I'm looking for a pet gate that will allow our cats to pass through instead of jump over. Jumping on the stairs seems dangerous especially for the one that is older and not super agile. I've seen pet gates with a small pet door, but they don't say if they are safe for babies. The openings look big enough for a baby to fit his/her head through, so that makes me nervous.
Has anyone found a product that is friendly for older kitties, but is also safe for the baby?
TIA!

Here's an old thread (http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1867&highlight=baby+gates) with a suggestion. I think there was another thread, I'll see if I can find it.
ETA: Here's another (http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11790&highlight=baby+gates), but I don't think it's too helpful.
I'm not much help. Our cats will jump gates and DD isn't old enough that we've had to gate the stairs yet.

Thanks! I did a search so I don't know why that didn't come up for me.

We have two different types of gates and our cats jump both of them. We have the First Year Hands Free with the foot petal and I love it!! The other one is just a cheap tension one and we would just put it on the wall with a bit of space under for them to crawl under and that worked until DD was 11 months old and figured out how to crawl under herself. We mainly just use the gates now at the stairs versus to contain her in a room.

I honestly don't remember what kind we used since we've been cat-less for well over a year now and got rid of the gates even before that. But what we did was put the gates that the cats needed to pass through up about 4 -5 inches off the floor and taught them to go under. The only one we didn't do it with was at the top of the stairs, but we just left that one open unless the kids were upstairs.

We got a regular hardware-mounted gate for the top of the stairs and our cat just squeezes herself under it. We didn't put it very far off the ground, but I guess it's enough for her! (we were planning on just leaving it open for her unless we were on the floor with DS)
