Aisle Runner - What kind of fabric?

A good friend of mine is getting married in September. She is planning an outdoor ceremony and wants a white aisle runner. The one she is currently looking at is vinyl. Is that normal?

We had a cloth one that I bought from Michael's for $20. I'd think vinyl would be super slippery and the BMs (and possibly the bride) would fall :eek:

It's was a heavy duty cloth, but it was thin - if that makes sense.
