Let's just say we are still working on my 3 year olds aim into the toilet... he gets most of it in there, but often hits the wall/the floor/the radiator, etc. My bathroom has just taken on this odor of urine now... I've mopped it, dumped some pine sol floor cleaner on there and let it soak, washed the walls... invested in a good air freshenor and still no luck! Any advice or tips and tricks??

Mop with bleach.

If it's on the walls, you may need to prime it and repaint it.

Vinegar also works, in place of bleach.

I was going to suggest vinegar as well. I prefer it to bleach, especially if kids are around.

How about the enzymatic cleaners from the pet store? It's not a quick fix however.

My MIL uses a vinegar and baking soda paste. She scubs the floors and I know she has used it on the walls. She had a cat that liked to pee everywhere. It worked like a charm I never smelled the odor. Not sure if it works for the human smell.

I used it on Throw up smell on the carpet and it worked like a charm.

Good Luck!

I personally would not use bleach. The amount of ammonia in urine is small but it is still dangerous to mix any amount of ammonia with bleach. I had a friend who was hospitalized after trying to clean up cat pee with bleach because of the fumes produced.

I would try the vinegar and baking soda paste. Good luck.

Thanks so much everyone! I have to go buy some vinegar, but I'll try that paste later tonight. Fingers crossed as, with two boys, I'm sure I'll be using this a lot in the future.. ;)

Doesn't sound like an option for you, but my son sits to pee. No mess that way. :)

He has the option to stand if he'd like, but he prefers sitting. (He stands at daycare around the other kids.)

Biokleen makes a great product called "Bac Out" that is fantastic for pet and kid odors. I use it on carpet and hard surfaces. :) http://biokleenhome.com/products/household/general

nature's miracle is a product for animal clean up but it works great. something to do with enzeymes. its a safer choice than to bleach with kiddies.

I wipe down the toilets every night with a Lysol wipe. It seems to help. Neither of my boys have any aim whatsoever, so it was always sooo stinky! A nightly wipe, & a weekly entire hose down seems to work like a charm!
