My next DVD (part of a tv show series) is said to have a "long wait". I looked up their definition of "long wait", and it says less than 14 days. It has been longer than that, and I'm starting to go through withdraw! What has been your experience with the wait times with Netflix?

I actually stopped using Netflix because of the shipping problems. It used to take over a week to get movies with NO wait and our distribution center was in the same city! I wouldn't be surprised if long wait movies take several weeks to arrive.

Not that you asked, but I don't have this problem with Blockbuster. Plus, I make use of the in-store swap. If there is a wait online I can often find it in the store.

Dark, Funny, Emotional. I really enjoyed watching In Bruges. This is probably the best performance from Colin Farrell that I've ever seen. The cast was great, you can't go wrong with Brendan Gleason and Ralph Fiennes. Big Thumbs up

Yeah, I stopped using Netflix before because I was getting the movies slower and slower. I usually get a movie, watch it the same night, and sent it back the next day. I assume I'm not a profitable customer to them, so they back up the wait time.

I've never had a problem with Nextflix and I turn around movies pretty quickly. It's almost always a two day turn around from the time I mail my return to the time I get my next DVD in the mail.

I had a movie at the top of my queue that said "long wait" once, and it was there for a loooong time before I finally got it. Like months! They just kept sending me the second movie on my list instead. Finally it did arrive, and I haven't had it happen since then. It was annoying, though.

Other than that I have never experienced the shipping delay problems with Netflix that I've heard others complain about in the past. *shrug*

We watched Swimming With Sharks today. I'd seen if before but it had been awhile. LOVED it just as much this time as I did the first time. I love Kevin Spacey and he was great (as usual) in this one.

watched Definitely Maybe last night. I didn't think it was too long and I enjoyed it. It was fun to jump back to '92

You callin' me out because I said it was too long?

Glad What Happens in Vegas was cute. It's sitting on my table staring at me.

Ok, long story short but we were told our new hosue was used to film a movie so we watched what we thought was the movie..untraceable and it was horrible. Please do not watch this film unless you like to have visions of tortured animals in your head for days!

I don't know if I mentioned it here but it was on HBO the other night and I was reminded again how I really liked Little Children with Kate Winslet. It's funny, odd, freaky...I don't know but both DH and I got sucked into it.

My tv (uverse) had a free preview this weekend for HBO/Cinemax and I caught this movie. It really sucked me in as well! Thought it was really good!

Wow, that is cool that your home was in a movie!

Is it Diane Lane's home in the movie? It was beautiful!

Is it Diane Lane's home in the movie? It was beautiful!

No, in fact the house wasn't even in the movie, so it either got left on the cutting room floor or it's another movie that Jennifer Aniston filmed in the area at the same time.

No one watching movies anymore :)

I've been super busy so haven't watched any in a while but did watch Sex & the city as well as Ironman. I never got into Sex & the City on TV so I wasn't too familiar with the characters but enjoyed the movie.

I took you all up on the rec for Definitely, Maybe and watched it last night. I think it was super cute, but I guessed who he would end up with pretty early on.

We watched Made of Honor this weekend...prety predictable, but I liked it anyway, as did DH which is saying A LOT for a chick flick. And can someone please tell me why Michelle Monaghan is a movie star?? Is she even remotely attractive?

I'm waiting for Sex and the City to be delivered. I can't wait to see it!

We watched Baby Mama last week and thought it was pretty funny. I didn't have high hopes to begin with so maybe that's a little of it but I still had a few good chuckles so I'd say check it out.

Interesting. This is a philosophical French art house film that tries to make a link between corporate downsizing and The Third Reich. It's a bit long and has the air of pretentiousness to it, but Michael Lonsdale is great as usual.

I think the French title "The Human Question" makes more sense than the English title of "Heartbeat Detector."

The Visitor - I LOVED this movie! Richard Jenkins was amazing and I hope he gets an Oscar nod for his role. This is definitely one of the best films I've seen this year.

I finally watched SATC and was kinda disappointed with the end. The movie was good though.

DH and I watched The Happening. While it was okay, at the end of the movie we were both like "WTF?". It was odd. I expected more based on the other movies my M. Night.

In my Queue now is Get Smart, The Visitor (based on the above rec), 21, What Happens in Vegas, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, and Iron Man (DH and I saw this in theaters).

I've rented it 3 times and still haven't watched it! Since we downsized from 3 movies at a time to 1 at at a time, we send back whatever we don't watch right away. DH has no interest in watching it, so I've sent it back a few times. Next time I get it I'm going to watch it. A lot of people have said it was a great movie, and I wish I'd already seen it!

I agree. I saw 21 in the theater (I rarely go to the theater now) and it was definitely worth it!

Let me know how you like The Visitor!

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is a beautiful film, but it is very long and slow paced. I enjoyed it myself, but it's not for everyone. The cinematography is gorgeous.

Oh no, I just got The Happening in the mail today. I was hoping for a good one. Funny thing, it seems like we have many of the same movies in queue. Only one I don't have is The Assasination of Jesse James.

If you're in the mood for a light, cute movie, see Penelope. Christina Ricci is adorable in it, and the setting is whimsical and beautifully put together (think Amelie).

Based on all of your recommendations, 21 is coming next! Well, after Season 2 of Dexter. :)

Mongol - This is a Kazakhstani film about the early life of Genghis Khan. It was nominated for a Best Foreign Film oscar this year. It is the first of a trilogy of films about the life of Genghis Khan.

Mongol is a visually stunning film. It reminds of Seven Samurai. The battle scenes are bloody but effective. The story has an epic, Old Hollywood feel to it. There are times where Temujin (G.Khan) gets in life threatening situations where he miraculously is saved; it is implied that the god Tegri gets him out and saves him. The love story between Temujin and Borte is a central part of the film, but it could have been explored a bit more.

All in all, I recommend it if you like action and can handle some violence.
