Big doctor appt is July 20 for ultrasound and checkup, on DH's 29th birthday. We are actually getting a level 2 ultrasound due to a minor birth defect DH was born with (a double thumb) to see if the baby got it. We think it was a fluke for him since no one else has it.

Probably will take my 18w shot this weekend to show the growth!

Question: Should I enter ultrasound appointments just under "Ultrasound Appointments", or should I add them under "Doctor/Midwife Appointments" too?

jaredsgirl

I think that you should put it on both. In my case, I actually have two appts, ultrasound at 8:45am CST and the Dr at 11am CST...but I do have to go to the hospital for the level 2 and then back to my dr. office.

Okay, now real pg talk. I have a doctor's appt on Thursday, and I'm starting to get nervous. Not of the doctor, just that everything is okay. I leave on Friday for vacation and I keep thinking what if something is wrong and I have to spend my whole vacation worrying about it. This 4 week wait between doctor appointments is brutal. It's like that's my only validation that I'm actually pg. Maybe I should have gotten a doppler so I could listen to the heartbeat on my own whenever I needed to. I think I'm just more sensitive since my m/c. Hopefully I'll calm down more once I start to feel the baby move.

Bras - I think I've finally decided to break down and buy a maternity/nursing bra. My old bras just aren't cutting it anymore and I'm not going to spend a fortune buying new ones that will only fit a few months. BUT, I haven't seen any in other colors other than white. I stopped buying white bras when I learned the miracle of nude color. Has anyone seen maternity/nursing bras in nude? I probably just haven't been looking hard enough - I've only been into two maternity stores (and then, only very breifly).

Dang it. I typed up a long post with several replies, and then it disappeared. I'm going to start copying before I hit "Submit Reply" so I can paste my message in case my post gets eaten.

kamileer: I'm not sure if you can have a ticker in your sig. I think I saw a thread about it either on "Board & Forum Questions" or "Forum Suggestions". You might want to check there.

aprilbride2002: Glad your morning sickness is gone! I wish mine would go away! I hear ya on feeling fat! I even asked my doctor whether my belly is just fat or if it's a baby belly. Luckily, she said it's a baby belly. But *I* still think it looks like I ate too much! :p

scarlett: The four week wait between appointments is brutal! I'm glad I rented a doppler because it's been reassuring between appointments. You're in the 2nd trimester now, right? I just read again that your chances of having a miscarriage drops significantly after the 1st trimester is over. So you and your baby should be fine. It's still scary, isn't it? How far along were you when you had your miscarriage? I'm sorry you had to go through that. :( I had an early one last year around 6 weeks.

I can only wear nude or black bras... no white for me. I haven't started looking for a new bra yet, but I may soon. I don't think they've grown (DH disagrees), but my current bras are starting to feel uncomfortable.

scarlett
06-28-2005, 11:32 AM
JRPAGV - Yes I'm in the second trimester (15w, 4d) and logically I know the chances of m/c have gone down significantly, but it's still scary. I think, for me, it's because my m/c was a missed m/c, so I didn't have any spotting or symptoms. I just showed up for my first appt and u/s and we didn't see a baby. That was at 9w and I ended up with a D&C at 11w.

Anyway, happier thoughts to everyone.

I have an ultrasound appointment tomorrow, June 29th. My form says that it's for an "anatomic scan" but it seems too early to find out the sex. I'll be 16w5d tomorrow.
I always said that I didn't want to know the sex, but I've changed my mind and really hope they can tell us tomorrow.

Also, just wanted to say that I'm happy this board is here. I don't think I can really get used to LJ. I'll go back but will probably be here more.

16 weeks seemed like such a landmark this week! I don't have a real baby belly yet, I feel like I just look fat. I'm in my sister's wedding this week I wish I had an empire waist, to make me look pregnant! :)

I got some really exciting news - I had my first appt with my new OB-GYN and my u/s is going to be 3D!!! :D We can't wait. My baby's h/b is still pretty high - 156 - and my aunt, who was a labor and delivery nurse for 20 years is convinced it is a girl. DH was disappointed when she said that.

So, another month til we can find out now, but definitely worth it for 3D! So exciting that some of you are finding out in the next week or so!!

QOTD #1: Are any of you experiencing any cravings?? I wouldn't say I have cravings. There are some foods/drinks that I like more now, but I still haven't had a really strong craving that made me wanna send DH out to the store. Everytime we go grocery shopping, we pass by the pickles and DH points out that I am "supposed" to be craving pickles like all the other pregnant women. LOL.

Oh, and just a random question. Does anyone else have any belly shots to share? I already posted mine on the first page. I, like many of you, are concerned about my privacy. But, I just cropped off my face so no one can recognize me. Please don't let my big ol' belly be the only one over here! :o

jaredsgirl

Cravings So hilarious that you posted this because I was going to come in here with the exact same question!!! I am craving a bowl of Fruit Loops right now! I do have cravings, but to be honest, my PMS cravings were far worse. These will actually could change before I satisfy it. But I have wanted pickles, big mac, egg mcmuffin, doritos, etc. Now I'm changing to sweet things, like cookies, and cereal. Granted, these are not all the time and in general eat healthy all day, but will give into a craving maybe once a week, I figure that is good, and that is all that I really need.

Belly shots I think I figured out how to do that. I will share my same ones I had already taken, but hope to do an 18 w shot this weekend. You can't really see my face, so here they are

jaredsgirl: Are your cravings really strong- like you have to have the food now or you'll scream? Or, are they more subtle? Maybe I am having cravings, but not the crazy have-to-have-it-now type. I went through a phase a couple of weeks ago where I had to have boiled peanuts a couple of times a week and I'm still wanting lemonade several times a week. There's some other random things that I really, really want on a regular basis. I just can't think of them all right now. Hmmm. So maybe I do have cravings after all. :) Great pictures, by the way! I can really see that your baby belly is growing!

jrbnj - Congrats on your boy!!!

So only two of us know now right? 1 boy and 1 girl is the count?

I think I will find out tomorrow at my appointment when my u/s is. My friend had one on Monday and the baby had its legs tight together so they couldn't tell her!

Belly Shots - I have one, but haven't loaded it onto the computer yet. I think I just look like I have been eating too much. I am still in my regular clothes though, had to retire a few things including all button up blouses!

Cravings - I have just had a few subtle cravings and they had been for food that I normally don't eat. A couple weeks ago cereal sounded really good. I generally don't care for cereal. Also I had a craving for donuts. I don't even like donuts!

belly shots: I'll post a succession of them on Monday July 11 after my 19 week ultrasound! Hee! I have one from 6 wks, 11weeks, 15wk3d, and then 19.

cravings: I wouldn't call them cravings, per se. I would just say that the power of suggestion now is REALLY powerful. One of you just posted about a bowl of Froot Loops and I immediately thought, "That would be SO good right now!" :D :p I DID however, go out of my way the other day to get a large lemonade at Chick-Fil-A. Mmmm.

I haven't had the "DH go get this for me RIGHT NOW" craving yet...but I have brought different things home from the grocery store. (Corn dogs, believe it or not, which he found hilarious.) I've enjoyed spicy/salty stuff lately like chili/Taco Bell/chips and salsa. I've had a hard time getting as many veggies in as I should - but I'm workin' on it. I had a big bowl of veggie soup for lunch with grilled cheese. Hehehe...plus we have a bunch of squash and tomatoes from our garden that someone needs to eat.

jaredsgirl
06-29-2005, 02:28 PM
jrpagv That sounds like what I would consider cravings. They are more like wanting food that I don't normally eat (like what krbbsaid). I like cereal but never ate sweet cereal, now that is all I want. Just like the McDonald's thing, I RARELY eat fast food (unless traveling and it is my only option), but have to have it on occasion now.

Hi all,

Boy I miss our tickers. I am 18 weeks today. I can't believe we are nearing the halfway point.

Cravings I too am a huge victim of the power of suggestion. Grocery stores should be off limits to me. I see it on the shelf, I grab it and eat it. Sometimes the food doesn't even make it home
The only real craving was for some french toast which I eat maybe once a year, and of course I had to have bacon with it (lots of bacon)

I am starting to feel pretty fat lately. I think once I could eat again I went a little cazy eating everything I couldn't for the last 3 months. Well it has caught up to me. It has been so hot that I haven't been able to go for my walks either. I think I am doing pretty well getting my nutrients (maybe not enough veggies though)

QOTD Baby movement- anyone felt anything yet? I think I might have felt something, could have been gas. I did read on another site about a lady who lays on her belly and "gently" pushes down on her uterus and baby pokes back. Well I tried it and I SWEAR I felt a little something. I am going to get hubby to try and see if he feels anything.

Back to work, hope you all have a great day!

I didn't even know that there was another Dec mommies thread floating around. I was wondering why noone was posting!

I MISS THE TICKERS TOO!!!!

It would be great (IMO) if we all could get in the habit of posting how far along we at the top of our posts. I really like to know where everyone is at and it is great if you have to look back at posts, wondering at what week they were written. Just a suggestion!

Cravings - Looks like Britney Spears and I have something in common (the horror!) as I am now craving Cheetos of all things!

I have had some crazy dreams lately, but not a single one about the baby or motherhood.

No movement yet. Very much looking forward to that day.

Had a nice OB appt yesterday. Everything looks great. I have yet to gain any weight which worried me, but didn't seem to concern my doctor too much. I am eating a boatload of food and my belly is gorwing. They scheduled me for my Big Ultrasound on JULY 20TH. I absolutely cannot wait!!!!

jrbnj - Congrats on your baby boy!!!

ETA: Baby's h/b was 160. If the old wives tales are correct, we are sooooooooo having a GIRL!

I see a teeny belly starting there, Kamileer!!!! heehee...

Movement: I could have sworn I felt something last week, and a few times in the evenings between like 7-9 I think I may have felt some slight flutters off and on, but I really can't be sure. The doc swore up and down I wouldn't feel anything until 18 weeks (which is Monday July 4) but a friend of mine said she started feeling her little girl around 14 weeks (and felt her consistently from then on, which I find amazing). Everyone is different I guess. I can't wait to feel it more...and I also can't wait to be able to refer to it as HE or SHE instead of "IT!" :D

Dreams Well I have had crazy dreams, I have my whole life, but now they are extra crazy, if that is possible. None about me having a baby, but plenty about my other friends and family that are pregnant having a baby. I did have one where I had a little girl, with brown curly hair (like me). I can't even repeat my dream last night, I think it might be a little too hot for CC! :)

Movement I most definately have felt the fluttery feeling, but they are few and far between. My coworker has a theory (who is 8 weeks further along than me) that says you will feel movements, then grow and go for a few days without feeling the movements, then feel them again, etc. So far, it has held up.

kamileer Cute belly, we have our big ultrasounds on the same day. I can't wait!!!!

17wk3d, again. hehe

Speaking of the weird dreams and ppl saying they have or have not had dreams about the baby.

I did have one very specific dream where I had a little baby boy named Andrew (that is my husband's middle name and actually a name we are considering if it is a boy) and I was angry at my brother's girlfriend for feeding him something I specifically told her not to feed him. (IRL we have discussed how we are never going to leave our baby in her care - because she will try to get us to do so when we visit, so maybe it stemmed from that...)

It will be interesting to find out if it really is a boy. :D

I had a doctor's appt today and everything was good. I haven't gained any weight, but my doctor didn't seem that concerned. And the baby's heartrate was fast, but she didn't give me a number. She wasn't concerned about that either.

Dreams Last night I dreamt that I couldn't bf my baby (I think it was a girl). It's really really weird to be dreaming about your own nipples.

I leave tomorrow morning for 9 days in Hawaii :), so everyone have a great holiday weekend and week following.

Scarlett - Have you not gained any weight at all since being pregnant, or since your last appt?

scarlett
06-30-2005, 12:48 PM
kamileer - None since being pg. At this appt I was a couple pounds less than at my last appt (4 weeks ago). I'm also under what I thought I weighed prior to TTC. I must have lost a few pounds during the TTC process and haven't gained it back yet. It's hard to say though since I don't have a scale at home (okay, I have one - really what woman doesn't? - it's just in a closet somewhere and I'm not sure that the batteries in it still work).

I forgot to say in my other post: 20 wk u/s scheduled for July 28. But we most likely won't find out the gender.

I had my appointment today and everything was good. I met with a different doctor in the practice that I normally see. He was really nice and said everything was going by book. I have to call tomorrow to schedule my u/s, The place was already closed when we got back. The Dr. said to schedule it for the 19th week.

My next appointment is July 25.

I have had odd dreams too. Only one was with a baby in it and in the dream it was a little girl. Now I think I am having a boy, DH thinks it is a girl. Guess we will find out in a couple weeks.

I had a dr. appt. today too! Everything went great. My blood pressure was good and I am up 3 lbs. total. They drew blood for the quad screen and we listened to the heartbeat. It was in the high 140's/low 150's.

My next appt. is July 29. I will have my ultrasound that day! Thanks!!

dreams. I've been having crazy dreams (once I finally get to sleep!) but nothing baby related.

movement. I haven't felt anything yet, but my dr. told me that it's still early especially for a 1st pregnancy and that I shouldn't be concerned.

4th of July. I hope everyone has a nice holiday. I won't be online for the next two weeks or so, but I'll catch up with everyone when I get back.

Feeling pretty good. I don't know if I am so lazy because I am pg or because it is 110 out. Probably both. I do have a really hard time being active when it is so hot anyway.

Dreams I am definitely dreaming more but nothing about baby yet.

Cravings I have had more aversions than cravings. More things sound not so good than good. I am hungry every 2-3 hours without fail.

Movement I feel like I have felt flutters but it seems to early. I'm sure there will be a time soon when I know for sure.

I'm here, before I found out I was pg, DH and I went on 3 vacations between Jan and April, so I'm saving all the vacation I have until after the baby. I will have 6 weeks paid, then my vacation (which I will choose how much to use) and then my FMLA. It makes it hard on these days when no one is here at work!

I didn't notice the nails question. I have always had really healthy nails, but now that I'm pg, they are stronger and grow faster. Problem though, if they break (and I have to wack them), they break really far down. Right now they are all short because I have 3 broken nails. :( But then when I went to cut the other ones, it was almost impossible with the nail clippers!!! Strange!

For some reason I thought I answered the nails question somewhere along the way yesterday. Weird.

Yes...nails growing faster and so is my hair - I mean everywhere. Gotta shave the legs every day when I could go longer before...

I heard another old wives tale that if you're hairier it means you're having a boy. lol :D

I don't know if we've talked about this before, but for the heck of it:

What kind of maternity leave will you have? (If applicable to you)
jared'sgirl, your post made me think of it. It sounds like you have a pretty sweet deal. Better than mine anyway.

I have to save up 80 hours of paid time off ("PTO" - we don't have sick vs vacation time - we just get strictly PTO to use for it all and we accrue 7.35 hrs of PTO each paycheck). The doc has to sign me out for 6 or 8 wks, depending on vaginal vs caesarean delivery - I have to make sure he signs it otherwise I won't get paid for that amount of time.

Weeks 1-2 = PTO (those 80 hours plus whatever else I save up).

Weeks 3-6 (or 8) = I go on what is considered to be short-term medical leave for the rest of the time left (4 wks I guess) in which I am only paid 60% of my salary. (This bites because I don't make much as it is...but it's better than nothing)

Apparently all of this time, even the paid time, is still considered to be under FMLA time, not separate. Originally I thought I got this six weeks paid (partially in full by PTO and partially 60% by short term) THEN FMLA started after that if I wanted to take more unpaid time. HR told me that the first six weeks I'm out is counted out of my 12 weeks of FMLA, so if I take 8 weeks, I only have four weeks of FMLA left once I come back in case the baby gets sick or whatever. Seems odd to me...but...I'll go with it.

Maternity Leave We do have a pretty sweet deal. We have short term disability, which is where all of our sick time comes from. The longer we work here the more we get, I’m at 760 hrs of 100% and 240hr of 60%, so we have 1000hr available. So we have a TON. This is where my first part of maternity leave comes from (6 or 8 weeks depending on vaginal or c-section). The great part, I’m using quite a bit because of drs appt and what not, but say I deliver on my due date and only have 4 weeks left, on Jan. 1st, it all resets itself and I go back to having 760hr of 100% pay, so the remaining 2 weeks would be at 100% pay, does that make sense. After the short term disability wears off, we can use as much vacation as we want. I won’t have much, but I want to try and get to a month end to get my full pay check and possibly my bonus (which would suck if I can’t get it) which comes out at the end of January. Then after that I have my 12 weeks of FMLA to use. FMLA is the hard part because after the first 10 days, you have to pay out of pocket for you benefits or anything that is taken out of your check. So I just need to make sure I know how much that is.

Skin Discoloration Does anyone notice that they have this??? I am getting it on my neck, it looks like dirty skin but it doesn’t go away. Kinda irritating, and it just started showing up over the last couple days! You know, I swear, I must have the best pregnancy because I think I may have 95% of the symptoms you can experience while pg, they say this is good during the first couple months because it lowers your risk of miscarriage, but enough is a enough already!!!!

This is going to be a boring day today. I am an engineer and I’m really not allowed much in the labs now that I’m pg and my research projects just got put on hold for a year. Needless to say, I’m having very little work coming my way these days. Maternity leave will be at the perfect time since when I get back will be about time my project start to get up and running again

Nails-I've always had crappy nails but since getting pg and taking pre-nates, they've been growing like weeds and stronger!!! I love it!

I'm at work today too but get to leave at 2 for the long weekend! I'm so excited. I love 3-day weekends, but who doesn't?

My company has an excellent maternity leave, if you're here for over a year. But, I won't be so I won't get the full benefits...
Employed for one or more years: 100% pay for 13 weeks.
Employed for less than one year: one week at 100% pay and 12 weeks at 60% pay. I know it's still better than others but I'll be one month shy of my 1 year anniversary as a full-time employee (I started as a consultant but that time doesn't count.) Oh well.

I'm here today but not working. I actually get to post more when I am not at work. I just finished teaching summer school yesterday and I have 5 weeks off until school starts again. It's heaven!

Maternity Leave I am a teacher so I have to use my sick days for my leave. I hope to have about eight weeks worth saved up. Hopefully I won't get sick between now and then. I hope to take a whole quarter off which would bring me to mid March. If my sick days run out I can us supplemental sick leave which I think pays 50% of my salary. One small problem with that is that I have to go back to work at least one day in order to get paid for Spring break. Bonus is that I get Martin Luther King day off and 2 days at the end of Feburary for Rodeo break. My husband is also in school right now to become a secondary teacher. He will graduate in December and sub while I am home. Then he will stay home with the baby when I go back to work until summer. I am spoiled by summer vacation.

maternity leave - I work for a very small company so the FMLA doesn't apply to me at all. :( I work for my dad, which is a good thing, but times have been tough in the business lately and I'm not sure WHAT kind of maternity leave pay I will be getting. I do know one thing for sure, it won't be ANYTHING like the sweet deals you all have posted. I know I can take off as much time as needed. Whether or not any of it will be paid is TBD...

I was at work earlier today. The military got off, but the civilians had to come in or take leave. They decided to only have on gate onto base open this morning and didn't announce it so it took some people over an hour to get through the gate. I get in at 600 so it wasn't an issue. At least they don't have to make that time up. They did let us leave 59 minutes early. I took my PT (physical training - I basically get paid to work out 3 hours a week) and lunch together and left at noon.

Nails - I have noticed that mine having been growing faster. It seems like I have to cute them all the time.

Maternity Leave - I work for the federal government and you use your sick or annual leave for maternity leave. You can also go on leave without pay. They will hold my job for one year. I have about 45 days of sick leave saved up so I would only get paid for that much. I will probably not end up going back to work, but I may go back part time like two days a week. If I go back then I will probably return in September and just not get paid from about March on.

Have great weekend!

*waaaaah!*

I had this sneaking suspicion that something was up with my July 11 "big" doctor's appointment. I remembered him telling me that the ultrasound tech only worked on Tues/Thurs and my appt is on a Monday. So I called today to find out and the girl said I was NOT scheduled for an ultrasound!!!!!!!
:( :(

I told her I had been under the impression that I was having one that day because he'd said that around 19-20 wks is when he'd do the ultrasound. I didn't think I had to doublecheck that sort of thing. Sooo there's a slim chance I WON'T find out the sex on the 11th. I am going to go crazy!

BUT..they did say that there is a place across the street from my doc that does 3-D ultrasounds. I had NO idea there was a place closeby that did that. I saw online that the only place was Atlanta, near here. But I guess that was a specialty place. Anyway...they said I could get a 3-D if I wanted to pay full price and wait to see what kind of appointment I could get.

I want to know on the 11th! AUGH! One perk of working at the hospital is that I found the doc's work email address so I'm going to try and find out from him personally what the deal is. We'll see if he responds.

Hi ladies,

It is Canada day for us so no work. We finally got internet in our new place so I am typing as I wait for it to get dark here so we can go watch some fireworks.
I spent the day with my SIL who is 36 weeks pregant. It was kind of scary, I saw a gllimpse into our future. She is so huge and swolen. Her feet are three times their normal size. She keeps telling me how lucky I (we) are to be having a winter baby.

nails funny SIL were just talking about this today. My finger nails have never grown this quickly. She said her hair has never been so thick. One thing I am grateful for is that my leg hair is coming in slower.

Mat leave I am almost ashamed to bring up my sweet deal again here in Canada- yup a full year paid mat leave. Mind you "pay" is not normal salary. I think it is something like $400-450 a week, which isn't much here.

Well time for fireworks, I hope you all have a wonderful July 4th weekend

I'm just checking in.

Movement: I have been feeling things for quite a while actually. Mostly when I'm laying down with my hand on my stomach...but also when I'm sitting up..some tickles on my left side where the baby is.

Nails: I'm having a hard time typing because they're so long! And they're really hard too.

Maternity Leave: N/A ..I don't work

Not sure if I missed any other questions..

Hope everyone's doing great! :) I swear I think I've grown a ton since my 14 week picture. You all can be the judges tomorrow when I post my 15 week picture.

16w6days

Hi Guys! Sister's wedding is over (phew!) It was lovely and everyone kept telling me how good I looked for being 4 months pregnant, which made me feel good since I felt like a whale next to all of her other skinny bridesmaids! :)

We've obviously had a ton going on and I've had no chance what to rest whatsover, and last night I had a scary episode. I woke up in the middle of the night and had the worst case of vertigo I'd ever had in my life....the whole room was spinning so fast and wouldn't stop for at least an hour. I thought I was going to get sick and didn't know what the heck was going on. DH brought me some water and a cold cloth for my head, which helped, but still not feeling so hot today. I called my uncle, who is a dr. and he said (in layman's terms) that sometimes your hormones can screw up your inner ear and he gave me these head exercises to do and told me to stay hydrated and hopefully that'll end it. Otherwise, I can't take the meds for it for 3 more weeks!

So, I'm off to rest, but just wanted to check in on you all.

Nails Definitely better than pre-pregnancy, but still always breaking with my jewelry-making.

Maternity Leave Basically exactly the same as ktdelsur's only I get 100% pay weeks 2-6 (or 2-8 if c-section) out of my "extended sick leave" I have accrued up. After that, the balance of my PTO is used, and then unpaid. I, too, thought the 12 weeks was anything after I used my personal PTO, but no luck. Hopefully, my boss will let me take 16 weeks off as I plan to.

18 wks on Monday July 4!

jengen: Your post made me want to copy and paste my post from Family Planning that I just posted on dizziness:

Yesterday was a lazy morning and I went back to bed after getting up early and having a bowl of cereal - I woke up though (lying on my right side) feeling dizzy. It wasn't a wave of dizziness like I was going to pass out -it was just like my vision was going up and down as if I was nodding my head up and down. As soon as I moved, it went away, but I couldn't get comfortable again because every time I'd almost get cozy, it would start again.

(BTW, I'll be 18 wks PG tomorrow and have experience noticeable tummy growth in the past week and a half.)

I tried to take a nap today - it happened again! On my right side w/ two pillows, my left with two pillows, lying sort of on my left propped up with a pillow so I wasn't flat on my back. It didn't happen the night before when I went to sleep, or when I'm lying on the couch or anything. It's more annoying than scary, but has anyone had this happen? I plan on mentioning it to my doc on the 12th when I go in to find out the sex, but it's annoying. I wanted to take a nap SO badly but it just wasn't happening.

I don't know what's up with all that but I was wondering if anybody else had any experience with this...

I have felt like a whale the past two days. Ugh. I will try to post an 18 wk belly shot tomorrow.

17 Weeks

I've also been getting dizzy lately. I usually get more lightheaded/faint than dizzy, but it's become so scary that I brought it up at my last doctor's appointment. Here's the recap that I posted in my journal on June 28th....
Lightheadedness/Dizziness

It's been getting worse and worse. I can barely leave the house because of it. We went to Home Depot Saturday after dinner and I had to sit in the patio set section for a few minutes while he had fun shopping. :( Anyway, my OB said that it might be one of two things. It could be an inner ear problem (vertigo) because I've had a history of randomly passing out since I was a little girl. She said I'd have to go to an ENT doctor to have that diagnosed. Or, it might be that my body produces too much insulin right after I eat (reactive hypoglycemia). So, we're going to pay closer attention to when it happens... to see if there's a pattern (like if it only happens after I eat). I'm starting to think it's not vertigo b/c I usually get more lightheaded than dizzy. I don't always feel like I'm spinning. I just feel like I'm about to pass out. But, I also don't think it only happens right after I eat a meal. It happens when I'm hungry too. I'll watch to see if it usually happens after a meal, though.

If it's vertigo, there's medication I can take that is safe during pregnancy. And if it's reactive hypoglycemia, it's managed by eating smaller meals more frequently. I forget what else she said about it.
I've been paying attention to it this past week, and DH and I are starting to think my problem is hypoglycemia. I wonder if it's common to have both hypoglycemia and reactive hypoglycemia. I've noticed that I get dizzy or lightheaded when I'm hungry and a little while after I eat a big meal. Friday, I actually had my worst episode yet since becoming pregnant! We went to Babies 'R Us after eating Cracker Barrel. I got so lightheaded that I had to sit in a rocking chair in the store for a while. I couldn't even make it back to the car. Long story short, I ended up practically running to the bathroom and throwing up like I never have in my life. The dizziness brought on nausea and I was sooo sick. :o

Anyway, maybe what I copied/pasted from my journal will help one of you. I'm sorry you're feeling dizzy. I'll be back sometime in the next day or two to post replies. I've gotten so behind.

ETA: Dizziness can also be caused by low blood pressure or pressure from the uterus.

We are supposed to find out on July 20th, but my mom is our u/s tech and she may sneak us in this week for an unofficial sneak peak. You never know...we may have an idea of what we are having really soon! This is so exciting, everyone!

Your belly is so adorable. ;)

I am going to post my 18 week, 4 days tonight. I am really starting to look and feel huge.
Tomorrow is my next prenatal. I can't wait to hear the heartbeat again and see how much I have gained.

Oh and I think I offically felt the baby for real today (maybe, I just don't know  )

Sorry ladies! :o I'm not getting email notifications so I didn't know anyone had been here.

It's a BOY! :D It was the first thing we saw when the image came on the screen. Wouldn't have been able to avoid seeing it if we wanted to...So for those of you that don't want to know...keep your head turned unless your Dr. says it's safe. ;)

We really wanted to find out before I left the country..so my husband could be there when I found out. We're so excited!

I think I told you all that I had already bought boy bedding & everything on my registry is blue! hahaha :)

YAY Cookie, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I swear I'm having a boy too but we won't know for sure until next week. DH thinks its a girl...but...I'm not so sure, seeing as though we've had the same experience in the last two ultrasounds of me saying, "Wait a minute, whats THAT?!" but was told, with a smile, that it was still too early to tell for sure.

cookie Congrats on your boy!!! :D No headaches lately for me, but I do get dizzy from time to time.

correlation between gender and h/b? I posted a thread in the general FP section, but I'm just curious, for those that have found out the gender, if your baby's h/b has been high if it's a girl, low for boy or vice versa. Our baby's h/b has consistently been around 156-160, even as late as my 16 week appt and everyone keeps saying "oh, you're definitely having a girl!" Can you tell I'm eager to have my u/s in 2 1/2 weeks?! And I thought I didn't want to find out! :D

Anyone see any camoflauge nursery bedding out there? Yes, we don't know if we are having a boy or girl yet, but my husband brought up the camo theme the other day and I just wanted to humor myself to see if there were any actually out there. One of my friends says she remembers seeing one when she was looking, but I did google, ebay, etc and can't find any.

Hope everyone's having a great week! Just 3 more days til the weekend.

Well you can tell those people that my little boy had a very visible penis & he has been 152, 167 & 158 at the 3 appointments. It seems like the heart rate thing is off for a lot of people. In another one of my December groups, some of the mom's had boys whose heart rates were much higher than that even throughout their pregnancy's! Like in the 180's even..

I can't wait to for the results of your ultrasound! Do you have any feelings about the sex?

cookie My husband will be so happy to hear that!!!! :D I can't wait to find out now, either. 7/25- less than 3 weeks to go! I was thinking boy, as I've had a few boy dreams and we only BD'd the day of O, so according to Dr. Shettles, better chance of boy, but I never had a really strong feeling one way or another. I'll be thrilled either way!

Cookie Congrats on the baby boy!

ktdelsur Hope you feel better! I hear you on not getting sleep because of lack of comfort. I'm waking up all the time during the night because I'm so uncomfortable...I'm constantly yawning now!

That is funny that jengen mentioned Dr. Shettles, Dh and I are convinced it is a girl because we had a "mechanical failure" 4 days before O, to give us our little surprise. Also the heartbeat has been 166 and 150 so we'll see if it will hold up for us. Although, I heard that the heartbeat is only a 50/50 chance of being right (just as much as guessing). If we do have a girl, we will use Dr. Shettles to try for a boy next. But no finding out for us, but you better believe I will be looking at the ultrasound screen to see what I can guess it is!

ktdelsur-I'm so sorry you're not feeling well today, I hope you feel better soon!!!

We went and picked out nursery furniture last night. The baby's room is going to be on the small side. We have two spare rooms but decided to keep the bigger one as a guest room and use the smaller room as the baby's room. So all we'll really have room for is a crib, dresser/changing table combo, hopefully a glider, and bookshelves.

This is the crib and dresser we chose are Jardine's Madison Collection (from Babies 'R Us) and the crib is convertible.

aprilbride2002 I love the nursery set. It is beautiful. I can't wait to pick out ours!

heartbeat We have been between 158-145 so that sounds like girl. 2 more days and we will find out :D

Had my prenatal yesterday and everything is great. The heartbeat was nice and strong 145 and we could hear the baby kicking away at me (couldn't feel it though) I think I might have a UTI though, I have been peeing way way too much even for a preggo. She asked if I felt a bit of pressure which I do so I will find out the results in a couple of days...fun stuff.
Which leads me to the dream question the only dreams I have had lately (twice) are pee dreams...yup I will leave it at that. I can't believe I even admitted that.

I am still feeling pretty goodthoug still waiting for that energy to return. I think I am about a week or two away from having to go all maternity clothes. Next Friday my friend and I are taking off work to go maternity clothes shopping.

aprilbride2002 - how pretty! We started looking at furniture this past weekend. One of the cribs we are interested in may take up to 14 weeks to come in so we would have to order next month.

Jaycee - My dreams have been really odd. I dream I am working at the store I did when I was in high school with current co-workers or I am on Big Brother, but was mad because I had no idea how I got there. DH enjoys hearing about them.

Mrsbuw - I have pee dreams too and call them that. I thought I was the only one :) . Thanks for the belly shots. I still have some to upload from the camara. One of these days I will get around to it!

Looks like most of us are hanging out here...so I'm in! :) (oh, btw, my name on WC was elizabeth&doug.)

Great to hear from everybody.

Knock on wood...I have been feeling great. I know we're in the honeymoon phase but so far I am really enjoying being pregnant! Okay, I'm not dwelling on that because I don't want to jinx anything.

I have my first -- and big! -- ultrasound on July 11. Oh, and sorry threadmistresses, do you want me to repost my stats?

dreams: yes, yes, yes! I have vivid dreams anyway. But I've been having these complex, long, involved dreams every night. The weird thing is I have yet to dream about the baby...sometimes I'm pregnant in the dreams, but often I'm not. They are mostly about returning to the past -- high school, elementary school, etc. I've dreamed about people I don't even remember in my conscious life until I've seen them in my dreams! Anyone else? I'm wondering if my brain is going back to sort out old things or something.

kamileer, you look gorgeous!

jengen, you look great too -- definitely getting bigger!

MrsBuw, have you had an ultrasound yet to confirm that there aren't two in there? ;) Just kidding. You are really popping! You're lucky -- I bet people can really tell you're pg now. I feel like most of the time I just look fatter.

aprilbride, nice furniture choices!

Sorry I'm just doing SOs for the last page, everybody. I think I need to repost my stats so I'll do that as soon as I doublecheck the format.

I, like some of you, have dreamed about people I haven't seen or thought about in years. Some of my elementary school classmates were in my dreams the other night! I think I've had one or two dreams with a baby in it, but I couldn't remember those as well and I can't recall the baby's gender. DH has bene getting a kick out of hearing about my wild dreams. He thinks I'm crazy- I can tell by his facial expression during my recaps. :D

Speaking of weird dreams, read about to the doozy I had last night.

In my dream we were going in for tonight's ultrasound, only it was one of those 3-D u/s. We could see a VIVID penis right away. It was really clear and DH started tearing up. I just laid there in shock. I didn't know what to make of the news either way. Then the OB comes in and says that it is a GIRL, that what we saw wasn't a penis but enlarged labias! Then another OB comes in and confirms that it is a BOY. Then yet another comes into the room and says it is a GIRL. It was so trippy and I started bawling in my dream. I woke up suddenly and braced myself for the chance of having an IT as a child!!!

These pregnancy hormones are making for WACKY sleep patterns/dreams!!!

Copied from my LJ

OMG....We are having an IT!

I've had some psychic dreams before and we can just add last night's to the list. We couldn't figure out the sex! At first it looked like a definite GIRL. My mom (our u/s tech) gave us a "very good chance" of the baby being female. Kris kept saying, "It's a girl...It's a girl." A few minutes pass and the chants suddenly change to "It's a boy...It's a boy." Bottom line is that we still do not know. There was no obvious penis which is usually seen. However, the was a little "something" between the legs that my mom couldn't quite make out. What this something is, none of us know. To get a better look, she broke out the internal probe and we STILL couldn't tell. I explained to them how my dream was coming true and to that Kris exclaims, "We are having a hemophiliac!" We all burst out laughing. It's hermaphrodite, Kris, not a hemophiliac. LOLOLOLOLOL. By the time we left my mom was giving us a 65% chance of boy and a 45% chance of girl. We laughed again because these numbers add up to 110%! I guess we will have to be patient and wait until the 20th. Hope peanut cooperates then and we can see some clear cut genitals. My money today is on boy.

On a very positive note...the baby looks GREAT and is measuring perfect (16w3d). I was getting worried since I haven't gained any weight but peanut is surely big enough and getting PLENTY of food. Heart was beating at a brisk 160bpm. We could see the 4 chambers of the heart, the 2 hemispheres of the brain, 10 fingers and 10 toes! He/she was moving all around. It was amazing. What more could we ask for, really?

Will post u/s photos on Monday. Have a great weekend everyone!

Cookie - Do you have photos you can share from your scan? I would LOVE to see how your "boy" parts compare to our "something"

Sorry you're also uncomfortable, jengen and jaycee. I looked around online last night about the swollen ankles and found that laying on your left side and elevating your feet helps...I did that for an hour last night and it made a big difference. Apparently massage also helps (as long as it's w/someone who understands all the prenatal stuff)...I think I'll head for my first pregnancy massage soon!

kamileer - Sorry your weren't able to find out yet. You are still getting another ul/s right? The hemophiliac part had me laughing!

Cookie777 - Happy belated birthday!!

I have not had swollen ankles, but my fingers swell especially in the heat. Today was our building picnic and being outside in the heat for a couple hours made my hands swell.

I don't think I have felt the baby yet though sometimes in the evening I feel stuff going on down there, but am not confident enough to say it was the baby.

Have a great weekend everyone!

welcome, freckle! :)

Actually I think I just felt the baby about an hour and a half ago. I'm almost positive this time. :D (I thought I felt it before but then it seemed to be gas. Really not sure.)

I was sitting still in class (I'm working on my masters) and suddenly I felt a big thump in my lower abdomen. Felt the same thing a couple more times, a little more lightly, a few minutes later.

:D

krbb, sorry to say, I've also had the swollen fingers. Nothing too serious, but my rings get uncomfortable.

Augh I feel like I haven't posted in forever since I had such a hard time STAYING on the CC w/ that issue they had.

kamileer: How frustrating that you couldn't find out about the sex. AUGH!!! Especially w/ your dream. The hemophiliac thing made me bust out laughing here at my desk. LOLOL!!!! I have only had one dream where we had a boy, named Andrew (an actual name possibility), but none since then. I am dying to know what it is so I hope we can really tell. I'll be 19wks1day at my ultrasound on Tuesday.

elizabeth: Ugh. sorry to hear about the swelling. yuck. i haven't had a whole lot of that yet, but I have had weird leg pains when I walk for long periods of time - its like the BONE itself hurts. Very weird. Nothing debilitating, just really annoying.

cookie: I can't imagine not being in the states and having some of our weird fast food just around the corner to fix those cravings! :(

janna: Belly's still lookin' good! I can't wait to find out if we're carrying different genders since we're carrying so differently!

hey freckle and krbb!

baby movements: Mine are really inconsistent, and I'm pretty sure I can tell the difference in intestinal stuff and baby movement...but I can't wait for it to be consistent. When it's not ... even though I know I'm not supposed to feel it all the time yet, I still get nervous about it!

dreams: I always had weird dreams anyway - but I have had lots of dreams lately with old high school friends I hadn't seen in years showing up. So odd.

3.5 days til the big ultrasound!

Hey everyone,

Is anyone else having trouble getting onto this site? Everytime I try to get into certain threads like ours I get kicked out. I can get in at home but not at work. It has something to do with browsers?
Gesh, It feels like I haven't been on in days and I have such IMPORTANT news
:D :D :D

Today was our big ultrasound. I was so excited yet nervous all morning. After all if there was something wrong with Baby B we would probably find out today. Well let me tell you our little beany was so active, it wouldn't stay still. It took us an hour and 20 mins to get all the needed pictures and measurements. You could tell our tech was getting a bit frustrated, everytime she found what she needed the little bugger would move away.

At first it was all curled up with it's head to my back, bum up. Then it would roll from one side to the other. Then it flipped and gave us a wave. At one point it's mouth was moving like it was talking to us. It was amazing, it even had the hiccups for awhile.

The tech said I was going to be in trouble when I could finally feel movements because the little bugger did not stop once. Everything looks great, the heart and all the organs, legs arms. We were so happy so we asked what the sex is. She had the camera angled so we couldn't see the parts and my baby is a ...............

BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are so excited, it will be the first boy on my side of the family.

December so far seems to be a boy month....

Well here is a pic of my son, gesh that sounds weird. It is pretty blurry because again he wouldn't stop moving.

http://photo.internetimagingnetwork.com/getImage?pid=ph1402880140460&size=IMAGE_RES_4&e=ec1v282169720315d175544&m=175544

That is his little hand above his face and his legs are drawn up. She said he is a long baby ( hmm DH is 6'6 of course this baby is going to be long) and he weighs more than average right now. Thank god for my birthing hips

I can't wipe the smile off my face

Welcome Freckle
sorry you couldn't see the sex Kamileer

Dress for Upcoming Wedding? Hey Ladies, I'm going to a wedding in 3 weeks and will be 20 weeks pregnant. I obviously will be at the point (I think) where I will have no choice but to wear a maternity dress. The reception is being held at an upscale place, by the water, in the evening. Any ideas on where I can buy a nice maternity dress? Everything I've looked at so far seems too casual. I hate to spend $$ on a dress I will probably only wear once in my life! :)

jengen, I got two great dresses on ebay that are awesome. I think if you go with one of the brands that normally fits you and that you like, you'll be safe in ordering something there and having a good chance that it will work out.

As far as the formal factor...I'm thinking that if you go with something black, you'll be fine and can probably get away with something that may not be as formal but can still pass.

Congrats Mrs. Buw on your BOY!

Two more days....we find out on Tuesday, so I wonder if we'll be able to add to the list of boys or not. I still feel we might have a boy but everyone else on the planet seems to think it's a girl. Sooo we'll see if we're joining Jaycee on the girl list or not! I can't WAIT!

We went to see a movie last night for the first time in a while...Batman Begins, which was actually a pretty good movie. I have to read up, because I don't quite think the baby can hear all the noises outside the womb yet (besides the deep bass tones), but I could have sworn I got 3 or 4 kicks during the movie. Maybe it was my mommy ears too but it seemed the movie was WAY louder than a movie has ever been for me before. Weird.

Thanks, e&d and jrpagv ! :) That dress is cute and there is some nice stuff on eBay as well.

ktdelsur Yeah for only 2 more days! We were supposed to have ours tomorrow, but had to postpone it two more weeks. :(

I had two vivid dreams that I remember last night. One was that we were at our u/s. At first, they couldn't see anything and thought maybe girl, but then we saw the penis and it was 100% boy.
My second one was totally bizarre - even gory, so I will leave out some of the details! :p In one part of it, I was sitting on the toilet and the baby's foot started coming out of me. I made it to the hospital, and they cut my stomach open to look at the baby and we took it out and then put it back in until I was ready to deliver. I was also freaking out because I'd never prepared an overnight bag or bought an outfit for the baby to wear home. Crazy dream!!

...On a very positive note...the baby looks GREAT and is measuring perfect (16w3d).

I'm so glad that the baby is so healthy! :D I have some U/S pictures but I don't have a scanner here in Japan. I'll have to wait to post those when I get home..although, the pictures from the last U/S don't show his thingy. The videotape does..but the last pictures aren't great quality at all.

I felt what I thought was a kick somewhere late into my 16th week. All last week though, I maybe felt something TWICE. I actually started to worry - even though they haven't been consistent enough for me to start any worrying. Saturday and Sunday though, I did feel some...once yesterday I even poked the spot where I felt it and I got a flutter back! SO WEIRD.

e&d Big baby vibes that you find out the sex. Don't keep us in suspence!

What an exciting time this is for us all!

ktdelsur I have tried that poking trick and sometimes it works- so weird. I am starting to feel his kicks and pokes too. I think I have been for awhile but not quite sure. Can't wait to see if your little one cooperates for you on Tuesday. Big baby vibes!!!

Cookie you look so great! and I love the little slippers. My husband all of a sudden is gong ho over baseball. He even wants to find an old baseball name for our little guy.
Cookie, just curious what was your little guys heart rate. Old wives tale is if it is under 140 boy over 150 girl. My guys heart beat has been anywhere from 135 to 158 (135 was his most recent)

Kamileer I hope you will be able to find out the sex at your next appt. We do seem to have a real boy trend going so far.

Well I am in the 19 weeks and I think people can actually start seeing my belly, it is definately there, and DH said, WOW this morning looking at me. This weekend was a productive baby weekend, we got all the fabric for the baby's room (MIL is making custom bedding and probably won't get it all done until end of Oct). We also got the baby's crib and dresser/changing table. It is all great stuff, from an Amish furniture store where their furniture is just devine!!! I'm really excited about everything. Even DH said that he thinks our baby's room is going to be really cool with the fabric, and he could really care less about decorating normally, so that was a really big deal!!!

Dreams I'm having the crazy dreams about people I haven't seen in a really long time, like a guy that I knew in college that lived on my floor, haven't seen him in years and now today I'm wondering what he is up too! :)

Mrs Buw Congrats on your Baby Boy!!! That has to be so exciting!!!

Baby BK's Site (http://www.babiesonline.com/babies/b/babybk777/)

At my 7 week ultrasound, his heart rate was 152. At 11 weeks it was 167 & at 15 weeks it was 158. When I mentioned something about that old wives tale to my Dr., he said, "Oh that means absolutely nothing!" haha ..of course. I can't imagine a Dr. ever going along with any of that anyway.

Hey all! I'm back from my vacation in Hawaii! It was great and I definitly didn't want to come back to work today.

Congrats on everyone's BOYS! I hope we get some more girls to balance it out.

No real news here. The first few days of my vacation I was wearing maternity shorts, but by the end, I was back in my regular shorts (yes, I packed both - I'm a horrible over-packer). It was weird.

Everyone's bellyshots and u/s pics look great! It will be fun to get my u/s on the 28th - although we're pretty sure we're not going to (purposefully) find out the gender.

I'm doing pretty well here. Had my first bout with back pain this morning. I just cannot sleep on my side all night! I'm normally a back sleeper and have to finally resort to doing that after I spend 30-45 minutes on my side trying to fall asleep.

We had our u/s last Friday, but we didn't find the sex. Pics are at LJ :) It was the coolest thing DH & I have ever seen!! It's definitely making it more real. And the baby is moving a ton -- I sometimes think s/he is doing summersaults!

I've been sleeping on left side/right side/back. They say left is the best once you're big big big. But my doc, and a few of my friends' docs have said that if you feel good sleeping on your back, go right ahead. As long as you're not getting dizzy and no body parts are falling asleep/getting tingly, you should be fine. I wake up in the middle of the night sometimes on my back but I haven't had any issues.

krbb cute belly shot, you look great

kamileer so very lucky. I had a friend who is a ultrasound tech but she just moved away to New Zealand. She has told many a funny story about her profession including deflowering a nun by mistake with the probe

Sleeping position. I just talked to the doctor about sleeping on your back. He said it isn't that big deal yet. He did tell me if I want to sleep on my back (which I do) place a pillow a little bit under you (not all the way) the pillow will take the brunt of your weight. It's a boy! :D Add me to the ever-growing list!

We are in shock. My husband and I both have 2 sisters and no brothers...I went to a women's college...we have always thought we were having a girl. Nope! :)

We are very excited but it's a mental adjustment to get our heads around it.

More later!

Congrats Elizabeth on your boy!!

I can't wait til my appt. 9:50 a.m. tomorrow morning. I'll be leaving the office at 9:30 and posting here as soon as I get back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just picked up a VHS tape for the recording of it, and a pink bow/blue bow to hang on my office door when I get back. LOL - everyone in my department knows what's going on in the morning so they're all excited too!

I feel like I'll be adding to the boy list, but everyone else BUT me thinks I'm having a girl. *sigh* I just hope we can tell either way!

OMG Elizabeth Congrats!!!

I can hear my little girlsinging through the womb "It's raining men". It seems as though every single person I know who is pregnant both IRL and online is having a boy so far!! If this is a global trend right now, either my child is going to have her pick when she gets older or DH is going to have to start shopping for a shotgun in a few years :D

Congratulations on your boy, e&d!! :D

And thanks to all who responded about sleeping positions - I will sleep on my back tonight with no guilt!

ktdelsur good luck at your u/s tomorrow! Can't wait to hear the news!

kt's post reminded me of something - I just saw in CVS the other day, they have one-time use camcorders for $29.99 . I was thinking of buying one to use when we have our u/s done (as DH may not even be there) to share with the family. It records up to 20-30 mins and you just turn it into CVS when you are done and they put it on a CD for you. I thought it was pretty cool and just wanted to pass it on! :)

Thank you! :D Yeah go make one! They're free!

Cookie - Your belly is adorable! Mine really grew over the weekend so I will be sure to take a new (17w) belly shot on Weds.

Thank you :) I can't wait to see your new belly pictures! Yeah those are some long legs! Cute! The pictures are great! And I thought I saw girl parts???

Just wanted to pop in to vent. As you may know, I'd cancelled my u/s scheduled for today, because DH had to go to court. Well, they cancelled court!!! I tried to see if we could get in today, but no such luck. I'm still stuck waiting 2 more weeks!

cookie That website is adorable!

Oh that's too bad about both being cancelled. :( Hopefully they can get you in again soon. Thank you re: the website.

Hey all,

I've finally made the jump over here. Can you add me to the roster?

cookie777 -- you look terrific :) Love the website!

Good to see you here Kinaida! Thank you re: the website. I also have a hard time trying to sleep on my back all night. :o I'll have to go check out the pictures of the U/S at LJ... I don't think I've already seen them. Glad to hear the baby is moving so much. :)

17W3DFinally a bellyshot of mine. This was when I was 17 exactly. I think it is starting to look a little more like a pregnant belly instead of a beer guy.

I see a belly starting to poke out! You & Kamileer sure are doing a good job of fooling people about being pregnant. I don't think my gut is fooling anyone!

It's a boy! :D Add me to the ever-growing list!

Congratulations!!! :D

Updated to here!

I haven't been putting ultrasounds on the front page b/c I don't think we'll have enough room. When I originally saved space, I didn't realize that this site doesn't allow you to put as many pictures in one post as the WC used to. I'll try it later and see if we'll have enough room for everyone.

*phew*

Hi girls...it's 7 a.m. and I'm getting ready for work...but in less than 3 hours we'll know if its a girl or boy. I can't believe the day is here...and I'm so excited and nervous at the same time.

I dreamt last night that we went to the doc's office (but it didn't look like my doc or the other docs in his practice) and each and every doc tried to find the sex and couldn't figure it out - and I forgot my videotape. Then there was a fire alarm in the office and we had to evacuate, w/ the promise that if we brought a videotape back the tech would try again. We got back and the office was closing, and they invited me out to dinner with them instead of giving me an ultrasound. I was so angry. LOL *augh*

I'll be back around 11 a.m. (EST) to give y'all *hopefully* an update!!!!!!!!!!!

*augh!!!* :D

I can't wait to hear the news! :)

Oh my gosh ladies...check this out. Someone said today that they went in for their 18 week U/S and were told that they were having a girl AFTER being told at their 15 week U/S that they were having a boy!

Oh my gosh! I mean...my little guys stuff was very clear..but she said she thought she clearly saw the same thing & the Dr. told her boy... Then she went to another Dr. & that Dr. & Nurse told her girl!

She had said her intuition said girl the whole time..so she was surprised when they initially said boy...so she said that she should have trusted her intuition. Well my intuition said boy the whole time..so I'm just going to trust what we saw & what my Dr. said.. :o Can you imagine though?

kamileer
07-12-2005, 07:13 AM
That's crazy, Cookie! I guess I shouldn't read into anything from my ultrasound. Eventhough they told me that they couldn't tell, I have been assuming boy ever since. Are you going to have another scan at 18-20 weeks?

I'm feeling a lot of movement just in the last few days now ~ at first it was once every other day or so, but now it's a few times a day. this is the first 'symptom' that I have really loved!

Oh wow! Huge congratulations, ktdelsur and freckle, on your baby boys! :D I can't believe the flood of boys we're having.

And jaredsgirl, I had to respond to this...We have the assumption it is a girl, but now I wonder, is it going to be a girl to break up all the boys or is it going to be a girl to throw some mix in to the group. That is exactly what we thought! :p

I am now super excited about our boy. I was really in shock yesterday. I have always, my entire life, envisioned myself having girls...same for my husband. But now that the shock has worn off, I am really excited!

I have to say though, I am even more emotional now that I know. One big reason I have wanted to find out the gender is so I can feel more bonded to the baby in the womb. Wow, is that ever the case...I heard a story on the radio this morning that literally had me sobbing in the car. I need to share it with somebody and I thought you guys might understand the most.

Here is the link:
Very sad story on loss of son on Sept. 11 (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4748947) (Click on the Listen button directly under the top headline.) I'm warning you, this is incredibly sad. I was losing it this morning and start crying again every time I think of it. It's amazing...my baby is not even here yet, and I feel like I have only an inkling of this mother's pain. But it is incredible to imagine.

I lived in NYC on Sept. 11 and should know better than to keep the radio on when stories like this come on...it is very difficult for me to deal with them. But anyway...thank you all for letting me post and get it out of my system a little.

I am very busy at school full time for the next 2 weeks, so my posting time is limited. But I wanted to say THANKS for all the congrats, and answer someone's question about the chinese gender prediction chart -- wrong for me! :) Should have been a girl according to it. Also, we had sex 3 days before O, so according to Shettles that would have also been a girl. Nope!

Off to study. It's so much fun to see all the gender info coming in! :)

jengen Your belly really does look like mine. It looks awesome!! I still have a bit of the spilt belly. I think when the uterus hits the belly button it will round out? I have never had such a deep belly button.

QOTD exercise What is everyone doing if anything? I try to go for walks but it has been so bloody hot. It is gross but I find I am getting some back fat and I don't know what do? I have some weights but they are 20lbs and I am afraid they might be too heavy. I would love to find a community pool but there doesn't seem to be one.

I did find this on PF that I thought was very usefull:

Kegels
Strengthening your pelvic floor muscles may help protect your perineum, the muscular area between the anus and vagina, from tearing during childbirth. Kegel exercises are small internal contractions of the muscles that support your urethra, bladder, uterus and rectum. You can do Kegels anywhere — sitting at your computer, watching TV, even standing in line at the supermarket.
• Tighten the muscles around your vagina as if trying to interrupt the flow of urine when going to the bathroom.
• Hold for a count of four, then release. Repeat ten times. Try to work up to three or four sets about three times a day.

Pelvic tilt/Angry cat
This variation of the pelvic tilt is done on all fours, not lying on your back. This position will strengthen your abdominal muscles and ease back pain during your pregnancy and labor.
• Get down on your hands and knees, arms shoulder-width apart and knees hip-width apart, keeping your arms straight.
• Tighten your abdominal muscles and tuck your buttocks under and round your back, breathing in.
• Relax your back into a neutral position and breathe out.
• Repeat at your own pace.

Squat
It may not be the most elegant position, but squatting is a time-honored way of preparing for and giving birth. This position strengthens your thighs and helps open your pelvis.
• Stand facing the back of a chair with your feet slightly wider than hip-width apart, toes pointed outward. Hold the back of the chair for support.
• Lower your tailbone toward the floor as though you were going to sit down on a chair. Contract your abdominal muscles, lift your chest, and relax your shoulders. Find your balance — most of your weight should be toward your heels.
• Take a deep breath and, exhaling, push into your legs to rise to a standing position

Tailor or Cobbler pose
This position can help open up your pelvis and loosen your hip joints in preparation for birth. It can also improve your posture and ease tension in your lower back. sitting cross-legged on the floor for as long as you're comfortable, legs crossed at the ankles.
• Sit up straight against a wall with the soles of your feet touching each other.
• Gently press your knees down and away from each other — but don't force them apart.
• Stay in this position for as long as you're comfortable.

Remember to start slowly and work at your own level for each of these exercises

good morning :) everyone looks so great!! It's nice to look pregnant and not just bigger, isn't it? didn't want to say fat, but that is how I felt for a few weeks there... now that I've popped, I just feel a lot better about my changing / growing body.

I have my ultrasound tomorrow and am so excited, but also nervous, I just want everything to be ok and hope that come december, I have a healthy baby in my arms ;) we're not finding out so I just re-checked the chinese gender chart... I checked it when we first found out and it said boy, but then I found out that you're supposed to go by the chinese age chart and lunar calendar. so, using that it says girl!!!!! I would LOVE to have a girl. I almost feel bad saying that to anyone other than DH b/c it's not like I'll be disappointed with a boy, but... I would just really really love to have a little girl. so now of course, I'm hoping that gender chart is right, lol!! this is the site I used, but you all probably already knew about the whole age/lunar calendar thing ~ http://www.chinesefortunecalendar.com/PredictSex.htm

e&d, thanks for sharing that link. incredibly sad. I was in westchester and remember that awful feeling of not being able to get through to any of my family/friends that were in the city to see if they were ok. what a horribly sad day, it is difficult to deal with all the emotions that go with it... and even moreso now being overly emotional.

speaking of overly emotional ~ last night it hit me the other way ~ I started laughing at something stupid and could not stop. I was laughing hysterically and DH seriously thought I lost my mind. It has happened with me crying, but more laughing through the tears b/c I don't actually know why I'm crying, yet I still can't stop. hopefully it's not just me ;)

cookie, that happened to a good friend of the family... the Dr. initially told them it was a girl. so they went out and got everything girly and fixed up the nursery. then for whatever reason, she had another u/s and was told boy. so they rushed around re-doing the nursery and exchanging what they could as far as the girly things... and then she had a girl. this was about 6 years ago and I don't know if she just had a really lousy Dr. or u/s tech or what the story is... but it is true, so it does happen. crazy, huh? I think we have the same birthday, July 7th? I love it, lucky 7's!!!!! happy belated birthday, if we do :)

Mrsbuw, I've been trying to walk a few times a week, like 2 miles maybe, and when it isn't too hot. I also have a prenatal yoga dvd that I've been doing ~ I don't feel like I'm getting all that much out of it, but... if anything, it's a good stretch. and I'm taking my first prenatal yoga class this saturday morning. I have definitely gained ALL OVER, not just in my belly. at first I was freaking out about it, but... I'm starting to accept it and just plan on working my ass off, literally, after the baby is born :)

I haven't tried it yet, but it's gotten lots of great reviews (4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon with 183 reviews). I bought it at BRU. I've gone for a couple of walks, but it's either too hot or rainy here everyday lately.

Here's what the DVD cover looks like:
