagon on your walk. I learned the hard way! I had to go back a looong 4 blocks looking for his hat, 'cause DS decided to 'toss' it off somewhere along the way:rolleyes:....
Memorial Day plans nothing spcl. Cook out w/my family sometime over the wknd. I don't go back to work till next Thurs., so that's Great! I'll prob. spend some time crafting some more things for DS's bday & doing some yardwork.

very cute, Lvella!! They are adorable little boys and I love the invite.
I ordered S's today too from paperbuzz. I don't actually LOVE it, but it's ok. I just needed to get it ordered so I could move on. I am doing a simple brunch with a champagne bar. I'll probably order the cake. I don't know...I don't really like baking but I made DD1's cake, so I feel like I should. Plus, I used this adorable tiara on it that I'd love to reuse. (this was everyone else's cake; she had her own smash cake)
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g132/bloomwood/IMG_2534.jpg
In other not-so-exciting-news. I think S has roseola. She had a fever of 103.2 on Saturday and 104.7 on Sunday. No other symptoms. She has a milder fever today so I am holding off on the motrin. Hopefully it will break tonight, rash tomorrow and done. The thing that gets me is the poor girl never even leaves the house but we had a couple of kids over last week and BAM! sick. She is so susceptible. I mean, she leaves the house, but I don't do a formal playgroup or anything with her.
She is starting to cruise along furniture now. Oh and she is a major piggie. We went for pizza last night and she was having a fit trying to stand in her high chair to get my pizza. Well, she actually started trying to get my honey-covered pears, then arugula then pizza. I finally gave her some of the za and she went to town, so satisfied. This was after she'd eaten a huge meal that I'd brought her. Crazy girl.
I'll try to be back later for SOs. Gotta shower while they're both asleep.

At the ripe ol' age of 10 months, Landon has finally slept through the night! Hallelujah! I know I'm jinxing myself by sharing the news, but seriously, I'm so happy to finally get a solid night's sleep that I'm ready to break out the champagne. I was actually concerned that I might have PPD because I've been such a disorganized grouch lately, but I'm thinking that the months (years?) of not getting a decent night sleep has taken its toll. His 6th tooth has come thru, so hopefully that will be it for a while.
Bloom - What a pretty cake! Is that coconut? Yum. Poor S. That's awful, I hope the fever has broken and she's on the mend.
Lvella - Cute pic of the boys. I like your invite too-- You just reminded me that I need to get L's invites together.
lcarlson - I hope the childcare situation works out.
steviem - We're thinking of you!
JLR - Hope you're enjoying your time off!
OMG - Ryan slept through the night last night too!! It's such a fight to get him to go down, CIO doesn't work with him, he cried every night for at least an hour for days, so I just gave up... Last night after 15 min. of rubbing his back he finally fell asleep at 8:30 and slept till 6:30! I'm thinking he's working on his top 2 teeth (only has the bottom 2), his finger is always in his mouth, like he's rubbing the roof of his mouth.
Birthday We finally decided on a venue for his birthday party - an amusement park. It's the same price as the picnic facility, but the min is less... DH really wants to make a big deal for his birthday and if I can get another job, I wouldn't be so concerned with the cost :( Now I can finally get the info to the etsy seller for his invites, just need to get a picture for them. I'll be making the cake and cupcakes and cookie favors. Thankfully, we're not doing a "theme", but the colors are blue, green and aqua, so I can do something to match.
I picked up a push walker thingie for DS yesterday since he's being brave and trying to take steps on his own. Those things should have some kind of adjustment for the wheels!! It moves faster than he can walk behind it! I see many face plants in our future :p
Bloom - Great cake, I love the tiara on top! I hope S is feeling better :(
Lvella - Love the invites and the pics are precious :)
JLR - enjoy your time off!
lcarson I know how stressful childcare can be, I hope everything works out. We want to keep Ryan in daycare even though I'm not working. There were only 2 babies - him and another - for months, but 1 started last month, 1 started this week, another starts next week, then another starts in July. They are licensed for 7 infants, so I'm scared to pull him out and not be able to get him back in.

Hi ladies :)
Well, we finally made it back to our house on Saturday. It took me the whole day to unpack and get organized. It utterly amazes me how much stuff we had to take to my mom's house for the kids. The kids did really well, all things considered. I did my best to keep them on their nap/eat/sleep schedule so I think that helped. By the end of the week, DS kept saying that he wanted to go home, so I knew it was time but it was hard to leave my mom all alone.
Still trying to "deal" with the fact my dad is gone. Ladies, if you haven't lost a parent before, let me tell you, it sucks big time.... way worse than I ever imagined. Sorry to be such a downer......I just can't shake this "funk" I am in, although I am trying.
Anyway.... on to happier things:
Avery is doing well. Still only 2 teeth, but that doesn't seem to stop her. She eats anything and everything.... that girl can eat! She is crawling and cruising like crazy. I have a feeling she will walk before DS did (he was 13 months.) She is still a happy baby but she is developing major attitude. She gets mad when I try and take something away from her.... like the lovely cat or dog hair she gets from the rug and tries to put in her mouth  She screams and shakes her head back and forth when she is mad.... hello... isn't this a bit too young for tantrums to start? I think I'm gonna be in trouble!
JLR: Hope you are having fun on your time off. It's more than well deserved.
Bloom: Okay, where do I begin. The kitchen remodel is AH-MAZING! Love it, especially the view you have :) And DD1's bday party rocked! Hope S is feeling better. Oh, and thanks so much for posting that coconut cake..... now I can't get it out of my mind.... must find cake now!
Lvella: Your guys are too cute and the invites turned out really well! I heart inababycarriage.com. I remember when she launched her business back in the good ol' Wedding Channel days.
Lcarlson: I am sure everything will work out. Try not to stress (I know, easier said than done.)
Tomama: Yippee! It's amazing what a good sleep will do for ya! Adorable party for DS1- love the car theme and LOVE the decorations you are making for DS2's bday! How do you find the time? Everything is so cute!
Sue: Congrats on DS STTN! That is awesome!
Hope I didn't forget anyone.
She is still a happy baby but she is developing major attitude. Hi Ladies,
How is everyone? Jensen turned 10 months yesterday. His latest thing is screaming, he just loves to hear himself and gets so excited. I bought him a walker awhile ago and he's starting to learn how to get around in it. He's also getting some more teeth on the top (on the side) and they seem to bother him more than the others have (he has 5 now). I had to give him tylenol the other night just to get him to sleep.
So I realize this will sound ridiculous, but has anyone started to think about schools (like pre-K and beyond)? Within the last week we have randomly got on the private/public topic with two sets of friends with kids in private (one is also on the board of his kids school). I always kinda assumed we'd do public since we're in such a good district, but now I'm totally on the private bandwagon (at least for pre-k/elementary) and have started my reseach...there are so many freaking schools around here. I need some sort of guide - good thing I have a few years!
JLR - cute pic! You're so good with taking them every month.
Steveim - hope you're getting along okay. I can't imagine. I don't know how my DH coped when his dad passed in Dec., he never really talks about it. :( J also shakes his head back and forth a lot...it's funny.
ToMama and Sue - yay for sleep!!! ToMama, how was the cruise?
Bloom - for someone that doesn't like to bake, that cake looks good! How is S feeling?
lvella - cute pics!

Daisy teething, going through more of that here, too! fun.fun. Hope J is enjoying that walker of his! Nope, we haven't thought about school. just trying to make it through the 1st year w/DS. heehee.
Sue that's great that R finally sttn!! Hey, his bday party sounds like fun! I picked up a bib @ Kohl's a loong way back that has the same colors - aqua, dark navy blue, white & green. It says, "Birthday Boy!"
steviem hope you're taking day by day. Hugs to you & your mom and to the rest of your family. I can't believe she's cruising & crawling all around! It's all happening too fast! Sometimes, it seems like yesterday they were little babies. Not any more!

Weaning isn't going so well with us. Right now its 1:20AM and Dylan has been SCREAMING for an hour. I used to go in and soothe him, but it seemed to just make it worse. I KILLS me to hear him crying, but I know he isn't hungry, just wanting to comfort-nurse. Its so sad. he has only STTN one time in 11 months so he is really used to nursing.
Daisy Dylan loves to hear his voice too with the screaming. He does it with 100% pure joy and I have proof for you: http://www.dropshots.com/lvella43#date/2009-05-29/16:09:28

Lvella - so cute. Cute video too. Sorry to hear that weaning is being a PITA.
I'm having 'one of those days.' I think I'm going to have some sangria. Everything has annoyed me today - work especially (the CFO of my client company needs his freaking hand held for everything), then it took Jensen 45 minutes to eat a single jar of stage 3 food (then he barfed some of it up), then I went to the mall to return a shirt and bought two pairs of really awesome shoes(!!!), but now feel a tad guilty (although I'm not taking them back, I'll wear them forever :)). Plus, it's super warm out and I've hardly enjoyed any of it today and I didn't get my run in this morning, blah. Then my receptionist tells me she heard that I'm going to start coming into the office a couple days a week (WTF). I've only spoken briefly about that to another coworker/friend. Haven't talked to my boss about it and I'm not sure I want to or am ready to. Today is annoying!
Phew, I'm done venting!

Lvella: I'd love the tunic if no one has claimed it already. It's so cute!
A lot has happened in the last several weeks. I decided to take some time off to be a SAHM for awhile (been very unhappy with my job), while I figure out what I want to do next in the long-term. I'm not entirely sure whether I want to continue practicing law (not that there are many jobs even available right now) or do something different.
We're also moving, just found a new apartment in LA since DH will be starting a fellowship in July. Hopefully DD will adjust to the move. I'm going to see if there are any playgroups we can join.
DD has been crawling and cruising like crazy the last few weeks. She pulls up all the time too. It makes putting her down for naps very challenging. She's becoming so much more vocal and interactive too. She's been eating a ton, but having problems with self-feeding. She can grasp food with her fingers but hasn't figured out how to get it in her mouth by herself.
Can't believe our little ones will be turning one very soon.

Since Ryan STTN last week, he's done it 1 other night  Last night was awful, up at 2:30, didn't want to settle back down - he was wide awake. After an hour or so, I popped some teething tablets in his mouth in case that was it, then as a last resort nursed him. He fell right asleep after that.
DH is going to San Diego for the weekend so I'll be all alone with DS... so not looking forward to it. I can get a break with DH around, not so much this weekend!
DS is still crawling and cruising like a maniac, he'll take a step or half a step here and there, but that's it. He still only has 2 bottom teeth, I wish the top would pop thru so he's take his finger out of his mouth!
Lvella super cute top!
JLR I do monthly pics of Ryan with a stuffed dog that I'll display in a banner for his party :) Cute pics, I love the hat, DS won't keep anything on his head.
Daisy Haven't thought about schools. We'll be moving before he's "of age", hopefully to a great district :)

Sue: Your little guy is alreaday taking steps! That's great :) Good luck with your interview- I'll be sending good thoughts your way.
Nothing much to report here. I am finishing up DS's birthday party planning. He wanted Thomas the Train but then changed his mind to Spiderman  So, I returned all the TT stuff and bought Spidey stuff. Still having fun planning Avery's party- after planning a Spidey party, it will be fun to do something girly.
Avery has been waking up A LOT during the night. I think she is teething.... the doc said she has 4 teeth on the top ready to pop but they just won't come through. Oh and in other news, she is saying lots of words now: mama, dada, good girl, uh-oh and baba (bottle). None of them are in any context except for uh-oh... she says it when she drops something. I am amazed that she is saying words this early. DS was a LATE talker......only had 3 or so words by 12 months and didn't really start talking until he was 2. Now, I can't get the kids to be quiet ;)
Hope you all have a great day. It's another grey and gloomy day here in SoCal.... yuck!

My younger sister is here all week, so it's been nice having extra help :)
Today, we went to The Columbus Zoo!! We were there all day. It was beautiful out, but gawd was the humidity horrible. It was a 1st for all 3 of us! I feel bad that DH misses out on a lot of things. :( We had a fantastic time & DS loved it! He was mesmerized by the Gibbons:p(the loud making monkeys)! He had his first boat & train ride there etc; etc... They also have a little amusement park & we rode some rides too. Funny thing - Tonight, DH was getting ready to bathe DS, so he put him nekkid in the hallway on carpet. Well, I go to pick up DS & getting ready to hand him off to DH, to put in bath. Oh $hit! Wouldn't ya know that DS pooped on the carpet & I stepped in it?!?!:o:eek::rolleyes: What a wonderful way to end our evening.

QOTD - what are you guys getting your DC for their birthday?
I ask because I have no idea what to get Jensen! I can't think of anything he needs. He has tons of clothes and toys, a couple of those things he can scoot around on or push, a lovely plastic play house we inherited from a friend, pool toys, a wagon...ideas? I looked at a few catalogs last night and nothing jumped out at me.
JLR - so gross! If it makes you feel better, I've picked up 4 different piles of nasty cat puke within the last 2 days.
Sue - good luck with your interview!!!
Steveim - we're in the same boat, it seems like J's top teeth took/are taking forever to break through. The middle two finally did after what seemed to be 1-2 months, now he's working the the two sides.

JLR What a bummer about the puke; its never good for either person (the puker or the cleaner!)
1st bday gifts We are sort of at a loss also. I think I'd like to get him his own Cozy Coupe since Jack LOVES his and Dylan likes it too and I just don't feel like dealing with sharing that one toy. Too many tantrums; must pick our battles, right? Dylan doesn't need anything though!!
Teeth Dylan has 7 (almost 8) teeth!!! They seemed to come in all at once too!

Lvella - Your boys are too cute. I love the picture of them from Memorial Day weekend. Your invites turned out great, Amber always does a great job. I have to get my act together and send her some pics for my invite. Sorry you are having such a difficult time weaning D. I hope it gets easier for both of you. The top you made is so cute, I wish I had a little girl.
Bloom - That cake looks so yummy. I love baking but I am definitely not that talented. Thanks for the copy of the circus ticket. Thank god for my DH because I would have had no idea how to change the name. They came out really cute.
ToMama - I am glad to hear the L finally gave you a good nights sleep, hopefully it will continue.
Sue - Sorry that Ryan has not continued to STTN. It stinks because you get your hopes up thinking that they will continue to STTN and then they go back to waking up again. That is so neat that you are having Ryan's party at an amusement park, it sounds like fun. Good luck on your interview.
StevieM - Glad to hear you are home. How is your Mom doing? It also amazes me that the little attitude is starting so early. G gets so angry when I take something away from him. Sorry to hear that A has been waking a lot. It stinks when they are sick or teething because no one gets good sleep.
JLR - Love the picture of A with the penguin. I really wish I would have done something like that too. Yuck..it sounds like you have had to clean some gross stuff.
Daisy - G also just got his two eye teeth on top and they seemed to bother him a lot more than any of his other teeth did. I haven't really thought too much about schools because our district is really good and I don't think we can afford to send the boys to private school.
undesigned - Congrats on becoming a SAHM, I hope you love it. Good luck on the move. Are you already living in So Cal? Sorry I am not much help with the playgroups. Since I work full-time I don't have much time for playgroups.

Birthday Present - I have no idea. Between the two kiddos we have more toys then we know what to do with. He doesn't have a push/walker toy so maybe I will look into that. We bought DS#1 a radio flyer retro car. It was really cute and we used it for a photo prop, but he never used it too much.
Food - Are there any other Mom's out there that are ultra nervous about their babies choking. I still cut everything up into tiny pieces. We went to CPK on Sunday and G was trying to take bites out of the pizza crust and I wouldn't let him because I was afraid he would choke.
I have been in a party planning mode. The nice thing is that I think I will have everything finished well before the party. I have been making a lot of the decorations and it's been pretty fun. I made a birthday banner and high chair banner. I am also sewing fabric bags for the party favors and I am considering sewing table-clothes.
The daycare situation still sucks. I decided that it would not be right to put G in an in-home daycare for two months unless they knew up front. Of course none of the people I have spoken with want a child on a temporary basis since that keeps them from filling a spot. I went to La Petite today and it was actually pretty nice but it's $140 more a week then what I pay now. I don't see us having any other options but the idea of paying $500 per week for both kids seems outrageous.

Bday present Here are some suggestions - What about getting a family pass to the Zoo or to an Aquarium & then getting them something little. Perhaps a prof. photog of them at their 1 yr.. How 'bout a motorized car or a swing(little tykes) to hang from the tree, swimsuit/pool, a swim pass or a cute little luggage set for their travels. Take them to a circus or to a special event just for kiddos.
Jeez, Ryan still only has 2 teeth! I think one is going to pop through on top soon though. It seems like the other babes are full of pearly whites :)
JLR Ewww, not fun! The zoo sounds awesome! I'd love to take DS, but I wasn't sure if he'd really "get it"
Lvella What a great pic :)
lcarlson wow, that's a lot of $, but it's only temporary right?
Birthday Haven't a clue...
Food I haven't been too bad, but I still worry. I try to make sure stuff is small enough, but yet big enough that it's worth chewing.
Since we finally have the venue picked out, I can get the invites done. We're going to put an enclosure with the invite for info about the party - bring your swimsuit/towel, cake will be at 3, how much adult ride passes are... just so no one is caught off guard.

lcarlson - FOOD I just took a CPR class & I'm still scared to death of my DS choking. My son is just now getting the hang of 'trying' to self feed himself and I've been trying for awhile now... It's frustrating for both of us. He looks at the food, plays in it, touches it, throws on floor, ANYTHING, but put it in his mouth to eat it! If by chance he puts it in his mouth, it just sits in there - he won't swallow.-->this makes me nervous & it drives me batty!
Sue he'll eventually get there w/the teeth! The bday party you have planned sounds like Fun! You'd be surprised what he may like at the zoo! I can't believe he's taking steps already! How's sttn going?
steviem ditto on the gloomy day - it's been one here too today. My 2yr. old nephew is totally in to Spidey as well. Glad you were able to swap them out in exchange. That's too cute that she says, 'good girl'. Colors or theme for DD?
undesigned good luck w/the move and interview & enjoy SAH for awhile!
Daisy You're right, cat puke is wAay more disgusting! EWWWW Cat didn't lick it back up did it? I posted some ideas for 1st bday, but what about the personalized book from PBK where you can tell the story about when they were born & etc; etc. I think their name would be personalized & would be on every page. It think it's around $50+ and up. I saw that awhile ago & thought it was super cute!
lvella I believe I have the Cozy coupe on my DS wishlist for his bday. I don't want any other big items, 'cause my Mom is a Craigslist addict & has already bought him a TON of outside toys/playsets for when he's a bit older.
D is super smiley cute! No wonder he can chew the pizza, with all of those teeth! It's amazing how fast this yr. has gone & how much older our lil' ones are looking w/teeth.
lcarson that really stinks about the $ you have to drop just for daycare. Glad you like the facility though & well, it better be nice for that amt.! Wow, sounds like your waay ahead of the game as far as bday planning! You'll have to post a pic. of your banners!
No wonder why ds has been more cranky the last week or so, he's cutting 2 more teeth. He already has 4top/2 bottom & the 2 new ones are on top! A mouthful of fun, eh?

We've had an eventful few days. We spent a few days in San Diego and did the Children's Museum, Zoo and Disneyland on the way back up. Also just found out that we got the house (remember the short sale? well, by a stroke of luck we upped our offer a tiny amount & the bank accepted) and escrow closes July 1st! And I was stressing out just planning L's bday party... Should be an interesting month.
Sleep - Well, the good sleep lasted all of one night. Like Lvella , we're crying it out. He's a boob addict and needs a 12 step program. I only get him if it's after 3 AM because I don't want him to wake up DS1. Last night by 4 AM, we had both of them in our bed. I can't sleep when I'm clinging on to the edge of the bed and also trying to keep an eye on DS1 who likes to kick L.
Food - I'm much more lax with food with L. than DS1. He's eaten a much wider variety of food at an earlier age. However, he LOVES food, prefers to self feed, is a good chewer and hardly ever chokes (knock on wood). But to counter balance my good eater-- DS1 is a really bad chewer, bad eater, and is not into food AT ALL... so he's "trained" me to be pretty fastidious about cutting things up and keeping a close eye on both of them when they're eating.
Cruise - Overall it was fine, but it was a lot of work for a short trip-- so much stuff to lug onboard for 2 kids. Unfortunately we couldn't do most of the activities because of the boy's schedules, but we did enjoy spending time in Catalina and we had fantastic weather.
Screaming- I can't wait until this phase is over. L. screams for everything-- happy, sad, mad, hungry... and it's a piercing, blood curdling scream. At breakfast in SD the table behind us changed hands 3 times because of his screaming (I couldn't see and DH told me after the fact).
Birthday Presents - No idea... maybe Step2 see-saw, roller coaster, or some other outdoor toy. We really don't need any more toys or clothes.
steviem - Isn't this weather strange? Looks like we have more rain the rest of this week. That's awesome that Avery is talking already. L. is stuck on dada and nana (oh, and screaming), but not in the right context.
JLR - cute pics of A! What a happy little fella. I took monthly pics of DS1 with a teddy bear, but haven't been as good with L.-- I don't even know what months I missed because I haven't printed any of his pics yet... bad mommy! Wow, your carpet is being put to the test this week ;)
lcarlson - That's great that you're in the party planning mode. Doesn't it feel great being productive? I have all these ideas, but I keep getting bogged down with the details. I really need to get going! I wish I could sew, I'd be all over the handmade table clothes!
daisy - Yeah, I've been thinking about schools a lot lately, especially since we're moving and I want to make sure we're aligned to a good elem/mid school/high school. We have a ton of options here-- charters, magnets, decent public, lots of church/private... It's overwhelming. What's interesting is that although our new house is aligned to the best public high school in the district, the elementary school is one of the lowest performing (if you look at test scores). However, it is also has a magnate school attached to it... ack! I need to do more research before we send DS1 to school in a couple of years. In the meantime we're doing both a co-op preschool (thru the school district & adult school) and private preschool for DS1 next year.
Sue - Good luck on your interview!
Well, time to sign off and go to bed!!

ToMama Glad to hear you had a good cruise; you are a brave brave woman to take two kids on a cruise!! LOL
Food/Choking I am much more relaxed with Dylan than DS1, but the funny thing is that Dylan is not that great of an eater at all and we have to watch him SUPER close. He will chew and chew then just keep things in his mouth! DS1 shoved all the food in his mouth that he could and was fine, crazy kids. I still cut things up , but also give bigger pieces so he can bite them and we just sit close.
JLR I can't remember if I commented already, but the pics are so cute. I love your son's eyes!
Talking Its so strange to hear Dylan consistently use words/sounds! DS1 didn't talk until he was closer to 3 (genetic issue) so we used lots and lots of sign language (he knew almost 300 signs). Dylan can say/sound and use correctly (it seems) Mama, Dada, all done, more.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies,
It's supposed to be 90 here again today! In the land of no AC, this is really hot for us. J has been having a hard time going down for his afternoon nap since it's so warm (even with the windows open and a fan going). We'll be spending the afternoon in the pool again (which, at 85 degrees, really isn't that refreshing ).
JLR - thanks for all the ideas, I really love that PBK book and think I may order it. I'm a sucker for personalized things...
ToMama - congrats on the house!!! How exciting! When do you close? Schools - Although we're also in one of the best districts in the state, my problem lies with diversity and class size...and I think the test scores that get these schools ranked so high are skewed. I also want to be sure that J gets all the appropriate attention he may need (like extra help or more challenge, etc.). I'm pretty certain we'll end up doing private at least through 5th. Many of the private schools here have a pre-k program, so I want to pick one that I plan on sticking with into grade school.
Food - J isn't totally into self feeding, he'll do it when he's ready so I'm not too bothered by this (less mess anyway). He'll eat anything I feed him on a spoon. He has the sippy down pat though. He does choke on things, but I think it's because he'll just swallow it whole instead of chewing.
Talking - he's pretty good at Mama and Dada/Daddy and chatters up a storm. So far he knows one sign (all done) - I'm not consistent on any others. :D
lcarlson - sorry to hear that the daycare situation is a PITA. You are inspiring me to get back on the party-planning bandwagon! I bought a cupcake decorating kit recently, but that is all I've done since making the banner.
I got called for a 2nd interview! The only thing that sucks is that Ryan's daycare is over 30 min away, then it's another 45 min. home. With DH back in school and volunteering, I'd have to pick him up at least 3 days a week. And if I pick him up, I'd have to stop home first and let the dogs out. I probably wouldn't get home till 7 and that's not good.
Not too much else going on... Ryan is consistently taking steps here and there... He'll take a couple then either fall or launch himself at you. I think he'll be walking by his birthday. He's already a handful with his speed crawling!
Sleep DH is gone for the weekend, so tonight I did our first night of CIO - real CIO without DH to go in to rub his back until he falls asleep :) Took him 20 min. so it wasn't that bad. I'm sure he'll wake up sometime tonight, problem is he only nurses for a few minutes before bed, so when he wakes up I don't know if it's because he's hungry. I know he should be able to make it through the night since he has a pretty big "meal" for dinner, but I'd feel better if he nursed longer than 5 min on both sides :( I know sometimes he sleeps through and other times he'll go back to sleep without it, but it's the times he eats like a champ then falls asleep that I always think about. And he usually winds up in our bed since I know he'll fall back to sleep. I'm also going to try weaning him from the pacifier. He only uses it at bed/nap time, but when he gets angry he throws it out of the crib, then will finally fall asleep, so I think it's time to say goodbye. My niece is 2 1/2 and will walk around with the thing in her mouth for no reason (no offense if anyones DC uses one throughout the day :) )
Talking DS isn't really talking. Babbling yes :) He says mama and I think sometimes he means me, but it's hard to tell. I got the Baby Signing Times DVD's and he knows the sign for "ball" (he is obsessed with balls), but I haven't been doing anything consistently... That's the other project for this weekend :p
Cups Still struggling with this one. I think he gets it, but he won't drink water. I have to try some BM and see how he does with that. I don't want to give him juice, but I might try flavored water, see if he likes that any better. What do you guys give them if they are using a sippy/cup?
Daisy So jealous about the pool, but not the no AC!!
TOMama Congrats on the house!!!

sue - those are some amazing eyes!!
We got DD1 a wagon and a kettler trike for her bday. She also got the "my own name" books. The Fisher Price learning home is a great toy with lots of staying power. We are having DD1 give her little sis a "baby stella" for her bday - my go to first bday gift for little girls. Walker/push toys and sand and water tables are good.

SO tired from the loong wknd I had, but it was a great one, so I can't complain to much.:p I love being around my family. I'm worn out & have been run down since Wednesday. If I'm worn out, then my DS is too, 'cause he's been taking 3 hr. looong naps  He's played hard all week long! DS gave me his sniffles too.
I had my 12 yr. old sister here for most of the week & she wore me out! Mon-worked, Tuesday-Zoo all day, Wed-swimming & Thurs.-I worked. I had 3 girls at my house all day Fri. & we all just hung out & went to a water park & went shopping for DS. On Sat., I had to get up super early to drop some stuff off for my sister on my way in to work. My co-worker/friend & her granddaughter watched my DS while I worked a 1/2 day. My other 2 sisters, they're 10yr. old twins, were dropped off & we went to a family bday celebration. I came home to a household Sat. evening!--my dh came home from work, aunt/uncle stopped by & my Mom/SD came back from their wk. long vacay.
Today, I ended up having 20 ppl over for a get together. Wasn't planning on it, but it just turned out that way. ;) It was a beautiful day out!! We grilled out & just enjoyed sitting around a shaded tree outdoors conversing & watching all of the kiddos play. They bought my DS a used step2 swingset(gotta luv CL!)& I scrubbed the pieces & bleached it for over 2 hrs. & they put it together for me. My backyard is like a playland right now!
How's everyone's bday planning going so far for their DC?
I haven't done squat, since the banner. I really need to get on the ball again, since his par-tay is upon us! Have any of you thought about what food to serve?
Sue what a doll!
bloomwood we also have that FP laugh/learn home. I do like the idea of a trike.
lvella I'll have to check out TRU for a jack-in-box. What a good idea! Especially the fact that it doesn't require batteries!
what are you feeding your DC for breakfast these days & for other meals throughout the day? I need to come up w/some more ideas for food, since I'm weaning him from baby purees. I've been giving him more tablefoods lately.

Hi Ladies,
Hope everyone had a nice weekend. We took J to the zoo yesterday for the first time (and got some great pics) and saw the IL's on Saturday. DH's SIL and family are moving here and we saw their new house (same family we visited in Israel last year). They'll settle in later this month...it'll be interesting to see how things work out with them living here (in terms of communication, seeing them, how often, if MIL is always included, etc.). I would like J to grow up with his cousin around regularly, so I know I will make an effort.
Bloom - love the FP playhouse idea, I think I will have my dad buy this for J.
Sue - congrats and good luck with the second interview!! Cute pic too!
JLR - hope you're not getting sick, sounds like you had a busy week.
Birthday Party Food - I still have a month and a half or so until J's party...that being said, I think we will serve sliders (conveniently getting DH a slider making set for father's day). Kabobs of watermelon, honeydew and pineapple and another one of cherry tomatoes, small balls of mozzarella and basil. I'll probably also make my potato salad and a few other things.
Daily Food - Since J isn't really into self feeding, I don't feel like I've done anything new in awhile.
Breakfast - yobaby yogurt with either whole grain cheerios or kashi. Bottle.
Lunch - jar of stage 3 or these chunky baby cubes (from Whole Foods). Sippy of water or milk.
Dinner - 1-2 jars of stage 3, bottle. If I do a jar of fruit, I'll put actual chunks of cut up fruit with it. I've mentioned it before, J seems to eat anything that I put on a spoon and feed him. If I put it on the tray, he'll just hold it in his hand and make a mess.
Snack - doesn't have one regularly, but if he does, it's just milk.
Has anyone tried the Dr. Susanna's World Baby Food from Whole Foods? Might just be a local thing since she is local...but there are different kinds of food (russian, japanese, thai, mexican, indian - J likes the mexican best). They are SUPER thick - as in hold the spoon upside down and nothing moves. It takes J forever to eat it.

Hello everyone,
So it's been wonderful being at home with DD, but it's also very exhausting. She doesn't really have a regimented schedule which makes the day very unpredictable so we're going to work on it after the move.
DD stood unsupported for a few seconds today. She's crawling faster so I'm running after her a lot more. She has 7 teeth, 4 on top and 3 on the bottom and I think another one is coming through. Still babbling, but no real talking yet.
B-day party: You guys are so good with the b-day party planning. I just started to think about the b-day party, our apartment is going to be too small so we'll probably do it at my folks' house or at the in-laws.
Food: It varies, but we generally give her 3 meals a day with a snack.
Breakfast: cereal mixed with fruit or vegetable.
Lunch: vegetable, fruit, hard boiled egg yolk a couple days a week, sometimes cereal
Dinner: cereal, vegetable, fruit
Snack: cheese cubes, teething biscuit, or yogurt
I tried making an egg yolk scramble with chopped up veggies but she didn't like the texture. She also isn't a big fan of meats or the beans. She's getting to be more picky - if she doesn't like what she eats, she'll spit it out. Once in awhile, she'll gag on something which really freaks me out so I'm still cutting up her food in small pieces.
Daisy: sounds like the zoo was fun, I'm thinking of taking Lana to the zoo or the aquarium sometime soon.
JLR: your weekend must have been exhausting, hope you're not getting sick. So you have good experiences with Craiglist? I was thinking of purchasing a used jogger on CL...
Bloom: I was actually thinking of getting the FP Learning Home, seems similar in concept to the LeapFrog musical table which she loves.
Sue: Good luck with the interview! I love Ryan's eyes.
TOMama: Congrats on the house!
lcarlson: how's the daycare situation going? It's crazy how expensive it can be, and even more so when you have 2!
steviem: I'm impressed with Avery's talking. I'm also getting tired of the June gloom, where's our beautiful SoCal sunshine?
Lvella: a jack in the box is a great gift idea, will add that to my list.

I'll try to do a proper reply with SOs later today, but had some other thoughts on 1st bday gifts as I was just shopping on amazon. Most of these are right around $20 so good for family/friend suggestions:
FP See and Say: the animal sounds toy
FP busy ball popper: we didn't have this for DD1, but she loved playing with it at other kids' houses
FP Bounce and spin zebra: kind of a big foot print, but DD1 played with it quite a while and now DD2 likes it (I have to hold her on it)
shape sorter: the more basic, the better.
As for food, I am trying to give her variations on our meals as much as possible to cut down on too much prep.
Breakfast: toast, waffles or pancakes with cream cheese, chopped fruit with cereal and yogurt, oatmeal with frozen blueberries. I haven't tried eggs yet, but she likes sausage!
Lunch/Dinner: just a litany of things she's had:
shredded chicken
corn tortilla with cheese, cut up, she LOVES it
cubed cheese sticks or handful of shredded cheese
torn up deli turkey
frozen okra, thawed and sauteed with olive oil
peas/corn (frozen and thawed)
pizza
salmon and halibut and sole prepared various ways
broccoli florets
brown rice
homemade and boxed mac and cheese
corn muffin
She basically lunges for anything we (especially her sister) are eating, so I give it to her if she can handle it. She doesn't care for zucchini or avocado or beans but that's about all she spits out. She was spitting out her okra last night, so I put it in yogurt and spoon fed her; she ate it all up. DD and DH made ice cream the other day, so she had little tastes from my spoon. Loved it. Of course. She also had some broth from a tortilla soup I made and once she figured out it would just go down her throat, she loved it.

Why can't I catch a break these days...I think G has hand, foot and mouth disease. He came down with a 102.5 fever yesterday morning. A few hours later I get a call from his daycare provider to tell me that one of the other boys was sent home last Thursday with a fever and now her son also has a fever. Last night she called and told me that the boy who was sent home last Thursday has HFMD. I am just assuming this is what G has. It starts with a high fever and then they get lovely lesions inside their mouths and/or on their hands and feet. We have only been able to get G to drink 2.5 oz. of formula today, I am sure he is going to want to drink even less once he has lesions inside his mouth. Oh what fun....

lcarlson - That sounds awful :( I hope he feels better soon and you can get a break from all these viruses. Isn't there a rule about kids not getting sick past Memorial Day? Hang in there!
food - L. pretty much eats what we eat. The only thing I struggle with is fruit and I still feed him purees to make sure he doesn't get constipated-- he's not fond of them. I need to stock up on melons & bananas.
Random birthday party thought-- was someone doing a monkey party? Found some cute ideas on this (http://www.trioeventskids.com/)site

lcarlson How's G feeling? I sure hope he gets rid of HFMD, that is, if he has it. Hope he gets well soon.
bloomwood was that turkey lunchmeat or actual Turkey meat from a breast?
I need to come up w/some more veggie/protein ideas to give dS.
So far, I've given DS......... eggs, sausage, onions & bell peppers-(this was in a scrambled egg from a restuarant), pear/peach/apple chunks, melon, some cheese, diced carrots(Gerber graduate), diced apples & they're sweet IMO(Gerber graduate), LOVES his YoBaby Yogurt(I think we've tried them all!), corn/gr. beans/carrot mixture-(I found the fozen veggies are harder, so I think I'm going to get some canned ones--they may be softer, mashed potatoes, mac/cheese, cottage cheese-not to fond of, pancakes, applesauce w/no sugar, and these disgusting looking lil' sticks turkery/chicken/meat types, but DS likes them-(Gerber Graduate), Gerber graduate cereal bars & all kinds of Gerber snacks. No reactions thus far...
I have bought milk this week, and am thinking of trying it on him here in the next week or so. I may just give him some mixed in w/his a.m. formula. Plan on calling my Ped. to ask about it.
In bday planning mode again. Off to take a walk w/DS & to watch SYTYCD!
lvella I cannot believe D is going to turn 1 at the end of the month!!! How exciting!

We took G to the doctor today and they confirmed that he does have Hand, Foot and Mouth disease. He has ulcers all over the back of his throat. We couldn't see them but now we know why he doesn't really want to drink anything. He doesn't have a fever anymore, he is just miserable because of the throat pain. My main concern is that he is going to get dehydrated.
This couldn't be a worse week too. Saturday my BF is getting married and I am in the wedding. DH and I have a room booked at the Four Seasons and it looks like we may have to cancel that unless G greatly improves in the next two days.

JLR - yep, deli turkey. It is Diestel from Whole Foods. For veggies, I just use what I have for the rest of us, cut up small, put in a microwave safe dish, add a splash of water, cover with saran and steam in the microwave for a bit. For protein, again, she gets what we eat. I'll generally make a bit extra of our dinner for her to have the next night (she eats before we do).
lcarlson - so sorry about G and HFM. I hope he is on the mend :(
Birthday plans - invites are out. I have a bunch of cardstock for making a photo garland, tissue paper for making MS paper flowers and I bought her outfit (a onesie from etsy with a "1" and her name and a cute ruffled shirt from Gymbo that matches). General menu planned in my head. Lots to do!
Hey ladies -- I feel like such a slacker these days -- even though I am not working right now, I find that I don't know where my days go:rolleyes:
So we got some pretty upsetting news this week -- last Tuesday Jack had an allergic reaction to a frittata at school -- I took him to the allergist on Wednesday and he had a scratch test -- turns out he is allergic to eggs and peanuts:(:(:( We now have to carry an epi pen with us at all times and to be honest I am feeling very overwhelmed and freaked out about the whole situation. We had the RAST blood test yesterday and I am waiting for the results -- hopefully his levels will be low indicating that he *might* grow out of these allergies. . .

MrsR - I'm sorry to hear about Jack's allergies....I'll be praying that the blood tests come back with some good news. Poor kiddo...that must have been scary. I did see an interesting story about children with peanut allergies on GMA a few months ago...there are some interesting theories and treatments regarding food allergies. I'll see if I can dig it up the story.
Lcarlson - I hope little G feels better, and you can enjo your weekend. A room at the Four Seasons sounds divine!
Bloom - I forgot to say a while back that I love your kitchen. DH saw it as I was looking at it, and I think it convinced him to finally seriously consider renovating ours!
JLR - I love the pics you've posted. What a cutie! I'd love to help with protein ideas for A, but we're kind of in a rut. Ben LOVES the turkey meatballs from Trader Joe's. So much so that I tend to give him that just about every other day. I was buying a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store and giving him the chicken from that, but Ben is tiring of chicken. I've given him some deli turkey too, since I have a turkey sandwich for lunch almost every day and he loves to eat what I'm eating. We've been adding in some fish..he likes salmon and halibut. I think I'll try cod next..around here halibut runs about $18/lb. A little too expensive to eat once a week. He likes beans too..black, pinto and canellini (white kidney beans).
Sue - I love those eyes!!
It's been a while since I've been here. Ben is doing great. He took a couple steps today, but he is way more comfortable crawling around, or cruising on furniture.
We took our first trip with Ben last weekend. We drove down to Annapolis and had a great time. Ben was fantastic in the car (about a 3 hour drive) and he was great all weekend. He ate a few things off a kids menu, since we were in MD, and I had to have crab. It's no wonder kids these days are obese. There are rarely any healthy options on the menus.
We are also finally sleeing through the night!!! He cries a little when we put him down, but within 3 minutes he is asleep. I am so much happier!!
Birthdays...I got the invites out, and that's about it. I really have to start planning.
Ben's appetite has taken a nosedive this week. I hope it's just teething and he's not getting sick. He is more into playing with his food than eating it. He's still nursing a lot though.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
I don't want to jinx myself, but for this weekend, Ryan has been napping and sleeping so well!! Usually he'll cry for 5 or 10 min. then fall asleep, but not yesterday or for nap this morning. Put him down and he's asleep. The best was last night, he was asleep by 7:30 and slept thru the night till 6. Usually he's up 1 or 2 times to eat and sometimes he'll go back to sleep. He was up at 2 and 5, but he put himself back to sleep both times. Usually when he wakes up in the middle of the night, he stands in his crib and stares at the door, throwing stuff. But last night he didn't stand up, just cried a bit while re-positioning himself, so I didn't go in. I hope this lasts!
Interview went well, there is a 3rd round so we'll see if I get called for that one...
Birthday I should be getting the invites next week to mail out. There really isn't a lot for us to do since we're having it somewhere else. I need to plan his cake and smash cake and start making the dough for his cookie favors. I'm also going to pick up some beach buckets as favors for the kids, since there is a beach where we're having the party. Just little things though, nothing major to worry about.
Food At daycare he'll get a jar for breakfast and lunch - usually fruit, then veggies. I 'll also send yogurt and chopped fruit, we discovered he loves kiwis! Dinner is pretty much whatever we are having, sometimes mac & cheese, meatballs, grilled cheese sandwiches. Weekends is whatever we're having for breakfast & lunch. I hard boiled some eggs today, he'll get the yolks tomorrow. The only thing that he absolutely does not like is avocado. And even then he'll eat it, he'll gag, but he'll eat it. The kid could eat all day long if I let him.
MrsR Oh no! I hope the blood tests show his levels are low. Do you have any famly history of food allergies?
Lcarlson I hope G was feeling better and you were able to go to the wedding.

venting here. feeling sad. Dh works all the time, and since having dS, we never get to have fun outside of a weekday or do family things together, unless he takes the day off etc; etc.. We used to do a lot. I know he works hard/provides for our family. I have No clue what to do if we have another dc. Come to find out tonight, that he's working father's day. I'm not happy. I often feel bad, 'cause he hardly ever gets to spend good quality time w/dS. He's missed out on a lot of things in DS short life thus far. He works every wknd. So, it's just me/boy & I feel like I'm in it all by myself. The good quality times that he does get to spend w/him, are the 2Xs a week that I work 'cause, dh picks up ds. I should feel lucky we both have jobs, but he can't work 2 jobs forever. However, we have to, due to finances. I'm working PT now & we just simply can't afford daycare. Either I'm going to have to get a 2nd job or change something. frustrating. I feel like it's groundhog's day.
Anyone else ever feel like this or have gone/is going through this?

JLR - hugs, I'm sorry you're feeling frustrated. :(
lcarlson - yikes, how is G feeling?
MrsR - wow, hopefully he'll grow out of those allergies, when do you get the test back?
Sue - yay for sleep! I hope that it's being consistent. Congrats on the third interview and good luck!
Jeanine - I hear you about kids menus, it's like it's all fried and/or full of cheese.
DH was gone all last week so J and I drove to my parents house for a few days (2.5 hr drive). This is the first time I've done the drive by myself with J and it went well. It's over a mountain pass, so for the majority of the drive the only places available to stop are rest stops (which I would never stop at), but I didn't need to. He was awake the entire drive there and slept the entire way home. :) We're supposed to go back this weekend, but I don't think we're going to go - I need a longer break from my parents/relatives. :p
J also started feeding himself last week! As with everything new he does, he just flipped the switch and started doing it. He can't seem to get enough cheerios now. He also started pointing, clapping and wrinkling his nose.
Birthday - haven't done anything new. I want DH to scan in some pics for me to use for the invites, but he's been having trouble with it. His party isn't until the end of July, so I feel like I still have some time.

Hi ladies,
Hope you all had a nice weekend. We spent most of the time in our backyard weeding, planting, etc., getting ready for DS' party this coming Saturday. I did manage to sneak away on Saturday night to celebrate my BFF's birthday at an excellent restaurant in LA. It was nice to enjoy a leisurely meal and even enjoy a glass of champagne :)
I have not done any planning for Avery's party for the past few weeks since I need to get through DS' party first. Then, it will be full steam ahead (but honestly, I am not going to go nuts this time around like I did for DS' first birthday.... it was way too stressful and I just don't have it in me to do it again!).
Tomama: I don't think I ever said congrats on the new house! Very exciting and best of luck with the move cuz I know that can be stressful, especially with two little ones.
Lcarlson: Oh no! I hope G is feeling better and that you got to enjoy that room at the Four Seasons!
JLR: So sorry you are feeling frustrated. I think it's completely "normal" to feel that way. With our without DH working a ton of hours, it seems that the majority of the responsibility always falls on the mom and it can be exhausting. I hope your DH can take some time off soon so that you can enjoy some quality family time.
MrsR: I am sorry to hear about the allergy situation. I hope the tests results come back the way you want them.
Sue: Good luck on your interview!
Jeanine: Glad you had a great/fun trip!
Daisy: So glad the long drive on your own was a success! And I hear ya' on needing some more time between your family visits :)
Hope you all have a great day!

OMG, I can't believe our babies are almost 1 year old! We do have the cutest kiddos! :)
lcarlson - How is G? Hope he's recovered from HFMD.
MrsR - How scary! How did the blood tests come out?
Jeanine - Glad you had a nice trip! And hurray for Ben sleeping through the night.
Sue - How's the sleep going? We're also doing CIO at night (doesn't work as well for naps). L also gets up 2-3 times a night but usually can get back to sleep again. Makes a world of difference. Sounds like the interview process is going well, fingers crossed!
steviem - Darling pics of the kids-- the one of them together is so sweet. Gosh, you're extra busy with 2 parties to plan.
Daisy - Sounds like J. is going to be a good traveler! He's so cute and has the prettiest eyes.
JLR - That's so tough. I remember feeling like a single mom when we had just DS1-- and my DH didn't work 2 jobs or weekends! In his case, it was more priorities. Only when L. came along did he start becoming more "involved" and he even admits to liking some of the stuff he does with DS1 that before he tried to avoid (reading to him, putting him to bed, brushing teeth, etc). Big hug! Congrats on A. crawling. Such a big milestone!
bday planning progress - My mom came over for a couple of days and I finally feel like I'm making some progress. It also helps that L. has been napping longer and DS1 is sorta back to taking naps. Invites went out yesterday, cupcake picks are done, lollipop stickers are done, bday banner is done, some of the games are done, large pinwheels are done, centerpieces are ready to be assembled, prizes are purchased... yet, there is still a whole lot of cr*p left to do! My dining room table is buried. My own fault for picking the circus theme.
food - L. eats 2 to 3 times more than his big bro and he has a much more balanced diet. I'm not exaggerating-- I don't think his "stop eating" button works. His staples are blueberries, bananas, avocado, turkey, pasta w/any sauce, yogurt, cheerios, mac & cheese, grilled cheese, pizza, silken tofu, oatmeal, steamed carrots, zucchini and/or squash, soft fish... And if I don't give it too him fast enough, or don't give him enough variety, he starts screaming and throwing things off the table. He also loves water, but that's probably because that's all I give him to drink besides BM. All DS1 will eat from this list is cheerios, cheese products, yogurt & the pepperoni from the pizza. They are so different it's scary.

ToMama - Congrats on getting the new house! I hope the move goes well and it's not too stressful on you. I would love to move down to the South Bay but if we tried to sell our house now we would probably loose at least 100k.
Sue - Have you had your third interview yet, how did it go? I can't believe Ryan is already taking steps. I think G might be a late walker because he just started consistently pulling himself up on things. I love the picture of your little man..he is so cute.
JLR - I just wanted to send some hugs your way. I know what it's like to be on your own a lot. Is there any way that your DH can adjust his hours so that he can be home more often? DH was traveling all the time, he actually took a step down at his company when G was born so that he could be home more often.
Daisy - I am glad the road trip to your parents house went well. That is great that J started to self feed. It's nice because it keeps them entertained a lot more when they can feed themselves. I love the picture of J in the bath tub, he is such a cutie-pie.
undesigned - I am glad you are enjoying your time at home, but it's certainly exhausting. Once you get your DD on a schedule I am sure that it will get easier.
Bloom - I am jealous that S is such a great eater and that she eats such a wide variety of foods. Thanks for posting some of the things that you feed her, it has given me some good ideas on things to try with G.
MrsR - I am sorry to hear about Jack's allergies. We have friends that have 4 year old twin boys with severe allergies. Both parents have a ton of allergies too. Just to give you hope, one of the boys recently outgrew his egg allergy. I hope you get good news from the testing.
Jeanine - That is great that Ben has been sleeping well. Glad to hear you had a good road trip with Ben. I worry about long car trips since G isn't a huge fan of his car seat.
StevieM - Love the pics of the kiddos. That is great that you got to have a ladies night. What restaurant did you go to? I hope you have a great time this weekend at DS's birthday party.

Dylan is sick today; he hasn't eaten anything but breastmilk. He isn't super grumpy as long as he's being held, but the second someone even thinks of putting him down he was upset. Hopefully tomorrow he'll feel better; he is all tucked in for the night.

Where is everyone this week? Hopefully enjoying some much needed time off!
We're supposed to be out of town next week, but with escrow closing, it'll probably be cut short-- sucks since we've had this vaca planned for a few months.
QOTD - What new things are your kiddos doing this week? - Landon is the master impersonator. He copies EVERYTHING that his big brother does... even coughing, the way he laughs, and even some of his mannerisms. He watches him like a hawk... we're in trouble since DS1 doesn't have an obedient bone in his body!
Lvella - Hope Dylan is feeling better. It's so sad when they're miserable.

Hi Ladies,
We're around, I'm just exhausted and very irritated this week and just feel like venting...
J got the sniffles on Sunday and basically cried half the day on Monday. It was complete misery. Since he rarely cries or fusses, I took him in and, as suspected, he has an ear infection. He's on antibiotics now and it's already kicking in (we haven't had a repeat of Monday thank god).
What new things he is doing...he's zooming around in his walker and he figured out how to turn it around. He's not crawling on all fours, but he is able to get around in his own way. He's pointing, clapping, chatting all the time.
What did everyone do for Father's Day? DH played golf in the morning with some friends, then everyone met for brunch, it was nice. We didn't get him anything too exciting - new shirt and this set from Sur La Table to make sliders (since I plan to serve these at J's bday party :p).

QOTD - What new things are your kiddos doing this week? DS started Crawling last week! He's getting into absolutely everything that he can now get his hands into. He's certainly staying busy & keeping Mom busy too! ;) Maybe this will be a good thing, as I'd like to lose some weight.
He also likes to mimick people & animal noises, etc; etc.. I don't know if it's the age thing, but he also started becoming kind of shy.-it's So cute when he does it though.
SOs-->
lcarlson lil' G is such a doll! Great 1st bday party invites!!! Love' em! That last pic. is hysterical!
TOMama love love love the colors!!! Like the bday 'theme' too! The lollipops are super neat! Did you make his bday party hat? I had wanted to make one myself, but just ended up buying one instead. I posted a pic. of it a pg. or so back. The pic. is still cute, it just tells a story instead! ;)
How in the world do you find time to move/close/pack & plan for a bday party And take a vacay??? You go girl > all the more power to ya!
lvella how's the bday party planning going?! D's is first in line!!!
Is he cutting more teeth? Awe....I hope he's feeling much better just in time for his bday/party!!
Daisy good to hear J's on an RX now & on his way to feeling better! I've learned now, once they're mobile on all fours, they're liable to get into
everything & follow you around the house!!! Enjoy it, while he doesn't crawl...yet!
Father's Day-I made dh a card from DS. We didn't buy any big gifts or anything. We headed on over to my ILs & hung out over there. Dh was supposed to work 8 hrs. but got off early, so that was a Nice surprise! We just spent the day together & went to a park to listen to a band & took a long walk.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Been feeling all nostalgic the last week or so and have been reminiscing....
I've been in 'crafting mode' for the last week or so. I'm back on the bandwagon & have been working SO hard! Just trying to finish up a TON of crafts & special things that I have planned for his 1st. I found these super cute buckets if you will,(kinda like paint cans), but they're plastic & clear. Inside of them, came w/plain die-cuts. Planning on using the die cuts for tags(one side will have the letter 'A' & the other side a "thank you". I'm going to fill them with candy. What other candies do most children like? I'm already planning to buy colorful skittles & m&ms. Other suggestions?? I bought 4. On top of the lids, I made these cut outs that say, 'Laugh' - 'Love' - 'Live'.
*Banner-complete
*3 poster boards(each of them have diff. theme) filled w/pics.-all complete
*20-something baby jars/stickers-complete
*name tags-complete
*cut-outs for the cupcakes-complete
-still need to get wooden sticks to glue for the cut-outs, fill baby jars w/candy & gift bags w/rainbow twizzlers, purchase & fill containers/cans w/candy and need to buy more ribbon & thread them through the tags.
Off to the pool today! It's hotter than h3ll out today - it's 90+ degrees out!

ToMama - I love the pic of Landon. Doesn't it always seem like when you really want a specific photo they never want to cooperate. Oh well, I think the invites turned out really cute anyway. L's birthday shirt is cute. Is it from Etsy? It looks like the same seller that I ordered G's circus bib from.
Lvella - I hope Dylan is feeling better soon. At least he is still drinking BM. When my kiddos are sick they never seem to want to drink anything and I always worry about them getting dehydrated.
Daisy - Sorry that J is sick. I know this sounds strange but it's almost better that it was an ear infection because at least they were able to give you antibiotics and he will feel better soon. It always seems like my kids get generic viruses and they always say we just have to wait it out. It sounds like J is having a great time with his walker. What kind is it? I was considering buying one for G.
JLR- Wow..I can't believe your little guy is almost one. I remember how fun it was planning DS1's first birthday party. It sounds like you have done a lot of creative things that will make the party really special. I can't wait to see the pictures.
What new things are your kiddos doing this week? Gavin has really perfected crawling and he is super fast. He is pulling up a lot more now. I think sometimes he forgets that he can't stand up on his own because he will pull up to a stand and then he lets go and he always seems surprised when he falls down. His new thing is that he likes to throw balls and then chase after them. :)
Father's Day - On Friday DH went to DS1's preschool for "Dad's and Doughnuts Day". DS1 made him a really cute picture collage at school. On Sunday I made caramel french toast and an egg caserole. DH got a BBQ mit with DS2's hand print on it and I bought him an espresso machine. We went down to the La Brea tar pits. We both have lived in LA all our lives and neither of us had been to the tar pits. After that we went to Maggiono's for lunch and walked around the Grove in LA.
