View Full Version : Is tea okay?

I'm trying to wean myself from my 2 cup a day habit of coffee, and I was thinking that tea might be an acceptable substitute (decaffeinated, of course) but I thought I had read somewhere that certain kinds of tea were not good. Anyone have a list of the "bad" teas not to drink?

TIA!

I think there was a recent study showing that green tea could increase the chance of miscarriage.

Sorry don't have a list - I recently read something about green tea too. I weaned myself down to decaf coffee (made sure it was "naturally" decaffienated though). Once I was pregnant, I couldn't stand the thought of drinking anything hot so it wasn't much of an issue for me. I do remember while pregnant reading something about raspberry tea also not being good while pregnant but it's supposed to be great afterwards (something about it affecting the uterus, helping it contract?).

Hope that helps a little :)

regular black tea is fine- even with caffeine. chamomile is also fine.
red raspberry tea can cause uterine contractions- many people use it to try to bring on labor- I did and it didn't work.

Thanks ladies! Sounds like I just need to stay away from green tea and red raspberry tea. :)
